Go to EVERY lecture or you will be behind. She uses an online slideshow for notes that she works directly off of. However, this slideshow is not filled out so you will need to go to class in order to get the actual notes. An iPad would help. Go to recitation. Office hours are a pain to schedule and interfere with class time. Very fast paced.

ATTEND EVERY LECTURE OR YOU WILL FALL BEHIND! Dr. Lanni explains concepts very well and imo made orgo actually feel interesting. However, it is still orgo, so it's VERY important to attend lecture/read/etc. She offers a guided lecture notebook which I personally found very helpful for taking notes (it's all her slides printed into a book).

Prof Lanni is great at teaching the material. She goes way more in depth and at a quicker pace than most other teachers. She can be a bit rude to students, but it doesn't affect the class since it is such a big lecture. I chose to take her again for 334 because I feel like I learned the material so well from her teaching.

Genuinely think she is an amazing professor. Her lectures do fly really fast and very in depth. She loves her theories, which is why the material is very heavy. If you have a good grasp of ochem, I highly suggest her. Contrary to her "rude" demeanor, I thought she was a kind person and is willing to teach you if you are willing to learn.

I have an A in my orgo 2 class now with a different professor, and I'm confident it'll stay that way. She really brilliant, so IMO she cannot teach the material well to those at this undergrad level. This class is hard, but Dr Lanni focuses on mechanisms and constantly ties reactions together by functional group and helps to show the WHY so we can understand instead of just memorize. The second semester course feels like solving puzzles. She is encouraging and its obvious she enjoys teaching. She'll get you ready for the mcat. Don't be afraid.

Orgo is a difficult class but I think professor Lanni was helpful in navigating this. If you attend all of the lectures and practice daily you should be able to pass easily. DONT GET BEHIND, this class moves very fast which is why I suggest practicing daily because getting behind will set you back as all of the information builds on itself.

This is already a difficult course, but Dr. Lanni does a good job going through content. I felt like she spoke pretty fast, but I was always able to understand what was going on. She covers a lot of content every lecture, so definitely practice outside of class to stay caught up. I'll be taking her again for orgo 2.

Lanni is super knowledgeable and nice. I dont think that she is the issue when it comes to students (including myself) doing poorly in this class. Its orgo, the material is going to be hard no matter what. Only complaint is that she moves really fast so for those who take a little longer to grasp a concept she may not be the best choice.

Dr. Lanni is the BEST teacher in the chem department in my opinion, this class just kills.

Dr. Lanni is the best!! She explains the concepts really well in her lectures and showed a lot of examples in her notes. There are practice exams/review questions that are posted before each exam to help you study, and the exams have extra credit available. I have never written a Rate My Professor before but it's worth the time to warn people against this professor. She genuinely does not care about her students' success and makes no attempt to make this class doable in any manner. The grading on exams is absolutely ludicrous and the practice tests often don't align with real exams. Avoid if possible.

Yes, there are easier professors who teach much slower in the beginning and then race through the last five chapters in a month. If that's what you need, take their section. But I did well with Dr Lanni. She had positive energy and really cared that we succeeded. I'm taking her 334 section too.

I loved organic chemistry and learned so much with Dr Lanni. She taught with organized lecture notes, gave hundreds of practice questions, made retrosynthesis seem like a puzzle, explained reaction mechanisms in depth to show what bonds broke and formed, helped in office hours, reported cheaters, and gave extra credit on all exams. She cares a lot.
