Laura was a great teacher, she explains concepts thoroughly and ensures you understand the "how" and the "why". Very approachable for extra help, Laura will always go that extra mile for her students. You will only be tested on what she has taught you and as any class, you will need to work.
Exellent teacher. respects the students. highly recommended. just work hard in her class and you will get even an A.
Laura is good?!Come on! She is terrible! Do not take her classes!
not my favorit teacher.find somebody better.sorry
Laura is a pretty rad teacher. you have to pay attention and work hard to stay on top but she covers material very thoroughly and makes sure you know what to study for tests. she's kinda cute too...
A great professor that encourages continuous learning. Easy to get along with and great fun, Laura takes an interest in students and goes the extra mile for them.
She thinks everyone is on par with her.... Skips steps in examples and assumes everyone knows what she's talking about.
She is stright forward and goes though lots of examples, and most of the quizzes are exactly like the examples.
very helpful but the student needs to make the effort to seek help.
She is terrible! Makes mistakes on the board and then erases them and tells you she made a mistake but can't find it because she erases everything right after she does it. She is still learning the ropes. Hopefully she gets better.
Really random with her teaching style. Starts examples then makes mistakes that leave students confused. Jumps around in the text book and shows A LOT OF PROOFS. When I would ask for help, she was never clear on the answer because she did not seem to know her self. Would not recommend.
This instructor provided tons of help with assignments and projects, fair marks, clear instruction, a reasonable teaching pace, and lots of in-class examples. Quiz and mid-term questions were exactly like the assigned practice problems and in- class examples. I found Laura to be both kind and intelligent. I really enjoyed her calculus class.
really good teacher, she will only test for things that's teached in class. Sometimes the questions in exams will be ones that she did right in class.
Marik was a very nice instructor who is always available to answer questions. The class is quite boring, but it is not terribly difficult. I would recommend this course and prof to someone who needs a cluster 1 level GNED for their degree.
Super boring, NEVER EVER uses text. EVER. I read it and often the most important things in class were not in the text. You HAVE to show up to class, which isn't awful but frustrating. She's very nice but not that approachable, once you do though she's helpfulish.
She gives alot of examples to clarify the concepts and she is always avaliable when you need her help.
Laura is a mediocre teacher for C++. She talks quietly and is very hard to interpret. She does a good job of teaching the material, which is just atrociously hard. Her quizzes are small and her midterms are evenly distributed, unlike other profs who just bunch the marks on the program. Recommend? Only if you can't find a better prof.
Laura is a very helpful teacher who spends extra time after class helping students understand C++ and their assignments. She's very approachable, understanding, patient, and very nice on late assignments. She likes cookies and puzzles from Steeps the Urban Tea House. Such a model instructor!
Laura is basically the best teacher you can take for C++. She is extremely caring about her students and goes out of her way to help if you ask for it. She stays late to help students out, is clear in her lectures, has fair exams (except her final which was a bit tough but not impossible). Easy marker too. This being said, you must work hard to pass
Like the rest of my peers (well, 99% of them), I think Laura is a remarkable teacher. She taught all the C++ topics in a precise and comprehensible manner. She is a fair marker and is extremely helpful and patient (especially on the assignments). While the final exam was tricky, it was completely fair given the high standards of this course.
Thank God for her, she is probably one of the best professors in MRU. she explanations are soo clear, and she you ask for help, you are guaranteed to understand her explanation.
She is a real great teacher, Super good examples in class and very clear on the power points. It is highly recommended you go to class to get notes though! some of her assignments can be kind of vague but other then that all her quizzes are super straight forward. Highly recommend!!
The best teacher ever for C++. Highly Recommended!
Awesome prof. Another easy A for Laura [thank u Lord!]. The lectures can be quite dry & boring sometimes but everything u need to know is pretty much covered in class. Her quizzes & tests were obvious. Just do the practice problems given, skim through her notes & your set. Assignments were sometimes a bit vague but still a very manageable course.
Laura's explanations in class are not what you'd call amazing. She might try her best to explain, but you have to be initially pretty good with computers to follow. Starting from the 3rd class she start's zooming through the course, and doesn't spend much time to make sure a certain thought is clear. I'd say her marking is quite harsh too.
Extremely helpful. Possibly the best computer related professor I have had in a long while! Is willing to stay long hours after class to help you with your project, questions, etc. Laura, you are Awesome!!
This class in incredibly hard! And I am an A student. I find her lectures ok but she does a horrible job of presenting the concepts. I would put money on it that the rest of the class is really really struggling... after the withdrawal date half the class was gone! she's somewhat helpful, but her assignments are vague and also all over the place.
Was very scary at the beginning (especially if you haven't taken a sci/math class since high-school). Study as best you can, and try your hardest. Laura is very fair in her marking. Did way better on the final than I thought, and ended the class with a 93. Take your time on her assignments (she will give you an amazing grade if you do).
Laura obviously tries hard to help her students understand the material. Examples are something she does a lot of, which I find extremely helpful. She's sometime difficult to listen to when she's presenting, but next to that.. The class itself is okay, but she definitely makes me feel more comfortable with the material.
Laura is not a good prof at all. If you are placed in her class, I recommend switching to another prof. First of all, she is very boring, and doesn't keep things interesting. I skipped probably half of her classes because lectures were pointless, and I could learn everything on my own.
Laura is a good Proff. but if you are not good at math this is a hard course to wrap your head around. I needed help outside of class or I would have failed this class. Laura does have practice questions and quiz's every week to prepare you for the exam but it is a lot of hard concepts to learn in a short amount of time.
Laura is a great prof! She's funny, upbeat, and really smart without making you feel like you're not. She is so nice and makes sure every student is on the same page with materials. She makes grade distribution very even, and she does whatever she can to make sure you do well in the course. I really enjoyed her as a prof, and enjoyed the class too
Laura is a very nice person and knows what she is talking about. Don't really need to show up to class if you understand the concept because everything is posted online. Very willing to help if you have questions, but the class itself is kind of a bore. Very easy though.
Laura is a sweetheart! This class is a breeze, and she makes it even easier to get through. If you can take her class do it! The class is dry, but she does her best to liven it up. If you ever need help she's there for you 100%. Responds to emails quickly too.
Laura is a sweetheart, really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Before the final she sat in the math help room for hours helping myself and others from the class relearn concepts. Her tests were fair and while her lectures can be boring (because it's calculus) she is funny and makes them bearable. Great job Laura, I'll miss you!
Great prof
Laura is so sweet ! Extremely helpful and truly wants students to do well. She really cares about student feedback and implements our suggestions within her teaching. She is so kind and super funny ! Absolutely love her. Thanks Laura for a great semester.
Laura is an amazing professor. She helped me understand Calc concepts faster than I thought I could and made an intensive (8 course) semester bearable. She is also a student herself, so she is very understanding of what her students are going through, and will set aside time to help you until you understand what you had trouble with.
Laura helped make the concepts in this class much easier to understand (as the textbook is horrible). She's funny, and a gracious marker.
Well people it's Linear Algebra, what can you expect. haha. But if you have her as a professor do all the home work, because all quizzes are derived form that. Also remember the proofs and theory it will come up in tests and the questions are no brainers if you have done the work.
Homework is a necessity in this class. Pay extra attention to theory questions.
Great.
Laura was an amazing teacher, put in a bit of effort and you'll do fine in her courses. The material (linear algebra) itself is rather difficult, so do expect to have to work a little if you're not familiar with matrices at all.
Definitely a great GPA booster. Good marks with minimal effort. Lessons can be boring at times but if you sit through them and take note of key points, you'll ace the quizzes, and also be there for the classes that they will be doing Participation. Fairly an easy marker. Would recommend :) Good Luck.
Laura is by far my favourite professor!! Genuinely cares about students well-being and success in the class. Makes little jokes to keep the content fun (calculus can be very dry). Tests are fair and her marking criteria is easy. An amazing person, amazing prof and it would be a mistake not to take her class. Love love love her.
Laura is one of the best profs at MRU!! I already had two classes with her she's so understanding and tries her best to help you out. She's really cute and funny too sometimes. Would love to have more classes with her. :)
One of the best profs at MRU, and the nicest person you'll ever meet ! Caring, flexible on dates, good lectures, accessible, very reasonable questions on tests (all are from inside the book, and same level as done in classes). I would take her again anytime I can.
Laura was one of my favourite profs last year. She genuinely wants her students to succeed and offers lots of support outside of class. She is quite quirky, however one of the most intelligent people I have encountered at this school. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she is great at explaining! She also gives partial marks on test questions.
Laura is really great at explaining difficult concepts, and keeps her lectures interesting with little jokes. She's also really nice and wants to see her students succeed. Would definitely recommend, I was dreading calculus but she made it bearable. Unit tests are best 3/5, so you don't need to worry if you have to miss one or two.
Great choice for calc 1, tests are completely manageable as all the questions are from the textbook. Good notes but you have to go to class to get them as she doesn't post online, lots of examples and she is more than happy to go over a question in class if you ask her! Go to class, do the questions, get help if you need it and you'll do great!
Great teacher
Laura's teaching style is a little unconventional. You have to follow along as her method of teaching is mostly going through examples pretty quickly. That being said, she stays on top of the material and doesn't fall behind for the timeline, and she provides practice tests before her midterms. Plus you can make cheat sheets for the exams.
Laura is a very sweet lady, kindof quirky but super nice. She is probably the easiest marker ever. There is a group project but it isnt that bad. If took basic math in school youll fly right through. Put on the effort (take notes and study) and its an easy A!
Nice lady but she doesn't know how to teach Comp Sci. You have to learn the material on your own. She expects you to learn on your own and her lectures are dry and confusing. Very easy marker though.
Lectures tended to be very confusing and most topics had to be self taught. Not sure if this is a blessing in disguise because that tends to be the Computer Science field.. however if you're looking for lecture heavy classes I'd recommend a different prof. Easy marker.
Calculus is not an easy class, Laura does a really good job getting the important parts across and does want everyone in her class to succeed. You have 3 tests and a final, she prepares you very well for the tests and she is always available out of class times.
Science Innovation of "switches" with Laura was the most random course, it was all over the place with the most random topics. However, Laura is a generous marker with a generous grading scheme & if you pay attention/review for the tests you should be fine. I've heard this class is super hard with other profs but Laura made this class a GPA booster
Calculus is one of my worst classes (thus the really low grade), but Laura really made it engaging. Definitely a solid choice for Math. I would say that if you haven't been in a math class for a while, then I suggest brushing up on some Pre-Calculus because the lectures did go faster than I would've liked them too.
Likes to give out part marks, which I definitely appreciated. She's a very sweet lady and is really helpful when you go to her tutorials and for math help.
Laura is a really fair marker and she cares a lot about her students. Her notes are also amazing, she is very organized and she always takes the time to help out students who are struggling. She's awesome for giving out part marks even when the final answer isn't necessarily correct. Definitely recommend her!!
Laura is super nice and fun! The work done in class were practice examples on the board to copy down. Homework problems were assigned in the textbook but not for marks. The marks in class were based on 3 term tests throughout the semester, 10 marks for tutorials, and the final (no quizzes). Laura gives great part marks if you have the right idea!
She made this class a breeze! I was sitting at an A+ with minimal work until the final which lowered my grade slightly. She explains concepts really well and is happy to have questions. Participation mark is showing up. Laura is funny, keeping the class light. She gives great feedback on tests and is an easy marker. Would highly recommend this prof
Laura is a great prof. You will have to do the textbook questions to do well on the tests, and there's quite a bit so space it out. She's very accessible outside of class and a nice/fair marker.
As long as your good with math , shes a very good prof . No homework .
As someone who has had to take calculus for the second time, the choice of which prof to go with would definitely be Laura. She explains difficult concepts in easier terms and breaks it down. Passed with flying colours with the help of her very generous part marks. Definitely recommend her!!
Honestly... Save yourself the trouble and choose a different professor, unless youre ready to sleep! She does not speak up and does not explain anything. It sounds like a shy kid doing their homework aloud. I feel that sometimes she is unaware that she is teaching a class of 35 people trying to pass this course and get a degree.
Laura seems somewhat confused but overall is a good prof. There is no surprises on the quizzes at all. Pay attention in class or go through the powerpoints and there is almost no reason not to ace the class. Shes understanding as well for lates.
I've already had her twice, and I must say she is an amazing professor. She is always willing to help. As long as you pay attention and try to do practice problems you will ace her class.
Took Laura for Math 1200 and ended with an A, so I decided to take GNED 1101 with her as well. Laura is an easy marker and bases her tests according to her slides. Easy A, definitely recommend to take Math 1200 and GNED 1101 with her!!
She is such a cute teacher and I absolutely love her. I switched teachers cause she had a better rating. I am usually bad at math and thought I would do good in stats in general but she is really wants her students to succed. There is a lot of assignments, so more to be graded. A lot of it you are able to do in partners
Laura MADE bstats amazing for me. I am not a math-y person but she explains things in a way that is understandable and gives every student the chance to get the best grade possible. LOTS of work - an assignment, tutorial, or test every week. But this makes everything worth less which gives you the chance to do well. Loved her so much as a prof!
If you show up and pay attention you'll pass
Laura is a fantastic prof! 100% would recommend especially if you're not good at math like me! She is fast when answering emails. Lots of work but she gives you more than enough time to finish it in class after her lectures! She is a little quiet so sit at the front if you can! Otherwise, can't wait to take another class with her! Easy marker!
Laura is kind and adorable. The lecture is really clear and easy to understand. Test is based on what we did in the class and examples. If you didn't understand anything, just go ask her. She will help you understand. I was really happy to take her class. If i get a chance to take one of her classes, i will definitely do it.
Laura is very quiet and can be awkward but she knows exactly what she's talking about and is a phenomenal teacher. If you show up and do all the tasks and tutorials you will pass for sure.
She was quite nice, her test and assignment policy was amazing, and I really appreciated it when I was testifying diligently for other classes. You will love her! She does sometimes talk very quietly so listen up! Also she posts her slides after the lecture in class you miss class. Best if you show up though!
A solid teacher. She makes the class very straight forward and I've had no issues with her. The most important thing is to show up to class and don't be afraid to ask questions if you need help. If you do that, it's an easy A. If I have one criticism for her, it's that she needs to be more vocal in her class because she's the silent type.
She is one of the beat profs I have seen so far. Extremely nice and personable. Good to the point lectures. I would take all Math classes with her if I could.
I love Laura, she was an awesome prof. She's pretty quiet, but she knows what she's talking about. She's also great with re-explaining things and will give you pretty much all the answers for the in class assignments. She also drops 2 or 3 of your lowest quiz marks. This class was a breeze, take it if you want the easiest A of your life
Am I allowed to say she's cute? Laura is ultimately a very kind-hearted person, she's very quiet at times but if you listen closely you'll have a good giggle at some of the quirky things she says. There's a worksheet once a week that she's really good at giving help with when asked and her tests aren't super difficult. Listen or you'll be lost!
I don't know how she usually teaches in the actual classroom, but this class was so easy online. Three big assignments(three tries on every question), she records the entire lecture so you don't need to attend at all, the labs are super easy and she only takes the best 5 marks, no midterm, and a final which is basically the three assignments joint
Laura is an old soul that teaches math practically and it very understanding to students. If anyone thinks that she goes to fast, ya'll need to try and keep up a little better.
Laura is a good prof, i also had her last semester for a GNED and ended up with an A. This stats class is only based off of 10 quizzes (drops the lowest 3) and the final, and her lectures are only 50 minutes. She uses lots of examples too and doesn't make stats confusing, which i thought it would be. Definitely recommend
This class was very stress-free with everything being online, Laura had awesome lectures where she went in-depth and provided examples that would be on assignments or quizzes. This was the one class where I did not fall behind as there were set times for assignments which made life a lot easier. THANK YOU LAURA FOR A STRESS-FREE CLASS <3
Laura is an incredible professor and is always willing to slow down and explain any concepts that you may not understand. As long as you show up to lectures or watch the lectures after they have been posted it is easy to get good grades. She is very forgiving as she graded tests based upon the best 3/5 grades. I would highly recommend this course!
Classes were often monotonous, but it is an easy A course! Goes over lots of examples. Our focus was computers and binary numbers for the semester. Tests were best 3/5 and there was no midterm, the tests we had were well spaced out and fairly easy. Overall, a very easy class and a good way to boost GPA! Would recommend having Laura as a prof!
Laura is one of the best profs I ever had in MRU. She is really amazing at teaching and is very knowledgeable. She always there for students who need her help. I will highly recommend everyone to have her as a professor.
She is Great! I took her class in winter 2021. All the lectures were in video format, so we had to do it ourselves. She only went through in-class questions during class time and explained everything perfectly. There are a lot of lecture videos to go through, but overall a great class!.
I'm taking her in Spring 2021 and let me just say she is such an incredible professor. She responds so fast, she's willing to do extra problems with you, accessible outside of class, she's super kind and just overall a great individual. It is test and lecture heavy, however, she goes over everything in class so it shouldn't be too bad.
Had laura for MATH 2333 in the Spring, a very easy class. Lectures were long but very clear and concise. Tests were not very long. Had 5 assignments, 2 midterms, 1 lab test, and one final. Easy A
Lauras class was difficult and unorganized. We never knew what was going on and lost marks for random things. We got quizzes every Tuesday, had to teach ourselves everything using google. This class ruined my gpa. I spent way too much time working on it. There were also 3 assignments that took a lot of time to complete with horrible instructions.
The class itself was pretty easy, but I had to reteach myself everything after her class. She was really nice and respected us but often her instructions were unclear and explanations confusing and over-explained. For the first little bit, I relied on rewriting her notes & internet searches. Luckily, her marking is easy so I'd still take her again.
She's just FANTASTIC. Her lectures are online but I once asked her if she could meet with me on campus and she showed up just so I could have a one-on-one with her. Her feedback is great, her lectures are very educational, and is never troubled by students asking questions. Patient, supportive, and understanding. 10/10 professor; 100% recommend.
Laura is quiet and may seem a little bit awkward, but her lectures are great and her feedback is very useful. Weekly labs and three major group projects, but she marks well and is not nitpicky with her grading scheme. Awesome, caring, and very patient.
I juggle her class with 4 other courses but she makes it possible for you to move at your own pace by letting you have the choice to come in to class or just watch her recorded lectures online. Her explanations in her videos are very aligned with the assignments and tests she assigns! This class is an easy A+ and a GPA booster. Take her if you can.
Professor Marik doesn't seem to plan her lectures at all and will say random information without actually knowing it's true. She doesn't inspire confidence in her ability to teach the course, she is not engaging, and lacks time management. A saving grace was that she records her lectures, which I watched on 2x the speed and still got everything.
GNED 1101 was one of the easiest courses I have taken so far, being a first-year university student this class was set up to get a good grade. show up in class, pay attention, do the work and this is an EASY A. I'v had many others mention this is one of the easier gned courses. she is clear on what she expects. assignments and quizzes are SO easy.
This is one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Need to boost your GPA? then this is the class for you.
sweet prof, good grader. both asynchronous & synchronous classes (about 6 mandatory classes?).lots of work to do, pretty time-consuming. pick a good group cause there r 3 group asgmts worth 40% of ur grade. no midterm, u have weekly mini-quizzes worth 1% each which keeps u on top of stuff but it was semi tedious ngl. put in the time n you'll be ok.
already wrote a review but I also wanna mention: STUDY FOR MINI-QUIZZES ATLEAST THREE DAYS PRIOR, it will help u so much. KNOW THE MATERIAL its genuinely not that hard I was expecting worse. they make the asgmts dramatic w/ all the info on the rubric. final is asynchronous & similar to asgmts (style-wise), took a while but was not super difficult.
Laura is one of the most amazing professor I have for my first semester at MRU. Her class was amazing. She tried it more enjoyable as sometimes online class are boring. I enjoyed her class especially with the group project. However there will be a lot of homework's (easy marks), quizzes, projects! If you put in the work, I would recommend her!
She is patient and encouraging for learning environment. If you have questions, you can just wait for her in the math help room.
I had her for spring math 2333, and she made recorded lectures and had online classes during the in-person classes for those who couldn't attend in-person every week. Tests were in-person though. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she is very helpful. The examples in class, especially on the practice tests are very similar to the midterms/final.
Amazing. Goes through textbook/assignment questions in lectures and gives lots of examples. Helpful and welcoming to questions. Midterms and final was easy and comparable to textbook questions.
Amazing lecturer! she recorded every class for those who could not make it to class, this provided flexibility and was really helpful to follow through the class. She was accessible outside of class & provided helpful feedback. She provides review questions before each test. Get her if you can she is organized, kind, hilarious, and super helpful:))
Laura was probably my favourite prof I have ever had, this is coming from someone who has always barely understood math. If I had shown up to class more and studied harder I would have gotten a higher grade. (Keep in mind I have a few more assignments to do).
she is awkward but a funny, caring professor. you will enjoy the class
Laura is a great prof. She is a little awkward but very friendly and more than happy to help you out. The tests had very similar questions to the practice questions she provides. Just make sure you practice the material and ask questions when needed, she wants students to succeed
Laura is incredibly flexible & goes out of her way to make sure students can succeed. Class was in-person but all lectures streamed & recorded. Always available for support, very clear & generous grading policies. Slightly disorganized sometimes but makes up for it with her subtle humour. Was my 2nd class w/ her & will take more with her if I can!
Honestly this is the easiest class ever. The professor is very easy going and she only does term exams there are no quizzes. But there is a group project that she makes you present um the only place she marks hard is when you are presenting. But if you do everything according to the criteria she put out you will do just fine.
Great Professor
(I actually took 1185 but it wasn't an option) I suck at math. I got an A+ in Laura's calculus class. She is an AMAZING professor who is very calm, clear, and gives lots of examples to make sure you're prepared for the exams
Laura is a really solid professor. She makes it easy to ask questions about anything, and is a fair marker. The homework isn't all that difficult either.
She was wonderful and considerate. I learned so much from her and her mental math skills are incredible. When a question in the software didn't meet her high standards, she fixed it and helped us understand why it wasn't a good question. She took the time to explain my calculator to me. She's the best - and really funny too!!
The best Math prof I have ever had in my 5+ years in university!
Laura is an amazing prof and human being. She really cares for her student's success. Her tests are very similar to questions in class. She makes concepts easy to understand and is approachable. I will vouch for Laura any day!
Laura is the nicest prof I have had in a long time! She is so sweet and approachable, and I have a very good average in the class despite never being good at math. She cares about her students, if you show up to classes and actually give it your best effort you will be fine! She is so funny and kind, I highly recommend taking her class!
Laura is so sweet! She is always willing to spend extra time with students who may be confused with content. Laura always provides beneficial lectures with thorough explanations. I have absolutely adored my class with her. Ive never been the greatest at math oriented classes but I have been doing great in this class--all thanks to Laura.
Laura is a great professor, I don't know why other students complain about her but she's easy to talk to and always gives good feedback on your assignments. The textbook is not mandatory but she uses it sometimes, doesn't mean you have to get it...I got it and it was a total waste of my money Get ready to use latex in all your assignments though
Laura has been the best prof I have encountered so far. She is very nice and approachable and is able to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Her tests are very similar to homework and class examples, making this class more enjoyable and easier to prepare for exams and tests
Laura is sweet, she is super quick and to the point with her lectures. She gave out lots of practice questions to help you prepare for test. She has 5 test the whole semester and a final (no midterm) I took a 3 hr class once a week and her lectures only lasted an hour and then you could leave and do hw at home.
I recommend taking this course alongside MATH 1505
If you show up to every lecture you can easily pass the final with an A. Take GNED 1103 alongside this class. There is usually a good amount of overlap.
Laura is very sweet. Clear with what is on tests and she gives you lots of chances for easy marks. No midterm. Just 5 tests and a final. The class was once a week and sorta long (3hrs) but she uses the second half of class to ask questions or you can do the homework elsewhere.
Laura is super chill, and a very sweet prof. The content, in my opinion, is uninteresting, but Laura made the content easy to digest, and the tests and practices weren't difficult either. I definitely recommend Laura if you take this class.
Laura is very kind and you can see her care for her students when she teaches. she is very helpful when it comes to explaining things a second time or even during tutorials. Overall, I'm very glad that I took this class with her. She is an amazing soul.
I found enjoyment in Laura's class. I enrolled out of curiosity, and I'm pleased I did. Her passion for the subject shines through, and she created a supportive environment where I felt at ease admitting when I lacked knowledge. Her honesty in acknowledging gaps in knowledge is reassuring for students like me who value humility in instructors.
Laura is one of the most understanding profs Ive ever had. She is very accommodating and does her best to make sure everyone succeeds.
Laura is a sweet and approachable prof. The content is manageable, with plenty of practice and easy grading. Unstuckstudy helped me breeze through the math-focused material.
Very nice teacher who explains class concepts very clear and concise. Provides very well written feedback and is clear on expectations. Would 100% recommend.
She's probably the best Math teacher out there i suggest also taking Innovation with her causes she's that good of a prof🫡
I was excited to take this course as the description said it would be a combination of math and history. How wrong I was. Pure mathematics. This Prof wasn't helpful for my learning needs. She gave a textbook that was all theory with no practice problems. She wouldn't always explain concepts well, and didn't have any posted office hours.
I have never been good at math so I was scared going into this class but I ended up finishing with an A+. Attendance is not mandatory but I think it's worth going. However, she does upload the lectures onto D2L after class. I would definitely take another class with Laura!
Laura is very sweet and friendly. So many chances to earn marks: participation activities, practice tests, and tests plus final exam. Usually lectures 1st half of class then uses 2nd half for test or time to do participation activity. I'm not great at math, content was hard at first but got better over time. She's always willing to give extra help!
Great teacher, posts lecture material online, responds to emails quick, makes it clear what's expected of you. Gives lots of practice questions and is accommodating. Do the practice questions/show up and you'll get a high mark.
When I asked her for help, she did not know how to help me when it came to the question at hand. Her teaching style was incredibly bland and did not help the class progress in understanding the concepts within the course. Find another prof for this course.
Quick to respond to emails, recorded lectures to review. has 3 tutorial times incase a different day worked better some week. Very accessible outside of class for extra help. Has a list of questions that we could practice from the textbook for each chapter. After a terrible experience with another prof, I was pleased and recommend Laura to others.
Your grade is composed of 5 exams (40%), 7 participations — lowest 2 dropped (10%), 5 practice tests (20%) and a final exam (30%). The class was relatively easy even though math is not my strong suit, but it was also too disorganized given the money spent on the course. Laura is nice, but regularly made mistakes and always showed up late to class.
Laura is a sweetheart. She is super accessible outside of class and will sit down with you to explain topics you dont know. if you are going to take a math class take it with LAURA!!!
Material can be hard to enagage with so ask questions if u dont understand! Email for extra help and she will answer quick! posts all lecture notes, you can drop your worst test mark, 3 tests, 1 final.Tests are fair. Attend lectures, truly understand, study for tests, and you will do well. Laura is truly so sweet and amazingly smart!
