She is a great teacher! She has very clear guidelines and makes you feel totally comfortable if you are nervous. Very easy class and a very cool teacher. Just follow the directions and you will pass.

I wish more people would write her reviews. If you need to take speech, TAKE HER! No doubt about it the best possible teacher for a speech class. Guaranteed an 'A' for getting up in front of the class, even if you stumble and forget a bunch of lines. Taking her online is even easier. I am so glad JJC has someone like her!

If you are at all intimidated by public speaking take her class. She interacted with the class well, and gave positive feedback. She made class enjoyable. If you take the WEB course, make sure you get all of your assignments in on time. This instructor also offers some easy extra credit points. I would recommend her as a professor of speech.

I loved having Laura as a teacher! She made speech class exciting and not scary at all! I took this class online over the summer and I enjoyed how we only had to go into class four times to give speeches. She gives a lot of extra credit at the end of the course, but you probably won't need too much of it because the disscussion questions.

Best teacher ever! Very outgoing and loves what she does. I missed a deadline for a test, and she allowed me to turn it in late. Very understanding and great person. Just remember, everyone is just as scared to present their speech as you are, so have fun and be creative!

Very good teacher, very helpful, was great with getting back to you with answers to your questions. She took the time to help, all you have to do is ask. Speeches were easy topics, something you would be interested in and therefore more comfortable to give. I recommend her 100%.

Best teacher I've ever had at JJC. She knows that we all get nervous about going up in front of the class, but works with you and makes you comfortable! So helpful in every way possible and wants to see you succeed. If I had to recommend a teacher for speech I would definitely choose her!

Was a little nervous coming in to this class, however, Marqua made it VERY easy to handle. Hardly any assignments, but if so, they are easy. Open book for quizzes/tests. When grading the speeches, she is extremely lenient! Very energetic, kind, and understanding, loved her as a professor!

Great teacher. I was terrified to take a speech class but she made everybody feel comfortable. I took a blended class. There's only like 4 campus visits and the rest is online. Highly recommend her to anybody.

I signed up for her online class. She was very nice and helpful. Overall curriculum wasn't hard so as long as you try she's a pretty fair grader!

I suggest taking her hybrid course. The meetings are only every two weeks, which is convenient. Very upbeat personality. She is also a very easy grader. She was very prompt when responding to questions and concerns. Speech class was daunting, but she tried to boost the morale of the class. She gave a bit of extra credit at the end also.

If you're afraid of public speaking like I was, take Professor Marqua! She is SO nice and makes you feel comfortable presenting. I was dreading this class and put it off for two semesters because I was so nervous - but this class was a breeze! 4 speeches, some discussion posts, midterm, final and you're done! Way better than I expected it to go.

Speech in general is not a fun class, but Marqua made it so much less stressful. If you are terrible at public speaking, take her. She grades leniently and does not make you feel uncomfortable. She knows that no one is excited to be there. One of the nicest teachers I've ever met. Pretty easy grader and you get to use note cards on all the tests!

ProfMarqua was great. I hate public speaking and was petrified to take this class as GEN ED requirement but ProfMarqua was the best. She makes the class super comfortable and we only had to meet 4 times for our speeches.

I couldn't say enough about this teacher. I was absolutely petrified at the thought of speech class. From the moment I walked in the door, she made me feel comfortable. Such a sweet lady and very understanding and comforting.

Pretty much if you do the outlines (four) and discussion posts (each week) she gives you full credit. The midterm is harder than the final so take your time. I recommend getting an online book and using Ctrl+F to find some of the answers. Google will not help you. Easy grader on the speeches. She knows you're nervous.

Not only an amazing professor but a really sweet and nice person overall. She always lets you know what's going on and she responds to e-mails quickly. The class itself is pretty easy as long as you read and do your speeches. She's very understanding and bright and enthusiastic about class. A great professor and easy class.

For everyone, public speaking is awkward and tough. This professor makes it so easy and so comfortable for you to get up there and speak. She is so helpful when needed and she gives you all the notes. All you have to do is show up for your speech day and you pass the class. She is very fun and laid back, definitely recommend her!

She is friendly and energetic. If you need help, she will help you (she replies to emails fast). The hardest part of this class is giving the actual speech. She goes over all assignments and rubric for speeches. We don't use the book in class, but she encouraged us to read a few chapters to help us prepare for the tests.

I took this class during the summer. We had 4 speeches,a few discussion board questions, two test which weren't hard. You need the book for test none of the test answers are online. What I didn't like is in order to do a speech, you have to find 10 ppl that are over the age of 16 to be there while you present your speech. A great professor.

Professor Marqua is such a good teacher!. If you need to take this class, take it over the summer because it only takes six weeks to get it over with.

Laura is the best professor I have had hands down! She recognizes that Speech isn't something everyone is very fond of but she makes sure everyone feels comfortable when they speak! As someone who is shy and doesn't like to speak in front of people, I enjoyed this class. She make you feel comfortable and she's really caring for her students. There are a few tests, but they're not hard. I highly recommend her for this class, especially if you're shy, but I think anyone would really enjoy her class.

Mrs. Marqua is fantastic professor and person. Very warm and enthusiastic, wants all her students to succeed. She understands that speech is very anxiety-inducing and does a great job of helping her students face that anxiety. Class was pretty straight-forward and easy. I would recommend Laura to anyone who does not like public speaking who dreads taking Speech. She made it really easy and does not grade too hard. I felt like I was nervous each time I went up there but never scored lower than an A on every speech. She creates comfortable environment and is open to how she could improve the class.

Extremely clear on exactly what she wants you to do for your speeches- allowed my section to use notecards as cheat sheets on our tests. Extremely understanding and an easy grader which is helpful in any speech class. I would probably die for her.

Mrs. Marqua is such a caring and understanding teacher. I had her 8 week hybrid course so showing up was mandatory (4 presentations, 4 in class meetings). Though, if you missed class you could present in the tutoring center. Definitely recommend Mrs. Marque she was amazing!

She is one of the absolute best Hybrid teachers I have ever taken. I highly recommend her Hybrid Communication class. She makes everything so simple to understand. All you have to do is follow all directions and take advantage of the extra credit.

Laura has got to be one of the best teachers I have had since I started here, at JJC. I was very anxious to take a communication class knowing I would have to public speak. But as class continued, I knew it was going to be fine. She was very clear with rubrics and gave us more than enough time for each speech, not to mention, lets us use notecards!

By far one of the best professors I've had so far at JJC. Very nice and understanding, gave all the students in my class use of notes on the test and cards during speeches. I was dreading this class and she made it way better with the structure, feedback, encouragement, and allowing us to talk about things we care about for our speeches.

She was very nice and made everyone in the class feel comfortable about speaking in front of each other. Goes out of her way to work with you, gives clear criteria for work, and wants her students to succeed. My favorite teacher by far. We need more teachers like her!! She gives amazing feedback and is straight forward with what you need to get the passing grade. Take her class. You will not regret it. Took Prof Marqua as a six week online summer class. Four recorded speeches, four discussion boards, two tests and four speech evaluations. SUPER easy grader and grades pretty fast. As long as you do the work, you'll pass. Pretty manageable work load. Highly recommend taking her if you can. All assignments are due on Sunday's meaning you get a week.

She is such a kind and sweet professor. I absolutely hate public speaking but I really liked the format of this class. She always left really nice comments on all of our assignments and was overall a really great and understanding instructor. Do not hesitate to take her!!

I took COMM 101 online and Mrs. Marqua made it very easy. Sent in recorded speeches with a live audience. Speech topics are fun and easy. She's a fair grader and will always give feedback. The textbook was only needed a few times so I suggest renting or borrowing a copy. Overall good class and she made communications a good experience.

She is really good teacher. You have to do total 4 speech as Life in a Bag Presentation, Informative Speech, Persuasive speech, and Toast Speech. You have to get 8 people on your own for online class speech. There're two exam that you can open any time and complete it in anyway you want. Very easy class. Totally recommend her.

She is a very understanding teacher. My zoom malfunctioned so I was not able to show my audience when I thought I did , but I still received an A! Pretty easy class, just make sure you turn in your assignments on time.

Prof Marquas's online comm 101 was the best speech class. All of the speeches were very well explained, you are given weeks to work on them and record the speech to send to her. She is very accommodating if you miss an assignment. She is very easy to reach and communicate with as she responds quickly. I would 100% recommend.

For being an online class, she was quickly responsive to any questions you have, and for the speeches (there are 4) she gave great feedback so you know what to improve on for the next one. Other assignments were just discussion boards and comments back to your classmates, but other than that this was a super easy class, and it was easy to succeed.

The hardest part of this class was to find 8 people to record your speech in front of. The grading was straightforward and easy. There were a few quizzes throughout the semester-pretty easy. The speeches were things you chose. I would highly recommend her! She's very responsive and attentive. I enjoyed the class more than I thought I would.

This professor is truly heaven sent!! I just finished her online course this summer that was 3 1/2 weeks long and i was terrified starting out because of all the work. She made it super easy and as long as you turned everything in on time and gave effort in your speech, this class is an easy A! I will forever recommend her to anyone!

She has very clear guidelines and provides examples of speeches she like/wants you to create. Fairly easy grader and gives great feedback on both things you did well and things you need to work on. You need to read the textbook as most of the testing material is in the book, as well as discussion boards. I would definitely recommend.

best professor for comm101, took her online 4 week class and the workload was very managable and she was very leniant on grading speeches, the only downside to taking it online is that you need 8 audience members that are 16 or older for each speech but you also can have audience members through zoom or a facetime

I absolutely thought I was going to hate COMM101, but Professor Marqua is awesome! Speech topics are enjoyable and her grading is clear cut. She did offer extra credit for some workshops and I am glad I went to them. She is easy to get in touch with and is a very kind person. I highly recommend her class!

I took this class online and professor Marqua ran it very smoothly. The criteria is fairly straight forward, but if you don't understand anything she will respond to any questions and is very accommodating. Recommend!

The professor doesn't necessarily teach online, she provides her students with online textbooks and slide shows that help with homework assignments, the midterm and final exam, and the presentations that you have to give for the class. She does a great job giving feedback after your presentation and what you could work on/improve for the future.
