Definately knows her stuff, and an excellent teacher. Also very helpful in making sure you know the info. But she doesn't pull any punches with the exams, which are very difficult.
Goofy, but at least she has a personality. Sometimes a bit unclear in lecture, but she knows what she's talking about. If she doesn't know something, she won't pretend that she does. Extremely helpful. Tests and quizzes are tough but fair. You need to work, but I'd recommend her.
nice but not clear in lectures and doesnt seem experinced in teaching. doesnt make an effort to make things easy but her easiness seems to stem from her business or laziness.
Best teacher ever taken in biology. I finally feel that bio is not a sequence because she clearly explains and goes over examples to help students as much as she can. Will definately recommend anyone ready to work hard to her. no bio213 is easy, but her teaching makes it interesting & easy to understand. Awasome teach.
do not take her. Her lectures are all over the place and she is really not experienced. Her labs are ridiculous. Trust me, I have taken bio213 twice and thought Shepard was hard. I should have just stayed in his class
The class average is a 62% (a low D) and C average is needed to pass. More than half the class (60 ppl total) needs to retake the class. That really should say something about her teaching skills. She views it as a conquest when noone gets an A on her test and she doesn't curve at all!
Dont listen to the two pple under this. Dr. Martin is a good anp teacher and is very helpful. I came to office hours and her wonder review sessions and I recieved a 97% on the lecture exam, its not impossible, pple just have to learn that they need to study bc there is a lot of info. She is very passionate and loves to teach, she is sometimes a
Don't listen to the one person under me. Only take this class if you enjoy suffering and stress. Her fake smile is transparent and makes you wanna cry.
GREAT TEACHER, A LOT OF HELP OUTSIDE OF CLASS TOO!
That woman in the pic is not Dr. Martin. Dr. Martin is a good teacher and a nice person, too. Very organize and lots of help! You need to read the text and use her notes as supplement to do good in the exams. What is the purpose of passing a class without any effort, it's not high school!
she is a very nice lady that wants everyone to suceed in her class. the class is a hard class but if you study it is not impossible. her extra credit opportunities and the lab practicals will boost your grade. trust me, i had her for 213 and i thought i had it bad until i took Dr. Shepard who is 100X worse than her. she is easy compared to him
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Martin...so nice, so helpful...hard class no doubt and you have to go to lecture and lab...study labs are helpful also. always wants to help students and comes in for review sessions for lecture exams and practicals to help students...wouldnt take any other teacher for ap1 or ap2!
Very nice
good teacher. my advice: study hard, listen hard, get as much lab time as possible. her tests are predictable and she in no way tries to fool you, and that is why i took her for both semesters and got A's.
If you can i suggest taking someone else. She tries to be helpful but isn't very clear in what she expects and is a bit disorganized with her notes. Yes its anatomy and is going to be hard but when the class average for an exam is a 64% you would think there would be a curve but no she curves nothing. Study guides are not helpful at all!!
Shes a nice lady BUT PLEASE DON"T TAKE HER!!!!! her notes are very disorganized and all she ever does it talk talk talk talk. Draws arrows all over the place which makes it very difficult to know what she is pointing to. she wants you to learn but she isn't very good in teaching you what to learn. MY ADVICE IS DON"T TAKE HER!!!
BEST professor I have taken here. She is so caring and helpful and really takes her time to make sure everyone understands material. The class is hard and takes a lot of time and studying, go to her reviews and open labs and you will be fine! I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
Read the chapter, study the notes, take time to understand the notes, go to open labs, study reviews, email her questions, you'll do fine! She's extremely nice and willing to help as much as she can! The class is no-doubt hard, but not impossible! ;) I'd recommend her to anyone as well!
My 2nd time around in the class but she makes it much easier. I like her style of teaching a lot better than my last teacher. She uses the Elmo and you can write what she writes down. Outlines, Quizzes,Tests,Study Guides all on Blackboard and very helpful. You must Read and Study daily.
She is an excellent teacher who is very helpful with anything you need. The class is a hard class no matter how good the teacher is. The people who had a problem with Dr. Martin obviously didn't take advantage of the study sessions and probably did't put alot of effort into the class. That isn't the teacher's fault.
Wonderful and Knowledgable professor who is always been helpful. Her notes and study guides are on blackboard. She is clear on what she expect you to know. I would recommand her to everybody. People who have problems with her is probably because they don't want to work hard. The subject itself is hard. Work hard and you will do well!!
one of the best professor in biology department!! she is nice, always willing to help people! Tests wasnt bad at all, as long as you study hard, you will be fine!!
AMAZING woman. tough class no matter what but she is awesome. just keep up with the material and memorize. A+
Dr Martin always seems very stressed and rushed. She is extremely knowledgeable but somtimes cannot convert it to something you would understand. Quizzes are tricky, she will point out to you that some may have more than one answer, when in reality they dont. Nice person, but I would recommend a different teacher. Vaidya is a lot better of a teache
dr. martin is awesome!! i definitely recommend her to everyone that has to take either anatomy 1 or 2. she is always willing to help and she definitely cares about her students. she does seem rushed but what prof doesnt? her tests are a little tricky sometimes and so are quizzes but as long as you study and know the material you will do really well
Dr. Martin is very awesome and made this class very fun. Anatomy is an extremely hard topic no matter who teaches it but if you study on a regular basis then you will be okay. She is always willing to help. She is full of so much energy and can be all over the place at times. She is wonderful.
Dr. Martin is incredible. i suggest her to anybody taking anatomy 1 and 2. she is extremely clear on what she expects you to know and gives you many ways for you to learn the information that suits different people. anatomy will be really hard whoever you take but Dr. Martin makes it fun and interesting and i really love her! take her!!!
Dr. Martin is an awesome teacher. She is by far the best teacher that I have ever had in my entire adult education. I would strongly recommend her to anyone taking Anatomy 1 or 2. You will not regret her.
ANATOMY IS HARD. Now that that's out of the way Dr. Martin was GREAT! So fun and entertaining. Definitely a little tricky with some questions sometimes but is so helpful. Goes out of her way to ensure her students understand the material- definitely one of the best teachers at Towson.
Dr. Martin is the best anatomy professor at TU! She really wants you to succeed and will go out of her way to help you. She can be a little scatter brained but she loves anatomy and her enthusiasm defiantly is conveyed to the class!
Wonderful, enjoyable teacher and person. She really cares about your success.
I took her for 213 and 214. She is absolutely phenomenal! Best anatomy teacher Towson has to offer. Anatomy is tough point blank but she will do anything in her power to help you succeed. Amazing women as a person and professor, crystal clear in her lectures. She inspired me to only strive for the best, nothing less.
Absolutely love Dr. Martin - best professor I've ever had at Towson. Anatomy is super hard, and I failed it with another professor, but she goes out of her way to help students learn. She really cares about her class and is super interesting and fun, I would love to take her again for any other class!
Great professor!! really explains the concepts clearly, and gives a lot of opportunities to improve your grade.
Shes a sweet lady, but honestly taking her class has stressed me out way too much. She admits she purposely makes exams hard, so usually 80% of class fails them. Her notes are ALWAYS all over the place as she writes them out which makes it confusing. Def recommend Colleen Winters, had her for A&P 1, wish I wouldve took Winters!
THIS WOMAN IS AN ANGEL. i absolutely loved her and would recommend EVERYONE to take her. she cares so much about her students doing well, she honestly wants you to succeed. LOVE LOVE LOVE. i failed 214 the first time w/ another teacher, she's amazing.
Great great professor. She cares so much about her students and will do anything to help them. She actually CARES and wants you to you pass her class unlike some other teachers. Very motherly, very helpful. I would have failed anatomy with any other professor. Recommend everybody to take her. she is awesome
Great teacher, really cares about how well you do and encouraged you to do well if you didn't. it was a big class but she made it a point to know everyone's names. really goofy too which made the lectures less boring than they were. ALWAYS there if you needed help, always replied right away to her emails as well. Definitely taking her for 214
An excellent professor! Dr. Martin goes out of her way to make sure that the concepts underlying Anatomy and Physiology is understood by all. She truly cares for each and ever one of her students. She does her best to make the class as fun as possible (not an easy task). Very knowledgeable and has a great personality! Highly recommended!
Dr. Martin is one of the best teachers in the science department, especially for anatomy. She explains everything really well, always there to help you, and encourages everyone to do their best. Her tests are very fair if you study hard enough. Lab was so easy too. I would definitely recommend her for biol 213 and 214.
Incredibly disorganized and even admitted as much to the class. She's a nice person but I learned nothing from her, had to get it all from the book. Now that I'm taking standardized exams for grad school it's clear I learned nothing from her. She likes to have you memorize stuff, it lessens her actual teaching load.
Dr. Martin is the best professor I have had thus far. She is incredibly thorough and to the point with what she expects of you. Anatomy 2 is just hard in general but I totally recommend her for anyone. Wish I could take her again..
Good teacher, kind of goofy but is pretty clear on what exactly you need to know for the group quizzes and the exams. The hands on part of class is where you learn the most; talking with surrounding students and looking at boneshelping each other memorize. When she's going over slides it can get boring, but overall is helpful.
I hated Anatomy, but Dr. Martin makes it bearable. If you have to take it, do it with her. Although she appears to be unorganized and is a bit scatter minded, it does not affect her teaching skills. Always available for extra help, and is very clear about concepts, even though anatomy is a tough subject.
Best professor I've ever had!! I've never rated a professor before, but I had to do it for Dr. Martin because she is absolutely wonderful, for lecture and lab! Her lectures are crystal clear, but if you don't understand something (which is bound to happen) she is always there to answer questions. TAKE HER OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!
posts amazing lecture powerpoints and outlines on blackboard. save yourself some time and actually COME TO CLASS so you don't have to learn the lectures yourself. 3 tests and a final with several online quizzes. you really have to know your stuff to pass the exams, she puts a tricky questions here and there. extremely approachable!
A+P II will be a tough class no matter who you have, but she does a really good job focusing in on the important information that you will need for the tests. It is a lot of information, but she has ways of helping students keep all the information in order. She gives small group quizzes called mini practicals at the end of each class.
Professor Martin is very disorganized. That coupled with the fact that the class was very large made it very difficult for me to learn the content. I relied a lot on the book and PPTs. Her tests are tricky. She has exams from previous terms posted; sometimes she'll post an old question. This course requires some long hours if you want an A.
Dr. Martin is a wonderful person, but a bit disorganized. Study the PowerPoints, review guides, and practice exams and you will do well. This is a tough class and requires a lot of work, but Dr. Martin will answer any questions and wants to see you succeed. Quizzes are online and she drops the lowest 2. Book is unnecessary- don't bother buying it.
I love this teacher she's amazing and perfect and awesome.
Love Professor Martin. She records all of her lectures on PanOpto and posts them the same day, she has her notes in powerpoint form, word doc form, and she has review questions and practice exams for every exam. If you listen to the lectures more than once, fill out the practice problems and practice tests, there's no reason you shouldn't pass!
Prof Martin is a great teacher. She knows her stuff and she makes it really simple to do well. She records all her labs and posts them quickly, gives reviews for every test, extra credit. And she's funny!
One of the BEST prof's to take for A&P 2. She makes it easy to pass, you just gotta do the work. She posts her PPTs, Panopto recordings of lectures (which you can listen to as many times at home), and typed-out notes. Utilize these three things and you'll get the A you deserve. Plus she's quirky and offers EC q's on the exams. Definitely take!!!
Martin is super disorganized and contradicts everything she says. She has one PowerPoint saying one thing and then another PowerPoint slide saying the complete opposite. she makes it seem like she does not know what she's teaching. The only good thing is that she post recordings of the lectures online, that's the only reason i did well
Cares about her students and teaches as much as she possibly can. Sometimes falls behind schedule but her exams are fair. She posts plenty of outlines, past exams, and even records on panopto. Definitely ask her for help during office hours. Exams are multiple choice with extra credit. Quizzes are take home.
Records lectures. SUPER disorganized. She is... wow. Do yourself a favor and take someone else
Awesome AP2 professor! She is very caring lady who wants everyone to do well. She posts old tests, review guides and questions and even records all her lectures. As long as you stay on top of the work, you will do well. I definitely recommend taking professor Martin.
Dr. Martin is pretty funny and tries to make lectures as engaging as possible. That said, I fell asleep almost every class. Class is essentially memorization w/ the exception of the second test (some math/graphing) Best advice would be to label models AS SHE'S SPEAKING. Mini quizzes every class but they help. 3 tests you'll do well IF YOU STUDY.
Nice lady, knows A&P very well. Her 1st two tests were easy but the last 2 were extremely hard. Be sure to study the old exams she posts. My entire grade was 7 quizzes (the 2 lowest were dropped) that were 10 points each, and 4 exams that were 100 each. So you have to do well on everything!
She is one of few anatomy 2 professors the class is hard but she is confusing on top of that. She is very contradicting and her exams are really challenging. If you decided to take her make sure you focus on what causes things to change rather than what just changes.
She is very disorganized. The class is hard. She posts her powerpoints and panaptos on blackboard. Be ready to study and read.
She's nice and a little rude when asking for help. She uses panopto to record her lectures in case you missed class. TEST ARE HARD, go over powerpoint, review questions and old exam. Theres 7 quiz she count and drops the rest, 3 exam and a final (cumulative) l. I got 2 C's, 1 D on exam and an A on the final which brought me to a B- grade in class
I found Martin's exam wording to be easier than prof Evans tests were still difficult mainly application. Goes crazy fast in class, scattermind, and a little all over the place. Sweet but gives hardly any extra credit especially in comparison to Evans. Lectures were recorded which didn't help as much as I expected. Very specific info on exams.
Dr. Martin is a great lab teacher. She explains concepts clearly and is always available whenever you need help. Watching her pre-recorded lectures before class helped me a lot when we were still physically going to school.
Her exam wording is easy and gives good lectures. Such a sweet lady. You of course still do have to study well, but luckily she provides tons of resources to help you do so like study guides, old exams, animations, and she records every lecture
I would not recommend this professor to anyone who wants to succeed in online A&P2 . Her lectures are prerecorded and she has dogs and people talking in the background constantly. I could not focus for more than 5 minutes because she has so many distractions in the back. Its hard to succeed when your professor isnt putting in an effort to help.
Professor Martin was an amazing professor for A&P2L. This class is extremely difficult, but if you want to do well and work hard, you will succeed. Our grade consisted of weekly home works and 3 exams. You had unlimited tries on all of the home works, and extra credit was offered on every home work, and most exams. Definitely take Dr. Martin!
Dr. Martin has REALLY great powerpoints. All I did was watch her lectures, take really great notes on the powerpoint slides, rewatch the lectures and I finished the class with a 95%. She explains concepts so well and breaks everything down, people who complain about her just don't put in the work.
Dr. Evans is a great professor when she isn't super nervous. But sometimes she will get so nervous that she gets things wrong and will stumble over her words. She is a great prof for people who are visual learners. You need to go to lectures or at least watch the panoptos for things to really click.
Martin is very sweet but that doesn't matter when it comes to learning the material. She is very disorganized, all over the place, and messes up way too much. She simply goes too fast and talks to herself in between. I have her for lab as well and she does NOT label any diagrams making it simply hard af to really learn what's needed for her exams
spends lots of time explaining concepts and drawing things out. 4 exams and 7 quizzes. drops the 2 worst quizzes and gives a few extra credit options. very nice lady but can stumble over her words out of nerves. very flexible with quiz dates and genuinely wants her students to do well. she adds lots of info in lecture so take notes in class.
If ur a visual learner take Dr. Martin, shes the best. Her lectures are all put up on BB and exactly like in person. She breaks every concept down as much as possible w a lot of drawings so even if u dont get the ppt she will draw it out for u repeatedly. Wish I spent more time studying bc its a lot of material but easy to understand.
do not take her for lab!! she is absolutely terrible. she shows visuals on her ppt slides but does not go over the actual models/charts you will be tested on for your practical. if you take her, get ready to waste 3 hours in class just to teach yourself the material later
i loved a&p1 but martin ruined a&p2 for me. she is very sporadic during lectures and doesnt make much sense. its very frustrating to learn difficult concepts from someone who is unorganized and seems nervous.
I would not take Martin again due to the horrible study sources provided as well as the unnecessary homework. The homework is mandatory, takes FOREVER to do, and is EXTREMELY unhelpful. Take Evans if you can. It's too bad the homework isn't offered as extra credit, I dreaded it each week.
Prof Martin is a nice lady but like the other reviews say she is all over the place. She crams so much into every lecture and jumps from topic to topic. We almost never finished the content before exams so past content would travel on to the next exam. There are quizzes and exams .... class is out of 450 points so theres NO room for error.
Dr. Martin is very sweet and understanding. I felt like she treated me as an equal and we were able to have genuine conversations. Also, yes its scary only being graded by 3 exams but I got a 50 on the first one and did well on the last two and ended with a B so it can be done, don't give up after October. She posts a lot of resources on BB.
Towson University, Please find another professor to teach this course. Dr.Martin has not taught this course in 8-10 years and it shows. Her three hour labs are heavily lecture based. If you do not own an iPad or computer you can write on, do not bother taking this course. Dr.Martin would put her iPad under the document camera and annotate her (1)
powerpoints. She is very unwilling to work with students and has no flexibility. Very passive/aggressive when it comes to answering questions to the point where students genuinely feel uncomfortable to ask a question. (2)
The class has homework assignments for every topic that are very difficult to complete. 3 lab practicals and a mini-practical at the end of every class that can be completed in groups. (3) terrible.
Very knowledgeable and passionate. Gave us ample study resources including study guides for each exam and was always available by email/office hours. All lectures were recorded and posted. I always knew what to expect/how to prepare for exams. That said, anatomy isn't easy. Regardless of the professor, expect to spend many hours studying each week.
Literally so kind and caring, will make tests and assignments as easy as she can (which still isnt super easy since its A&P) She gives extra credit and she even added homeworks for us to have our grade more split up instead of only practicals, and so helpful during open labs. Records all her labs to rewatch, but you still need to go bc its lab.
Definitely not an easy class, but Dr. Martin cared about each student, gave extra credit questions on each exam, took the time to thoroughly explain each concept, gave many study resources, responded fast/thoroughly when I asked her questions via email, gave study guides for each exam, recorded & posted all lectures. Wanted each of us to do well
Dr. Martin is a great professor for my A&P Lab class! The grading criteria is clearly explained and she is very helpful out of class! If you do the work and study/attend open labs you should be fine in her class. Wish I had her for my A&P Lecture class!
Not exactly sure why she has very good ratings... She is a very sweet and kind person but definitely unorganized with lecture. Sometimes forgets parts to lecture and goes back many slides to correct herself and forward so many without warning. Please try to find another A&P professor if you can!
After seeing (almost) everyone averaged a low score on the 1st exam, all she said was that students who failed the class already are doing better the second time they're taking this course. Is that supposed make students feel successful? I dropped her class and was very disheartened by her statement. Very disorganized on lectures as well.
your work is graded only by difficult quizzes and exams. definitely unorganized and speeds through lectures, acting as if you should know all the info by now. do not take her if you can!
I loved Professor Martin. She was very personable and cared about how each student was doing in the lab and wanted them to do well. Her lectures move a bit fast but she does post recordings for each one. The mini-practicals and homework will be a lifesaver. She is open to communication and will answer any questions you have. Just show up to class!
i personally loved dr. martin. her lectures were a little disorganized, but as long as your actually going to class and are putting in your own effort to learn material, shes a great resource. she's funny, and a little awkward sometimes, lecture can be quick but i think thats just because theres a lot of info to cover.
i loved her sm. extra credit on every practical (there's 3) up to 6 points of extra credit. first hour and half is lab lecture, and then you have the rest to learn the material and then a mini practical at the end of lab. while mini practicals are only work 3points each, do ur best bc missing points can add up over a while. 10/10
LOVED this professor! She was very nice and cared about students. Her tests are straight from the power point she goes over curing lecture. I never read the textbook and got an A. I am taking her for Anatomy 2 next semester. 4 exams all 100 points. lowest is dropped. 7 quizzes, online, 10 points, lowest 2 are dropped.
every lab went the same: you go over the information, study it on your own/ with your table, and then you take a mini-practical on what you just went over. You take them with your table, so it is collaborative and you get to split up the information to make it easier. She gave homework to study and they acted almost as study guides for the exams.
Lectures are chill and she draws out everything to simplify bigger ideas-- not too fast paced. Exams have a lot of "all except" questions that can mess people up, but she records lectures and has a lot of extra resources to help... so failing exams with studying is very unlikely
Dr. Martin is a great professor and I had her for A&P 1 and 2 for lab and lecture. I think she's the best professor to take for this class. She is very knowledgeable and wants to see you do well in her class. Her exams are directly what she teaches, but there can be some trick questions sometimes. I would choose her over any other professor!
Not sure why her reviews are so high honestly. I've heard none of the professors are all that great but honestly go with Jason Wong. Prof Martin is very disorganized with her teaching. I have gained nothing from sitting in her lecture and I have taken similar classes in the past and done well. She does these confusing drawings that don't help.
one of the most kind and lenient professors I've had for hard science classes. It is made up of 336 points, but she gave an extra 27 points of ec. This class isn't hard, all you need are good study habits and hopefully you payed attention in AP1. Class average for blood vessel practical was 65 so study harder for that one. gets easier as it goes.
She is an awesome professor, but her teaching style might not be for everyone. If you are good at visualizing things, then take her. In my opinion, AP1 was harder, but it may be because of the professor. She gives a ton of credit, and exams feel way easier. I averaged around a 88 on exams in AP1 last semester, and this semester I averaged a 96.
PLEASE take Dr. Martin if you want to succeed!! Very caring and understanding includes A LOT of great practice questions (similar ones pop up on the exam!) and draws out pictures to help you visualize the material instead of just reading straight from the slides. Best prof ever, 10/10 all around.
I was at a D in her class, started going to office hours more to understand the material and ended up with a B+. She gives lots of bonus points to help boost your grade up and honestly the best professor for A&P1 and 2. I would take her again, she draws a lot so if u r a visual learner then take her.
Lecture was harder than Lab but only because it took much more time to study. Study!!! Prof. Martin does half the work of teaching you but the rest is on you to make it stick. Only ever learned from watching her videos (need to pause+rewind). Martin draws everything out first, which confused me more. Might help visual learners tho
I loved Prof. Martin. She's passionate about what she teaches. She goes over things multiple times in one lecture. It can get boring sometimes, but paying attention in class helped a lot. She records her lectures. We had four exams (the final is optional and drops the lowest score you may have gotten on a previous exam). The quizzes were online.
Lab was long and all over the place. she doesn't spell out terms, so it's up to you to learn how to spell them. Expect two- or three-part questions for just two points each, so pay attention in class. Spelling counts, so review terminology carefully. Regular studying and class attendance will set you up for success. if ur a visual learner, take her
Professor Martin makes the tough A&P lab manageable with resources like recorded lectures and extra credit. Collaborative mini-practicals and helpful office hours made this class doable. unstuckstudy was a great study aid alongside the textbook and homework.
Martin is super nice and even gives extra credit just for showing up. Her exams are all multiple choice, and the quizzes she gives help your grade. The only thing that's frustrating is she'salways late and still starts the exam late without giving back the time. You end up losing around 10 minutes because of her talking and showing up late.
The coursework was fine, but the professor was a nightmare. coming from someone that got an A in BIO 191, I stopped attending because I felt discouraged. She wasn't approachable, got irritated when asked questions during lecture, and during exams smiling when I got frustrated. Graded harshly with little feedback. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!
Dr.Martin gives so many good resources. She posts many documents with practice questions for each lecture, she posts the recorded lectures and she is always willing to explain further if anyone has questions. As long as you lock in and study well you will do fine. She does her job very well!
Most unorganized professor I've ever had in one of the hardest classes I've taken. She goes way too fast and yaps about the least important things leaving u confused every lecture. This is my 2nd time taking anatomy w this professor and it was horrible both times. Never been more stressed out and miserable. I recommend taking anatomy w anyone else.
She is a good professor overall, She provides a lot of extra credit (around 40 Points) . She provides recordings of classes and a lot of extra questions to practice on. If you are not a visual learner i suggest you take somebody else, she teaches a lot from pictures. I suggest to watch her previous semester lectures before class as she does go fast
