Professor McCallister is a very good experienced teacher. She will use you Mathlab HW as extra credit for 5pts extra on every test. She is willing to meet with you in her office if you need more attention. Im the student that has to put in the work in math, my current Grade is at 87.3 I'm hoping I reach an A. All students in my class respect her !!
Professor McCallister is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. I have struggled with Algebra my entire life. I have never gotten above a "D" in Algebra. Thanks to Prof. McCallister and my hard work I will finish this semester with an "A" . She is an awesome teacher who is very helpful and wants her students to succeed!!!
She took the time to ensure we all understood the notes and each section. There's lots of online homework which gets frustrating but you'll be thankful for the extra grade and practice for the tests. She doesn't care if you skip, but it's math so I'd advice not to. She was honestly the best math professor and I wish she taught more courses!
Amazing!!! You get homework on myMathlab, but she adds 5 points to your test if you get a 100% on the test review. She's always there to help. You get worksheets in class and work with others. If you put in the effort, you can easily get an A or B in this class. She drops your lowest test grade with whatever you got on your final exam.
Once you attend class everyday, on time, and prepared your sure to pass. Give her 150% effort and she does her best to give that 150% back to you. Love her. She is patient and kind. She is willing to help in anyway she can. I will be taking her again so you should too.
better than any math class I've ever had in high school. to the point and very helpful.
Professor McCallister is one of the best math teachers I've had. There is homework for every chapter but if you get 100's on the test reviews, you get extra credit toward your test. She is super super sweet and will help you as much as you need. There is no midterm and she doubles your highest test grade.
Professor McCallister is the best you could ever have. There is a lot of homework, but you get as many chances to work the problems over until you get an A. Don't bother taking the class if you skip class a lot. Showing up is a must. If it weren't for her I wouldn't have passed College Algebra.
She is a really good teacher, she is there always to help you, you must be puntual, she gave us a bunch of homework but is worth it you learn a lot. I love her and i would take other classes with her again.
She is like one of the best professors so far. I wish she had a class this summer but I know for sure I'll be taking her class this Fall. You can never fail if you attend her class. She explains every detail and goes over every material until you get it. She's never absent.
she is an amazing professor ! i would totally recommend her if you have a hard time with math she is very helpful and will help you one on one so you can understand the problem.
She was my professor at Lynn University, and she was a great help. She's a math wizard, so take her.
she's Is a good teacher, always was there to help with any problems. just do your work and show up to class and you'll receive a good grade. Be prepared for mymathlab
Took Professor McCallister for Intermediate Algebra passed with an almost B, took intermediate algebra a semester before and had failed. She really cares for her students and just asks that you do your mymathlab, take notes and give her 100% and you cannot fail. She is the most caring teacher in the world, taking her for college algebra now!!!!
I took Mat1033c and she's great! She lets you off on time, rarely early, never late. She is sweet and shows different ways to do a problem so that it can help different people in how they learn. She can be funny and super sweet. The hw is on mathlab and its a lot! Tests are fill in blank but she gives credit on questions a lot of people get wrong!
She is amazing if you have the chance take her class. She is so enthusiastic, helpful, and skilled as a teacher. She knows her stuff and knows how to present it.
She is such an amazing teacher! I failed intermediate algebra twice but once I took her, I understood everything I was doing better! She'll answer the same question multiple times until you get it. She gives a small lecture/answers questions then you work in groups and do mymathlab. Mymathlab work is harder than tests and everything is a grade
She is good. I love her she is the best. At the beginning she wasn't nice but one you get to know her you will love her. she cares about you. She will help you out side of class. She is the best.
SHE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR! SUPER CARING FOR HER STUDENTS AND HAS A GREAT PASSION FOR TEACHING. WISH I COULD TAKE HER AGAIN. 10/10
She was excellent. She is very energetic and involved with the class. She provides individual attention to anyone who needs it, yet somehow makes time for everyone. Grading criteria is very clear, and she is very good at explaining the concepts. I would strongly suggest her to anyone taking an algebra course.
Outstanding instructor. Professor McCallister really cares about her students. If you are horrible at math like me, I strongly recommend you take her class as I doubt there is a better instructor on the planet. As long as you show you are willing to do the work and attend class she will do everything possible to help you.
Great teacher, great lecture style, my favorite math teacher at PBSC
I have nothing bad to say! The class is very simple. You attend class, she lectures a little, gives you a worksheet and helps you if you need it, if you don't finish its homework. The rest of the homework is online. She's very clear on due dates and test dates. Expect to be in the classroom for the full class time, she does not dismiss class early.
Provides steps to problems rather than just examples. Lectures at the beginning of class then from the middle to end you are applying what she taught. Requires a lot of effort. She is amazing if you are willing to put the work in. NOT AN EASY A BUT A VERY REWARDING CLASS IF YOU DO RECEIVE AN A.
Took professor McCallister for Intermediate and College Algebra, she is incredible! Extremely fair and always willing to help. Answers questions even if they are asked more than once. All homework is on MyMathLab but you can make up any missed homework from the entire semester. She is GREAT!!!!
Professor McCallister is an amazing professor. She will help you learn the material and break down problems until you can understand them. I haven't taken a math class in 5 years and even then I struggled, but her methods and personality helped me get a B in both intermediate and college algerbra. Take her and do the work!
She makes math so easy. I am taking her class again for next semester. She explains everything so clearly and her test and homework is EXACTLY what she teaches. You have to be able to show up to every class to pass. I ended with an A and i only had to miss 1 class.
As a DE student, Ms. McCallister was so sweet. She really understands and is wiling to help. I'm not sure if it's bc I already knew my stuff, but she was a good teacher. Sometimes, she did make mistakes but she'd go back and review things if you asked her to. The tests are not multiple choice so you have to study but they're easy! I recommend her!!
Great professor, highly recommend. She explained the subject very well and was always available after class & at scheduled times in her office. I always felt that she genuinely wanted me to understand the subject.
This professor is incredibly misleading and unclear in her lectures. She has a tendency to cram pages and pages of notes into a 2 week period before a test and she does not provide a study guide. If you want to waste money, take her class. If you want to learn math and get good grades, take someone else.
If you are not already good at math, do yourself a favor and don't take her class. She gives okay notes and lectures but will skip entire sections and expect you to fill them in yourself. Homework, notes, and tests are completely different and she does not provide a study guide. Loved to give the class problems then laugh when nobody understood.
Best math Professor Ive taken in PBSC. Super clear when teaching. You have to put in the effort to get the grade.
She gives you multiple options to learn her matierial, including a weebly website she made for posting notes on and she posts Youtube videos as well. Tests aren't anything different from a normal class, but she excels in giving you all that you need (and more) to pass her class.
Amazing Professor! She is very student orientented and is always available if you need help out of class. She responds to emails quickly, has plenty of office hours, and will have a SI (or herself) be available a hour before class if you need additional assistance. Homework is not graded, however by doing it helps you on test and quizzes a lot!!
Professor McCallister is by far the best math teacher that I had. She takes time and her explanation are the best. I highly recommend her and if you want to have a great grade and understand she will always help you. My favorite teacher that I had since I am in school.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! Made me understand math for the first time, but I really had to work for it. She provides so many resources, and I feel genuinely prepared for all of her exams. If you struggle with math, and you're ready to work hard, this class is for you. She makes sure that the material is understood fully.
I took MAC1105 online and it was the best decisions that I have ever taken in my college career. I struggle with understanding math all of the time but this class provided students with videos, powerpoints, and even an online SI. Tip from me is to get an A on all of the little assignments, just if you so happen to have a low grade on the tests.
Best Professor I had. I mean BEST! I never was good at math, but with Professor McCallister I want to learn every topic we have. Take this Professor if you can. You will not regret, I promise. This is the first time in my life, when I take Exam/Test/Homework and feel confident that I can do it and get a good grade. You will not regret.
I could've had an A if I went to tutoring but that was on me, she is one of the best math teachers on boca campus, she didnt require to go on zoom every day because she knew some of us work, so she records the lectures, the homework help with the quizzes and the quizzes help with the test, requires a webcam for test and exams.
Professor McCallister is the best Math instructor I have taken on any level of school! Here videos (online class) and lecture notes break down what is a very detailed subject! She is so genuine and caring with all of her students and will go to any lengths to make sure you understand the material and encouraging your efforts along the way!
If I could offer any advice to anybody taking this course, please just don't. People are lying about her reviews on this platform. Take somebody else to preserve your mental health (I'm serious). Very incapable professor.
Not a good teacher; no compassion. Her tests are nothing like the homework. Her study guides and practice tests were nothing like the final or tests. This made it so hard to prepare for the tests and get good grades. Powerpoints and textbook doesn't help, be prepared to teach yourself and get tutoring. Doesn't raise grades or give any extra credit.
I hated every second of this class
Absolutely ridiculous. Do not take this class, no compassion at all. You have to teach yourself.
The worst professor Ive taken so far. Whatever you do DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor McCallister is a great professor. She is less structured that some others at Palm Beach State in the way she presents her lecture; however, she teaches in a way to help you remember the information long term. She has so many resources and loves to help students in all aspects of life, not just math. She is very accommodating as well.
Prof McCallister is fantastic. Calc 1 is tough, and she makes it manageable in many ways. She provides prerecorded lectures for some of the chapters, may curve test if there are no 100s, and she replaces the lowest test grade with the final. You'll need to stay on top of all the homework because calculous is tough. Don't fall behind. Loved it!
Professor McCallister was available outside of the classroom. She gives great tips and feedback. I would definitely recommend this class to other students. Good luck to you yall. Be ready to work outside of class go to SI or whatever works for you.
Though my class was fully online and you had to learn from the textbook yourself, do not hesitate to contact Professor McCallister by email. The few times I did email her for help at the beginning of the class, she was very helpful and very understanding. Read the syllabus because no late work is accepted.
Absolutely terrible. Brought GPA down. I received a B, still believe it was very unfair. She is too tough, gives no second chances, I will never recommend her to anyone. Get another Professor.
Do not take this course, or online at least. I read the ratings thinking it would be a breeze, but her class only stressed me out. You are not going to learn anything with this course and taking tests is so complicated for no reason. Hard to find any of her assignments because she used 3 websites, 1st week had 40 things to submit w forms & HW.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Uses 3 different websites. Absolutely terrible. Makes CALC 1 harder than it already is
She let us take all the tests over again if we did not do well. There was no fee for a textbook or doing HW. All the HW questions have videos and the test is just like the quiz.
Only extra credit was some HW questions. Test questions were exactly the same questions as on the quiz. Just have to make sure you know how to the quiz.
This class is a ton of work and it is not easy, but do the HW and review quizzes and you will do well.
Professor McCallister is excellent. I took in-person Survey of Calc and she did a great job with explaining problems and test review. She made sure we were prepared for the tests. You will have to study and do the homework, but you get multiple chances on quizzes. Some retakes for tests too. She is a great math professor.
Awesome teacher. Honestly professors like her are the reason I love school. Super nice and super helpful. She gives you so many resources, the assignments are not long or difficult. She gives opportunities to get extra credit and a final to replace the lowest test score at the end of the semester if you want.
I am taking her online class and she is uploading lectures from some random YouTube channel. The lectures sucks and the quiz that she posts at the end of the module consist of questions that are never discussed in the modules. If you ever see her name under any course, do yourself a favor and don't opt for it.
Horrible! So much homework. Test are nothing like the lesson and have you take test at testing center or buy a webcam. Dont do online with her if you are not great with math!
I can manage a class with a lot of homework but it was that x10.I was stressed to the point where I dropped weight. If you strictly just go to school, you'll have enough time.Well at least I think but if you work/have other responsibilities I'm afraid it'll be too much. Her course is hard to navigate through and isn't accommodating for disabilities
Read her syllabus and see if it the amount work suits you. There was a lot.I barely got a "B" in this course. She is very passionate about math and that I can appreciate to say the least. If you aren't strong in math, you may struggle. This was an extremely difficult course.I can imagine taking her for Calculus. This is just my unbiased opinion...
The last post for 1033 ,April 26,2022, was meant for MAC114
She is a really good teacher overall but expects you to study every day for hours. The Final is optional, and the tests are impossible to take at home (I took them at the testing center). She is very nice, but expect to do assignments almost daily. Every unit has a discussion board, 2-3 quizzes, and a test. LOTS of homework.
All of these reviews for professor McCallister that are negative are more of an indictment of the way math is taught in primary school. Students say they aren't good at math but that mindset has kept students from learning. I started with her in MAC1033 and have gone all the way through calc with her, and she gives us everything needed to succeed.
All the question on the test come right from the practice test. The practice tests adds 5 points to your test grade AND if you mess up the test you can take it again. The tests also have a few bounus credit questions so you can still do well if you mess up a few. I had an emergency during the semester, and she allowed me to take my test late.
You get extra credit for doing a practice test and homework and quizzes count for a huge percentage. I made sure I got a 100 for the HW and quizzes (its all online and easy). My test grades were in the 60's but with the extra credit I go a B in the class.
She's a wonderful and caring professor who only cares about helping her students understand calc 1. she does an excellent job. She prepares you well for the exams. The exams arent that hard and most of the time the questions are from the hw but with diff numbers. Every week there is a hw and quiz due which are done at home.
Took her for Calc2 summer and she is very lenient with due dates. Each section has a hw between 15-20 questions. Quiz questions are right off the hw and test questions are right off the quiz very easy to pass as long as to do the work. Also quizzes can be taken 3 times no penalty, test can be taken twice but second attempt is -10%. highly recommend
Took her for intermediate algebra. Maybe it was because of prior knowledge, or maybe she's got a good layout for the course, but everything was super easy for me to navigate through. She has YouTube videos for every concept that you encounter, and it's all very organized and easy to understand. Would take her again.
Be ready to stress. The way in which the class is weighted is outrageous. All tests must be taken with a lockdown browser with webcam or at the testing center. Tests are unrelated to homework and other material. You must have not expect to learn much because the content is taught threw posted outdated YouTube videos. Best of luck doing HW every day
doesn't interact with students at all, the tests must be taken in the testing center or on lockdown browser with a 360 cam and 6 assignments are due weekly.
She is very lenient with due dates. She give extra credit for the practice exam and the test is the same questions with different numbers. I write all the questions on the page of notes she lets you use during the test. All tests use the computer, and you do not get part-credit. But you did get two tries on the question for tests.
I took this course fully online (which I have for a lot of my other courses) & this was by far the most difficult. She is a nice lady & cares about her students, but do NOT take trig fully online. The attached youtube videos were irrelevant, and she would test on concepts that weren't even taught yet. Incredibly difficult, I barely made it through.
Professor McCallister was the best! It's a very easy class if you do your work and participate!!! She is super nice and very helpful, she explains everything so well. Attending class is not mandatory but don't fall behind because it's a lot of work to catch up.
I withdrew from MAT1033C twice before. Professor McCallister's class made math much more understandable! Do all of the modules and you will understand everything, she gives multiple retakes on the models which allow you to practice. Modules are open so you can work at your own pace but don't fall behind because it's a lot of work to catch up on.
I took her for intermediate algebra and got an A. She is such a good teacher, the class was very similar to developmental algebra. There are 3 exams that are exactly like the review but have different numbers. I took it online and it was so easy. I am taking her for college algebra. If you study and do the work, you will do great!!
I took her Calculus class for summer B, but he required too much half of the course dropped, not going to recommend her at all.
THE CLASS WAS EASY once I realized that the tests were the same questions as the quizzes. She lets you use a page of notes for the tests. So I just wrote down all the questions on the notes.
Professor McCallister was great, excellent communication. Everything in the modules is open and you finish everything at your own pace. The exam questions are the same on the practice test but with different numbers.
Professor McCallister is caring but so, so STRESSFUL. There are 4 exams and a final- the final exam is optional/ replaces the lowest exam grade. Exams are worth 80% of your grade. She gives exam questions not discussed in class, pre-lecture, or quizzes. Challenging, be ready to work your butt off.
I took her live online calculus class. This woman forces you to go to testing labs on campus to take her exams. This completely destroys the purpose of live online, I have never had a teacher do this before. She should not be allowed to teach live online, the only reason she seemingly
She's a great professor but she has an awful grading scale. Tests are worth 80% and are all written response. Pre-lecture/ homework is only worth 10% and takes so long to complete. Qiuzes are also worth 10%. She doesn't drop the lowest test score instead she lets you retake a final to replace the lowest grade. There's no extra credit.
BEST MATH TEACHER I have probably met. McCallister is very understanding, carismatic and is great teaching the "hard" part. Her HW helps for the quizzes and the quizzes help for the exams. The final is optional to replace a lower grade from a past exam. It can only benefit your grade.
Professor McCallister is a very thorough and knowledgeable teacher. You will finish the course understanding many concepts. She is kind, caring and respectable. She is serious about attending lectures. The course is very test heavy, but she offers some diverse assessments. I would highly recommend taking her courses.
Caring Professor who took the time to make sure everyone understands the material. If you had any questions you could ask in class or send an email and she would respond write away. However, tests are worth 80% and get ready to study and devote at least 2 hours a day to this class.
Professor McCallister was a kind and understanding professor. She has pre-lectures, which are basically the homework. The quizzes are the only thing that throws you off a bit, but they show you your answers right after you take them, and you have three tries. Lastly, exams are pretty decent. All questions are on quizzes, so you need to study those.
Professor McCallister is a very caring professor. She is a tough cookie and has a few heavy assignments, but she is fair and will help you if needed. I could have pushed very hard and gotten an A but needed to prioritize some other things. Some of the exams, she allowed for us to use notes; some, not. Be prepared to go in person for testing.
Class structure was straightforward and simple. Homework, quizzes, and test were cohesive. Very manageable workload. Lots of example videos. More than enough late passes for assignments if you need to spend a little more time on a topic.
If you are planning to take this professor, I would also recommend booking some therapist sessions. I promise you will cry after a 1:1 meeting with her. Very disorganized, doesn't like when you ask questions, expects you to know everything before taking this class. Exam Reviews are useless, study from the class lectures.
I took this professor for her pre-calc/trig and now Calc 2 courses. I wouldn't suggest taking this class if you can't set time aside to study. There is little to no lecture and you only come in to do the work. You work in groups and everything that is on the exams are on the learning activities. She is a VERY lenient grader on exams.
i enjoyed this class she was amazing! she seems like she is tough but overall she is very sweet!
Professor McCallister was kind and respectful. I liked the format of the lectures (group work at tables). Tests were graded on work shown. However, online videos mismatched harder in-class problems, and confusing/incorrect explanations. Exams often included new concepts. I used outside resources/videos a lot. Nice person, but ineffective teacher.
Super easy and gives 100 late work passes for the semester. Ended with 80 passes.
Gives 100 late credit passes in the beginning of the semester. Ended with a 99.36% and still had 80 late passes.
Good professor! She doesn't get off topic in class, so do expect to be working throughout the entire class period. Gives great lectures and has a good teaching style, but DO NOT BE LATE! She takes that very personally, so be there on time.
You have to watch pre lecture videos before class. You are graded on the days assignment. Tests are all based on the in class assignments. Really easy if you do the work.
Fun for a math class. The questions we did as groups in class were exactly like what was on the test. I just watched the videos and did the online homework before class. She give lots of partial credit and extra credit on the exams.
She has graded assignment for every class. The exams were exactly like the in-class assignment. The online hw has videos to go with every question. Best math class I have had in a long time.
The HW has a mini video showing exactly how to do the questions. So you don't have to search YouTube for other examples. The quizzes require you to upload your work, which is a pain. You get 10 extra credit points for each exam if you do the practice test, which is almost exactly the test. The class is lots of work, but easy.If you do the work
Really enjoyed her style of teaching! Learned more math during class, working in groups, than I ever did just sitting, listening to a lecture.
Best teacher I could have had for calc2! Everything we learned in class was tested on. Very fun learning environment that makes you want to prepare for class activities. Homework is very easy. You will learn new things so know that it's natural to feel lost at first. Prof. Mccallister does her best to help you and won't let you down. Ask and try!
Great teacher, instead of doing lectures we'd more group assignments. Before every class we watch pre lectures( that count to your grade). Let me say this, LOCK IN, your exam grade is worth 80% of your grade, so please do them hw assignments and study about 3-5 hours. Beside that, the professor is very caring and wants you to learn and pass.
class was easy and she gave good lectures overall
