strict, cold calling, curves grades
Professor Roden expects a lot from her students, but you will learn a lot from her class.
She can be tough, but very good at teaching Finance compared with other professors teaching this dept. Pop quizzes, weekly homework, 2 exams, class participaton for extra points. Curves grades.
2 exams - one midterm and one final. The final was freakin HARD. weekly hmwks (2 copies one to turn in and one for you) and pop quizzes. keep up or risk failing the class.
She is a very good professor. Her lectures are excellent.
She is mean, she gives zero slack, if you come to class late (even just 5 min) you get 1.5 points taken off of your 2 pt hmk assignment total points for the class is 130 so 2 pts a week adds up fast. Her tests and exams are very hard and misleading Aviod
4 words PSYCHO **** FROM HELL. If you didnt get it the first time dont bother asking she'll tear you a new one.
Took it over the summer, kind of funny, asked students to stand up and jump around in class, lectures easy to understand, but tests are hard
Good teacher, but grade homeworks...2 exams....
If you ain't white don't take her!!! If you don't understand something...forget it don't ask! She will eat you alive.
she's hard.don't ask questions.highest grade in our class was a 58%.shes curves so u'll pass with a 30%. her tests are the hardest ever. but she uses a financial calculator. other profs use equations only.kinda mean but good lectures.
I would definitely recomend her. The material will be tough to understand right away regardless of the instructor you take. At least she isn't boring and knows her stuff!
She is not easy. You do have to put in the effort to get a good grade (Read, study for exams). Great curve, an A is very possible. Explains things thoroughly. Watch out for that soda! (You'll find out)
She was hard, and mean. Liked to yell. U must participate. Midterm was taken over two days. Incredibly hard. A range was 70% was A-, I got 69% and got a B+. I would never take her again. Horrible
Great curve, obtaining an A is very possible in her class. Explains things thoroughly.
Plan on participating every class meeting. One midterm, one final, 4 pop quizzes. First part of the class is horrible-almost impossible. Take someone else if you have a choice!!
It can't be easy if a professor is from Harvard University. However, if you really want to learn something about finance, choose her. Very practical teaching method and makes you think rather than just listen to the material. exams are hard but curved.
I took over the summer and she even recommends not to take this class over the summer. She is tough and exams are hard but shre really makes you understand the material great. If, you really want to learn and undertand finance and acctg then take her.
The best finance teacher I ever have in my life. If you are finance, you have to take her class. Her class is really hard but you will learn a lots like learning from Harvard. Any I like her so much.
I had very bad experiences with her.She was very mean prof I've ever known. She expected a lot from the students. You have to know very well and clear the accounting stuff(no kidding)you've learned before, and you have to be good at math.A lot of homework. You will die if you take her.I would not recome
My favorite subject, and Roden made it great. Teacher is very clear on what is expected of you, and just do the comp probs and the rest is cake. Material is tough, but this is a good teacher to learn from.
Took in Fall04 along with 171A(Pantos) and 172A(Zaima). This class is ALOT harder than those other 2. Her final exam is KILLER! if u want to guess on 15/25 then take her course. Only teaches 1 course at SJSU, and never reachable. DO NOT TAKE HER unless U WANT TO STRUGGLE!
You will success in your Finance career if you take her class. You will learn very solid fundamental finance than any Finance Prof. can offer. She is the best!!!
she is very hard. she has a lot of experience, but thinks the students know what she's talking about. Her midterms are really hard. She grades extremly hard. I would recommend everyone not to take her for Bus 170.

Shes the meanest teacher I've ever met.Totally sets u up to fail if she knows you are working 20+hrs/wk&a f/t student.I took all pre-reques but 1 which I was in @ the time,@ 1st she said it was ok but after 2wks of having a full class told me to drop or be dropped even though i was doing well so far
I think she's pretty and very smart. Take her class, you will get smarter.
A great prof. very clear lectures. Take her...you will lear a lot from her. Her exams are hard but if you study than can make it.
Her lectures are clear but the homework is difficult and the book is not that helpful. If you have experience in Finance you will do great in this class. If you dont, than I will suggest taking someone else. Partipation is important and homework too.
Lectures are clear. Homework are a little difficult coz it follws the method she uses in the class lectures. Hard to understand the topic if you couldn't be present in the class always. Participation in her class counts about a grade. If you know well the basic accounting, this class is not hard.
This was a great class with a superb instructor. How often do you have a Harvard MBA and CFO/CEO teach a course? The lectures were very clear and much more relevant than the text. Numerous hands on examples and calculations were worked in class. I wish Prof Roden taugh more Finance courses.
She's nice and has a good sense of humor, but overall this class is insanely hard. I'm a good student but I got a D in her class, and for the most part I was too intimidated by her to ask her for help. Nothing against her, I'm just glad I can put BUS 170 behind me. :)
She will scare everyone. Its not easy, but its not insanely hard. Just pay attention and make sure you remember your basic accounting. She will scold you, but she will also explain anything you dont understand. The grades are curved, its a true curve too. I got an A in the class with something like 60% of the points possible.
The best finance Prof. in sjsu in term of teaching style. She knows how to teach finance to make it easy to understand. I wish she has more chance to teach major finance classes.
This teacher was such a b*tch, i hated her. Im normally a good student, and i got a D+. She doesn't help at all, office hours are very limited, she yells at you in front of everyone. She seems to go a good lecturer and you think you have the topic down, but when you have to apply it to the homework, GOOD LUCK. DON'T TAKE HER, SHE'S MEAN!!!!!
Laura Roden is by far the best Finance teacher at SJSU. She knows what she's talking abt. If you do the homework, study for the easy weekly quizes and just talk once in class for participation you should do fine. No mid-term, just 1 final. Very good curve!!!! She has a lot of real world experience and is a total hotty.
well, professor Roden is very smart.Alot of experience. She knows how to teach finace.I reaaly liked her class except for homeworks due every week. She knows where u sit so if u are absent, she knows. If are the type that does not like answering questions, then consider another class because that counts to one point everyday.hard but doable.
She really is mean. She isn't approachable, she has a short fuse, and I just don't think she likes students. She is pretty hot though. Just always be prepared b/c she'll call on you every day in class and if you don't know, she doesn't make it easy on you. would not recommend her.
Meanest teacher at SJSU. She thinks she's a hotshot corporate executive, lowering herself to teach college courses, and so we should be grateful. She was cold and unapproachable.
If you do not understand the concept of finance whatsoever, this teacher is NOT for you! She teaches as if you already know the fundamentals and if you don't understand, tough luck. Book is required for this class. 4 midterms, comprehensive final, and NO STUDY GUIDES
Prepared to get lost if you don't have previous knowledge of finance (Even though it's a FUNDAMENTALS class). But Roden definitely knows her stuff. Lectures aren't posted online which inclines you to use the book when studying. Homework is not graded. Before an exam, she gives out the vocabulary list which isn't really helpful at all.
She is a very nice person, but as a teacher well it's a roller coaster. The class is curved ,but that unsettling feeling of getting a D or F on a midterm is no fun. Her lectures are helpful and you must participate for points. It would be nice if she posted her lectures slides online instead of before the final. Has lots of real-world experience.
I will take this class again.
Pay attention to her lectures and take good notes. Lectures can be a little too fast. Overall, she is a great teacher and knows her stuff well. She is very smart and looking hot as well. Just do a lot practice on the homework and memorize the vocabulary. if you have questions, she is always there to help. Peace out my friend!
She teaches interesting subject matter, but her feedback is very critical and not very constructive. Very tough grader, to the point that a 55% is passing. This is ridiculous and I think she should reconsider the structure of her class if 55% for a C is the norm. Would not take again. Take another teacher for 173C.
tough as hell. participate to bring your grade up. if you don't know the answer, guess. you might still get points.
Amazing Class and professor. Expect a lot of homework and work, but it is totally worth it. Try not to miss any class and take notes as much as you can. Ask question if you do not understand she is very helpful.
The class curve was at 55% to pass, which is absolutely ridiculous. 5 group presentations,1 individual. No extra credit and changed grading criteria without warning. She may be smart with lots of credentials to back up her knowledge, but she's cold and extremely harsh to students. Very unapproachable. Speak up or you don't get hwk points at all.
Choose your group wisely as your grade depends heavily on it: 5 group presentations, 1 individual. No extra credit and changed grading criteria without warning. She may be smart with lots of credentials to back up her knowledge, but she's cold and extremely harsh to students. Very unapproachable. Speak up or you don't get hwk points at all.
Professor knows the material well. Her lectures are fast-paced at times, but you could always stay after class and she would help. Reading the textbook is helpful, and helps understand the vocabulary as well as the formulas. Participation is a must to do well, must know what you are talking about!
She has completely restructured her class based on prior classes. Quizzes everyday. No tests. No room for error. Every point counts as the total class point total is around 300. Difficult to approach. Lecture after you take the quiz and have already taught yourself.
The teacher was easy for me, has an amazingly ridiculous curve and I got an A with like a 68%. Shes super nice and very approachable, ask her and she will help you and I saw her just throwing points at students when I went to her office hours. I hear she got alot harder but shes still a nice professor you can talk to. Material is all relevant.
Roden is a great teacher with a strong understanding of what she's teaching. She isn't the easiest teacher to have, but she does a darn good job of teaching real biz/finance concepts. If you don't mind having daily pop quizzes and actually want to learn something, then take her. She is very willing to help and one of the best finance professors.
I took this Spring 2016. I've now taken all the core finance classes and can say with certainty that this class did not prepare me all that well. She had some insightful points that stuck with me. Overall I found inconsistencies in what I had learned when I hit higher levels. She grades you tough on what she thinks is correct though.
It is very intellectually challenging class. Have to be quick on your feet, since the quizzes could be hard and you have very limited time to do them (3 minutes per question). Required a STRONG foundation of BUS 20 (basic accounting courses). Must read book. Must participate. Must review PowerPoint. I enjoyed the challenge. Curve is huge.
Class was wonderful. Learned so much about entrepreneurship and high-level thinking. As SJSU graduate and now working full-time, her class material still has strong relevance to me to this day. Show up & you will be fine. Only things to watch out for: group presentations as they are a large portion of your grade. Grading criteria can be ambiguous.
The worst instructor ever. Her curve is set so low however that should be telling her that she's obviously not teach right. All her daily quizzes have almost no relevance to the hw she assigns to "prepare" you for them. Not understanding at all and very rude. In previous accounting courses i got A's and Im on my way to failing her course.
The class is pretty easy. Pick a good group and it will help your grade a lot. The midterms are heavily math based and require you to practice problems on your own. Overall if you put in 50% effort you'll most likely be at the top of the curve. Anything over 80% was a guaranteed A.
Definitely worst teacher ever. She teaches in reverse. Read the chapter yourself, then get quizzed on the homework. Quiz problems have nothing to do with the homework assigned. She then lectures and tells you what she wants to know after you have been quizzed. Total class average in both sections was 60%, if not for the giant curve all would fail.
Knowledgeable but forgets we are there to learn. Her way of teaching is reverse sometimes students wont understand the material by reading the chapter but yet, you'll get quiz on it during class. Quiz and segment tests are tricky, yes they are multiple choice but they are difficult. Overall grades should tell her something, change her way of teaching
She is super smart and definitely has the experience/ knows exactly what she's talking about, but DOES NOT TEST YOU ON MATERIAL SHE TELLS YOU TO STUDY FOR. The overall average of my class right now is a 50% and even though she curves the class giving everyone a C, making it almost impossible to get a good grade in the class.
Laura Roden is very smart and experience, but this class is extremely tough!!!! She does curve in the end so that helps a lot! I would definitely recommend!
One of my best teachers so far, she knows a lot and truly wants to help out.
Tricky quizzes and exams. She's very smart and can be helpful. I feel like I am not learning as much as i'd like to about the principles of finance because she expects you to learn it all on your own, and she'll follow up with a very brief lecture. The time she gives on quizzes gave me anxiety bc of how little it was, which resulted in lower score
Bad and condescending, find another finance teacher.
She knows her stuff, but her teaching methods are a bit reverse. There are quizzes on chapters before she talks about it in class or provides all resources online. You learn about a topic solo then the next lecture is just redundant as you've already been tested. Of course there's midterms after, but I prefer being taught before being graded.
Honestly, she's not that bad. After reading her reviews on here I was nervous on taking her class especially since I didn't know much about finance. I HIGHLY recommend going to her SI sessions, I wouldn't have passed if I didn't go. They are SUPER helpful and help narrow down what will be on the exams.
Professor Roden definitely knows what she talks about, it is a person that inspired me to change my major to finance, if you want to learn , then take her.
She is very knowledgeable and wants to help her students. The subject itself is just hard. Do the homework quizzes and, if you can, go to SI sessions. If you can't go to SI sessions then attend lectures.
Basically she's one of the professors that do weekly quizzes that are unfairly timed (which leads to stress). She is also the type to quiz first, then lecture about it; an annoying strategy that only wastes time compared to the traditional teaching style of lecture THEN quiz/HW.
Hands down to the best Finance prof you can get in SJSU. Prof is very smart, concise, funny and she'll bring the best guest speakers on the field to teach you. Take her if you want to learn something with your time. The homework will help you learn so don't complain about it. She often curves. If you still suffer, come to her office, she'll help!
If you truly want to learn about finance take her. She is brilliant and you definitely get your monies worth taking her. She is not easy so if you're trying to skate find someone else.
She expects her students to do homework and a quiz which is her way of preparing for class and it is not helpful at all when you are struggling with the homework and she is not helpful at all. She teaches really fast and there is about two quizzes each week! You have to complete 4big assignments outside of class which requires 3-4 hours to complete
She teaches her class in a reverse way were you have to complete the homework on the new lesson she will teach the next day and expects you to learn it by yourself and when it comes to her lecture it's very brief. She talks too fast and she's a tough grader on open-ended quiz questions. Now its too late to drop her class.
She makes you do extra assignments compared to the other Finance classes. Her extra assignments are Bloomberg where you need to sit down at a terminal in the business building and complete the course which takes 3-4 hours to complete 1 certificate, she requires 2. Another assignment is to attend a speaker event that ranges 2-5hrs plus a write-up.
Terrible professor and makes this class unnecessarily hard. Assigns homework of readings for EVERY class due midnight before she lectures on it. Course is based on 350 points and questions are VERY specific. Has speakers and REQUIRES students to prepare questions and them grades them on whether SHE thinks theyre good or not. Save yourself.
She gives and assigns quiz before every lecture and the quizzes are on new material you had to learn on your own before class. If you need help with your homework and you email her she is no help. All of her quizzes are 3 questions, so even if you get one wrong you still don't pass the quiz. She doesn't let you have a cheat sheet for your exams.
She isnt a hardworking teacher. Her lectures are disorganized, or they don't communicate the material clearly and she talks at length on subjects unrelated to the course like finance market. She comes across very demeaning and narrow minded. Do yourself a favor, find a more learned teacher.
By far the worse professor I have had at SJSU. Youll have quizzes assigned before class on material she hasnt lecture on. If you like self teaching this is the class for you. This class has a huge amount of mathematics and not once will she physically go over any equation with you step by step. Highly recommend another professor!
Lectures were heavy and professor gives a lot of information which is standard. My issue is the other assignment and the level of mathematics required for this class. Need to take a quiz before every class that is worth a lot of points and requires a lot of useless assignments. Roden seems very passionate and smart but if you take time, AVOID!
She's very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about finance. If you actually want to learn something about finance, take her, but get ready to put in work. There's a lot of reading and assignments, but if you just focus on the main ideas and let her lectures explain the little details, you'll be fine. The curve at the end helps out a lot.
There are 4 exams + a final and it's all cumulative. There's hw due the night before every class which are all hw quizzes. You have to be able to teach yourself to succeed in this course. She'll teach whatever the hw was about the day after the hw quiz. Biggest tip: go to SI sessions, they're a lifesaver & do the hw! (COVID semester)
Grade to be determined based on curve (either -A or +B). Do NOT take her. The class consists of 4 finals + 1 cumulative exam + 2/3 question quizzes on the material before every class that is self-taught (difficult). Unnecessary other assignments and don't bother emailing her since she is very rude/condescending. Beware of mistakes too.
Laura is a DECENT instructor. Her expectations are incredibly high and she can at times be very rude and lacks communication. Several times throughout the semester I tried to reach out to her to address my problems, but she isn't the best responder. She is knowledgable, but could be much better if she was actually there for her students!
This is absolutely insane! Her modules from her online classes require way too much work than any other class! She gives out quiesces with 10 multiple answers, 25 questions WITH ONLY 30 minute time limit! I think she's forgetting we're in the middle of a Pandemic and she gives out too much work! we have other classes too!
She is by far the hardest teacher to talk to. Extremely rude and does not respect her students. For the love of god take another professor there are soooooooo many better finance professors at sjsu. Even If she is the only professor available just wait a semester and take the class with a different professor.
Bruh! NGL she really thinks this is the only class you taking and U ain't working to survive in UR life. Every week I get anxieties looking at the amount of work she has given to us. Like chill! the only thing we getting outta the assignments is headache and no learning. U'll be teaching yourself N her zoom sessions R totally useless. DO NOT TAKE
Save yourselves a semester by taking a different professor. She gives out quizzes BEFORE she lectures, and expects everything to be PERFECT. She knows the course in and out, however for students learning this for the first time? Forget about it. The stuff she talks about in lecture is redundant to what the quizzes/midterms questions will be.
Please skip this BUS170 Professor if you guys just want to get college over with. She made these online classes extremely difficult as if we don't have work or other classes to attend. Someone needs to report the amount of work she gives to students in the middle of a pandemic. Other professors that are "hard" classes aren't as difficult as her.
Do not ever take this professor. This is probably one of the hardest professors I have ever had. There is homework 3 times a week and lockdown browser for each homework with only 10 minutes. She expects way too much from her students.
You guys need to read these reviews about this professor. She over did it with these homework and quizzes. Every test and homework she gives out, is different from what she explains in class. We don't even get to calculate the formulas in class, she expects us to read and master everything on our own with no in class practice on how to calculate.
She apparently thinks that I'm only taking one class this semester so she decided to give 2 homework assignments a week with two quizzes " closely relating" to that homework. Also don't expect the class to help you with the literally anything in the class. Do not take this professor if you want to hate finance.
Just took the midterm for this class and I cant tell you that no matter how much you study the practice questions or review the concepts, nothing will prepare you for the midterm. You are required to take a quiz before the day of the next lecture, but the quiz is on the topic for that lecture. There is no chance to learn and improve.
2 sets of long homework problems + reading a week along with quizzes to accompany the homework. FOUR midterms and a couple on-the-side assignments. It's a lot of work but the REAL catch is that the readings and lectures have nothing to do with the quizzes and exams. This professor will make finance much harder if you're not already comfortable.
um... what are you suppose to do here at school? to train on a specific topic which is required later on during our professional careers. I really don't like to say negative things, but too many students expect to be fed, and don't have to go hunt. Take Professor Roden's course, only if you want to become a hunter.
If you're trying to get by college so you can move on with your life, do not take this professor. If you want to learn about stocks as a profession you'll learn from her. However, her Zoom meetings and things she talks about in class will have nothing to do with the Exams and homework's. The comment below me is from the professor herself for sure.
Literally teaching yourself. Read, practice, take a quiz the day BEFORE class on the topic (2 quizzes/week). She roughly covers the topic during lecture, her slides don't have answers, cold calls, CAMERAS HAVE TO BE ON through zoom (she grades on it). All exams are closed notes + lockdown/webcam. Weekly quizzes barely give enough time.
This teacher is by far the worst Ive had in 5 years of going to college. She does everything backwards. Gives out quizzes and HW before and after midterms. No breaks at all, nor she adjusts her exams catered to the amount of work we need to do. She is inconsiderate. DO NOT TAKE!
Who assigns homework on topics that haven't been taught yet? Professor Laura! Before each class, you will be assigned some readings and a quiz based on the readings. If you don't understand the concept from the reading, you're screwed because the professor will not be going over them until the next day. If you are good at self teaching, you're good
Lots of complaints on here about Professor Roden's homework and quizzes. Put simply: If you want to learn finance, take it with you into business, get an MBA, or you have any real career aspirations, this course shouldn't be a problem. If you want to be handed an A, this is not for you. Put in the work, think critically, and you'll be fine.
4 modules, basically teach yourself. Read, practice, take a quiz on it: due Sunday before Monday class and Tuesday, before Wednesday class. THEN she goes over that same concept and does practice problems with us. Per module you have a good 8-10 quizzes. THEN YOU HAVE AN EXAM AT THE END OF EVERY MODULE. Hard & time consuming. CAMERA HAS TO BE ON.
The professor is crazy enough to leave a comment about herself. You can pretty much tell that every 5 star rating here is from herself. All of the real students are telling the truth. This class is pretty much self taught! She gives out quizzes and homework's before the class and is graded! no study guide, lockdown browser, no notes, hard exams!
Everything in this class is self taught. If you have anxiety, this class will heighten that. She will put you on the spot during her lectures. If you dont know the answer, shell be condescending about it. There is a cumulative final, only review sheet is the list of vocab. you get from the 1st day. Memorize ALL the formulas bc no notes on tests.
If you decide to take Professor Roden, brace yourself. Homework assignments are extremely dense and toughly graded. Be ready to teach yourself an immense amount of material without help and beware that when she goes through examples in class she runs through them like lightening.
Professor Roden is very knowledgeable about finance but she expects her students to have the same amount of knowledge as her. Before every class, there is a quiz on a chapter you have to read but you only get 8 minutes for the quiz and one attempt. There are four midterms and a final and some of the questions don't correlate to anything. AVOID HER!
Weirdest and worst thing about this class: we have weekly quizzes n homework on a topic we havent learned yet. 4 midterms plus 1 cumulative final. Prof is also on the meaner side :/ she puts you on the spot in class if you dont know the answer to her question. Ik there arent many elective options as a finance major, but pick another professor.
Prof Roden is very strict and not flexible at all. She forces students to turn on cameras, so if youll leave for a few minutes for restroom, turn it off, shell probably kick you out. Like I dont mind turning it on, but controlling it to this point is unacceptable. The class is not easy, and self studying makes it harder. She doesnt really teach
Professor Roden is super smart and knowledgeable about finance. Im not sure what previous bad reviews are about, but I would say that if you have a desire to learn and want be tutored by the best, take her classes. She might be strict and homework-heavy, but if you want to learn something, expect to actually do some work.
As a Graduate student taught by Prof. Roden. Her weekly quizzes were very tough. She required us to learn by ourselves first and take the quizzes on lectures she hasn't gone over. Although I did learn a lot from her, she needs to improve how she grades one's overall knowledge of the course. Final Grades are curved
Wish I would've looked here before choosing this class. A lot of material to cover and the professor will call on you during class to answer questions. Your camera must be on, if she feels you aren't paying attention she will call on you. What gets old is the time wasted waiting for the professor to move on when a student doesn't know the answer
I suggest getting another finance teacher, but if you have no choice this is what you need to do. Go to the SI Sessions because it contains some exam questions. Study the PowerPoints she has for each module because that's what the quizzes are on. Take turns with your partner on doing the quizzes. This course was tough and she teaches backwards.
Attendance is not mandatory but it may as well be since you have to answer questions during lecture for points. HW is due the day b4 lecture and is on material that we won't go over until the next day. HW, midterms, and the final are all done through the respondus lockdown browser. Take a different professor if possible. Final grade is curved
You will have readings, homework and quizzes due the night before class meetings. She makes you choose a study buddy (during the first day of class) whom you will work with throughout the entire semester. She will call on you during class and expects you to have done the reading and answer. She's tough but her point system works out in the end.
She is strict and calls on students throughout class so pay attention. She called me out several times. Lots of quizzes and assignments that you have to work on. Theyre relatively easy and I managed to do them in less than 30 minutes. She wants her assignments a very specific way so read instructions and use criticism to improve. 70% is an A
Required camera on during all Zoom classes and would randomly call on you. Doesn't teach well but the exams are hard.
Her class is self-teaching and then she goes over the chapter the next day. Tests are quite difficult and your homework is timed quizzes (2-3x a week). I wouldn't take her again but if you have to 50% is considered a C and there's a big class curve at the end because she knows her material is hard.
She calls students in class for participation grade.Grading mostly reading+quizzes a week which include math but very little time. Didn't like that she assigns seating. Be sure to pay attention to the test sometimes she has errors in it or excel link won't load. You also have 2 Pitch presentations, you can't use notes. Don't recommend her, sorry.
I understand it's college but the amount of reading/work she assigns from one class day to the next is overwhelming. In the real world you have access to so many resources & are constantly relearning so the fact she expect us to memorize so many formulas for the timed exams is difficult. If there are so many bad ratings, maybe evaluate yourself
PLEASE DONT TAKE HER. As a professor your job is to teach, she wants people to fail. I had a time tht my Canvas wasn't working for a quiz &I emailed her & didn't want give me an extension bc "no other student had this issue" but I had shown her the Canvas Support ticket. And next day more students told her it wasn't as well. Math ain't mathin' sis
smart lady but she really doesnt care much at all about her students, she rarely goes over any useful information that would help to prepare for exams and instead spends half the time rambling about some nonsense that is not related to her class
It doesn't matter how educated someone is , the reality is teaching is a gift & not everyone has it. She's the prime example of this. She's more worried about students cheating than actually ensuring learning. Final was 50Qs mostly math heavy in excel w/ only 1.5min to solve them!? Seems like she wants people to fail. Please don't take her!
You must read the textbook because she calls on people in class for participation points. Quizzes and exams are based on the textbook. She tries to make up her for her strictness by giving a hefty grade curve at the end of the semester. The test questions are nothing like the materials we practice or talk about in class.
This professor has terrible rating for a reason. Please, if you can, try not to take her class. BUS1-170 is filled with difficult concepts and lots of math. If you want to understand this class, better take someone else who is caring, empathetic, and nice. Lots of reading too! She doesn't explain or break down each assigned reading.
