Funny teacher, sometimes has trouble explaining in class because she only speaks broken english, but all around okay if you pay attention.

Speaks broken English, but a very nice person if you stay on her good side. I personally liked her as a teacher, tests weren't that hard if you looked over notes and parts of the book... doesn't teach to the book so much as other teachers do.
I can't understand her, but she's nice and doesnt yell at me when I don't have homework.
she will make u laugh and keep things pretty interesting
horrible, makes you do these stupid projects all the time and you have to do a lot of work and they are worth like a check only. horrible.
i had her for spanish 102 and 201. i found her to be the easiest spanish teacher at the school. she is a very nice woman as long as you stay on her good side. she is willing to help you outside of class. there is never a boring moment in her class.
She's hot stuff if you at least pretend to be interested in learning Spanish. Her predilection for busywork can be annoying, but she'll jack up your grade if you talk to her outside of class. If you act like you care, you will be rewarded.
She is the most helpful Spanish professor. I had her for 102 and 201. She is the best!! If you have any issues in her class just go talk to her. She is even there if you need to talk to her about problems outside of class!
She is very helpful if you go to her and ask outside class, but she was very UNclear when she taught the class. She does give a lot of busy work that isn't worth much points wise, but it helps get you ready for tests. The homework took about 10 mins.
I thought she was an awesome professor. Shes hilarious and really makes class entertaining. Take her if you are willing to do a lot of work, she is not a slack teacher and expects you to try. I think shes the best prof I have had so far.
awesome...take her...she's so cool!!
This class is sooo much fun! She is by far the BEST spanish teacher I have ever had! She makes me feel bad when I dont do my homework which makes me want to do it for now on! that 1 time made me never want to not do it again! I wish you would teach 201!!!
Professor Sanchez is the coolest spanish instructor I have ever had. I enjoy going to the class because she makes us a part of the class. She is also very funny.
I think she is an amazing teacher. She is funny and easygoing. She wants you to learn not just get the grades. I would def take another class with her!!
senora sanchez is a great teacher. She puts alot of effort into teaching, and has a passion for what she does. it makes me very mad when students take advantage of her effot,or criticize her, I cannot wait to take spanish 102 next spring! Eric Hamilton-
you've got to be kidding me si sisi sisisisisisssssSHUTUP!
She was very mean about taking a test she never gave me (after i transferred into the class). She is very narrowminded about spanish- it is your only class point of view.
She is the best spanish teacher I have ever had.I have an A in her class and I've never received above a C in Spanish..that should tell you something! She's really funny in class. She is also really relaxed and easygoing.I recommend her if you are willing to work and try your best! She loves teaching!
I think that she is one of the best teachers that I have had in a while. She always makes he class interesting and fun, not to mention she makes us laugh non stop. She does make you work though, but not more than what is expected of a college class. I strongly reccomend her.
Had a great time in class! Very entertaining, helps you understand spanish with facial expressions! Just makes it easy!
she is very helpful and makes the class time fun and is very enthusiastic
Shoot me if she says Si one more time

I had her for a summer session, and I hadn't had Spanish since high school. She managed to get me remembering enough Spanish to get an A in her class when I really never understood what I learned to begin with. Never got less than an A on her tests either...
I dont think she deserves even a dollar of her salary by teaching spanish.Everytime she got into the room she looked like somebody ate her desert. She has no teaching abilities at all.I am so sorry I had to take her class -waste of time.I should get in 201 with Iglesias and still learn much more.
She is one of my favorite teachers and she is so funny! She always offers help to her students. She is always available to talk to her students about their grades. She does give a lot of assignments but they help you do better in class. I would definitely recommend taking her for Spanish 102.
I am going to fail. I haven't had spanish in, I think, 4 years. This is going to be hell!
She is a good teacher. Shes helpful and knows what she is talking about.
Worst teacher ever! She NEVER EVER spoke english so you have no idea what you are supposed to do on homework and assignments. She also goes very fast
Yes, she speaks Spanish a lot but it is a Spanish course! She also explains herself in English, especially when she sees blank stares on everyone’s faces. She is very entertaining, which makes the subject more interesting. I refuse to take Spanish from any other professor.
She is very smart ass and thinks she is great. She isn't very helpful and I will never take her again!
class was filled with excessive amounts of busy work(project after project)..ended up with about 7 projects within about a month..gets mad at the smallest things and does not understand if you try to explain things to her even though she says she will..do not take her if you don't have to.
If you study and do your work, you will be fine. She is VERY willing to help if you take the initiative to seek extra help. She gives creative, fun and interresting projects that really help your grade alot. She is a great teacher..you can tell she really loves what she is doing and that she cares alot about her students.
Senorita Sánchez is an excellent professor!! I had to work hard in her class but I learned alot. I woudl take her again if her Spanish 201 class fit my schedule.
I hated Spanish classes before I took it with her! She always assigns homework which kinda sucks but it isn't much so that's okay! Her tests are taken on computer which I don't really like but oh well. She is a very good teacher and I would strongly recommend taking her classes. She has always been more than willing to meet in her office also!
Horible teacher... trust me do not take her
horrible teacher
Best spanish teacher ever!!!! If you need to take spanish you should work the rest of your schedule so that you get this teacher. You will have to work, but how else do you expect to learn another language?
Horrible..... and kinda loco.
She cant even speak english so how is she supposed to teach spanish very well. She has mood swings and have seen her call out students and embarrass them in front of the whole class, calling them stupid, and say that they are "muy feo". i understand its ok to joke sometimes but when you constantly do it, its not ok. Not a good role model. etc etc.
She is a crazy, unforgiving, unrelenting, completely uncaring ****. No matter how hard you work or pay attention it will not be rewarded.
She is evil taken human form. She is rude and moody and pretty nuts. She iss not understanding, not helpful, and stuck up. She yells at the class and acts like an idiot. She should go back to Spain.
I don't know who it was that said she calls people out by saying they are ugly or stupid but I think they are talking about the wrong professor!!!! Prof. Sanchez is a very nice lady. I had a bad past with trying to learn Spanish and she was always very very helpful and understanding.
Gives huge amounts of work an pointless projets such as designing your own website. If you have a question, and she can understand you, you will be criticized unless she thinks it is a good question. Also doesnt grade fair.
this teacher plays favorites. shure you'll get a good grade if you stay on her good side and kiss-up but of she thinks you arent trying(even if you are) she'll fail you. And she dosent make her projects clear and then if you do it wrong its all your fault not hers. DONT take her shes very irritating and frustrating.
As someone who is in college to be a teacher, I can tell you she is exactly what Longwood is teaching us not to be. I would recomend you take Spanish with a teacher who will provide a quality learning experiance and not with Sanchez.
She is a good professor and you will learn alot from her, however she is not an easy professor and there will be alot of work ahead but it is well worth it. And if you do the work and get on her good side she isnt as mean as people say she is.
i LOVE HER! she makes class SO much fun and is hilariously funny. If you have an ougoing class she will joke around with everyone alot. Her class is hard but she is willing to help you. She also tries to relate things to real life- by showing things on youtube. I dont know what everyone is saying on here about her being evil and mean she's GREAT!
She doesnt really help if you need extra practice. Her tests are fair but she doesn't do a good job teaching it and giving practice. She wastes a lot of time talking about irrelevant things towards the course. The other problem is that she is the only professor you can take most of the time.
I read a few ratings and only got angry. Most negative ratings i'm sure were written by people who didn't try at all. Foreign languages are supposed to be hard, but I couldn't imagine taking it with anyone BUT her! I'm taking the summer version, so it's 5 hours a day in class, and she is the ONLY teacher i'd WANT to spend 5 hours a day with!!!!!
She is funny, and animated. She reminds me of Ms. Swan with her broken english and sound effects "uh-oh". She usually acts and uses hand motions to teach what a word means. Her Labs take alot of preparation. Homework was checked at beginning of semester. She can make you feel dumb, but thats probably normal for spanish teachers (smarter than you)
She is a terrible teacher. The entire class failed an exam (53%) and when asked if she would curve it, she angrily said no and said if we were that concerned with it we could go to the dean. She never explains anything and treats you like you're stupid. She's a nice lady when you talk to her one-on-one but she will mess up your GPA
Sanchez is extremely entertaining and if you actually study and do the work you will get good grades and really enjoy her class. She is one of my favorite teachers ever!
I'd like to say to everyone who says shes good and nice...she may be a nice lady but as far as the class goes, she sucks. She doesn't grade fair at all, and isn't at all helpful if you're having trouble. If you're not one to understand Spanish that much, I don't recommend her because she requires everyone to speak in Spanish.
This class is hell. She has a major attitude problem and when you try and ask for help, you'll get shot down. I'm in a beginner class and she expects us to be fluent or something. Its rough, and I want to cry every time I leave class.
STAY AWAY! She expects you to know EVERYTHING about spanish when youre only in a beginning class.
Does she ask what you think you deserve for your semester grade as the last question on the final exam?
One of the worst classes I have ever taken. She is no help at all. She tests you on stuff that she didn't go over in class and she refuses to help. She's an oompa loompa and doesn't understand that you don't know how to speak spanish. If she calls on you to answer and you don't understand what he is saying she gives dirt looks. DO NOT TAKE HER.
The absolute worst professor I have ever had the misfortune of taking a class with. It's a beginning level course and expects you to be fluent. Her idea of helping is telling you to study. I studied for six hours for the final and got an F. She assigns so much homework every week and gives you hardly enough time to complete. STAY AWAY FROM HER
Worst professor. I took this and a World Lit class online together during winter intersession. She is NOT helpful what so ever. Dont expect her to explain anything, you will do it by yourself. It is A LOT of work. If you took 105 online like I did, it is set up the same. If you can, take this class at a community college when your home.
she is not too bad. there is hw every day but if you do it you will get credit for it. she is helpful if you go to her for help.
Grades unfairly, compared to other teachers teaching the class. Doesn't respond/acknowledge emails. Isn't willing to work w/ you outside of office hrs. Doesn't prepare you well for future courses b/c she discourages you to pursue a minor based off of final grade(I've changed my mind b/c of her.) Managed a B- when should have gotten an A. DONT DO IT
She is extremely difficult to understand and is little to no help. Prepare to teach yourself most of the material. She told us specifically that most of these posts are incorrect, but trust in the people that have already taken her, it is not a class I would recommend.
She is good but tough. You need to study everyday if you want to get a good grade. I am in a 201 class and I don't like not because of her, but the students they don't do anything and keep blaming her please, work more you are in college!!
There was a consistent lack of understanding what was expected. At times I had trouble finding where she would post work. There was a clear lack of strong understanding of the English language. There were multiple instances were she was unprofessional. She seemed inept in using CANVAS but continued to solely use it. She never responds to email.
She is one awesome Spanish teacher! I wouldn't want to have any other Spanish teacher but her. She's so lively and very enthusiastic so you'll never zone off, even in an 8am. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING HER IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY!
She is a nice teacher, however, when it comes to the school part she doesn't have a lot of patience. She doesn't always understand what you are saying which makes it hard for her to teach the course. My class average on the first exam was a 47% and she did not curve it at all. IF YOU TAKE HER BE READY TO TEACH YOURSELF.
Nightly homework was just a few activities from the book or on iLrn &helps your grade a ton. She expects a lot of her students but if you just spend a little extra time studying you'll do fine. I squeezed out an A- and I am terrible at Spanish. She is often difficult to understand but the class is no where near impossible. Just DO the assignments.
There are a lot of people that dislike Professor Sanchez but I got really close with her and we got along very well. She is funny and personable but knows when its time to get down to business. I would definitely recommend taking a class with her.
I took her over winter break and it was literally the hardest thing ever. If i didn't have a friend that spoke fluent Spanish i would not have passed. She literally expects you to teach yourself from the book. Her directions aren't very clear and she is condescending in her comments. Don't waste your money or time taking her over the break.
Wow! What else can I say? Profesora Sánchez actually taught me how to speak another language! Her class was a bit hard at first (she expects effort), but if you do what she asks, you will learn SO MUCH! Also, after the first few weeks, you see what she expects & it is suddenly so easy. Everybody complains that she's too hard, but she's not!!!
I love her class!
Taking her 105 over summer break and if you need help by email she is terrible about responding and when she does it comes across as rude.
Never specific about things. Does not reply to emails. Tests are nothing like she says.
The fact that she is rated so low is sad. Profesora Sanchez is a great professor that clearly cares about all of her students. If you actively participate in the class and show that you are attempting to learn the material, she will work with you! Do not be afraid of taking her courses, she is one of the nicest professors I have had!
I took two courses from her and went to Spain in the summer with her. She's one of my 2 favorite professors from Longwood. She inspired my love of Spanish, and her classes were the highlight of my education. If you want to learn, work hard, and laugh, take her courses!
Professor Sanchez is nice, but she is a tough professor. She expects participation, especially if you're taking her in 111 or 211. The tests are quite difficult and she gives out pop quizzes often. The textbook is required and is used a lot for her class. Her syllabus is very strict and attendance is mandatory. Very tough class.
stated she was easy going and wanted everyone to receive a high grade but she is SO DIFFICULT! exams are so hard, unclear about homework assignments, doesn't help, and expects majority spanish while in class.
She is a very nice person but one of the worst teachers I have ever had. I cannot speak Spanish that is the whole reason why I took a beginner's course. She speaks the majority in Spanish and her quizzes are for example, "write a sentence about this" instead of multiple choice. Expects you to be fluent in Spanish within a month. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
She is the worst professor I have ever had. I am now taking the class online at a community college, save your money and do the same. The Spanish department sucks at this school.
My biggest concern is her lack of regard for us students and failure to communicate properly. I have emailed her around 10 times and only 1 time did I get a response. It is my least favorite class I have taken at Longwood. She often claims that people hack her canvas. Be ready for tests/quizzes on material you have not learned. Stay away from her.
Expects you to know the material DIRECTLY after she teaches it. There have been MANY occasions where she gives pop quizzes when students do not answer fast enough in class. Her lectures do not usually help, be ready to teach yourself. I would encourage you to take another professor if Spanish does not come naturally for you.
I absolutely recommend taking someone else. This professor is VERY picky for a lower level class. I started using Duolingo to expand my vocabulary and to get more practice, but was told, on two occasions, that I was cheating for using vocabulary outside of the chapters she was teaching. Frankly, I learned more from Duolingo than in this class.
Im only in the second level of Spanish and she expects us to speak fluent Spanish. I asked her to go over a specific question in class and she told me that the next class was not to review it was to learn new things. I now have to teach myself Spanish while also handing the rest of my classes. Recommend to find another professor if possible.
The class was homework heavy. The professor was very hard to work with. In class she is acceptable, she will call you out in class. The real issue: she is the absolute worst professor to talk to outside of class. I constantly had to email her because she'd grade wrong--but she assumed malice intent and would lecture me on asking or never even chec.
She is a decent professor, she absolutely loves the online textbook and basically uses it for everything. As long as you try and participate in her class and do your homework you should be good for her class. But beginner Spanish is not like high school beginner Spanish so be warned its more difficult than you think.
If you have to take spanish at Longwood I highly suggest taking this class! She is the best, at points its hard to understand but if you ask for help she is more than willing to go out of her way and help. I was always excited to go to class and see what we would be doing, I highly suggest taking her if you have the option!
She tells us to say something in Spanish when she takes attendance and gets mad if we say things such here or good morning. She told us in class that there would be matching and true-false on the midterm but every single question on the test was fill in the blank or write a sentence. For somoene who learns slower, she is not helpful at all.
I would not take her for an introductory class if you have never had Spanish before. Very fast paced which can make the class daunting. A lot of work and be prepared to do MindTap before she teaches it in class, and yes it is for a grade. If you have never taken Spanish do not take her, you get thrown in head first, and just hope you can swim.
DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THIS PROFESSOR!!! For this to be a beginning level Spanish class, she way too hard on her students. She's easily offended if students do not participate in class when they are just confused. She requires you to speak in Spanish as if this your first language. She's easily offended when students don't answer quickly.
Professor Sanchez is a good teacher and creates games and activities that help to engage everyone for a language teacher she is pretty good. The class is hard. She creates lots of extra credit opportunities. she is nice and is very enthusiastic about teaching.
Professor Sanchez was a great professor. She cares a lot about her students and was always willing to help me. She is very understanding and allows lots of assignments to help boost your grade. As long as your try your best she apprieciates your effort!
Professor Sanchez gets a bad rep. If you are a person who is willing to participate and complete all of your homework, you will do just fine in the class. Just be nice and respectful towards her and she will do the same for you. I also had her for 110 but did not do as well simply because I did not finish my homework.
She is a very nice person. However, she is just not a good professor unless you already know spanish. She is more of a spectator than a teacher. Not very accessible and makes me feel very hopeless at ever knowing spanish unless I entirely teach myself.
She is a sweet person, but you need to make sure that you study outside of class for her class to be helpful. In class, we learn in a conversation format so be ready to speak in Spanish! However, she is very accessible outside of class and you should take advantage of her office hours as a resource!
Professor Sanchez can be challenging, but if you stay engaged and use helpful study tools like unstuckstudy, you can succeed. The class is homework-heavy, so be prepared to put in the work. Attend class, do your assignments, and communicate with the professor - that's the key to doing well.
I was out for a week with the flu last month and out again with strep this month. The flu was handled by the health department and CARE Team and the strep was covered by a doctors note. I sent her a follow up email since she hadnt responded to my doctors note and she informed me she was failing me based off the attendance policy,Forced to withdraw.
This class was pretty unorganized. Syllabus is confusing so make sure to read daily announcements for homework. You can do well if you make sure to study terms/sentences/practice questions before tests. Overall she's nice but demands a lot of studying and homework.
Prof Sanchez is a very very unorganized lady. She is very nice and likes to "have fun" but homework is everyday and very unorganized. She speaks mostly in Spanish and makes her announcements in spanish which only adds confusion. Her test study guides are very unclear and it will just be a big guessing game.
