She is the best math teacher ever, and she is young so she teaches it in a way you can understand it. Laura knows what it is like to suck at math and she can help anyone to pass

Laura is so awesome! You'll want to be her friend because she's rad & so helpful! BUT this class is not for the faint of heart, it has a 60%+ failure rate. You need to go to every class, esp. review classes, review all board examples, and homework questions before tests. Make the math lab your life and you'll do well. Slackers will fail!

Yay Laura!! She's so great. Super helpful, she really simplifies math. Proofs are annoying, but they help my understanding. Tough marker though. Bonus marks for doing homework, and "hints" on exams for part marks. Recommended.

She is always willing to help students, she even comes into class before tests. Ive been at camosun for two years and laura is by far one of the best profs ive had. She teaches in a way that makes you understand the material rather then memorize it. Fair/tough marker which keeps you motivated and helps you in the future. Also very approachable and friendly. Highly recommended, especialy if you want to continue with math.

Laura offers help before after and during class to students that need it But when she is not one on one she flies through chapters and makes a lot of small errors on the board which makes it even more frustrating for a student who is already having trouble understanding the topic.If you take her course be prepared to work VERY hard.

Ive taken many math courses over the years and Laura has been my favourite prof. by a large margin (Far better in fact than my calc. prof at McGill). Her methods were clear and to the point. She explains each topic at a fairly basic level and then builds on it with examples, allowing for a more complete understanding. I would highly recommend her!

I wish I could have Laura as a teacher for every one of my classes! She's so passionate about math, and it shows! Her notes are well-organized and clear, and full of examples! Laura Shepherd is the best! The queen of all math teachers! She cares so much about all her students. She is always available for help whether she is in her office or not as she is very quick to respond to emails. She gives daily questions every day which really help boost your mark and understanding if you do them (DO THEM!). Also she's hilarious.

I have taken math 115 5 times and always done terrible. In Laura's class she pushes you to actually learn & helps you the entire way. I went from failing to an A thanks to her and it helped to teach me study methods for my other classes. Laura cares about students which is a rare quality I find these days & she tracks their success in other classes

Ive taken both 115 and 107. The concepts are not easy but Laura does everything she can to help you understand. She is always available to help and is very approachable. You have to be willing to put in the work with the concepts in this course and Laura goes a long way to get you through it and make sure your prepaid for the next step.

Content is hard, but having her as my prof, makes it easy. She makes her lectures fun and interesting as she very passionate in teaching! Engage students with in class questions. I took this class before with a different insturctor and failed. I can not believe how much better Laura is! She is so helpful and nice. I gave her class a 3 on the easy scale because you still have to work for it but she gives you her time and the tools to succeed and prepares you really well for 101. Camosun's best, she rocks!

Laura is amazing and very caring, has more office hours than any other professor, she wants to help. She tests me everyday to see what I know and don't so I know what to work on. Her class is tough but all 115 is tough there is a lot of material to cover. Study hard take notes and ask for help and you will do great. Without her I would fail.

I went to her and told her I needed a better mark and she hand wrote daily tests for me. She makes herself available everyday and believed in me when I didn't. MT 1: 63% MT 3: 95%.

Has insane amounts of office hours, always returns marks the next day, and will work her butt off to help you improve your grade if you are willing to put the work in. Laura is AMAZING. Such a gem and a wonderful teacher. Calc 100 was really difficult but with her help I saw my grade steadily improving. Coming to class and doing the homework are both MANDATORY if you want a good grade but Laura makes it fun and is super helpful. Also, her practice examples have chickens. Lots of chickens. Laura is one of the best profs I've had and certainly one of the best at Camosun overall. She makes Calculus, a very challenging course, enjoyable and a little easier to learn. I really enjoyed how she would explain material and then allow us class time to practice them for ourselves while she walked around helping. Very effective teaching style.

Good teacher had her in the summer for 100 and this fall for 101 lectures tests were fair just do homework lol and use the practice test as a PRACTICE TEST not a copy answers test lololol. 101 is a tough long course so obviously it wont be easy but its not harder with laura!!! ALSO go to class she literally tells u whats on test LOL

Best prof I've had. Had a different prof for another math course and still went to Laura for help. Always willing to help and encourages in class participation. The more you attend the more you will learn. Do all the practice questions or you won't succeed but that goes with any math based course.

Laura is such a fun teacher and in turn made math fun for me again. Shes made the concepts I struggled with in grade 12 so much easier to understand and with a solid grasp of the material Ive been getting As on recent tests. I cant thank her enough, I honestly thought Id hate to take more math courses but now Im more confident than ever!

I bombed my first test (I missed the first week of classes--tip: don't rearrange your schedule 3 times...), and she worked her butt off to help me get back on track. I aced the next text. If you ask for help, Laura will do her best to help you. Classes are fast, but there is a review session before the test. The tests are not too difficult as long as you do class review well.

Laura is a very nice person and a great teacher. Most of the complaints are based on the fact that most students do not understand that significant out of class studying in required for any math past pre calculus.

Laura was an amazing math teacher and I believe that she really helped me understand the material. She'll stop during her lessons to ensure that everybody understands what's being covered, which is more than what can be said for many of the math teachers I've had in the past. She's also very fun and taught me how cool Quesnel and chickens can be!

The best teacher ever.I strongly recommend buying a textbook and DOING ALL OF QUESTIONS ON THE RECOMMENDED HOMEWORK LIST. If you attend every day(it wasn't mandatory and doesn't affect your grade), do homework, go to office hour and review all content one week before the exam, you will get at least A. I spent at least 3 hrs every day and got A+!
