good teacher pretty easy.... but sometimes takes the entire class explaining one problem lol really helpful... take her!
She is very eager to help and answer questions in class. She can be a little ditsy at times, but you can definetely tell that she care a lot about what she is teaching and wants you to understand. I would recommend her!
She's such a great teacher. Very humble, willing to answer questions. I recommend her greatly
She is so willing to help u with math, she once stopped giving her parents a tour of UCSD to help me with math questions. her tests are easy if u just go to the TA review sessions.
Great teacher. You can tell she loves teaching and loves the subject.
She's EXTREMELY nice!!!!!!! :) I really hope she teaches at UCSD more often! She's a Must-Take!
Dr. Stevens is a great professor, she loves what she does, and truly cares about her students. Above all, she KNOWS how to teach. Tests/quizzes are extremely fair and straightforward, homework is not collected but necessary to succeed in the class because of the material's difficulty.
Take her, you won't regret it. She's such an awesome professor. Go to lectures regularly though and do your homework, then you'll be fine. Don't miss the review sessions either.
Good teacher. Clear and willing to answer questions. A little ditzy but a cool teacher. Quizzes given came off the homework. midterms and final were harder but not her fault because she doesn't make them. she goes over the practice midterms and final but it doesnt help on the real tests.
Hottest teacher ever!Great teacher. Learned Alot. Hard to concentrate due to hottness sometimes, but if you want to learn shes great for that too.
By the end of the quarter, I only went to class on test/quiz days. Class was a review of the first third of high school calculus for me. Lectures were not that helpful & were spent on hard problems that were not on tests or quizzes, however Prof is very enthusiastic. Homework is optional. Attend discussion and that's all that is really necessary.
Great teacher, very enthusiastic about teaching. She's sometimes ditzy but it makes the lectures fun. Quizes and tests are the same for all 20B so no teacher is harder than another. Go to her office hours. She's pretty hot too and has really nice handwriting.
stevens is an attractive professor, but when it comes to teaching calculus it just doesn't go well. when it comes to test i just don't do well after doing the hw. i don't know wwjd
Hottie Professor!! You can't tell she's a phD from her looking....She explains the concept clearly and actually teaches u how to solve different kinds of problems. Nice Notes and review before test. You won't feel bored when you are in the lecture cuz she's so enthusiastic......I got A+ on the midterm with her tips anyways Strongly Recommended!!!!
Dr. Stevens is passionate about her subject, but she has very ditzy comments throughout lecture. She would occasionally get confused while discussing a subject, and it was difficult understanding her train of thought. Stevens brought humor to a dry subject, but compared to other teachers, I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND her if you want to be ready for 10B.
a wonderful professor, very outgoing and passionate. Although she can seem a little perky at times, it really helps keep the class alive.
She is the best Math teacher I have had. After taking her class I started to like math again. If you can take her class, she knows how to teach and you will never fall asleep during her lectures.
She is a great professor. Very clear. Exams reflect lectures and homework problems. TAKE HER!!
She is overall coherent/clear in lecture, and occasionally injects her own techniques and shortcuts into the material. The tests pretty much represented the course material, and the final was weighted more toward the material of second half of the quarter. Worth taking.
Amazing, supernice teacher. She loves her job, you can tell by the way she teaches! TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
She makes everything so clear and easy to understand. Definitely go to her office hours, so helpful indeed.
very energetic and clear! exams are easy if you go to classes and do hwk!
pretty amazing professor. She keeps her promise that if you do the work then you'll get a good grade.
Best teacher so far. Enthusiastic and helpful everyday. The #1 teacher actually concerned with students understanding. In lecture she helps the dumbest student in the class which can get annoying, but lecture is strongly recommended. Difficult material but able to succeed if put in the time and get questions answered.
Good professor. VERY helpful if you have a problem. Very enthusiastic while she's lecturing.
I had her for math 20b and 10c and she was very nice, very enthusiastic and very helpful. It's nice when there's not a lot of people in her office hours because she gives all her attention to you but when there was a lot, it kinda sucked. In 20b, I asked the right questions, and it showed up on her test. Cheat sheets also helped a lot.
Love, love, LOVE her! She is so excited about math that lectures actually kept my attention! She explains everything so clearly. She is great at office hours. 20B is supposed to be hard, but she makes it manageable. Exams are fair too.
Stevens is a very enthusiastic teacher who loves what she does. She takes her students questions into consideration and tries to always make sure the understanding is crystal clear. She gets very excited when people get answers right, but make sure you make it to office hours on time or else she wont see you.
I had her for Intro to Teaching Math, which is very different from 20series classes, but I still wanted to put in a good word. She is sincerely concerned with her students, is very intelligent and explains well, and her enthusiasm is contagious. I loved the class, and learned a great deal. Definitely take her if you can, she's great!
She's AMAZING! I love her teaching style. She loves helping students learn, she's bubbly and energetic, which all helped keep me awake during lectures. her exams aren't that bad if you actually study, and DO study. once you get the idea of differential equations, the class doesnt seem so bad...really!
Awesome professor! She is genuinely concern about her students. If you have a question, she will try her best to answer it. Her enthusiasm and high energy kept the lectures alive and exciting. She is very helpful in office hour. A MUST TAKE if you are taking math at UCSD. Get into her class…IF YOU CAN! By the way, she is really, really HOT.
Best math professor that I've had so far at UCSD. The midterms are not hard if you do the hw and the final is alright if you study.
Take her! Her lectures are so much fun to go to because she's always so happy. She really wants to make sure students understand the material, and office hours are like DI with the prof. She makes DEQs easy. Her enthusiasm is amazing, & her tests are very clear, though not necessarily easy. Do the hw & visit office hours & you're set.
She's just great. If you have never taken a class with her please do so immediately.
She was the best professor I have ever had! She was excited and funny in class. she actually seemed to care if her students succeeded or not.
Awesome professor. She knows the stuff and explains the stuff so well. Tests and quizzes are reflective of material. But dont underestimate this class as it will pick up in difficulty.
She is great at making you understand and really wants to help
Professor Stevens is an amazing professor. I highly recommend taking her. She is the most enthusiastic professors I have ever had. She really wants to help you learn. She is excited about math. She is extremely accessible to students, and very helpful during office hours. Her tests are very doable as long as you keep up with the homework.
Professor is VERY enthusiastic, which is refreshing. She is eager to help. Excellent professor, but content is significantly more difficult than 10B.
She's... extremely helpful. I love her class. She's the best professor that I have ever seen @ UCSD.
Best math teacher I've had at SD. She's really good at breaking down math concepts to make it easier to understand. Final and midterms are do-able if you go to class and do the hw. Take her if you ever get the chance to! :)
Wow. Amazing professor. Makes college calculus not only interesting and fun, but easy. Very good at teaching. It's almost as if she knows exactly what the students are thinking. She is so in tune to how the students are doing in the class. She's a brilliant young energetic professor. If you have the chance, TAKE HER. Not to mention, she's hot.
If you're taking math at UCSD, take her class. End of story :=)
OMG! she is amazing. She teaches really really well. I love her class, never fall to sleep. Even tho, we can't have cheat sheet in midterm, she gives us the formula sheet which helps a lot. She is the best proffessor at UCSD!
Best/hottest math Professor ever! I don't like math but I loved her class. Take her even if you don't need math! Fun and energetic lectures and cares about students. Exams were not bad and quizes are directly from homework. No other prof compares, she's the best.
She was pretty clear during lecture, always answered questions afterwards. She does a LOT of examples in lecture, and occasionally goes too fast. She understands her material and is very enthusiastic about math. Doesn't assign too much homework. Go to her lectures and you won't need the book. She really works hard to make sure people understand.
Clear professor w/ energy. Turned in homework for credit (no quizzes), midterm were easy if you understood homework; no trick questions, very approachable, no problem at all to have her for morning class. I liked how she had review problems at the beginning of class.
Fabulous professor. Super enthusiastic about her subject and really inspires her students to be the same way. She's fair and definitely challenges her students in a good way. If you have the opportunity to take her class, do it!-you won't regret it!
She is amazing! Very clear, always smiling and willing to help. Quizzes are based from homework. I always look forward to going to her class. Best math professor, highly recommended!
great professor, really clear and obviously passionate about what she teaches. exams are fine, just do the homework and take notes during lecture and you'll be good to go. in person she could possibly pass as jennifer garner's twin?
Stevens is probably the best math prof for lower div. She's a bit odd, but speaks and writes very clearly on the board. Definitely gives examples to help you learn. Students from the other profs always came to our lecture because it was the best, so make sure you can find a seat
If you can take her, do it! She is such a great professor!
She is AMAZING. if i could choose one professor it would be her. she is AWESOME! number one recommended professor ever!!!!!
This is a Professor you want to take. She is a light hearted fun teacher who actually gets you to learn how other people tend to think and answer questions in math. If you can Take Her. I especially recommend Math 95 for people who are not math majors.
Great lecturer who really cares about students. Easy to understand, great at simplifying things, and overall not too difficult of a class. She's young, full of energy, and very passionate about math, which definitely helps keep lecture interesting. Not too mention she's hot
Clear lecturer and writes largely.
Shes the BEST professor that ive ever met. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN, take her class. IF YOU WANT TO GET A, take her class
She was my teacher for math 10a. Very easy class thanks to her ability to hold the class' attention. explanations on problems were very clear and she made material very comprehensible. All incoming freshman science/engineering majors who are behind the rest of the pack should try to take her class. She will help you make up lost ground.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! you MUST take her!! :) She is the most caring and clear math professor I have ever met, and actually made me want to learn math :) So kind and sweet, and crystal clear!! DEFNITELY take her!! yay stevens!
She is easily the best professor I've had here in UCSD. Her lectures are great and you actually learn from them. She goes over plenty of examples to make sure everyone understands the material. The final was also very easy as long as you do some studying.
I have never had a professor so passionate about the subject she teaches. She genuinely cares if we understand the material and prepares you very well for the final. If you're going to take Math 20B, DEFINITELY take her. :)
she is a very passionate and nice person. she actually wants to teach and wants you to learn. not many professors actually try to make you learn. unless most of the old professors, students are her first priority. she is very clear and knowledgable about her material. so you will learn a lot from her lectures.
Truly passionate about what she teaches, and she makes it absolutely clear. Hands down, one of the best professors at UCSD. I've always had a hard time grasping math but Professor Stevens makes it very understandable.
Amazing. Very helpful during office hours. Guides thinking, problem solving skills. Easy to talk to. You can learn a lot about teaching and learning from her classes.
she was really nice, almost overlly excited but i loved the class. go to lectures, its hard to get wats going on if you miss, but i hear shes really helpful in her office hours. and tests and quizzes arent too bad, you should do hw... i would definitely take another one of her classes if i could.
Shes a great professor! She wants students to learn and is very approachable.
Not only is she totally sexy, but she really knows what she's doing. She loves it when you ask questions, and the tests are really straight-forward. Only thing was sometimes she gets excited and talks really fast and skips a few explanations. But I'd definitely suggest her.
Great lecturer, she writes almost everything on the board, facilitates note taking and her explanations are simple to understand. Great professor! Highly recommend!
Professor Stevens is by far the best teacher I have had at UCSD. Her lectures are really easy to understand, she has a good mixture of theory and examples. She is also really pretty and so incredibly enthusiastic about teaching. TAKE HER FOR MATH.
she is a GREAT professor. she MAKES SURE her students understand what she is teaching. BEST math professor i've had in UCSD.
I definitely recommend her to anyone taking math. Best math teacher I've had.
Very enthusiastic about the subject. She does a great job of explaining and giving examples that reflect what is going to be on the midterms and final. Definitely recommend this professor.
She definitely made Math 20B manageable. One of the few professors where you'd never want to miss a lecture.
She is awesome!
Good professor, teaches the material well but is overly enthusiastic. She starts to rush through examples the second half of the quarter when the material gets harder. You can't get an individual question answered in her office hours though so just go to your TA's office hours.
Short and sweet: hot, knows how to teach well, no monotone voice, and energetic ;)
She's a really good teacher, helps me understand this class, she makes everything so clear. i love her lectures
Great teacher. Good, clear lectures. Nothing wrong with her.
The best math teacher I've had in my life. She's very enthusiastic and tries very hard to make everything clear for you. Class material was difficult but she makes the class more enjoyable. Consider yourself lucky to be in her class.
She's really helpful. I usually don't get it conceptually, but she makes sure to explain it clearly so that you get it. She also really cares about students. She gets really excited when she's teaching and if you ask questions. I think if I didn't get her as a professor I would've failed the class.
A really nice teacher. You get to use a cheat-sheet on midterms and the final. Do the homework and you should have no trouble on the midterms and final. There is a slight curve applied at the end of the class.
Knows exactly what it takes to succeed in learning the course material and how to communicate ideas to students. In 20f, no cheat sheets, but she lectures so clearly I haven't had to study at all for them. Is the best math professor I've had here, is completely interested in her students succeeding, and rearrange your schedule to get her if you can
She is one of the best math teachers ever!!! she is really passionate about mathematics and it shows.
this teacher is extremely good. she clearly explains every detail and the tests are generally what she teaches you. she is also a good looking teacher and i recommend taking this teacher.
she's a hottie. with a body. plus she teaches freakin well and is freakin nice. her lectures feel like a high school class and she really tries to answer everyones questions and make everything clear.
She's such an awesome teacher. Really helpful and nice. On a random note, she looks a lot like Jennifer Garner.
She is a fantastic teacher I would really recommend her, she clarifies when you ask her to and she makes everything simple. She is cute but sometimes has weird style, but overall shes just a nice woman and a great professor. The final was hard but not impossible, you can have cheat sheets for every midterm along with the final.
She's an amazing professor. Definitely recommend her! She made everything crystal clear and section is really helpful for questions on homework problems. I got an A+ :)
I got an A- on the first midterm, solid A on the second midterm...and on those weekly quizes, I scored perfect (8 out of 8) on all of them except for two (6's). But the finals is what you have to worry about. My overall grade came out to be a B+ & i couldnt understand why, but in this class..FINALS is what determines your overall grade.
Probably the best calc teacher! She does good examples on the board and she makes it an effort to answer everyones questions! I finished class with a B but i think that's pretty good considering i bombed the final! Final is nothing compared to the midterms. So STUDY!
Extremely enthusiastic. Clear explanations of material. Helpful outside of class. Fairly patient professor.
good professor. i went to other professor lectures and they can't teach anything! they teach unnecessary stuff which is why im sure steven's class always set the 10a curve. only take 10a with stevens.
I love professor stevens. She loves when you ask questions. She is wiling to help you outside of class. Extremely helpful. She is easy to talk to and welcomes anyone. I had never taken Calculus but she made it easy for me to understand the material. Left with a B. My favorite professor so far.
I LOVE professor Stevens. Even though I am absolutely terrible at math she makes the class interesting with her lively personality. Not to mention she actually shows you several examples of how to work out problems instead of just focusing on theory. She's very helpful when you go to office hours & encourages question asking in class!
Incredible professor! I struggle with math, but she somehow makes everything make sense. She's very approachable, energetic, helpful, and fair.
one of the greatest profressors i have ever had. Take her if you can!!
She is seriously one of the nicest, most approachable professors I've come across. You can tell she's a teaching professor too. I love how she teaches and she writes BIG. She's very clear and I actually understood a lot of the material just from lecture. She's very fun and engaging and she chooses great TAs.Take her if you can, you won't regret it!
sh elooks so young from faraway! she's clear and teaches well, speaks loudly, and very enthusiastic, you can tell she loves math! tests are pretty straightforward, quiz every other week, pretty good curve too, overall reccommended
Best professor I've ever had for math! So passionate and enthusiastic on a daily basis. Got a 62% on the Final Exam and still ended up with a solid B in the course!! :D
Hands down, 1 of the best professor's you'll ever have in your college career. She is an actual teacher unlike the other 'professors!' She writes big, she's loud and clear, she's enthusiastic about the subject, she chooses AMAZING TA's. She's everything a professor should be. I enjoyed math for once... haha TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!!
Sexiest professor seen, yet! A little hard to concentrate to what she was saying, but she's a good professor. Explained the course well. Started and ended class on time. Voice: loud and clear. She was such a great professor that students from other professors come to her lecture instead.
I went to the other proffesor's lecture and doesnt compete to her outstanding teaching style. So, I just took a risk and waitlisted in her. All the midterms and tests are the shared by all the other profs. Very patient and gives us questions in the beginning of class to help us understand the previous lecture. one word. AWESOME
Best math teacher by far! Her lectures are very clear and interesting. Tests are a little difficult, but they're pretty fair. She really cares about your education, and makes every effort to ensure that you understand the material. I highly recommend her.
She is way too loud and does not give a clear explanation.Read the book rather than referring to her useless notes. She tries. She fails.
She is a great teacher and really cares about her students, but she's heavy on theory.
Professor Stevens is very clear in explaining the math material. She makes it as basic as she possibly can (which was REALLY helpful for me personally)so that everyone can be able to understand the material. She's also very enthusiastic and simple in her teaching so all around she is a GREAT professor!!
Dr. Stevens is probably THE BEST professor for math out there. If you EVER get the chance to take her, don't even hesitate. You'll regret it if you do. She is crystal clear with her lectures and takes time to answer questions. I took her for an 8AM and I'm not a morning person, but I stayed wide awake! I wish I could have her every quarter!
She is a really good lecturer, clear with her explainations and very fair on test. The quizzes are from the hw and midterms are easy if you do the work. Made Math do able and seem simple. would recommend !!!
I found her to have a boring delivery and followed the textbook. In general, I would not recommend her, take a different class.
I didn't do so well in both the first and second midterms, around average, so I began to REALLY put my effort to understanding the theory behind all the calculations and I understood. I felt prepared to the final and I guess scoring perfect scores for homework and MATLAB in addition to getting only 5 wrong on the final helped me get an A!
Her lectures are very clear. She's writes up all her notes on the board, so just write them into your notebook neatly and study off of them. Her quizzes and exams are very fair; they reflect the homework. She loves it when people ask questions; you can tell she's very concerned for her students. She's such a sweet heart of a teacher.
Dr. Stevens is SUPER helpful and very excited about math! I LOVED having her!
She is simply the best professor in UCSD. She will seriously thank you for asking questions. I am even thinking of majoring in math.
Professor Stevens is an amazing teacher; she is very clear and gives great lectures. Also, the homework is very similar to the quizzes and the midterms are fairly easy. I would highly recommend taking her class.
she's an amazing professor. you can tell she really enjoys what she does and she's really helpful when she teaches. don't be afraid to ask questions even if they seem like dumb questions because she doesn't mind answering them. I strongly suggest taking her if you get the chance
Professor Stevens overall was a good professor. Its hard not to like her, very sweet person. Explains the material well. I recomend taking her
She is so excited about teaching math, its amazing! She smiles almost the entire time during class, it kind of rubs off. Her tests are fair and I recommend attending office hours to seek help! Her lectures are very helpful and she is very good at explaining concepts.
Great professor, and makes a lot of effort in class so that students understand the material. She's very helpful, and great at explaining conceptually.
She is an AMAZING professor who is crystal clear with every detail of the course. She is passionate about teaching and even thank you for asking questions in class. Midterms are really easy. You will be fine for this course for just going to lectures and doing the homework. Take her!
There isn't enough space me to express my gratitude toward her. She is the most energetic, intelligent and nice professor at UC San Diego. This class would have been so much harder without her and I wish I could have her again for a math class. And let's all be honest, she's pretty attractive too, extra motivation to go to lecture. Take her!!!
You will not regret taking her class.
Professor Stevens is such a blessing. She is amazing. She wants to make you feel confident when you leave the class. The test are fair. There are no quizzes. Mathematical reasoning is very hard but she explains it so well. Take her!
Great
Very clear professor. Challenging tests and quizzes with little room for error. Lots of energy and enthusiasm, but worth taking.
She is a well prepared professor. She is clear, but sometimes she can skip a step and you'll be like wait what just happened there and then you get confused on the whole equation. She can go a bit fast , but don't be afraid to ask questions, she'll be happy to answer them. I had her at 8am and she got my attention, she is loud and clear.
She is great at explaining things, go to the last lecture before exams and make sure you understand all the problems as midterms will be similar. Best math prof I have had in UCSD and I had to take all 20 series.
Midterms are nothing like homework. Do not expect any curve since the class average is crazy high (mostly math&sciences majors in the 20 series). Homework is not collected. I got a A- on 20a with another instructor but ended up with a C for her 20b. She is a sweet person but gives really hard exams, so think about it before you decide to take her.
Prof. Stevens is the most amazing professor I have ever taken. I never thought I would enjoy going to math. TAKE THIS CLASS! She is so clear during her lectures and explains everything so well. She is kind, smart, funny and truly cares about her students.
She was the best math professor I ever had. I got really close with her. It's obvious she cares a lot about her students. Take her if you can. If you're struggling she wants to help you.
If you 're good at math already then, wow, is this class a piece of cake. If you're not then it is still very easy to do well. Pretty sure she has the easiest tests out of the 20B teachers--but that doesn't mean her tests are inadequate evaluations of your knowledge.
If you have prior Calculus knowledge, it's an easy A. Lectures prepare you for the test (examples during class are spot-on). Homework is totally do-able; not difficult. Stevens is super friendly and willing to help; she will keep you awake and live for that 8AM.
Amazing professor. Keeps lectures interesting and her exams are very fair. She will keep you up for that 8 am., in more than one way ;)
If you're really good at calculus already, then this class will be a breeze. Her exams are almost the same as the examples that she gives in class. She gives you book problems that you don't have to do, but are really useful in preparation for exams. Very perky at 8am. I would recommend Professor Stevens to everyone!
I already took Calc 2 before so this class was a breeze for me. I averaged 99% on the midterms and a 87% on the final but I still got a B+ in the class because I failed the quizzes due to silly mistakes. She's one of the best and enthusiastic math teachers out there though. I went to class just so I could witness her beauty and grace. lol
Prof. Stevens are one of my favorite math teachers in my life. Her lectures are straightforward, supper clear, and easy to understand. Homework is not collected but you should do it if you want to pass the quizzes (straight from homework) and exams with high grades. I really enjoyed her class and it inspired me to like math more. Highly recommend!
Math 10B sucks unless you're good at math or already took Calculus. If I had to rate the course it would be a "meh". HOWEVER, considering the circumstances, Stevens is the best possible teacher you can get here. Honestly the best teacher I had for the 10 series. Obviously you probably need to work hard, but hey, at least Stevens will be there for u
Great lectures. Gives the fundamental ideas and follows with examples. Her lectures are clear and she is very approachable. Fair midterms and finals. She allows you a cheatsheet for exams.
Prof. Stevens is a total sweetheart and you can tell she loves her job. She is always so bright and cheerful, even at 8 am lectures. She is very clear and helpful and always encourages questions. A real joy to take.
Dr. Stevens is hands down THE best math professor at UCSD. I love the way she lectures and explains the material - it makes it so easy to understand and pass the class. Just go to lecture, take notes, do the homework, and you will pull off an easy A!
She's a good teacher. Her lectures are clear and quizzes are based on homework questions. Her midterms and final are pretty difficult though
Dr. Stevens is a blessing. She has been the best professor I've had at this school. Stevens actually cares about her students, and always has extra office hours before midterms or the final to assure students are well prepared. Stevens always makes sure her lectures are clear and doesn't mind explaining things multiple times if there are questions.
Professor Stevens is AMAZING! Her energy and her teaching methods were the only reason I was able to drag myself to an 8am math class. She made the material a lot more understandable and I was able to stay awake during every class because of how excited she was about math!
She is an amazing professor. I really enjoyed going to her lectures. Will definitely take again.
She's a great teacher. She clearly explains material, and always helpful in office hours. Trust me her office hours are super helpful. She never tests on anything she hasn't reviewed in class. If your good at math you will be fine. If you struggle with math she can help. and a little hardwork will help. I suggest doing the ungraded textbook problem
She is, by far, the best math professor I have ever had. Coming into UCSD, I absolutely hated math and I was afraid of taking it. But after taking Professor Steven's class, I actually enjoyed Math and understand every concept she taught. I would love to take her again and I definitely recommend her.
Really energetic and nice professor. Her test questions were always very easy. If you've never taken calculus before, I'd recommend going to lectures. You'll ace the class as long as you review the textbook and homework problems.
She is always energetic in lecture and open to questions. Notes are easy to follow and her tests are reasonable and straight forward. The class is not very difficult. Go to lecture and section and do all the homework and you will probably do well.
She is very enthusiastic about math that it somehow manages to put people in a good mood. I recommend taking her.
One of my favorite math professors here, Professor Stevens always brings a smile to the class and teaches with a friendly approach. She's very supportive for any student who is struggling and offers many options for help. Even if you're struggling, she always offers help. She brought the enjoyment into mathematics! I'd always take her classes!
It's an easy class, and the professor is amazing (even though I don't attend lecture that often)! She's kind and her exams are very clear and straight forward! Recommend!
Prof Stevens is very nice and her lectures are clear and very helpful to those who struggle with math. She is the best and the most beautiful professor. Take her class! This course is the easiest one I have had in UCSD.
If you want to take Calculus here at UCSD, you would not want to miss Stevens' class. Her physical beauty and her inspirational teaching are the two primary reasons to drag me up at 8 am.
She's the most beautiful teacher at UCSD campus besides that shes passionate , influential and charismatic. she says she needs to spend "all lecture time with you guys" (US), one of the few teachers I wouldn't have a problem with ; She just makes it that much easier to come to class.
18 is not a very easy class but she somehow is able to make everything so clear. She cares about students a lot and often sends emails to remind you of things you need to do. She's always so energetic in class and I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to take math 18 to take her class.
I like Stevens! She is so passionate and professional during the class. Though her class is in the morning at 8 am, I will put her class as the first choice for next quarter.
I'm a pre-med who excels in chem and bio, but fears math like it's an angry bear charging right for me. Professor Stevens' clear and concise lectures and examples, combined with her fair and straightforward exams, helped me to earn the first A on a math exam I've ever gotten without the help of a private tutor. Plus, she is gorgeous!
The best math lecturer I have ever had. Although linear algebra is a tough subject, she somehow manages to make it understandable and enjoyable. She seems to actually care about her students and wants them to do well, and encourages students to ask questions during class. Tests are fair and reasonable if you study and know your stuff.
She is very nice and full of passion in teaching math. She wants every student to get a good grade so her exams are relatively easy. You will find math interesting if you take her class!
lovely teacher, explained everything.
Hands down the best prof I ever had
The most energetic math lecturer that I have ever met. You can expect an A if you do all that is mentioned in the course homepage. However, you might want to learn more than what the course itself provides, so it's better if you conquer the whole textbook.
Prof. Stevens is very enthusiastic about teaching which is probably why I haven't fallen asleep in her 8ams. She never makes students feel bad about asking questions, in fact she encourages them, which is very nice. Her exams are easy but just be careful to not make mistakes!
She is so sweet and really cares about her students doing well! Her lectures are good and she gives a lot of examples that really help with the homework and studying, I just wish the class wasn't at 8am... But she is an amazing professor and person, and she prepares you really well for the exams! Study and go to class and you should be good.
She's a great professor. Super funny and pushes you to do great. Material is kinda hard in general but she explains very clearly and uses lots of examples! Take her class even if its 8am, so worth it!
very engaging and energetic during lecture. she covers everything pretty thoroughly and clearly, also the tests usually have questions taken straight from the homework with tweaked numbers, so if you understand the homework there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. I wish i would've woken up more often to be able to make it to her 8 am's!
She's full of energy, her speech is clear and fluent (easy to follow), and she constantly lets student ask questions to clarify anything we may be unclear about. Homework are harder than exams; exams use simple numbers so don't worry too much about the basic math. Highly recommended!
Very caring professor, wants you to succeed. Professor Stevens is very articulate and goes over each concept clearly with examples. There's a lot of homework but if you actually do them and understand it, it'll help during the midterm and final. Office hours are highly recommended if you want to get an A.
Very clear lecture, and very clear notes on board.
Homework is helpful and not busywork, quizzes are very representative of the material learned in class, only complaint is that the homework spans across 3 separate websites/platforms which gets annoying
11/10 professor, very clear expectations and explains course material very well. Homework doesn't take too much time and is helpful. Exams are fair and should be pretty easy if you review the homework.
100/10 professor. Best math professor at UCSD! Professor Stevens is very caring and her lectures are very clear. If you go to lecture, take notes, and do your homework, you will definitely pass. Very fair grader and tests are reflective of what is taught in lecture.
Love. Love. Love. Take Stevens if you can swing it. She is an amazing professor and she really cares if you learn. The material wasnt hard but I feel like I got a deeper understanding of it. I always wanted to go to class. Even if you arent interested in math education, you will enjoy this class. What are you waiting for?! Enroll now!!!
Stevens makes linear algebra easy. This was my favorite class to go to because every lecture was jam-packed with new information (which means attending lecture is extremely important for Stevens). One of the best professors Ive had.
I've had Stevens for both 10B and 18, in which both instances I think she has been an amazing professor. She is hands down the most intelligent and engaging professor I have had both times yet I do have to point out that her exams are very difficult. I got higher grades in 10A and 10C than I did in 10B/18. She is amazing, but exams/HW is hard.
Dr. Stevens is the BEST professor I've had at UCSD. She explains things really well, and cares about her students. Attendance is not mandatory, but I recommend going to her lectures anyway because they are absolutely amazing and you'll feel like you've learned something after each one.
She's a strong lecturer. The homework wasn't too bad, and the midterms weren't awful. Good teacher.
I wish Professor Stevens would teach all my future math courses. She makes the material so simple and understandable. Her ability to explain mathematical concepts so well and thoroughly without making it complex and overwhelming is pretty amazing. She cares about the students' learning and encourages people to ask questions.
Professor Stevens is an amazing professor. I had her for MATH 20B and I love the way she teaches. Shes energetic and teaches everything very clearly. She might be the best math professors UCSD has. Take her and you will not regret it
She is really energetic and takes you in the right way.
Search her on Cape and look at her ratings. They speak for themselves --- consistently near 100% of students recommend her. She is one of the most caring and best professors the math department has, and her bubbly personality tops it all off :')
(+): 30-minute homework, easy grading criteria, very clear, kind, and organized, and teaches you the reason behind effective math teaching strategies!
Personally, the best math lecturer ever. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she actually is genuinely good at explaining concepts, rather than dumping a bunch of theorems and formulas onto you. Also since she actually enjoys teaching, the effort and care put into class designs just feel different compared to some other professors.
Easily, hands down, the best math professor I've ever had! She is extremely kind and caring. She ties her lectures with the homework, and her quizzes are based entirely on the homework, but EASIER. Her lectures take tough concepts and breaks it down so a 5 year old could understand. Her lectures felt more like home than school.
I'm going to preface this by saying that math is definitely not my strong suit - yet Prof. Stevens not only explained all the concepts clearly (and also offered SO MANY office hours to explain more) but also was so enthusiastic about the subject that it motivated me too. Truly one of the best professors I've ever had, definitely the best math prof.
Very helpful and Very caring.
She is still passionate about teaching despite 15 years of doing this. Lectures were interesting and test were based off homework.
She is always well-prepared for class and her goal is to help you understand math. This made her lectures so interesting and useful. The best professor ever.
She was incredibly engaged during lecture, especially considering it was all on zoom. Was always ready to help students, and made sure the TA's were accountable to help students as well. Is strict on filming/proctoring quizzes, but they were always straightforward and correlated with the material of the prior week.
Stevens is fantastic! She really cares about students in the pandemic and is very flexible. Instead of midterms or a final we had small weekly quizzes and a project. She has a strict and unconventional setup for quizzes that requires proctoring and 2 devices but the quizzes are very easy and she explains the material well in lectures.
The easiest math class I've ever taken. Amazing and clear lectures. Professor Stevens is really passionate about teaching and cares about her students a lot. Love her teaching style very much. Easy weekly quizzes as problems were from weekly homework. No midterms and finals. Easy A.
Her teaching is very organized and well presented! She is very enthusiastic and energetic. She encourages everyone to participate in the class. I really like her!
If you have the opportunity to be in Dr. Stevens' class, capitalize on it. She is the greatest teacher/professor I've had, and keeps the material engaging. In an online setting, Dr. Stevens made the impossible possible and made great strides to be communicative with all her students. I wish she taught every class I have to take.
The best professor. She's caring and really engaging. I won't go much into it but she is really good. I took her for 2 classes and loved both. If you can take her, you _have to_ take her. 100% worth it.
Thus far my favorite UCSD math teacher. She gives very thorough explanations. I heard scary things about math 18, but she made these rumors seem like simple rumors to say the least.
Hands down the best math professor at UCSD. Not only is she a genuinely kind and caring person, she has an unbelievable talent for teaching. You'll leave every lecture feeling that you've deeply learned something new. Go to lectures, take time with homework, attend office hours and you'll do very well
Prof. Stevens is one of the best, if not the best math prof at UCSD. Her lectures are engaging and she genuinely cares about her students. Homework and quizzes are reasonable.
Shes such a sweet and passionate professor shes so cute I love her! Her lectures are well organized and really easy to understand! Tests questions are similar to homework. 40% grades for homework and discussion participation, 60% grades for midterm and final. She offers a lot of office hours
The best professor ever! She truly cares for her students and really want us to understand when we ask questions. She always send emails to remind us so youll never get confused. Shes really clear about plans and rubric. Calculators are not allowed for the exam but formula sheets are be provided. Really want to stay in her math class forever!
Professor Stevens is a great teacher, her lectures are easy to follow and she makes lecture interesting. she brings a lot of energy. If you are staying on top of lecture and homework this course will be pretty easy for you.
Absolutely electric atmosphere in her lectures, so so so energetic. Really make sure students understand the material. Not too fast not too slow. If you have a good grasp of the material you should have no problems on the midterm and finals. Gonna say it again, GREAT LECTURES. Take her if you have the chance!!!
just fun
Literally the best math teacher I have ever had. She is always enthusiastic in the lectures and makes them very entertaining. She is able to explain the concepts in a very straightforward manner and provide very nice examples of the materials. I strongly recommend you take her if you can, I wish she could teach the rest of my math classes.
Professor Stevens is the cream of the crop, no doubt about it. You cannot go wrong in choosing her, and she may just be the best professor during your whole college experience. She is fair in her exams and considerate with her assignments, and she clearly cares about her students and their success throughout the class as a whole.
Like others have said, best professor ever. How some people can give her less than five stars is beyond me(probably due to a bad grade lol). She is extremely good at teaching, her lectures are better than organic chem tutors, which for me says a lot. She is also funny, caring, and really guide you every step of the way in hard classes such as 20B.
She is very passionate about teaching and her energy made me more motivated to actually show up to lecture and was actually excited to learn. Her notes were very good and understandable. Her midterms and finals were straightforward and not too difficult. She is very sweet overall and i would recommend everyone to take her class.
Very passionate about what she teaches and sets expectations very well for what she wants the class to know. She presents the content in a very understandable way.
LOVED HER!!!! 100% recommend taking. She is so caring and engaging! Explains everything sooo well and really wants you to succeed! Best math professor at UCSD
She is very approachable. Obviously math isn't a lot of people's favorite subject, but she manages to make it bearable at least, and she offers help outside of class. However, don't expect for the curve to save you because it's possible there will not be one. Overall, I would recommend this teacher.
reviews don't lie, take her if you can. definitely a first pass pick - her sections fill up fast.
She was a fantastic professor and always gave multiple examples of everything she explained, which helped a lot in understanding the subjects. Attendance was not mandatory, but lectures help a lot if you have never had contact with calculus before.
TAKE STEVENS AT ALL COSTS! she is by far the best math professor I've ever had. weekly online homework assignments that are graded for completion, not correctness is a plus. lectures are fun and engaging. be sure to do as many practice problems as you can, the tests are extremely hard if you're not a math genius. very sweet and charismatic!
Prof. Stevens has officially become one of my favorite math teachers ever! She was so wonderful and clear to understand, and was very kind and inspirational, making all of her lectures enjoyable. Attendance wasn't mandatory in LE/DI, but she offered EC at the end of the year if you attended most of the discussions. Would totally take her again!
Am I bad at math? Yes. But did I study my batootie off, go to tutoring, collaborate, go to discussion, etc? Also yes. Luckily I could take this course P/NP so I passed, but oh my god. I am NOT a math major nor do I claim to be, but I performed just below average in a sea of eager freshman straight out of their respective AP Calc courses.
Stevens is by far the best math prof I've had. She explains the steps. She podcasts and posts her lecture notes which is nice. Discussion sections are mandatory unfortunately, but they aren't too helpful. She posts practice midterms and finals that are almost identical to the real ones. If u took AP Calc in high school, this is a very easy class.
I love her teaching style and I wish I could've taken her for 10B !! but I guess a lot of students wanted her as well. She had a great energy in class and it made me excited to learn fr. She always had a warm-up at the beginning of each class as a refresher for the previous lesson and teaches step-by-step so I didn't feel lost. The work was fair.
Professor Stevens is a great professor! I'm currently in MATH10B with another professor wishing I could have had Stevens again! I had her during the fall quarter for MATH10A, she loves math. Stevens is very fair and passionate about what she teaches. I had a little bump in the road late in the quarter and she helped me get through it. 10/10 prof.
Although Stevens lecturing style was high energy compared to what I'm used to, I really enjoyed her. Her lectures were very clear, understandable, and organized. She also encourages asking questions which was helpful. Gives good study guides for exams, and the exams themselves were very fair and pretty easy. Highly recommend.
I love this professor. Her notes are so nicely organized and straightforward, I don't even have to class. Just reading over her notes I was ready to score 100% on the midterms and finals. Of course, that might just be me, but my point is, if you go and listen to her class, you will get the material. Discussion attendance was taken for grade.
Professor Stevens was amazing although the class was pretty difficult. She was so caring and her lectures were so fun to attend. She is a great professor and really cares about the math she's teaching.
good math prof, discussion sections helped a lot
Stevens is an awesome math prof - her lectures are clear and she encourages questions. Use Unstuck study alongside the practice exams to ace this class.
Steven's tends to stamp out curiosity which makes her a very unpleasant teacher.
Caring and passionate professor!! Will gain a new appreciation for math and collaboration after taking this course. Minimal homework, but you must participate in class in small group presentations and at least one presentation in front of the class. Attendance is mandatory with one free pass. Final exam is also fair.
Class extremely easy. Just have to go to seminar every week and do a presentation once during the quarter. Final is the exact same problems that we do during lecture just with different numbers.
