I thought she was a great teacher. I am even changing my major to psychology. She wants students to do well and if you do the work there is no reason why you shouldn't. She has some fun activities. I learned a lot in her class and I will definitely take her again. Her class was my favorite.
She is one of those teachers that think distance learning students should do twice the work than in-class students.
She is the best teacher I have had so far. I decided to switch to psych as a major because of her. I took her online. She has a lot of resources for the students and the assignments are interesting. You have to do the work, but you will learn alot! She was also there to helpand seemed to want students to do well.I will definitely take her again.
She has the most awkward laugh but she's a very fun professor! Her tests are opinion based, however, and are sometimes tricky. She loves the subject that she teaches and is an overall excellent teacher. Pay attention in her class and you're set!
If you want to pass, do not take her. Expect to take your first test on almost 170 pages worth of material in the second week. Our first test was literally on Chp 1-4. Thats over 200 pages worth of material, I've gotten an A in every class except hers, and I'm in the Nursing program. If you wanna pass dont take her or Bonnie Dennis.
This class was tough to begin with. Very overwhelming, but I stuck it out and it did get better. She expects alot from her students (especially distant learning students) but works w/ students to see they receive what they have worked for. She has a lot of assignments that can be overwhelming at first, but if you stick it out... itdoes get easier!
I thought her developmental psych class was pretty easy.. all you need to study for tests is what's on the key concepts and terms. Pay attention, do the work. It's really not bad at all.
This professor was okay, I would have to say that were she not to have gotten a little behind on her schedule, I would have got an A. I do have one reservation about this teacher, her textbook use is far beyond extreme. If you want to pass this class, look at your psych book, and plan on reading it from front to back, every page. good luck
Decent teacher. Can be extremely awkward though and starts wearing on your nerves pretty quickly. A few big projects towards the end of the year that can be easily passed if you just read the requirements. LOTS of extra credit opportunity's and you don't have to take the final if you have an A.
I had her for an online class. She's made some great handouts and is real patient. If you read the assignments, they tell you everything expected (also has a detailed, long syllabus)you have to study (not a blow off class), but isn't that why we are in school? great teacher - definitely recommend. You WILL learn something.
I took Principles of Psychology from her. Easy class, terrible teacher. Tyrannical when she gets angry, and she does. Makes you feel very small. Never, -ever- gets things back to you on time. You can take a test early on and, three tests later, have not have gotten it back. But, if you study, you can pass. Also nice because an A = no final.
Cares about students, cares about teaching, wants students to do well.Excellent teacher,has some really good materials. Doesn't just lecture. You do have to study, but she has these terms sheets to help you know what to study. Planning on taking her again next semester.
Great class if need your hand held to do well. I felt she lost control of her class too often. I often felt like I was attending a meeting more than a lecture. Great person however, she always encourages students to contact her if they need anything. She loves what she does.
DO NOT take her class!! you will do SO MUCH WORK!! It never lets up.

She is very knowledgable of her subject.Also gives extra credit opportunities.Unfortunately she thinks her class is the only class that exist.Her test are very tricky. Also, she likes you or she doesn't, yes she is bias. Her laugh is annoying and she likes to belittle you if you challenge a comment she does not agree to.
the workload in this class NEVER lets up!!!! shes really nice, but its tons of reading, very time consuming. take this class when you have a light semester bc its tons of time
She's great at what she does. She tends to get off track a little and just recently she handed out a packet and the weekend before our test she went over it with us and expected the class to know everything within 3 days. She tends to be little you, if your opinion doesn't go with hers, then you don't matter. Won't take her again.
Terrible, was in her distance learning class and she told me to remove my self from the class because it involved to much on campus and around town work. How is it distance learning then!? I am military and have moved away but was trying to attend my home collece and she was the only professor who refused to accommodate me.
Worst teacher EVER, how is she still teaching? She goes over very little of what's on the test. Some of the questions aren't even gone over or even in the book. She actively tries to fail everyone. I devote all my time to this class to try & compensate for her never-ending trick questions and other classes are suffering because of it. DO NOT TAKE!
Ms.Vasiliauskas, loves helping students. I found as a returning student, she was very helpful. You must place an effort in this class. Should you take responsibility and place effect into this class you will pass. Do the work, complete the extra credit, study for the tests and you could walk away with an ?A?.
HORRIBLE INSTRUCTOR! I?m taking class via distance learning and it consumes all of my time and interferes with my other classes. Organization is virtually nonexistent. You have to searched for and decipher every assignment. Stay far away! Choose another teacher!
I took Intro to Psych online. She doesn?t clearly communicate or post assignments, give feedback or stay on top of grading. She does not post assignments with regard to due date. Her disorganized, unclear manner of teaching leaches any enthusiasm you may have for the class.
She's very irresponsible. She doesn't keep up with assignments and her teachings aren't very good. avoid her at all costs.
I am currently failing her class. She is the WORST teacher i have ever had in my entire life. She is soooo unorgnized. She has no idea what shes doing. she gets losts in rants. Im almost fully convinced she likes making her class impossible. Why else would she give 5 progects due in the same week. I HATE HER...
I like how she teaches. She has handouts, a sheet with terms you need to know,gives lots of examples, makes us come up with examples. I learned a lot. If you think you can just sit back and do nothing like in some classes,you may not like her, but she is a great teacher. Put some time and effort in to the class, go to class, listen, participate.
Second class with her - great teacher. She is clear and knows her stuff. Brings in experience from psych jobs as well as knowing how to teach. Class acitivities are fun and help you learn what you are reading about - yes, you have to study, but isn't that why we are here? I will take her again!
Took 3 classes with her - awesome teacher. Anyone who thinks she is not clear does not use the tools she gives you. Makes class fun too, but you learn a lot. Will be taking her again.
I have taken 3 classes with her and two with another instructor - I really like Miss V's way of teaching. Sh is smart and makes you feel your comments count in class. She is funny - sometimes in a quirky way. She is helpful. She also reviews a lot, but you have to read and study. I highly recommend her.
She can be rude. She is not a hands on person when it comes down to getting clarity!!! She expect you to know it already... Uses book like a bible. Has ridiculous theories! Horrible laugh and says "um-Kay" after every sentence.
I really learned a lot from this teacher. She has and does a lot of things to help students like reviews material at the beginning of class, study guides she made, fun activities. Nice teacher, funny, knowledgable AND I learned a lot!
LORA V. IS AMAZING! I can assure you that if you are willing to do the work (and there is A LOT) you will come out of it with a working knowledge of all of the material covered. I know her class seems like a lot, but she offers more extra credit than any class I've had. Generally one of the best professors I've ever had IF you are willing to work!
I took this course online and although it seemed like a lot of work at first. However, once I got into the swing of things it became easier. The discussions/activities were fun and helped boost your grade. Tests were not bad. She was also very helpful and responded to emails quickly. I would recommend her if you plan on taking this course online!
She is AWFUL and when I say that, I mean it. I have never had a teacher care less about the class/people. I took her class online. First she doesn't keep on track with what the syllabus says you are supposed to do so you don't know what to do, then when you email her to find out what to do she NEVER emails back.
This was a great class. The instructor's assignments were set up to help us learn the material. She also has a lot of things to help you study and understand material. I was suprised how much I learned in this format. She made the class interest. She responded to calls and emails quickly. I plan to take another class from her in any format.
She was a great teacher at the beginning of the class. Tests were easy until the end when they moved to online. It is difficult to ask questions because she tends to have an attitude and you don't receive much feedback. She takes forever to grade suff too...On a + note, She made most material understandable and "Lora's Lessons" helped a bit.
She does kinda have an attitude against students who are not enthusiastic about Psychology. She spends a lot of time in class talking about trivial stuff. All this trivial stuff won't help much on the test. Class could be over a lot sooner if she just gets straight to point and tell us what will be on the test. Harder than what it needs to be.
Phenomenal instructor! Did not understand at first why she did not make all her disc. boards available so we could work far ahead if we had time. What I realized is she has things set up so material builds on previous material with intention. I learned a lot. Definitely plan to take her again.I met her in person;she is very knowledgable &helpful
She teaches in a way that really makes you learn and understand the material. Her assignments are interesting, fun and help you realize how much you have learned.
She gives an attitude to people who are not enthusiastic about her class. She can be rude sometimes. She talks about a lot of trivial stuff in class. It's frustrating because her test covers a lot of material, meaning more work outside of her class.
One of my best teachers. She is smart and teaches well. Gives good study materials, clear about what she expects you to know, fun activities and ways of doing things that help you learn without realizing it. Not a give-me class, but clear. you will learn a lot if you go to class, do your work and use the materials she gives. Love the class
HORRIBLE class! Coming to class was pointless; it was a free therapy session for two girls in the class to talk about their PERSONAL issues. I never learned anything relevant in class, only by reading the book on my own. She also feels like her class is more important than ANYTHING else in your life, and will be quick to have an ugly attitude.
I thought she was great. She really works with students. She is VERY knowledgable but doesn't teach down to students. I thought her course was easy because I used the handouts and I pay attention in class-if you don't study, you will probably find the class hard because it covers a lot of material. Assignments and classes are interesting and fun
Very knowledgable and very helpful. Gives you materials to help in addition to the book. Fun activities - sometimes in groups, some individual. Explains things in a way you can understand the material. Highly recommend.
What an amazing teacher. She really helped me this summer after being gone for a semester. She was very straight forward with her work and very knowledgable. I hope to have her for another psych course. It also helped she is my academic advisor
The is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had at virginia western. She makes it impossible to pass her tests (super tough). You would think teachers want you to pass and do well, well not with her. She give you a million a assignments to do and you would think they would be not that difficult, um no they are very time consuming and hard!!!!!!!!
She is the head of the Psychology department, so she usually knows what she is talking about. She gives extra credit for not missing any classes, but she also takes off from your final grade if you miss more than three. I never did the reading and still made an A. She gives out lots of assignments, but her class really isn't hard.
She is knowledgeable, understanding and cares. What more could you want from someone who is there to help you learn? You do need to put in some effort because she uses discussion at times. If you do not learn anything or you do not pass, YOU did not do anything. Her in class activities, assignments and papers are actually fun, too.
Well, I would not describe her as horrible but she doesn't have any sense of time. She keeps telling you that your grade comes by... or Earlier but it has been like 3 weeks and still nothing. A lot of promises. Online class wasn't bad but group work during an online class is weird.
I will definitely take more classes from Ms. V. She is clear, funny, knows the subject and is willing to help. Her assignments are fun, too. She has clear expectations that are in her syllabus and schedule including how she grades. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. Definitely recommended!
One of the best teachers I have had. I learned a lot and the classes were interesting. Even the homework was fun. I highly recommend her and I will be taking her again.
Withdrew from Bonnie Dennis' class, tried out Mrs. V's class, and I actually really liked it. She does make you work a little, but she is cool and the workload is not too intense. I love how she gives you test review sheets with key terms/etc. We even got to use open book/index cards a couple times. One dropped exam means no final if you have an A!
As an online class she teaches 0! You read chapters, she provides no lectures. Test are super tough with confusing questions. Gives a ton of mindless writing assignments so she doesn't have to do anything. Super unorganized. Doesn't follow her syllabus or even provide one initially.
I have taken Lora twice once as a lecture professor and currently as an online professor, and I can honestly say that you are better off taking her as a lecture professor. Her online class is far more demanding with multiple assignments that are very time consuming, and she doesn't do a great job of keeping up with the class

While she is a nice person, she was extremely disorganized which came to be very frustrating. You are responsible for learning most of the things yourself; she maybe gave 2 lectures the whole year. I wasn't a fan of psychology before, and I'm still not.
very knowledgable and you she seems to love teaching and psychology which made me want to learn more and do well. Responds to email and is often in her office and available to students. Her expectations make you want to do well. She is able to explain things in a way that makes it easy to understand and her handouts that she made a great!
This class is absurdly heavy on homework and relies on you having discussions with your peers. If you do not have a full 8-12 hours a week to devote to reading the material, writing unit reviews, and stalking the boards to make sure nothing new has been posted assignment wise, take a different class. The teacher is knowledgeable and pleasant.
She is incredibly disorganized, she constantly makes spelling and grammar errors in everything she writes (she even misspells her own name), she takes forever to grade anything, and she takes forever to respond, if she deems you worthy of a response, that is. As if all this wasn't bad enough, her grading is largely arbitrary. Stay far away!
After several weeks I began to notice that her "lectures" were becoming a time for her and certain student to discuss life problems and go off topic. She is a nice person but belittles you when you have questions although she is never clear on instructions. She doesn't lecture on majority of the information needed for tests so most is self-taught.
Her lectures are basically her sitting at the front of the class and talking. Sometimes she writes on the board. She managed to make an interesting class very boring. She has an irritating laugh and that is distracting during lectures. If you point out her mistakes, she will blame you.

To be honest, she is very nice! she cares about every student but is an unorganized teacher and takes forever to grade things!! she says the word "okay" about a thousand times in class and gets off topic very easily. However, her class is not hard! she gives a lot of extra credit and tests are either online, or they are group tests. recommend
She is very knowledgeable and willing to help. I took her for psy 200 and 230 and plan to take her again. I have had her in class and online. Did not think I would like the online class, but she really helped make it work well and even fun. I learned a lot. Her assignments helped me learn, not just busy work and helps you learn, too. Recommend!
Mrs. V is rude and I had horrible experience. She will belittle you in front of the entire class. Her tests include individual and group tests, and online tests. Her class wasnt hard but her lecture are terrible, you're basically learning on your own. Takes forever to grade and is annoying. She will say okay and laugh 20 times in a class.
Ms. V is a very bad teacher. I'd say she's one of the worst I've ever had without hesitation. She is extremely unorganized. She says she will have your tests graded by the next class, but won't actually have them graded until the following week (if you're lucky). She laughs at everything she says and says "mmmkay" after making each point, not fun
Uses class to explain her own personal issues, and experiences. Ms. V spouts her annoying laugh after every story or saying and says mmkay after every laugh. Continually puts off grading, and depends on students in the class to create tests, and bonus questions. Sits down the entire class. Puts students into groups so that we teach ourselves. mkay
Disorganized in her stuff, wasnt fun to have to sit through for over an hour, the tests are very hard and she rarely actually goes over the information that will be on the tests. Self teach yourself if you wanna pass.
I have taken her for several classes. If I could, I would take her for more. Her assignments really help you learn the material. She provides good study materials that help you understand some harder things and to help you know what to study. Very organized. She won't just hand you a grade. I learned a LOT.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. you are better off reading a psychology textbook on your own than you are wasting money with this class. To give an example the end of the semester is next week and she has yet to grade even a third the mass amounts of items she has assigned.

She wasnt the worst teacher Ive ever had. She was really bad about grading assignments though. We didnt know our actual grade until after the class ended because she just never graded our assignments. I didnt read the textbook and only used the internet or Loras lessons she provided. There are a lot of assignments though and some are hard.
This is such an interesting class. While there are a lot of discussion boards and some other projects, you really learn from the questions the instructor asks you to focus on. Provides some helpful materials as well and is so quick to respond when you have questions.
She is a very knowledgable professor. Answered emails fast. Made herself available with optional zoom sessions several times during the semester. I learned a lot. The assignments, if you do them right, make you learn the materials. She also has a lot of learning tools (Lora's Lessons are awesome) to help you learn if you take advantage of them
Do not take an online class with this professor, especially if it's your first semester. She is unclear on instructions and due dates. Did not respond to any emails the entire semester. She also waited until the last week of the semester to grade 90% of my assignments.

Clearly Ms. V is a very sweet person who cares a lot about her students, however her class was more stressful than it needed to be. Her instructions can be unclear, and feedback/grades are given so late that there is no time to improve (wk7 of my 10wk course). Finish the response paper journals early so you're not slammed at the end of the year.
I have taken several classes with this professor. Her assignments help you learn the subject and make it relevant to you and your career or degree. Do not simply agree with others when replying. That 'adding more' what part is what made the class so interesting and allowed me to explore things I was interested in and wanted to dive in deeper.
I hated everything about this class. Instructions were never clear, assignments were very inconsistent, ridiculous discussion board rules, and an awful class project that more than half the group didn't even participate in which caused those who did participate extra work to make up the difference. I was never happier to end a class.
Ms V wants her students to do well and even gives students a chance to improve/make up some of the assignments. Everything is very clear and the course is set up so that it is easy to follow. You do have to do the work, though. I really enjoyed the case studies and journal. If you put in effort, you will learn. Not a class for a slacker.
The lady should be fired immediately in my opinion. It's now may 15. our last exam was at the beginning of may marking the end of the class. she hasn't graded any of my assignments since February! no feedback all semester on how to correct what she felt was flawed. I had an A before she randomly gave me half credit on 2 assignments and dipped lmao
I loved this class. As others have said, she provides a lot of information that will help on tests and help you learn the material. She always answered emails quickly and answered questions when I had them. She is very knowledgeable. If you call or talk with her, she is very engaging and her posts in the discussion board informative.
She does not post her assignments on time ever, does not communicate, does not teach at all. I'm not trying to be disrespectful. It's just hard to meet deadlines when the materials aren't available, and it's starting to feel like we're not getting the structure and support we signed up for.
There weren't many instances that made me less than pleased with her class and lectures. It's very reading and participation-heavy course, but she is kind overall and I enjoyed the lectures. The workload can get pretty stressful, though, so go in prepared for lots of studying!
