The best English teacher I have ever had. She really tries hard to get the students to succeed. I totally recommend her.

Dr. Wheeler is a great professor. The class is not easy as people expected, but you will learn something before you leave the class. I know I did.

After taking several courses with this instructor and having moved on to a University, I can say hands down that she has been the best professor I've had the pleasure to learn from. It's a shame that students are deprived of taking upper division courses with her guidance.

This instructor is arguably one of the best in the entire school. She teaches lower division courses, but nothing compares to her honors class. She is always willing to help students, and her understanding of literature is unequaled. If you want to learn, take her.

Hi Dr. Wheeler, why am I here? I can't explain it myself because it's 12:43am, and I'm suppose to be studying. hm.. I think the students here would want me to evaluate you. I guess she's a great teacher. She's definitely hyper at times. 10/10 times she's never mad; you do the math, unless you plagiarize. If you do, you're going to hell anyways.

Everyone coincides on how energetic Dr. Wheeler is, but nobody mentioned how professional and motivational her classes are. She truly makes you love the subject and prompts you to explore new areas in the field. She makes you see that any idea can become a strong argument if you learn to support it critically. My favorite professor at LBCC!

Dr. Wheeler's awesome! I love her! Im not going to lie though, it was a tough class; a lot harder than expected. I tried so hard at the beginning of the course and couldnt get an A, but I got one in the end(attendance helped out). Shes always willing to help & offers rationale & interesting insight to everything. Very knowledgable; a must take.

Dr. Wheeler is an awesome professor! An asset to LBCC. She cultivates a good rapport with the class. You can tell she's interested in the success of students by the well-developed personalized feedback she gives when grading assignments. I LOVE DR. WHEELER!! She is THE best English professor I have had, hands down. She always laughs and cracks jokes, but gets right to the point when it comes to the class material. I would take another English class with her, if possible! If you get the chance to take a class of hers, do it!!

If you don't,you will never know what an intransitive verb is, or how to properly use who/whom when writing an essay(lol). On the more serious side, if you don't take her class, you will be at high risk for suicide, because editing an essay is very stressful.

Wow! Dr. Wheeler is a powerhouse teacher. She maintains an outgoing, yet professional demeanor with her students. Anything she teaches, she is always willing to explain and backs up with a reading/handout to help you understand the concept. Do all of her assignments, go to class, listen and you should get a good grade.

YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS DISCUSSION IF YOU WANT AN "A"! that's pretty much all British lit is. do the reading with a critical eye, try to get a word-in in class, make sure to double check your paper for grammatical errors, and there should be no reason that you shouldn't get an "A" in this class. she's funny, clear, and really helpful.

She rules! Her class was easy, funny, and insightful. She is easy to talk to. She'll happily answer your questions. She is definitely one of the best professors I've ever had.

She's a very energetic professor and makes a boring subject somewhat interesting. At least for grammar class, I would recommend her, but not like you get a choice. Don't be late because she checks homework at the very beginning of class.

I took her 24, college grammar, 43, Shakespeare, and 46, Brit. Lit. She is amazing. She is funny and really tries to make the class interesting. She brings in videos and cartoons and stuff--it's great. I learned a TON and would take more of her classes if I hadn't already taken them all. She is one of the BEST teachers at LBCC.

Great Teacher. She made long essay become easier to write. Her choice of textbook is pretty good. The only thing is that she take attendence in the beginning of class, so don't be late.

Second time taking her and I would take her again if I could. One of the best professors at LBCC. She's a tough grader, but she offers a lot of help, so you will become a better writer. There's a lot of reading and writing, but that's understandable, considering it's a lit class.

Dr. Wheeler is amazing! She knows her stuff and makes class fun. Always provides the background of the texts we are covering and interesting fun facts. Reading load is fairly light and her essays are pretty easy. However, she doesn't hand out easy A's.

One of best prof's ever had! 3 major essays (100 pts ea), approx 10-12 smaller ones (10 pts ea) No tests/quizzes. 1 15 min presentation. Final is 3rd lg essay. Reading is challenging but interesting; prof has great sense of humor, adds to depth of understanding w/addt'l mat'ls (videos,handouts,etc). Must have textbook to pass class (not on reserve)

One of the best professors I have had at LBCC. Dr. Wheeler is extremely helpful, funny, and interesting. Grammar tests, homework, and portfolio assignments were fairly easy. The essays weren't bad either. She is a very fair and helpful grader. I came into the class very anxious, but I left feeling confident about writing. Take her!

She's funny and her readings are fun and insightful. The work wasn't too challenging which was a bummer. Be warned, though, as she's pretty hot and it can be distracting.

Dr. Wheeler has a deep understanding of literature, and is great at intriguing her students. I learned so much! All texts we read were interesting, and all assignments felt purposeful. If you put effort in to the assignments and show up to class, you will be fine. She is also very accessible, and sincere in wanting her students to succeed.

Her class can be easy or it can be hard, it depends on how much attention you pay in class and if you are really listening. It helps to go to each class meeting and she knows what she wants from her students for the assignments she gives. Do NOT procrastinate, do the assignments ASAP! Generally a simple class but you have to put effort for ur grade

Simple grammar exercises and read a short essay for HW. Her lectures are informative and entertaining. Take her class! You wont reget it.

Dr. Laura Scavuzzo Wheeler was the first teacher I encountered who approached me after reading an essay to commend me for my writing style. She wrote me a recommendation letter for the Honors program, and she has a contagious vibrant personality. Her teaching is energetic, lively, and professional. I appreciate professors like her at LBCC. :)

Dr. Wheeler is incredible. She's always so energetic and so happy that she makes you happy. She's easy to talk to, has an awesome sense of humor, and is just all-around fantastic. Her grading is not too bad, either. Just read the poems, show up for class, and participate. AND study! But this is college, so that should be expected.

She's the kind of teacher that's eager to teach if you're willing to learn and DO the work. She's passionate about what she does. If you don't do the reading assignments, it leads you doing poorly on your essays. I highly recommend you take her class if you REALLY want to learn grammar. This class is easy, great ungoing discussions and not too many papers to hand in. The lectures are really interesting, she is very intelligent and literate. Only 2 research paper and 5 response paper. Participation points matter, very respected by students. Take her class if you want to learn something!!

Sweet and funny, she's the type of English professor everyone wants to take. She gives the best feedback and I enjoyed meeting with her in her office hours way more than being in her classroom. She loves to talk with her students and she's more than willing to proofread your paper before submission. If you have the privilege to take her, do it.

Dr. Wheeler is simply the best. She really delves into topics and embraces complex issues. Her teaching style is very up-beat and pragmatic. She will have you laughing all class period long with her personal stories; she relates them to her lectures. If you have the chance to take her class, TAKE IT. She is also very HOT.

Dr. Wheeler is great! Went into this class not being too interested, but ended up loving it. Show up EVERY DAY, reading quizzes based on the reading assigned, tests are half matching, half whole essay. Some of the lit is diff. to understand but she helps clear it up. Loved this class. I was a little more interested in it because I am an english major but even if I wasn't she makes you love it. She inspires her students to learn and you are able to ask her any question. Extra credit included bringing in grammatical errors that you found anywhere in your everyday life. She teaches both British Lits (46,47), both Shakespeare's (43a & b), college grammar (24) and composition and rhetoric (3). She's super nice and approachable. Go to her office hours; she is friendly and very informative.

What a pleasure to learn from such an intelligent person, I could not be more appreciative to have her as a teacher. Dr. Wheeler is AMAZING! She truly cares about her students' education. I took ENG24 as a recommendation from my counselor. I would advise anyone who has trouble writing to take her class because it helps so much. My writing skills improved drastically. You have to go to class to pass. She is an amazing INSTRUCTOR.

Professor Wheeler is one of the best! I took her for English 3H and she was very helpful and clear on what she expected from the class. Visiting her office hours is a good way to get the one on one that some may need. There were two 7-10 page essays and a bunch of article response base writing so just be ready to work.

Doc. Wheeler is incredible? I just finished her Engl 43A class and its's mostly a discussion based class. Read and participate and you'll do fine. Her essay grading was a little confusing but she really explains what you need to improve on. Would take again and she's gorgeous??

Her honors English class was a joy to attend. The lectures were mostly discussion, making it all very thought provoking and fun. The class is reading and writing heavy, so stay on top of it. Laura is a passionate educator and it shows in her classroom. Super good professor, take the class!

Prof Wheeler uses a lot of discussions in class rather than lectures. She is funny and is not afraid to speak her mind. She makes the class entertaining and makes you think. This is an honors class so expect a heavy load of reading and writing assignments. Laura is honestly one of my favorite English professors because she's hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. She does make you work for an A but I highly recommend her because she teaches how to perceive things differently as a writer.

So I took both her Brit lit classes and honestly loved them. Since it's a literature class you are required to read and she does assign weekly quizzes which make up a large portion of your grade. Her lectures are fantastic, super insightful but be prepared to take lots of notes or post its about the content you've read for midterm/final + 2 essays

She's one of those once-in-a-lifetime teachers. She's brilliant and explains things so that you really understand them. You will have a solid understanding of the literature after her class. Class is mostly discussion but it's always interesting and lively because she's hilarious and knows how to get people talking. Take her, you won't regret it!

She is not clear on what she expects on small assignments but she is on the research papers. The best thing to do for her class is approch her as much as you can to clear things up, she is always available to her students. The class is challenging if you are not into writing.

Lots of writing. She gives good feedback on essays so at least you know it was worth it. Good class discussions and interesting readings. She is hard but you will learn things.

Professor Wheeler the most proficient professor you could have for college grammar. She is very thorough and clear. Homework is given after every class period - for your personal benefit to learn and grow. Great study material for every test. You won't regret taking her! Only had 4 main tests throughout 1 semester worth.

This class was pure magic! A lot of reading/analyzing but she picks incredible pieces! She has helped me grow as a writer & as a critical thinker: encourages analysis on current events, & teaches you how to analyze, annotate, & create a working thesis. Attend office hours often & dont be tardy! Caring & funny. I wish I could take all her classes!

She is a great teacher! They should clone her! She is totally aware of her students and if she senses if you are having problems and she addresses it. All you have to do is come to class, do the lessons and listen and you will pass her classes.

Challenging class for sure. She gives incredible feedback on all assignments and papers. Attendance heavy. It took me some time to learn the Method. My class was a quiet one and discussions were boring at times. I loved the readings, but I wish she would spice up the class somehow. She is accessible, respectable, and concise with grade criteria.

She also encourages her students to grow as writers by introducing the class to intriguing readings as well as useful and often hard-to-grasp skills required for detailed analysis. Grammar is a boring subject. Not with Professor Wheeler. She adds so much personality to the class that it's kinda hard to ignore. Her lectures were presented clearly and graded fairly. Do the homework, it will help you tremendously. The class consisted of 4 exams plus homework.

I could literally go on forever about how lovely Dr. Scavuzzo Wheeler is but I will try my best to keep this short. I've taken just about every class she teaches at LBCC and I am a better student for it. All of her classes are discussion based and she does an amazing job at keeping you engaged. I took English 3H with Dr. Scavuzzo Wheeler many semester ago, however, after continuing on with my education I have come to realize how much this class has prepared me for all the classes I have taken since. Laura Wheeler is one of the best at LBCC. It truly feels like you are receiving an Ivy League quality education in her class.

I was initially intimidated by the British lit course and the older variants of English, but Dr. Wheeler made the literature super accessible through her robust and insightful knowledge of Medieval and Renaissance literature and their surrounding contexts. There are daily reading quizzes due before class, so make sure you're doing all the readings!

The class was challenging and there were times I felt very discouraged but I definitely came out of it a much better writer. The readings were interesting, you get to select your essay topics for the two research papers, and she was always accessible after class. The feedback she gave on writing assignments was invaluable. Participation matters!!!

The discussions we had were very valuable to me. I participated often, there was time and opportunity for all to participate. On both of the essays, I did not receive the grade I wanted, I did get the grade I deserved. Participation saved me. Take this class if you're ready to be a responsible adult, with w/real-world experience. Not for crybabies.

I enjoyed this class! It was really challenging for me because it was a lot of information to take in at one time, but I was fortunate to sit and talk with Dr. Wheeler so she could help me understand the curriculum better. I'm not a huge fan of English, but she did help me become better at it as well as increasing my ability in writing essays

Knows her subject intimately, gives excellent lectures with student participation invited at all times. A lot of reading, tests are difficult sometimes, but you cover a lot of ground and walk away with plenty of new knowledge and the ability to analyze and compare authors throughout the centuries. Also, you don't have to worry about buying a textbook. She provides the textbook for the grammar class and importantly, attendance does matter. There are 3 exams and 1 final exam.

One of the best Prof. at LBCC. Funny, super smart and passionate about Literature. Made even the toughest readings super interesting to discuss. Stay on top of the readings or you will fall behind for the midterm/quizzes. Would recommend her to anyone taking an English class at LBCC, ESPECIALLY if you're an ENGL major. She rocks!

Professor Wheeler's grammar class is interesting and fun. She wrote the course textbook (I've read a lot of grammar books and they all pale by comparison) and clearly explains grammar rules with lots of examples and in-class exercises. Highly recommended to take this class in person so that you can get the full benefit of her instruction.

Prof. Wheeler makes even tough literature engaging. Stay on top of readings or you'll fall behind. Unstuck study was super helpful for quiz prep alongside the textbook.

Professor Scavuzzo is such a wonderful teacher. You can tell she is passionate and knowledgeable in her profession. She made the class discussions super fun and created a welcoming environment. It may be easy to miss her class but the discussions are something I would highly recommend to join, super insightful. Easy assignments and fun readings.

One of my favorite professors I've had, awesome lectures, very personable. Has lots of knowledge that pertains to linguistics, culture, and can connect it back to grammar with ease.

Amazing prof and makes the discussion fun despite (some) long readings. We tend to go off topic and she makes the class feel like it's not long. She does her best by simplifying discussions and notes. Stay on top of your work though it's easy to fall behind on the assignments. She's intelligent in literature, relatable and understanding too!

Dr. Wheeler's Renaissance specialty shows up here: texts can be difficult; she makes them clear. Old school lecture style (love it!) with many invitations for participation. If no one responds, she turns to the text in detail. Good training for textual analysis in any context! She's also funny & tells good stories; friendly & welcoming to students.
