she is the worst teacher...doesnt help whatsoever...do not take
She does not explain anything and she is the worst math teacher in the whole math department at Santa Fe. She thinks that she is good but she is the worst.
She is not very nice even though she seems so at first, she's anal about attendance, she is soooo unhelpful if you need it, kind of hard.
What is up with these comments? She is very nice and extremely helpful. Kind of a stickler about attendance though. I can't think of a bad thing to say about her
Awesome teacher. Very friendly and breaks things down to make them understandable. I don't think you can find a better math teacher at SFCC.
What is up with these comments? Mrs. Y is awesome! She totally goes the extra-mile for students, she really wants to help you pass the class, but also to really understand math! I would definitly suggest her. (Don't mess with her, but take her.)
What can I say TRY! You might fail or pass up to the teacher
statistics is a very hard class...either you get it or you don't...but mrs. younts is a pretty good teacher, had her for college algebra and she was very good...not as good in stats tho
She is not nice and very unhelpful.
She's a great teacher. Doesn't collect homework, but answers every question. I got an A
good teacher, plus cute
I took her online course and enjoyed it a lot. You're required to teach yourself but she made it as easy as possible.
Horrible teacher dont take her not worth the time counts attendance not good at explaining things very unhelpful when it comes to homework grades extremely hard steer clear from this one!!!!
**** twards males! good luck guys.
NOT helpful.Very strict about attendance, didn't want 2 take my hw because I was late after goin 2 the dr, even after writing her an email telling her that before it happened!Labs are confusing, and makes you work with partners a lot.Not lenient on grading hw or tests, takes pts off 4 any little thing
This lady is evil, she wont help you at all. I had a family emergency and she didn't let me make anything up. DO NOT TAKE HER!
EVIL!!!
she's nice as long as you're smart and don't need help. She yells at you like crazy if you talk during class. She's got ADHD. She's not easy by any means!
Stay on top of the homework or else you will fail with flying colors. She's very picky on her test and will give you a considerable amount of points off if you make one tiny error. Take her with caution.
She's overly picky on tests, assumes way too much when she asks questions, and expects you to write out your answers like you are already a professional statitician. Do not take this teacher!
BAD, very very BAD!!!!!!!! dont take this woman worst teacher on this planet!!
yikes, i thought i was good at math until i took this class and totally lost my barrings. wtf? i had to drop, she is not a very good teacher.
If she's the only teacher available for any math, just don't take the course. She's not helpful and makes you feel stupid when you ask her a question about a problem you don't understand. Please, at any cost avoid taking a course with her.
She was very helpful and ended up saving my butt in the end. She is one of the nicest teachers I've ever had and she does care about her students doing well. The last thing you want to do is to disrespect her in any little way, other than that you are fine! Remeber to be sweet!
Do all of your homework and don't miss class and you will be fine! An A is probably rare but with homework and good labs you will be fine. She does not like for students to talk when she is and gets mad when it happens. If you take the time to ask ?'s or meet with her after class, very helpful.
She is nice but at the same time she is a real ****. She is boring as****
extremely stringent with grading. Takes off alot of points for little things, i.e answers different by two places after decimals. Very unapproachable. Make sure you attend all her classes coz she throws in graded assignments without warning and if you miss them she don't care;there is no make up.
She seems too rushed in class. She can't seem to stop and explain when a student doesn't understand a topic. Very tough on grading. I would not take any other classes she teaches.
very rushed will not help you very picky on grading very easy not to pass cause of grading and pop quizes would not recommend
I got an a in her class, you have to put a lot of time into your work and go to every class
she is very enthusiastic, and knows her stuff. she is a little bit hard on grading her tests but she explains things very well in class. strict on attendance but overall a fair teacher. gives good review problems and will explain in spare time. the people doing bad are the people who suck in math.
SHe is a very unprofessional teacher. And she doest't present material effectively.
She is ridiculous. This teacher can't answer questions you have for her and just plain sucks d.
She knows what she's talking about, but I think she could explain it a little better. She speeds through everything and gives us little time to comprehend what she's talking about.
Extremely difficult. Unclear. Way too rushed, there's never enought time for one topic. Not available to help. I feel like stats could have been a lot easier than she made it. She seems very sweet and pleasant, but...well, just don't take her
she knows the material very well. She only explains a couple practive problems though, and doesnt teach much. Very hard class. You have to be exact on your answers down to the exact detail in the answer for you to get the question right. I did all the homework, studied all the time, went to her for help, and I still didnt do good in the class.
I had Laura Younts for Calculus 1. I should tell you that at first I thought it will be hard for me. However, after the first exam, I saw that I just needed to do what I had to. And with her help and website information I ace the class. And I will recommend you taking this class if you want to.
She is a very nice lady. The class is medium. Some parts are kinda hard, others are not too bad. I think she is a very good teacher. Very clear to understand and willing to help. She made the class a little easier.
Horrible teacher.
Great teacher! Does a wonderful job of teaching. Very organized and makes the classes very interesting. I learnt a lot. If you want easy grade, dont take this course. If you love math and want to learn Statistics, she is the best teacher.
Great math teacher. She teaches well.
mean, hard, non helpful. DON'T TAKE HER !!!!!!!!
This teacher is gooood! If you are a slacker DO NOT TAKE HER AS A TEACHER! she will bust your butt and make you work hard. If you show her you dont have interest in her class she WILL NOT have any interest in you. She teaches awesome she's very good at explaining everything detail by detail. I recommend her!!
Show up for class, listen, and you will pass. You don't have to do the homework, she never grades it. She just wants you to do it to get familiar with the formulas.A great teacher. I stink at math and still ended with a B
hard class. not a very good teacher. you have to attend class every single time to keep up. so many labs. i just don't recommend her at all.
Excellent Teacher if you NEED stats and need to know it. Will make you learn it all. VERY organized. If you never will use stats and just need a good grade find an easy teacher.
hard class do the homework it will help you prepare for the test.
She does not break down the materials very well and does not care about her students. I do not recommend this teacher at all. Stay clear by all means!!
very rude. doesnt care about students.
I don't understand the hate for this woman. She's a solid teacher who expects you all to work. I took her class, she is a picky grader, but overall, not that bad. I do agree that she's not very approachable though...but not bad and she makes you understand stats. Do the homework!!!
She is very nice, does a lot of practice questions in class so you know what to expect on the exam. You do need to do the assigned HW, it will give you a good grade on the test. Her quizzes are almost the same questions she uses for the test. She is very sweet, helpful and willing to make sure you understand the material.
She was a wonderful techer. She seems kind of quiet but she actually explains things very well. I would definitely take her again for another class. I highly reccomend her. Also your final can replace your lowest test grade and she drops your lowest lab and quiz(all quizes are online). Easy easy! Loved her <3
She knows her stuff, but shes very strict and is not very approachable. You must do your homework to be able to ask her any questions, and even then she's not too helpful. Attendance is absolutely mandatory.
If you aren't a math person then you should find another teacher. She is strict with grading but really knows her stuff. If you need to know stats though then take her, you will learn a lot. If you're good at math like I am, you probably won't have to study much and homework is optional
A hard instructor to work with. Not very helpful and a bit condescending! If you are not a natural math wiz...do NOT take her class!
I thought Intro STats was going to be easy but not with Prof.Younts! She is very clear in class and makes sure you understand, but she is a little unapproachable if you haven't spent a ton of time on homework. Her grading on tests is ridiculous!! She'll mark off for little things! The class is not impossible but watch out for how she grades!
this woman seriously is terrible. if she doesnt like you she will take 1/2 points off all semester until she has ruined your grade. Seriously, she is probably one of the hardest calc teachers... and i love math.
This is definitely a difficult class, but Prof. Younts does a good job of breaking down the material. She is a strict grader, but she is more than willing to help you if you make the effort. After the first test I had a 55 average, but brought that up to a B by the end of the semester. Not a class for those just trying to breeze through.
If you're really good at math then maybe take her, otherwise I'd strongly advise against it. She's just difficult all around and there's not much room for error
She is very hard and her homework and reviews are nothing like the tests. The lab are very hard and she does not help. she thinks you know everything the first day after learning it. she makes test questions to trick you, so be prepared for the hardest question for the test. I am a committed student and very good in math, and had to drop. dont take
Tests are very hard. she is inconsiderate and opinionated. Math is my best subject and i think i have to drop the class. I would not take her b/c her test are nothing like the questions she assigns. Save your time and money and take a diff teacher. her grading is very, very strict and if you haver the right answer a diff way she marks it wrong
Excellent teacher. She is very clear and simple when she teaches but you must attend class to keep up even though it is not mandatory. She is a tough grader but I think that is good cause it makes your work exact ...which how math should be
Very difficult. I am an A student and I have struggled to get a B.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! She is very unapproachable! Always is mad when you ask a question. You can tell that she doesnt want to be there and her test have nothing to do with her lectures. This lady should be FIRED!
Do not Take! she is by far the worst teacher on the planet, her lectures seem okay, and then her test have nothing to do with the lectures, by FAR the worst teacher. Who hired this WOMAN
do not take her, her lectures are easy and she grades like we are in a harvard insititute because of the no half credit points on the test. and her grading scale is wrong do not take her if she is the last teacher left on the planet
This lady is ok, definitely not the best. I would not recommend her at all. You can tell she does not want to be there
i would like to know who accredited her with a teaching degree, worse teacher at sfc
HORRIBLE TEACHER AND A HORRIBLE PERSON
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! She is rude and unhelpful most of the time she will tell you she'll help but will only state the obvious about what you are or arent doing. If your even a minute late shell humiliate you in front of the class. I tried to pop my back during a test once and she accused me of cheating even though i sat next to her desk EVIL
Why is this lady still teaching? She is rude, inconsiderate, immature, selfish, and ****. SFC should fire her immediately
Do NOT take this professor for Statistics. She does not let you have your own note sheet for tests at all, and she is very strict. No extra credit at all and it's only three tests that make up the 50% of your grade, so if you bomb one then you're pretty much screwed. I'm left-handed, great at math, and I am might not even pass this class.
I went into this class without any stats knowledge so I thought I would do terrible. Ms. Younts made the material seem less overwhelming. I thought she was extremely helpful and sweet. Statistics is hard, she knows that. That's why she gave hw. I did the hw and quizzes. That will get you an A. Everybody on here must just be lazy.
I had Mrs. Younts a little bit ago. She is a great teacher. Do not let the previous comments fool you. If you are looking for a bird course then Stats is not the class for you and definately not with her. She explains the material and is always willing to help during office hours. You have to practice by actually doing the homework. You can do it.
Ms. Younts is an ok teacher. She knows her stuff but she is out right rude and does not care about individual students until she makes you cry. If you have difficulty, do not go to her with your questions. The only thing her class is based upon are the tests and 5% - quizzes. No points for homework. If you do bad on one quiz your introuble!
You have to go to class to do well. Pay attention and take notes, She clearly explains everything and will answer any questions you have. The tests are not easy, but if you do the homework and take notes on her examples from the board you will do well on the tests. She is a very good stat teacher and very helpful.
Horrible teacher! No, help at all during office hours. Has no sympathy for her students. arghhh! Save your self some time and take someone else who actually cares about their students. The good comments are from her FAVORITE STUDENTS!!
3 tests and the final. Final exam replaces lowest test if higher. #1 complaint is that she takes of arbitrary amounts of points on tests. You lose 6 of 8 points for not putting a $ sign. There were no multiple choice questions on her tests, which is fine, except she wrote the final and half of it was multiple choice. Not THAT bad though.
First semester in college & I did great in Math! Prof. Younts is a great teacher always smiling. She very clearly explains & will answer any question. Attend class take some notes & everything is fine. She makes the tests hard so that the Final will not be a shocker. Drops a few lowest quiz, hw & handout grades. Final replaces lowest test grade :)
She is a good teacher. She'll go over things as many times as you need and stop and give you extra help if you need it during group work. I don't like how much she required MyMathLab. If she isn't clear about something she will almost always go over it again. She doesn't give too much work, it's mostly MyMathLab anyways.
Horrible teaching methods.. doesn't show care or patience for her students!! Try taking someone else!!
Find someone else to teach you this class
Grades very picky! takes points off for everything. not willing to work with you on missed assignments or questions over tests.Pick someone else if possible
She's nice. I found her to be helpful when I didn't understand something. I would ask her about it and she would explain. There's not THAT much homework, but it's more than preferred. You MUST attended as many classes as you can. She does a lot of group work, and it hurts your grade if you're not there.
It started out really tough. We averaged at about 60 on our first test and she said that was good. There are only three tests, so it's tough to keep your grade up. You have quizzes almost every other day but towards the end it gets easier. No multiple choice, every thing is on a graphing calculator.
I would not recommend her to anyone who is not a math wiz. She over complicates things and isn't very helpful when someone is asking a question. Homework is very important and be sure to do EVERYTHING assigned.
Took her for college algebra 2 semesters ago. She's very helpful and notes and lectures are clear. Tests were a little hard, but I think if you study you'll be fine. My only complain with her is her group work - it was not at all helpful and we always left class late and I would be late to my class after hers. I'd still recommend her though!
Prof. Younts is very picky with the homework answers and will mark them wrong even if the answer is in the wrong format. However, it made passing the final exam a cinch. :)
Prof. Yonts is a good teacher, if you are a slacker you may not think so. Do the homework, take notes, and ask questions. She is very willing to help if you aren't understanding something. I think she was great and I'll be taking her for another math class next semester
Professor Younts is a nice lady but she is a terrible math teacher. Her classes are incredibly boring and her review guides have absolutely nothing to do with what's on the test. She does a poor job explaining concepts and doesn't answer questions thoroughly. If math is not your strength, DO NOT TAKE YOUNTS.
awful teacher. group work is an excuse so she doesn't have to teach!!!! wish I could drop her class. doesn't answer questions.
When I first saw this professor I thought I would enjoy her class, however by the end of the semester I found myself annoyed and just turned off by her attitude. I personally would not recommend her unless you enjoy group work.
failed her class despite going to office hours for help 3 times. she literally is the worst professor at santa fe, do not take her unless you want to completely teach yourself the material
She is a very nice lady however whatever reviews that are given that claim she is a great teacher, do yourself a favor and ignore them. I did all her homework twice, showed up for everyclass, participated in every group activity required, and got help after hours.I did everything the good reviews said to do and i still struggled the whole time.
Ms. Younts's class was not very easy. She was kind of snarky to kids who did not understand the problems. She would answer questions with a smile, and a smart attitude. As a person, I'm indifferent, as a teacher if I had other options, I would use them.
She is a really great professor. However, she doesn't take any guff from students who show her disrespect or don't put any effort into their work. She can't do math for you! For this reason, people don't like her I guess. Personally, I champion someone who is both helpful to those that she sees are trying and unaccepting of people with attitude.
Mrs. Younts is an awesome teacher and super friendly. A lot of people give her crap on here, but she is really good at breaking things down for you and making it all simple. I was scared to take Statistics because I heard it was hard but she made it easy for me.
This is the worlds worst teacher in every single way possible save urself money and don't even think about picking her....
I have never rated a teacher, until now. I STRONGLY urge everyone to pick a different teacher, Younts is highly confusing. She marks off for EVERYTHING, her tests are very difficult, and she has no sympathy for any of her students. She accepts NO late work. mandatory attendance, which she checks the second class starts.. must be on time!!
I really liked Mrs. Younts, I struggled in this class but I studied and pulled through. She is firm but very helpful. The harsh grading is because the department final is graded by different people. She prepares you well for tests. But you have to put in work also.
Mrs. Younts is the WORST teacher i have ever had. When i went for help she told me ( as i was crying ) " half of the US fails algebra" --- INAPPROPRIATE. Missed class ONCE my grade went from a 90 to 50. She offers no extra credit. Her tests are NOTHING like the homework. She is unclear. I went to a tutor 2 times a week and still had to withdraw
In my opinion she was a terrible teacher. I showed up for class every single day and took notes on everything she went over. Every time I would ask her for help, she would pretty much tell me to figure it out myself, instead of going over it with me for a better understand. I withdrew from her class & took Mark McGraw, who is a much better teacher!
Rude, unhelpful, condescending are all perfect words to describe Mrs. Younts. I had her for college algebra & what a nightmare it was, she is NOT a good teacher & makes you feel stupid for even asking questions. I am baffled as to how this lady is employed as a teacher as she seems to have NO regard for her students or their success in her class.
Prof. Younts has a bad rep- she is a tough grader and you truly have to study hard and attend class if you want to pass. There is no way she will let you off the hook with anything & you will earn the grade you deserve, good or bad. I personally loved her because she made me realize that if you work hard you can pass! great teacher and great class!
Mrs. Younts is the best! For the amount of work she has to teach per semester, she does a great job explaining it all. It's definitely a tough class. All you have to do is practice over and over. Drill the steps down in your mind and you'll be fine. And ignore Yount's other ratings! She is a great professor, it's just that the class is hard.
Horrible teacher and a horrible person.
I took her twice (for College Algebra and Stats). I like her, although she was a harsh grader and there was a lot of HW and work in general. She helps, just doesn't give you the entire answer. Her tests murdered me, and those are what lower your grade, since no amount of 100s on HW will raise it (stupid system). I got a B in both classes, though.
EXTREMELY harsh grader, marks off for your work, don't assist your neighbor even it's their calculator you will get yelled at, don't ask questions unless you want to feel stupid, very rude, uptight teacher, lots of group work, tests are hard, easy department final. She needs to be removed from SFC math department
VERY hard grader and she gives a lot of homework. She is a good teacher and makes sure you know how to do the problems. I went to her office several times this semester and she is very willing to help teach you one on one. Attendance is mandatory You do not need the book just the connect code but it is very helpful to have the book in class.
Grading is extremely tough. There is no such thing as partial credit on most questions. You may get 1 point for trying but even making one mistake takes most points. If need help over weekends (outside office hours) she doesn't email back. Teaches clearly in class, doing it alone is HARD! I was always good in math, hardest class ever! TAKE NOTES!!
She's a really tough grader, and made college algebra very tough. but i pulled through and i can honestly say I'm glad i took her, i learned a lot in her class. If you aren't going any far in math don't take her, but if you are she can really lay a good solid math foundation for you.
I took her for college algebra and statistics. It wasn't easy but boy did I learn. She wasn't going to just give you the grade you wanted but was more than willing to help you out and go over the same problem multiple times if you didn't understand. If you show up, take notes, and do the homework you should pass with a solid grade.
I really wouldn't recommend her if you struggle with math. She doesn't have time to help explain areas of difficulty. In fact, she was really rude to the students who fell behind. Her tests are hand written and short, which means that they are nothing like the online Pearson math lab modules. Missing a couple questions really hurts your test grade
Professor Younts' classes are really organized and easy to follow. She explains everything step by step and specifies how she likes things. What you see in class is what you get on tests. BE PREPARED FOR TONS OF HOMEWORK. But they're great practice. Pay attention in class, do your homework, rely on the study guides and you'll do fine.
Great instructor, but get ready to earn your grade. People tend to go into college courses expecting a free ride for some reason. Be diligent and take good notes. She'll work with you also, don't be afraid to ask.
If you do not understand something she always recommend you going to her office even when almost the whole entire class do not understand the material. Very smart mouth and rude. I recommend you not to take this lady.
She is not a helpful teacher. When it comes to grading exams, she would look for any reason to take points out. She can be pretty rude. Did not enjoy the class! (Also, if you are at least 1 minute late she will mark you as absent)
Younts is quite a rude person, and not very knowledgeable in the subject. She couldnt answer basic things in class, even during her office hours. I wish I had taken another professor, because even though I finish with B, I didnt learn much.
Younts is awesome. I've always been bad at math, but I got a B+ in her class. Her lectures are organized and easy to understand, and she was always nice. If you're looking for an easy A, don't take this class, but if you actually want to learn, you can't do better than Younts. 10/10 recommend her.
Be prepared to earn your grade procrastinate and you will fail I procrastinated for 2 tests failed both she will make you ready for final exam that's gonna feel easy aside from that she takes off points for every little mistake for example you get the answer right and forget to put down the units -2 points be late to class 1min and you're absent.
She is not good at all . She is not helpful . she lectures fast and doesn't care if the student understand or not .
She doesn't understand math enough , sometimes she skips questions because she's doesn't know the answers . I don't recommend her at all .
Professor Younts cares and wants you to learn, so she expects you to take notes, do the work and study hard, and you WILL learn. I liked her class because it challenged me.
I had to work hard, but it paid off. Great teacher. very clear lectures.
I'm not usually good at math, but I got an A. but I had to work for it. Professor Younts just really helps you understand the Algebra and how its used. She's my fave!
Mm, not the best nor more understanding teacher. She's really picky about when you turn things in- deducting points if you don't turn it in at the start of class. She's inconsistent with her teaching style, as sometimes you go through a handout or through the textbook. She gives you good rhymes and visuals to help you remember certain points.
I f you wanba learn stats, take this professor. she explains everything so that it makes sense.
related the math to real life, so for once, i liked math. she was tough but fair
I loved this professor because I learned so much!
Great teacher! You'll work for it, but you'll learn alot!
I loved this class, but I love math, so... Professor Younts knows her stuff and applies it all to real life.
I learned more than I wanted to. LOL! But it was worth it! I feel smart!
Very organized. You know what will be happening for the whole semester and I appreciate that. I learned a lot about algebra
PRofessor Younts really helped me learn!
Professor Younts was a big help to me! I went during office hours and got help when the lab couldn't help me, and she was always helpful!
This was a good class due to the professor being able to explain everything, and I learned a lot.
It almost killed me, but I loved the class!
I got a lot out of this class and feel ready for precalculus. actually, I feel ready for anything! lol
thi was a good class I learned alot
loved this class cuz I learned so much!
This professor helps me connect all the topics, so it all makes sense.
I had to work very hard, but it was worth because I learned so much! I feel like a statistician!
Professor Younts really loves what she does and you can see it in her teaching. I don't usually like math, but she got me liking it, too. LOL
PRofessor Younts makes you work hard, but I learned a lot from her. she's fair and very organized. she lays out the semester for you so you know when everything will happen and when things are due.
love this professor -- she really cares about whether or not I learn -- tough but really awesome
Ok, so I learned a lot a lot a lot! And I feel good about that. Professor Younts was really interested in me learning and helped me with it. She's very clear about what she expects and lays out the whole semester in advance.
Professor Younts expects you to work, but she's really helpful and clear. She answers questions in class and after class. She checks her email often, so you'll hear back from her pretty quick.
I love this professor. She's no nonsense, but still human. She cares about your success in the class.
This was like the hardest class ever for me because i'm not good at math, but I have to say I really am proud of myself because I did great! professor Younts made it possible for me to learn math and that's a miracle, so I am eternally grateful! She was awesome!
I love math and this was a class where I got to see a lot of the applications of math in the real world. this was a nice change from most of the other math classes that I've had
Professor Younts likes you to be in class on time, do the work and participate and don't text, but she is a really good teacher. I learned a lot and felt like a real math student for a change.
good teacher
I had to study a lot, but math is not easy for me. Professor Younts explained everything really clear, so I could understand and answered my questions, too. I feel like I learned a lot.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. She is very thorough in teaching and is easy to understand. As long as you attend her class and do the assignments you will get a decent grade. She does grade the tests tough, but it prepares you for the final. She thoroughly prepares you for the next class.
good professor, but she expects you to do the work. if you do the work and study, you'll pass.
She usually lost me in class because her lectures are boring. She explains non-stop and expects us to know every detail. Also not really helpful when you ask a question. She turns to you by asking to you! Do NOT take her.
I learned a lot from this awesome teacher.
Professor Younts is a great teacher, she explains everything very clearly and helps you understand better if you don't get it, Is always available during her office hours and is very patient. she also hands out study guides before each test and will work with you to better you're grade. DON'T BE LATE OR ABSENT. she maintains a strict class policy
This was easy for me, but i'm kinda nerdy. :-)
Mrs. Younts is a very smart and nice lady. She will work with you. I tried my hardest to pass the class I did everything. I did not miss one quiz or homework assignment, I just didn't do so hot on the test. I honestly felt like this class was a honors class. This might be the class for you, but it didn't work with my learning style.
I love professor Younts! She explains everything very clearly and doesn't mind if you ask dumb questions. She'll answer them!
She is a no none sense prof. Very organized and very easy to follow. There was a new concept introduced almost every class, so dont miss class. Very knowledgeable in mathematics and she explains everything thoroughly. that being sad, dont give her lip bout math, she will put you in your place. show up to class, do your HW and you will do fine.
Ehhh. If you are ready for a challenge and mercilessness this professor is the one for you. Don't get me wrong, Professor Younts does prepare students for the cumulative final but she is tough. There are 3 exams plus the final. I recommend doing all MyMathLab homework/quizzes and the few projects she gives, which helped my grade.
I didn't have any trouble with this class, but I am good in math, so... lol but seriously, PRofessor Younts is a good teacher. She answers questions and explains everything really clear. You just have to do everything that she asks you to do. And don't text or be late to class.
Great teacher! YOu have to work hard, but she helps you learn everthing if you do your part!
This class was ridiculous when it comes to homework. Literally 20-25 questions for one chapter and that would take me 2-3 hours. And each question would have multiple parts. Tests and quizzes extremely difficult. I wouldn't take this if your not that great at math and your not a good test taker. She's a nice person but tough professor.
Professor Younts is a very nice lady and she explains well in class but she's not very helpful in one on ones. Her homework is really hard and usually 20 questions with multiple part questions. Her notes make it look easy but her homework and quizzes are impossible.
Even though she tries to be extra nice, she fails to understand that not every student learns the same. She is a tough grader, can be sarcastic and hurt your feelings. Leaves too much stuff and does not offer extra credit or ways to improve your grade.
Very meticulous grader. She is a very nice lady. I am a 4.0 student, but I just barley have a "B" in her class. Doesn't offer extra credit. And there are lots of group assignments, which I honestly don't like because she will only look at the top paper for answers, and if someone writes a different answer than you, you'll get it wrong too.
she doesn't care about her students she teaches because she has to. but doesn't care about you at all. I don't recommend!
She's very picky and she doesn't care at all about her students.. don't even think about asking for extra credit. She's very sarcastic and gives group projects all the time. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Trust me!
I liked this class and learned a lot. Professor Younts really cares about you learning the stuff.
This was a good class, if you are interested in really learning and understanding the material, which I was. IF you are not interested in learning, you might want to take someone else.
I thought I wasn't going to be able to do this at first, but then my grades got better and better. I really learned a lot!
Good class. She won't take any guff, but she cares about her students.
You have to do online homework and quizzes, group work and tests. It's a lot, but it helps learn the material. The test are over what she says they are over.
do the work and go to class and study for the tests like she says, and you'll do fine.
I learned so much from this professor! She makes the material relevant!
She seems like a nice lady, but she's an EXTREMELY tough grader. I'm an A-B student and she's making it very hard to get at least a high C in this class. Bring your book to class because shell expect it and might take points off of your grade of you don't bring it. I'd rather take this class online.
I have heard so many bad things about the many Stats professors here at Santa Fe, but I have had no a single problem with her. She gives you every opportunity to do well in her class such as follow along notes, test study guides, and vocabulary handouts. She also goes over any questions you have on previous test! By far favorite math professor!
She's totally a professional. Efficient, clear and helpful.
Don't. She tries to act nice but you can tell she isn't. Gives bad news with a smile, takes attendance before the start time of class most days so even if you are on time she will mark you late. Takes off 20% on the homework per DAY after the due date. Tough grader. Literally just repeats herself if you don't quite understand. Spare yourself.
She is a very hard grader, she gives pretty clear lectures, but often times it doesn't translate over to her tests very well because practice problems are different than the test. Unless your a genius at math ATTEND CLASS or you will fail. Make sure to be on time, I suggest you do every HW because you will need it, bring the book. good luck lol.
Starts off alright for the first half. Come the second half you're kinda on your own if you want extra help (can be condescending even when giving you help) aaaaand that's pretty much it. Tough test, tough grader, 1 or 2 classes will be a group work assignment that she wont even collect and you can't even leave early on those days
She is a decent, responsible instructor. You have to work harder to get a good grade
She is professional in teaching. Lectures are clear and organised. She prepared lecture notes and vocabulary sheets, which are easy to understand. She spent a lot of time to grade students' papers. She is so nice and sweet to help outside of class. I struggled because English is my second language but I did not give up. I got a A finally.
This is my second attempt on trying to take College Algebra, but it didn't go too well. Professor Yount is a nice lady; however, her teaching style was a little hard to follow, for me. I'm not very good at math, to begin with; but this didn't help me out at all.
One of the best teachers and one of the toughest graders Ive ever had. If you REALLY want to learn, she is the perfect teacher. I loved her teaching style and her devotion to teaching. Dont be afraid to reach out if you have any questions and definitely do not miss the class. However, If you want an easy grade, you should consider someone else.
Really cares about your understanding of the material, the note guides she uses for lectures really help with the homework and you should use them to study for the tests. Really great teacher!
She is a great teacher ive taken her for college algebra and stat now, kinda sassy, but 3 or 4 test and online quizzes and homework about once a week. gives extra credit for being in class.
Shes tough but if you need to use math you will absolutely learn it. She has her own notes that helps in class.
Professor Younts is an amazing teacher. Stats is a difficult subject but she makes it very easy to understand. She's always open and willing to help you if you don't understand something too. I don't recommend skipping any classes because you will be lost the next time you come.
Took Younts for College Algebra and Stats. She is a phenomenal teacher and engrains the material in you with 2 HW assignments and 2 MyLab Math Quizzes a week with 4 tests in a semester. Tests usually way easier than HW and always answers your questions. Incentive to keep up with work is max 6 point curve on EVERY test (take advantage).
I was under the impression that this professor was phenomenal. I read some of the reviews before choosing this prof. many people said she was a great prof. She is actually the absolute opposite. I have never taken someone as hard as she is. She grades very tough and gives no chances for incomplete answers. She expects everything to be 100% perfect.
study by yourself! don't take her class!!!!
Do not take her class. She is the most petty teacher i've ever had. In her tests, she doesn't bother acknowledging the work you did in your answers. She will not give you points if you have one thing incorrect, or if you add extra CORRECT information to your answers.
Save yourself from a semester of torture, crying, stress, and 24 hour studying. She is by far the most horrible professor I have ever taken in college. This class ruined my GPA. She is cruel and does not care about you. She has no sympathy. She expects all her work to be perfect and clear. NO EXCEPTIONS. Avoid this prof. You will cry everyday!
Worst mistake was to take this teacher my first semester of college! She is the most meticulous grader ever . She gives no extra credit either and the exams are worth more than half your grade. If you can choose any other teacher do so because if not you will be stressing 24/7 !
I struggle ALOT in math, in fact this was my second Time taking this class. Yes, she is tough grader BUT the HW and partner work isn't that hard and if you ask her for help she is always there. Professor Younts likes to see you care and put in effort. She also curves test which was EXTREMELY HELPFUL. If you're good at math and self motivating
AWFUL calc teacher. I did all the hw AND extra book problems and I still failed the 1st test. We had 4 tests/quizzes in just October. She grades too harsh, correct answers are 2 points so you can fail that much more if you get it wrong. Teaches as if you know as much as her. Overworks you with quizzes too close together and no chance to study well.
She's available and will answer yours questions. At first, seemed passive aggressive, but she's truly kind. You have to *work* for a passing grade. The tests will not exactly like prior homework or lab assignments. You will have to understand the material to answer any problems. She is a very strict grader and does not give exceptions.
Calculus is a tough class. Regardless of what teacher you take you are going to have a hard time. Prof Younts gives handouts with the topics, practice problems and terms so you can follow along with her during lectures. Her tests are rough but you have got to put in the work to really learn. Id suggest making webassign your best friend.
She's a really good professor. Her notes are very organized and goes through them clearly. Lots of homework, but it isn't a big part of your grade. The tests are pretty heavy on your grade (70% with the final), but they're not that hard if you pay attention to class problems and labs and quizzes. Very picky grader, but that's how math should be
Prof. Younts was a solid choice for Calc 1, she gives printed out notes for every lesson with example problems. Expect around 3 homework assignments through webassign weekly, due on Sundays. She is very nice and will explain and do additional practice problems if asked. The Homework is definitely harder than the tests.
DON'T DO IT!! She doesn't go over a lot of examples during lecture outline notes. Younts makes things harder for you to learn. She doesn't teach multiply ways of doing things and only like it her way. Most of the time homework and quizzes questions doesn't line up with her notes. Especially her test. Again DON'T DO IT!! Trust me. Very tough grader
Gives guided notes in which you follow her work and fill out info on each subject, which is very helpful for studying especially as a freshman. My only real complaint is the exams are pretty tough (read. directions. carefully.) and she's a very strict grader, and she spends a lot more time on limit definitions than probably necessary.
Very tough grader. She was nice enough during classes and willing to meet outside of class, but her lectures and the homework were very different from each other. Not an easy class, and definitely no extra credit provided in this class. DO THE WORK.
Ive never gotten anything lower than an A in a math class ever, and I am failing with this prof. Shes a TOUGH and UNFAIR grader. Dont both going to office hours, she wont help you. 70% of your final grade is exams. Limits how many questions you can ask her in labs. Cant ask questions during exams. DO NOT take this class with her!
During the COVID-19 home learning, Prof. Younts adjusted the class really well. She continued lessons in the same format and stayed organized which helped us all transition. The same cannot be said for my other classes........ I hope I can take her for calc. The online homework was consistent, it really reinforced what we learned in class.
She isn't a bad teacher, she knows how to teach. Be prepared to study because you will not pass if you don't. Make sure you show up to class EARLY, or she will mark you absent. She didn't allow me to take my second exam because I was 15 minutes late to class and some students already left the class. Put time into this class or you will fail.
Lectures are very easy to understand because of the guided notes, but doesn't teach us everything we need to know for the homework. Homework is nonstop and you have to pay an extra 100 dollars just to be able to access the course on Cengage. Stupid idea, should just stick with canvas like every other teacher. Seems like a nice person, really is not
Worst math professor ever. She does not care about her students. Reaching out for help is like talking to a brick wall.
Professor Younts is amazing! I'm not a math person, so taking Calc1 was super intimidating. She made each lecture simple to follow along with and her guided notes are great study tools. Her exams are tough, but if you study the material she tells you to, you'll do fine. She's chill and she really cares about her student's success!
She is unreasonable and petty. Doesnt care about your success in her class, so dont bother her with your questions. Never helped me no matter how many times I went to her office hours. Please drop her class if you can. I took this class again with a different professor and got an A.
OK teacher, but Younts' transition to online-only has been nothing but abysmal. Stopped giving solutions post-test, shorter test times, and made class convoluted for the sake of emulating pre-online classes. After talking to her and other students for weeks now, I can confirm she doesn't care about students or how COVID-19 has affected their lives.
This is a very good teacher, just make sure you turn your assignments in on time or else you will be penalized.
Turn your papers in on time and you will love this teacher!
Doesn't respond to emails, treats rounding errors the same as the wrong answer. She does not care if you understand the material only that you put the exact right answer in.
No feedback or ability to see graded work on labs or tests. Not responsive, disrespectful to people who asks questions in class and doesn't ever stop to ask if there are questions. Goes through "guided notes" in class that are incredibly simplified versions of what you will see on homework and quizzes and not helpful. Exact answers, no process.
At first I didn't like her because she wasn't very lenient but she's still a very nice professor. Her guided notes are so simplified and don't match up with the homework and tests sometimes. She's good at teaching but the tests are weighted SO MUCH which is extremely annoying.
Professor Younts is a nice lady, but as the review before me noted, her guided notes do not match up with her tests or homework whatsoever. While she did teach well, it's because her guided notes were oversimplified and simple that you could probably do them yourself. Also, the tests are weighted so much that you have to do well on all of them.
1/3? I AM WRITING THIS ASSUMING YOU ARE TAKING AN ONLINE CLASS. IF YOU ARE IN THE IN-CLASS SECTION, DISREGARD MY REVIEW. She is one of the professors who could not handle the online situation well enough. Classes were skipped and even when she did the classes, it was either way too easy and you couldn't do the hw or it wasn't inclusive enough.
2/3? The tests and homework are way too hard for what she shows in class. If you want to learn anything, you better find good youtube channels to explain cause you are going to need them, A LOT. She is a tough grader. If you are missing a single small thing in your solution or did something in a different way than she did, forget your points.
3/3? There were labs every wednesday in which we just did small quizzes in groups but they too, were very different from what she taught. If you think differently or find your own method more helpful, she will likely try to change your opinion and force you to use hers. ALL IN ALL, if you are willing to learn by yourself go ahead. IwouldntIfIKnew
Don't choose this professor, very hard to deal with her. Hardly reply your messages and concerns.
She teaches the bare minimum. All the exams are way harder than what she teaches in class. Homework is through MYLab and Mastering and it's a completely different level than what she teaches in class. I would study hours on end for this class, she makes it very challenging.
Dr. Younts is an extremely hard grader and all-or-nothing; there were many times on tests where my answers were correct but she gave 0 credit because of improper notation. She is also genuinely unfair; she doesn't give enough time for her tests and her notes don't prepare you for the hw or assessments. Do not take this professor if you can, please!
Professor Younts does not handle an online class well, at all. I can't speak for her class outside of the pandemic, but she tried to arbitrarily graft in-person time limits into an online setting, it was very poorly done. For example, if you did some work in class, you needed to upload a PDF to Canvas in 10 minutes. Took 11 minutes? That's a zero.
terrible professor, doesn't help at all, magically puts dumb questions on tests she acts like she's ever taught us before. don't tell me to use commonsense when i've studied for hours and hours and you pull these voodoo questions. stop teaching, you are horrible! students do not need someone like you. i wish i could give you -1 /100 instead.
She sucks and doesnt answer any questions. Would highly recommend not having this professor
I'm not sure if it was because it was a virtual hybrid class but she would make video lectures and show us a piece of paper with fill in the blanks and the whole time she would read through the paper and fill in the blanks and then in class she would assume we knew how to do it. if thats how you learn you'll do great but if not i don't recommend.
Took her online zoom class and I barely passed and do not believe a single one of my classmates received an A. One of the most unhelpful professors I have ever taken, when asking questions in class she would not offer any help. One of the toughest most picky graders I have ever seen.
Not a good teacher, lectures are online meaning you learn little to nothing in person, 4 tests which are each 11% and a final that is 20%, the tests are difficult and worksheets and notes are not enough to study material, also she is a picky grader meaning the slightest error could make you lose a lot of points, would not recommend at all
Probably sits at one of the worst professors I have ever had in my 3 years of college. Emails get a response in 2-3 days later. Dont believe everything that comes out of her mouth, stated in class email her for a PDF copy of the lecture guide then once requested said it must be purchased at the store. No electronics, even tablets for note taking
She is picky on notation but has good lectures very similar to HW
Professor Younts is quite possibly the worst professor ever. She is the pickiest grader on the face of the planet. Also, she is very rude to her students. A student left during class one time and she proceeded to yell at the remaining students in the class (as if we all left as well). Made for a hostile environment for the rest of the semester.
You will get a C with this prof. Homework looks nothing like the tests, grading is insanely strict, all her lectures are online and they don't match the notes, and she doesn't help at all. How can you be so vague with grading but award no partial credit? You will get a C on every test no matter how hard you try. Please take stats with someone else.
Excellent professor who does demand a fair bit from her students. You must be willing to read out of class and practice your problems. She will help you in office hours and lectures, but you should study outside of class.
She is an extremely tough grader and very detail specific. If you study HARD you will do okay. She is willing to do office hours. if you ask her for practice problems before test she will give them and it helps. Study a LOT and you will do okay. 1-2 hw a week, lab or quiz every other week and 3 test total plus final
Awful. took Pre Cal in high school and struggled a fair bit but needed to take this corse for my major. Couldn't even last a month with Prof Younts. I did hybrid so her videos were so long for no reason, giving no valuable info. Very tough unnecessary grading. Won't let you do something your way even if it's easier. Take this with someone else PLS!
Professor Younts is a really tough grader. It was on of the most difficult classes I've ever taken in my life. PLEASE do not take the class hybrid because you need to teach yourself everything. She is open to office hours and will give you lots of practice problems before the test if you wish to do so. She is a splendid person but difficult teacher
Do not recommend. We met once a week so you teach yourself almost everything. I watched every one of her old recorded zoom lectures, went to tutoring, studied and still struggled. She's accessible outside of class but doesn't let you make up work AT ALL. No extra credit. Strict grading. Unnecessary required labs and unnecessary stress.
do not recommend her hybrid calc class. you teach yourself everything through old recorded lectures, and in class you do worksheets that contain the simplest version of questions on the topic. tests are hard. very tough grader and is picky about notation. don't recommend unless you are committed to studying or already know calculus well.
Hybrid online-in person just means you have to teach yourself everything through online lectures that only go over the most basic kinds of questions. Does not test on what she teaches, tests questions are a step above what she teaches. Very tough grader
Don't take this hybrid class if you have a choice! Professor Younts does not teach the content itself in class, and you are expected to learn everything through online videos. She does problem-solving activities in class, which may or may not help you, but other than that, you're on your own. 4 tests largely define your grade. Incredibly HW-heavy.
(Hybrid class) Professor Younts has to be the worst professor I have ever taken.Teaching I didn't know that was a thing in Professor Younts classroom. It was the end of September before we actually learned something in class all the other days were quizzes and tests. She is also very rude when it came to office hours.
You will pretty much learn everything by yourself as Professor Younts doesn't actually teach during class and the textbook is basically jargon. Review your own work and study online via practice problems and watching yt videos to understand the idea behind calc. I highly recommend "The Organic Chemistry Tutor" and "3Blue1Brown" to learn about calc.
This professor is extremely difficult. She gives homework every week some due on the same day up to 20 questions or more. The tests are incredibly difficult and even if you study she still adds questions on the test that you are guaranteed to not know. I would really refrain from taking this professor specifically MAC2311. Tests are 44% ofyourgrade
a brutal grading system allocates 44% to a perplexing final exam. The questions, unrelated to the course, induce frustration. The mismatch between taught material and exam content creates an atmosphere of academic betrayal, making the learning experience needlessly challenging.
TAKE ANY OTHER PROFESSOR. Do not expect an A, especially if you take hybrid. After every test, you'll feel cheated out of your grade. You will need the exact right answer on every question and every step of work you show must be perfect. Points are taken off for everything. If you are not careful the first few quizzes will entirely ruin your grade.
Fail a test fail your grade hardest professor ever taken and that says a lot. Never take this professor please have mercy on your soul she is the worst in office hours too she doesnt even explain it.
Took her in Spring 24', some of y'all are just lazy students cause she wasn't that hard, it's a Calculus class. Read the notes before class, watch videos, go to lectures. She answers questions about assignments, labs, and some quizzes in class. Do the work and you'll pass. p.s. she is kinda particular about certain ways to write stuff as answers.
