She is a great teacher. If you pay attention and take the knowledge with you it wiil help you with the rest of your college years!!

she is nice and interesting. the lecture on Gatsby is fabulous. there are four essays, but if you mess up one of them, you can do a make-up essay to help with your grade. it is better to start early on the research paper although you got a whole semester to do it.

She's so much fun and interesting. Welsh is a fair grader and the work isn't too bad at all.

First of all, Welsh is a very sweet lady. She is very attractive for an old lady as well. She is very energetic and keeps the class going pretty smooth. Class has 4 essays and a couple book quizes. For an English 1C course, this class is cake.

She's one teacher that will keep you interested the whole time you are in her class. I can tell she thinks it's her duty to get the students interested and she obligates herself to make students understand every little detail of readings. She gives you group sessions which is helpful in many wayz.

I love her! She picks the best subjects that keep you interested. She is very informative, and helps you with anything that might be difficult. Its true she does give a few essays, but they help with writing skills. I will so take her again.

good teacher! had enthusiasm. a lot of what we did was repetative, but if you write well you'll like this class! if you write 2 of her essays really well you've basiclly written the other 2. b/c they're rewrites of the first ones. kind of boring. but good class to take!

I really enjoyed how the material of the class revolved around the "American Dream". The text was great and the essay topics were good too. I really did learn more in this class than English. She is a little cocky though and grades heavily on quantity. Which hurt my grades because I tend to get right to the point in my essays. I enjoyed the class.

Professor Welsh is great! She is charming & has a fabulous personality! This was one of my favorite classes!!! She made Children's Lit. very enjoyable. I would highly recommend her. If you do all your reading & participate, this class shouldn't be a problem. :)

Never took her for any of my classes but met her. I find that she's pretty good person. I wish I could take her for a class but too bad, I no longer would be at ECC. I'm sorry Laura Welsh, I wish I had you but I didn't. She's a hottie and a sweetheart. Her appearance is way too attractive that I could barely even resist! She's one of the hotties.

Well, to begin, I'm still at ECC, but I'm no longer taking English because I am more of an Earth Science person. Well, I wish she teach Geology, but she doesn't. I also wish she teaches Physics as well. She'll bring all the fun to Physics if she teaches it, but too bad she doesn't.

The class requires a lot of work. She explains everything clearly and goes over all the papers that tou have to write, including the major research paper. Shes great, funny sense of humor, and never a dull moment.

A very eye opening class which made me apparent to pop culture and how retarded it is. Class difficulty is average. If you show up to class and do the work an "A" can be obtained. I got a B in this class and wouldn't recommend it to anyone that inst willing to put in some work and time.

She's funny, interesting and an overall great teacher. She bases her class around pop culture. There are 4 essays plus a research paper. Take the time to actually work on them and you will do fine. All due dates are given on the first day of class so no late work is accepted. The lowest grade on everything is dropped. Best English teacher I've had.

Mrs. Welsh is a great teacher. You just have to do the work. She has the entire sylabus for you on the first day so you know what you are getting into.

welsh is that hardest english teacher ive ever taken. she is not very clear about what she wants on your essays. you have to have good essay writing skills to do well. if you were never good at eng, dont take her. she drops a grade from every category, this is good. she takes off 5 pts for every absence. class is boring.

Welsh can keep the class awake at times and sometimes its just so boring. The essays are not too difficult but she does not give you full detail really. The homework and quizes are easy as long as you read her assignments. The only problem about the class is that if you are late after taking roll which she takes on time there goes your points.

Nice person and funny makes the class into comfortable environment. Requires you to do a Research paper for the class really easy if you do everything. Has you read a lot of things regarding the topic the class is about. Class was not hard really easy and the teacher was really helpful and nice.

great english teacher. knows her stuff and teachers very well. makes you interested in class unlike other boring english teachers. just come everyday and do the assignments and you will do well. hardly any class or homework. just reading novels. had her for spring and and got a b.

i took her 8 am class that lasted 2 hours and she managed to keep me awake AND interested. I highly recommended her. Work load is average. Only has a couple grammar tests and they aren't hard. 5 essays but gives you time and helps you through all the them!

Wonderful teacher. Easy to listen to and learn from. Really helps with writing and bettering essays. Also, her theme with American Consumption in her English 1A class is also helpful with real life. Also is really energetic, so it's hard to be bored in her class.

Welsh is incredible, she is very energetic and I often found myself in laughter! She is crystal clear with what is required of her class. All of the reading assignments are related to one another which is quite helpful; no unrelated readings. You will write five essays and a research paper, do not procrastinate on the research paper!

Mrs. Welsh is my favorite teacher of all times. she is extremely passionate about teaching and will explain everything in extreme detail if you do not understand. Shes very sweet and has a great personality. If I could take her again I definitely would! 10 out of 10! you cannot fail her class : )

This teacher is kind of easy but she gives to much work to much reading and to many essays you have 5 essays to do the whole semester and she makes you read articles and teaches you grammer if your a person that dont like to do alot of work dont take her but if your willing to do alot of work take her shes kind of easy

My favorite English teacher.Took her 1B class in winter and was a piece of cake.she gives a lot of reading, but if you take her in the winter you should have time to read anyways.good sense of humor and made class fun.would highly recommend her:)

She is very helpful when it comes to essays. She has essay conferences where she helps us do better. She is very jolly and straight forward. No bs with this prof. A lot of work but it will help you for Eng1A. I recommend her :]

She is probably the best professor I have had at El Camino and I am not an English or Humanities major or minor. She is a wonderful teacher. There are not many assignments but they are not too bad. There is a lot of reading in this class so be prepared. This class made me more interested in the arts rather than apathetic towards the subject.

Professor Welsh is a great teacher because she loves to teach and share her knowledge. Reading the book is a must to pass the class and is the only hw because she only touches on most important aspects. Reviews before midterm and finals and takes her students input about class, test, assignments, etc. very seriously. Would definitely recommend her

Best english A professor! She is very clear of what she expects from students. Not a hard class to pass as long as you attend class, read, and participate. I did not really mind the reading because the things she assigns to read are actually interesting topics. Essays are based on reading. Final is a research paper.

Loved her. She is passionate about literature and that makes it more interesting. There is a lot of reading and a few essays but she grades fairly. I was a little intimidated when I found out the workload but ended up getting an A. All you have to do is show effort in this class and you will do fine. She's also very funny!

3essays, 2exams, 9quizzes, 2assignments. I took the winter class and as long as you stay on top of work then it's good. A lot of reading and 1500 word essays can be much but she grades fair. Like others have posted, attendance is mandatory but participation plays a big role in grade too. Work hard and get the grade, that's all I ever ask for.

I've taken this teacher for english A & 1A. Although the concept is always the same (media & consumerism) she has a great way of teaching. This teacher is not for the lazy, hard workers get an A!!!

She effectively provokes your critical and analytical thinking skills to incorporate your topics into a theme. Great intro to lit class. Read Shakespeare, Glass Menagerie by Williams, short stories by Faulker&others, poetry by Hardy, Owen, Jarrel& others. Discussions really helped to understand underlying messages. Easy to approach. Recommend.

I took this professor twice. I received As in both English A and 1A. I enjoyed these classes and writing the essays. The topics covered were interesting, including the book "The Great Gatsby" (my favorite). It brings back memories when I used to go to ECC. She is a pro at her subject but be prepared. She can be tough but I learned a lot from her.

Great teacher. Has a ton of energy. If you don't do the readings, your dead in the water..

She is essentially the real version of Holly Flax from the show 'The Office'.

She's very strict, doesn't accept late work, she's does have a few funny moments here and there, if you're a shy person don't take her class she expects everyone to participate and will call on you for your p.o.v of the material.

She's such an incredible teacher, it's too bad Im transferring next semester. Id really like to have another class with Welsh and I wish I'd taken her for English. Lectures are thorough, energetic, interactive, and most of all thought provoking. If you keep up with reading, you'll thoroughly enjoy lectures and tests. Don't cheat yourself, read.

You must do your reading to participate in class discussions, and you must be able to do in-class essays.

Very energetic personality. There is a heavy amount of reading. Although she is not the easiest English professor.. you will improve more taking her class in comparison to the easier class. Make sure you show up on time every day, or she takes points off.

LAURALEE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER!!! Make sure you show up and do homework. If you show her your making an effort she will be most helpful. Her class is not easy, but she will get you enthusiastic in class discussions to help you understand the material. Take her class!

This isn't an easy class. If you just want to just pass English 1A for gen ed purposes, you're better off with another class. But if you want to learn something, and actually improve your study habits, and your reading and writing skills, then this is the class to take.

She’s a really cool professor. The type to crack a joke and actually make you laugh. her class is based on 5 essays(drops the lowest score for a total of 4, so if you do well on the first 4 you don’t have to do essay 5), 1 research paper and 11-12 journals that are worth 10 points each. Very easy, very fun. highly recommend.

Professor Welsh is the best! i totally recommend her! A lot of reading and participation is required in order to succeed in her class, but so fun. As long as you arrive on time, prepared for class, complete homework assignments, and do your reading, you'll be in great shape. The readings are fun and worthwhile!

This lady is AWESOME. She really cares for her students. If you go to the writing center she offers an extra 5%. She'll even help you with your paper during office hours. Even though I took this for Humanities, this class significantly increased my English skills.

IF YOU ARENT WILLING TO DO THE WORK DONT TAKE THE CLASS. otherwise, shes clear about what is required. just do the reading + assignments. go to class and participate. you'll get an A. Go to her office hours if you have a question. First day of class she was intimidating, but I didn't drop and ended up loving her class!

Learned a lot from this professor. Though, it is not an easy A class. Expect to learn and MUST read material. You can fool your way out of the readings if you attempt to you will fail. Overall, she is a great teacher is passionate about literature and she's hilarious. Tip. Mandatory attendance participation and be on time.

Professor Welsh is the best humanities teacher to take in El Camino! I took her for the summer and at first i was scared that cuz it was alot of reading and taking notes, but then after i got the hang of it and the class was easy. She made class so fun and enjoyable. She is really passionate of what she teaches! and take advantage of the Ex. Credit

Took her over the 6-week summer session and all I can say is I wish I took this class over a semester instead! I enjoyed my time in her class and would have loved to continue discussing novels with her. She gives great feedback. It also doesn't hurt that she chose some interesting readings. A little tough to get A's but talk with her beforehand!!!

Awesome professor however unrealistic amount of work load given. If you are lazy this is not for you she is typically like a boss who gives so much nonsense work that takes your time off from school.

One of my favorite professors! It's a lot of work, but if you do it you WILL get an A! She drops the lowest essay grade so I didn't have to even turn the last one in. Lots of reading, but not too difficult. Gives plenty of time to complete work and receive feedback before it is due. Doesn't grade too hard and she is so kind!

If you've taken Art 101 already, this class will be a breeze for you. She grades you based on 3 essays (she drops the lowest score) a midterm, and a final. If you need to get those humanities credits, Humanities 1 with Welsh is the way to go! Fun class, interesting topic, and most importantly, easy A.

The class is amazing and she is passionate about art. If you are even remotely interested in art take this class. He grades are based on 2 tests, 3 papers and participation. But her tests are open note, so take good notes. 2 out of the 3 will count to your grade so dont worry if you go a low score on one. She is a great teacher, no doubt about it.

Sweetest & most passionate teacher I've had in a while. She doesn't grade on anything she hasn't taught so her quizzes are easy if you keep up with her grammar lessons. Very important to take notes while reading (jot down page numbers) participation matters (includes not using your phone in class) drops lowest grade on essays. Overall great class!

Lots of discussion assignments must write a lot only for 5 points. 3 papers but not hard grader at all, I thought I did bad on all of them and ended up doing good. Drops 1 discussion grade and paper (lowest grade). Overall, great at giving feedback and very helpful.

Terrific teacher! Lots of essays and reading, but she's very clear about what she expects from you and is extremely fair. Hilarious and, honestly, kind of a babe. I would most definitely take her again.

I took her online huma1 class during the summer. Everything was outlined clearly and on time. 3 essays (she drops the lowest grade so I didn't have to do the 3rd one), discussion posts each chapter (500 words, not hard), & answer some questions that are in the modules by emailing her. Open book midterm & final, she provides outlines. Nice & easy A!

I absolutely love Professor Welsh. She is hilarious and engaging, goes to great lengths to teach you really interesting things that aren't in the book. TONS of reading, but I found it to be really interesting. Tests are easy (open book + open note), easy grader on essays (there are three), and makes participation accessible for shy people like me!

At first I was feeling overwhelmed, but Mrs. Welsh is there for to answer any question. Great professor highly recommend her, just be prepared to read and take notes.

Mrs. Welsh is a really good professor as well a good communicator. She is also more than willing to help you with anything and work with you if you cant quite turn in something on a certain day or at a certain time. she doesnt quiz you at all just know your stuff
