Challenging, but it's the only class in college I've retained anything from!

Unfair, She is a good teacher, but not a good person.
Interesting class. No homework, just 4 tests and a paper. You need to study for the tests.
Great Prof - Very Challenging Course. Make sure to study for the tests.
Extremely hard!! This lady is out of control, way too difficult for an introductory class to management!!!
Great prof. Knows more than any other prof I have had. You finish the class with a lot of practical knowledge. Doesn't play favorites - fair to everyone in class.
SHE IS AWFUL! I am a student in the racial minority (African-American) and I was discriminated against a LOT! I worked my butt off in that class and she still played favorites. Hard class and not fair! DON'T TAKE!
Tough but fair. If you dont get the grade you want, its probably because you didnt earn that grade, not because the teacher is unfair.
Very useful class and demanding, but fair teacher. To the person that claims discrimination, I don't see it, and while I sympathize if that is the case, I simply don't believe it.
I learned so much in this class. Everybody does better gradewise with another professor, but if learning is what you value, take Boone. It's hard to do really well, bc the tests are challenging, but I think it's worth it.
No way is this lady ****. Everyone takes the same test. I AM African-American and she went out of her way to help me.
She's horrible. Oh, and about libel to these persons who run the site, the burden of proof in libel rests with the plaintiff (offended person), so I can't see why you'd limit libel. That's dumb.
This class is very hard, but you will learn a lot. She makes law interesting even if you're not a law student. Tests are extremely hard, but taking good notes makes them possible.
Oh my gosh - very difficult!! Test are unbelievably hard and tricky. She is out of control!!
I am glad I took this class with Boone. She will explain everything very clearly. You must go to class and take notes. The tests are making sure you know how to apply the law, not on whether you just know your vocabulary. Recommend to anyone.
I loved this class. I made me want to be lawyer. Tests were a little tricky but if you look over your notes and understand the concepts you will do fine. She is always available if anyone needs help. I loved it.
awesome!! i loved this class, she has a sense of humor and is always telling stories to liven things up. really helpful and personable, cares about students. i had no problem getting an A in this class, I don't see why people say it's horribly difficult.
Very interesting teacher. Makes you understand the law. she is really hard though as her tests are very tricky sometimes. Even thoguh you may not get a good grade well worth taking. I wasn't interested in the class till I took her. You will learn alot. Not a blow off class at all.
Great teacher. She always had examples and I really enjoyed them. It sounds dorky but I would tell my friends on a regular basis the strange laws I learned in her class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Awesome teacher. A must take.
LOOK HOW THE PERSON AT THE BOTTOM TELLS EVERYONE SHE IS AFRICAN AMERICAN. iTS 2004 GET OVER IT.
Why people think her legal env. class is so bad/hard is totally beyond me. Its a fairly easy class, if you know how to use a pen and take notes, and then look over those notes before test time. The paper isnt too bad, and she gives you a service learning project available for extra cred. take her.
One of the best classes I've taken at SLU thus far. No problem staying interested in this course. Keeps material interesting and relevant. Very down-to-earth and helpful. This course requires a good amount of reading and note-taking, but very worth it. Highly recommended!
Very awesome class! teacher held my interest, and I was interested becuase of her. It is a difficult class but I did not mind. Becuase of her teacher studying is easy and your grade will turn out good.
Thought provoking teacher. Do the service learning experience offered if you want a B+ or an A, otherwise you will need to do well on all exams and the paper. Hard to get higher than a B on the tests.
She is very nice and helpful. Tests are somewhat complicated. You really need to pay attention to grasp some of the concepts. She uses good examples from everyday life.
Like the class. You MUST pay attention and go to class. Sometimes I thought my hand was going to fall off from all the notes. All in all, a worthy class.
A littile difficult but very helpful, tests are not that bad.
Good teacher with lots of stories and examples to make lectures more interesting. Best way to prepare for test is study lecture notes, so make sure you take good notes.
Great teacher, but tests are impossible. Always asks nit picky questions that appear nowhere in here lectures. Maybe 3 or 4 out of 40-50 will get an A in the class. I'll barely squeak out an A-. Liked the class, but it won't exactly be an easy A.
She is a very smart lawyer and gives great real-life examples. I enjoyed her class b/c she is a very engaging teacher. Lectures are long and there are lots of notes. There are 4 tests and a term paper. The class is definitely challenging and attendance and studying is a must. No homework, must work hard for an A or B.
Her lectures are interesting, engaging, and thought-provoking. You won't fall asleep in these classes. You're going to get B's on most of your tests, but do the service learning and write a nice paper and you've got a chance for an A. Trust me, you'd much rather take her awesome class for a B than a boring one for a A. TRUST ME
This class was really intersting and she had sooo many great examples, but her tests were a little trickey at times, but do the paper well and do the extra credit opportunity.
I loved her. She was kinda like our "mom" in the classroom. Very helpful and had funny stories to match the material. 4 tests, 1 easy paper, and an extra credit paper... if you work hard you'll get the A
Boring, unhelpful, and borderline discriminatory.
She will make you wanna be a lawyer. She is clear and a great teacher. 4 test and a term paper which she grades so easy on. Do any extra credit cause you'll need it. Read the book and highlight important stuff to study for tests. test are 40 MP and 2 essays about applying the law. Go to class and take good notes
Not the easiest class, but classes hold your attention and made me want to go to law school. I was excited to write the final paper. Attendance is not mandatory, but I definitely would go. Great professor!
This lady is AMAZING. She has a great sense of humor, and her class is very interesting. Tests are based mostly on lecture, and a little on reading. There is plenty of extra credit opportunities, plus the service learning option that can replace your lowest test grade. You'll want to go to this class!
There is no homework and one semster paper that is like 5 pages. Go to class because she explains the material well. A lot of people do not like her and think she is really hard, but I thought she was nice. I may have felt diffrently but I do love this stuff, so I am a little bias.
Excellent instructor. Information was made super clear and she took a rather boring subject and gave it life. This class is definitely a good one to take. No homework, 4 tests and a paper.
Tough.. heavy workload, long classes with a lot of info.. I'd avoid Tu/Th sections at all costs.. 4+ pages of notes per day with no review prior to test.. reading text is almost necessary with some material on test..4 tests, fairly difficult, some tricks, +term paper and some extra credit opportunities.. I'd be very hesitant to take again..
She kept my attention the whole night class from 630-9. Tests can be tricky, but if studied for properly can be done. Term paper is easy just relate it to as much stuff as she went over in class. If go to class and pay attention and study notes very closely this class is a lot better than volpe's apparently.
Trick professor...I took half of this class at community college the semester before and still was unsure of many things on the tests. Attendance is a must as she covers a lot of information in class. Must read the book to fully understand the concepts as she just skims the surface. Would not recommend her, tests are tricky and no review.
Very very Tricky!!! I cannot begin to explain how Tricky and Arrogant she is. Talks to students like they are 5th graders. Hard tests that have tricky answers. Says she cares about students but DOES NOT. No personality and communication skills. Please Avoid for your benefit.
You would be hurting yourself if you did not take Laurel Boone. She is tough, but she is not tricky. You learn so much from this amazing teacher that the tests are worth studying for. And even then, you just have to read the book, God forbid. Take her, she makes you feel okay with the fact you are paying a lot to go to SLU and she is awesome!!
Boone is amazing, she's one of the best at SLU. She really makes you work but it is totally worth it. If you're willing to learn the material, I would take her class. If you're looking for a blowoff you won't find it here. She's an amazing professor with alot to teach.
I would say that the previous last rating seem particularly odd, it almost seems as if the professor wrote them herself if you read close enough not to mention they are written before the semester has even ended??? Seriously hard and tricky professor, avoid taking her class. Not kind, nor pleasant, and very arrogant.
Hard class avoid for your sake. Very conservative and bureaucratic teacher. Think about it.
She is tricky or maybe even mean. Do not take her unless you have to.
Terrible teacher. Pretends to care about her students, but does not. Even if you know all the material for the test, you won't be able to do as well as you want. Avoid Boone.
Terrible teacher! very cosnervative and mean. Worst semester of my life all bc of her! Nor even exad
I highly recommend Professor Boone. She held my attention for the full 2.5 hours and had interesting, related stories. Tests are indeed difficult, to succeed you will NEED to study the notes and read the chapters. Overall a wonderful teacher.
WOW--Boone=Amazing. The class is actually relevant 2 ur everyday life currently & will apply in the future. GO TO CLASS & take lots of notes. Supplement with book readings and you'll be set for the 4 exams. EC offered by going to writing workshops (up to 12 points total) and a service learning option (25 vol. hrs and 6 pg paper to replace 1 exam)
Prof Boone doesn't ever teach MGNT 420, BIZ 300, or MGT 300 so some of these comments don't make sense. She knows her stuff and you will learn A LOT.
While she was a good teacher, her tests were ridiculous! Honestly, I usually knew the material for her class, yet could never get above like a 77. Her tests are worded in a jargon that makes sense to only her, and other patent attorneys. I recommend her as far as you will learn a lot, but be ready to study your butt off and possibly be dissapointed
i learned a lot. i realized to just read the book and you are guaranteed a 'B'. if you read the summary and practice problems and notes you'll do well. tests are just scenarios with 2 essays at end. i struggled but enjoyed myself
Great teacher relating all the concepts to real cases. Just go to class and take lots of notes and you will be fine :)
A very good teacher. It definitely requires work. If you read the chapters and take good notes you'll be fine. Many people just don't like this class because its not the typical class where you regurgitate information. You actually have to know the material and apply it for the tests. I've had her for 2 classes and would take her again
Best prof I've had at SLU. I learned A LOT. It's stuff that will help you outside of school when the class is over.
Very good teacher. Lectures are clear and always interesting. Tests are multiple choices and a long essay. Be ready to write. Need to read though to fully understand everything! Plus one very long term paper - easy but time consuming.
She is a GREAT teacher. She is so intelligent. In order to get a good grade you should attend class and take good notes. I only read the chapter summaries in the book and did fine. I would definately recommend taking her!
Not a nice lady, but the class is very interesting- but very hard!
Lectures are not interesting. She does have knowledge on subject but it is boring! Her tests are difficult, it tests not only your knowledge of the subject but also you ability to take a test. Tests are complex and you choose the most correct answer - it is ridiculous.
Best class I've ever taken. Finally a legal class taught by a lawyer. Epic.
She was awesome. I learned an amazing amount. Loved her everyday examples. She wrote me a recommendation and was always friendly.
Knows her stuff, very nice lady, tries to make lectures applicable, accessible, funny, and memorable. You learn A LOT but her tests are HARD (a lot of application stuff on little rules that she doesn't cover). GO TO CLASS. Her notes are invaluable. Overall I HIGHLY recommend this class, especially if you're actually interested in the field of law.
Very interesting class. Examples in class are helpful for test. Make sure to read the textbook! Tests are tough with alot of application problems. Possible service paper to replace lowest test.
Boone is a tough teacher but excels at it. She is a JD so she knows her stuff. Tests are hard and there are only 4 with a possible service learning paper to replace the lowest grade. She is very humorous and enjoys teaching and her students. I would recommend this class to anyone at SLU who even has the slightest interest in the material.
4 Tests & 1 Paper. Tests are difficult but not impossible. Probably need to read text to score above a B. Class is fairly interesting but Boone puts a conservative spin on topics. Could be worse
I had to finish the class this summer due to illness. She was so understanding and kind. Her attitude really helped me succeed.
Boone is an amazing professor. She explains everything clearly. She has 4 tests and a term paper, but she offers a service learning experience that replaces your lowest test score. The tests are difficult and definitely require knowledge of the subject. Overall I enjoyed her class and recommend taking her.
One of my favorite professors! So helpful, even beyond the class material. She is very knowledgeable and funny. The class is great but can be very challenging if you are new to the subject.
Boone is really, really tough. You have to study to do well in her class. But it is one of the most interesting classes I have taken. She is awesome, she's funny, provides real world relevant examples to help understanding. I would totally recommend her class but be ready to study.
She is a great teacher; I learned a lot in her class. Tests are more application based than they are memorization based. That makes the class more useful and more interesting.
This subject was dry for me already. This class requires you to listen the whole period so go to every class if you want to get this material. If you're interested in the content of this course, you'll be fine. If you're not, you better become its number 1 fan. If you're looking for an easy grade, please avoid her.
to quibble with someone earlier... Boone is not a patent lawyer, she is a trademark lawyer. and her questions are not badly worded, they just make you think.
She is the sweetest most helpful teacher ever! Do the service learning project (don't be intimidated, paper is an easy A). Read her example papers, go to office hours to look at old exams so you can familiarize yourself with her testing style (exams can be challenging). Learned a lot, worked hard for an A. Best law class!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Best professor I've ever had. She knows her stuff. You must attend class every day because it is a lecture based class. If you can do the service learning project. Tests are hard but on the papers she just gives out A's. I would take her again any day! Book is unnecessary if you go to class.
This was one of the best classes I've taken at SLU. Went in with little interest and ended up learning lots of useful info. If you're willing to attend every class and take good notes (which is easy since her lectures are so engaging), chances are that you'll do well and enjoy the class. Everything was straightforward; no busy work.
I came into this class dreading it. I had no interest in anything that had to do with law. Now that the semester is over I'm planning on taking another one of her classes. It's a tough class but she makes it extremely interesting and you learn a lot. Ran into an alumni who had taken her years ago and he even remembered how great a teacher she was.
She is a working patent and trademark attorney, so she is very knowledgeable. Does a good job explaining the material to people who have no previous knowledge of it. Lectures can get dull at times, but she does her best to keep people intersted by telling many examples. There are 4 tests that are tough but no cumulative final, and one 6 page paper.
One of the best courses I have taken. Don't second guess taking this course. If you're willing to put the effort in, you will find yourself learning more than you could ever imagine in such a short period and will do well. Highly recommend taking this course.
Took Boone for Biz Law 1 & 2. Incredibly knowledgeable professor, who cares about her students understanding the lecture/material. She is very funny/sarcastic. Her style is straight lecture - no powerpoints, no written notes on the board - don't let that deter you. Her tests can be difficult - lots of theory application, which is good but hard!
She was my favorite teacher while attending SLU. Go to class and take notes in order to pass. Don't buy book. Great sense of humor.
Professor Boone is one of the best teachers at SLU. She expects a lot out of her students, but at the end you will find that you learned a lot in her class. I highly recommend!
Tough, but good teacher. Her lectures can be long, so pay attention and check your notes with someone else's. Make sure to read the book and take good notes. Study by making sure you understand what is said and done. Exams are tricky and quite difficult. Go to office hours post exam to figure out what you got wrong.
Even if you show up everyday to her 8AM, she won't remember you. She will not round up your grade. Easy paper but then 4 or so tests that will most likely break your grade. However, her course always had interesting cases
Boone's classes are boring but she provides examples that make it easier for students to understand. I never looked forward to this class, but I didn't hate it. I guess in retrospect, I did learn quite a bit. If you study for the tests, you'll do fine. Meh.
Professor Boone is awesome, go to her office hours to get to know her. If you are willing to study and take detailed notes in lectures you will do fine. Follow her instructions on the exams and papers. Do the extra credit service learning because it counts for a test grade. I learned a ton from this class, it challenged me but was worth it.
She is very nice and clearly loves her job teaching law at SLU, however I did not agree with her teaching method. With a class as heavily designed on definable concepts like this one, she would not write definitions. She loves talking about law, but not very good at teaching it in a way that students fully understand
it's basically a law class. Tests are entirely unpractical application situations, no terms and definition. Used examples straight from the lecture on the essay with key terms and she gave me a 25%. She doesn't try to relate the material to people's specific fields. Especially in my 8 am class, she doesn't seem like she wants to be there.
While this professor enjoys teaching at SLU, she is a very poor professor. Her methods of teaching are not beneficial to students and if you basically want to teach yourself the class, I wouldn't recommend. Her tests are hard and although I dedicated a lot of time to studying, I still didn't receive the grade to show for that.
I had Boone for Biz 2000. I didn't read the book except to read the examples it provided in the chapters. She pulls directly from those examples for the test. Other than that, just study the notes. Interesting material, but you must pay attention to the lecture! She is very intelligent and knows a lot of information! Cool lady.
VERY hard class, but you learn so much that's relevant for everyday life. She is super willing to help people outside of class. There's 4 tests and one paper, and they're all pretty hard, but if you listen to her lectures (no powerpoint - she just talks), and study those, you should be fine
She is HARD. But an interesting teacher, and Volpe (the other biz law teacher) isn't any better. Get ready to take super detailed notes, and she just talks no powerpoints or anything. Pay attention and you'll end up with a B. Work hard and you can get an A.
Boone was hard. No sugar coating it. She has 4 tests, a term paper, and a final as your grade. Lectures are tough as its just the old school lecture with really no other aids other than the occasional chalkboard use. Take detailed notes. Go to class even though no attendance. Put in the work and you'll do well. I wish I had put in the work early on
Four tests and term paper are the only grades. AMAZING lectures that make you actually want to go to class. There's an optional service learning paper that replaces your lowest test grade. Go to EVERY class, take DETAILED notes, and memorize as much as possible for the tests. Have to work for your grade but you learn a lot. Don't buy the book!
Boone is a difficult teacher. She lectures for the entire time every class, limited student engagement. You HAVE to take very good notes or you will be lost. Also if you stop paying attention for 30 seconds you will miss 500 things that will be on the test. With that being said she knows what she is talking about, and can explain everything
Amazing professor. Every class you walk away with knowledge you can apply to the real world. Also gives really good examples and funny stories! You have to take detailed notes, study hard and make sure you really understand the concepts. But you will do well as long as you pay attention and she makes lectures interesting so this should be easy!
Boone is a very nice lady, but her class is one of the hardest courses I have taken at SLU. Do NOT skip class and take extremely detailed notes. I recommend not taking a 8 am so that you are wide awake and ready to pay attention. Prepare early for her tests. This class will make you work
I love this class! Prof Boone is a super nice woman, but she definitely makes you work for it. Notes need to be SUPER detailed. She changed her test schedule to help students during covid so instead of taking 4 big tests, we take weekly quizzes (3 short answer questions but only need to answer 2). She's tough, but overall she loves her students!
Prof. Boone is one of the best. She is challenging but if you pay attention and take good notes you should have no problem. She tells funny stories that relate to the content, and you can tell she genuinely cares about each of her students. Book is "required" but if you take good notes and study them before class, you can get away without it.
Professor Boone is super funny and smart, but her class can be difficult if you don't do the work. She doesn't use PowerPoint, so make sure to take very detailed notes. For the tests, I recommend rewatching the lectures to fill in anything you might have missed the first time you went to class. Fun professor, but a difficult class.
