She covers the material thoroughly, and lets you know which information you need to know, and which information you just need to skim. She is very friendly and helpful too!

This class is alot of fun, but is very hard if you dont try at it. She expects you to know the material, so the tests are preety hard. Dont blow this class off. But overall I recommend taking her for any class that she teaches.

I loved this teacher! She made Sociology fun and interesting. Also, she tells you exactly what to study for the tests. The only thing is I would suggest, not to miss too many of her classes. Her notes during lectures are mainly on the tests.

Laurel was an amazing teacher! She is so energetic and genuinely enthusiastic about what she teaches. Laurel makes Soc fun and interesting and helps you to see how you will do on the test in between tests with short study sessions consisting of about five questions at the beginning of class.xtracrdt

OK great lady but psycho hard tests. Her extra credit consits of a pop quiz which is worth usually two points. She gives one of those before each test. For this class she gave us only 4 tests so that's 25% of your grade right there. If your not a good test taker don't take her. I suggest taking Helms a much easier teacher.

Fantastic teacher!I was not expecting to like soc but Laurel is great.She expects you to read the book&know the material but she'll tell you exactly what you'll see on the tests.If you keep up w/ the readings, EC pop quizes help too.Even if you just go to class&listen w/o reading you should pass.If you want to learn something& have fun take Laurel.

She has a great sense of humor. She makes class exciting, but her tests are super hard. She's right when she says anything goes..book, websites, etc. Anything and everything are on her tests. Here essay questions are nothing nice. To be honest, I would opt for any other teacher but her!

Book is helpful however in taking the online course I think it would be far better to take the class in person. She uses a lot of examples especially on the tests that are no where within the lesson, powerpoint, or discussion questions. She is willing to help so that is a plus.

Tests are very in depth, but not everything comes from the book. Lectures were not always very clear, and the tests were confusing due to her attempt to be tricky/make you think harder about something than you needed to.

This teacher's classes can be difficult at times but ultimately I think they are fair. Some teachers write difficult tests in an attempt to impress themselves, others do to challange the students and I really believe she falls in the latter category. One aspect of her personality that seems to get overlooked is that she is very funny.

I thought that her class was pretty easy. Just show up (it's a plus if you go to class because she mentions a lot of stuff that will be on the test).Study the stuff she gives you. I barely read the book, probably like 5 pages worth. She explains things very well and gives good examples, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Laurel is a great teacher and enjoyed taking her classes (110 soc & psy, psy220, the only thing i didnt like was all the group work that we did, it makes it feel like you are in grade school again. But the only reason she does groups she says is to help put kids on all learning levels. Great teacher!! I would take her again for any soc or psy class

I took this class on-line. It was alright. I found that her grading on discussion boards were fair and they just required that you read the text, which was interesting. Her test were very hard and I am a pretty good student. I thought the wording was hard to understand and they consisted of applying the concepts instead of memorizing the mat'l.

I was slightly worried going in b/c I had heard that her tests were tough - which they were if you hadn't read the book. Follow her outlines that you can print of blackboard, and read your book and you will do fine. I found the material muuuch more interesting this time around than my first attempt at this course with a diff teacher last year. I lo

I had her for soc 110 shes a really nice lady that explains in detail but she makes you read chapters like crazy and her tests are HARD. I ended up dropping the class. If you commit your fullest I am sure you will do well but with other classes its hard to keep up

Loved having Laurel as a teacher. Not doing to well in her class, but thats just me. If you pay attention to the information she provides in class and read the chapters, you will pass the class no problem.

Overall, she was a good teacher, but the class in general was TOUGH. And you have to be prepared to read the textbook & attend class.

Frautschi is completely and utterly fantastic! Yes, her tests are worded a little weirdly but she definitely does not deserve 2.5 for easiness, at least not for psy220. more like a 3.4 her lectures are interesting and if you study enough, you will get the grade you deserve. i love this lady!!

Frautschi is the bomb. I was not looking forward to this class, but I ended up loving this class! She makes it very interesting and applicable to everyone's life. She really opens you eyes and minds to what is happening beyond the classroom. If you want to learn and not just go through the motions (like most ICC classes) take Frautschi. She rocks.

Great teacher! For being at a boring class at 8am mwf, she kept things pretty upbeat and interesting. would recommend taking her! she used the book a lot, but if you read the chapters, or at least got most of the main points, you'll do fine. the questions at the end of the chapters are very helpful on quizzes.

Took this class online very easy to follow. Instructor is very responsive to questions and emails. All grades readily available. Very well organized. you can work ahead.

This is one of the most energetic and engaging professors I've had in a long time. She really knows her stuff and spends time trying to get people to understand the topics at hand. Very willing to work with students if needed.I thought this class was also really one of those you'd carry for life, and I think she realizes the importance of the topic

I absolutley loved taking Intro to Soc with ms. frautschi. She is probably my favorite teacher. I got an A, and I never studied hard at all. The study guide she gives you is 80% of your test. Be sure to look at the chapter review and sample test questions as well - that's where she gets alot of her material

Laurel is an incredible professor-She makes every class interesting & explains everything very thoroughly. Laurel is a phenomenal professor. Not only does she know her stuff and make it very easy for individuals not familiar with sociology or psychology to understand the topics, but she is also very interested in her students on a personal level. Would recommend her 100% for any class she teaches!

I took this class online and it was totally worth it. I put a decent amount of time into the class - but it wasn't hard. You NEED the book - read all of the outer text boxes and stories, they will be on the test. The tests are applying information. There are 3 discussion questions for every test, do all 12 get extra credit. Outlines for chapters.

I have never taken an online class before, but I took this one with her. She has a discussion board a week that are very easy, all you have to do s participate, then you get 5 points. You DO have to read the book and pay attention though because the tests are pretty tough, they pull out specific details from the book that are hard to find.

This is the perfect teacher for this type of course. She knows her stuff so well it is inspirational to see someone understand things in such a rational way. You do HAVE to work and study for this class but it is all worth it for the knowledge you receive.

This is a very easy online class. It is composed of quizzes, tests, and discussion boards. The textbook that is used it an easy read and as long as you study and fill out the outlines, you are fine. The requirements for passing the class are simply and easy to follow... She also gets back to you in record time compared to other teachers.

The class was a little tricky because professor frautschi was in an accident and missed a good chunk of the semester. But the time she was there she was very understanding and caring about her students. By the end of the semester she could even point out who you were friends with on class. She was very kind and caring and I would take her again.

By far my favorite professor at ICC. Tests were hard but she makes outlines for each chapter that has basically everything you need to know for the tests. And if you pay attention in class we discuss all the information you need to know for each essay on the exams. She makes the material relevant and interesting, and is always willing to help you!!

She is the definition of a great teacher. Her lectures are engaging, thoughtful, and best of all applicable to real life situations. She loves what she teaches and wants to share her knowledge with her students. One of the best teachers at Illinois Central College.

Laurel is extremely knowledgeable and approachable. She is very big into class discussions during lecture, so participate in them otherwise you will get called on even when you're not raising your hand. Reading is extremely important in her class. Most of the information on her tests come directly from the textbook, not her PowerPoints or outlines.

This professor really inspired me to be a better student. She's unbiased to opinions in lectures which is hard to do. I appreciated her care for my participation even though I found her tests to be strenuous. After two semesters with her I would say read as much as you can, and participate. She will notice. Would recommend to any hard worker.

I went through her online course for this subject. Participation is a part of your grade as homework through the discussion board. She almost always gave feedback on on any discussions and would bring up interesting points to enhance the subject. Exams are a little difficult and found them hard to grade high.

Laurel is the most personable/approachable professors I have ever encountered and the fact that she teaches at ICC makes me have a much better outlook on community college than I ever had. She inspires me so much to be who I want to be and could describe me to a T and guide me through this semester. 3 her. best soc. teacher ever & so much more.

I took Intro to Soc last semester and absolutely loved it! Everything that was on the test was in the notes. She is super nice and really cares about you. As long as you pay attention in class, and study, it's easy to pass.

This class was fairly easy. 3 exams 2 easy papers and a short discussion board post every week. She is a very good professor and emails back fast with good feedback. If you dont like assigned reading I would NOT advise you take this class online. You have to read the material and learn it yourself on your own time and it requires discipline.

This is one of the best professors at ICC, she cares about each one of her students and will help you in any way possible. She will make time for you during her office hours, even if it is not about the class your taking. She will take time out her busy day to make you know the material and will help you during the tests as much as she can.

Laurel is amazing. It's been some time since I've been at school, and she was exactly what I needed to boost me into productivity. She is very smart, really funny, and really wants you to do well. Use her office hours! She really guides you through the tests. Get ready to read, participate and really get into sociology. I highly recommend her!

This class was more difficult than anticipated. However, the professor is great. She gives great lectures and study material! I was never left hanging to teach myself even though it was online. If you put in the work, youll get the grade. Interesting material! I learned a lot about myself in this class. Would take again!!!

Laurel is a very personable professor that cares about her students and grades. If you don't like reading, it's not for you. She provides a study guide that literally have some actual test questions on them. It's a critical thinking class so make sure you know the vocab. If there is an SI class that is offered, take it in conjunction for an A.

Very clear cut instructions and although I literally had to read the whole textbook chapter by chapter to prepare for assignments I really enjoyed the course/subject material. Caring professor with a reasonable amount of homework. Learned a lot about myself in the process too :) Would take again!

Laurel is always a good professor. Great outlines helping read each chapter of the book. Do the study guides for extra credit. Easy grader. Not a ton of stuff to be graded on so you have to do well on everything. Exams can be difficult if you do not understand what is going on. She doesn't teach anything online so be prepared to do it on your own.

Assignment directions are easy to follow along with and doesn't assign too much work

Frautschi is the best professor I've had so far at ICC. She offers extra credit, responds to emails quickly, and is very understanding/caring both in person and online. The tests can be difficult, but you will get a decent grade if you read the book/fill out the study guides. I recommend taking this professor for sociology or psychology class.

I loved having Laurel as my teacher! This is the 2nd class I have taken with her because she is that good. Very kind woman and builds relationships with her students. Class is not hard to pass as long as you do the work. You will NEED to know the information for the exams but she makes sure you know it. EC opportunities are available! Best teacher!
