Dr. Genova is what the 5 point rating says - a real gem. I have class with her earlier in the morning and she makes getting up worthwhile. She never fails to brighten my day and is a genuinely caring professor. She does her best to make the chemistry work understandable and welcomes questions.

No. Seriously. A real GEM! She's the most understanding person I have ever met. If you email her with ANY problem you have, she is more than happy to help, especially if you're nice and respectful. Don't be fooled by how young she is, she's already a great professor and I know she's going to be even better over the years. Dr. Genova? Amazing.

The exams had NO surprises and most of the problems looked similar to examples given in class. The only problem was the associated lab but that is another professor & another rating.

Super friendly and tries to get to know all her students. According to a TA, someone once didn't even do a problem on an exam, but did it in her office hours and got full points for it.

Dr. Burke is very knowledgeable about the topics and she genuinely enjoys teaching the course. She's very helpful when it comes to catching up with lab work or if you have any questions about anything. She works closely with the TAs running the discussions, which makes everything much easier. Material is a bit difficult if you haven't taken chemistry in high school, but she makes her own slides that are extremely helpful (you don't need to read textbook). There are some webassign hws but you have unlimited attempts (use them!). Available for help for lectures and LAB.

Dr. Genova completely changed my mind on chemistry. I hated it before, and she actually made me consider minoring in it. Don't be fooled by the class name though. Despite it being "general" chemistry, the course moved at a rapid pace (to keep up with the lab) and I had to study chem 3-4 hours a day to keep my grade at a B. She is a saint though.

She is so kind and wants you to succeed. She actually teaches the class and doesn't expect you to have any prior knowledge. We had three exams and a final and all were pretty easy when you study.

Dr. G is an amazing professor who really cares about all of her students and wants each and every one of them to succeed. Chemistry was hard for me but she made it much easier to manage and gives many opportunities to better your grade. she did not expect you to have any prior knowledge of chemistry and covered everything very well during lectures.

Class was a little test heavy, but Dr. G is a GOAT so it balances out

She does give a lot of homework and exams, but she is an amazing professor and person. She is incredibly kind and cares about her students. She also tries to make it as entertaining as possible. Her disscussion sections are hit or miss, some of them feel irrelvant to the material. Exams are quite challenging.

Dr. G made this class so much more enjoyable than anyone else could've. I'm not great at chemistry at all but she's the reason I passed. She's so caring and if you talk to her when you're struggling, she wi help you. I can't recommend her more.

TAKE GENOVA! I love her, she made sure her students got A's and helped during lab tremendously!

She is amazing, always willing to help everyone no matter what time it is. I had emailed her about chem lab which isnt a part of this course but she was willing to help even though it was 11pm. Genova is always willing to understand what you are going through and help you navigate that in a way that will help you in her class and motivate you!

I LOVE HER... but if you are behind in the material, you are screwed :) so good luck! Chem is absolutely horrendous, and I don't wish the class on my worst enemy.

Omg! I love Dr. Genova! She's JUST the BEST! I've went through AWFUL chem educators.. and taking a general chem class with Dr. Genova was ABSOUTELY amazing! I learnt SOO much. She literally laid out a GREAT/SOLID foundation in chem for me! So I feel SUPER confident in going to harder chem classes in the future! Also- She's SUPER SWEET!

Dr. Genova is great. Extremely caring and understanding. You need to be able to study for this class, as the practice problems she gives are few and usually much easier than exam questions. Extremely easy to reach out to, responds very fast, genuinely cares for her students. Make sure you put in work outside of lecture and you'll do fine.

Dr. Genova is by far one of the best professors at the University of Delaware! She has the kindest soul and cares so much for her students. She answers emails so quickly and does everything she can to help you out if you're struggling with a concept. She also tries her hardest to get to know each student individually. Definitely recommend her class

She makes learning chem so simple! At first I struggled, but after reaching out to her and getting some tips, I understood everything so much better. Don't be afraid to reach out to her if you're struggling, she will always be willing to help. 10000/10 professor. Love her!

Shes sooo sweet and makes everything easy to understand. However beware the test averages are usually in the 50's this class is not easy and you need to study ALOT to do well on exams.

I love Professor Genova, she was my advisor when I was starting out at UD and is the sweetest soul. She is so so helpful, and so easy to meet with or talk to outside of class time. The CHEM164 class is a great segway into the chemistry department, and she is a great person to teach it. Super easy!

I took TR class so lectures were long and sometimes she would drag on explaining things but she wants you to succeed. She's extremely personable and will take the time to talk to each one of her students after class. Tests were similar to problems done during class. She answers emails pretty quickly and is very kind. Not a bad prof for a chem class

I loved her! She's so sweet. Exams are tough but plenty of resources help you prepare. She gives hints for short answers, which make up most of the grade. The final project boosts your score. Attendance is via PollEverywhere. With good notes and studying, you'll pass!

She is very nice and informative. This class was a simple 1 credit required class, but there was no exams and she always brought us food!

Literally one of the sweetest professors you will meet. So nice and is very good at simplifying hard to understand topics. Overall just an amazing professor and amazing person! If you're taking chem definitely try to have her.

Do not forget to do the polls — they can seriously make or break your grade. She's a really nice teacher outside of class, but if you don't put in the effort to study on your own, you're basically cooked. I personally wouldn't take this class again, but to be fair, you could definitely end up with worse teachers.

BEST chemistry teacher ever. Literally the most caring professor and person you'll ever meet. She wants her students to do well so if you ever have an issue with anything just talk to her and she'll understand. I don't think I've ever seen her without a smile on her face. Tests are difficult but that's because of the subject lol

If I could, I would choose to take her class every semester. Genuinely one of the best professors out there who wants her students to succeed. As long as you get the work done, participate in the polls, and attend the mandatory workshops, then you're set.

Amazing professor, super sweet and nice and clearly loves chemistry. But at the end of the day if you're not good at chem having a great professor won't do much it's up to you, but if you have to take chem definitely take it with her! -
