One of the best storytellers, makes anthropology come alive! Very helpful when it comes to tests.

This is one of the easiest classes offered at las po. Not only is it SUPER easy, but you learn a lot as well. Lauren is an awesome teacher and is quite passionate about what she does. If you get a chance take her class you wont regret it.

this teacher rocks. The class is very easy, yet the material is very interesting to learn about. She also tries to get to know everyone in the class on a more personal level- she's very easy to talk to. I wouldn't leave LasPo without taking her class

First of all, she is one of the nicest and funest teachers I've ever had. Her lectures are totally interesting. Its the only class I've actually enjoyed. She is very easy and gives TONS of extra credit. She will answer every question and quickly respond to emails. cant go wrong here!!

I highly recommend her Anth 3 class above the others. You are atually given the opportunity to write your own mini-Ethnography. Most students don't have this opportunity until they get to the graduate level. You'll remember the info she taught you years later, she's that good.

Absolutely the best teacher I have ever had! She is very clear and teaches the material extremely well. Her tests are short and easy, and the way she teaches you just rememver everything. Lauren makes learning a fun experience, she is an amazing person! I recommend any of her classes.

Lauren is a fun teacher and there is next to no daily homework. The project will KILL you though, especially if you have no free time. It's impossible to pass the class if you do poorly on the project. If given the choice, I wouldn't take the class again.

Lauren is not only an amazing teacher but she is a strong and admirable person. She is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject. Work outside of class is minimal but you will learn so much. It's easy because she is such a good teacher. She is the teacher whose students are disappointed if her class is cancelled!

Lauren is awesome, she is one of the most fair teacher i've had at LPC. Her lectures are fun and her tests are always on things we learned in class, totems, and text book, she will never quiz you on something she didn't teach. The only thing i wish was different is that she made the final project worth more than 10 or 15 points

Lauren is AMAZING. I took anth 1,2,3and 12 with her...She encourages participation and gives points so go at least once a week and ask a question or comment. She lectures well, and its soo interesting and you will remember everything she says. helps you prepare for test and they are easy and fast.

Going to class is worth it, because she makes lectures interesting. and you get points for participating. but there is TON of reading thats hard to keep up on. not alot of points total for the class, so even the 2 point reading quizzes each week can kill you. excellent teacher, but the class itself is on the harder side.

If your taking anthro 1 wuth this teacher, well she is the greatest!!! one of my best teachers ever and easiest too!...u do use a book but she doesnt go over it during class. midterm and final is based off her lecture so go to class and u will get an A on her class..tests are super easy!!!!!!

This was the second time i took her class, and she remains the best teacher i have ever had! she is passionate and very animated with life and with her classes. She will so ANYTHING for her students and make sure that people understand the material. GO TO CLASS, PARTICIPATE, TAKE NOTES! dont get behind on the paper, you will regret it.

I had no interest in Anthropology prior to taking Hastens Social/Cultural Anth class. It was not only interesting and never a dull class but it was also an easy class to pass while still givng you a challenge if you are looking for one. Our only homework is a weekly 3 question quiz and a Ethnography as a final project, and a final exam. Thats it!

This class is based on weekly participation in class, online reading and quizzes, and a 10-page paper. Overall, it's easy but the readings can be boring and annoying to keep up with. I wouldn't recommend this class to people who don't want to go out and spend time writing a paper on a group of people (involving interviews, etc.)

i've been a student for a while and hasten is one of the best professors i've had. i wish all my teachers were like her. she loves her students, can make the most boring topic interesting in lecture, is extremely knowledgeable, and FUNNY. the class is easy (she wants you to get an A), and is available and helpful to everyone. highly recommended!

She's hilarious and really enjoys teaching, loves learning from her students and is wonderfully intelligent and charming. Best teacher I have ever had. I have no interest in Anthropology and now I am majoring in it thanks to her. My politics and beliefs pretty different than hers, but she was super fair minded in her lessons, and deeply cared about her students progress. This class is easy because it is so interesting it doesn't feel like learning. 143

As with any class, you get the most out of it if you take part in discussion and she puts a lot of emphasis on participation. In Anth 3, the term paper is everything to her, so put your best into it. I really dislike Anthropology, but Lauren is so supportive, caring, intelligent, encouraging, and helpful that I didn't mind taking her class.

She's a great teacher that knows her material. She makes the class very interesting with her enthusiasm. Weekly quizzes were pretty easy. I'm pretty sure there was no hw. She wants everyone to participate at least once a week for points, but I managed to get an A without saying a single word. There are extra credit field trips near the end of sem.

She is a very energetic teacher. Very knowledgeable on the subject. You are given an index card at the begining of the semester. As long as you participate your card is taken each week. Show up and talk and you will do fine. The quizes are all online and have a week to do them plus open book, internet, or whatever you want.

AWESOME teacher. Lectures all class, but makes it exciting and interesting. Total baller as a teacher. Definitely take her over the other anthro teachers. Tests are short/easy and only include info she covered in depth in class. Easy 4 question online quiz a week is the only reason you need a textbook. Great class, great teacher.

The class is easy, and exiting as long as you REMEMBER TO DO EVERYTHING. The whole class is worth 105 points, andd i could not remember for the life of me to take the online quizes over the weekends. They are easy, but everytime you forget you lose 2 points. Or 2% off your final grade. I got a B in the class.

Lauren is by far the best teacher I have ever had. I'm majoring business and have an interest in business and law but Lauren's class is just relaxing due to my other hard classes. She's all about the final paper, I learned a whole lot about cultures and I think in ways I never did before; she mentally made me a smarter person. UC material teacher.

All exaggeration aside, Hasten is one of the best teachers I have ever taken a class from. The class is simple and here lectures are easy to understand. Come to class, read the book, and take the 10 minute quiz each week. If you do that, I guarantee you will do well. It couldn't be any simpler.

Lauren is an AMAZING teacher. She had the secondhand in making me want to become an Anthropologist myself. She is honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. I missed about 6 classes, and still Aced both her midterms. Her tests are easy, her class is entertaining, and she is awesome!

Lauren Hasten is a very good teacher. It is very hard to read her handwriting when you have to take notes but other than that it is simple. Barely any homework, there is an online quiz every week and thats about it. i reccommend taking her.

As long as you get started with it early enough you'll be fine. She gives clear instructions. No exams and no homework. There are weekly online quizzes but they are very easy. Awesome class.

Lauren is the BEST professor at Las Positas. Her lectures are so interesting, and she is hilarious. She is willing to help you anytime.

HIGHLY RECCOMEND her she is the best teacher at Las PO, and you are basically just discussing things in class and she has a very open mind she does treat you equal and always willing to hear you out or clarify things, she is definitly my fav teacher and I'm hoping to take her just for fun because I did my required course.

Online reading quiz every week, midterm and final were a little harder than expected. Lauren is a very interesting individual. DO WHAT SHE ASSIGNS and you will do great; do as much as you can, at least. The reading can be a bit dense, but just power through it. Study for the midterm and final by using the online quiz results (the questions are directly from the quizzes). Sit up front. She has bad handwriting. Wonderful teacher!

This is my second semester with Lauren. I enjoyed Anth1 (Physical) more than Anth3 (Cultural) as far her anthropology classes go. She does rant and rave extensively in Anth3, and it becomes redundant. That being said, Lauren is an awesome individual. She is super intelligent, kind-hearted, and helpful. She's also quite fair. Just do your part.

The best CC professor I have had! I took her class Fall 2011 and loved doing the ethnographic paper. I am now at UC Davis with a minor in Cultural Anthropology because of her class. Her teaching style is excellent and I cannot recommend her enough.

Yet another positive review for Lauren Hasten but it is WELL-DESERVED! No interest at all in anthro at first- and her teaching methods, personality, and content has made me fall in love with this subject! There is homework load- like a big essay, and tests. But all so doable if you pay attention and study, which she makes easy! WHERE HAVE YOU GONE?

Lauren is absolutely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Because of her, I'm interested in minoring in Anthropology. I took Anthro 3, and that was one of the most interesting and thought provoking classes I've ever taken. No textbook, but there is reading. All I can say is do your online quizzes, and take your ethnography seriously.

I found Lauren to be a fantastic professor. She let you know exactly what she expected from you. She may came off as intimidating in the beginning, however everyone warms up to her after a couple of lectures. Keep up with the reading because the quizzes can definitely catch you off guard! Exams were not that difficult.

She's an awesome teacher. Super passionate about the subject, so she tries to pack a lot of information into each lecture. It can be a lot, but it's never boring. Great professor. Super laid-back yet intelligent. Her class focus is anthropology but you learn more than that. She wants you to succeed and do well. Weekly readings are very VERY dense. Pop quizzes are somewhat easy but ONLY if you do the readings. Midterm was much harder than expected. One of the harder classes I've taken but Lauren is legit.

Lauren is the best professor I've ever had. She's incredibly helpful and makes the class extremely fun. Her lectures are intriguing and interactive. There's weekly homework quizzes online, but they're only 4 questions and she gives you an unlimited amount of tries to get the right answers. No papers, just the midterm and final. She is a great and enthusiastic professor! She made my first semester of college interesting and fun. For the quizzes you HAVE to read the material; there is no way around getting the answer. There is an ethnography at the end of the semester, it is fun to research, but it is a huge paper so don't blow it off!

Her lectures were very engaging. She gives a point for participating you can earn once a week! There are pop quizzes, but she tells you ahead of time when it's coming. She's very nice! Cares about her students and is eager to help.

Weekly quizzes to make sure you did the reading, and online midterm and final test. 2 essays that he lets you turn in early so you can get a preliminary grade, and tells you how to fix them. Don't really have to attend class, just make sure all the work gets done and you're good!

This is my second course with Prof. Hasten. Such a wonderful professor and just wants students to pass and understand whats going on in class. Gives many extra credit opportunities. Easy going, hw and midterm and final are basically your grade. Made me really love the course and is so understanding if you missed a deadline, he will work with you.

Probably my absolute favorite class and teacher at LasPo. Hasten made class so easy because the enthusiasm Hasten had was incredible and you could not help but leave every class with so much more knowledge in your head I'm actually about to take another class from Hasten and I'm excited.

Hasten is an amazing professor, you can receive extra credit just by participating and posting your notes on blackboard. He makes sure everyone understands the material, there are quizzes every week on blackboard on readings but they're extremely easy! you learn some pretty cool stuff and he's always there if you need help.

Absolutely one of the best instructors i've ever had! I didn't know a thing about Anthropology or even what it was when I first started taking it, but now I love it and look forward to the class everyday. He makes the class super fun, interesting and is super passionate about teaching ! Always there for any students struggling.

Really amazing professor. Took this class as an easy A (which it is), but am actually learning very much, and even took advantage of the embedded honors project. Professor Hasten is a really interesting man with lots of stories to help you remember terms, and his exuberance on the topic is absolutely infectious. Take his classes!

LW was probably one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had. Am enrolled in another one of his classes next semester. Honors seminar was so interesting and a great way to expand my interests. Love love love. Possibly changing my major because of him, genuinely interested in students and their well being. So helpful in class and out.

His class was amazing and it was really easy to understand what was taught. The only difficulty was that he gave out readings to do, but they weren't that bad. The Midterm and Final Exam are extremely easy to study for because all questions came from the homework questions. I wish I could have him as my professor for my next anthropology class.

He has a lot of compassion for people, so I honestly would highly recommend him to someone who is going through it, but is still trying to get an education. He has a lot of fun stories, but overall is clear and effective in teaching the subject at hand.

Lucas is an absolutely amazing prof, so much so I took two of his classes and would take more if I could! Very relaxed, funny, and knows how to keep the class engaged. Very clear requirements. His lectures were so informative but entertaining at the same time. He missed some classes but he ended up taking off assignments he didnt explain enough!
