One of my favorite teachers. She's funny, kind, willing to help, and very relatable to the students. Extremely knowledgable in her subject. You'll have to work to get an A; a lot of written work like essays and responses.

she is very fun and knows what she is talking about. Additionally, she helps the student all the way through the class and tryes to make it interesting

She's my favorite teacher. She's witty, funny, and totally loopy, all of which I appreciate. She is also quite knowledgeable, and has a doctorate. She's very kind and enjoys discussions with her students very much.She's also quite open. I took her for 1B because I enjoyed her 1A class so much. I definitely recommend her.

One of the best teachers i've ever had. Informative, very helpful, and funny. I did have to put in some effort, but i got an A. She really wants her students to pass and she is willing to work with anyone who needs help. loved her class. taking her 1C class next!

She is one of the most knowledgeable and awesomest teacher at shasta college. She is not one of those teachers who pretends to care about the students. She really does. She helps her students and works with them so they pass the class. In the class had to write a few essays but she is a great teacher so its not too bad. I highly recommend her.

Definitely one of my favorite instructors on this campus. Very good teacher, keeps things interesting, very fair, and funny as well. The class itself is not very hard either. You have to write several essays, but that's about it (it's English after all...) I highly recommend this professor!

Mrs. Hollingsworth is an awesome teacher! I have hated English for as long as I can remember and she actually made it fun. I actually wanted to make it to class! Several essays, but they're not hard if you go to class because she pretty much walks you through how to do them. She grades very fair too! Highly recommend taking her class!

Best English Teacher Ever!

Aside from her constant need to talk and do her ridiculous laugh she does. She is a fantastic teacher and you get use to the fact of her being so forward.

Great teacher! I love her sense of humor and silly stories... I also love that she loves musicals like I do. Her note taking and outline strategies are amazingly helpful. If you do the work, you will pass. Also, she's SMOKIN HOT! hehe

She's the best English teacher that I have had. She is so very helpful when a student doesn't understand something. She makes English interesting, and tells stories. When she does, they always come back around to make a point about the lesson. Good laugh too.

Lauren runs a high-energy class. She is very bright, very personable and eager to help all of her students excell. Her classes are interesting and informative. She has a delightful sense of humor that helps put her students in a receptive mood to learn. She is tall and very striking. She's a great teacher and a lovely person.

I love Ms. Hollingsworth... She loves teaching, and except teacher and police unions, she is very open minded and does not judge anyone for their opinion. She holds your hand through every single essay and welcomes outside interaction, whether it be in her office or via email. I am planning on taking her class next semester!

Mrs. Hollingsworth is a very happy-go-lucky kind of teacher who is never in a bad mood when she enters the class. Very encouraging and if you get to know her, this class will be enjoyable to go to. There is a lot of reading and she gives out random pop quizzes on SOME of the reading. Rarely gives A's on essays, but doesn't destroy them either.

She is a good teacher, very happy and kind. However, she has strange grading criteria. She doesn't seem to ever give higher than an A- , even if the essay has only very minor mistakes.

Best English teacher I've had, extremely funny and kind. Walks you through the tough essays, and as long as you do the assignments it's hard to get a bad grade. Love that she talks about random stuff, I learned about more than just English in that class. There needs to be more teachers like her.

great teacher. her class is not boring! you do however write A LOT of essays in 1A. but she is very helpful and she encourages students to email her for help. it is a lot of work but it is not hard. if you are trying to pass the class, you will. she also has a sence of humor that makes her very appealing.

Absolutely loved this class. Hollingsworth is an incredible teacher. Also took her for Eng1A and managed to get an A in both of her classes. She is very entertaining and has a great sense of humor. Would take her class again if given the chance.

she majored in english so when writing your papers bring your A+ game because dang i don't know how i got a b, thankful tho! other then that she's cool, a little looney but on the good side, lots of reading, read and you should do well no prob

Great Professor! I am not an English fanatic and she made the class bearable and entertaining! She does require that you read through the text and the papers that she assigns do take work. If you put the effort in you will do well! She is more than willing to help her students if they put in the work as well. I highly recommend her!

She is the best English teacher I've ever had!

I love her! She is hilarious and so smart. I love how she makes everyone feel like an equal instead of insignificant. There are many 2 page papers and four 5+ page papers. The work is not too hard though.

She is a great teacher and very personable. She's genuinely interested in her students and very forgiving if an assignment is late. Her classes are the most entertaining and interesting I've ever been in.

Lauren Hollingsworth is hands down the best English teacher I've ever had! And on top of that she is a very fun and easy going person. If you come to class and actually make an effort you will get no lower than a 'B' in the class guaranteed. I recommend her to anyone enrolling in English 1a, 1b or 1c!

Love her class. Very clear formula for creating essays. Good sense of humor. Lets you talk about related topics with the class. Will definitely take again. You can ace this class if you work at it and do the reading!

Remarkable English Professor. If you hate English, and struggle in it then take this professor! She practically writes the essays for you, and as long as you do your work an A is super easy to get. The perfect English professor to take is you're a science major. There is a lot of reading (that I never did) and I still aced this class. Love her!

Amazing teacher! She explains everything thoroughly and gives good examples of what she is looking for in the papers you have to write. She grades fairly and is a great professor. The in-class discussions are entertaining and fun. I highly recommend this teacher to anyone who has to take this class.

Mrs. Hollingworth is an energetic and informative teacher. I've learned so much more than just how to write an essay in her class. By far my favorite class I have taken. I look forward to it every day. The essays are a breeze it you follow along with her lecture and note taking. Highly recommend this class.

She was an absolutely amazing teacher. she showed an interest in her students that a lot of professors fail to do. She has a way of explaining things to where the is no confusion and if there ever is she was always ready to help. Loved the class!

She is a hilarious instructor that's passionate about reading literature. If you love to read, this is the class for you. The reading requirement is really high, about 120 pages a week. Besides the reading you have 8 response papers(which aren't that hard), 4 essays that are 5-6 pages, and quizzes. Very entertaining class, but lots of reading.

She basically requires you to revise paper to get an A. Take note of whatever grade you get on your first paper will be your final grade in the class if you turn everything in. At least she gave me the same grade on every paper within 1 or 2 points. Great teacher, but if you want a 4.0 GPA I do not recommend unless you have time to revise a paper.

The Instructor is hilarious, the response papers are not that hard, but the essays are hard to pick a subject from. While their is a lot of reading involved, I suggest that you love to read or you will be left behind. The class wasn't that bad, I just didn't like writing the essays, plus it was hard to attempt to get an A on any of them.

Hollingsworth is the best. She's super energetic, super funny, and her lectures are always interesting and engaging. Don't be afraid to ask for help, take notes in her lectures, and you will do great in her class.

Professor Hollingsworth is an awesome teacher! She is just hilarious! Her class never feels like an actual class because she is always cracking jokes. Her lectures are clear and thorough. A very easy class! She will definitely help out if you have any questions. I highly recommend her for English!

Mrs. Hollingworth is a great teacher. We have a lot of class discussions that are interesting, and as long as you do good on the essays you will pass the class. Even if you don't do the reading or the journals she assigns. She tells you exactly what she wants on essays and is a nice, caring person all around.

She made an uninteresting class very enjoyable. Plan on reading every night for optimal success. Highly recommended

Lauren is one of the best teachers at Shasta College. As long as you put actual effort into your work and show up, you will get a good grade. She understands that not everyone is a first class writer. She's hilarious and very kind. She facilitates a safe classroom environment for everyone regardless of race, sex, religious background etc. Love her!

Lauren is one of the best teachers I had at Shasta college. She was helpful, clear, and so funny! Loved her 1A class. Textbooks were inexpensive as well

Hollingsworth is probably my favorite teacher at Shasta, period. She made every class fun, which made all the reading bearable. 1B was quite a bit of reading, and not really my genre, but I'd gladly take this class every semester if she was teaching it. Also, if you're unable to make class, she'll usually let you email it so you don't miss points.

She's super funny in lectures! As long as you try on something, she gives you a great score.

Hollingsworth is a rarity at Shasta. She is professional but isn't afraid to get personal either. She is a somewhat slow grader but her grading is clear and she's available to students almost always through email. Her class is not easy. There is serious work involved if you want to pass. But, do all the work and it'll be hard to get a failing grade

Professor Hollingsworth gets the chili pepper for sure! Amazing teacher who could double as a comedian. Very caring and very straightforward. All assignments are perfectly explained and the class is really as easy as you make it. You're just going to have to do the reading my friend. Take Hollingsworth, you will not be disappointed.

By far my favorite English teacher EVER! She's hilarious, kind, and honest. Never a dull lecture in her class! She explained all assignments perfectly-step by step, which made writing essays easy! All you have to do is actually put the work in. I highly recommend her for any of your English class!

This was my favorite class of the semester. You definitely have to read, but the reading material she chooses is interesting. She is hilarious and her lectures are fun. She is clear about her grading process and is available for help. She will occasionally give quizzes in the morning but they aren't difficult if you have done the reading.

One of the best teachers I've had. Took 1B and 1C Honors and was legitimately sad when the semester was over. Hilarious lectures, easy quizzes if you read, and midterms and finals are relatively easy. You can get buy without reading the textbook, but it can screw you over on a pop quiz day. Controversial topics abound.

She is an awesome teacher. She gives great feedback on your essays and makes the class very entertaining.

LOTS of reading! Class is fun and Lauren is hilarious! The reading material is very interesting and easy to read. Try not to fall behind for there are pop quizes on the reading material about every other week. Choose your own topic for essays (5). Her grading is confusing, easy on quizes and h/w, tough on essays! Pay attention to her notes!

If you hate writing like I do, Lauren is the teacher for you! She gives you the exact structure she wants for each essay (on top of plenty of examples) - so there's never a doubt about what you're supposed to do to get a good grade. She's really amazing and willing to help out. The only way to fail her(or any) class is to start your essays at 2am.

Absolutely LOVED 1C with her! Best class at Shasta, by far! So hilarious, loves what she's teaching and makes it entertaining, understandable and enjoyable for everyone. She's helpful one-on-one, learns students' names, and cares enough to leave comments on every paper. Material is interesting and overall a GREAT experience for a mandatory class.

Lauren Hollingsworth is great! I toom her 1A class my first semester and I liked her so much that I took her 1B class this last semester. She has an absolutely amazing sense of humor, and her classes are never boring. She is always eager to help and very accessible if you have questions. As long as you read what she assigns, you're sure to do well.

Mrs. Hollingsworth is an amazing English teacher. She is full of energy and and hilarious. Lectures are really helpful with how to write your papers and clear with what she expects with them. I am a better writer after taking her class! Do the reading for random quizzes, and do the journals for easy points. I will be taking her again for Eng 1c.

If you hate essays, TAKE HER CLASS! She is FUNNY (I LAUGHED A LOT!) and will help you TONS! Her class is not for slackers but she will make it great! She will HELP you every step of the way! Her grading is very fair, & she allows you to re-do an essay (turned in on time) to get a better grade. SHE IS AMAZING! I saw so many in class being helped!

Dr. Hollingsworth has been my favorite teacher at Shasta so far. I recommend her to anyone I can who is looking to take English. I always have an enjoyable time in her class, and the work is always interesting.

She is genuinely so nice I messed up on a paper and she gave me a full chance to rewrite it I was so thankful. She is also hilarious and really easy to listen to and actually makes class enjoyable. You write a lot of essays but she gives good feedback and grades them fast. 10/10 would recommend.

Dr. Hollingsworth is an exceptional professor who is very understanding and helpful. She is always available, whether it is after class, during her office hours, or via email. She is hilarious and grades mostly on the essays, but doing the journals and quizzes are extremely beneficial. I would definitely recommend her for anyone taking Eng1A.

Just like every other English class, theres a ton of essays. BUT she gives you plenty of time and instructions to get it easily done. (DONT DO IT LAST MINUTE! THESE ESSAYS ARE MORE THAN 6 PAGES!) If English is not your strong subject, like me, probably get some help in advance cause I never did and I mostly got C's on these essays. Great teacher.

Dr. Hollingsworth was super funny all the time. She makes fun of herself and her lectures are pretty easy to follow. There is a lot of reading assigned but honestly I only looked through the book once and made it through. There are many essays that require lots of research and thorough understanding of the prompts.

This class will require reading and effort and it's totally worth it. Dr. Hollingsworth is hilarious, kind, and approachable. Lectures are very fun and interesting. I learned a lot from this class that will prepare me for more difficult classes after I transfer.

Okay, so I took ENG1A by Lauren as well and she's absolutely incredible. Her lectures make writing each essay the easiest it could ever be. I hate writing and I'm horrid at it, but Lauren made it so easy. It's almost impossible to get it wrong becuase she tells you exactly what she wants you to write, and how to write it. 10/10

Lauren is very straightforward in what she wants you to do. If you have any questions, she takes the time to answer them. She teaches how she wants you to write the papers she assigns. She teaches you how to take notes for different kinds of papers, as well as how to create an outline that will help you fill the page requirements. Excellent teacher

I mean it's an english class so there will be reading and writing, however she is a really good teacher. I think she's funny and she cares about everyone.

L Hollingsworth is HILARIOUS. She makes the class environment low pressure and fun to learn. She brings up really good points that are relevant to current events. There's definitely work, but if you complete all assignments you should pass easily.

I loved the anthology used in this class. She allows students quite a bit of freedom when writing, and many of the assignments in this course were interesting and informative. However, in the last few weeks of the semester I felt like I had so many essays to do in such a short amount of time. Workload gets heavy so be ready for that

She is a very sweet woman, and is understanding! You will do a fair share of writing, but she's not super harsh on you. The only tip is that you make sure to double-check instructions. She will always give you feedback and is very positive. She a very happy person and her class is fun to take. I took it over summer and it wasn't overwhelming. 10/10

Professor Hollingsworth is highly responsive. Her grading is very clear, and her class is easy to follow online. She is also very funny through her online modules. Highly recommend taking her ENGL1B class online.

I took this class as a summer condensed class so it was pretty difficult but Hollingsworth was very understanding and took it pretty easy on us.

Professor Hollingsworth is an understanding and caring professor. She's likely to give extensions if asked and with sound reasoning. Everything other than the essays and quizzes is graded on a simple "did it or didn't do it" so if you did the assignments and met all criteria, you're getting an 'A'. just keep an eye out for due dates!

Professor Hollingsworth was a great teacher. She gives an outline of the entire semester with the syllabus. Every assignment is very clear and she tells you exactly how to write all of the major papers. Her lectures were very engaging and interesting. Requiring 3 text books was a downside to the class.

College level English is just hard, but Mrs. Hollingsworth takes you step-by-step and is a great instructor. I took her for 1A and 1C and highly recommend her and would take her again in a heartbeat. Excellent teacher!

Lauren is by far the best professor I've ever had. She loves what she teaches and truly cares about each of her students. I've taken three classes with Lauren, and I wish I could take more! Lauren makes English more than enjoyable and her love for English inspired me to major in English as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Lauren to any student!

The best and easiest English class I've taken purely because the professor is amazing. She has a clear grading criteria and gives good feedback on your work. The discussion posts are also actually helpful as they set you up for your essay and she gives feedback on there too. Excited to take her again for a different class!

Kind professor! Clear grader, with well explained prompts for essays. Compared to other writing classes I have taken, she requires papers to be a fair amount longer than other professors. She defines length with a page count and not a word count, so if you write densely, take that into consideration.

I took Lauren's English 1A and 1B classes back to back semesters 1B this last semester and I have loved her classes. Her class assignments and lectures show passion and truly help! She cares for her students and is so nice and understanding. Her grading is easy to navigate as her rubric is clearly stated. I was easily able to achieve an A.
