younger, enthused about her teaching.
She's easy but you'll only get a good grade if she likes your name. She talks about certain names she likes on the 1st day of instruction. If your name isn't amongst her fav, don't expect to get an A unless you do some work!
I her very much!
She is very very nice and understanding, plus she's really fun and definatly not boring.
Dr. Arenson is a very informative and helpful teacher. Her classes are also very interesting. I would suggest you take her class if you get the chance to.
Dr.arenson is a great teacher, it is hard not to be amused in her class
Lauren is a very-helpful teacher. She is also a good teacher. Whenever you need a help, she will be available to help you (in class, in her office, or via e-mail).
Excellent; incredibly helpful
Didn't like her much, like the guy above said, she'll give u a good grade only if she likes you, and knows your name.
loved the class, learned alot of evolution facts and stuff like that, zoo trip was fun, met alot of cool people in that class.
She is good teacher. I enjoyed class. Everybody should take her if want easy class.
She is a great teacher who makes her classes enjoyable. She is fair with testing and gives chances for extra credit. Complete the reading & assignments and you will do fine. **Students, please spell check your postings!!!!***
I took the class in the summer..not an "easy class" but you LEARN a lot..she's a good teacher..overall..
Very easy going, wonderful personality and clear on all subjects. Her classes are interesting and she tells many stories to make you feel connected and encouraged to learn more - just approach her for questions, you'll get good answers. She cares.
Very, Very easy class...almost too easy. She is very nice, helpful, clear lectures. Her class is fun too. It is easy to pass, even with light studying. I honestly wish the course had been more of a challenge, it didn't feel like it was college level.
she tries to be funni, a very nice teacher, understadning... but the course is a bit hard. tests were by computers. i wouldnt take it again.
The class is lot of work. Take good notes on lectures and movies, the test Qs come directly from them. She is really nice and you'll get to go on fun field trips. Test were on comp.,1st one was hard.
i thought her class was gonna be not that difficult but she got hard on her exams.. so confusing
Talks too fast and her tests are very difficult. She tests you from 3 different books which you have to virtually memorize to do well. Lectures are long and hard to understand because she inundates you with info.
Her test questions are very confusing, but the questions do not really get into the material specifics, just general questions. Some of the answers to her questions are bizarre.
nice prof. but not that helpful, her face changes as she meets students outside of the class. in the class, she pretends (probably) to be very funny and helpful. Her favorite is "isn't it funny?" I heard it all the time. tests are very hard.
very very easy, just study a little, do the extra credit and your good. interesting stuff about primates and great apes
Very hard!!
SHES WEIRD AND HAS AN ANNOYING VOICE THAT DRIVES YOU CRAZY. THE SUBJECT IS BORING SHES BORING AND THE TESTS ARE BASICALLY EVERY DETAIL IN THE NOTES AND BOOK MEMORIZED. DO NOT TAKE HER.
she is so annoying and talks about things out the subject too much.. not helpful at all.. do not take her take angeloni instead!!
a great prof
Wow, I'm surprised some people don't like her. I Loved her, I know most people in the class did too. She's known around school as a good teacher to take anthropology. Even by those who werent able to take her course. Extra credit is very helpful. Study!
Great teacher! Very layed back throughout most of the course. Where people here have labled her difficult, I would say, no more so than any other good professor. She's very willing to compromise and gives lots of extra credit. She knows what she's doing.
Her tests are really hard
Love her, love her dog -- I've taken her both online and in class -- better in-class, definitely -- very kind and caring, knows so much -- talk to her about anything related to animals!!!!!
I think shes a great teacher. She's fun in class and is very helpful. She makes learning fun. I recommend taking her for Anthro.
Dr. Arenson is one of the best prof's at PCC. She is very smart, funny and very real. She always reviews, always gives students an opportunity to ask questions about tests, is concerned about all in her class, and gives 100% every day. I highly recommend
I loved her. She's a good teacher. I'd take a class with her again in a snap!
She's a cool teacher, however, her tests are really hard.
her tests are very hard and confusing and she puts on this "not in class" face when u see her out of class ... she thinks she's very funny when she's just really lame... she really is not a good teacher,...she talks more about her life than abou
Her tests are kind of detail oriented, but only for some of the questions (which are sometimes vaguely phrased). Her paper is graded very easily & class is very, very easy- due to the fact that she hugely curves tests and gives out ALOT of extra credit.
angeloni is a better choice.
EASY "A"... If something from the lecture is to confusing, she will explain until you understand. extra credit. Take her!
Fabulous. Took two of her classes (one online); very kind and fun!
She' a really nice teacher. If you take good notes easy A. I took her this summer and passed with flying colors. Test were online at home.
Knowledgeable; attractively friendly and very helpful.
Took the online lab class. Dr. Arenson pretty much explained everything in full the first meeting. You got to be a complete loser if you fail her online class. All the answers are in front of you. All you have to do is match what's on your screen.
This teacher is a little odd. Can't put my finger on just exactly what it is, but something is off with her. Very knowledgeable but arrogant. Easy class though. If you can get by her personality, take her class.
Just keep up with your readings! Dr. Arenson can be hard sometimes, Her tests are difficult, so be carefull. She is fun and dorky sometimes, I got an A but, just read read and read!!!!! oh and READ!!!!!!
not bad, not good, has extra credit thats worth a lot
she gives very comprehensive essay exams. you'll do good on her if you keep up reading assigned readings. she requires research papers. she gives extra credit which is good.
i'm an anthro major because of her. i took her summer class. very interesting material. sweet and awesome lady. take her class. unless you're asleep in class every day, you'll have no trouble passing this class.
She lectures a lot but her lectures are not boring at all.ITs an easy class if u take good notes and keep up with the reading.Consists of 3 online test and 1 term paper.Super easy tests and u get to use notes and books. She also gives extra credit thats worth percents not just points whic is good.
The ITV class only met 6 times. The tests were tough because they are online and you are allowed open book/notes-you have to know a lot of specifics. Take notes while you read and make sure to be familiar with the material by re-reading. Then the tests aren't so bad. Overall, I enjoyed her class.
To tell the truth I didn't really pay attention to her all the time, the notes she gives are all over the place and I was not use to that. Her exams are very detailed as well and I didn't really read. That being said i still got an A becuase of the extra credit and the paper.
took this class online. this class is very hard. it's only easy for the "A students", so if ur an average student. it will be hard.
I'm surprised she doesn't have more "hot" ratings! This prof is smoking hot I tell ya! Just look @ her 4 proof of dat! Tests are somewhat difficult so reading the chapters is essential. Extra credit is granted if students voice their opinion for it. Easy to approach, & good sense of humour as well
I have had 4 classes with Dr. Arenson. She is the very reason I stayed in Anthropology; even my graduate professors weren't as thorough as Dr. Arenson. Fabulous teacher and an inspiration. And a beautiful person. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
arensen gives pretty clear lectures and makes the material somewhat interesting. grades pretty fairly, gives extra credit and overall she is a sweet lady.
She is awesome. She is soooooo funny. She is open to all ideas and teaches the information without pressing her views on others. I never knew i could like a class so much. She's great!
Unnecessarily hard. Don't recommend unless you're insanely smart. Passed with boarderline grades.
she made class fun
this class is extremely hard, but fun. i got a b in the class but that's only because i did all the extra credit. out of the 3 test we had i got a c, c, and a d. take this class if you enjoy reading. test questions are all in the books. she doesn't include test question answers in her lectures. do all extra credit, its essential to pass this class
I loved her class, i had doubts about taking this class until i realized that she acyually made the class interesting. plus she's a dodger fan which makes her that much better. P.S. She has an awesome personality( she's hot) in her own way.

SHE IS AMAZING. SHE WILL TEACH YOU A GREAT LIFE LESSON. I DEF. RECOMMEND HER FOR CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY.
She's great. Had her Lab on line and was worried I couldn't get help if needed. She always emailed right back and answered clearly. I would def. take another class from her.
If you are taking this class as only a GenEd req I advise taking her in the summer or winter. It's much easier and more condensed. The class still does require some work to pass. 3 online tests & a term paper for the class and if you take the lab then ten lab assignments on top of that. Still not that hard. She is a nice lady but a little odd.
in my perspective, she is not a good professor.perhaps she is a good anthropologist but that is not a reason to teach. i just think she needs to find another line of work. her tests are unclear, her lectures convoluted and boring. there is no continuity, nor is there vitality in her presentation.
Was slow on posting grades and was hard to get a hold of if you had questions about the assignment.
She was nice and fun but unclear. Really hard class. The online lab is simple. Easy A! I had to really work to make a B in the class. Alot of reading and the test are confusing like stated earlier. Lots of books req.

She's alright.
Her class is interesting but the assigned readings are not.we just dont have enough time to finish all the chapters
This class was super easy. If you need an easy lab take this one!
Reading wasn't that bad. Just keep up and ask questions if you have any. She likes class participation. With in class essays make sure to present the information as well as your interpretation- don't regurgitate it back to her. That's not what she's looking for. Overall great prof.
She is a good teacher... knows her stuff... Open book/online tests are very easy... and I didnt read one line of the books unless i was taking a test... easy class
i like the field trips we took during summer session. her video on the orangutans was hilarious. great teacher
Her TA helps grade our essays, and this semester the TA was a really tough grader. A lot of videos and guest lecturers. We had a take-home final, and the class ended two weeks before the semester was over. She had this tendency to be totally unreachable Thursdays through Sundays, which is a big problem if something big is due Monday morning.
I loved the lectures. Great class, great professor. I was never bored.
confusing tests, too much reading! Not recommended!
Lectures were interesting. Tests were fairly easy if you read the books. Extra credit points allowed you to raise your test grade about one letter grade. Some extra credit assignments were field trips, doesnt get any easier. Worth taking unless you dont plan on opening book. She reminded me of Carol's, from the t.v. show Friends, life partner.
I thought her lectures were very interesting. I like the field trips. The tests are online. However, I thought her tests were hard. I got a C but I enjoy her lectures. One term paper. 3 tests. No homework but a lot of reading.
Do you have a map, Dr. Arenson? Bacho Kiro cave is in Bulgaria, on Bolkans, not in Hungary and this is in your web ?????????!!!!!!!
She is a good teacher. Precise and to the point.
Arenson is a great teacher. Her TA's are also nice and cool. Funny, open to students and very helpful. 3 tests and 1 paper. The only drawback to this class is alot of readings, and when taking tests some questions pose answers to which are "more correct." Can be confusing but other than that, a fun class.
Really nice, funny in a goofy way. Didn't find the class very difficult, got an A without really doing any of the reading. She offers 20 points in extra credit, which is a lot in a 240 point class. Just take good notes, attend class, and fill out the homework packet before you take the test online. Term paper is graded pretty easily.
her class is so boring... not really funny, she tries to be but she really lame... also, if your 1 minute late with what you have to turn in she wont accept it... recommend summer and winter session... online exams
If I could give her a "6" for helpfulness I would. She really cares about her students, and I went to see her often as I struggled a lot. I can't say I like the subject even now but she is a good teacher to take.
She qas the best, and made the history of hominids more exciting. The thought of excavatiing and finding a little piece of our past gives life a little more spice.
I really liked this teacher. She was really cool and her non-jokes are funny. you'll know what I mean. We have about 3 or 4 tests and they're all online. They're pretty difficult if you don't read the book. There's 1 paper that needs to be done as well. She really likes her subject and that makes it likeable. Do the xtra credit. It helps a lo
This teacher sucks! I did so much work in here online class and she still gave me a "D". Too much work for a 1 unit class. Better off taking something else
No Comments
Do not take this online class. It will be the most work you've ever done for a 1 unit class.
She isnt great at all. She grades way too hard, and will give you a bad grade. I did everything right, was supposed to get a B and got a c cuz shes unfair. Some of the stuff was interesting, yet she was boring and would be mad if u were late yet showed up late herself. not recommended.
Prof. is absolutely not hard. There is a lot of work for 1 unit lab class, but they are very easy! I did all the work and got all 100% Do the assignments on time and u'll do fine1
Can you say HOT??? Wow. Anyhow, she's married. Darn. Knows her subject. Does great job teaching such huge class. However, she would have been a LOT better in a smaller class. Relies too much on internet-very annoying. Academics are easy as long as you keep pace. 1 unit lab is more work than the 3 unit lecture, and that needs to be changed.
ONLINE. easiest thing ever as long as you do the work, takes no brain activity, just follow instructions and do your stuff on time.
This gal knows her stuff. I'm in the middle of her classes anthro 1 & 2. 2 is online and I switched classes as she was so much better than the other anthro 2 teacher I had. She is somewhat challanging, but aren't we in college to learn? Her classes are infomative, fun and very active!
pretty easy class. make sure you do all your assignments on time. 3 test are pretty easy as long as you read the chapter. tests based mainly on vocab, one paper which is easy. kind of a lot of work. but if you do it correctly and try.. youll get at least a B. make sure you follow your points. she made mistakes on mine. gives extracredt which helps
Anthropology 1L is online lab, just for fun and relaxable, there have so many people can receive a A in the lab class, very good topic and make it interesting!
excellent!
Arenson is tooooo too hot, a lot of students love her class because she can make the class become really fun and interesting throughout the human and others. This class should be the best class throughout the all social science class. Take her! You will never regret!
There are a lot of work need to do and written down paper for the Anthropoligy 1 class. Arenson makes this class really interesting.
she was okay at first. i started to understand, then all she would talk about didnt make sense. i entered the class with some knowledge and got out not even wanting to know nothing about it!!! her classes shouldnt be the sizes of seminars. her limit to that room should be at least 60. she needs to be more involved with her students
class is intensily boring.
I took her online class in summer. 3 test and one critical thinking reaction paper. She grades pretty easy on the essays. Lots of readings to do. Test are kind of hard, but the essays in the test boost your grade. Offers 20 extra credit out of 300 possible points. Do the extra credits and you'll get an A. Even if you screw your tests.
She is a nice person. It's wise to take her class. Assignments are easy and interesting.
awful just awful
Useless and Hard she is too mean she is not reasonable at all the tests are rediculouse
She makes class much more tougher and tougher after midterm.
During class, she is really hard to understand because she goes so fast. She also does get aggravated when asked questions. But if you go to her office and ask for help she will definetly help you. The more you go to her office for help, the more you will come to understand the way she teaches in class.
This online class SUCKED. I dropped it. Anthro is my major and she made me miserable. There is so much busy work and you have post crap all the time and the tests are hard. She pretty much accused me of plagiarizing because I wrote intelligently. Don't take her.
Interesting, unique and fun.Can raise curiosity and can talk about anything under the sun. Mostly accesible and efficient on class resources and academic requirements.
She is cool I enjoy her lectures, and answers all our questions, she made this class fun.
A real passion for what she teaches, and a really nice lady. Maybe its just me but i had a really hard time in the class, i had to do every point posssible just to get a C in the Class. Good teacher, but i just had a hard time with the exams.
Professor Arenson is sweet and engaging. Her lectures, despite the content, are not dull. She covers the content as needed and an A is extremely attainable. Do the extra credit, which is in abundance, and you will do great. Tests are online and open book. Recommended.
She has a passion for anthropology. I saw some people complain about her, but I don't know what they did wrong. If you are a responsible student who works hard there is no doubt that you will successfully pass this class with an "A". There is a large amount of extra credit that helps lift up a test grade. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
took her class, shes awesome! take her, shes VERY helpful and interesting!
Took this in Fall 2007. Great teacher, passionate about the class & about primates. I also took the Lab @the same time online which requires a lot of research and writing. I got an A but I had to work for it. I recommend doing all the extra credits (which are easy). Tests are online (open book) but you must know the material. She is very accessible
ALOT of reading but it's interesting material. very helpful teacher. took it during my first semester at pcc. got an A
I took the online segment of Anthr 1L. It's an easy class with about 2 assignments per week. Assignment involves researching online and posting the work on the class site. Total of 10 assignments for the summer class and extra credits. Some people say too much work for 1 unit class. True, but each assignment takes about 1 hr to do. Easy A.
Funny and kind, no to mention understanding. She will help you as necessary. If you have a joke, tell it to her. She loves jokes.
I took the online Anthropology Lab class and I ended up hating the subject when last semester I took Anthropology 1 with a different teacher and loved it. Her online assignments are either too easy or very vague, making it much more difficult. Her email responses are curt as well, as if I should not have bothered her.
It was a shame that I failed a majority of her tests, but I felt she was better than most of the professors I've had so far. She was descriptive, thorough, and fun, especially with her sidekick Mr. Ramos. She told us many stories of what has happened to her and her friends anthropologically, which really related to our anthro conversations. Man...
I love her,,,I think she is a wonderful instructor. She was always clear on our assignments. Easy "A" you're not judged as long as you do you're work. Best choice ever!!
She sucks! Do not take her class. I took it online. She gets annoyed when you e-mail her with questions. Her tests are ridiculously hard, and don't really relate to her book. I paid $122.00 on Amazon for her book, and it belongs in the trash. She didn't even write it herself! It's made up of articles written by other people. Steer clear!
Took the online course, and all I can say is that I'm very disappointed. The class was highly disorganized, textbook is utterly useless and vague, tests had strict dates and time windows, assignments didnt feel connected to the subject at all. In the end, I dont feel I learned anything at all. Its a real shame, she had such a high rating.
The class is fair as a GE. Even though multiple choice part of the tests are somewhat challenging, you will get full credit for essay questions since they ask for personal response. Make sure to do the extra credit of 20 points maximum, that is 8% of overall grade. Interesting material
Dr. Arenson is not really clear in her lectures. She writes many things in the board that don't make sense. Her class is not clear. She always seem to be busy. If Anthro is not your forte... I don't recommend you to take her.
Tests are very hard. Intimidating teacher. Kind of rude/mean. Don't come through the front door if youre even a minute late. Hard class. Don't recommend.
tests are really hard but as long as you do enough extra credit and REALLY understand what the text is about then you would ace. hard working teacher and easy going. take her
very unorganized, can never read what is written on the board, shes always in a hurry and expects you to understand
My main problem with this woman is that SHE IS NOT CLEAR IN HER ESSAYS. It feels as though she just says "this paper is due at this time" and NEVER gives us a topic on WHAT THE HELL WE SHOULD WRITE ABOUT. Her clarity rating should be a -1 rather than a 0. For lectures, it feels like she says the same thing everyday. Don't take her :/
Arenson is really cool, but doesn't tolerate bs, and holds students to a high standard. She expects you to be on time, do your homework, and pay attention. Her tests are tough, but she's fair. She'll adjust your grade if you prove a question is flawed. She expects us to know 2 textbooks, lecture material, and other data, and to think - surprise!
shes funny. class starts EXACTLY on time, if you're one minute late walk through the BACK door & sign in late at the end. tests are okay as long as you've read through the chapters (she allows you to use the book for test) make sure your essay thesis is CLEAR or you get marked down. discussion board on her website is helpful if you missed class.
Dr. Arenson made this class interesting and made me want to go to class. You are required to do 2 papers and have 4 chances to turn them in. Reading the book for the test is a MUST. She's a fair grader on the papers and offered many opportunities for help on the thesis in the lab. Good Professor!
She's a great professor, if you're lazy and cannot read then maybe you'll have a hard time in her class. If you understand how to go online and read a syllabus, as well as a textbook, then you're completely set. Pay attention in class, she tells you everything you need to know! Not for a LAZY person, but good for anyone else!!!!
She is really nice and interesting!Spend time reading your textbook, you will be fine on the test.she provides a lot of help and extra credit.
I took the online cultural course. I thought it was difficult would have loved to take her in a traditional class. Definitly the teacher to take! She know's what she's talking about and is a pleasure to listen to. Do all the assignments, the extra credit and you'll do great!
she is the best! and fun i gained knowledge and was not stressed1
I'm taking her on-line Anthro Lab and it's the easiest class I have experienced thus far. An easy-A for sure and it coincides perfectly with Anthro 1, so if you take them simultaneously you will be in the game. There are 2 on-line assignments per week and each takes about 20 mins to complete. If you can't pass this class, it's because you are lazy.
Online class, 3 tests, 1 essay, weekly 1pg response to a question along w/ a response to a peer. Must read the book. For an online class, it's alright. Not too much direction from her but if you ever need help, just email her and that'll get you the quickest response. Extra credit opp's are offered so take advantage just in case!
She kept whining about her paycheck. number one rules as a teacher, dont whine about your damn paycheck. She complained that she didnt have enough money to give her german sheppard $150 weekly accupuncture. Its a german effing sheppard, it doesnt need accupuncture.she let kids bring their dogs into class, one took a piss next to me. forget her
I took her online cutural anthro class. Easy as long as you read, do the assignments, and take the exams. It's pretty hard to fail an online class in general so, i don't get why anyone would. She responds to all emails and, gives extra credit!
Very nice teacher. Tests are pretty hard, but there is a ton of extra credit to make up for them. Keep up with the assignments, read, and do the extra credit = easy A. Highly recommended.
Very easy class. Easiest A ever! You won't regret taking her for lab.
nothing to complain about this class. class is easy. perfect for students who are working. just be sure to do work before the deadline and ull be golden.
Easiest A. Online lab consisted of 11 assignments and two extra credit opportunities that were 2 pts. each. Grades easily, just make sure you follow her criteria and complete the minimum requirement. TRUST ME, the lab is EASY.
Do the work and you will for sure get an A. Grades fairly and gives ex credit opportunities. Online class
She wrote the textbook for both Anthropology classes I took from her, she knows her stuff. She makes the LARGE class fun and got me to do extra work.
She is very fare as long as you do the work. The tests are not hard as long as you do the readings required. She was great and opened my eyes on a lot of things that are easily looked over and has changed the way that I looked at things and the decision I will now make for myself and my family.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE HAD AT PCC.DO NOT TAKE HER. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS' SUCCESS AND DOES NOT TRY TO HELP YOU AT ALL. EVERY TIME YOU E MAIL HER WITH A QUESTION SHE RESPONDS IN THE COLDEST MANNER AND NEVER ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION. I HAD TO TAKE MULTIPLE ZEROS IN ASSIGNMENTS BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES AND SHE DID NOT CARE. BS.
Prof. Arenson is SO MUCH FUN. Very down to earth & thorough. Cul. Anthro. was really enjoyable because she is also a vegetarian & really takes the time to teach & offers 20 possible points of extra credit. I truly recommend her, such a fun class & professor, very honest & humorous. The class is also very very interesting; you become more optimistic
ridiculous!!! i just stopped because the way she greades horrid!! and her test are impossible!! we HAVE to read a book SHE WROTE and her dicussions are scatter-brained and incomprehensible. STAY AWAY!
Great teacher. Class was a lot of fun. Took both 1 and 1L. Highly reccomend. Her lectures are very interesting; however, test is 100% from book, so read book. Very passionate about Anthropology and a great teacher.
She grades really hard on essays, there's 2 essays in the class, 3 exams. Book is highly recommended because all the exams are open book/note.
She was my favorite teacher for my first semester. It's easy to get an A on the papers, you only have to write two for the whole class plus she gives you four chances to do them. There are only three tests, pretty easy if you do the reading, not to mention the tests are open-note and open-book. Lot of extra cred. opportunities. Overall great teache
She was the nicest professor ever! She even got my kid a gift! She is very reasonable and very passionate about what she teaches. If you need this class take her.
GREAT PROFESSOR, VERY KIND.
This teacher is the best. Do the work, get an A. I loved taking her class, however it is very interactive online, so be prepared to log in at least 3 times a week.
good teacher. very helpful and easy if you understand the material.
I was really excited about this online class, everyone said it would be easy.Way too many assignments and she is NOT an easy grader at all.Good luck getting a passing grade in this class, she never responds to emails and she is not the nicest person. If you dont like writing papers and lots of HW DON'T take her, you WILL regret.
She is a very nice teacher who responds to emails and questions in a timely manner. If you read the textbook, complete all your homework, and take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities, you will do very well. This class was a great experience.
Hate her, don't take her. She tries to act nice, but she has unfair grading and boring lectures!
Her tests are extremely difficult. They're worth 60% of your grade and the other 40% is comprised of two short papers. She is fun at times but rather crabby and rude the rest. I regret having to take this class.
Follow her directions, attend the lectures, do the extra credit, and you will succeed.
This lady is mean I e-mailed her very nicley a few different times and she was down right rude. Very cold, I meant w/ her in person & she was very impersonal. Her assistant was so nice tho!!!!
I took my Anthro Lab online with Arenson and received a C. You don't ever have to read the book. If you complete all the discussions well you will get an A. I missed two of them and got a C. She doesn't offer any extra credit. All my papers were googled and I learned nothing in this class.
The class is hard, but she is by far, the smartest professor that I have ever had. I was literally in awe of her during every class lecture. I loved the class, she is brilliant. Don't be late!!
I look the online Anthro 1 class and related lab. Dr. Arenson does a great job with an online class. She assigns weekly assignments and gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities. Excellent communication and always willing to clarify if something is unclear. Do the assignments and the extra credit and you should get an A!
she shows favoritism and doesn't make time to meet with you about your grade during the semester if you ask her to. Yet she makes time to have lunch with her favorite students.
Flakey, will not respond to your emails, for an online class, she had weird due dates on all different days and TIMES during the week, rude and short with students in emails (if she even responds).
Taking Anthro 1 in the summer, she tries to make it bearable but the subject is simply boring. There isnt any better way to teach boring subjects. She's really nice though because she does care for students.
Stay far away from this professor. Not only is she rude to her students, she doesn't return emails. If you don't take the rude comments already posted seriously, good luck.
Not very helpful when asked help.. not clear on guidelines.. basically if you have a ? and you're going to fail because she didn't respond..you'll fail cus she doesn't respond
Class is honestly very simple.Pay attn and take GOOD NOTES during lecture youll pass test even just reading thru chptrs once. Prf Arenson really cares abt students..its strange to me why everyone is saying such neg things. Obvsly if you show attitude thats wht youll get back. Essay topics r difficlt to undrstnd so ask many qs. Id def take her again
LOVE HER! Sweet and funny, but don't piss her off or else that's it. Do your work + act mature/responsible & you'll pass. Ask PLENTY of ?'s or you will be lost! Don't cheat, she's not stupid. She'll bend over backwards for you if you go for help, so, ASK HER FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT. Simple as that.
Don't get one her bad side because once you do you're pretty much no good in her eyes.if she doesn't like or trust you theres a good chance you'll fail. She doesn't know the meaning of clarity. Save yourself the time/effort and take another professor's class.
Funny teacher. She may seem intimidating at first but if you attend to her lectures, you'll find out she's a really great person. Her class is challenging...in a good way. There isn't many assignments, so it's best to do them all. Plus she gives extra credit which raises like 8% of your overall grade if completed and curves at the end of the final.
Take good notes during lectures bc theyll be on test. Likes to tell stories to help you understand(and theyre just fun haha) Likeable person. Read chapters well.Doesn't try to trick you on tests, which is nice. Essay topics are often unclear so ASK QUESTIONS and write thoroughly using terms in the book. Just multchoice tests n about 2 essays no hw.
Probably one of the easiest lab classes, every week you write a one page paper. Sometimes confusing and she can grade hard. You need to put in the time for this class, I got an A but it was not easy. Honestly, you really need 5 hours or less a week for this class. Some assignments are easier than others, some are pointless. You will learn nothing
Lectures are interesting, a lot of reading, some movies. She can be very anti-religion.Tests are online, which is okay lets you google the questions. I barely got an A, didn't really care for subject. She has a horrible sense of style, but is funny and has a great personality. You won't be bored in class. Take notes.
She is great professor!!! Listen to what she has to say such as practice quizzes! They will prepare for both exams and just read the chapters and do the extra credit. I will admit didn't have the greatest attendance towards end of the semester but read all the chapters and did allt he practice quizzes. I got B without really trying towards the end.
Listen to lectures, practice tests, review handouts- all are test material. Must know college level composition for research paper! She's tough when grading because she expects students to show they understood the material. She gives extra credit that really helps those who need it. Some group assignments were confusing at first, but not impossible.
Try not to take this professor, her clarity level is beyond incomprehensible. She gives you a broad outline of what to do. I put in effort for responses to her questions and yet she pins it down as if there was a structured outline/guideline on how to answer everything. Very b-word/rude/picky professor that doesn't clarify anything. Total waste.
I'm currently taking her class fr the Fall Semester and have to say, she's one of the best professors at PCC. University level class and she's a great lecturer which is always a plus. She expects you to keep up with studying and class work, but really there's no excuse to slack off.
Great person and personality but horrible professor. Her lectures are very unclear and if you ask her a question to clarify you end up more confused. When she talks about what she wants on research papers in class you MUST double check her prompts online because it is always different. Only take if you are confident in anthropology.
Way too much work for a 3 credit class, unless you love anthro I recommend taking another class. Strict grader as well
Honestly, plan on working pretty hard for this class if you want an A. NOT an easy A! I did all 20 extra credit points & put in HOURS of work on my essays & preparing for my exams, but ended up with an 89%. Luckily, she curved the class.
on what planet do you accept 6 online lab classes as a professor and completely ignore your emails. This professor has an attitude. Take it with someone else.
I took the online lab course and I must say she is one of the worst online professors I have ever had. She is EXTREMELY unclear with the assignments and most of them make no sense or are completely pointless. The directions are vague and treats this class as if it were 4 units. Her grading is unpredictable and gives little feedback. AVOID HER
She is one of the worst teachers at PCC. She put little effort into the online course, she re-posted items from prior years. Grading was harsh, class average was 50% on the mid-term. Homework was one paper a week, with confusing instructions and group work. Avoid her classes. She did not respond to emails. Her feedback on homework was minimal.
I took her class before on campus and dropped it within the first 3 weeks because her assignments were unclear and lectures. I just completed her online class (6 weeks) and it was WAY EASIER! The materials are easier to understand, there are a lot of writing assignments, and the practice quizzes are your extra credit.
Terrible teacher. Papers are graded much more strictly than what they should be at a community college. Again, if we could write published papers, we'd already be at a university. The majority of her "lectures" are spent by her trying to persuade you to hate the administrators at PCC. Definitely do NOT recommend her, if you value your gpa.
She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. I don't even think anyone reads the papers then they are graded. Tends to ramble during class. The tests will kill your grade because the questions are too specific.
Took her for an online lab class. She posts very vague assignments, and when I would email her for clarification, her emails were equally as vague. Most of the class was confused as well and turned in many variations of the assignment, by then it would have been too late. Wish she was more clear on assignments and replies.
I took this Lab online out of convenience. The reading assignments and discussions were quick and easy. The longer assignmets she gave were challenging not bc of the workload, but bc it was hard to understand. I did like fast reponse time for grades and the chance to work in groups. I would suggest a different professor.
Very unclear about what she wants. Assignment descriptions are vauge and sometimes the links to do the assignment is contraditary to she says she wants . Pick a different teacher.
I took this class online and it was ok. Arenson is there if you need help, but not really clear in her instructions. She does grade quickly and posts grades which is nice. I barely read the assigned journals and got by with a B. I was taking an Anthro 1 class at the same time which helped with the concepts. She gives little feedback.
I would not recommend you to take her class. Terrible person and grader.
She is very tough & strict in grading. Don't skip a single class until unless medical leave because missing a lecture is like failing the quiz. Too much writing but topics are interesting.
Extremely tough class! I don't recommend taking Anthro 1 Online with her. The campus class is way more easier than online. She gave us research papers, writing assignments, and numerous busy work along with hard tests! If you're looking for an easy A, this is DEFINITELY NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU! You have been warned.
She's pretty silly, but she does expect you to work hard for your grade. She lets you take exams either in class open note and book or online, and I always took mine online at home... Her lectures don't really correlate with the exams and she's definitely a tough grader when it comes to the papers she assigns. 20 points extra credit possible.
Her class was great. The tests were a little hard. Just be sure to take good notes. And no, you are not allowed to leave the window of the online exams. You should be honest when taking exams anyway. DO NOT FORGET to reply to your classmates for class discussions. As for papers, you need to be creative and well-read to get good grades on them.
I have taken so many online classes and she is by far the hardest online class. I took her for summer 6 week session and she is a pretty tough grader. We had 3 exams 1 paper and 1 powerpoint project. She does offer extra credit so make sure you do that as well as every assignment. Her lab class was also really hard and had more assignments.
I took her lab class as well as reg anthro class online for summer session and she was a really tough grader. She hardly gives a perfect score on an assignment always finds something to deduct a couple points off. Make sure you do every assignment to pass the class! the lab actually has more assignments then the actual anthro class. No tests
I took ANTH001 with other professor in class last semester and I dropped it cauz that german professor is EXTREMELY disorganized! So I retake ANTH001 during summer, professor Arenson is pretty good and friendly! There are only three exams during the whole semester and few online discussion works to do. Take her class if you wanna get a A !!!!!!!!
Her instructions for the weekly discussion/assignments are never clear. I had to email her through canvas every single week multiple times to clarify what she expected of each assignment, including the formatting of papers. She's not a tough professor, I just think she doesn't communicate well online. Reasonable assignments, but unclear directions.
I took her online Anthro class, it was OK. Most of the work was easy and manageable. However, she is a very tough grader and is very picky from other online professors. Seemed as though I could never get full credit on anything. (most of the time) She responds to emails very quickly and is helpful if you're ever truely stuck.
You have to read. That's basically it. I took her lab and her physical class and to be honest, they are both fantastic. The only downside is there is a certain amount of memorization required for her class. She will help you though and she's very involved with study groups with the vet club, even if you're not a veteran yourself.
I hate science but Arenson is a good professor. Her class wasn't hard and she offers a lot of extra credit. I would definitely take her again.
Get ready to get assignments graded weeks later... she would often say that she couldn't grade the class essays because of political debates. Not a good excuse. Her class is very repetitive and the tests do cover way more material than what she will mention or even warn you about. Very test heavy. You will not get feedback on tests btw. not great.
Tests are pretty hard, you really have to study for them. I recommend you come to class , the lectures simplify the textbook and make it easier to understand. She was a pretty great professor, and very understanding.
This class caught me by suprise because I didn't realize the test were going to be so hard. We have three test and I failed all of them but I did all the extra credit and scored well on the essays and passed with a B. She lectures and sometimes shows movies. But get ready to read..
Her online course was manageable. We had an assignment each week, some required a response to a classmate. I received full credit on the midterm and final papers, which surprised me. I hardly scored full credit on the assignments, ranging around 8-9/10. I did miss the one easy assignment worth 5 pts. Final grades were curved, 88% was an A.
I took the winter accelerated course. It was a lot of work, but worth it. She gives extra credit (which you should do), and I was able to do well by skimming through the reading and taking some notes when I knew I would be tested on something. Don't fall behind, work hard, and you'll get an A.
I took her online class and I learned a lot. The weekly reading material consist of articles, videos and reading the book assigned . Assignments are due every Friday and citation is a must. You do your work, and you get a good grade. I got a B and it was because I didn't do a paper worth a lot of points.
The professor was ok. 3 exams, one research project, and two extra credits you can do. The tests are not easy, but I got an A on all of them and failed my research project and did two extra credits. Overall, it was okay. Would take her again though.
Took her 8 week online class. Easy class not many assignments. All through canvas. 2 papers 3 exams and some online discussions once a week. Definitely recommend taking her online class.
Dr. Arenson is amazing! One of the kindest, most reasonable professors I've experienced. She is extremely knowledgable and you will learn a lot from her class. She welcomes discussion, as well. The workload wasn't too extreme - 3 exams over the course of the semester and 2 papers. Offers lots of extra credit. Make sure you do the readings!
This class was not like I expected but it was worth effort for me at the end of the semester. She is really sweet. The reading was a lot but she uses an alternative so that you will not have to read the chapters yourself, through Pearson Revel. Make sure you do the Pearson Revel quizzes every week, that will boost up your grade. Good Luck!
This lab is only worth 1 credit, but it felt like a 4 credit course. I felt challenged, but in a good way. She's specific with what she asks of you, and I think that's important when taking an online course. She's nice, understanding, straightforward and responds quickly to emails.
Took this during the winter. 1-2 assignments each week along with discussions. Make sure you pay attention to the time that the assignments are due. She makes her assignments due at 11:00 instead of 11:59 like most classes. That really threw me off. Easy course just manage your time wisely.
This was one of the last classes I needed to take to get my AA. I emailed Professor Arenson begging her to let me in her class. She let me in even though I missed a few assignments, and I still finished with an A. Loved the class, and I will always be grateful to her for letting me into it. Online is the way to go!
She gives out extra credits generously. If you take her class, you won't regret it. she is in every aspect a good instructor.
like bio class
Took hybrid course. 1 assignment due every Friday and 1 online quiz every Sunday. 3 tests, 2 research papers. It sounds like a lot, but she is a super easy grader. You can tell she just wants students to pass. Easiest route to get through the science requirement.
Dr. Anderson was Amazing! Her Online Class was very well structured, her grading criteria was very clear... and she always gave a perfect score (as long as you were clear, concise, and "Always*** Cited your sources" (Always***). Also, as long as you do the reading, and cover the articles she has you read, you'll do fine on the Discussion Boards
Very quirky, but in a funny way. She is a very nice professor, but she does grade harshly (for projects and research papers) She offers extra credit (10pts each- that's worth an assignment) for visiting the Gibbon Conservation Center . Overall, her class was pretty easy. Just do the work and you'll do fine. Good Luck!
I took professor Arenson's 8-week online lab class. I have taken several anthropology classes before, so the book was all old information to be. Really easy and not that much work.
She is the Greatest teacher in the whole campus
Overall the class can be interesting, however the material can be a bit dry at times. There is lots of reading material for the 8 week course. On writing assignments and discussions she is lenient with grading as long as you meet the page requirements and proofread. The test are open note however you should read before taking the test!
Taking her class for humanities 002 rn and I regret taking her class already, she does NOT know how to use canvas and its an online class, there is no assignments tab on canvas for her class. You will only know there's work if you click the 'grade' tab. Didn't say what she wanted for one assignment and sent a rubric AFTER grading and I got an F....
I took Professor Arnenson for Humanities 003 this past semester, it was originally in person but then went online. She is the absolute best!!! The easiest, yet most caring professor at PCC. She really cares about your health and safety more than assignments, only like 1 assignment a week, if anything! The issues we talked about were also impactful
Im taking her HUM002 online course. It is an 8 week class, so there is more work and material to go over. Theres one discussion every week/ 4 essay assignments/ 3 quizzes through out the course. She offers a lot of extra credit and they are worth a lot, so make sure to complete them. Great professor would take again :)
The tests are hard! She picks the randomest, tiniest facts from the book & those will be your test questions. Things that you will overlook when reading. I devoured that book and still had a hard time passing. One extra credit worth 10 points will be assigned. 1 paper. The practice quizzes are easy. Be warned the Big exams are hard!
Easy A. Not a tough grader. Took online class. Did not do any of the required readings. Test's are on quizlet word for word. No homework. One short paper. Def reccomend
She was really a caring teacher, passionate about the subject. She would always answer back within the day ((covid online times). It was not an overwhelming class. It's very manageable. We had four 50 question multiple choice quizzes with a 90 min time limit. I would absolutely take any of her courses again!
I took her 8 week course, this was the most organized and easy layout to learn online. The only online course I have taken since COVID that actually worked. There are a lot of discussions, readings, and a few papers. Anyone can pass this class if you apply yourself.
Professor Arenson is passionate about her subject, and eager to share that passion. She is very responsive to her students' needs, and very quick to answer email. Her writing assignments are interesting and topical, and work is graded promptly and thoughtfully. Overall, she is an excellent professor.
The professor is amazing! Do your work, do the reading, write a paper and you will get an A on the class. Dr. Arenson is also a caring professor who always take her time and have an understanding through each student's difficulty, she is really nice. Nothing is hard about this class honestly, so good luck and have fun!
Professor Arenson's very caring about the subject matter. She's very clear on what she wants, theres one paper, three exams and a few assignments. She is very adamant on late work, she will not accept it whatsoever Just turn in the work. The only way you could possibly fail is if you don't do any assignments , I would highly recommend her course.
Overall this class was an easy A. 1 paper, a few discussion board responses and a 3 tests. Follow her instructions on the paper and do not overthink it is how you will get the A. The book was pretty dense.. I skimmed through the readings and still got an A. Test answers can be found outside of the textbook.
she always takes points off assignments for no reason and doesnt give any feedback so you don't know what you did wrong. i took the 8 week session so it was loaded with so many chapters a week. she made us do an outline and took pts off for adding extra info after telling us to add however much we wanted?? then gave everyone A's on the actual paper
Based on class grade avg assignment 5/10 tests 27/50 I can't say it's an easy A. She docs pts for missing word requirements. Tests are a bit hard, she asks really specific things. She wants research for most assignments. If you're good at writing and finding research on google scholar you'll probably get an A. This is for 8w online in 2021 covid.
There are writing assignments every week and they all have to be a minimum of 1 page. She docks points for no reason, even if you meet all the requirements. There's one essay that's relatively easy, & all the tests are on quizlet. I didn't do any of the readings and still passed with an A. I still found this class to be easy despite the bs grading.
Professor Arenson was great. Not too much home work for a 6 week class. A one page hw assignment every week and discussion posts. Just make sure its one page and site your sources, she doesnt like quotes, she likes citations. Test are on quizlet and essay is easy. Got an A, she grades tougher as the semester goes but she has 20pt ex/credit opps.
I took cultural anthro for her 8-week course and it was really interesting. If there was a discussion section or in-person, it would've been one of my most interesting classes at PCC so far. I recommend doing the reading, you basically teach yourself with your online format so if you actually care to learn you'll enjoy it.
When I say caring, I MEAN CARRYING. This is a college class and usually, they are strict with deadlines but this professor makes a lot of exceptions. It's not a hard class but don't think it's easy A. If you put in the work I promise it becomes EASY A. Take this class and put in some work if you want it for your IGETC. Extremely Kind Professor.
It was an 8 week course, but the homework was bearable. I learned so much from her class and I would recommend it to everybody. Make sure to read her instructions thoroughly if you're aiming for a high score.
Dr. Arenson is the most caring and understanding professor. She is an inspiration to me. If you are looking for an easy A this is not the class for you. You have to put in work and reading to get an A and it is totally doable. You will not regret taking a class with her she's AMAZING. The class is based on discussions, assignments, 2 exams + final.
online class is very disorganized. Files and important information for assignments are hard to find. Inconveniently has all assignments due at 11:30 pm instead of the regular 11:59 pm. Wack study guides. Thinking of dropping. Dont take her.
A literal gem of a professor. I took all my anthro courses with her, no regrets. Put in the work to get your desired grade it all depends on how much work you are willing to put in. The class isn't a joke, take it seriously, time is the key.
Took the 8 week asynchronous class. Very easy A, just do the assignments on time!
The class only had 6 assignments in total including 3 exams. No late work is accepted but there is plenty of time."Discussions" are papers. Exams are also multiple choice and open book. If you pay attention to her lectures you should be able to get all 50 points. Arguably one of the best professors ever. Very kind and understanding and truly cares!
ez exams but the weekly assignments are essays. she has an extremely unclear grading criteria and will mark u off on unnamed/subjective/minute details. if u turn ur assignments in early, she will grade harder assuming that u didnt do the readings prior. you will NEVER get 10/10 on an assignment. extra cred is good tho
Her assignments were weekly discussions, which were basically papers. 2 main papers and 3 tests which are open book. Her assignments are dependent on the reading so stay on top of it. Overall an interesting class where the work will have you thinking.
I didn't get to bond too much with the professor since the class was asynchronous, but I enjoyed the class. Prepare to read a lot since there are lengthy chapter readings for the weekly discussions. There was also a book required to read. The class wasn't too difficult, but just make sure to manage your time and read all of the texts.
Professor Lauren is amazing! She really cares for her students and I can really feel that she is also passionate about teaching. She would make sure her students understand the materials and its concept throughly. Do your homework, follow her instructions you will do good! She offers many opportunities for extra credit, definitely do that too.
Dr. Arenson is a gem. She really wants her students to be successful and leave her class knowing something. Her ANTH009 online class wasn't hard, but you do need the read the textbook to do the assignments/exams. A couple papers but if you follow her directions, you'll get an A. She's also very accessible outside of class so if you need help, ask!
I loved this class. Professor Arenson is very involved with student's progress. She was an amazing communicator, and the material was very interesting and thought-provoking.
Frustrating prof. The curriculum lacked focus and consistency. The coursework was merely a collection of random topics that the professor found interesting, rather than a structured learning experience with a clear theme. Her grading made no sense no standards/ expectations were posted anywhere. You can pull an A but be ready to bs bs bs.
VIP, Class is required for Gerontology, Aging care is not covered. Class description is Humanities of Science/ Technology, but Syllabus is 'Anthropology of comparative medicine' ok. Canvas problems, she didn't load into modules, and Discussions, are inflexible reports and citations, of the assigned articles. So far, No sign she wants thinking.
Plan ahead, plan ahead for the discussion!
Meh. I personally thought she was kind of rude when I had to reach out to her over email, but that could have just been a one-time instance.
Professor Lauren's class is challenging but rewarding. Detailed lectures, weekly writings, and open-book exams test your understanding. Stay on top of assignments and use resources like unstuckstudy ai to succeed. Overall, a great learning experience.
Professor Arenson is a great teacher, she makes the lecture clear and organize every week. and she will remind you to do the assignments as well. the only thing is she will make you read a lot , study a lot, and do a lots of research. if you are a person who like reading and do research , her class can fit your expectation.
Lauren Arenson is amazing. It is my third time taking her class because everytime I see her name I need to take that class! She is amazing, a lot of reading and writing but it's so fun trust me. Take her put in the work and get an A. Read, use your reading and write! 2 exam multiple choice, from readings.. easy. I love her.
Took Professor Arenson for ANTH002 and she was absolutely amazing...Be ready to do LOTS of readings, lectures and exams. Her teaching style is very inspiring and caring...As long as you follow her directions and you will get an A. She is fast at responding emails and will even sent in reminders if you haven't turned in an exam. 10/10
took her 6wk winter course and it was doable! her canvas was super organized and class was clear. it was just a lot of reading and writing but that was expected. dont use ai and make sure to just read as it'll make your life easier. she does not accept any late work at all so beware. you genuinely have to put in time as she grades a bit harsh.
Compare, syllabus vs catalog description. I had her for Humanities of Science and Technology. I am very interested in gaining knowledge of that subject, she avoided it. I should have dropped. I should retake with a different teacher. Waste of my time and money. Avoid her unless you are interested in the anthropology of indigenous medicine.
Read the syllabus, compare it to the catalogue. I wish I had dropped. I did not get the subjects I was supposed to get, I feel cheated. Even though I got an A.
Very straightforward course. Lots of articles and documentaries you have to watch but overall very interesting. One assignment a week, couple of papers, and a few exams (All open book). She doesn't accept late work though or offer any extra credit so make sure you stay on top of everything and you'll do great.
I LOVE professor Arenson! She's very sweet and caring, always provides good feedbacks. Her HUM002 was very inspirational, many lectures, PREPARE TO ACTUALLY READ. This class is a GREAT practice opportunity if you are not good with Research Papers! Her resources are insightful, she gives extra credit! She's also very understanding w/ late works!
Had to drop the class as my course load was already pretty heavy without all Dr. Arenson's ridiculous requirements for discussion posts. She wanted 1-2 pages in MLA format paper for a discussion post and 1 page MLA format paper when you respond to a classmate, and you had to do at least 2. That's on top of all the assignments required.
