She is the BEST. I would recommend anyone to take her class. She is very organized and enthusiastic about teaching. Also she gives so many opportunities for extra credit. The book was unnecessary for the class because all the homework was done on course compass. SIGN UP for her course TODAY.
Great teacher! For the first time ever I think I actually understand and somewhat ...enjoy math. She doesn't make you feel stupid when you ask questions, she breaks it down and you get it. She cares about students learning and enjoying math as much as she does. If you need to take a Math course @ UWF take it with her. You don't need the book.
this class is great if you hate math, because it allows you to still hate math, and it be really easy.
She is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She sometimes comes off like she's teaching a group much younger than college students but she's excellent. Don't buy the textbook just get Pearsons My Math Lab, the homework is all on there. Easy A. She does take attendance. Take her!!!
She is a very helpful teacher. She takes her time with students to make sure that they understand everything. Sometimes you might feel like you're not in college because of the way she teaches, but she actually made understand math. I recommend her to everyone. She's an extremely helpful lady.
Ms.Rex is a nice and understanding teacher. She gives quizzes every week but there is extra credit, even though it doesn't help a whole lot. There are test reviews but it would help if she actually worked thru them in class rather than just emailing the answers. Do ALL the hmwk, don't skip class, check email daily and do the reviews ahead of time.
Easily my favorite teacher so far. Mrs. Rex goes extra lengths to make sure all of her students understand her already very clear material, offers extra credit on the reg, and is an overall great teacher. She incorporates a lot of humor into her lessons, making them enjoyable. I could never really understand math, until I had Mrs. Rex as a teacher!
LOVE this teacher! Mrs Rex is amazing at teaching math. She explains everything with perfect clarity just about every time and if you have any questions she will reword it 100 times until you understand. She tries not to leave anyone behind. great class. hard yes, but i got an A..and its calculus. So she helped a ton.
She was awful to me! I have never failed a math class and I had to withdraw from hers. I could not understand her and when I asked what I could do to improve in her class she literally told me to drop it. She is not nice and doesn't care.
Going to class itself and taking notes was good because of how she explained things. When we took test though there would be harder questions and they wouldnt be the same setup or anything like the example problems we were given.
Mrs. Rex really knows her stuff! She makes math as fun as it could possibly be. Her tests are tough, but she gives you practice tests which are really similar to the actual test. She won't move on from a topic until she has made sure everyone understands the subject. Would definitely take again! if you have the opportunity, take her!!
Mrs. Rex is an awesome teacher. I had her for pre -cal and I am hoping to have her for calculus as well. She is very good at teaching, even if you don't understand in class she is always willing to meet in her office to go over any questions you have. Overall Mrs. Rex is very sweet and I would recommend her to anyone.
Ms. Rex is a great teacher! I am taking her statistics with her and all my test so far I got over 90, and is not because I am a math monster, it is because the way she teaches, she is perfect!! Always looking around in class, if you have any questions. You will not regret to have her as a math teacher. I wish all teacher are like her!
Mrs. Rex was amazing, I have always had trouble with math, but she really cleared things up. She simplifies things very well, without making you feel stupid and is always willing to help. She had to leave us mid-semester but made sure to get through the super difficult stuff to make sure we understood it before leaving.
Mrs. Rex wasn't my first pick for the semester but she turn out to me my most favorite unexpected pick by the end of the semester. She is very clear in her lectures and helpful outside of class. Additionally, her test are very straightforward and she gives plenty of extra credit on homework.
I loved Rex, she was a very clear and helpful teacher. Take good notes and pay attention in class and you will be fine. No book needed, but she takes attendance though. She's young and attractive! Never been good at math, but made an A in the class. (Statistics)
Professor Rex is really good at explaining math in a way that you will understand it she is enthusiastic and always has a great attitude.
Mrs. Rex was an amazing teacher. I thought statistics would be hard, it was, but she made it easy and fun. She takes the time out to help you and gives extra help even after class. She is really fun and understanding. Don't push off your homework, do it once it is assigned!!!!! My only warning is don't take it over the Summer. It was really fast.
She's quick, and I'd recommend going to every class bc you might miss important information. She makes things easy to understand. Small amount of hw every week OL, test every few chapters, no quizzes. She does post printable lecture notes for you to fill out in class. Doesn't provide a lot of feedback on tests and the review days don't help a ton.
Ms. Rex is funny and young. Her lectures are very helpful and attendance is super important. If you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will pass.
My favorite professor who inspired my love for math! Absolutely hilarious but also professional. Doesn't mind you drinking in class or texting as long as your phone is silent and you don't distract anyone. Pay attention, don't be afraid to ask questions - she's very nice. DO THE HOMEWORK! Quizzes are open hw.
If you need to take this class fid another professor.
Seems to be a nice person until she feels that she is being attacked or ignored, and then she becomes petty and slightly hostile. But I guess when you smile the whole time it's supposed to make it seem better? Lets also mention the fact that you MUST use 3 different sites for her stats class. Doesn't take late homework, exam reviews don't help.
This is statistics so if you don't show up it's going to make it harder to learn what is going on in class. But she is amazing and has a lot of other ways for you to learn so that way your not completely lost all you have to do is ask. Moms she is amazing and has helped me when a sitter is sick. Highly recommend.
I took Calculus 1 with her and I would definitely take her again. She is nice, super helpful inside and outside class, and she is good teacher . She did not have any homework online so you can save money there. All you need is the book. She checks homework every test day, she does not correct them , she does make sure you tried to do it.
Dr. Rex is a great professor. This is my second time taking Calc 2 and the way she taught made it understandable. I think the ball was dropped on Chp 9, but I don't know if it was her teaching or just the subject in general. You will have hw quizzes and group projects (they help!) but she is very approachable and will help when needed!
Rex is a great professor. If you talk while she is attempting to teach a concept, she will call you out, duh, since you are disrupting to those around you and distracting her from teaching. If you are attentive, attend every class, and complete the homework, you'll pass easily. I'm an English major, math is by no means my forte, but I'm doing great
Lecture is clear, material is difficult. Algebra intensive with multi-step concepts, so PRACTICE. Do the HW for practice (checks random problems), ask questions if you need help, go to workshops (bonus on exams), and you will do well. She is incredibly helpful one-on-one during office hours. Replaced lowest exam with final comprehensive if needed.
I've taken 4 classes with her; Trig, Precalc, Cal 1, Elements of Stats. Her lectures are always clear and very helpful, she goes through everything step by step if you ask her to. Any homework she gives you will be harder but if you get through that her tests are 10x times easier. Show up and participate and email her your questions, she cares.
Dr. Rex is a great teacher. There is a lot of homework for this particular class, but with meaning. She also gives projects every class (which make up a huge majority of your grade) for you to practice the problems. Quizzes are based on homework, super easy.
Rex is a great professor. She exceeded my expectations in the classroom. She really does a great job of making sure you can understand the topics that are covered. She even uses funny videos or memes which can make the class more interesting.
She teaches math very well and she genuinely enjoys teaching it. I took Cal II with her and it was great. She's always willing to help and is very easy going. If you want to get an A, do the homework and go to the workshops.
I took her for Calc 1 and am now in statistics she is the best!
Attendance is done on TopHat and is counted as a grade. She is super nice and her reviews are very similar to her exams. Her teaching style works for most people and she takes feedback after every exam on what she could do better, and she actually attempts to make the class better throughout. I would definitely take her again.
Very good at teaching. Does an excellent job of putting concepts at a bottom shelf and explaining conversationally; so, easy to understand. Very soft spoken, no talking when she is. Do NOT buy the yellow OpenStax book - free pdf online. Tries to be hip (white top/bottom text memes, etc) but out of touch with student culture; but still kinda funny.
This class was very easy so long you do the homework. She uses Tophat in class, which is actually pretty helpful. She provides all the formulas for the exams. Her lectures drag.
Do the homework, take notes, and you'll pass. Boring lectures, she would spend up to 40 minutes going over 1-2 simple problems. She's not afraid to snap or embarrass you if she feels like you're disrupting her class. The tests are relatively easy, she has a nice grading scale where even if you get a problem wrong you get points for trying.
Okay I had her for Stats and rated her kinda harshly but I had her again for Calculus I and my opinion's completely changed. She really is very nice and tries her best to help students succeed (extra cred, personally reaching out if you're struggling). I was so scared for Calc but she goes step by step and explains clearly what she's doing.
Mrs. Rex is awesome! I struggled in the class (and was very certain I was gonna fail) but I still managed to pass with her help and tutoring. I would definitely recommend taking her.
Rex is AMAZING! I am horrible at math but she made Cal 1 easy to understand and gave alot of extra credit opportunities. She doesn't want anyone to fail but that being said you gotta work for your grade. Rex posts her notes online and office hours are extremely helpful. Take her if you have the chance!
I love her class! Her lectures are very clear and easy to understand. She is the nicest person, and genuinely cares about her students, she is always willing to help! I plan on taking statistics with her next semester. She has 2 HW assignments due every week, but they are quick and easy. The tests are also easy, and she posts reviews for them.
She knows what shes doing but calc 2 is a hard class. she doesnt give many extra credit options, only the work shops. her grading scale is weird 1 question is worth 5 points so she doesnt give you points for trying. there is a lot of hw and she doesnt grade it. but you can use the hw during some of the quizzes. the tests are hard.
Professor Rex is an excellent instructor and made sure to go slow when needed. I did not buy the required graphing calculator for Statistics, and Professor Rex went above and beyond and provided me extra formulas to use so I could keep up with the class.
Rex is outstanding. She is always available for questions, and makes concepts so clear in class. She makes an effort to get to know each of her students, and how they learn best. She was the best math professor that I've ever had. I highly recommend her. Calc isn't easy, but she makes challenging concepts clear and gives extra credit!
Dr. Rex is an amazing teacher! She does her best and gives everyone an opportunity to make up their grades. She understands that math, especially calculus, is hard. Make sure you communicate with her and participate! She is really cool! Highly recommend!
Mrs. Rex was pretty great. She was very responsive to questions and was overall easy to work with, lectures were organic and well-paced, webwork wasn't too difficult. She also uploads videos to youtube that proved to be helpful in even classes outside of her own. Would say to go for her classes if available.
Rude and condescending
She made things a little hard to understand. I had to work really hard to pass the class.
Rex is a pretty good math teacher. She is nice and will give you points for attempting the problem.
If I could give her a 0 out of 5, I would.
Do NOT take this class.
She goes through problems way too fast. She seems to be rude sometimes. Her tests were really hard and I struggled a lot on them.
Boring
This was a very hard class. I had a hard time especially with her tests. I studied a lot and showed up to workshops but I still got a C.
She gives you all the formulas for the exams and let's you make your own cheat sheet for exams. Multiple attempts on quizzes, Easy A. The platform she uses for homework is great! It explains why you got things wrong and gives hints on how to solve. She is pretty good at responding promptly to emails and questions.
I didnt really learn much in this when she was teaching it. I learned more from the internet than I did in the actual class. The tests are kind of hard and very stressful.
She is amazing at teaching in the new online format. Small and easy to understand videos for every concept of stats. She offers plenty of practice tests and homework to practice with before quizzes and exams. Very good professor!
I asked what I could do for extra credit and she basically told me to just do the work, which is exactly what I had been doing but getting bad grades. An online math class during a pandemic is a hard thing to get used to and theres no pity here for anyone that struggles with math especially without the help of a classroom setting. Beware.
You have small assignments due every day (Mon-Thurs) rather than having a lot due at once. She records video lectures and then you have like 10 problems to do. Her video lectures are clear and to the point. She's great at communicating and if you need help she or her teaching assistant is there for you. Just do the assignments and you'll be fine.
Mrs. Rex had very well laid out online presentations. She was always quick to answer emails and helped out in any ways she could. She gives options of extra credit and attendance in lectures is only necessary if you have a B or lower. She made statistics as interesting as she could. Ten out of ten teacher!
Professor Rex was one of the better math teachers I have had. She provides great lecture videos to watch for online students, and when I need extra help on something, she is great at responding. She also offered zoom classes that were optional if we wanted to ask for more help. I usually hate math, but she made it much better. Just pay attention.
Professor Rex would be one of my toughest teachers this semester. Statistics online is not fun, especially when you're timed. Overall the class was fun as you got to work on your own pace, it does take her a while to answer your emails, so if it's urgent send her multiple emails.
Professor Rex made stats extremely easy! Short assignments/lectures were spread out over the week, 2-3 a week. Optional Zoom meetings were available. Livestream tutoring was always offered at least 2x/week. Professor Rex provided easy-to-follow notes/video lectures. Tests followed the practice tests/quizzes. Highly recommend taking her course!!
The class was taught good but what she went over in class was hardly ever on the tests and if its the online tests with honorlock they will lock you out if you even move the wrong way.
So I am seeing a lot of people rating Ms Rex that were in my semester, and anything lower than a 4 is unacceptable. I will admit it took some time to get back in email sometimes, however, she took on MANY students this semester, hundreds. She made multiple practice tests, study guides, and worksheets, if you did poorly in her class it is on you.
She is perhaps my favorite Professor I had during the Spring 2021 Semester. She is really accessible and understanding of student's situations. She helped work the course around my surgery, and was quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. She is an excellent professor! If you have to take Statistics, you should choose Mrs. Rex!
Mrs. Rex was absolutely amazing! She made stats completely accessible, and it ended up being my favorite class this semester! Her lectures were very thorough, and her notes were very helpful. She was always quick to respond if I had a question, and she organized the course very well! If you're scared of stats, take it with her! She's a real gem!
Really nice and very understanding of mental health issues. Her lectures are concise and clearly teach the concepts. Would definitely take again.
As someone who's not good at math, statistics was a challenge, but I passed with an A thanks to Ms. Rex. She's very caring and knowledgable and does everything she can to help you succeed. There were plentiful options for support from her and the TA's. The coursework is demanding and a bit test heavy, but I'm so grateful to Ms. Rex for her help.
An absolutely amazing professor! Took her summer stats and it was a lot of work, but it was completely doable. I recommend watching every lecture as she gives great examples and teaches how to incorporate excel to make the class equations easier to do.
Ms. Rex is a wonderful professor! I took her for Elements of Statistics and was super nervous about taking an online math class. But, she made the experience an awesome one! Everything is done through the online book software, so while you do not have to read the chapters, you do have to purchase the online book. I would definitely take again!
I love Mrs. Rex and would recommend taking her for Elements of Statistics online to anyone. She does short videos followed by questions for each chapter section instead of hour long lectures. It makes it so much easier to follow. Shes also super sweet. She emailed me twice to congratulate me on my grades/progress. 100% would take her again.
As a person, Professor Rex is an absolutely gem - kind, caring, understanding, etc. That aside, the course work was pretty difficult. This is a college level math class, so evidently this is going to be everyones critique. There were daily assignments M-TH with 10% off per day late. Assignments started taking 2-3hrs/day after the first month
Professor Rex was awesome. She's attentive and thorough with her explanations. She's very nice but will not be taken advantage of. Her expectations are clearly outlined so there can be no discrepancies (no playing dumb). Expect to spend around 8-10 hours a week. It's work but you can easily do well if you give the lectures your full attention.
I loved this class. The online course was set up great and the lectures were so helpful. Professor Rex is a caring professor and makes sure that you understand material. There are so many opportunities to get help. The majority of your grade is off of the midterm and final but if you study and put in the work, you'll do good. Would highly recommend
I truly suck at math, I always have, but this professor was so helpful! About halfway through the course, I was reaching my cap, the online zoom lectures (optional when I took this class) were so helpful. You definitely need to reach out to the professor/aids if you feel like you'll fail the test (I did, but ended up fine!).
Ms. Rex is a superb teacher in a subject that tends to be tough and not well liked. Her explanations and instructions are simple and detailed, and she takes small steps with hard concepts in order for you to understand the how and why. Keep practicing your problems, and you will do well
I took Statistics online with Mrs. Rex. I think she is a pretty good teacher and would probably be better in person. My only complaint is that it is a lot of work. However, you can work ahead when you need to and she offers plenty of resources.
Mrs. Rex is a great Stat teacher. Her course is very organized, and it has been set up for student success. There is one 10 question quiz (two attempts) every week, a mid-term and a final. Her lessons are short and sweet and works great with an online course. She also replies to emails in a timely manner. One of the best math teachers I've had!
Miss Rex is a truly awesome teacher that really does care about her students. Get ready to study though.
I am a senior and STA2023 is the hardest class I've ever taken. After the first week, I spent at least 4 hours per day M-T doing the work for this class. The workload was so heavy that it made me want to take a bunch of bennedryl and forget about life for a while. There were several options for extra help/credit. Mrs. Rex cares about your success.
She is an excellent professor. The way she explains is fantastic, and if you don't understand, she is available to explain to you until you get it. Homework is a bit long but nothing complicated. Only thing I am not a fan of group projects. For the rest, being in a class with her is the best. TOP PROFESSOR!
Prof. Rex is awesome! She definitely cares about her students & it shows. She puts a lot of effort into her lecture videos & she responds to emails fairly quickly. I would definitely take her again in the future.
Rex is a great professor! Stats can be confusing sometimes but she tried to make sure everyone understood it. She cares about student feedback as well. We had a group project but not sure if she will be doing that again. There are study guides and practice tests for all the tests that are similar to the real test. Lecture videos were posted
Paces the class in a way that favors the student (sections not covered in lecture are either not on the quiz/test or offered as bonus). There's a large disconnect in the level of difficulty between the lecture examples, the homework, the succession session problems, and the quizzes/tests (difficult). TAs wear failure rate like a badge of courage.
Professor Rex is probably the best professor I've had at UWF. She makes all of the notes that she's going to go over in class available online from day 1 so students can print them/have them on a tablet for lecture. Great prof, really funny, always available, and I'll be specifically looking for her when registering for future math classes.
New assignment every day of the week which can get overwhelming, but shes caring.
I never thought I would say that I liked a stats class but here I am. I truly enjoyed Dr. Rex's class. She took everyday situations and showed how stats was utilized in them. The way she posted lectures in tiny bites vs a whole drawn out lesson was very beneficial. Even during the homework she would post extra videos to help.
The first time in a long time that I can say math was my favorite class. Professor Rex is amazing. She made every chapter so incredibly clear and easy to understand. She is also very flexible and willing to help you if you need it. Her final is a group project that lasts the whole semester. My only recommendation is make sure you have a good group.
Prf. Rex is a really nice person and U can tell she loves her Job. But if you're not a "math person", a lot of the things she teaches can go over your head. I always felt like there were easier ways to explain things but she always took a more abstract route; best part of this course was that the practice midterm was exactly like the real thing.
Group project instead of a final which was fantastic, 4 quizzes, and weekly hw which takes forever to do. Prof. Rex is a great teacher and tries to connect things and explain things in a way that everyone can understand. She does the best she can for a room full of 90 students lol. Shes also free outside class. Best case senario for stats imo.
I took Mrs. Rex's class after being out of school for several years and had to ask questions about how to work the calculator when the class began. The class was very challenging, but Mrs. Rex's lecture videos are done well. She was also available to answer questions over email. I would highly recommend taking her class.
Quizzes are worth most of your grade. and said by Rex herself, that if you do poorly on more than one you're guaranteed to fail the class
Mrs. Rex is the gold standard for a lecturer! In lieu of a final exam - there is a semester-long group project. I highly suggest utilizing an existing data set on Kaggle as opposed to gathering your own data. Mrs. Rex asks questions via learning catalytics in class that play a big part in your final grade. Take her class and show up!
Prof Rex made me seriously consider a major in statistics for at least a quick second. I've never been good at math but she made statistics so easy. Her online video instructions are incredible and the MyLab Mastering is some great software. If she's available to take for any math class I'd have her again as my professor in a heartbeat. 10/10.
I'm TERRIBLE at math! Seriously, I'm awful, &I hate math! But this was an AWESOME class! Mrs. Rex is great, especially teaching the on-line tutorials, & the videos associated w/the material. I actually enjoyed this class once I learned how to break down the formulas. I'd consider taking another statistics course based on my experience in her class
Professor Rex does an incredible job breaking down everything you need to understand about the various variable and formulas you'll be working with in this class. Her lectures are very thorough and she is readily available to reach online and very quick to respond, as are her TAs. Do the voluntary extra credit she offers -- it's well worth it!
She cares a lot about attendance but is very understanding you just have to email her. There were 11 homework assignments on pearson, 3 online quizzes (lockdown browser and camera), 1 group project which is basically your entire grade (present this with your group on exam day), and 1 final quiz. You have to pay attention to understand anything.
Mrs. Rex is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Her lectures were really good and she gave notes to fill out during the lecture. The class had a lot of homework and the quizzes were difficult, but as long as you finished the assignments you could still get an A. However, I didn't like the group project at the end.
She explains things like you're just learning math, and it's honestly great. A group project was done the entire semester, you pick the topic, and it was great because I had a good group. She posts the filled out notes, and gives practice exams that are the same as the actual exam. Very good at clarifying if you don't understand, I liked her.
If you do not have a friend in the class, you are pretty much doomed to work with whoever she puts you in a group together. Her lectures takes first 30-40 mins, after that you'd work on in-class work, cause of that classroom gets so noisy and loud. I had hard time concentrating or doing any work. If you like to work by yourself, do not take her.
Great explanations, and will reword/re-explain anything you may not understand. Very nice. Great feedback. Very understanding.
Prof. Rex makes stats engaging with her interactive lectures and helpful videos. The group project instead of a final is a nice touch. For study prep, ChatGPT and unstuck study were lifesavers.
One of those hyped up & overrated professor. You'd have a better time in her class if you're good at brown nosing. It may seem fun but nothing really sticks with you from her course.
This class has a ton of math and memorization.
There is a group project.
I was having a hard time with stats and this was my second time taking it and I passed it in a 8 weeks summer course. There is no group project at least not for the summer course. The quiz homework practice and the quiz practice you take before the actual quizzes are the same questions on the quiz so practice with those, you will see them on there.
Super great math professor. She is very good at teaching and answering questions. She is fair with the amount of work. It may seem like a lot of work but with math that's how it is sometimes. She grades on a 5-point scale so If you got half of it right you can still get 3 points for the question.
i thought i would never survive this class because my math skills are abysmal, especially in an online setting. however, her lectures were straightforward and clear. with enough studying and dedication i was able to make it out alive. if it wasn't her and some past professor i had before, i'm not sure i would have. you can tell she cares!
Probably one of the best professor's I have had. The attendance is not mandatory but each class has participation grades. They don't effect your grade if you don't skip class a lot.
If you want to pass statistics and actual learn what you're studying take this class with Professor Rex. Her class is very organized and she is an amazing lecturer. It's not an easy class because of its nature but she breaks it up in to building blocks. You have to make the time and effort and she gives you all the resources to learn and pass.
I had a rough start. I had no idea how my skills matched up to the subject in the beginning and bombed the first quiz. After extensive tutoring, I started making consistently good grades. She cares and readily answers questions in class, even if they're kind of stupid. She seemed invested in my growth and I think that helped me, if just a little.
