She makes a dry subject an enjoyable class. Has a lot of experience in teaching the subject. Nice lady. Exams are all short essays. A few of the problems are tough.

She knows what she's talking about. Makes the class interesting with actually examples. She explains material the way you can actually understand. Tests are easy if you know the key terms of the subject- overall take her if you can- you actually learn!
Tests were not difficult and she gave me a grade that was better than I felt I deserved. I recommend her cause she was clear and approachable.
Excellent instructor who gives great examples and speaks about instances that occur in real life rather than in theory. Is always helpful and will always answer any questions. Exams are clear but require you have the ability to string sentence together.
Great great teacher! Good Explanation! It's a funny class! Essay exam but only short answers required. Willing to help. If you study, you will get an A. In the exam, only 1 or 2 are tricky. The other are fair.
Uses a lot of real-life examples to illustrate BLAW concepts, really helps. She answers questions until everyone really understands. Very Approachable and helpful. She generally doesn't put you on the spot in class either. Recommend
Easy class if you take notes/do homework. Most of the time he justs asks random questions
HArd tests! pretty clear with the material, interesting class because she is a lawyer, A lot of homwwork( 5-6 cases/hw) HATE it. Overall ok, not recommended if u are not have critical thinking!
One of the best instructors I have ever had . Really wonderful personality! Highly recommend taking her class.best Bus LAW teacher.
she is kind of a **** sometimes.lots of HW,
Excellent Professor
Excellent professor. Very clear lectures. Only tests what she covers. She even openly tells you which sections to focus on prior to the midterms. Fair grader. Highly recommend her. I would def take her again, anytime.
She's a practising lawyer, and so she knows her stuff. Gives tons of real life examples from her practice. Her tests will be hard if you don't understand the concepts. 2 midterms and 1 final, all short answer types (hypothetical situations where you have to apply laws) There is a lot of homework. Learned a lot! Highly recommend this class.
She makes the material interesting because she uses real life examples and things she's experienced herself. She assigns briefs and problems for each chapter but they aren't hard. Read the chapter, go to class and takes notes and youll do good. Our final was cummulative so be ready.
Just had the final. Not sure how I did it. She is an excellent teacher. Very nice person. First law class that I really enjoyed. Her multiple choice tests are very hard. She will give you headache on her tests.
Totally recommend her!!! she is a great professor, explains with great examples. test are kinda hard but as long as you study the material you will get a B or A. but get ready to breif all cases in the book! but its not that bad. take her if your looking to learn about law and looking to get a good grade at the same time!
Prof. Ross is a very good teacher explains very well, for a BLAW class i hoped she would have had some sort of essay questions on her test but all she had were multiple choice, which at times could be very tricky. As long as you go to class listen to lectures do your briefs and review you should pass the class.
tests are hardddd,if you can take small classes with her cause she gives them essay questions.
She's great!!! I took her saturday class (about 35 people)and she was very clear and down to the point. We took essay exams (10 very-short questions per exam) and as long as you make your case, she'll give you full credit. It helps reading the book, but if you're in class you won't need to. I really liked her class :)
Even though she was very helpful in review days, the class was vedry hard. the multiple choice exams are the hard ones!!!
Take her Saturday class. She gives essays and is way easier that the week day class. She is very clear, very cool and great personality. Gives real life examples and she is also a practicing lawyer!
Great teacher, very understanding and helpful. Her sat. class is better, she gives essay Q's. The class is a lot of work but you will learn a lot. Gives good examples, and explains realy well. Do HW problems, the exams have similar problems.
Great teacher. Witty and down to earth. Works with students when she can. Wiling to do what it takes to be sure her students get decent grades. Her Saturday class is great!
She's really nice and helpful. She'll answer your question until you understand it. Tell's you what you need to know and goes over the main points of each chapter. Make sure you fully understand the briefs, and do the practice problems, and you'll do find. Tests aren't too hard and she's a fair grader.
her knowledge is straight from experience. if you take notes on everything she said, you wont really need the textbook. There is a homeweok assignment every week (not graded) and two midterms and final. If she doesn't like how you write, even though you have the correct answer, she wont give you a good grade on the essays. good luck
i found her lectures to be very helpful. she basically covers the most important concepts of the chapters in class and makes sure students understand them before she moves on. the lectures are also very clear and easy to follow. she curves the test.
Great Teacher! Answers questions, clearly covers the material, relates the material to real life... The test are essay and multiple choice. She covers all the material and emphasizes key terms. Take this teacher!
this is the best teacher i have EVER had. she makes the information very understandable. take her if you want to learn. she is GREAT!
LOVE HER.She moved her class to a larger room just so that a few us in the waiting list could add. SUPER SMART & FAIR. Take her Saturday class if u can.M/C tests and a few essay questions.FINAL is cumulative but GIVES GREAT REVIEWS. If you're lazy, this class isn't for you. You'll have to brief several cases, which is what a BLaw class is all about!
Prof. Ross is a nice person. She tought BUS 302 which is a ridiculous class. You dont learn anything.TOTAL TIME WAISTE!It is true she picks students that she likes so try to be nice to her. Overall friendly and cool. For BUS 302 you should take her, there are some that worse than her!
1st semester teaching 302. Had other guy with the "tongue" thing teach mainly. I didnt quite understand her grading or justifications for grades, my group got low B's and C's on the cases, but all of us ended up with B's as final grades. So no complaints. Class is pointless. I learned nothing. I'm not blaming her, its the BUS dept.
She sticks to the main topics. Contracts and Liability for Principle/Agents, Partnerships, and Corporations. 1st exam got a D. Didn't study. 2nd exam and Final exam got B's. Final grade a B. Just show improvement and you'll do fine. KNOW THE RULES THAT APPLY & explain your justification. Don't beat around the bush, cuz she'll dock you points.
Very charismatic for an extremly intellegent person. Warm and friendly to students but holds students responsible for work.
She is very helpful and fair. Her tests are a little hard, but she really prepares you for it. Also, if she sees the class struggling, she will slow down as well as curve the grades. Do all of the briefs cuz thats what she looks at when determining the final grade. I would definitely recommend her. Put some work in and get an A or B.
She is a great teacher. She will use real life examples to explain the laws. Do all of the cases, and study prior to exams. They can be hard.
great teacher she doesn't give much A's though.
Very friendly and helpful to students. Amazingly fair grader. Expert in business law.
She is tough on grading cases, make sure to revise well before turning in. Individual presentation is graded solely on presentation & not content so try to memorize everything. Despite being in one of the worst groups ever & getting bad grades on all the cases I managed 2 get a C+ as an overall grade. Just hope u don?t stuck w/ a lazy group.
Excellent! No one likes Gateway, but since we all have to take it, she's a great choice!! She is a very hard grader, but she grades on how a group is getting better. She grades a lot on the presentation and grammar! DO NOT TURN ANYTHING IN WITHOUT EDITING AT LEAST 3 TIMES!!! SHe is a big grammar advocate! I highly recommend her to everyone!
Love Her! Great teacher...really knows her stuff very clear instrctions..I got stuck with a terrible group but she took that into consideration when grading me...TAKE HER!!
I clearly had a different class experience from the other reviewers. I found this class to be boring, not informative, confusing with no clear direction. Overall score for instructor: "poor"
Awesome professor! So helpful, straight to the point & tells u exactly how she wants it done. You need the book but the ebook may be better to carry around. Funny and blunt. Easy to relate. Tests are tricky but she helps with the reviews. Don't miss class!! 1 midterm 1 final and do the homework!!! it helps
Test are based on he lectures, listen and you will get a B. do the readings and you will get an A. amazing professor. tests a essay format but do not be scared, answers can be short paragraphs. Clear, easy to speak with. trust me and just take her
DO NOT RECOMMEND. Extremely tough grader and asking for help is like pulling teeth. The case reports get confusing but she treated you like if you were dumb if you asked for help. It was mortifying. She was not nice at all. Hardly ever in a good mood. She runs out as soon as class is over. I passed thanks to my group. Get a good group to pass!
Found Professor Ross's class to be challenging but rewarding. Learned much about proper case writing. Important to note that she grades on improvement as well. I.E., just because you got a C on a case, doesn't mean you're destined to get a C in the class.
I really enjoyed this class and I liked Ross. Expect after the first month of class to be writing a case study/ analysis every 2 weeks. 2 presentations graded on how you present rather than content. Warning* lots of group work. Only complaint Ross doesnt know stats so at least 1 group member better learn quick. DO NOT BUY 302 MANUAL
I actually didnt mind this class too much. The grading criteria is very clear and straightforward and i thought she was very nice. The work wasnt even that much since you do every assaignment/presentation in groups.
Ross does her best to accommodate her students. There is only 1 exam, based on ethics so MEMORIZE! If Ross does not know how to do certain parts of the case econ, stats, or acct all you have to do is ask her who to go to. She really is not that bad of a teacher like people say she is. They just didn't go to office hours or ask for help.
Everyone told me that Gateway was going to be very hard, but Professor Ross made it very enjoyable. Just make sure to follow the format cause she care the most about the structure of your case. Listen to the lecture cause she pretty much gives you the answer when she lecture about the case. Not a hard class.
For a BLAW course, there are other professors you may want to look for. She is a nice professor, however she seems to be a tough grader. It's all about precision for her exams, the final is worth 60% cumulative & even after giving us the main topics and knowing everything about them and including everything about the rule I still got a low score
I like her. She tells you what is expected and doesn't put up with ridiculous questions from people who don't pay attention. If you need a ton of hand holding or someone to tell you how wonderful you are, don't take her class. If you like to get straight to the point, she's the one for you.
Spring 18. You don't get to choose your group. Submit your papers on time cause SHE WILL NOT TAKE LATE PAPERS by any circumstances (trust me!) FOLLOW her format for every case. 3 cases + 1 group presentation+ an ethics essay. I would definitely take her again. She gives you the answers for each case, so pay attention. She's a lawyer so good luck!
She is a good professor. She goes straight to the point so be smart and pay attention because she's not going to deal with irrelevant questions. No need to buy the book everything is online. If both your group and yourself do their parts you are good, but you have to work for it. The class is not that bad but turn in your work on time!
I wish I have been warned before going into this class because we had no idea what our grade ware until she uploaded it to solar. She's a decent professor, however this class gave me anxiety.
She is a very tough grader. Even for gateway, most of the classes had below 60% on their group paper. shes a solid and good professor but the grading was just harder than i was expecting. She gives everyone advice that most people don't realize it can help them significantly. PAY ATTENTION IN HER CLASS. It will be worth it.
She is AMAZING. Very clear professor. Do what she says and you'll pass. Dry humor- which I love. Don't ask stupid questions. Take her you won't regret it!!! I wish I could take her again!
Tough grader. All the work is done in groups which she picks for you. I do believe that your group decides your grade unless you're willing to do all of the work and you write well to get an A as all (4) of the assignments are 10-page analysis. That said, she always lets the class out early, and I've heard worse stories about other BUS professors.
Professor Ross is a great professor. She grades you based on improvement. She tries to make gateway as painless as possible. She goes straight to the point with no filler. She gives you the case answers, but cares about your analysis and FORMATTING! Also, two words, GROUP WORK! Groups are chosen based on your time availability. Would take again.
I didn't learn anything from this class to be honest! She is not clear in grading! You don't know your grade till she posted in Canvas! Don't take her!
Old school whiteboard lecture, likes people who participate. 1 midterm, 1 cumulative final, weekly hw that she doesn't grade on correctness. Exams are very fair and study guides extremely useful. Attendance is not mandatory, but I skipped class a while and came back very lost despite reading. Examples explained in class v helpful to testing.
Bus 302 is a hard class overall and Ross was a good professor but the #1 best way to do the best in this class is your group. 4-5 group papers that are graded hard, small group presentation, large group presentation that is graded individually and a in class final writing assignment.
She is Very good at teaching. Her lectures are useful in real life. Ive learned a lot from her. She tells you what exactly you should write on exams. Very cool professor. I respect her a lot.
Worst experience ever! Dont take her if you are a good student and want an A. She will make that impossible for you. She grades subjectively ,not based on your knowledge and capabilities.
Professor Lauren was straight to the point with the class. With our class switching to online towards the end of second semester she did the best she could to teach. Good Feedback. Lots of group work. She is tough on the grading but follow directions and meet with your group regularly you'll pass.
Professor Ross is straight to the point in her class. She does prefer students to ask questions regarding what was read in the text book. She does give out a study guide for the Mid-term and Final. Take good notes and understand the material, you will pass. Oh ask questions if you do not understand.
Bus302 is a brutal class. The group that you end up in (you do not pick your group) will change how much work this class is for you. If you want a decent grade, but have people that do not care or are not willing to do their part, it will be a long semester for you. Be honest with people that are not helping early or they will ride your work.
Very rude professor and not helpful at all. She doesn't have a grading scale and just give grades based on her opinion of you. AVOID
The whole class is based on group projects. Good luck to have a decent group.
DO NOT take her if you ask a lot of questions and like clear instructions. She gets offended when you ask questions... She expects work to be at a professional lawyer level even though we are undergraduates. Does not give clear instructions or a grading rubric at all. Tough grader and terrible instructor IMO
Prof Ross does not give clear instructions nor clear grading criteria. Class is supposed to be 2 hours long and she only talks for 30minutes. My group along with other groups in the class failed 2 papers and finally did better on the last one. Shes definitely a TOUGH GRADER and does not take criticism or questions well.
I love her lecture. First I was so scared of the grading system because midterm 35%, homework 5%, and final 60%. Yes basically if you fail final you fail the class. I am actually working for a corporation now and whatever she taught me is very useful in real life. I am so thankful to Prof Ross. Now I can protect myself from all nonsense. Thank you
Professor Ross was a solid choice for Gateway Experience. She makes sure to put her students in the best position to pass. You will be doing written reports and presentations in your groups during the semester, based on several cases. This teaches students the value of teamwork.
She is very helpful and kind. She cares for her students and will help you in anything. Easy grader. Her organization skills are confusing at times. You have to double check what is due and when all the time. She doesnt record lectures and lots of group projects. Cases are pretty interesting. Other than that I recommend.
disorganized, easy grader, easy group assignments
Do not recommend taking this class with this professor. This class is a waste of time yet CSUN makes you take it. She grades way too hard and doesn't explain well all of the things you need in the different reports.
I took this class online: gives bad feedback, doesn't give you over all grade until after registration for next semester. doesn't lecture, unenthusiastic, HARD GRADER. Good luck - I've heard shes better in her other courses.
Dont believe any reviews saying she is a easy grader or explains well. She is the Hardest Grader I have met. For Example the "entire Class got less than 60% on the first and second and third paper" quote from Professor Ross. If the entire class is failing the class is not the problem
She is the terrible professor ever! Dont take her classes otherwise, there are no more classes that exist! She doesnt teach anything! Each group has to do about 5 or 6 cases for the whole semester, however, we finished our semester however she didnt grade them at all!! You dont know your grade till it will post on the portal! Thats ridiculous!
Don't take her class unless you are fine seeing your GPA free falling. If you are a student who doesn't do anything you will end up in a group whose members will do the job for you and you will get a grade you didn't earn. IF YOU ARE AN A STUDENT, this class is not for you. This class's grade is a surprise box, you never know what it is.
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER. I have never been afraid to ask questions in a class but this professor is so rude. She will yell at you if you have a question. She does not grade things till semester is over. I am an A student and this teacher was ridiculous.
During my time at CSUN Lauren Ross was the worst professor I have taken. She doesn't input grades or update you until the very end of the semester. She is incredibly unpleasant and abrasive. Her lectures lack enthusiasm and make it difficult to focus. She is a tough grader and does not provide sufficient feedback to help make improvements.
By far the best professor I had at CSUN.She is very educated and knows the subject from A-Z. She is very open to any questions and is very passionate about teaching. Not only that, but she gives a list of topics that will be on the exams. In order to succeed in this class, do the reading and ask questions if you are lost, otherwise you will do bad.
Lecture ppts. are available online, hw is only 5% of your grade, and mid-terms and finals are doable.
No grading criteria. Everything is done on paper like in kindergarten. Forget about submitting assignments online. Zero feedback. You don't know your grade up until you get it at the end of the semester. You can be an A student and she will gladly ruin your GPA. The worst thing is that there is no good professor for this specific class.
She's super chill and lenient! she just wants her students to show improvement. Be sure you find a good group because all of the 5 case studies are done collaboratively in which one is presented to the class. You will definitely do bad on the first or maybe even couple of cases, but if you show improvement throughout the semester she will pass you!
She is a very good lecturer. I would say that it would be nearly impossible to understand the material if you do not come to class, though she does not take attendance. There's weekly homework that takes less than an hour to complete and has little effect on your grade whatsoever. Two midterms and a final make up most of your grade in the class.
Very good professor. A real lawyer and really knows what she's talking about. Lectures great and helps you really understand the material. 2 midterms and a final but she gives study guides and literally samples the questions from the test as examples. Wants you to succeed and chill af. Definitely take her, possibly the best professor at CSUN ngl.
Very difficult class. Participation necessary. You will fail if you get a bad group. Little instruction from professor. Unclear grading criteria's! Will fail multiple cases (like 10% fail). Stressful presentations and she asks questions. Final is an in class on paper essay on ethics. I've heard she's still better than the other BUS302 professors.
Participation required. Tough grader. Unavailable outside of class. Her assistant does grades. Exams are difficult. She has her own law practice and is very knowledgeable. Class is boring. Gotta memorize everything. There are better BLAW professors. Nanci Carr and Reid Denham are both great and very experienced. Take with one of them.
Overall the class was okay, had to really work for the grade but if your group understands the previous courses (blaw, acct, econ, stats) then you should be fine. My only problem with her is the way she grades; tracks improvement and uses the 302 rubric. I have no problem with her using the grading rubric, but she has no eye for improvement.
Her lectures are interesting. Grade is 95% tests but they're not difficult if you study and show up to class. I got a 100% on both midterms. She gives real life examples and is funny. She is a lawyer which is a plus. I usually leave a class not learning much, but I truly learned a lot. Prof. Ross is a great choice if you show up. Would take again.
Ross was eh. She is a meanie in her emails and lags hella but attendance wasn't mandatory. Lectures were interesting hw was not mandatory and only exams were for points. Exams were fair if you attended lectures. Exams were either multiple choice, long free response or both. Lectures were interesting and she teaches with examples making it easier
I love Professor Ross. She's hilarious and makes classes enjoyable and easy to stay engaged. What could be an incredibly boring topic really isn't that bad when she teaches it. Obviously the material is still dense but she makes it clear what's on the tests and what isn't. Do the readings, homework and attend class you'll easily get an A.
Idk how these comments are so nice, she has a difficult personality and loves picking on people. she makes the subject very hard (even tho its not) and makes you put in more effort than you should. Everything has to be done specifically her way. Even though she's a successful lawyer, she doesn't make a good teacher. her class lowk felt like jail
Professor Ross' BUS302 class is challenging, but engaging if you put in the work. The group projects can be tough, so finding a good team is key. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for me - it really helped with prep and studying.
Talked to people outside of classroom about own personal political beliefs and shamed other students for believing in differences of opinions. Borderline bullying students just because “she knows the law”
Class was easy if you came to the lecture and took good notes. There are two midterms, a final, and homework. The homework is only worth 1%, so make sure you do well on the exams! The exams have a lot of short-answer questions, so make sure you actually know the material.
