Professor Brown is a great psychology teacher, and I've never taken psychology before. She definitely keeps your attention, and is very energetic which makes you interested in the subject she's talking about. There is no homework in her class, and the grade is based on five exams.

If you study a little and pay attention to the power points, you'll do fine. Notes and Power Points basically cover all you need to know for the tests. You could study from text, but I didn't find it necessary.Nice teacher

Great professor. Make sure you come to class and listen and take notes and you will be fine. Uses examples to help you remember, gives plenty of notice for assignments and tests.

The notes are easy to take, and it all ends up on Blackboard. The papers are entertaining, and she genuinely loves the subject she teaches. Tests are mildly difficult but the answers are there in the notes, no surprises. She will work with you if you need it.

Lauren Brown is a really good teacher. even though she is a VERY fast speaker. I've definitely had to use a recorder to get everything she says. lol. she is smart and gives great examples to drill ideas into students heads. I would recommend her to all of you that want a bit of a challenge!

I've had Lauren for multiple Psych classes now and she is even better everytime. She is clear with the objectives for the course and what she expects of you. Her lectures are very interesting and usually full of personal experiences which make it easier to relate to the material. There is never a dull moment in Lauren's classroom. Just participate!

Absolutely love Lauren Brown. She gives you everything you need to do well in her lecture. I got a 4.0 without ever using my book. She truly made me decide to pursue a career in psychology! She made learning the brain easier than any science related professor I've ever had. + You get a note card on the final and get extra credit for the notecard.

She is by far the best professor I have had at Mott. i actually look forward to going to class. shes the reason im a psych major. She is helpful with school and personal needs. Taking notes on the power points and studying them will pretty much guarantee you to pass. There are lots of chances for extra credit as long as you actually attend class.

Can be compassionate if you have a rough situation. There was lots of note taking, Portions of lecture which are tested on are not found in the textbook. Test are 80% lecture, 20% textbook. She does offer some extra credit opportunities.

Would and am taking again. Professor Ruffin has it down and knows her stuff. Repeats essential information, encourages student participation, and will work with you reasonably. I've always loved psych courses and it's because of teachers like this one.

She is quite consistent. While her expectations are high and her tests are tough, she does provide you with everything that you need to pass. Her lectures are thorough and one can tell that she has a passion for the material. I recommend her classes and would take one of her classes again.

Lauren was a really good prof. For the most part she was very hands off since it was an online class, but if you ever needed help to understand a certain concept or topic she was always there to help. There were 5 units with 3 chapters in each unit. Each chapter had 2 quizzes and then a test and case study. I basically taught myself the material.

The only bad thing about this class is that I took it in the Spring, and there was so much information to cover. Professor Brown was informative, and she was passionate about Psychology. I learned so much in her class, and when I had a problem or didn't understand something, she made sure to explain it until I did. Excellent experience.

Professor Ruffin is an amazing teacher. She is very intelligent and knows what she's talking about. Her lectures can get very in depth so make sure you have good notes to study from.

She's married now she's Mrs. Ruffin, my first college teacher ever and still my favorite. She's funny, interesting and really cares about her students. She refers to the book in Psych 101 but honestly you don't need it. You have to write one paper get to chose from her topics her test are over exactly what she teaches take good notes and show up.

She gives about 30 extra credit points but these can only be earned by doing in class assignments. Her tests are composed of questions where you have to apply what you've learned to a situation, there is also an essay. Overall very good teacher. She is very kind and will help you with your work if you need it.

Prof Ruffin was by far the most amazing professor I've ever had. She was so passionate about the subject. Her lectures were extremely entertaining and very informative. As long as you show up, take notes and listen to the lecture this is an EASY PASS. She is such a patient professor in regards to taking question after questions during lecture.

Took this class online. I was nervous because I had read some comments about how difficult the class was. I LOVED it. Probably one of my favorite classes I've taken. As is the nature of online classes, a lot of the material you teach yourself, but if you have a question this instructor is very clear and quick to get ahold of and cares for the class

I took professor Ruffin for spring class. Study guides are the exact same compared to tests and quizzes; so if you memorize the study guide, you're set.

Although lecture was heavy and there werent many in-class assignments, taking good notes and studying well will get you a good grade. Ruffin is VERY knowledgeable. She is even willing to briefly discuss anything unrelated to the lectures. I asked her questions about IQ & the effects of marijuana on the brain & she immediately had a complex answer

Love her sooo much! I would definitely take more of her classes since I took both 250 and 220 with her. There is a lot of material but once you know how she tests it is much easier. Super sweet and understanding. Moves at a decent pace.

Professor Ruffin was very kind always. She was always willing to help whenever I needed it. She gave multiple opportunities for extra credit. All in all if you read what youre supposed to and get all your stuff done right when its assigned you will do well. Shes a great professor!

Took her class online, and it was really easy. You just take a quiz for 2-3 chapters (that you have a weeks to complete) then take a unit exam for those chapters. You have to complete 3/5 case studies. That's it! No discussion boards, super simple.

This class really made me think about changing my major to Psych! I had a great time in this class and the atmosphere in the class is really comfortable so its very easy to ask questions or even share a story. I highly recommend taking her if you have the chance and everyone else will say the same!

Such a phenomenal professor! She is the true definition of a college professor! She always pushes you to do your best, gives you multiple attempts to get 100% on an assignment on occasion (sometimes extra credit), and gives great feedback. I took her class online and would take more classes by her, if I didn't have to transfer schools. Class was work at your pace, three weeks at a time. You have to know the material to pass the exams with a good grade.

I had Prof. Ruffin for Honors Abnormal Psychology and thoroughly enjoyed her class. She gives good feedback and allows you to make revisions before the due date. Easy to contact if you have any questions and very nice.

She was my FAVORITE professor! I was struggling to understand some of the concepts and she began meeting with me regularly to explain and review my quizzes and exams with me. I've had a couple pretty unapproachable professors through Covid and she was so friendly and understanding. She holds open office hours as well!

Professor Ruffin makes it impossible for you to fail her class. She explains psychology to a degree that nobody else can and does it in a fun manner. If her class has open seats, snag one asap.

Although some of the work is hard for me to comprehend, she is always wonderful & accessible in helping me get a clearer understanding. Gives students respect, compassion, & even some extra credit. (PSYC285-WWW01) Ruffin was very understanding, and easy to reach out to. She answered questions quickly and always graded fairly. Although the book chapters are long, I recommend paying attention to them. Also the final paper requires you to observe kids age 3-5 in a learning environment (for my class anyways) and it was really cool.

Lauren Ruffin is an amazing teacher. In her lectures she provides a lot of examples from her life that really help when trying to remember the criteria. She's basically always available through email and will answer you fairly quickly.

Very happy with my first experience taking a half semester class online! She was easy to contact when I needed extra help on assignments and was the most empathetic teacher I have had in my two years at Mott. I took a class of hers online so the textbook was necessary to learn most of the content but she also supplied video lectures. She responds to emails very fast and gives great feedback on assignments. She is very helpful with all questions and is definitely a great professor! She also offered extra credit in my class!

She's committed to student success & provides emotional + academic support. When I had questions, she'd respond quickly & kindly. Her feedback is encouraging & motivating. She showed my success mattered to her, which impacted my academic performance. I went from 68% to 84% because her support pushed me to study harder. I'd recommend her to anyone!

Very engaging lectures and little graded work. In all there were only about 25 graded assignments with 4 of those being exams. Reading the textbook/watching the lectures are extremely important and will make or break you. Extremely fun class, I wish I would've taken it in person.
