She's so nice, friendly, and EASY!!!She will extend quizs and tests just to fit ur schedule, she's a very good and clear about teaching math. And she will wait for everyone to get the lesson b4 she moves on with other lessons.I strongly recommend her for math 155 cuz she's very HELPFULL.
She is demanding at first and chills out once she gets to know everyone. She likes to see that you work so make sure to go to her office hours. She is a sweetheart and a wonderful teacher!
She was sooooo nice. I'm not even going to lie though, she was really hard to follow at times. But she made it up by really taking the time to help me if I had a question. I mean she would stay up to 1 hr after class just trying to help me.
Very demanding and helpful. Very passionate about the subject too.
A very good math teacher; patienct and helpful, she is not out to make Math extra hard; good class for math-phobic students; not a lot of graded homework so must be self-motivated to assigned problems; tests are not hard, no surprises; very nice person.
Mean at first, but evolves to a little bit nicer individual. Very hard to follow most of the time. She lectures to fast and goes overtime. Happy to say I passed with a B, but only because I studied my book. When the class was lost, she wasn't even aware. This is my least liked instructor since I've been here. entire class will agree she's confusing
Laurice wants you to succeed. She finds many ways to give added points throughout the semester and is very accomodating. A little hard to understand, and goes a bit fast, but will try to go at the classroom's pace. Truly wants you to comprehend the material and is very passionate about her work!
This is the most fantastic math teacher I have ever had. You will get used to her (cute!) accent-just pay attention, she is easy to follow. She is the only one who has ever explained word problems in a way that MAKES SENSE! She builds a wonderful foundation for those intimidated by math-attend every class, points accrued by in class quizes.
I was very intimidated and unsure of my math skills before this class, avoided taking it untill last, however Mrs. Mogannom has turned my attitude around and now I love math and think it is fun. I highly, stress-highly, recommend everyone taking her class.
I was told by another teacher that I "could not handle this class." However, SHE ALLOWS FOR A PAGE OF NOTES ON ALL TESTS! So far, I am getting good grades in her class. She is really good at explaining every detail so that I get the greater picture. She is an excellent teacher. I highly recommend her for those who have trouble in algebra.
She's nice and funny. She explains in the simplest ways that makes you understand. Tests are fairly easy if you study and understand the material. Over all I liked her class and how she taught. I learned more in her class then my previous math teacher.
she gives extra credit opportunities almost every day. never collects homework. but she doesn't make a lot of sense. if you aren't already good at math, it's really hard. if you have a question, she will TRY to explain it, but just repeats herself and doesn't help. she tries though. and really wants to help. but she doesn't. it sucks.
I wouldn't recommend taking her. She doesn't give you a syllabus, It's also pretty much impossible to get ahold of her. You call her voicemail but AFTER you leave her one she tells you no to (b/c she doesn't check them) & then tells u to e-mail her but NEVER checks her e-mail. She also gets very frustrated if you don't understand something.
She cares about math, and her students. She is always willing to help when students have questions. Homework was never collected! but as with any math class, if you don't do the homework...you can fall behind for tests.
If you need help and you ask her she will help you. But hard to understand in class & she's kind of mea if you ask a question. Will make fun of you a lot & make you feel stupid. Also makes fun of your handwriting in front of the whole class, and 1 of those teachers that will find n/e thing for you to do to keep you to the last second of class.
She keeps you on your feet with homework, but is completely fair with your test. She is great overall. The only problem; don't take the class in mid afternoon, all to 18 & 19 yr olds are in there and still act like they are in high school. They take away from the experience.
She's an alright teacher if you can keep up with her. She tends to go off on rants and talks very fast. She rants about everyone not doing their homework, personally I wait until she's finished teaching the lesson before doing the work. When checking for homework, she checks for work that she has finished teaching that day. I don't recommend her.
If you want a teacher who will tell you something and then decide not to do it even anyway take her. She claims that at the start of the semester my that she said no make up tests, oddly enough no one heard her say it but her. We were walking to her office so I could make up a test and she just decided that I couldnt, despite what she had just said
Sometimes she is a little hard to understand but she will help you when needed.
i would not take her class, she is very hard on students who she deems bad. she would repeatedly pick on one of my fellow classmates and go on rants about how the student was doing the steps wrong. it made for a overall hostile environment. if you ask an innocent question your fine, but if you try and question her, watch out.
Has a fire-like personality! Doesn't like highschool behavior. Tries to fully explain problems, likes to talk. I'm horrible at math, but she made it entertaining. Speak up and take notes! Super easy short tests, but sometimes moves too fast. Doesn't like it when you do homework when she's talking, *pay attention*!
just dont take the class the rest of the comments say it all if your not good at math then you wont do well in this class the only kids who do well are the ones that alreay understand the math no one else does good in her class
Do not take her class, she doesn't explain steps for problems clearly and when you ask for help she acts frustrated that you didn't understand what she had tried to explain. She tells the class that she is always willing to help us with any questions however in reality shes not, she sighs at us when we ask for her to reexplain something.
If you don't know what you're doing in math don't take her class. She helps study for the tests but then turns around and gives you a test on something other than what you studied? I can not stand her she also picks on students. Very unprofessional you don't talk to people the way she does, she also speaks broken english very hard to understand.
great class! i hate math and totaly rocked this class. loved the lectures, she was very funny, quoted Beyonce "to the left to the left" AWESOME!!!!! highly recomend!
If you don't know what you're doing in math don't take her class. Her is my list, hostile environment, broken English, picks on students, and she doesn't explain steps for problems clearly. If this is the last class available (which happen to me) I would find another professor and beg to get in there class. This class would be a waste of your time
The homework is optional, but I would recommend doing it. Her tests are fairly easty as long as you study, except for the final when she put 150A material as well as 150B which threw a lot of people off. She is very smart at math, but if you try to ask a question she gets offended or answers it the wrong way, or another question entirely. Recommend
she was very hard to understand and got frustrated when students asked questions. she does pick on people and lets the whole class know if you failed a test. she shows different procedures to solve problems and just confuses everyone.
She is not nearly as bad as some of these comments portray her to be. She clearly explains the work and uses many examples. She does not pick on students that don't act like immature kids who just got out of high school. If you've taken other college courses, you'll be fine. Newbie's get a little irked with her because she does not baby you.
Does not collect hw. Agree w/ prev, she doesn't like ppl who act like in hs. She does make fun of them, but they act like theyre in hs so..yea. She doesnt tell everyone your grade, might say, "If you come to class more youd do better" but thats all. Nice teacher if youre not 18 yr old smarta**
I am still in her class right now and it has been an enjoyable year for me. She lets you write questions on the board for homework and she will go over them in class. If you need help on a lot of problems see the tutorial center in the MATH LAB not the one in the library. If you ever need extra help with her, just ask and she will make herself avai
Ms. Mogannum is a good mathematics teacher for those who intuitively get math. If you know mathematical concepts and formulas and want to see how they can be applied to real life, this is the class for you. She is fair and good in my opinion, but you need to speak clearly with her about your needs and problems. Otherwise, there may be problems.
Doesn't collect homework. Attendance is not mandatory. Very confusing at first but once you get to know her she is a good teacher. I was doing poorly and contacted her and she was very helpful and told me if I come to class and put in effort she would pass me. I recommend her just make it past the first few weeks and you'll be fine
Laurice was a very nice teacher, genuinely concerned about her student's success. She didn't collect homework, but I recommend doing it if you want to get a good grade. She has a thick accent and can be difficult to understand sometimes. Just ask her to slow down and repeat. She is very patient and willing to adjust her teaching to your learning.
This teacher is very hard to understand due to her accent and the fact that she talks very fast. When students had several questions from the homework she would yell at the class and accuse us of not doing our homework. She rushed many parts of the lessons and would get frustrated having to explain things in more detail.
She is hilarious! Great sense of humor and she is always on top of grading. Very nice lady. Loved her! She made math seem easier to me. Gives very clear directions. Overall great teacher. I would definitely recommend her! She cracks me up :)
No midterms, just weekly tests. Class is easy.
One never really knew when the class had quizzes (changed constantly). She does not collect homework or take role. Whenever you have a math teacher who does not collect homework, it is not for the benefit of the students. The teacher is being too lazy, and does not want to correct it. No structure to the class.
She is a good teacher and treats everyone like adults that they are. True, homework is not collected however it is important n is reviewed during class. Although attendance is not extremely mandatory, you will do much better if you attend class. Lecture to me was vital in passing the class. She has got a great personality and a great sense of humor!
Super nice lady. I do not see her being overly critical. However, as someone who is fairly proficient at basic math,he lectures confused me. I would be confident in my understanding before the lecture, and was completely lost after. Thank god for tutoring or I would have failed. In short: got nothing but confusion from the lectures.
Very nice professor, she puts the students needs first and makes sure that everyone understands what she's teaching. She can be a little confusing but if you use your brain and pay attention you will do fine.
Had a great semester! Great teacher and very helpful! I definitely feel prepared for trig.
Her accent makes her hard to understand, either that or she's just not good at teaching. I dreaded coming to class where she made you stay the whole two hours, not letting you go 15 minutes early. Felt as if she did not really want to be there. She was not helpful when answering questions. Stay away unless you are really good at math.
AMAZING teacher! Her accent is NOT hard to understand at all! She is very clear and she splits the lessons and lets you do the homework in class so you can ask her questions, she is very available to her students. Her tests are SUPER easy, she pulls questions out from the homework, you literally copy your homework on the test! Great Great teacher!!
Professor Mogannam is a great math teacher. She taught each lesson in a way that made math interesting and applicable. She wants her class to succeed and she adjusts her methods to what the class seems to need most to understand the lesson. On top of it, she is cheerful and personable in just the right way. Highly recommended!
Sweet lady, kind to her all around. LOVED that she has you use homework on tests. Learned tons.
Funny woman who really cares about what she's teaching. She has a cool style of making sure you do the homework where she puts like 5 problems from the entire chapter on the test. The question isn't there, just the number. If you did the homework you can just write the answer and get points; if you didn't do the homework, you can't.
Laurice seemed like a nice lady, but wasn't a great teacher. She was overloaded with classes and helping students individually was low on her priorities. She didn't own the book for the class and never seemed to have her lesson plans figured out in advanced. She has no clear syllabus or homework dates. Can pass with A if you seek outside help.
I would recommend Professor Mogannam's Trigonometry class to any student. Those strong in math will deepen their understanding. To those who struggle in math, she is available during office hours and after class to assist you. Ask for help. If you struggle, and don't ask for help, you will fall behind. She is among the fairest teachers I have had.
I've dropped so many math classes. Mogannam keeps it simple--HW is not collected; questions from the HW are on the test. Some may say her teaching is hard to understand, but I think it perfectly resonated with my learning style, which is to read the chapters in the book, and use lectures as a supplement while I do HW. She picked a great text book.
Laurice clearly has a passion and deep understanding of the material. She is very kind and easily approachable. I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures, especially since she used real world examples to present basic trigonometry concepts. HW is assigned but not collected. Exams are based completely from the HW and lectures.
Laurice is a great teacher in my opinion. As long as she feels you are not taking advantage of her she is very easy going and tries to make it easy for you to do well. I have taken her twice now and done well each time. She can move quickly in terms of one lesson to the next so keeping up is important.
I expect a math teacher to methodically and clearly go through problems, her in class examples were often hard to follow and sloppy--I am not a student who usually has a hard time following along but this class was hard to keep up in. If you self study well or get outside help you can do fine, class time was not very helpful.
I really struggled with this class and her teaching style at first and honestly she really made me work for my grade, but I'm glad! It had been a long time since I had taken a Math class and I ended the semester with a final A! She can be tough but I'm glad I took her class.
I learned the basics here and I remember!
Good at teaching, but didn't seem to care about students who can't hear her lectures over noisy people. Italked to her about people talking and eating during class, she said as long as it's about math, she does mind. Had to get a counselor involved to talk to her. Did well but had to self teach the course because of disruptive classmates.
I have always struggled understanding math. I actually enjoyed this class and hope to take her again in the future. She makes math enjoyable and I looked forward to going to class. She really wants you to get math, and makes the lectures very clear. My favorite teacher at the jc & highly recommend. The math book we used was great.
I enjoyed her class
She fast pace and get to the point. I enjoyed having her and would definitely take her again.
She does a great job explaining various ways to solve problems. She makes it clear that she wants us to understand the material before we move on to harder math classes by helping students as needed and sticking to her office schedule.
Professor Mogannam made math fun. I took the class during the summer. It was hard, 2-3 lessons per class, but Professor Magannam made sure that every student understood the material before moving to the next lesson. Great examples during the lessons and test are okay if you do the homework.
She has an accent but once you get passed that it'll be okay. She doesn't really explain the material, she will just give examples of what kind of questions are on the homework and then send you on your way. Honestly, I signed up for a tutor since the beginning and it was do-able.
This teacher does not explain the material. She does not do lectures. In fact, she does not like when you are taking notes or if the class asks the same questions more than twice. She is impatient with her students and teaches from the perspective of a mathematician. HELLO! If it were easy for us would we be in the class?
The teacher gave a good analysis over each chapter in the course and tried her best for all students to succeed
Laurice is kind and patient when explaining complicated material. She was very fair and didn't assign too much work. I would recommend her for MATH 25.
Does not give clear, concise lectures, sloppy and does not stay on topic. Very unorganized
U can't understand her lecture. I was lucky that I knew trig from high school.
If you intend to learn from this course, choose a different professor. Every question is a stupid question and you're wasting valuable class time by even asking. and definitely don't disturb during office hours, unless you want to be belittled and degraded about how easy your questions are.
Laurice is a good professor. She really cares about her student success. Does have an accent but nothing I found hard to overcome. Was very disorganized but its probably due to the fact that her house burned down in the fire so I cut her some slack. Overall I would recommend taking her.
I just took her for precalc, and she was pretty good. She does tend to get off topic. She only collects homework after a test. Our class was slacking on homework so she gave us extra time in class to work on it and ask questions. I did really bad on the first test, but I did better on all the others and I turned in most of the homework and got an A
Math classes are usually rough for me but I found that Dr. Mogannam really cared about us students doing well and I ended up enjoying it. Grading criteria is very straightforward, roughly three tests and a final and homework for each chapter. I liked the class structure because I got to be independent but still could ask questions in class.
She's a decent math teacher. She usually answers HW questions first and then goes into the lecture. Lectures can be boring sometimes but she can be funny sometimes. She is flexible when it comes to setting up test days. Keep in mind that this is a 5 unit class. Don't be afraid to ask questions and get help if you fall behind.
Realizing that Math 27 was a hard class, and giving her slack because of personal issues she was dealing with, still found her to be unnecessarily rude, even if she didn't mean to come off as such. Maybe she was having a bad semester, idk. Either way would never take her again, she singled me/others out in front of other students, v. uncalled for.
One thing I would say about this Teacher is you get what you put in,She will call you out if you're texting in class and not paying attention. There were some students who left because they couldn't click with her semi-abrasiveness personality. If she see you care, you will pass. I swore I was getting a High D/ low C. Finished overall with a B.
Took over summer. Shes tough. First time encountering a teacher who could come across so harshly. I worked really hard to earn her respect. Tests are not as hard as her lectures make it seem. Her notes are disorganized. She can be very reasonable about workload and pushing back due dates if you speak up. Intense. In the end I was grateful for her.
SHE HAS A STRONG ACCENT BUT REALLY WANTS TO MAKE SURE THE CLASS UNDERSTANDS THE WORK BEFORE SHE MOVES ON. SUPER EASY TEACHER. AS LONG AS YOU COME TO CLASS AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK YOU WILL PASS THE CLASS WITH FLYING COLORS. HER TEST ARE SO EASY. MAYBE LIKE 10 PROBLEMS AND YOU GET A CHEAT SHEET. TAKE 4 TEST AND SHE DROPS THE LOWEST SCORE.
signed up to teach on the Petaluma campus by mistake. Very limited availability to students. Fast lectures w/unorganized notes. Belittled students questions. Would tell you not to study something for a test and then make the entire test on what she told you not to study - the whole class almost revolted. Constant contradictory instruction and info
I will never take her again. Worst teacher I've had. She is disorganized, can't understand her lesson. When asking a question she doesn't answer the question. Doesn't have an organized schedule. She will say something is due at one time and then change her mind the next meeting. And I never understood how she graded.
Disorganized. Belittled students during the two months we had class in person. During the pandemic she provided the occasional video link and that its. Never gave feedback. Never returned any work even after I requested it. If you need structure, find a different teacher. She is the worst teacher I have ever had at the jc.
So I've had this instructor for maybe two weeks, and of course the class is all online because of COVID-19, But my God the homework load right off the bat is insane. There are no zoom classes, there is only textbook work and video lectures. It's downright lazy. She's disorganized and can't seem to tell which due dates are for which class sections.
If you take an online class with her, you will be teaching yourself the material. She posted a few 20 min videos of her barely explaining anything the whole semester. If you are able to learn on your own, she is super easy. The tests had around 15 questions each. She schedules tests on non scheduled class days! Be prepared to have a flexible sched.
This professor expects you to earn your grade AND she understands that life happens. If something comes up, let her know ASAP! She will work math problems with you and is always available for one on one support. You can't be shy. Text her and she will help! She wants all students to succeed.
I really enjoyed this professor. Though there were no live classes, she continually reached out to us to help us with homework and prepared us for tests. She was quick to respond to any of the questions we had and made sure we understood it completely. You can tell that she is caring for her students and their education. Would recommend her 100%.
I would take the math class with Professor Mogannam again. I wish I could have 155 with her. She is very nice, kind and patient.
I truly enjoyed taking a class with her. She worked with me when I was struggling, is extremely understanding, and responds extremely quickly if you need to contact her for help or questions. I would 100% take her again. Just ask questions, she wants to answer them and help you succeed! Homework was super easy and tutorials are given for all! Great
I really enjoyed this professor. Though there were no live classes, she continually reached out to us to help us with homework and prepared us for tests. She was quick to respond to any of the questions we had and made sure we understood it completely. She is extremely understanding, and wants to help everyone! ASK QUESTIONS 10/10 she is so kind
Amazing! So sweet and understanding. she truly cares about all of her students, and wants to help everyone. homework is super easy, tests are as well because she drops the worst grade. Super easy to get a A! Ask questions, and reach out. She will answer all questions and give clear lectures for test info. Would love to take her class again!
Professor Mogannam is a tough grader and a tough Professor overall but she always makes herself available and is willing to go above and beyond to help students struggling with certain math problems. Areas, where improvement is needed, is a more timely and effective test preparation and clearer communication with assignments.
Nice person, but no Zoom classes. The few lectures posted didn't help much w/ introducing the new topics. It was more videos from YouTubers and some videos of her doing a few problems as an example. There was a reasonable amount of homework and I got help if I texted her; she'd send worked-out solutions. Need to be able to be an independent learner
Sweet person, but expect to teach yourself the material if you take this class. No lectures, or organized presentation of the concepts. The few videos posted throughout the semester didn't cover the minimum. There were problems on exams I'd never seen before. Teacher is available by text, but if you struggle with math this is not the class for you.
I am terrible at math and this is the first math class I have ever gotten an A in. She gave more credit to those who showed up, participated, and put the work in. Even if I got a bad score on a test she changed it since I tried. She grades on effort, which is a nice change. Her lectures were great too, much easier to understand than the book.
I took some guidelines from her and She was excellent...I learned a lot and she helped me understand a few concepts.
The professor's teaching style really clicked for me. With her guidance and the course materials, I was able to grasp even the trickier concepts. Unstuck ai was a great supplement too for prep work.
