she is the best professor i have had in college thus far
Laurie is the coolest. She's a mother of college-age students and understands that we have more to deal with than just school. Very knowledgeable and understanding lady. I had to take this class for major and really had no interest in it, but she made it much less painful. Great lady.
Shes awesome
Laurie Jordan is the best!!! She's extremely kind and understands that there is more to life than just school. She also builds up a lot of rapport with her students which is great! I really got to know her outside of just being my math teacher.
I hated coming to this class three times a week. The information could be pretty useful in a math classroom, but her tests were nothing like the class. The material wasn't so bad, it was the woman herself. She plays favorites like it's a sport. I got a good grade, but I'd never choose one of her classes again.
At first she was the typical math teacher and not very fun to see three times a week. But after a couple weeks, she's really helpful and does want you to succeed, you just have to try! She's such a nice lady.
Very nice, responds to questions outside of class very quickly and very helpful. Gives a TON of extra credit, so going to class isn't painful. She gives days off all the time and TAKE HOME FINALS! Take her!
Had laurie for both 117 and 118 and loved both classes. She is the best professor at Loyola. Don't even consider anyone else..take her! and she loves sports, so she goes on tangents all the time, which is awesome.
After 2 semesters with her all I can say is LAURIE JORDAN IS AMAZING! easy class if you try and do your work and show up to class. Always willing to help, makes you hate math a lot less.
Something told me that she didn't know much about the latter half of Precalc because she began teaching us by just showing us youtube videos. I suppose I feel bad for staring out the window for 3/4 of this class because she was such a nice and helpful person, but when you have a 125% for the majority of the semester, it's hard not to zone out.
I absolutely LOVE this woman. She is just the sweetest math instructor ever. Probably not the most rigorous precalc Loyola offers (for those moving on to calc), but if you're looking for an easy A, take her class.
Easiest teacher ever! All the tests are take home and there's no final. There's barely any homework. Extremely easy A!!!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS LADY! I don't know what these reviews are talking about, she is not an easy teacher and she is not nice. Her tests are impossible to finish in a 50 minute class period and they are worth way too many points. She is rude if you try and talk to her about your grade. She gives a lot of dirty looks to students she doesn't favor
EASY A! Amazing sweet teacher
She was the BEST teacher I have ever had. She made sure you passed and handed out extra credit whenever needed. She was extremely helpful and I swear her goal was for everyone to pass with an A. Awesome teacher.
Dr. Jordan is one of the best professors I've ever had anywhere. She understands and respects the fact that students have other classes other than hers. She offers plenty of extra credit and her tests are exactly what she went over in class. No surprises. Take her!!!
She is kind and tries her best to make math interesting and relevant. Sometimes basic rules got lost in trying to make it interesting. There is also a weird presentation you have to do but it is easy. Recommended.
She is an awesome professor!! I loved her class because for the first time in my life i actually enjoyed math. Her Teaching method is mostly lecture for and break off in groups. Weekly assessments are super easy and her exams are easy if you do most of the recommended homework.
She is the most amazing math prof ever, only reason I passed after withdrawing from 2 previous algebra classes. I love her so much. Assigns homework but doesn't check it, it just helps yourself. Amazing, I highly recommend. Very sweet, caring woman. Loves math.
You need to take this class. It counts for core, and it is ridiculously easy. No tests, no homework, just projects that are usually 5 word problems. She's super nice too. The final is a powerpoint presentation on anything you want. Take itttttttt.
AMAZING!!! love this class. only 5 projects and then a final powerpoint!!! Super friendly teacher & makes make interesting. I highly recommend this class. LOVE HER!
SUPER EASY! Homework is optional and extra credit. Only 6 projects (5 word problems) instead of tests. There is a final presentation, but it's basically just a powerpoint.
TAKE THIS CLASS FOR CORE. Easiest class I've ever taken. Zero homework, 3 take home exams and a group project for your final!
Easiest class I have ever taken
She takes in to consideration the fact that you have other classes to worry about. Before assigning a due date for a project, she always asks if it is reasonable with out work loads. Great professor!
By far the greatest Honors professor at Loyola. She understands that we have a lot to study and worry about, so she works with the class to come up with good deadlines. 4 presentations and 1 final presentation. Highly recommended.
TAKE HER! She makes the class very easy and understandable to anyone. There are a total of four tests and assessments once a week that are straight from the homework, so they are very easy. Though she does not collect the homework I would recommend doing it because it will help you succeed on the tests that she gives you, that is how I got an A !
I love Dr. Jordan she is a MUST TAKE if you can. I'm horrible at math and she is clear and concise and she is just so sweet and she is so funny. she will let you out early if she can and offers a ton of extra credit, she's super fair and super helpful, the class had a wonderful low pressure, relaxed feel i plan on taking her every chance i have.
Her test questions are right off the homework or very similar, just make sure you understand all the homework problems. Quizzes are tricky becaue you don't have notes, oh by the way on each test you get a note sheet front and back. Also, her final is take home so if you are like me who does poor under test taking conditions you do well.
SHE IS AWESOME! She makes the class interesting and does a lot of practice problems. I barely showed up to class and got an A. She always gives extra credit just for participation. If I could, I would definetly take her again. VERY EASY CLASS!!
I love this woman! She's really into sports and is often easily distracted if you talk about them. She accepts late work even though she says she doesn't at the beginning of the semester. Generally for full credit to. This class is particular was really easy, basic algebraic and math modeling.
Professor Jordan is absolutely amazing. If you struggle with math and are required to take it, definitely take her classes. With the way that she teaches, it is very easy to succeed in this class. If you show up and pay attention, you should do just fine.
if u know sports, u will do well. if not, good luck.
You get 3 tests in the semester. She is very sweet and wants you to succeed. Attendance did not matter, unless it was later on in the semester when she counted it as a homework grade too. All homework is online-- no book but you will need the online one. I did not feel like iI learned anything new. It was an easy A class.
Laurie is such a sweet woman. Her class is stupid easy; 3 take home tests, MyStatLab homework, and a final presentation. With this being said, I didn't learn ANYTHING in her class, but passed with over 100%. Definitely an easy A, but if you actually need to learn stats take a different teacher. If you need this as a CORE requirement, take her!!
Not the best at explaining concepts. She often tells the class to "google it." The class is easy, but she almost makes it more confusing than it should be. She's also very hard to get ahold of. Wouldnt suggest her
Not the best at explaining concepts. She often tells the class to "google it." The class is easy, but she almost makes it more confusing than it should be. She's also very hard to get ahold of.
The thing that's really irritating is that she never fully explains the concepts in class. She sometimes can react negatively to a students question or concern. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! It's not worth the stress and frustration that comes from her taking off points on tests for details she never even mentioned.
I really loved professor Jordan. She is very sweet and caring, and I would definitely take her class again. Math 108 is an extremely easy class with three take home tests and a presentation as the final.
In class she didn't explain things very well and her PowerPoints were not detailed enough to explain the concepts. We never used the book and when I tried to use it to look things up outside of class, it was difficult to connect it to what she was teaching. She's not a very approachable person and her she grades very leniently. I didn't learn much.
Straight up don't take prof Jordan. She's a horrible teacher. I took this class bc it was supposed to be easy and I'm practically failing. Makes me angry that she's even a teacher. She also won't answer your questions during office hours. Then when suddenly your grade is horrible she offers no help to get it back up. Taught myself all the material.
She is a super sweet lady, but this class is not an "easy A". You have 4 take home tests, where there are 4 questions and each question is worth 25 points. If you get one question wrong you basically fail, and this class is impossible to get your grade back up. The nice thing about this class is for the final you get to do a presentation.
Professor Jordan is truly an amazing woman. Not only is she an amazing teacher, but she is so enthusiastic and happy. There is a quiz every week but it is always a question from the homework. She also allows you to have a paper front and back filled with notes for each test. If you struggle in math, I highly suggest you take her class!!
Dr. Jordan was the best teacher possible for stats. She knows its a core requirement so she grades easily and does not assign crazy homework! She lets you choose a partner for the final (take home project) AND she let us choose to not have online homework altogether. Easy A, great person, you'll love her. She is so sweet!
Dr. Jordan was the most understanding professors I've had so far. She is pretty clear in her lectures and has lots of activities to make the classes more interesting. She understands the woes of a student and will work with you as long as she can see that you're putting in the effort.
She gives a ton of extra credit, lets you do corrections on tests, and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. She treats everyone like a baby and is sorta annoying but she really cares. It's better to go to class because she gives random extra credit in class at random.
It's very easy to get an A in this class. There are 3 exams and a final, and she lets you get points back on exams if you don't do well. Weekly quizzes but it's just one question from the homework. Attendance isn't mandatory but you do have to show up for the quizzes plus she gives random extra credit on random days so it's best to attend. TAKE HER
Dr. Jordan is cool but her class is a joke. Her lectures are kind of all over the place and she goes over the same thing over and over again so you really don't have to go (if you're good at math/ have taken pre calc before) except for the weekly quizzes and tests. I honestly don't think I learned a single new thing all semester.
Laurie Jordan is so sweet and nice. She cares a lot about her students and it really shows. This class is super easy, even if you aren't good at math. She's really straight forward and she tries to explain things very thoroughly to help us. Sometimes she curves and there is occasional extra credit. There are three exams and one take home final.
Probably one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Not only does she scream constantly, she WILL call you out in front of class for your personal issues. She literally went up to a kid in my class and questioned him about his personal life. She is not caring, and she judges you when she should be there to teach. You won't learn a thing either.
Not the worst, not the best. You're more likely to succeed if you get on her good side though which seems a bit unfair. She didn't put in grades until the end so its difficult to tell what you are gettin in the class. Kind of rude at times, but homework isn't graded. That also means your grades depend heavily on the quizzes and the exams.
Very interesting class. She has weekly quizzes and bases off of class discussion and small projects so I really never knew what my grade was until the end. She is a nice lady and the class is easy for a 100 level math class. The content and work is very clear you just have to put in your own effort if you are trying to retain information.
Professor Jordan is awesome! She teaches very well and makes learning math easy. Make sure to take the time out of class to study your notes and practice problems - this will help you on quizzes and tests
Prof. Jordan is an amazing professor, she does not overload you with work and is always willing to help you outside of class. I think she has acclimated to the new normal with online school very well. She gives 1-10 practice problems per class and then goes over then the next class. There are weekly quizzes that you can get extra credit on for test
Prof. Jordan is super caring and was extremely helpful and understanding in the online setting, despite She made reasonable adjustments to due dates and expectations during COVID and constantly checked in with students about their feelings on the course, which I think demonstrates her care for her students in general. Definitely recommend her!
I have always sucked at Math and I did not do my best in her class, but she changed my outlook on Math. She is SUPER nice, genuinely cares about her students. She is not boring at all, and she had us do unique group projects that were not boring standard math projects. She is a fun teacher and she is a very fair grader. Highly recommend!
Cares a whole lot about students, open to questions. Very sweet lady and very understanding. One of the best math teachers ever. If math isn't for you, she tries to make it as understandable as possible. Def would take her again and def recommend her.
I am not a math person, but she is really a super helpful and supportive teacher. She broke her leg at the beginning of the year so most of our class was on zoom which was difficult, but still a super supportive teacher. You have a project due every few weeks but it isn't difficult and she is a fair grader. I strongly recommend her for math 108!
easy A super chill teacher
This professor is amazing! I recommend taking her for all your classes. As a senior taking Math 108, I was nervous that I would not enjoy it but she makes you enjoy the class. No homework Attendance is not mandatory. But why miss when she is so fun. She is very understanding. As long as you do the projects well you should have no problem!
Shes goated, she makes it to easy to pass. Take her
Prof Jordan is a great choice for math. Her lectures are always clear and she's good at answering questions. She understands that most math classes are taken because of requirements, so her expectations are realistic. She always takes into account student feedback when formatting tests and quizzes (note sheet, take home, etc).
Prof Jordan is a great math teacher, she makes the concepts really easy to understand and helps people when they ask for it, but she's not the best professor. She does have a habit of getting in students business and/or announcing to the whole class what students are up to or what they're doing wrong.
Professor Jordan is a great math teacher. I had her for Math 108 and she was so nice, funny, and great at explaining things that I just didn't get. Stats aren't my thing and she made it so easy to understand compared to my old teacher at Loyola. If you're thinking about taking her class she's a great teacher who cares and yeah.
no homework, optional textbook, and attendance are optional. She really cares about her students, she'll ask us what we prefer for exams and quizzes. Easy to get a lot of points/a good grade. If you've taken algebra classes before this class is a breeze.
this class was very easy. rarely any homework. 4 group projects and a final group project. take this class if you want a VERY EASY math credit!! professor jordan is awesome and very accommodating
Professor Jordan IS THE BEST! This class was soooo easy and she was always flexible about deadlines and due dates. She really wanted you to learn about math in real life and was passionate about what she taught. No homework, just 4 project and a final project, with super clear guidlines and she gave class periods off to come in and ask questions!
Super easy pass. She really wants you to understand the material, so must work is interactive. No notes or homework. She does a weekly check your understanding where you can gain extra points.
If you have the chance to take her, please do!! Took this class as a review class before going into calculus and she was amazing. Some things though she does expect you to have learned before hand, but she will teach you. This is not a lecture style class. Most classes are group work. Quizzes once a week, but lots of extra credit opportunities.
Laurie was a good professor and Math 108 is a good class if youre looking to fill Youre math credit. There are 5 projects and you can work in groups. There is also a final project. Attendance isnt required but its important to go to class so you dont miss anything. She is very helpful is you need help with a problem.
if you need an easy math credit, take her. four group projects and a final solo project, no tests or homework. gives you work days for projects. classes are lecture heavy but there's always a group-work based example. content is also actually very applicable to life, and unlike in normal math classes, I feel like it was actually valuable content.
I LOVE HERRRRRR she trusts us to use our phones on test for calculator she gives good feed back she gives lots of opportunities to be able to pass (lots of extra credit) she's a fun teacher and she makes the class interactive ex: math stations and group activities she's caring and understanding
How does this woman have a job????????
I LOVE LAURIE! If you aren't good with math 100% take this class, she is so kind and understanding. There are 4 group projects, a final, and textbook material (it doesn't matter if you get right or wrong, just as long as you do them you get 100%). Best math class I have ever taken; 100% take her if you can.
Gives off southern hospitality. Sweet woman who is ok at teaching. If you have questions she will answer them kindly. Every class she assigns random groups to solve problems. Also, there are online assignments that are kinda easy to forget about since they're due at the end of the semester. No tests, just projects.
Laurie is great! We have 4 projects, and no tests or quizzes. If you don't like math or are bad at it, I would 100% recommend this class. She doesn't exactly know how to teach sometimes, but it is such an easy class.
Whoever said southern hospitality was spot on. An easy and engaging math class, 4 group projects and a final centered around social justice plus easy online homework. She's so kind and sweet! You could have never learned addition and still love this class. For sure take her if you can.
Sweetest woman ever. Responded quickly to questions. No exams, just group projects that were open notes. Homework is super light if you stay up to date on it. She genuinely cares about her students and wants everyone to get a good grade. I recommend taking her if you can!
Incredible teacher, easy class, actually retained information, just great at what she has to do and on top of it is an incredible teacher
Easiest math class ever and Prof. Jordan is one of the nicest/chillest teachers I've ever had! Literally 0 tests, the HW is all online (plus you have access to it all from the first day and nothing needs to be correct, so just finish it or look stuff up), and all work can be done in groups. You should 100% take this class for any LUC requirement!
Professor Jordan is such a sweet lady, you can truly tell she has a passion for teaching. One of the easiest core classes ever, no tests/quizzes, online homework that you can breeze through, and attendance is not required. She makes math interesting and you can talk to her about anything! Definitely recommend for those who hate math haha :)
The class has 4 projects, 4 quizzes, and 1 final research project. It is not a heavy workload and is super easy. She is flexible with dates and class attendance is not mandatory. She tries to get to know her students and is a great teacher! Very willing to help outside of class!
Dr. Jordan is great! Take her if you do not like math. This class felt all over the place sometimes, but it was an easy A and not too much work (4 projects, a few online quizzes, and a final project). Also attendance isn't mandatory!
If you want an easy grade and want a way to satisfy core, take her. However, I did not click with the way she taught. I showed up to every class and most of the time I had to teach myself the topics because I didn't learn anything in class. For the most part it felt like a chore to show up to class, but it was easy. Wasn't a clear grader though.
She's my queen take this class I love her
Extremely easy class. She was super accommodating and kind. There are 4 big projects but none were particularly difficult. Homework is online and due at the end of the semester. You can get what you want from this class. Some people participated heavily and some never attended class. Overall great for a math requirement!
She was beyond amazing, she says attendance is mandatory but it's not. You have 5 projects throughout the year that make up your grade, and they are very easy. She also lets you redo projects for a better grade if you want. Definitely take her if you can! I hate math and I loved her and this class.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. attendance is not mandatory, i recommend going because the lectures can be confusing. There are 5 projects, and she lets you redo to get points back if you need to. She is amazing and she really cares about her students. take her if you can.
Great professor for easy points. I recommend for an easy A and an easy core. Take her!
I LOVE HER!!! YES QUEEN LAURIE! She is so nice, just take her. She understands if you aren't good at math and works with you. I wish more professors were like her.
Super easy class, attendance isn't mandatory but she does a raffle with the attendance six times to drop any assignment you want throughout the semester. She brings candy around holidays. She's super kind, easy to reach out to with questions. 5 projects, all easy, and no exams!
Super sweet lady. Highly recommend. No exams. All project based and it was pretty straightforward. There is a bit of group work in class. Attendance is not mandatory at all. Very caring person. Even if you aren't good at math, you will succeed in this class.
Professor Jordan is so sweet and I appreciated how she always understood students and was honest with us. Sometimes she does activities that feel a little juvenile, but its kind of fun when you are with nice people.
