She has a ton of chances for extra credit, gives you 20 questions to look at before the test out of her 50 question exams. So funny and so sweet! She's a great professor, this is what they all should be like! You won't mind coming to class.

Dr. Fluker is an amazing teacher. She is interesting, and makes class fun.Lots of absence make up offorutnies. Get point on AVERAGE if you dont miss class. Intro to mass comm is a great class, and she even let everyone be exempt from the final if they were happy with their grade. TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!

dr. fluker was my favorite teacher so far! she is awesome. her classes are fun and interesting. and she has possible test questions before each test. if you read what you are supposed to and go to class you should do fine.

i loved this class! the material is enjoyable and if you study just even a little, you'll be fine. i never studied and i got 84's on all the tests. she's funny and nice and loves to play music when you're coming into class. it was a nice way to start the day and got me really interested in advertising.

Keep up with your reviews! They are important to keep for the final if you choose to keep it. Also, don't leave during the movies, there's usually a quite a few questions on the tests from them. If you study the reviews and attend classes you're set for an A.

Excellent professor. Very intelligent, very funny, and very approachable. Tends to repeat herself and get on her soapbox, but she's a fantastic teacher. Online tests are easy, and perfect attendance snags you three extra points at the end of the semester. There's a final, but it's optional. Would definitely recommend. I love her!

I pulled a B and didn't study at all. The tests are online and open book; fairly difficult but she'll always give a curve and drop a grade. You can also make up 3 absences, so you can skip six times and not suffer for it. Ain't life grand!

Fluker really spoiled me. All info for the tests are in the powerpoints, which she sends to you, and the tests are on the internet. With a little ctrl F and Wikipedia action, there is NO WAY you can possibly fail.

Her discussions keep you awake at 8 am, and her lectures and power points are filled with interesting information. The films we watch in class are pretty interesting as well. If you fail this class, you're an idiot. Fluker's class is probably the easiest you will ever take. On one test this semester, we got a 10 point curve. Ridiculously easy class with lots of opportunities for extra credit and absence make-up. If you have to take this class, definitely get Fluker!

FLUKER for President. She is an amazing professor, I loved her class even though it was at 8 am. Her tests are open book/note. Pull up the powerpoints and itll be easy, but make sure you know some of it. She makes the class an easy A. Final is optional and she drops one test. She is funny, loving, and interesting. Easy A. You get up to 3 absences and you get makeup days, but don't take it for granted. They'll sneak up on you. I never had to take one note because powerpoints were online, as were the tests. Copy and paste the powerpoints in a word document for when you take the test. Fluker is awesome and she cares. Funnny too. Even at 8am I was entertained.

Make sure you go to class! She will fail you even if you make an A on all tests. She's very helpful, and is willing to work with you. You never use the text book because everything comes off her power points however, you must buy the book because it contains a code for a website you take your tests on.

This class was super easy. You only need the textbook to get the code for tests (prepare to spend $100+) Only problem is she was inconsistent with posting powerpoints & it's hard to take notes 'cause she skips slides often. Use the PPs & review for the online tests. Thought I would learn a lot about MC, but I was actually really disappointed.

Fluker made class worth going to. Getting up for an 8am class isn't easy, but her class made it easy. Great personality, funny, and just an overall great professor. Exams are done online, and aren't too bad as long as you take some decent notes. I highly recommend her. I'd take this class even if I didn't have too. That's how good she is. Easy A!

She babbles too much and isn't organized it took us 2 weeks to get past chapter one, tests are online she uses the publishers website and forces you to pay for the new book and code. This class was extremely boring, take someone else. She isnt worth youre time

Fluker is an amazing teacher in that she is very entertaining and has an obvious passion for what she's speaking about. You have to get the access code with the book because the exams and final are online. Attendance is mandatory but she gives makeup days in case you miss more than allowed

Fun&entertaining class/professor. Starts w/music videos&often discussions. Don't have to take notes. She posts power points on TRACS. We didn't use the textbook but you'll need the access code for online tests. There's 4 exams. She'll drop the lowest grade and you don't have to take the final if you don't want to. Honestly the best professor at Txstate. She loves her job so much that you will love her by the end of the semester. Class attendance is not mandatory but if you want to past don't miss more than 3 days. She gives you a study guide before each test. If you use it you shouldn't have a problem with the course.

Dr. Fluker's a great person. She's really fun and upbeat and lively. But her class is difficult because she overwhelms you with information. The tests are highly specific, but short: In other words, she has you learn a lot of information you'll only need a tiny bit of. To me, that made her class really difficult. Love her, though.

This class was very easy. That being said it seemed a little more like a high school class, and a little less like college. I guess I didn't realize that college is more about attendance and less about your actual academics. Should have had an 88, but failed due to attendance. Kind of kicked me in the gut.

Easiest class I've taken in my 4 year college career. The class consists of 4 exams and an optional final. Each test is incredibly easy. The only downside is that she's strict on attendance. Over three absences and you'll lose a letter grade which means you can't even think about skipping class. As for the class, it was really boring. Made an A.

She posts everything online. Last 3 tests were online. Attendance is ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY. There are absence make-up days, but every absence after your 3rd was 10 points off of your final grade. Don't make the same mistake I did. I would've made a B but attendance dropped me to an F.

She is very passionate about teaching and every student in her classes. I loved her overall, but the only complaint I have is that her powerpoints have a lot of information on them. They are clear and easy to understand, but there's so much information on them that I'm pretty sure at least half of it was not on the tests she gave us. Kinda annoying

She is very easy to listen to during lecture, but presents an overwhelming amount of information. Definitley go to class or your grade will suffer. In-class tests are multiple choice, but you need to know a lot of years and names. Luckily, the last few tests are online if lectures go well, and those are a breeze.

Overall I really enjoyed this class. I had Fluker at 8:00am and she was still able to engage the class and get us laughing. Half of the tests are in person and the other half are online. There is a lot of information to covered over each test and information from the book will appear on exams!

This woman is amazing. Took her at 8am and she still had me hooked. She locks the doors 20 minutes after class starts, so be on time. Also, don't miss class, because even with 350+ students, she still takes attendance. She was extremely engaging and will have you laughing every day you see her.

I took this class as an elective and am so glad I did! Lectures were boring to me because I have no interest in MC/PR, but Professor Fluker had me laughing every class. Mrs. Laurie Fluker is an amazing professor. She is fun to listen teach and makes you want to participate in class even if there are 300 people. You want to learn when you are there and she makes a huge class very personal. The only downside to her class is I bought the textbook and didn't use it at all.

Such an inspirational role model. Reminds you that you can achieve more than you might realize. Highly engaging lectures. She LOVES what she does and it's contagious. Lectures are packed with tons of information so keep up with studying for the tests. Taking a class with her will change your life for the better.

Dr. Fluker is THE MOST AMAZING professor I have yet thus far at Texas State. Why? She cares. She truly cares. It's unfortunate that she only teaches one class now, but i still see her on campus and she recognizes me from a 400 person class. That's the definition of a great professor. Just TAKE HER

Super funny; I'm never bored during lectures. Only 4 online exams (1 dropped), no HW. Gives reviews for each test. Tests are open for 3 days with 1hour 20min to complete 50 Q's. You do need the book. Final was opt'l and I have an A so I didn't take it. Nicest professor ever. Go hang out with her during office hours and she'll love you!

Dr. Fluker is phenomenal. We do not deserve her at all. She gives amazing and inspirational lectures. Theres only 4 open book/open note tests. The tests arent that hard honestly. They can be a bit challenging, though! SHOW UP TO CLASS EVERYDAY! Attendances are audited! Showing up to class is worth it! You wont regret taking her class!

Her test are online but still pretty difficult because you have to search MANY PowerPoint slides for the answers. She is an incredible person though, and that alone is enough to take her. You wont regret it.

LOVED professor Fluker. She cares so much about her students and their success in her class. The exams are online and come right from the PowerPoints that are provided on TRACS. Attendance is mandatory but her lectures are interesting and she is fun to listen to. Would absolutely take another course with her.

Her lectures are very interesting and she is amazing at teaching! You get 3 absences before it effects your grades. You are only graded on tests, that are all online and easy!

Wonderful instructor that truly cares for her students. Her lectures were informative and very lively; there was never a dull day in class. My class was at 8 am, but I never had the issue of falling asleep or feeling tired due to the participatory nature of her class and the way she kept the content interesting.

The most amazing professor ever. There are only 4 tests and one is dropped, they are online 50 questions with an hour and 20 min to take them, BUT she gives you the power points just ctrl F and and search. Also +3 points on your final grade if you never miss a class. Dont buy the book, I didnt and I ended the semester with a 94.

Dr. Fluker is an amazing professor who loves what she teaches. She absolutely loves Mass Communication and is hilarious. Class is fun and you wouldn't want to miss out because of her fun stories. She gives extra credit depending on how many absences and posts her notes online. Her tests are online but there are NO quizlets so notes matter.

5 exams, lowest one dropped. They're online but for some reason, I would find every single answer in the powerpoints and I still would get 80's. She'll sometimes spend 30 min yelling at us if we don't respect class time. Tried going to the bathroom but she spent 10 minutes interrogating me, that was unnecessary. Over-all, ok class.

Laurie is an amazing professor! She loves all of her students and truly loves what she does! Her lectures consist of hundreds of slides so, be ready! Her tests are online but still pay attention because I always made b on the tests even though they were take home.

Best Mass Comm teacher I've had so far! She is so funny and makes her lectures interesting. She plays music for the first 15 minutes before class starts and will ask for participation. Her tests are all done online and come directly from the notes. Feel free to download the powerpoints ahead of time and bring your computer to class.

Professor Fluker is a fantastic professor. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her students and really wants you to succeed in her class. Make sure to show up ON TIME as when I had her she locked the doors 10 minutes after class started. Show up to class, don't be disrespectful, and you'll do great.

I don't know how she doesn't have a perfect 5. She's the best professor you can take in the MC department. Tests are open note a book and I would recommend the online book if you want an A. She reminds me of Octavia Spencer, and I mean that in the best way possible. Take her, put in some effort, and don't forget to show up to class. LOVED HER!

Best teacher ever, her lectures and advice would really move me and gave great advice that will always stick with me. The tests are also super easy open book open note and usually has a curve. I would def suggest taking her for mass comm I loved it and if you show up every day she gives you 3 extra points on the overall average.

Mrs. Fluker is pretty funny, but her lectures get to be so boring after a while. She talks nonstop for the whole hour and 20 minutes, and she repeats the same things every class. However, all her tests are online and open note, which is a plus.

Fluker is knowledgeable and friendly, but the lectures are extremely boring as she reads directly from the slides. You can't use electronics in class. Tests are online and very easy with most of the answers coming directly from the slides.

This class is an easy A if you just show up. All of the tests and (usually) her lecture notes are online so you can use them on the tests. The only problem is that some of the questions are based on things she said in class or things in the book, which you're not required to buy (I didn't and did fine), so make sure to listen during lecture.

Her class was fun and she is a good teacher. She is very passionate about Mass Comm which you can tell through her lectures. She often gets off topic and felt that the extent that she went through to take attendance and catch people for scanning in for others or scanning in and leaving were distracting and extreme.

I took Dr. Fluker for an intro to Mass Comm class and she is an outstanding professor. I highly recommend taking this course! Her TA, Rana is amazing as well. She counts attendance and the only grades are for four exams and the final is optional. If your class respects her, then she respects you. TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

Grade comes from only 3 or 4 tests that are online-but be careful!! You have to study still. Attendance is mandatory-will count against you if you miss more than 2(I believe). Very lovely, caring and sweet professor.

Take her!!! I took it as an elective and it was a great choice. All the tests are online and she uploads all the powerpoints so it's easy to make good grades on the test. If you never miss a class you get 3 points added to your overall grade. Do not use your phone in class or you will get called out but the material is interesting to learn.

She was one of my favorite teachers Ive had at TXST. She really cares about her students. Dont miss any class! She takes off a letter grade for every 3 absences. Test were online on your own time. Easy if you pay attention, and look at her slides. Drops one test. Skipped final if you were fine with your current grade.

Prof. Flukers energy, even during an 8 a.m. course is contagious. She really cares and is super interesting to listen/ talk to. As far as grading goes, all the exams are online and shes totally encouraging of taking them in groups. Her attendance policy is 3 absences and then a penalty but show up- itll benefit you in the end.

Fluker is a great professor, but it's a waste of a class because of the exams. The exams aren't even made by her, and nothing she says in lecture is on the test. When she says, "Multiple choice","this will be on your exam", she's bluffing. You'll learn a lot from this class, but you'll make a bad grade unless you read the book.

Shes so cool! Shes serious when things need to be serious, but she also knows how to lighten things up at the same time. Every class practically is a lecture, and theres a lot of information to take in for the exams. Im gonna be honest, I didnt read the book at all and got an A on every test, because as long as you pay attention, youre good.

I love this woman! There is only 4 exams in this class and that is it. They are all online so it is open book open note, I'd still study though. She is very funny, very strict on phone use, and very strict on attendance. You have to sign a sheet every day in class saying you are there and didn't just leave.

LOVE HER! She's an awesome teacher. There is 4 exams that are graded, she gives you the option to take the final which is the 4th exam if you like your average grade. She takes attendance very seriously so don't skip besides it'll benefit your overall grade at the end of the semester.

My favorite professor ever! You HAVE to take her class at least once in your college career. Yes, attendance doesn't matter. But I always loved going just to hear her lectures. She does have a textbook (but it's honestly a scam, save your money). A super easy and chill class, just don't be on your phone or she will sit right next to you!

I was in her 8am. She has long presentations, tends to go really fast and even then she cannot finish. The test has super random questions. Attendance does matter, she will call you out if you are late, leave early, talk, sleep, or on your phone. The material is easy overall. She is very understanding and drops low test/quiz scores at end of sem.

Everyone says that she has a lot of homework, but honestly if you type out the slide notes and use those on the exams, you don't even need to use the textbook. I struggled through the first half of her class.. however, she always provides extra credit towards the end of the semester that will certainly help you out. Attendance is ABSOLUTELY mandatory and you'll regret not showing up, promise!

Dr. Laurie H Fluker is something else! the most remarkable professor here at txst. She had me CACKLING in class, she is so fun and funny. I had her as an 8 AM class which I was worried about because I am not a morning person however, this class was so enjoyable to go to. Laurie would also be the PERFECT professor to keep in contact for networking.

I am not a morning person by any means, but being in this class motivated me to wake up for her 8 am. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY however she is passionate and very modern with her lectures. you are allowed to miss 3/4 days and she offers 3 make-ups. As long as you look at the study guide and pay attention you'll be okay.

If you take any 8am class this is the one to take, she does her best to make it entertaining just don't be obvious youre on your phone or sleeping or she will sit right by you and teach or make you come to the front. Easy quizzes and exams just have the notes she sends out, attendance is 100% required but she's very accommodating and loves her job

Fluker is an amazing professor. She really loves what she does, and that shows in her lectures. I feel like I am cared for in a class of 300. The only downside is her attendance policy, only 3 absences allowed, but she does have a few absence makeup classes throughout the semester. I would 100% take her again if I had the chance!

She really cares about every student she has. Her exams are online. Grades are off exams and quizzes for each chapter. You have 3 free absences to use but they are each worth 1 point of extra credit to your final overall grade if you do not use them.

Every quiz/test is online. She doesn't like phones and if you want to be on your computer you have to sit in the front rows. Other than that the class is very easy and straight forward. She is entertaining and very caring of her students. Attendance is mandatory and with only allowing for 3 absences but with attendance makeups you can have 6.

I absolutely loved Dr. Fluker's class. She is very fun and sweet. In order to succeed in Dr. Fluker's class it is necessary to show up to class, and use the slides and the textbook to your advantage.

seriously the best professor ever, she's super funny and her class is super easy. the tests are all online and they are super easy. attendance is mandatory but there are always opportunities to make them up. sit in the first 3 rows so you can be on your laptop. 10/10 lectures and super sweet TA

Good & nice person. Very tough professor. She talks a lot and claims she will “get on her soapbox” for upwards of 30 minutes you likely will never leave class early. Also does not communicate well over email or canvas message. Main thing is just, utilize the PowerPoints she posts because they're typically exact copies of the tests/quizzes.

Professor Fluker is great! She's super nice, and the class is easy—I took it as an elective. Just be aware that the attendance policy is very strict.

Laurie Fluker is an awesome professor. At first I was worried about the attendance policy, but the more time passed the more I found myself wanting to attend class rather than feeling forced too because of the attendance policy. She's a very entertaining and fun professor and her words stick with you.

If you need to take a mass comm class and Laurie Fluker is an option, TAKE HER. Her class was entertaining and she makes it easy to reach out when help is needed. Weekly quizzes are easy and online, a textbook is "required" but not really needed as she goes over everything in class so make sure to attend class.

She is so funny. Her lectures were very intriguing, and all her assignments and exams were pretty easy! Def recommend!

Dr. Fluker was a nice professor. She's funny and likes to hear from the students. She can be a little difficult sometimes because she's very sarcastic and will call you out in front of the whole class if she sees you do something she doesn't like. Her class was pretty easy to keep on track, just make sure you pay attention to the little things.

Dr. Fluker is an amazing professor and I am grateful I got to have her as a professor. She somehow finds a way to connect with everyone in a class of over 300. Her lectures are engaging and her soapboxes are so entertaining. I couldn't recommend this course more. You are sure to have a good time and as long as you attend and do work your good!

She was super fun and outgoing, she wasn't mean but rather strict about due dates, but other than that, she was by far one of my favorite professors! DO NOT MISS CLASS!

I loved Dr. Fluker—she was such an inspiration, and she obviously cares a lot about her students. Your grade is entirely based on weekly quizzes and four tests, but they are online, so you can use your notes. She often gets off track during class, but I still learned a lot from her lectures. Easy class to get an A in as long as you show up to class

She is an amazing woman and very, very funny. Attendance is SUPER mandatory, and missing even just a few more days past the limit will fail you. She does do absent makeup days though, but they are unannounced. All work/quizzes/tests are online and NOT proctored soooo... easy A. You're only job is to basically show up and do the online work on time!

Genuinely never had a better teacher/professor. Her lectures have never been boring. She will mix a bit of comedy in them and most days, will ask the audience fun questions to get us involved. Only 4 tests a semester, lowest grade gets dropped. Everything, including tests, are online and are open notes. A big thing is attendance. Just show up!

This is the most inspiring instructor at Texas State University. Dr. Fluker is so passionate about what she teaches that she solidified my interest in my career. She creates an environment where students feel heard, valued, and genuinely motivated to grow. She's so loving and caring; just attend lecture and you'll pass the class.

Attendance is mandatory on paper and she will call out names. No clear attendance makeups but if the makeup is during regular class time she won't say. Lecture will last the entire class and she does not tolerate talking or devices. First two exams were difficult and tricky. Last 2 she gives a study guide with all answers. Quizzes weekly.

This is the kind of professor they make movies about. Annoying while you're taking it and have to deal with the nauseatingly harsh attendance policy but afterwards you realize it was for your own benefit. Incredible.

I LOVE HER ENDLESSLY. She is definitely the best teacher I have ever had. Pay as much attention to her as you can because she is full of knowledge.

Dr. Fluker makes the course interesting- you can tell she's super knowledgable about the content. She also really cares for her students. Quizzes and exams make up the grade; she gives study guides and they're online. GO TO CLASS, it's mandatory and will help boost your grade in the end. Final exam is optional and the material isn't very difficult.
