Great teacher!!! She makes her students work but after taking this class you'll know your stuff! Take Kubicek if you want to learn something!
Very interesting teacher to take. Made the online class somewhat fun to watch.
She makes time to help you understand the material, easy to talk to and you can tell she cares
She is a great teacher. She is very energetic, passionate, and organized. She does her best to get you interested in the material. She may give you a lot to do, but it is worth it.

Excellent professor. She is really dedicated and energetic about the subject matter. Keeps class interesting. Assigned tasks are applicable and beneficial. Not too difficult, on par with subject matter.
very enthusiastic and very helpful. will go out of her way to reach you if you need extra help.
Awesome class taught by an awesome woman. She is good at relating to the students and really makes the information available and easy to grasp.
Kubicek is HILARIOUS, and a really good teacher. Her notes are clear, you know what's going to be on the tests, and the project isn't that bad if you do a little bit at a time. She is so funny it makes the class worth going to.
Awesome teacher... the kind of teacher you hope you get when you walk into the class. She's funny, keeps you interested, and cares about your learning.
Best teacher ever. You learn a lot and have a lot of fun doing it. She is hilarious and relates very well with students. You can tell teaching is not just a job, it is her passion.
She is awesome and it is a really interesting class, don't try to do your casebriefs in one weekend, she's really funny.
Great teacher! Always cheerful and happy to help. Case briefings are a drag, but she basically goes over what you need in each... Tests are easy if you study... Overall great class and I learned a lot!
This teacher is the best teacher I had at Sac State, and she is very sweet and educated. She is the kind of teacher to pray to have, and she has a great sense of humor. I would re-take her class anyday, so I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HER!!!
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her and Pool (who isnt on ratemyprofessor) are the best teachers I have had in a long time. Her tests are easy if you study and she has the best personality ever. She keeps me awake even though I am there until 10pm.
She has tons of energy and really enjoys teaching her students. She is never boring!
OMG!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER!! EASY AND I LEARNED THE MOST IN HER CLASS!! IF YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR CLASSES TOGETHER,, MAKE HER FIT INTO YOUR SCHEDUAL.. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!
Dude, this chick is awesome! I learned so much from her. She makes the class very interesting. I HIGHLY recommend her. I'm taking her again next semester for CJ 175. Definitely one of the better professors at Sac State. Take her!
Great professor, very upbeat and loves what she does. My interest is to work in the courts and this is right up her alley. She also uses a lot of humor in her lectures, which helps one stay awake. Love her and I would definately take her again!!!!! Learned a lot too...of course!!!!
Great teacher! She makes everything she talks about fun and really involves students in the class. She is super accesible if you need help and really has a passion for what she does. You can't slack in this class. Take good notes but it will definately pay off and you will find yourself looking forward to this class!
PRE-LAW STUDENTS TAKE HER! She's a inspiration cause shes so passionate in teaching law. She knows her stuff. Register into her classes NOW!
Kubicek is so passionate about what she teaches and her students. The class has a midterm, a final and one huge project. I wish other points were available, but attendance and participation do account for something. She's extremely personable and uses the texts for everything. Plus, her notes are online.
Tme spent in lectures could be cut in half (at least) if she focused a little more and stuck to her lesson plan. Her energy is fine but she should stay on track. Don't gaff off the court visitation paper it is alot of work. Not so sure about the pepper either...
Excellent professor. Teaches everything needed in the time for class and even enough information that is not tested on to keep going. She has tons of fun with teaching and always takes all the time. Take classes from her. She is excellent!
she is very excited about what she's teaching, is very open to questions and gives pretty great hypos. she reviews before every exam and is crystal clear about what she will test on. just keep up with the case briefs and your good!
Great teacher so far. Lets see how she tests though.
Kubicek is awesome! She is crystal clear, thoughful, funny, animated and a hell of a professor! Exams are fair, grading is better than any other at Sac State and the material is interesting, useful and helpful if you want to be an attorney. I highly recommend taking this professor. Don't miss the opportunity to take her class!

If you want to get your money's worth, take Kubicek! She actually teaches you and keeps you interested at the same time! She answers all of your questions and is on top of answering emails. If you put in the time, you'll get a good grade. I cannot say enough good things about this teacher! Take her class!
I took Prof Kubicek for the second time during the Fall 2010 semester. This class was my first online class and I would not take it with anyone other than Professor Kubicek. She REALLY knows her stuff and her lectures are very funny and interesting. She is by far the BEST CRJ professor I've had so far and I am a senior!
Took it online, and it was based on a court project and two exams. Exams are 50% M/C and 50% Blue Book. Really easy class if you follow lectures and read the book. Court Project was very time consuming, but if you go to office hours she will tell you how to improve your paper and throw out a grade. Extremely easy class if you are self motivated.
This class was definitely a lot of information, but I've never seen someone explain concepts so well. She will completely disect a topic for you until you understand it. Woul highly recomend her! Very sweet!
The best professor at Sac State. Knows her stuff!! If you show up and listen, the material will stick. Just be ready to study some legal cases and do a court visitation project. Not difficult but not easy. I WILL take her again in a heartbeat!
Super nice and funny. She is there for the students and will help with anything she can. She challenges her students with some huge projects, but you learn a whole lot in the end. She knows her stuff and is interesting and easy to listen to. She is the best teacher by far at Sac State.
She is very helpful and understanding. She is all for her students success. Easy to talk to and ask questions. Will go over something until everyone understands - no such thing as stupid questions. Gives extensive assignments, but it pays off in the end. I learned a lot! Best teacher at Sac State.
This is an EXCELLENT Professor! Her lectures are very interesting, and she includes the class in her discussions! She is always available and willing to help. She seems to grade her hypo tests with high expectations, but if you study and try then you will do pretty well. She takes attendance, but is not the type to call you out for being late.
Great teacher. very enthusiastic and loves what she is talking about. She passed the BAR and knows her stuff!
Kubicek is a great professor that loves to talk a lot, but this is only because she is so passionate and well-rounded about teaching. I would recommend her because if you actually listen to her lectures instead of “face booking”, than you will gain a lot of knowledge. Tests were fair as well as paper and other assignments. Would recommend.
She is very passionate about what she is teaching. Overall the class was not difficult. To achieve a good grade you must read the chapters. She goes over most of the assigned readings in class. I would highly recommend to take this professor.
Love Kubicek!! its simple .. take her class!!!!
Professor Kubicek is an awesome professor! Do the work, go to class, practice for exams and you will do fine. She's very passionate and helpful, you will learn a lot. She is one of the best professors I've taken. I recommend!
Great Professor, two tests and one paper. Learned a lot highly recommend takeng her .
This professor is amazing! I absolutely loved her. She is very passionate about what she does and she is always willing to help. She is very clear and is just all around amazing. Would take her again HANDS DOWN!!!
Be prepared to take time off from your day job for a court project. Kubicek is fair but firm. Pay attention to the video lectures, do the case briefs, and you should do well.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!!! she makes the class fun and is extremely passionate about the subject. i learned so much and loved coming to class. hands down the best professor i have ever encountered and will take her again in a heart beat.
I always came to class because attendance was mandatory, but I never paid attention nor did i do the reading assignments she assigned us. I got an A in the class with a perfect score on her writting exam. Buy the book you'll need it for the test! Three test total. Two written exam and one final multiple choice. Gave some extra credit as well.
Great teacher uses a lot of examples and explains everything and why it is the way it is. You will need the book!
Best professor I have had so far. Learned so much information in a very interesting way, can't wait to take another class with her. Keeps it interesting and she loves her job.
Kubicek is amazing! I took her for Crj 2 and she is the reason that I decided to major in Criminal Justice and become a lawyer. Her lecture style is amazing! I would look forward to going to her class daily. She is very understanding, kind, and helpful. She doesn't assign any useless work. Attend class, and study and you will do great!
Professor Kubicek, is one of the best professor I have encountered. I had her for CRJ 121 online class. As an online class, I expected so much work, but it was not. Just a midterm( essay type), A court project, and Final ( multiple test). She tells you word for word what she wants, you can't really fail this class. She is McGeorge School graduate!
Kubicek is just awesome. She is clear during lectures, grading, and feedback. she is so energetic while teaching, and she gives funny and interesting stories. i would definately take any of her classes. btw she takes attendence almost everyday.
Love this teacher! Super dedicated working mom who cares deeply about her students learning & is there 150% for them. Highly recommend her class if you want to learn a lot!
Great lectures, only 2 tests and a paper. Lots of memorizing. Take online version and watch the lectures via SacCT anytime. Course material is not difficult.
If you didn't study, it was your fault. Easy to get an A, if you study everything. She's a great professor that really cares about her students. She was one of the best professors in the department. I have a lot of respect for this professor. I will be sending her an email saying thank you for everything that you do. I learned a lot
had to drop the class due to books being so expensive and none had rental options :/ but from her introductory speech about the class on the first day, I really wish I could've taken it. hope she teaches this section again next semester!
Professor Kubicek is a tough grader who expects clear attention to detail. There are only 2 tests and a project but all 3 require significant preparation, reading, outlining, and writing. This is not an easy class! Oh, and be ready to case brief! I love her style, her lectures, & her clear criteria- but this isn't a class you can skate by in.
This class is laid out simply- mid term, court project, final. Read about 2 chapters a week, case brief about 12 cases through the class, observe court proceedings & compare to the book & lectures. My only complaint is by the time she reviewed the req's for the project, it was almost time to turn it in. I did well but felt like I was winging it.
Best professor hands down I have taken at CSU. Everything you need to know is in her lectures. She gives feedback and is so helpful!!! Wish I could have her in all my classes!
Thank God for Laurie. I loved her class even though her lectures got pretty long. 2 essay exams & 1 multiple exam. She's an easy grader, just act like you know what you're talking about. Attendance and participation make up 10% of your grade so just show up and talk a bit. Bunch of reading at the beginning of the semester. YOU NEED THE TEXTBOOK!!!!
Super interesting course material, and an equally interesting lecturer. I looked forward to her lectures. Class does require a fair amount of outside studying. She speaks quickly and packs a lot into her lectures, so come to class prepared to listen intently. Grade is based on two essay tests and one MC test.
Best teacher I have had here at Sac State. She is truly passionate of the material. Textbook is pricey but so worth it. 2 test-all hypos. One final-multiple choice. She is easily accessible outside of class. She is so awesome-words can't describe. Work hard and pay attention-you'll get an A
Professor Kubicek is amazing! I took her this past summer for CRJ 121. Heavy course material for a summer class so its a lot of work in a short amount of time. Make sure to keep up on watching the lectures and the readings!! She is hilarious so lectures are entertaining. Midterm, final and court visitation project. Take Kubicek!!
AWESOME PROFESSOR, take her if you can! I thought I was doing horrible in her class since I barley kept up with the video lectures but watching them all over two days was actually really enjoyable. 1 written midterm law school type question, 1 multiple choice final and 1 awesome paper based on court observations which were alot of fun!
Professor Kubicek is a dedicated instructor that wants you to learn as well as enjoy the course. The online is a lot of work and watching the videos is important to reaching the "A" grade. Loved the course and assigned activities. The course was clearly defined in all aspects. She is very intelligent and makes you feel intelligent too.
For being the hardest prereq for CRJ majors, she makes the class a breeze. Her textbook is expensive (180ish). She keeps the class very easy, even when talking about rape or murder. The grade is just 3 tests: 2 are written, 1 multiple choice. No homework. Don't get behind on the classes, but you definitely don't have to watch the class immediately.
Kubicek is one of the best professors I have taken at CSUS. She provides great feedback on tests and is always available outside of class hours. She also provides us with recording of lectures incase we miss a day of lecture. I greatly recommend Kubicek as a professor because it is a class were you will learn a lot! -Easy A!!
Took CJ2 with her. Her lectures arent boring and she has some pretty good stories. She's super helpful if you are looking into law school. 3 in class essays which are her tests. Pretty easy if you read and go to lecture. Lecture is more important though because everything she talks about is what she is looking for in your writing.
CRJ2 with Kubicek was amazing. Great teacher! Super nice, caring, and understanding. She is very passionate about her subject. Definitely wants her students to pass. She is very helpful and aware. Makes the class very interesting. 2 case briefs, and 1 final exam. Show up to class because she does pass around an attendance sheet. Material from book
She was cool. I took her online and only had to show up for the midterm and final. The subject is super uninteresting to me and she made it tolerable.
Professor Kubicek was great! It was an online class but she posted video lectures and that made it so much easier than a typical online class for absorbing information. She does great review and repetition on what she tests on. She is a very fair grader, very forgiving, and works well with each student to ensure they are being helped the best way.
Kubicek is amazing!! She knows her stuff and will explain in more detail if you need it. I was on the verge of dropping only because I psyched myself out on the material. Prof. reassured me to stay and stick with it. I got an A on my midterm and an A on the final. The material isn't hard if you study and actually do the work. Glad I stayed! Thnk U!
I only had one serious gripe with Kubicek. She had written a text book, but the publisher hadn't released it yet so we were getting chapters as handouts. 4 weeks prior to the final exam, she says that we need to buy the textbook for our final. We didn't have this $120 book for 4 months, and now we had to buy it in April or risk failing the final.
Cool professor. Textbook required and it is used every single day of class. Knows her crimes and knowledgeable. Really nice as well. Easy class as long as you show up. Exams aren't too bad either, 2 hypotheticals, and final is multiple choice.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!
Took professor Kubicek during for Summer 2018. She is very knowledgable about the criminal justice field having been a former lawyer, her understanding of constitutional law is invaluable. Read the assigned readings (she wrote the book) and everything she expands on in class will be so helpful, she is a goldmine of knowledge. Do your case briefs!!!
The online class is awful. You've to watch a bunch of boring video lectures. The textbook is written by her (very basic legal terms and criminal cases, copy-paste from Westlaw).Your final grade is based on the midterm(too vague in-class essay)research paper and the final exam. If you miss one thats it! There is no extra credit.
I'm not one who really is into the lawyering side of CRJ but she makes the class interesting. There is a lot of on your own case briefing but not a lot of them are even turned in to be graded. She cares about her students and is very knowledgeable.
Kubicek is hilarious, she may come across facetious but she makes it a better experience learning about heavy stuff like homicide. Grade consists of 2 written exams, a multiple choice final and participation+attendance. The book is a bit expensive but it is needed to study. If you take time to learn what shes teaching you youll be just fine.
She is an amazing professor and gives very clear explanation, she is also super funny never a dull moment but she doesn't have a lot of things to be graded off of
She is an amazing professor, I cannot describe in words how much I loved her and this class. She is so passionate about what she teaches and you can tell she truly cares for her students.I learned so much in this class. The class isnt too hard, go to class and understand the material. Only thing I didnt like was the class is only graded by 3 exam
Amazing professor! She is so passionate on what she does! She is the pre-law adviser and always has great insights if you wanted to continue your education. She goes off her own textbook, 2 exams and one paper on a court observation. She is funny and overall great professor, always there to help out. 10/10 would recommend! (:
I took a hybrid online version of crj121. We only met 3 times for class; orientation, midterm, and final. Lectures were recorded from another current 121 class, two lecture videos a week (that I crammed before tests, dont recommend.) There are few opportunities for a grade so each test is important. Midterm is written, final is multiple choice.
She is one of the coolest professors out there. Just make sure you show up to every class. Do all of the case briefs! They help your grade! Midterm is case brief written type exam, final is multiple choice. Good teacher!
Online class is awful. Very expensive eBook written by herself required. Disorganized lazy style, expect to spend est 10 minutes of each video lecture watching her do roll call and trying to figure out what she is teaching for the day. Instead of organizing her own online materials, each student is expected to sort it out for themselves.
Professor Kubicek is awesome, she's a good lecturer and the case briefs you do in class are easy to follow and fun to do. Would totally take her again!
One of the best professors ever! I actually took her CRJ 195 course! I love talking to her and checking in. She truly cares about her students. I would highly recommend her. This was my 2nd time taking her and I do not regret any second of it. Wish there were more professors like her as well! Just stay on track and you will be fine!
Kubicek is the best 10/10!! She's a fantastic speaker, very understanding and approachable. The case briefs are very easy and interesting to follow. There's a midterm (hypothetical essay), court observation paper (watch 6hrs total), and final (multiple choice). Read the textbook that's required. It'll help a lot. I highly recommend this professor.
only homework is case briefs, either every week or every other week. goes over the case brief the day before its due & has whiteboard notes for them. midterm was an essay, which was pretty easy if you base it off the textbook and previous case briefs. have to watch 6 hours of court observations as a project=easy. multiple choice final online
easy class! case briefs are the only homework, which she goes over with the class before its due. very understanding, cares about attendance. one midterm short essay, final is multiple choice. court observation project=watch 6 hrs court proceedings & write about what you saw/relation to law journal and textbook. Easy A class if you put in the work
I thought the class was easy, many others in my class did not. If you put in the work (which is really not THAT much) you will get a great grade. Just do literally exactly what she says to do for the court observation project and you will get an A. Don't beat around the bush. She will understand your circumstances and is very caring.
Great professor. She will work with you if you have any questions or concerns. Don't procrastinate; read the instructions on assignments; put in the effort, and you will pass. I enjoyed this class it was very informational.
Class is straightforward. The only homework assignments are case briefs, which are pretty easy to do. Shes very understanding, so reach out to her if you need help or anything. Overall, I liked the class, the only thing is she requires you to buy her textbook, it's a bit pricey.
Great and funny. professor. easy and clear class.
She is a great teacher and provides really good feedback for your assignments. There's case briefs almost every week but she provides notes to help understand it a lot better. Two comprehension checks, midterm, final, and court observation besides case briefs. Just do what is asked and you will pass!
You have to work for your grade, weekly case briefs. Some quiz's. Mid term was an essay. Final M/C 80 questions. 6pg court observation project was tuff. easy grader.
This professor wants you to succeed as she accepts late work and is understanding. You have the whole semester knowing about a 6 hour court observation project which isn't a lot if you space it out thorughout the semester.
if I could give her a higher grading I would!! Amazing professor, very caring for her students. She will not let you fail her course! Very understanding and willing to give extensions if its needed.
This was my second time taking a class from Professor Kubicek, I genuinely love her teaching style and its pretty obvious she loves what she does. The class is not hard as long as you show up and do the work. Kubicek is big on communication so don't be scared to reach out!
She's willing to work with you when you have a personal issue, grades fairly fast and fairly, and always leaves a kind comment. Be sure to start your court observation paper early. I would, without a doubt, take one of her classes again.
Laurie is an understanding professor who cares about her students. While the workload isn't too heavy, put in the effort and you'll do well. I found Unstuck ai and the textbook really helpful for staying on top of the course.
Professor Kubicek is SO sweet, a genuine ray of sunshine. Her assignments are clear, lectures are so easy to understand, and her grading is easy to understand. Law is a pretty complex subject but Professor Kubicek makes it easy to understand.
Professor Kubicek's enthusiasm is infectious. She wants to share her knowledge with us and what she assigns is not "busy work." The only thing I would say is, the lectures are previous recordings and can be a little hard to hear at times, but you see the slides as a separate document. I wish she taught more classes!
