She was so good! loved her to death. I had her for 3 math classes. Passes you all the time, easy homework. OMG she is wonderful.

She was the best math teacher I've ever had. She explains everything very well. She really cares if her students are learning. And she gives you plenty of help and preparation for tests etc. I've always done horribly at math and have never really learned it. But I did well and felt I knew exactly what I was doing. She is a great teacher.

Laurie is AWESOME!! by far the best professor I have had at SLCC she makes sure you understand and takes time with you.

Great teacher, but DON'T take summer schedule if you struggle in math. she flies through concepts so fast I couldn't keep up. She does try and make sure you understand and she has a way of making it clear, but I felt overwhelmed by day 4. (3-4 concepts a day).

Best math teacher I have ever had! I hadn't taken math for 10 years and always hated in in school. This is the second class I have taken from her. I wish I could take all my math classes from her! To those that say she moves fast-- it is so she gets to everything as there is so much to go over. I never felt that she went too fast to ask questions.

She is a fantastic instructor!! She uses analogies when explaining equasions and solutions,that make them alot easier to understand and do, plus it helps make each concept stick in your head for tests!! by the pratice/ pre-test book she suggests, because yes the tests are indentical and it willo help study for the tests and perhaps the final!!

She was very helpful whenever I was lost or needed some help with a problem.

This professor is awesome, wonderful, and helpful. Have always hated algebra until now. I am now really liking it. My prior professor came to class regurgitated on the board and left. This one explains, answers ?'s, and helps me to understand the process. Can't say enough positive about her. I would take her again in a heartbeat!

I have failed math or never understood it for as long as I can remember. Laurie has helped me understand the concepts and gives great lectures, while making sure the entire class understands it before moving on. When she finishes her lectures early, you have time in class to work on your assignments, with her help. I would highly recommend her!

I'm horrible at math and Laurie was AMAZING at explaining things and breaking them down so they made sense however she always seems to run out of time during class. She attempts to be cool with students which is nice. Your attendance doesn't affect your grade and her office hours and location are convenient.

Laurie, is an awesome professor that you can ever ask for. She is here to help up learn and she helps in any ways so you do comprehend the formulas. My advice is to hurry and add her to your schedule she fills up fast. Awesome grader you can not ask for a better professor as her.

It's math if you don't understand ask what you don't get. She is a great teacher writes notes across the board. Reviews before tests. Do you homework you'll do better on the test. Don't get the online version of beginning algebra 0990.

I have always hated math. But Laurie turned that around. She always helped me when I needed it after class. I felt like she was always proud of me. Her math lectures are great. She has a great personality and loves to see her student's grow.

She was extremely scatterbrained, especially during the beginning of class, and she would often try to 'trick,' us as students (I hate that!). The concepts weren't always clear, and she didn't always show how to clearly get from point A to point B. That being said, she was happy to help during her office hours, no matter how stupid the question.

I loved this teacher. she would explain very well and go into your own pace. She will go around the class and see if anyone is struggling . If Math is not your subject take her and trust me you will be happy you toke her.

The BEST math teacher i've had. She thorougly explains each concept and makes math so much easier to understand. Show up to class, do assigned homework and it's an easy A. She responds quickly to emails and it always willing to do anything to help you with any problems, very understanding. Awesome teacher, I would highly recommend.

I would definitely recommend Laurie Paxton she is an amazing professor who really helps and cares about her students and explains thing well. I hatted to withdraw from her class this semester becuse of personal resins but will be take her math 1010 class next semester becuse see is really good and good math professors are hard to come by.

Laurie Paxton is supper nice old lady that is real nice and helpful math professor I and enplanes things while. Other math professor I have had rush through things to quickly she will go through the steps then when most of the class has go it then she will show you the short cuts. she is also in her office for extra help too.

Laurie Paxton is one of the best math professors that I have her at this college. Laurie explains things well. she is thier for you at certain times of the week in her office for help. She gives you a home work sheet after every test for the next set. So do all your homework and turn in on test day get your points you go to class you will pass.

I would take Laurie Paxton again in a heart beat. She is amazing at explaining things and makes sure that the students understand the work. She will take time to explain the work and the tests are good as long as you do your homework.

Laurie is a great professor, there are a lot of homework assignments for each chapter, test after each chapter, but was not bad. I would recommend her for people that struggle in math, she explains it well.

I loved Laurie's Math 920 class! She is a fantastic teacher! Although attendance is not mandatory I don't recommend missing her lectures. She explains everything in great detail and if your not there to learn the info you may not do well on the tests. But if you have an emergency she is wonderful to work around it. Loved her class!!!

Laurie is an excellent professor. She's not an old lady, so idk why the person below says that... She explains everything well, and gives great tips and tricks. She was there for me during the most difficult semester of my life (for personal reasons) so that I could still ace this class. I recommend her x100. I wouldn't take math from anyone else.

This is an amazing professor! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because a couple of the ways she explains how to do word problems didn't make sense to me no matter how hard I tried. She is clear with what the homework is (it's done online) and is fair with grading. It's easy to understand her lectures. Take from her! You won't regret it :)

I took Laurie for Math 920. And now 980. She is still the best! I am hoping to get her again for Math 1010. She explains everything very well, and grades everything very fast. Her lectures are not boring even though she is talking about math. I would highly recommend her!

I loved this class! Proffesor Paxton is so caring and willing to help you with any questions you have. There is homework every day, but it wasn't super time consuming. She is so organized and always has assignments/tests into canvas in just a couple of days. I would 100% recommend this class to anyone.

I took this course in the summer so it was quick paced, lots of information in a short time. She shows short cuts and teaches whys to remember the math/specific steps/etc. Homework was long, however I think it was needed so you can remember the material. Grading is solid. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. If you do the work, you should pass with a good grade.

Professor Paxton is outstanding because she is knowledgeable and knows how to teach. Her teaching method is very visual where she uses different color markers to emphasize concepts, math rules, which helps you understand and remember concepts better. She also used a lot of acronyms to help you remember math concepts/rules. She is very fair and fun

She's a pretty good professor. She'll read straight from the textbook which is boring and caused me to zone out at times. I understood everything she taught and is very accessible out of class if you need help. The homework was harder than actual quizzes/exams. Make sure to keep up with the homework as well!

Professor Paxton is a great professor. She is understanding and doesn't look at you like you're stupid when you ask questions. She is helpful and responds quickly to emails. She is a fast grader with lots of patience. 10/10 would recommend.

I took her for 980 after failing math in high school and passed with an A in class and A on the final! Tests are easy if you do the reviews she provides, and will answer any question thoroughly and stay after class with you if needed. I took 1010 with another professor failed but passed with a C when I took 1010 with her the following semester.

I took Ms Paxton for 920 and 980 and she has been fantastic teacher. She explains problems clearly and with great detail to make sure everyone gets it and answers every questions no matter how simple they can be. She is very good at grading tests and gives you chance for retakes. Please take her class, you will love it!

Great teacher! I've always struggled with math & she breaks it down & teaches in a way that I can easily understand. She is always happy to answer questions & she is a fast grader. I definitely got lucky when I randomly selected to take her class. Show up, do the work & you will easily pass with flying colors. I am taking her again next semester!

Laurie is an AMAZING math professor. Her lectures are fun, she uses catch phrases and tricks to help you remember things. She really knows her material and how to help you understand it. She gets grades in really quick, and wants everyone to know the material.

Paxton is very patient and makes learning math so much easier! Shell break it down and use little sayings/catch phrases. There is a lot on reviews and homework sometimes. She is willing to work with you outside of class and does take late work is needed

I really enjoyed Laurie's class. Math has never been my best subject, but her teaching was easy to understand. Sometimes the lectures did feel rushed at the end. The homework was time-consuming, but there were online videos that you could follow along to that helped me a lot. If you are willing to put the time and effort in, you'll be fine.

Laurie is the best! She really shows that she cares about her students & does a frat way of teaching math, I love the way she teaches and how smooth she is when it comes to homework & worksheets! Her reviews help a lot for the quizzes and exams!! I was never a math person but now I love math because of her!

Laurie is awesome! She color codes everything as you go through the material, and makes sure you understand each step. Gives great feedback on tests so you know where you went wrong. She always made herself available after/before class and was quick to answer emails. She was also very accommodating when I had to do stuff for another class.

Awesome professor ! I took math 0980 from her and she lectures at such a good pace. She will answer any questions and she is always available outside of class. Attendance is pretty important but she is super understanding. She teaches very well and is very clear. The class was not difficult and homework she usually gives two days to complete it.

Laurie is the best math teacher I have had since the 2nd grade. If you're like me and have a tougher time with math, you need to take it from Laurie. She is so caring and kind. Laurie is the absolute BEST hands down! I was nervous going back into math but taking her class I understood clearly and always got above an 80% on her exams and quizzes which never happened before! I highly recommend if you want a good grade and want to understand the material take her class!

She cares about your grade as well as you as a person. We had one quiz halfway through every chapter and a test at the end of the chapters. She allows as much extra credit that she can give. Attendance isn't mandatory but I went so I could understand all of the concepts. I really enjoyed this teacher and don't have anything bad to say.

Math is not my strongest suit, but she managed to make it easy to follow and actually learn. Do homework every night and the study the reviews. Especially for finals.

Best teacher out there. I took her twice. Her handwriting and notes are neat and clean and easy to follow. I loved the way she would do problems with us and then give us a problem to do on our own and walk around and make sure everyone had it before moving on. She is also super kind and understanding.

I really liked her as a teacher & a person. She was willing to stay after class to help you. She can be a little confusing with how she phrases things but she really good at showing the steps to the math problems. The hardest 2 projects she'll walk you through them. COVID19 transition was hard but she did it well. Would take again online/lecture

Laurie was the best math teacher I have ever had. Homework and tests are not crazy long or hard. I enjoyed her class a lot. She broke everything down really well and explained things in a different way that I had previously been taught. She's caring and understands that sometimes life is hard and throws you curve balls.

Laurie is the best! 12-week course: attendance is graded, homework every day, weekly review, and quiz for every unit. Laurie is very approachable, organized, and fair. She gives partial credit. 3 exams and a final where you show work. This class was a ton of work, 15+ hours a week, but Laurie is GREAT at teaching and provides lots of resources!

I was so intimidated taking a math course after a 10+ years hiatus and having been a D student. For someone that struggled so badly in math, I have carried an A all semester. Laurie is patient and explains the material thoroughly, takes time to ensure you understand. Thanks to Laurie I have confidence and no longer hate math, highly recommended !!

Laurie was a great professor and she was really funny. The class is very homework and test heavy so make sure to take good notes so you can understand what is going on and you will pass. Also if you do miss class you will get behind. She also answers any questions people have and will help work through them. One of the best math teachers I've had.

Laurie is awesome! She teaches well and is very happy to go over questions you may not understand. Unfortunately the Math 1010 board writes the tests, so they aren't always what the study guide has you work on, but Laurie is excellent at preparing you for your quizzes and exams. I would definitely recommend her!

Loved Laurie! I wish she was teaching Math1050. I had her broadcast/lecture class. 2 days a week meet up in zoom. She explained things so well. Answered questions you had. Weekly she does these reviews, containing 1 or 2 questions due every friday, you had to show your work and scan it in for points. Exams are done on proctorial.

Laurie is fantastic. She radiates happiness and is so kind and understanding to her students. Definitely the best online teacher I have had. I would love to take an in person class from her in the future.

I haven't really struggled with math in the past so I didn't think the course very difficult but she explained things very clearly in a way anyone could understand. It's important to ask questions, though, if you get confused on something. She'll gladly stop and explain it to you.

Paxton has been my favorite math professor I've ever had! She's really fun and easy to understand, to the point where any time we had a sub class was just weird. I cannot recommend her enough, she is super helpful and caring. All semester I could tell just how much she wanted me to succeed.

Professor Paxton is the BEST! I am not good with Math, but she made this class a lot easier. Her lectures are beyond helpful and very thorough. Laurie answers all questions during class and after class. There is 3 exams and quizzes for all modules. She also has videos to go back to watch if needed. I promise if you take her class you will pass!

I am an older college student and this was my first class in 18 years she made sure I understood what was being taught and if I ever needed out of class help she was always amazing with helping me. she really wants to see all her students succeed! I hope as I progress through to my degree I have more professors like her!

I would definitely take her class again! She provides notes that can be printed online to fill in each class, so you can spend less time writing and more time learning the material. She has review days prior to exams to help you prepare. She's thorough, answers questions and was available after class. Take her class, you'll be happy you did.

Laurie is amazing! Try to build your schedule around her if possible, you won't regret it. Her lectures make math very easy to understand and even if you miss class she has every module's lecture available through canvas. Homework has penalties if late, but deadlines keep you at a consistent pace for success. CAN'T RECOMMEND ENOUGH

Math is something I really struggle with and it's hard to find a professor that explains things well but Laurie made math easier. The only complaint I have is she can sometimes seem rude when talking to her one on one. If you ask a question during class she will go over it well but I don't think I'd feel comfortable getting one on one help by her.

Take her if you can. Spring 2025 should be her last semester before retiring. She teaches good and offers extra points. I didn't do to well because i didn't study for the exams, but she has printable notes and answers questions outside of class. Fantastic!

I've taken 2 math classes with her (990 & 1010). Attendance is mandatory. Homework isn't hard, with multiple attempts per question but there's 1% per day late penalty) and exams are fair. She liked to do reviews before the exams! I'm really gonna miss her! If you have the chance to take her class, you should definitely do it.

Professor Paxton is one of the best math teachers I've had. Her lectures are incredibly clear and engaging - she really cares about helping students understand the material. I found Unstuck ai super helpful for supplementing my study prep. Definitely take her class if you can!

It's a math class, so there's a lot of math homework, but if you do that, the class is easy, and her class is very easy to follow. The canvas was organized, and she always gave us a heads-up if something happened or changed and was receptive to any criticisms or questions.

Absolutely amazing! She is very good at teaching and explaining the math and is able to make it very understandable. Very understanding and accommodating, just an overall 5 star professor.
