Best professor I've had in a while! She's very knowledgeable and makes class interesting. U have to study to do well, but I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone for micro.

She is young, smart, and funny. Attendance is mandatory and you really have to read and study hard to get an A.. She gives 3 hw assignments, 3 exams, and a final. Her exams are tough and requires a lot of critical thinking and they're multiple choice questions.

She's not for babies. I met many of her C/D/F students and they were either lazy, not very bright, or a mixture of both. Whatever. Obtained an "A", and I worked moderately "hard" for it. Yes, she can go fast. Deal with it. There are projects due in close succession near the end of the semester. Plan accordingly. I recommend her. Crybabies warned.

The best professor I've ever had. I worked hard in her class but i also learned a lot. She is very helpful. I recommend her only if you are willing to put the time and effort to learn. If you are looking for an easy A don't take her, but not sure if I would trust someone in the health field who was not willing to work hard.

Loved professor Escudero! She's a true college professor, and will not babysit you. She lectures fast, but gives you the slides she lectures with. Take advantage of her office hours to ask questions, she is very helpful but strict. DON'T BE LATE, DON'T LEAVE EARLY, DON'T MISS CLASS WITHOUT CONTACTING HER. STUDY LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.

This is not a class for the lazy. She is an excellent professor . Never be absent or late,she gives points for attendance .

She is a tough, smart, fair, GOOD teacher! You must be willing to work hard and STUDY hard--it's a lot of material! 4 exams (HARD!) (final not cumulative), lab notebook (she's picky w/this!), lab quizzes, 1 presentation. She gives you the slides but you need to be in class to understand them. I recommend visiting her in office hours.

Escudero was one of my favorite teachers. She is engaging and passionate about the material and very good at explaining what you need to know. Only needed the book for a project at the end. Her class is not easy but it's Microbiology, which is not easy to begin with. I would definitely take her again. Great teacher!

Easy class, book not needed her PowerPoint presentations are more than enough. Attendance is very important for her, she actually takes roll call like in middle school!

Dr. Escudero teaches an organized, powerpoint based class. She has high standards, and a good sense of humor, and is fair. I would take her again if she taught any other pre-medical class.

She is an amazing instructor! As hard as microbiology is she does make it understandable. With that being said, her tests are really hard but she does give extra credit points. If you work hard you will do great in her class. She doesn't bend the rules and treats everyone the same. I would take her again.

She is a great teacher! Teaches you everything you need to know. You will have to work hard if you want an A, but definitely able to pass her class as long as you show up to class, take good notes, and study (as for any class). She is always available for any questions you may have. Lab is pretty straight forward, make sure to take notes for quiz.

Dr. Escudero is fair, helpful, and encouraging. She lectures fast but, she will ans. ?'s replies to emails and shows up to office Hrs. Info that you should know from prereqs is referenced, if you don't know it, just Google it, She won't spoon feed you info. rely on p. point, take notes and show up. Tests are 90% from PP 10% from comprehension.

Love this woman! would definitely take another class with her. Buying the textbook is not required as all her tests are based on lecture (power point style). Although she does go fast at times, she goes over all the important things and makes sure we all get it. Study and don't mess around in class! she is not afraid to call you out, i love that!

Great professor.

Best professor. NOT a tough grader, picky about lab notebook but tests are straightforward, no trick questions. Moves fast but she HAS to since 99% of the lecture is relevant to the tests. Great at teaching dense material. It's a hard subject DEAL WITH IT, more so cause WLA doesn't have proper prereqs IMO, take physio before it comes in handy!

Professor Escudero is great at what she does! Her powerpoint lectures are easy to follow and she thoroughly explains what you need to know. I took a human bio course after taking her general biology class and I can honestly say I already knew 80% of it thanks to her. She's also quirky and her personality really makes the class more interestingfun.

Great subject, and she is great at teaching so many chapters fast. Very clear about grading. I myself followed the powerpoints and also read the same topics from the book and it was really helpfull. Do not skip classes at all.

How to pass: study often, pay attention during lecture and don't lallygag. A's are earned not given: buy the book, read the chapters, and review her power point slides. Dr. Escudero is not trying to trick you--there was always at least one perfect score EVERY time we had a test. Her tests aren't impossible. Just learn the material.

She is a nice woman who cares about her students, a lot. She often makes jokes in class, and give out a lot of example. PAY ATTENTION when she tells you how to be able to pass the course tho, and basically just come to every class. Tests aren't hard but ain't easy either. There are EC and like 4 homeworks.

She is great and one of my favorite teachers so far. I originally took her for Bio 3A loved her so much I took her for Micro 20. I would take her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to any one. I would describe her as firm but fair. She is upfront about everything it takes to succeed in the class, do that and you should be fine.

Dr. E is truly amazing. I was fortunate to have taken a TON of other bio courses before this class, so I was familiar with some of these concepts. I can see how someone who's taking this class with only general bio under his/her belt would struggle. However, if you know how to study, listen in class, & follow the lecture/powerpts, you'll get an A.

I Can't imagine why anyone wouldn't love her. I've had all kinds of teachers from different institutions so I think I am pretty experienced in the professor department. She is nice, approachable, fair and actually explains concepts instead of just reading off power points. I think her tests and quizzes are fair, no trick questions.

Professor Escudero is great. The exams are based off her powerpoints which she posts on myetudes. Sure, the exams are long and can be difficult but if you study, you'll be fine. I bought the textbook but haven't used it. I just study her slides. And the lab portion is pretty easy. For Lab, make sure to take notes and study them for the lab quizzes.

Dr. Escudero is an amazing microbiology instructor. Your grade will be based off of 4 lecture exams, some more challenging then others. You will be required to present on a microbial/physiological ailment and a complete a traditional lab report on an unknown bacteria, again not too difficult to complete. I learned so much and loved it.

Prof. Escudero is a very informative instructor. Yes, she is very strict but only because she is full of knowledge and does not want to waste her time. I would recommend to attend every class to not fall behind. Keeping up with the material is a must if you do not want to jeopardize your grade. Also, STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! I loved her teasing style!

I took Escudero Spring 16 semester. A wonderful teacher. Never thought I would become so passionate for bacteria! Class is challenging -- not hard. Challenges you to think, understand, and apply. If youre willing to give undivided attention during lectures, follow the syllabus and requirements closely, and review, You WILL not get lower than a B!

Professor E was an excellent instructor. Her lectures/labs were very well organized, and she is just a funny person. Besides learning about interesting topics like viruses, the immune system, and antibiotics; the labs require you to frequently use the microscope and perform various stains/tests. It was a good way to improve these skills!

Strict, but caring. She expects you to work hard and you will learn a lot. All the people complaining about the points are either lazy, or are just used to easy classes. This is micro, buckle up because this and physiology will weed out the people that can't handle nursing school or any other program.

Dr. E is one of the best professors I've taken. Her lectures are to the point, just pay attention and you'll do well in the exams. Work hard and the end results will reflect. Labs and homework are extra chances to boost your grade. She even rounds up your grade to the next letter if you're just within the range. AWESOME professor indeed. take her!

I loved Dr. E. Her lectures are amazing. Enjoyed her class a lot. Record her lectures, listen to them as you study and you'll pass. Text book is not needed. Everything you need to know are from her lectures/power points. She gives extra credit and is a fair grader. A bit picky with the lab book, so just cautious. I would diff take her again.

Professor E is amazing. She is clearly passionate about microbio and cares about her students doing well. I got an A in the class and lab. I followed her rubric and syllabus and made sure that I reviewed my notes after every lecture. There's alot of material so make sure if you don't understand something to ask her right away. She's great!

AWESOME. Professor Escudero is the type of professor I wish all educators could be. Very clear, amazing didactic, inspirational. You gotta put work on it but it is totally worth it!!

I had previously tried taking Bio twice with other Professors! I'm grateful to have had Dr. Escudero. She is always willing to take questions, and never makes you feel unintelligent because you do not understand a concept. She isn't easy, she expects you to work, but she makes class fun and has a great sense of humor! She helped me love Bio. Cray!

She is an amazing teacher. She wants everyone in the class to do well and puts her students first. This class you definitely need to study. I took it over the summer and it is very time consuming but that's basically every class. I love how she uses real life examples and incorporates them into her lecture. Definitely recommend!!!

Definitely study for her exams there worth 50% of your grade, also understand that for her exams & quizzes you must use Proctorio which is a software to make sure you don't cheat, her modules are organized to understand materials each week you have labs, assignments, a presentation to do & discussions, make a study take good notes & get the book

Great professor. Online class is organized and clear. Lots to do, but it's micro and there's a lot to learn. If you want an easy A, this is not the class. There's a lot of whiny classmates that don't know what a college class is. If you want to learn and are ready to work, the this is the class!

Straightforward class but with a lot to study!! The summer was brutal because it was too fast. I learned a lot of interesting information useful for nursing school.

Good professor. Organized materials in canvas. I wish we would've been able to take the class in person, I'm sure it would've been more enjoyable. Office hours were only by appointment, but she was available whenever I emailed her.

No live meetings, completely online! She's organized and the class makes a lot of sense. Most of the lectures are power points with audio of her lecturing. Its a hard subject but I think being online makes it more challenging when it comes to managing your time. But if you are a healthcare worker it has more flexibility. Overall a great professor!

This class is very hard, but professor Escudero made it easier to follow and understand. I had to be super on top of things because it's a lot of information. It requires Labster so you will need a fairly good computer to do it. Other than that it was convenient because it was asynchronous.

I dont understand the bad reviews. I bet you all are used to getting away with the bare minimum. and I'm sure I know some of these students from the summer micro. WHINY! I took it in the summer and had to drop because it was too fast while working full time . I'm retaking now and have a solid A so far. Don't you want to learn?

I never took an asynchronous class, and it is so much flexible! Dr. Escudero has a VERY organized and clear Canvas. If you read every announcement carefully and her homepage consistently, you will stay on the loop! Assignments have a 24-hour late policy with a 10% penalty. If you are a working student like me, this is the professor you want!

No zoom class. She has recorded lectures that are the powerpoint slides with narrations. Those were so helpful and made the class to be very flexible! Very knowledgeable and reasonable. I feel like I learned a lot from this class.

Dr.E is very strict, but you will learn a lot from her class. As long as you keep up with the pace, read all of her instructions and materials, you'll do well. There is A LOT to do each week, but it prepares you well for a nursing/PA/med school. This is not an easy A, but manageable - I worked full time and had 2 other classes, and I got A+.

Take her! No zooms, unless you make an appointment. Slides have narrations and she draws on a blank slide like a classroom whiteboard. A lot going on and a lot of assignments, but organized.

The class is good, but it was hard to keep up when taking other classes and working full-time . If you take it, don't take it at the same time as Physio! If I'd taken it by itself I would've done better.

She cares ALOT about academic integrity. Micro is a hard subject and its harder when you have to learn on your own. You HAVE to read the book and go through the PPT lectures. Theres lab reports/ quizzes, labsters, 1 presentation, 3 exams 1 final. I took her during winter so it was fast with alot of work. Exams are very long and timed. Good luck!

Extremely organized canvas. Very clear instructions, and guides you through the modules well. Most lectures are powerpoints with her voice narration, snd they were so good! I wish I could've taken her class in-person, I think she would of been awesome!

The class is well structured. Easier to follow than other instructors. It's a hard class but very good being online.

Dr. Escudero was a great teacher! Her class was jam-packed with many small assignments stay on top of things. Most lectures were pre-recorded with narrations and that was very helpful. The lab simulations were super cool tool. I like the flexibility the online format and how she organized it, very clear!

The class is tough, just like physiology. A lot to learn, but you'll be glad to take it with professor Escudero. I learned so much useful information!

Finished the summer session in 5 weeks and wow that was hard! I think if I'd taken it in a regular semester I would've gotten A. Canvas is very organized and easy to follow. She sends a summary of the material every week and has a checklist to help keep track of everything due. Don't email but use the canvas messaging instead to get a response.

Professor set up of the class was very easy to follow and understand. If you are looking for an easy A then look elsewhere. This course is set up to help one grasp the knowledge of microbiology and not just another course to check off your check list for RN program requirements. Come ready to learn and put in the work to earn the grade you want.

Took Dr E's class before the pandemic in person & she was fantastic but had to drop bc of a family situation. Came back to her online class last semester. I was VERY skeptical about being online, but Dr E's canvas class was amazing! There's virtual simulations for lab techniques and a lot of supportive material. Either way, she's a good instructor.

Dr. E was a great instructor. I had her for the hybrid class so I got to experience her online and in-person for the labs. She's very knowledgeable and made sure to help me understand stuff when I went to office hours. Just be prepare and come with questions!

Prof. Escudero's class was easy to follow cause it was so organized! It was an online late start and a little faster pace. There's a lot to do for the lab and you have to turn in these assignments almost every day but it kept me in check. Worked full time during the class and I wasn't good with my time management. but overall a great class.

I learnt so much in this class. For an upper division class the website was organized and gave me the materials to study. most of the lectures were narrated slides and it felt like I was in class with her.

Dr. Escudero's class was just what I needed. It was really organized and clear, flexible with no zoom meetings, and I learned a lot. I took the 8 weeks section and it included a wet lab project. She knows what she's doing! The class was very hard but it's a tough subject.

Prof E's class was very informative and I feel everything I learned will be so useful in nursing school! There was a LOT of work and expected for a hard advanced science class, but it helped me not slack and procrastinate. The format was intense because of having so much homework due so often but definitely forced me to dedicate time every day.

Such a good professor! Recorded lectures are very useful, clear instructions, makes efforts to respond to messages fast. Many different assignments and many of them. Can be overwhelming but it helps to have so many opportunities. Also very approachable.

I took Dr. Escudero's class over the summer, which was fast-paced. Not gonna lie, it was pretty hard. I recommend just spending a lot of time studying, doing the assignments, and contacting her if you need help!

For an 8-week, online-only Microbiology course, there is a TON of work. Dr. Escudero has put together a good course given the challenges. Make sure you buy the Lab Manual as well as the textbook. Dr. Escudero also was pretty responsive via email, but you'll need 15-20 hours a week of self-study to succeed in this class.

Take it with Dr. E! If you care about your career you'll learn so much with her. Recorded lectures and PowerPoints provided. There's a wet lab done form home, a lab project, and a presentation. She uses Labster simulations for the lab and are fun. There's a lot of little things due 4-5 days a week but it helps with staying on top of things!

Professor Escudero is hands down one of the best professors I've had! She brings real life examples into lecture, and makes difficult topics easier to understand. She's very approachable, provides detailed and clear instructions, and genuinely wants you to succeed. If you want to learn I highly recommend her class.

By far one of the best professors I've had. It's true, the winter was brutal because the weekly work triples with something due almost everyday but I was able to finish it in 5 weeks instead of 15. Microbio is a tough subject and not an easy A. If you want to learn about germs and infections well, take this professor.

Dr. E is an amazing professor. If you are serious about a career in healthcare, then you need to take her class. She will challenge you with the intention to prepare you for your professional school. Full participation is necessary and put in the work and you'll do well. The lab has an at home wet lab. DO NOT use AI, she knows all the tricks.

Amazing professor. I had to retake Micro to do the labs in person and I enthusiastically chose to do it again with Dr. E. If you can, do the hybrid course - most of the bad reviews are from people who took an accelerated, 100% online course and then are salty that someone isn't holding their hand the whole time.

If you did well in chem/bio, 5 wk course isn't hard. Study the online lectures and short handouts, book isn't always needed. Online simulations everyday (easy), 2 lab quizes the entire semester, mini quizes, wet lab, disease presentation, and species ID projects. 4 exams with around 100 questions each. No E.C, so try to get perfect scores on hw.

Dr. Escudero is super organized and clear. The class moves fast, but if you keep up with lectures and assignments, you'll be fine. She's fair, responsive, and gives you all the tools you need. Not an easy A, but totally doable if you put in the effort. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the class.
