Really excellent teacher, explains things clearly and thoroughly
No Comments
Lectures are a bit confusing but exams come straight from the notes
tests are way too specific, too many notes, boring as hell
No Comments
Easy professor, but tends to be a little on the psycho side.
entertaining class, tests exactly from notes- just don't skip
He is awesome

Bring an airhorn to class and blow it when he becomes boring
tests easy, lectures boring, wooden tie...what else can i say?
VERY understanding, helpful, tests are straight from notes, tells great jokes!
Easy! Great guy!
Not only is the class easy, but you end up leaving, feeling like you've learned
He's in his own little econ world, he has lots of annoying tendencies. He's nuts
No Comments
This prof is funny and an economics NERD. Unbuttons shirt to reveal dollar sign $ on his chest and calls himself Econ-Man . A little fruity, wears a wooden tie too. I'd recommend him for Econ....helps you whenever you have trouble.

Awesome professor! Just copy down everything he writes on the board and you'll get an A on the exams. Very helpful.
Good teacher, loves what he teaches and has a good sense of humor.
Going to the lecture was horrible.....the test had nothing to do with the notes you had to copy down. He confused the hell out of me.

really nice guy... just wants people to like him! the lectures get incredibly boring but go to class or else it will affect your grade.

He is awesome.
Good teacher. He alwasy seems discombobulated though. He tries to be funny, but he's really not, and that makes him quite entertaining.
Really nice guy, does weird you out at the beginning of the semester, but you get used to it and it's entertaining. Had a pizza party at last class after a 15 min review. Tests are hard essay's, but he lets you choose 5 out 10, which makes it easy.
Nice guy! A little squirrely, but he jokes around & tries to make it interesting. Very helpful. I would recommend him to anybody, pretty easy.
Outstanding person. He is very prepared, really knows the subject, and finds ways to pull it into real events. Overall wonderful professor.
Very nice guy! Lectures were boring, but you get points for just sitting there :) Tests were awesome cause you get to pick 5 questions out of 10. He tries to make a lot of jokes, and the funny part is that he thinks its funny. I would recommend :)
best eco prof ever! sooo funny. a little cookey but the class isnt bad. very helpful . nice curve on tests. allover funny guy and great prof!!
Brunner is a great teacher. He knows his stuff and as long as show up to class, you'll be OK.
I never knew that economics could be so fun!!!!

He is not the "coolest" guy in the world, but he sure can make the class laugh. From stupid jokes to passing around signs with hell frozen over, he keeps everyone awake and involved. Highly recommend this prof!!!!
Great guy! love the wooden tie and ECONMAN shirt! had him for 202 as well. great intructor, makes everything clear and breaks it down so you can understand which is more than i can say for others in the dept. take him take him take him!
Very nice guy, makes class funny in a corny way. Economics is much more fun than I thought it would be. Get Brunner as a teacher!
The Man
Larry is definitly a great guy. The way he talks takes a little getting used to, but definitly a good choice if you are intereseted in taking this class
Besides the fact he is a complete tool, he was a good teacher. Thinks he is funny and lectures are boring. tests were easy b/c he gives easy to follow study guides.
He is very willing to help, always willing to answer questions. Ask him to a do a review sheet, the most helpful thing in the world because it gives you what is on the tests and the answers he is looking for. Tests are easy as long as you study the review sheet. Very nice guy.
Great teacher, good class. All you have to do is pay attention and take good notes. You don't need the book.
Ok if you don't pass this class with a C or better you should seriously think about a major career change like working at McDonald's.
This class, and professor, are EXTREMELY boring. It's hard to pay attention and stay awake, but a lot of the material is common sense. He gives good study guides and keeps all notes on hand at the library. He's a very nice guy and will help you out if you need it.
He is a really great prof if you can't get at least C+ there is something wrong with you.
Class is really boring, he is a really nice man though. He is so intelligent, but can't really teach all of his knowledge. Tests were kind of hard, but worksheets help out with the grade.
If you fail this class you obviously never came to class. Take this professor for any ECO class and you will pass with flying colors.
Hard concepts but he is so helpful. worksheets help alot. very smart and nice guy. funny too!
I love this guy! He posts all assignments online and has notes on reserve if you miss class. If you're not an idiot you'll do great in his class. On his tests he has like 10 questions- you pick 5 to answer. The lectures are dry at times, but this guy is really trying. I think he's a great economics teacher and NO it's not because the class is easy!
Dr. Brunner....what a guy. He starts off the day with jokes no one understands, but it takes up a good 15 minutes, so you've gotta love it. Overall, "Money-man" did a great job being willing to help all students, and went out of his way to help us all get good grades. His lectures may be a little confusing at times, but hang in there, he'll thro
in the words of Paris Hilton that is HOT!
Economics is hard to teach, but Brunner makes it fun. His jokes are corny, but he is a really nice guy. Take this class!
SO NICE, he tries very hard, dry sense of humor, he is very willing to answer questions, tests are average and he always has the previous class periods handouts if you miss class, he is a very genuine man and I highly recomend him
mr b is great teacher
He makes the info very easy to understand considering the complexity of the subject area. Tells you everything you need for the tests, and there is no homework. Didn't open the book once and got an A.
Genuine guy and unique teacher. He starts class with dry humored jokes and it's a nice break when you first get there. No homework, basicly all lecture so just take good notes and study and use the study guides to pass the tests, which aren't that hard either. Great class, great teacher.
No reason to buy his book. Very easy class, hard to not get an A. Before every test he gives out a review sheet and if you just memorize it you'll get an A. It's a summary of the lecture so notes aren't necessarily, but he requires attendance. Overall if you can memorize a sheet you'll get an A.
Go to class and you'll pass.
Lots of Group work.
Dr. Brunner is a sweet guy. I always feel bad because he tries to make jokes but no one ever finds them funny or laughs. Pretty much you take notes, get a worksheet every class that you're supposed to work on in your group. He gives a helpful exam review to study from. I would definitely recommend his class! It was pretty easy.
Probably the nicest person alive. Takes attendance, but its not mandatory. In-class assignment every day, but answers are online so you can just copy them from blackboard. Overall, one of the easiest A's ever. Very boring though. Take him.
Never buy the book. Come to class. Bring other work to do. Just memorize a study guide before the test. U will get an A. Curves tests also. received an A for what should have been a C. Best Prof at CMU!!!
Easiest Class Ever! No Book! Easy Easy Exams! I got over a 100% on all of them, and I started studying for them an hour before. Maybe it was because I had already taken ECO 203 and 204. Still, easy class, easy tests, easy easy. Take Brunner!
Numba One Brunnna!
Great teacher, always brings a smile and a joke to class everyday. Does not require a book. Super easy, and cheesy great jokes.
Go to class, take the notes, study for the exams and you will be successful and do well in his class. On his exams, he gives you 7 questions and you only have to do 5.
Awesome class, Amazing professor. Love him =)
Cool. Good man. Kinda boring, but show up, and you'll be more than fine. Easy A.
I was nervous to take a 300 level Econ class but this guy was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He lets you know exactly what will be on the tests and is more than willing to help you out whenever needed. You should definitely take him if you need an Econ elective or this exact class.
NICE GUY! TAKE IT! EASY A!
Great professor. He's very helpful and wants to help you if you're having any trouble. Take him no matter what level ECO you need to take.
Such a nice guy, trys to keep class entertaining. Highly recommended. :)
Don't buy his book, second time I've had him and he tells the same jokes. Other than that he is awesome, very helpful with exam material as he gives out a review sheet that has everything you need to know, lectures are a bit dry but when are they not.
Brunner is AMAZING! I am now a HS Econ teacher and I use my old notes to refresh! He is so cool! I love the Econ Man shirt and the wooden tie : ) Keep it up Brunner!
Definitely recommend. He is funny and always tells jokes, but the book is not needed. Can be a little dry at times, but he tries his best to keep interest. Makes really good review sheets so tests are relatively simple if you study at all.
Doctor Brunner is a great teacher, he talks a lot but explains things thoroughly. Exams are difficult but he as an amazing curve. if you dont miss a class you get some extra credit. and i really stress going to class he covers a lot of material. and ask questions. he gives extra credit for that too. love doc Brunner :)
Class would be very difficult if he didn't curve the grades. I got a C on my exam and ended up with a A+ due to the curve. He is pretty funny, he likes to read jokes off of college humor before each class. I would take this class if your looking for a easy U.P.
I know you're reading this, Larry. I found that wooden tie you wore that one day to be quite whimsical.
He's a great professor. All he wants is for everyone in his classes to do well and learn the material. He curves the grades which helps a ton, but, aside from that, the material is pretty easy as long as you take notes, pay attention, and go to class.
Dr. Brunner was the best teacher to start my college career with! He was understanding and easy to follow. I even gave him a chili pepper for hotness since he complained he didn't get any on this site =]
Nice guy always willing to help you out if your lost or just need help. His notes can be a little hard to follow but overall not too bad. Just show up and you should be able to get a B fairly easy.
Dr. Brunner is a super nice guy. He will take the time to get to know you. Attendance is mandatory and is worth about 10% of your grade - so go to class! Exams can be challenging, but the curve is great. Be ready to learn about how much he hates the government though!
Very easy class. Gives all test answers on the pretest
Dr. Brunner is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. This is a difficult class, but he makes it enjoyable. Do not buy the book. He starts every class with humor to ease everyone up, and then always has very useful lectures. Study guides given out before tests. Use them, memorize notes verbatim, and there's no reason you shouldn't ace this class.
He is a great teacher, you take a lot of notes in the class. The tests are essay based and you can choose which ones to do. He also curves the grades so that helps. I would highly suggest him for any class he teaches.
he is left handed which was annoying when he was doing notes. Other then that he was great
Dr. Brunner is a genuinely great guy! I don't really have much of an interest in economics, but he does his best to make a potentially dull subject, as interesting as he possibly can. He's really funny, and is always ready to help you whenever needed. I would recommend him for any class!
Very easy teacher, he makes lectures interesting with comics in the beginning. He bases all the exams off of the exam review! Easy A!
Dr. Brunner is a GREAT guy. He's always willing to help and genuinely cares about his students. He takes the time to get to know everyone, and really makes sure that everyone understands his material. His class material may be dull at times, but if you can think of any related questions you might want to ask, he can go off on an awesome tangent!
Lots of notes. The class is very routine. Take notes and do an in class assignment every day. His notes are kind of hard to understand but he is very willing to help. Exams are based off of the practice exam he gives a week prior to taking it. Real nice guy too. Good class.
Great professor who really knows his stuff. Has funny jokes before class and gives a great study guide /pre test before the exam. Take Econ 110 with Brunner
Not only does he not make you buy a textbook but Dr. Brunner is very generous with his notes and gives out practice exams. This class is an easy A.
Dr.Brunner is a great teacher. If you pay attention, ask questions and take the notes since no txtbook is required your bound to pass. He can be dull during the note taking portion of class so make sure you get lots of sleep. Also Attendance counts with him. He is cool and laidback. Always take advantage of his help if he asks you do you understand
Dr. Brunner is a great guy classes are easy, and worth points if you go. Test can be a little tough but with the curve he gives you are almost guaranteed to get at least a B.
Brunner is such a nice guy. That being said, the material is super boring & his handwriting is from another planet. If you show up to class with enough caffeine in your system, you should be able to stay focused and pass with flying colors. ALSO the pretest is almost exactly the same as his exams.
This was a fun course and Professor Brunner is a surprisingly funny teacher. The subject seemed to be tough for most students, but he did a pretty good job teaching. If your in to conservative political rants, this is also the teacher for you.
Attendance is mandatory, so if you go you will get 20% of your grade right there. Exams are pretty much based off quizzes, so study those and you will do fine. He has a ridiculous curve. You literally need a 70% and you get an A+ on the exam. not kidding
Pretty good professor because he curves your exam grades very crazy! Most people will fail but he will curve is so that you pass. Not exaggerating, he curved 2 of them by half of the points. Attendance is 20% of your grade so be there!
Brunner is awesome!! He is so nice, and always has jokes put up on the screen! He was a great teacher to have as my first econ class, no homework outside of class. and generous curve on exams! I'm so lucky I had him! can't say enough about him!
Best prof at CMU, if you have to take any econ classes make sure it's one with Dr. Brunner.
Brunner is absolutely awesome. There was no homework to be had in this class except for studying. Puts up jokes on the overhead every day. Would definitely take again. P.S. Go to class, your grade depends on your attendance.
Professor Brunner started off every class with cheesy jokes, but you couldn't help but laugh. Attendance counts, exams are all true and false multiple choice with crazy curves, and his lectures are a little boring. He doesn't require a textbook which was nice. Would definitely take again.
Such a boring class, incredibly easy. If you're at all interested in economics don't take, very disappointed. Ended up with an A, yet didn't learn anything. The entire course is geared to spewing conservative trickle down economics facts. Someone could essentially miss every class and if you went into the exams with a republican agenda, easy A.
He is a good teacher if you are interested in econ. I was bored every class and each hour went on forever. He is really scattered all over the place for every lecture. I ended up stopping with notes and just winged the tests. He curves every test at least 13 points out of the average 85 point tests.
Awful jokes, but that's what makes them funny right?
Such a sweet man. Lectures aren't fun, but the topic isn't all that fun. Notes are handwritten so follow along in class and take book notes. Using statistics on the exams will get you an A. 3 exams w/ 5 essay questions in which you get to pick from 10 total. The only other grades are abstract reading summaries & attendance. I'd recommend.
Professor Brunner is an awesome professor. If you are an Econ student at CMU he is one of your best bets to take. If you take notes and pay attention in class you will pass. He is also a very nice guy and is very flexible about missed classes
Loved his class. Lectures for a huge majority of most classes. He didn't require a textbook so everything that was on the exams was stuff he went over in class. Gives practice tests that are almost the same as the actual tests usually 2 classes before actual tests and posts the answers online. Loves you if you ask questions
No book is provided so you must take notes. Majority of grade is testing. Attendance and participation is required. Homework is minimal. Has a different type of humor which I found interesting, but most students did not. I recommend printing the lecture notes prior to class so you can follow along during the lecture and highlight important items.
Potentially the most boring class you will attend during your time at CMU. No textbook. Writes in notebook under projector every class period and course content is completely unstructured. 4th grade handwriting. Clearly knowledgable, but his teaching style reflects the 80s. Attendance mandatory. Lifeless lectures. Learned very little, but easy A
Attendance is mandatory and lecture is dry, but his lectures give you exactly what you need for the exam. He really knows econ and is easy to talk to if you need help or need to change the date of an exam.
He is a really goofy guy; he shows memes before class starts the majority of days. His lectures give you exactly what you need for the exams, and his practice quizzes are almost identical to the actual exams. Definitely Recommend!
The lectures are really boring, but attendance is taken every day. The practice quizzes really help when studying for the exam. He is kind of quirky, and kind of quiet, but he means well.
Big % of grade is attendance. Lecture HEAVY, but that's normal for a economic class. His notes consist of random facts, that are needed for the exam. Study guides are very similar to exams. Starts every class with a joke, very laid back.
gives study guides for every exam and the study guide is almost exactly the same as the exams just a few changes. He is a very nice professor and cares about his students but the lectures are rather boring. Attendance is mandatory and you need to get the notes he writes in class anyway
Dr. Brunner tells tons of jokes and is pretty easy to get along with. I took him for ECO204 and the course structure consisted of daily in class exercises and exams with no out of class homework. The exams can be tough and he is very lecture heavy, but show up, study a little bit, and you will be fine.
Brunner is a good teacher, but has a strong Republican Bias which sometimes shows in his teaching. Show up to class and take notes, and make sure to ask questions because they benefit your grade at the end of the year. Do the online practice tests he gives at least once a day before the test to retain most of the random material he tests on.
Class is lecture heavy and boring but notes are only presented in class (not put online) so attendance is mandatory and counts towards your grade because he calls on groups to answer activity sheets done in class. Exams are the same as the review and are 60-80 MC questions. In-class notes and activities are irrelevant to the exams.
Dr. Brunner is a great prof! He always started the class with jokes and cares about econ a lot. Be prepared for class bc he calls on students randomly. Get ready to work in the same group all semester in class. Study his study guides to ace exams, it's really not hard to do. Even if you don't like econ, Dr. Brunner makes this class worth attending.
This class was definitely self-learn. Only graded out of a homework, quizzes (4), and tests (4). Professor Brunner is very kind and wants you to succeed, but he does not interact with his students a lot (given, this was an online course). No projects, papers, etc. I would take this course with professor Brunner if you need to fulfill this credit!
