Very easy teacher, just attend class and read book. Test are Easy.
Do the readings, very easy exams
Easy tests, read book, study guide helps a lot.
Study the major terms.
Very funny.Lectures are fun(not necessary).Do book,CD & study guide.No x-tra pts
Exams get harder. Lectures fun. Study key terms, read a little after 1st test.
Do the study guide and study key terms. Not always neccessary to go to class.
Tests are pretty easy, always look at terms for tests, helpful teacher
not helpful at all - tests are okay if you study (read the book
don't go to class, study the book and you'll get a B.
Material very easy, study notes and key terms do study guides and you'll be fine
does the guy own more than one pair of those Nautica jeans????
nice guy i guess.. most of the material is straight from the book!
Lectures are totally pointless, just read the book and take your own notes
good guy/ just a really hard class
No Comments
Good prof, knows his stuff...lectures can be boring, but tests are fairly easy
stay in bed ull get better sleep in it than the lecture very unclear, stay away
if your lazy u can get a B by staying in bed and memorizing key terms
thinks he's a comedian, will make you laugh w/ sex material, tests=read bookk
dont go to class- just memorize the key terms
Read the book, test cover lots of material, good luck
Don't waste your time going to class, read the book instead.
follow reading, take notes in class, pretty easy if you work a little.
great teacher, interesting lectures, make sure you read the text.
Funny guy, lectures are full of information would recomend this class
Easy class, great guy, lectures are funny and interesting
humor isnt funny, class is pointless, read the book and study- tests are hard!
hard course, lots of memorization, professor pointless
dont really need to go to class--all the tests are out of the book

take him so you can have extra free time and raise your gpa

Rude, lectures good cure for insomnia
mad funny, informative, but talks quickly. read book, study, you'll pass the course. unless you are a ****.
read the book or go to class, easy, fun reminds me of a retired hippie
not too bad, dont really need to go to lectures, but they are ok.... tests are fair and not too hard, just do review sheet before tests...nice guy
He's really nice, funny, and down to earth. The tests are pretty easy as long as you know your vocab.

Nice guy overall, funny, but sometimes boring. Study notes and know vocab- not too hard.
Good guy- likes to joke- pretty funny discussions. Exams not too hard- he's easy-going.

pretty easy class, study lec and vocab and be fine, prof is ok, has sense of humor
pointless to attend class, just read and you'll do fine.
Easy going, funny guy. Lectures are not essential but are entertaining and fly by. Tests can be tricky if you don't pay attention to detail. Research requirement blows but is not his fault - and he offers extra credit.
went to one class and was so distracted and onfused I never ever went back to class studied before tests and passed.
Great guy, funny and knowledgeable in class. I enjoyed the topics and he made them seem interesting. I would recommend him highly as a teacher.
great professor!!! you should go to class. he is very intelligent and gives us lots of interesting info.
Don't DARE go to class!! All info on exams is in the book. Read the book and u will be fine. I went to one class and got an A.
Tests are very hard, dont go to class, make sure to read the book thoroughly, tests only cover book material, not funny at all, boring class
Best class I had my freshman year. This guy is has dry humor that is actually funny. Not too friendly but to get an A, read each chapter and memorize key points.
Has a sense of humor...but is a hard teacher. Tests are impossible to get A's on b/c they cover way too much info. Not an easy class...but not an awful teacher. Just make sure you study!
Excellent teacher. Best class I took this year. highly recommend him, his tests are easy if you study the key terms he gives you. Lectures are funny and he knows how to keep students attention. Take his class if you can
make sure to read the book
he is good and very organized, though slightly monotonous
dont waste ur time and go to class. when he says that there will be stuff on the test thats not in the book, he is LYING!! just read and you will do fine...only go to class if you need a quiet place to nap.
Tests are hard - Be sure to read and study a lot! Has a sense of humor and can be quite funny at times. Be sure to read and study - tests are hard!!
I really like his class even though i'm not doing too well. His lectures actually keep you up, and although his tests cover a lot of information, he tries really hard to make the curve benefit most people.
ever want to have the father from american pie as a teacher...we this guy is pratically him
he is probably one of the best teachers i have ever had. Interesting class, EASY tests if you come to class, take notes, and read, and he is very humerous.
Good prof, lots of material. don't go to class, but do read the book carefully, take notes.
Good teacher and extremely fair. Very possible to get A's without attending class, as he follows the syllabus and the text very well.
Great teacher. Nice guy, good sence of humor, friendly, very intelligent. The class is a very good one. It's a little challenging if you don't learn well by reading, because he teaches strait from the text. He curves the tests, which is fantastic.
pretty good teacher, can be funny which is good.. really nice guy, good teacher but teachers right out of book so just read that ALOT. Tests are ok just know book material, its good he curves them too. good teacher though.
Great teacher. He tells you almost exactly what will be covered on the test. Go to class and read for an A. Only negative thing about him is the he uses handwritten or typed notes on a projector for the class. Can be very difficult to see at times.
He was great! He tells stories and makes comments that are hysterical. Definaitly go to class, take notes, and read the chapters. Tests can be challenging but there is ALWAYS a nice curve. Prof. Cohen made this a great class.
one of the worst teachers i've ever had. exam policies are ridiculous.refuses to make powerpoint available to students even though textbook author made them.just an ass in general.easy though,i got a C and didn't read period or attend after first exam
Boring Powerpoint presentations entire class. A few witty comments from him might keep you awake. Does not take attendence, which is good since most of the time half the class was not there. Tests are tricky. Does curve.
Went through powerpoints in class, but told interesting stories. Was very willing to help if you asked him.
for an intro level class i thought it was pretty cool. there were some boring points, but going to class wasn't always needed, you could pass with a b by just reading the book. tests, somewhat tricky if not very prepared, but curved so that's a bonus. coh
Class is straight from the book. His lecture slides are all copied straight from the book's website and his tests are just off the book. So...read the book thoroughly and yall do alright
Easy Class. Read the Chapters before the exams and you're fine. Don't bother goin to class its a waste of time (unless you need to catch some ZZZZ's) 4 exams all noncumulative.
Dr. Cohen is the best teacher ever!!!!!!
Great teacher!
Tests are straight from the book. Class is boring, but sometimes there are questions from class movies. I recommend taking him.. But be sure to read the book!
Easy class, just read the book and ask your friends what happened in the movie. Nice guy, easy class. Take him
Easy class. Just read the book and you'll do fine on exams. Great professor, looks a lot like Jims dad on American Pie. Good guy.
nice guy, very funny. class is interesting and right from the book. I don't know what people mean about him looking like the American Pie guy, though. Maybe they sit too far back in the huge room to actually see him? Good class.
and one time, at band camp....yep, thats right kids, it's jim's dad. he looks JUST like him. class is a waste of time, just read read read. other than that, steer clear of apple pies:)
Even though the material was EXTREMELY boring, Cohen frequently made jokes during class which made the long-ass class go by faster.
Such a hard class. But he emails all the notes to you so you don't really need to attend class. There is extra credit available. You need to read the book because his tests cover the notes and information found only in the book.
terrible class
Class was boring(when I attended it) and the exams were quite picky. Overall, this class was a waste of time and effort.
easy class. lectures arent that important because he emails you the notes. as long as you understand the book you'll easily pass with at least a B.
greatest teacher ever. very easy. don't ever go to class. everything is straight from the textbook. 4 multiple choice exams, non-cumilative. if you read the textbook before the exams than you are gaurenteed to get an A. also gives a lot of extra credit to cushion your grade.
Good professor but Lectures were boring and exams were hard. Make sure you know everything from the book because he tests you on stuff you didn't go over in class.
This teacher was so pleasant and funny..he made learning psychology interesting. Definately read the book for good test grades, but lectures are also covered. Lectures are NOT boring. Take this class!
His lectures put me to sleep, but as long as you read the slides he sends you and DEFINITELY read your text book, you can get a B in the class... and do the exta credit it helps! He is the nicest guy, but the lectures drag on.
this guy will make you laugh. Definitely read the book

If you have problems with this guy, drop out of college and sign up at DeVry.
The best prof at U Del- and I should know. Wickedly funny, extremely smart and truly caring. What's not to like?
great prof- take his class
He is a great teacher, very funny. I only went to the review class right before each exam. I read and his notes are on webct so you don't need to go to the lectures. I definitely enjoyed him and i ended up getting an A. Definitely take him!
I love this guy! He's sooo funny. Going to class isn't necessary, but i always go just because he's so funny, and the material is pretty interesting. The tests aren't too bad, unless you didn't study at all. Reading the book is a really, really good idea.
i dont like his class. we had one good class over the entire semester when we looked at ink blots. all of the notes are on webct which is quite helpful. the tests are really hard. the makeup tests are really bad too. make sure you read the book.
Great teacher. Funny too. Puts slides on webct which is great for studying...explains concepts well and is willing to clarify things out of class on e-mail. MUST READ BOOK since he puts questions on the test that aren't covered on the slides or in his lectures. Recommended.
I usually used his class as like a study hall to catch up on my homework, but he can be quite funny at times. The tests can be tricky and they are heavily rooted in the book. Read the power points and the chapters, you should be fine if u have a good reading comprehension.
he makes you laugh. Seems like a nice professor.
Very clear, and funny, though we spent too much time dealing w/technology gliches w/the clickers and webct but gr8 anyway-I'm learning a lot already!
tests ARE tricky. no doubt about that! if he could just take away some of the applied material that he puts on his tests the class would be one of the most enjoyable. his lectures are enjoyable. has a great sense of humor, although plenty pof people will tend to fall asleep... Just if he could do something about those tricky tests...
Ok, first this class is not easy at all. Mos stuff on the tests is not covered in class and he even let's you know this. if you enjoy memorizing 4 chapters for one test that are about 50 pages each, take this class. If you don't, find a class where what is taught in class is what is on the test.
Really nice guy but makes the test super hard. No study guide for exams and no review. Just says "know everything from book and powerpoints" Asks really small details from book on exams. Tough class but all Psych intro classes are.
This class is okay. I thought it would be interesting but it turned out not to be. Only take this class if you have to or are REALLY interesed in psych. Cohen is a good professor and fun but I guess my class is just too early.
I think he is a pretty good teacher...the tests are mad hard and you definitely have to read the chapters thoroughly, but his lectures are interesting and he's really funny. One word of advice though, do NOT miss a test...the make up exams are INSANE...he just gives you like 25 words and you have to define them...trust me, its HARD
You'll think you couldn't possibly study any more for his exams and then you'll get your grade back and realize his exams are ridiculous! Your grade is based on 4 exams, each covering atleast 120 pages in the book that you have to memorize to get near an A. He's a funny guy, but it's not real funny when you check webct and get your grade.
The tests were difficult. Def read the book and u should be fine. Class was interesting, however he speaks directly off of the powerpoints so it isnt necessary to go. Extra credit is offered at the beginning of every chapter. Go to class for this, it really helps ur grade. Funny man that knows his stuff. I recommend this course.
First off, DO NOT take this class online. It will just make it harder on yourself. Second, READ the book. Most of the exam questions come from material in the book. Some of the material is interesting. Slight curve on the exams. This class is not easy.
ALWAYS study the book for tests and you will do fine.
Class is boring. if u read the book and his notes you'll do fine.
Lectures are interesting and easy to understand, but don't expect that to be on the exams. Ready the book, and don't get behind because you'll never catch up. The exams cover about 3-4 chapters, which is about 100-150 pages. Study vocab and know a couple of examples for exams. Not an easy class.
Tests are based 50% lecture and 50% book, so reading is a must, but very very hard to do if you're an unmotivated reader; I studied/crammed moderately, then A Lot, then not at all...no matter what I did, I always got a C (also as final grade); a lot of people eventually stopped coming to class by the end (about 300 down to 90 - he counted one day)
i was in the same class as the person in the comment below me...he was a good teacher but only cover a small portion of what is on the tests...YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK if you want to get a good grade...he gave out extra credit which helped too and was really easy to do...i ended up with an A no problem...
When I took this class last semester, I had a choice btw him and Dilorenzo, and I chose Cohen. Based on what I heard about Dilorenzo, it was the best choice I made-Just Read the Book!
dont go to class + read book carefully + do online quizzes = get a B. Put some extra effort in and get an A. Not too bad of a class, interesting stuff, but not easy for a 100-level elective either
He's a really nice guy, but his lectures are boring as hell, and overall you learn nothing from him. The tests aren't that hard, but you have to read the book. As a teacher, he's bad, but the class on the whole is okay. Not an easy class, don't take it if you already have a lot of classes. Everyone underestimates the class at first.
Not too bad of a class, interesting material. I stopped going to class after the first exam and it didn't hurt me at all. Just read the book consistently and carefully and you'll do fine. The chapters are long though, so don't put off the reading until the day before the exam like I did. That made the difference between an A and a B for me.
Does require more work than you would think, but not a hard A. Go to class even though it can sometimes get pretty boring, take notes, and especially read the book. Cohen tries to make it interesting with funny examples and stories; he's a good guy and really loves his subject. Def. take over DiLorenzo.
This is not an easy class. There is alot of reading involved because it is introductory psyc. Lectures can be boring but he always gives very good examples and he explains terms very well.
Pretty easy. To get an A you need to read the text rather thoroughly, and it's a lot to read--exams are pretty much from the text book and the online quizzes, which you should also take to help your grade/prepare for exams. Class emphasizes what to focus on from text, but I didn't take any notes and got an A. Read and you'll be fine. Pretty easy A.
read the book and you will get at least a B+; if you don't read the book you won't get above a C-
great prof. and great guy. class is boring because research methods is boring, but he explains dry material as best he can, and is VERY clear. 3 exams, no final, final paper is a joke (took half and hour). listen in class and study for exams and you'll get an A without opening the book.
the exams are from the book. READ!!!
only 4 test factor into grade, no final. this is not a good thing if you are not a test person. read the book and do practice tests from other book.
Class is terrible. Very boring and you will want to fall alseep. The tests are ehh ok...but good luck studying. It is extremely hard unless you have a previous class on the info like in high school.
tests are ok but it takes to much time to read the 40 page chapters and handle a full load of classes.
No need to go to class.....ever. I went to every class before the first exam and then realized how pointless it really was. You must read the textbook and take good notes to study from in order to do well on the exams, if you do that you are guaranteed at least a B. Also use the online quizzes and study guide book to prepare for exams. Not too
Definitely don't need to go to class. Could be a little boring. Just MAKE SURE YOU READ the text book before exams. Also, go to review sessions! No final. Just 4 tests. Really nice guy, funny. I recommend him!
exams are tough becuase he makes tricky answer options and all straight out of textbook. class is useless cause exams are all striaght out of textbook. take smith if you can cause this class sucked
Nice guy, you can tell he really loves the subject. The tests are entirely the textbook so you never have to go to class. There is no final. Tests are tricky but just outline the chapters and do online work. I liked this class and Cohen.
Very nice man, the course was not bad. As everyone else said, in order to do good on exams you must look at the textbook. I usually skimmed through it, taking notes on bold and italic terms (without fully reading) and got a B. Don't get lazy and just study the night before because you will be up quite awhile.
Cohen is the man. He is funny and really nice. Class is a waste. If you memorize each of the chapters you'll get an A. The stuff he covers on his slide shows aren't really the focus of the exams. READ THE BOOK. Really nice guy.
You do not have to go to class tests are out of the book. Kind of a funny guy in class though a mild version of Lewis Black. Hard tests read the book and know names
STAY AWAY!!! He's a good guy, but the tests are impossible. I went to class about 5 times and fell asleep every single class. Take Carrie Smith instead, because she gives extra assignments that counts as a test. Only good thing about this class is there wasn't a final.
Easy class, you just need to read the book, read his notes, and actually spend some time studying. No real need to go to class. Plus, no final!
I took this class online. Easy. Listen to the lectures & read the chapters (questions come from both, mostly the book though). Question: does this prof have a ponytail? It looks like he does in some of the videos, but I can't tell...just wondering!
Honestly, I loved having him teach psych. You do have to put a good amount of work in, but that just means READ THE TEXTBOOK. He's hilarious, could have been a comedian rather than a psych professor. I recommend taking this class with him. Students complained about getting bad grades but that's only because they didn't read the textbook enough.
EXTREMELY BORING teacher. You never need to attend a single class. He speaks directly from the powerpoint which is online. To pass this course you need to read and put into memory the textbook. Which is 40 pages per chapter, 3.5 chapters per test, 4 tests. I do not recommend this teacher, material isnt impossible but he is just boring.
you definitely don't need to attend class but it definitely helps. tests are right out of the chapters so it is important to know them all in depth. Although lectures can be tedious, hes a funny guy. I would definitely recommend him
He was alright. If you are interested in psychology he is a fine professor to take. There are probably better professors than him. He was boring in class and repeated the text book, so I didn't go to class and read the book instead. Study names and understand the concepts and an A is possible. Do the extra credit.
He is definitely a good teacher, and he is very thorough. Although he teaches from the book, attending the lectures really helped me understnad the material. He?s a pretty funny guy and he knows how to teach. The tests are from the book and there are opportunities for extra credit for everyone! Very fair and helpful
Never have to go to class just read the book. KNOW THE BOOK!! Tests are impossible if you haven't memorized the book.
Great class. He explains things really well if you attend class. Have to read the book, test questions come right from book. His reviews sessions about what is on the test are great he tells you basically what is going to be on tests. exams are very fair
just memorize in long masses periods of time before the exams. i suggest a week before the exam read all the chapters and then read them all over agian pretty time consuming. but if you do it my way you will forget everything you learn within a week so you can use it for more important stuff like math or chem
AVOID THIS TEACHER UNLESS YOU LOVE TO READ!!! Do not have to ever attend class, except to take the exam. HE LOVES his book and you need to memorize it IN AND OUT or else you will do poorly on the exam. EACH chapter is aprox. 40 pages with 3.5 chapters @ exam. Take this class ONLY if you have a INSANE memory
the professor assigned for this class might as well be the textbook Class is useless just read the book and ull do fine
You don't need to attend class, you have to read the textbook and re-read everything because the questions are very specific. Not an easy A
read read read every chapter. Know the vocab words and only go to class if you don't get something otherwise its a total waste of time. Exams aren't bad do the extra credit and it's not a hard A. He's helpful if you go for extra help.
He does a lot of talking about things that aren't really that important. If you want an A you should attend every class, but you can pass by reading his slides and really reading the book.
This class is so hard, I didn't attend many classes since his slides barely related to the material. So mch reading, that you have to read pretty much the entire book throughout the semester, requires countless amounts of studying, not the best class I've taken.
RUN!!! Whatever you do, do not take his class... tests are impossible. Not an easy A at all.
Some of the questions come straight from the book, and others come straight from his notes as well. Attending his lectures help, but don't get upset if you miss a class. The material and his exams aren't hard at all, and he also offers extra credit!
no projects just 4 tests and an extra credit paper. you can pull off at least a C by studying night before. lectures weren't necessary to go to bc he followed the power points pretty closely which are available online.
Very good teacher and very helpful both in and out of class.
I took the online section over the summer. His lectures are very clear and he makes concepts easy to understand. Only downside was the actual exams themselves - all essays. With so much information to take in at once it made studying the right material difficult. BUT, if you contact him/go to his office hours he's an amazing help.
Took this course online over the summer... if you watched the online lectures and outlined the textbook chapters theres no way you will not do well. Very helpful! Take him! Oh and also he has quite the selection of sweaters :)
I took honors section of this class and it was overall an okay class. Reading the textbook was necessary for tests but that should get you a decent grade. Overall a pretty easy class.
Cohen is awesome. He is a really great professor and is always willing to help you out if you don't get something. Some of his material on his exams isn't covered in class, so you need to read the book, but he tells you that and is very fair with grading. Overall, great professor.
Very tough class, but I learned a lot. As long as you read and aren't afraid to ask for his help, you'll do fine. I got a lot out of it, even though I just needed the Group C credit.
I took this class online over the summer, and it is easily the worst class I have ever taken at UD. The text book was incredibly boring and failed to adequately explain the material. Further, the tests, none of which Cohen created himself, included material that I was not told would be on them. I would thoroughly NOT recommend this class
HONORS: It is really important to attend class and agressively know the textbook to do well on tests. Your is made of 4 noncumulative tests and 2 short papers. Cohen is very nice and makes the lectures interactive. I recommend him.
Great professor! You can tell he has been doing this for a while. All of the classes were well organized with all ppt's available on sakai. Multiple choice tests, not too hard. Just do the reading and ask questions. Easy B/A class
He is not too hard and you don't have to attend class. But, you definitely have to read all of the chapters for the test because many of the questions on the test are in the book and are not mentioned in class. There is an book that outlines every chapter which is really helpful. He offers one extra credit assignment.
Cohen's powerpoint slides do not make sense, and he doesn't teach what is going to be on the test. The subject is easy, but he sucks at preparing you for exams. I would recommend taking someone else.
Lectures are right off his powerpoints, which are all on Sakai so class attendance isn't necessary. There's 4 multiple choice exams in total but not all the exam material is covered in his powerpoints. The exams weren't easy but they weren't horrible as long as you read the chapters and knew what was on his slides.
Great guy, good speaker and not hard to listen to or understand. The thing is that class is pointless because you can read it right off his powerpoints and class is USELESS, because the tests have nothing to do with class. If you don't read the textbook chapters at least twice you won't do well at ALL on tests. NO test questions are from class
One of the better profs i've had.I printed the lectures off sakai and brought them to class to take notes on. You have to read the textbook to do well on the exam, but it's an easy read. Really straight forward book. Mostly definitions on exams.6 test points extra credit, can't complain. He's chill.
Whoever said the test questions have nothing to do with lectures is WRONG and clearly didn't go to class. It is only 2-5 questions out of 65 per exam, but that could make or break you. Easy to pay attention to. The textbook is definitely a necessity. Your grade comes strictly from the four exams (none are cumulative) and 6 points extra credit.
I love Cohen because he is so straight forward. He seriously from day one said know the text book and you'll be fine. This class is a ton of reading but if you outline the chapters and go over it, it's totally do-able. Don't buy the book study guide though because they questions in there aren't the ones on the test.
Tough grader. Too biased towards Zionism and that can get boring.
