Dr. Hobbie is amazing. I learned so much from him. He cares about his students and is always there if you need extra help on something.

Hobbie is the man! class is hard, he is very demanding, but you will walk out learning so much and really appreciating the subject and professors like himself...simply a must for those who are interested in the subject!

Dr. Hobbie is by far the greatest biology professor and one of the best geneticists out there. He is an inspiration to all his students and anyone who is lucky to get to know him. He is a great mentor and makes you want to do well to make him proud. There is no other professor like Dr. Hobbie.

One of the most demanding professors you will ever have, but one of the best. He is organized and knows his stuff. If you are a serious bio student, don't leave AU without taking him.

He is just the best in Adelphi. He knows what he is teaching and is very good at making you understand. You work a lot, but it pays off in the end. After you have had him and understood him, every other professor is just not good enough.

Great professor...he really cares about student understanding...will help in any way possible...makes himself available for his students...he even learns everyones names by the second class...he gives a lot of work...but its not hard or impossible to do.

Unlike what the two last posters claimed, I thought Dr. Hobbie is among the best professors on campus. I earned an A in genetics but I worked extremely hard. His class is alot of work but in the end, you'll know genetics really well! If you have an intention of going to medical school, this class is helpful for the MCAT.

Helped me get into Med school. and is one of the best professors I have ever had. HE allowed his students to do REAL, publishable, laboratory experiments in genetics. What other professor would tolerate 40 clumsy undergrads bumbling around his personal research lab?

Probably one of the best professors I have ever met. Extremely intelligent. Expects 100%. Doesn't tolerate people who aren't serious. Excellent judge of character. Can be tough. Is willing to give people a second shot if they deserve it. A good man. Incredible researcher.

Definitely one of the harder professors but if you do your work, and attend recitation the class isn't hard. Lectures are semi-boring but depends on interest level. He is also extremely willing to help and put in extra time to make sure you understand information. Grades very fairly. One of my favorite professors ever.

I had Dr. Hobbie in 1995, He was extremely helpful. completely dedicated to his profession. He was really good and I think he is one of the best teachers I have ever met.

Dr. Hobbie isn't an easy A, but he is such a fair and welcoming professor. His class is a lot of work and studying, but you will be fine if you show him you're working hard put in lots of effort!

His class is great! His lectures are interactive, he records them and posts them on moodle, along with his notes, powerpoints, and class prep worksheets, the most helpful and friendly teacher by far!

Great teacher! He is really interested in the material and really knows what he's talking about. His tests are hard and he requires a lot of time, but he gives review sheets and he has review sessions. He posts notes from class online and records the lectures and puts those online too. Such a friendly guy and so helpful!

The smartest, sweetest, most amazing professor I've had yet. He really cares about his students, and he's such a great person. If you actually do the homework, study and listen to him in class, you'll do fine. Enjoy the time you have in his class, with one of the few remaining helpful and knowledgable teachers!

Dr. Hobbie was extremely nice and helpful. He's one of the best teachers in he biology department and I would definitely recommend him if you want to learn. His tests are hard though this is definitely not a class you can bs, there's a fair amount of homework and his tests are pretty hard.

Great professor. He's extremely helpful and will do his best to make you do good in his class. His lectures are very informative and extremely clear. Also, he has podcasts and review sheets to help you prepare yourself for tests. The material is slightly challenging so you will need to put in some effort and study. Overall, one of my favorites.

Hobbie is the kind of professor you want to take for a hard class. He is always willing to give extra help and even extra review sessions! if you have the opportunity defiantly take him. he does give homework and checks it every so often but it keeps you up to date on new material. I would take him again if i had the chance.

I took Professor Hobbie this semester. Such a great teacher! He explains the material so well and clearly states what will be on the exam. Pay attention, review the class preps, look at the slides and youll get an A. Definitely a little more challenging than the other professors but if you study, youll leave his class feeling like a Bio pro.

Professor Hobbie is one of the most genuine teachers I have ever had. His class was my first class at college and he made the transition quite easy. He makes sure that you understand topics thoroughly and makes sure that you are on top of everything. He gives class preps to do for homework which is super helpful and keeps you in track. 10/10

Profesor Hobbie is probably the best profesor Ive had. He truly cares and has a passion for what he is teaching and his students. There are absolutely no surprises on his test and gives you all the tools necessary to pass! Definitely recommend.

This professor really cares about his students and genuinely wants them to pass. He prints out pictures of the powerpoints, records himself teaching for students later on, and is very clear about the importance of asking questions. Also very approachable

He records himself in the lectures, he gives homework so you can be prepared for the class, he has review classes for tests and hes very accessible outside of class time if you ever need him. He really cares but you also have to your own put effort in because he wont just carry you to an A.

This man is probably the best professor ive ever had. He gives test corrections , is easy to reach outside of class and eager to help you learn. there is worksheets as class preps but they really do help you understand better. 10/10

His tests are hard though, you really need to study for them but he gives review sheets. Do the class prep before every class if you can, it helps boost your grade and he collects it randomly.

Dr. Hobbie will probably be one of the best professors I will have at Adelphi. He's so passionate and is willing to help you with anything. Everything on the tests was well reflected from class notes. I would definitely take him again if I have the chance, so please don't hesitate to take his classes!

I took genetics online, so in person might vary. He tried his best to accommodate to the situation he was put in. Theres weekly pre-class assignments and an exam every 2 weeks. He explains everything very well, drops lowest quiz and exam grade, and understands any problems people have. Dr. Hobbie is one of the few who cares about his students 10/10

I took Dr Hobbie for genetics and he was great. He really cares about how his students are doing, and he adjusts his lessons or gives more review based on student feedback. He makes it clear what is expected of you and teaches in a way that's easy to follow. He grades fairly and sometimes offers test corrections. I learned so much! Take him!

Hobbie is a great professor. He breaks material up well in his lectures, but sometimes it can be a bit heavy. Workload is not bad, you just have to get it done. He gives weekly online quizzes but you can take them as many times as you want throughout the week. His tests are straightforward but you have to be detailed in your answers for full credit

Professor Hobbie was the best professor that I had this semester. His lectures are very clear and they are always uploaded to Moodle. He gives an online exam every other Friday, but if you are unable to take it that day, you can ask to take it a different day. He also gives retakeable online quizzes. Professor Hobbie honestly wants to see his students succeed. I have also taken him for Bio 1 and its the same type of layout for genetics with 7 exams, multiple quizzes, and class preps that needs to be completed prior to the class. However, the quizzes are there to help for the exams, and you have multiple attempts. He drops the lowest exam too!

Very nice and good professor. A little boring and you have to teach yourself most of the material. He expects you to read the chapters and sections of textbook before getting to class. His lecture slides are just clips from the textbook. All tests and weekly quizzes were online except for the final exam that was in person. Just read the textbook.

Very good professor. He eats up and never leaves any crumbs. He really wants to see his students slay and eat up. He is willing to explain everything multiple times. The man has a lot of patience.

Best professor. Really nice, barely hw, does review sessions before exams, answers emails and any questions. you work in groups but don't really need to talk to each other. He gives out clickers so everyone participates you don't need to speak. If your absent he records the lecture and posts it. Exams are just like his lectures. Would 100% retake.

Genuinely good professor, really knows what hes teaching and is passionate about the topic. Some lectures might feel long but theres a lot of help given before tests, which are online/take home.

One of the greatest educators I've ever gotten to witness will give you everything you need to succeed in his class, has 7 test which may seem insane at first but it helps the content you need to know short instead of carrying a lot of content on 3 exams, very nice and understanding as well if you need to take an exam at a later date.

The professor used an online website for readings, homework, quizzes, and study guides. The tests were given online with a camera watching you. Very caring and understanding professor. He will give you extensions if you just ask in advance.

Great Professor, Lots of work

You really REALLY need to know your stuff doing into this class because so much of it is activities. I was lost the first few weeks before I had to study and do the readings ahead of time and then things went better. The group work was good especially switching groups. Would take again

This class was definitely pretty difficult. Required a lot of reading and being able to interpret some very challenging topics. But Dr. Hobbie made the class so doable and very fair. He gives great feedback and is so helpful. He grades very fair as well. Would definitely recommend taking a hard class like this with him.

hard course, which is expected but too much information needed to know for his exams. His exams are tough, and he is demanding when it comes to written responses, so you must know everything. Too much homework. Kind man, but based on the way I learn, I would not take him again. (gives great feedback so he does very much care about his students)

I took Dr. Hobbie multiple times. His biology and genetics class are test heavy. If you study you should be able to pass. He always has homework and he is always available outside of class for help. For capstone he was super lenient, but there was more expected. He was not quiz heavy but there was a big paper due and 2 very long presentations.

Protect this man at all costs, it's rare for a professor to make students feel welcome on the first day. His class felt like a safe space and I enjoy what I'm learning in the process. He's really understanding with late work and will try to meet you halfway with any other obligations. I wish I could take him for Bio 2, I miss my gruncle Hobbie.

Professor Hobbie is an AMAZING Biology professor. His lectures are easy to follow, and he genuinely cares about his students. The codon homework assignments can be a lot, and tests are cumulative and taken every two weeks (majority online) but overall, he's great for bio. He offers extra credit after every exam (40% points back) if you go to CASE.

Professor Hobbie made learning biology easy. At the beginning of almost every class we did review of the material from the previous class. He also gives extra credit after each test, and drops your lowest test grade as well.
