Teacher is thoroughly knowledgeable about what he teaches. He was fairly unstumpable about some of the cloudier issues of English. Good class leadership from such a short unassuming guy.

Take this class if you really want a good foundation to writing college papers. He has excellent classroom management skills and packs a lot of learning into 60 minutes. He is very intelligent and full of interesting anecdotal asides. You won't want to miss a single class, but if you do...he is very flexible. This is an awesome instructor!

VERY SINCERE AND IS WILLING TO HELP YOUR GRADE OUT IN MANY WAYS. EXTRA CREDIT IS GIVEN SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. AS LONG AS YOUR ATTEND CLASS AND DO THE WORK, ITS AN EASY A.

Expect to have hours of homework every week! You will learn quite a bit in this class, but be prepared to write MANY papers!

Overall he was a pretty good teacher. He was boring during class though. I took his angel hybrid class and dreaded his lectures in the classroom. He is picky when he grades but was pretty leniant.

Great Professor. I would recommend him to anybody. Plus, he wrote me a great recommendation letter. Overall, I enjoyed his class-room mannerisms... he is eccentric and quirky, and makes crazy gestures with his eyes. Very cool teacher though!

he is not evil. he does grade tough but fair at the same time. you can tell he wants us to do well and is just trying to help. kinda goofy and funny, is understanding that life happens and makes it so everyone does good. hes realistic, lots of reading but thats what the class is supposed to be anyways.

Mr. White is a fabulous teacher. He is extremely witty and very engaging. I've always excelled in English so I did not personally find the course to be that difficult but I did notice that some of my peers struggled. Mr. White is very fair in the way he grades and it is obvious that he wants his students to succeed. Great class.

He rules! Writing styles he teaches work in all classes where writing is necessary. I have gotten A's in all my ECON/ CJ 400 level classes using the writing styles I learned from Mr. White.

This professor is very kind and forgiving. I took him twice and both times received A's for what I considered minimal effort in a college level class. Some of these negative comments I read here regarding Mr. White can come from only the environment which he chooses to teach i.e. Tacoma, Washington. Great professor, extremely respectful. A+ Grade.

Mr. White is an amazing teacher! He is very lenient on late work and he is one of the best english teachers I had. You'll never go wrong with him.

Mr. White is AMAZING! My favorite teacher I've ever had! He is very chill and laid back, but you will want to do the work. He grades easily and will help you out if you ask for it. I had a lot of fun in his class and wish I could go back! You won't regret taking his class!

Great instructor, the only thing was this was his first online class&he was not prepared. He would make assignments due for that day. He was not all too clear on what he wanted. Hard to write a paper when he gives little instruction on the content he wants. I wanted more insight on lit not writing papers. He was helpful&made good discussions.

Nice and very knowledgeable professor. However, beware he grades on a double standard. The argument being every paper MUST show marked and progressive improvement. Although my culmulative points added up to an A (as per the syllabus) my final grade was B+ :(

I loved this class! It was a great beginner to college level writing. I really enjoyed his lectures and he plays jazz music during class. Would recommend him!

I absolutely loved my english 1o1 class. It was probably one of my favorites I've taken at TCC. Mr. White is a great professor. You won't be disappointed. He isn't too tough of a grader but he's specific with what he wants and grades more if he sees an improvement on your work!

White is personable and funny and I enjoyed going to class every day. There's only 3 papers to write for the whole quarter and he is very specific in his feedback so it's easy to get As. Also gives a ton of extra credit and points for attendance. Don't skip class because he learns every ones name in the first week and notices who doesn't come.

Professor White was pretty cool. He has some jazz music in the background all the time and he is cool guy with some humor. The essays (80% of final grade) were not too hard to do, but if you don't do well on even one, you're doomed. We read stories and poems and English stuffs and wrote essays. Just like any other English class.

Super nice & funny. In English 103 we only wrote 4 papers and your grade is based mostly on effort!

BEST TEACHER EVER. Always plays music in the background. Only 4 paragraphs in the entire class. 2 papers total. Grades really easy. All you have to do is try your best

Mr. White is an excellent English teacher! I really enjoyed his English 101 class last quarter. We only had to write 2 papers and other small assignments. His class was fun and inspirational.

BEST TEACHER EVER. My favorite teacher. Easy grader, gives good feedback, has a sense of humor. He sometimes lets us play Kahoot which is fun. He understands students' struggles so he's very lenient. Would definitely recommend.

Great professor! Very laid back and chill. He always provided a fun way to study and do homework. Uses KAHOOT for studying. After taking Mr. White's class, my writing skills have improved a lot. Assigns easy readings throughout quarter. Very nice person. Makes jokes and uses personal stories to teach new lessons. Best Professor ever!

Really cool guy. Only has two major essays the entire quarter. He plays jazz music in the background each day and gives really good feedback on essays. He also takes late work for 100% credit, you just might not get as good feedback from him, though.

In class time is mostly lectures, but he is a fun teacher and very understanding. Is very knowledgeable and gives a lot of background info about topics being taught/read. Papers are easy, gives you time to edit them before turning them in. Is good with feedback on drafts and assignments. Quizzes after every reading. Is easy to talk to as a person.

I really enjoyed being in Mr. Whites English 101 class. I highly recommend taking Mr. Whits class. He is a great teacher and really helps you become a better writer. Love that soft background music he plays during class.

He is awesome and have his own sense of humor. I can see his passion in teaching English. He does take attendance, how ever it won't be that affected to the total grade. However, I enjoyed coming to class for the lecture. I had him both for Engl101 and 103. 103 was a hard class, but he made think so much interesting and easier for students.

Professor White is very enthusiastic about literature and likes to tell little anecdotes. Papers are always based off texts within the textbook and he will always give you edits on drafts. Very entertaining to listen to. He's also understanding of others and has loose deadlines.

Professor White is such a nice man! He's very enthusiast to literature and he's definitely forgiving. Deadlines on papers doesn't really matter to him but you will need your paper on time for peer reviews. Overall, I would definitely take him again. I definitely recommend White if you need a stress free class.

Professor White is very organized and prepared. He does an excellent job of teaching the fundamental requirements necessary to succeed in writing excellent papers. Lots of nitty gritty grammar but also allows lots of time and space for creative writing. I truly enjoyed his class and would take another just for fun.

Such a great professor. Out of my two years at TCC, Lawrence White is by far my favorite professor. His class has really helped me become a better writer. Throughout my whole academic career, Lawrence White was the first teacher who was able to make an English class enjoyable for me.

Lawrence White is by far the best professor I have taken in two years at TCC. A very nice guy who gives good feedback on essays, Mr. White has a great teaching method that helps students become better writers. He teaches about some very interesting writers and gives students a super helpful MLA format walk through. Would highly recommend.

Mr. White gives everyone an opportunity in his class to do well. He gives many resources and is a big resource himself. He does not intimidate his students, he wants them to learn and grow and be the best that they can be. Really supportive. Also really funny!!

He is a very easy teacher to take. There are 4 papers that aren't that long (the longest one was 4 pages). He gives really good feedback and there aren't any late penalties on essays, so you can turn them in past the due date and still get full credit. The class is a very good, comfortable atmosphere.

It is easy to see why professor White is so well liked. He is kind, laid back, and easy going. He is a tiny bit disorganized and his late policy (which does not exist) is a little questionable but he still manages to teach well despite these flaws. An easy and enjoyable class, largely because it is evident he loves teaching it so much.

He's very laid back and doesn't grade harshly. If you have any problems with assignments, due dates, etc. you'll have no issue trying to talk to him, he's very understanding. He also had many make-up opportunities for any assignments at the end of the quarter except for essays. There were a few quizzes on the readings, no final or midterm.

One of my favorite professors at TCC so far! His class is fairly easy, do the work and he is very lenient. If you havent taken his class you should!

I took his 8 week English 101 class over the summer and he was a phenomenal professor. Very accessible outside of class to discuss work and papers/essays. His feedback on papers is also really good and I believe he has helped me become a better writer. His music is also good as it's not too distracting and he has good taste.

Super nice, has a tendency to go on long tangents about material but I still thought it was interesting. I liked the papers he had the class write and he gives really good feedback and makes you feel really prepared for the essays.

Larry White is the man! Ive taken two of his classes and loved both of them. He is not out to get you, he wants you to actually learn. Hes helped me so much with my writing. If there were more like him education would be a better place.

Mr. White is my favorite professor that I took this quarter! I'm even taking him next quarter for Eng103. He really cares about his students and makes sure that everybody understands what he is teaching. He gave out lots of extra credit and even played kahoot sometimes. Take his class!! You won't regret it.

Mr. White is an attentive and approachable professor who has a talent for explaining complex concepts in a concise, digestible manner. He also just seems like a great cultured guy. That being said, Mr. White does grade papers somewhat harshly. However, he gives stellar feedback on drafts and dedicates in-class time to review/revision.

You can definitely tell that Dr. White is very passionate and loves what he teaches! I took his themed ENGL 103 section. Some of the topics were a bit random, however, his lectures are very interesting. There was one time that he was late on grading papers and he brought donuts to class as an apology gift, so obviously, he's a good professor! :)

Mr. White is a caring & thoughtful teacher. He always makes sure that we understand the lectures and do many in class examples to help us learn how to use the new subject. He also offers TONS of extra credit opportunities. For example, if you do a quiz the day before it is due, you get an extra credit point. He's my favorite English teacher by far

Great professor. He gives a detail feedback on your draft to help you fix it for a better final paper. Give a lot of extra credits to save your grade.

Professor White is an amazing professor. He cares deeply about his students and obviously has a love for his work. With jazz music played regularly in the background and kahoot games a norm, you're sure to have a blast in this class. If you ever have any questions for him, just send him a quick email and he's sure to respond in a timely manner.

I took Mr. White's class my first quarter at TCC and he's been my favorite professor so far. I've always done well in English, but with his great feedback I definitely saw improvement. He's a very easygoing guy and I found his lectures very entertaining, but he does go on tangents that might bore some students. Overall great class, learned a ton.

This was his first time teaching philosophy and it was a great class! Since this quarter was online we had zoom meetings. He is very caring about his students and asks you what you need from him to exceed. We had several papers in this class and I believe taking English with him would be just as great! Definitely take this class!

Very clear about expectations. No tests, just very short quizzes. Lot's of extra credit, easily approachable and very funny. His class was my favorite par of winter quarter!

GREAT TEACHER! He was always available, and responded very quickly. You can tell he really cares about doing his job well. He grades thoroughly even if it takes longer. I consider him to be in the upper echelon of people in his position. I honestly think other teachers should follow his lead. His expectations are laid out clear, as well.

He is such a good teacher!! Super easy and i would take his classes over and over again. his grading is simple if you turn it in before due date extra credit, late there is no penalty. Take his class!!

Ultimately he made me a much better writer and the assignments are pretty easy. Hes the type of professor that doesn't know how to be mean. Really good guy. He grades fairly easy and A LOT of extra credit available. I had an 184% in the beginning as a cushion for papers and stuff. Yous should take this class.

I had literally so much fun in his class (ENGL&103), it's like a regular English class but at a deeper level. If you love philosophy and thinking in general, you will like this class. No late penalties, extra credit point for work turned in on time. Would definitely take this class again.

Mr. White is super down-to-earth and excited to teach! His lectures are very interesting and incorporate fun philosophical concepts. He has a super great taste in music and has tons of great stories to tell. There are no late penalties and you get extra credit for anything turned in on time. Great guy and a great class!

Mr. White is a great professor, he cares about his students, and has great communication. I would definitely take his class again, he's amazing!!! He was super helpful when it came to the writing assignments and I'm very thankful to have a professor like him. Take his class, you won't regret it.

Professor White is incredibly easy going and willing to meet students where they are. His course was an OER and had high quality recordings and/or readings available for each unit. His large assignments are very straight forward, and you can tell he genuinely wants students to succeed. Late work is accepted with little to no penalty. Some busy work

Simple assignments and quizzes nothing crazy. This class only had 2 big papers. He is super understanding and accepts late work! Grades easy as long as you show up to class and participate. He also offers extra credit daily throughout the quarter! Great professor and would recommend his in person lectures!

Mr. White really cares about student success as long as you show up and show him you care. His assignments were all well put together and fairly graded. Though he does take a while to grade things, so if that's something that bothers you I wouldn't take his class. Otherwise I think he was a great prof.

Very kind teacher and the class is very easy to understand. You do have to pay attention a little bit to understand the lectures and materials, but even so, it's a very easy class. To add onto that, there is no late penalty for assignments, which can be bad if you don't pay attention. Overall, if you pay attention, the class is a breeze.

Professor White is so awesome. One of the best professors I have had. I had a little bit of a complicated situation this quarter and he was SO kind and welcoming. I found his lectures very interesting and he is so nice. He is a chill grader and assignments are fun! 10/10 would recommend. He's truly great. Funny too

Professor White was absolutely amazing. He helped me learn ENG 101 clearly, even though my weakest subject was English. He is a funny guy and has amazing examples of assignments / work and the attendance wasn't mandatory. He also has great modules he posts online which can help if you miss a class. 10/10 would take again. The goat!!!

A really nice and funny guy, I really recommend his class. He cares a lot about what he's doing and is super engaging in class. He is a bit of a late grader, but there is no late policy so that's a plus.

such an awesome and kind professor. he truly cares abt his students and is only focused on making you a better writer. he isn't a harsh grader and doesn't assign too much work. i would highly recommend him if you struggle with english cause he'll give you all the tips you need without giving you a bad grade.

Lawrence White is both caring and passionate about what he teaches. He is not a tough grader and gives extra credit for each assignment submitted on time (all assignments are open the entire quarter). He makes learning interesting, and you don't worry about your grade. Instead, you get to enjoy his personality and get a credit along the way.

English 101 there was room for extra credit, he was helpful & simple, really wants people to pass. Workload wasn't too crazy, just don't fall behind!

He's fun, not give too much homework, and respectful. 1 week only 2 assignments, you just need to find sources and write your response, easy peasy, just need to take time. You can submit late work from the beginning of the quarter until the end of the quarter, only 10% reduction, no matter how late it is!! Perfect for procrastinators ^^
