If you study hard, you will do okay. Be on his good side. He is the symbol of analism. There is only 1 way to do things in his class. He makes himself hard to approach for questions. Course was interesting, but he really needs to lighten up. Too Anal
This guy is an ****. Has serious anal issues he needs to deal with. If you want to learn anything about consumer behaviour, dont take him. He does not teach the course but has class discussions about bull all day.
He was a very good instructor, not for the immature, related very well and he really made you think, which is not so easy for some...
he's such a nice guy overall, he's lectures are very interesting. his assignments prepare you for the real world, and really make you think. be prepared for lots of work and tough tests...there's more than 1 right answer (you have to pick the BEST one).
Anal is the perfect word.unforgiving.Dont get on bad side by challegeing him cause then your life is hell.Your book makes a fine door stop,read the paper instead to talk about war and current events.never admits fault. american/canadian comments annoying
He is honestly a really nice guy and cares about his students and their futures. But DON'T GET ON HIS BAD SIDE!!!! Work hard and you'll do fine. He seems to be harder on the people he likes too.....

Sure he is Anal, but following guide lines is an easy way to please him. His test come right from the text (which he won't teach from) and memorizing definitions is all you do to prep for any exam/quiz. He's straight forward. I like him.
If you are a lazy student don't take this class. Those who are claim that he is hard, but he is not.

Le Roi should not be in front of a class. He is a very intelligent person, however is it wasted as he has no ability to transfer that knowledge to a class. Questions are only side stepped and never answered. You should waste your time or effort on him.

Waste of time. You will walk away frome this class more confused then when you entered. He has a format for all of his classes: Talk about the news for an hour, watch some unrelated video for another, and then "group time" aka his time to leave.

This teacher is brutal.. He picks on alot of students and wants everyone to do bad.. If your assignment is 1 sec late its zero.. absolutely no excuses or if your sick zero too. this teacher is full of it if you know what im sayin
He wants mature students who can read a text book all by themselves. If you are fresh out of high school he'll blow you away... unless you have surpassed your fellow grads and grew up and acted like the adult you should be. AWESOME GUY!!

What hell is wrong with this teacher. He doesn't teach very much in the class. And he need to change his percentage on final mark of the task. He is very unreasonable and does not know how to teach. He thinks he is very good, but not really.
If you are expecting to be spoon fed and coddled, don't take this course. He has alot of insight and knowledge. This is a 4th year course and you are expected to perform at that level. It is not highscool. It is alot of work and you have to read.
Whom ever entered this prof into this data base should refer to the spelling of his name. (this would probably indiciate their maturity level) It is Le Roi Smith. He is a 4th level professor and leaves the onus on the students to perform. It is not grade school. No coddling or babysitting here.
He has high expectations for university students. This is not grade school. He is very knowledgable and you are required to work on your own accord with the text. He provides insight and depth to class topics. I am a girl and he did not make me cry. Needy or overly sensitive students refrain.

Horrible. Derogatory, rude, unhelpful. Not just a bad prof, but also an unfriendly, bitter, arrogant cuss of a man. I would NOT under any circumstances take him again, even though I recieved a 95% grade from him. Simply an **** in every sense of the word.
good class, great teacher. always keeps you interested & on your toes. likes to pick on ppl so get on his good side! extremely hard quizzes & tests are 75% so if you aren't good at tests, i'd take a different teacher. i almost failed his class, but i'm glad i took him b/c he makes the class fun!

The worst experience I've had at Kwantlen.
Le Roi is the most arrogant teachers I have ever had. He thinks his opinion is the only opinion. If you decide to speak in class, there is a high chance he will humiliate you. He yells at people for no reason. This teacher is an ass and I will never take him again.

This prof is horrible, very condecending, marks incredible hard and has obvious favorites. Show videos that are from phyc class not marketing, doest cover the material...only take with him if you have no other option...WOULD NOT RECCONMEND... i am an A student and i had to drop out of his class because i was getting less than 50%! STAY CLEAR!
I love this teacher! He is super smart and wants you to do well... that is why he makes you study. His teaching style is different, you don't have a final exam, just a final project, but he marks hard. Overall I would reccommend him and I will take his class again!
All of the negative comments posted here are VERY TRUE! It's not about the mark i got, it was his style of teaching, his arrogance and lack of empathy that made this one of the worst teachers i've ever had. I learned NOTHING from him!

Omg this proff terrified me to my soul. The entire class was afraid to go to class. He teaches by intimidation, if you don't know your stuff be prepared to be made a fool of in front of everyone. This proff is definately a challenge. Extremely hard marker, with a heavy course load each week. Does have a nice flair tho.
He may not be the kindest teacher you've had, but he's interesting and fair if you respect him and his classes. He's got lot's of experience that's very helpful in the future.

He was a great facilitator. He expected everyone to be AWAKE and READY at class discussions, which is important for an effective learning process. Has a bit of mood swing though, but that's okay. Afterall, we are all human.

Mr. Le Roi Smith uses his figure of authority to intimidate female students. He touches them inappropiately and gets in their personal space. He is mean, vindictive, and can't keep his hands out of his pants when he laughs. His class is a waste of time and money; his teaching is limited to videos and group presentations. AVOID THIS CLASS!!

i agree that he is an a$$, however, i ended up with an A-. how i got that was not from studying my butt off, but doing the assignments and asking him how he preferred it. i got 70% on the midterm and still got an A- . dont let his ego get to you.
Do not take his class!! He even told our class how to avoid taking him again. I saw him yell at countless students throughout the term and his tests are all multiple choice marked through a scanner. He is lazy, arrogant and lacks passion for teaching. I wish I had looked at all his bad review before taking in his class.

I loved taking Le Roi! He has high expectations for his students. I learned so much in his class. If you do not want to work hard and actually think during class, then I recommend not taking him. As well, if you are easily hurt by a little sarcasm I would avoid any of his classes.
He is rude, pompus, and a total jerk and I can not understand how people let this man teach. He enjoys students failing. Kwantlen does teacher reviews, so why is he still teaching? DO NOT WAISTE YOUR MONEY, its one big joke!

What a jerk! When I went to discuss my mark on my midterm, he asked me if I had a learning disability! I'm not complaining because I got a low mark; I got an A-. We never used the text, and most classes were spent watching bad movies. Said he used to work at Harvard - as what, a janitor? Take this class and a part of you will die!

talks like Samuel L. Jackson, his tests are impossible (literally only 4 people passed our final exam) he expects you to read everything 3 times and memorize the book. Very specific and demanding with assignments, absolutely no sympathy with anyone!

At first I was very worried. The first day he came off as all the bad things everyone else has been saying, however, if you're not a complete idiot and know how to joke around, he'll joke around with you. It was funny watching him totally chew-out the dumber kids. You know those students that have to answer EVERY question? He'd burn them well.
He's interesting and clearly very intelligent but either he loves you or hates you. If you say something stupid and end up on his bad side he will rip everything you say for the rest of the semester, even though you're expected to participate. Explains assignments only once, you are expected to KNOW it. He's tough. Only uses text up until midterm.
Make sure to listen to his instructions on assignments. He doesnt like to repeat himself and if you ask for clarification he most likely yell and criticize you. 10% is on participation but make sure you can support your ideas because him being open minded is out of the question. Quizzes/Exams are multiple choice straight from the book. Memorize it!
Dont ask him questions about things he has already talked about. He is a smart American (they are hard to find) with his smart remarks he make Canadians sound stupid. His exam is tough, 1 person passed. I heard this year he cancelled 5 classes on top of the scheduled canceled classes.
Le Roi is the best teacher I ever had. If you just do what he says, and be in class on time he will love you. Yes he is strict, but he is only trying to teach you some discipline because that is what the "real" world is like and he wants you to be prepared. He is the best teacher I ever had and I learned alot.

I do like his teaching style, a variety in class. I found his mid-term unfair, class average was 73%. I also did not like how had particpation worth 10% of our mark. He also mentioned that nobody gets an "A" in participation. I got 65% and was quite involved in class, the person beside me didn't say one word the entire semester and got 63%.
I heard a lot of bad things before I went into this class. And it turns out he really picks his favourites. He really loves you or he doesn't... Make sure to read your text book and do the assignments and you are fine. Watch out for his temper. If he hates you, don't talk
Class description: He's "ill" 3-4 days, even the last class. Of the few days there is even a class, first 30 minutes talk about whats in the news, then watch a movie. Its a 3 hour class but 50% of the class leaves in 1 hour. I learned NOTHING from this class. Complete waste of time. Thinking of complaining to the school.

Yes, he is very much by the textbook for all his tests/quizzes/exams, however if you remember all the textbook examples then you can apply them to the testing. He is very fair while marketing assignments and projects, but hand them in at the start of class ALWAYS. Grammar is not a necessity, but helps for understanding.

He's a fun prof. He has his own opinions and way of doing things. It's an easy class - you just need to read the textbook. He basically says class time is to give a real world perspective. You either get him or you don't - but I like him. He's a bit of a smart-mouth but that's what makes him fun, unless you don't like being picked on.
Le Roi is great and makes class entertaining. Yes he doesn't cover a lot of the course material in class, so you will have to spend your own time reading the text book. Both quizes and midterm are straight out of the book. No final. I would take him again for sure. He has his opinions and will single people out but its all in good fun.

If you want to have an enjoyable/interesting semester, avoid this teacher at all costs! He's also a major creeper on the females, it's seriously disgusting. Kwantlen should ban this guy from teaching.

Worst experience I've had with a professor.
My experience with Le Roi was amazing. Was tough on us, but he also inspired us to be greater. Le Roi also was amazing to me He taught me some life lessons, when I was struggling with life. I will always remember his kindness and words of wisdom he shared with me. He made a difference in my life when needed. Thank you, Le Roi!
