Great prof! No homework except to write speeches (only 4). Lots of in class discussions about current events. Helpful and very clear on what she expects. Not very strickt on tardies. If she sees you are genuinly trying you will be fine in her class! Fun!

she is really nice and easy to talk to and understand very friendly really tries to make you feel as comfotable as possible. i really enjoyed her class and learned alot!!!!!

She's really hilarious, and will tell you exactly what you are doing wrong as long as you don't slack off too much in the class and do the preps for all the speachs anyone will do fine.

She is such a sweetheart!! :) She makes her class fun but knows when to be serious to help you learn. I learned SO much in this class and would love to take her again! She also brings in goodies for her classes (if you're special enough). Tests are easy. I absolutely ADORE her!! :)

first off, she is not hott at all and that was my sole purpose for taking her class. second she thinks she is funny and sometimes she is but most of the time she is not. you dont do much in the class except waste time by talking about what is going on as far as the news is concerened and you get to hear a bunch of dumbasses express their opinons.

this is an easy class and we dont do much in the class except talk about what is going on in the news. it can get really boring at times especially when the teacher lectures about speeches because it is all common sense. just try to put up with her lame jokes and do the speeches and you should do alright in her class. o and she is not hott.

On the contrary to what someone said about being "teachers pet" and getting a good grade, I wasn't a "teachers pet" and I did very well in her class. She's fun and cool and easy going. I highly recommend taking her!

Not an easy class, no tests but you need to write your 4 speeches and make progress in delivering them, I learned so much!! A very great teacher, makes the class a very enjoyable learning environment. I highly recommend Mrs. Lea Gilinets.

She shows favoritism once she gets to know her students. Not fair. Write and deliver your speeches and you'll be ok.

really sweet teacher, genuinely interested in student success, if you put in effort in her class, you will get a good grade, anyone who bashes her probably didn't do crap and did as little work as possible, she makes you work for your grade, but gives you all the tools necessary to get a good one, it's up to you to use them! rarely any homework :)

mrs. gilinets is very sweet and a total blast to have as a teacher. I had her VERY early in the morning and she kept the class entertained. We got out early almost EVERY day. F.Y.I. she does NOT play favorites...don't blame her for YOUR bad grade. This isn't high school

Lea is so awesome! She's fun, makes class interesting and easy as long as you pay attention. Tests are easy, sometimes you don't even need to study. She cares about her students and comes up with creative ways to keep you entertained. Helps that she's hot too! :) I highly recommend her!

Excellent teacher. She makes the class fun. Only four main speeches to do. Easy class. A highly recommended teacher. Lets class out early if lectures are over or other reasons. I enjoyed my semester in her class. You can't fail this class. It's Fun I tell you.

She is a funny teacher who tries her best to keep you entertained in her lectures. She keeps the students involved in lectures. Classes are usually let out early. First few weeks are lectures & then its all speeches from there. You should attend classes even when its not your speech day, it might affect your grade if you don't! I loved this class!

Lea Gilinets is a great teacher. She is fun and more than fair. She has a great rack. I could barely concentrate in class. Definately take her class.

she is a gr8 teacher..brought in snacks for us...only a few speeches...no tests ....very funny reallly loves her job and it shows...she is the BEST ...take her class!!!

I love her! she's so nice and silly. her class is not hard, actually fun. you do 3 speeches in the semester and there is only one test during the mid-term. you hardly use the book but it is helpfull. she's a good teacher and really try to make the class fun. take her!

She is funny and sooo sweet!!! she always talks about ratemyprofessor hahaaha i wonder if she knows she's a chili pepper worthy hottie. she is helpful, always listens, and talks about cool stuff. Politically biased even though in the beginning of her class she said that being bias is a bad thing to do. When coming into this class, leave any form of logic behind because she does not care for it so instead, let her run her mouth and do very generic speeches- don't do a speech because YOU like it, do it for HER because she WILL grade bad.

I LOVED HER...I have been putting off taking speech because i hate talkin in public. Lea made class so much fun. She always had a topic for us to talk about, and i loved how she would take evryday situations and turned them into speech related things. If you want to have a good time and still learn take from Lea.

She is awesome...ignore the other ppl...they are dumb..she was a great teacher...funny and def not feminist...im a guy and she was cool as hell to me...it was a somewhat difficult class...but if u do ure work and show her ure interested then you will be fine...she is awesome!

I don't know what you people are talking about. I took her a few years ago for public speaking and had a blast. I hate public speaking, but she made a great enviornment, I tell everyone I know to take her. My boyfriend took her last semester and loved her, I'm taking comms 223 with her now and loving it!!! Take her, do your work and have fun!

Whoever says that this teacher isn't fair has something wrong with them. Professor Gilinets was the most fair, understanding, and helpful teacher I had at COC. I didn't get the A, and that was fine. I got what I deserved in class, because Professor Gilinets is fair. She is also fun, clear and interesting!

Wow!reading some of the rants on this sight scared me. I took her in the winter and you don't need a book. I did exactly what she wanted and got an A. i think the problem is when she is so kick back kids mistaken it for stupidity. She is cool do as you are told and you will do fine. She was fun and super easy. Gonna miss her.

Great teacher! She actually made public speaking fun. Thought NO ONE would be able to do that for me. Lea is not concerned with you just putting in the speeches, she wants you to learn the material that is a sign of a good teacher. We need more like her!

What a nice person. She made class fun and made it go by fast. During winter we only had to do 3 speeches and no tests. YEA! Highly recommend it. Don't confuse her laid back cool attitude for a good grade she is still teaching. If you have questions she is willing to help. Ask them don't assume.She is a giver :) Also will grade high if U R trying.

I LOVED this class, and I was very hesitant to take it. It was fun, helpful, comfortable, humorous, and completely unexpected! She is an amazing professor. Extremely helpful, and so fun. I actually looked forward to my 8 AM class. I got a good laugh every time, and I always felt comfortable, no matter the subject matter. Also, she's really hot.

Professor Gilinets was great! I was not excited to take a public speaking class, but Gilinets makes you feel very comfortable. She is really funny and goes on tangents a lot. You DONT need to buy the book. I never used it once. Easy A if you prepare well for your speeches.

If you're dislike or hate speaking in front of people (like me before I took this class) then take her class. She makes public speaking fun. Very helpful too. Highly recommended!

She is so clear, I think students confuse her laid back attitude and think she gives out grades! I was in her class and she tells you what not to do AND I see students doing exactly that! Then they are mad at her! Also, if you dont go to class and then want help on the last few days, well it is too late! SHE IS AWESOME!

if anything you should take this class to just stare at her all day. it is also easy so doing that will not impact your grade.

Good teacher! So long as you take the notes and study the basic guidelines you should pass. YOU HONESTLY DON'T NEED THE BOOK!!!! She doesn't ask you to take it out and she hands out the guidelines.

take her summer session! very easy-going class. got out early almost everyday. you don't need the book. no hw or quizzes, just 3 speeches in the last 3 weeks. she's very helpful and cool, but kinda grades tough on speeches.. so as long as you try, and apply her notes and advice to your next speeches, you can still get a good grade!

She is awesome, I took COMS105 in the spring semester of '13 and got a "D" so I had to retake in the summer. Did not need the textbook just three speeches and that's it. She grades kinda rough but all you have to do is try and make eye contact! My only regret is not asking her out to dance in Paris...

Her sense of humor makes class enjoyable. I've never enjoyed public speaking but she made the class feel comfortable. She's not the easiest grader but if you put effort into your outlines and speech you'll be fine. She does mark students down for looking at notecards during their speech. I didn't buy the book. Got an A in the class.

I absolutely loved taking this class. She only talked about current events and has a great sense of humor. Not a single test taken, only had to do three speeches throughout the entire semester.

Professor Gilinets is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. She is, by far, the epitome of the terms, "profound educator." I loved her class. And, she's super easy. Definitely recommend.

I would take Lea again..I always looked forward to going to public speaking. She is super funny and makes the material fun to learn. If you have to take coms 105, definitely take it with her. We only had two speeches, so if you really hate speaking in front of people, you only have to do it twice. You don't need to get the textbook.
