Love Professor Capra. She is really down to earth and has great in-class activities. She keeps the material relevant to current events. She makes herself available if you need help, but her lectures are very clear. I would suggest taking any English class from her.
Compared to the other English professors I've had at Delta Professor Capra is the best. She doesn't just give you grades, she really tries to help you improve your work. Her class is interesting because she has a good sense of humor and is fun to listen to. She seems very educated and you can tell likes her subject. Would recommend
Awesome instructor. Always willing to stay and help. Really cares about improving your writing. Her teachings help with writings in other classes as well. Definitely would recommend.
Great teacher. We had a lot of work in this class but I'm a better writer now. I will take her for 1A.
Really loved every minute of this class. Cool professor
Professor Capra is really young and as a result is very current with what is going on the world today, as you will see in her curriculum. She gives very clear lectures, and integrates them with the textbooks frequently. You will write a fair amount of essays, however she is very clear and specific as to how she wants them. Definitely recommend.
Professor Capra is a really great teacher. She gives clear instructions daily, and stays true to her syllabus throughout the entire course. You will be graded on attendance, however she is very attractive, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. One of my favorite professors at Delta hands down.
I liked this class. We had a good variety of activities and ways to learn the material. We read a great book too. She took the time to teach us how to truly write and essay and for that I'll be greatful. Very nice teacher
Professor C was great. She is very nice, tough at times but not out of reach. If you do your work and show up you will get a good grade. Lots of writing but that's to be expected in an advanced comp class. We had interesting class discussions too. I am glad I took this class with her. She is very down to earth and always available after class.
Best English class I've ever had! Great instructor, good lessons. She's always prepared and has a good sense of humor which makes class fun. I wish I had her for all my English courses at delta! Take as many classes as you can with her
This instructor was awesome! She explains everything to us and is very clear about grammar rules. She makes it all make sense. I had a lot of trouble with commas and stuff before this class, but I think I'm so much better at it now. This class was very fun and she's a really good teacher.
Professor Capra is very nice and explains everything to you. This is the best English class I've ever taken. I passed because of her help
Professor Capra helped us learn proper essay format. The class could be repetitive at times, but the in class essays helped us pass by seeing what we did wron. This class also helped me write essays for my history class. Thanks to her, I finally know how to write an essay for my classes
I had her for eng. 79 and I loved her. She was really nice and always there to help you if you needed it. Her classwork were easy and we barely had homework as well. Overall, she was a great teacher, never late and I recommend others taking her class as well. :)
Professor Capra made this class a lot easier than I expected it to be. I don't mean that I didn't learn what I needed to, just that she made the learning process a lot easier. I'm definitely taking a class from her again!
I had her for eng 79 and I am taking her for 1a now. She is the best English teacher I have ever had at Delta. 1a has been so informative and fun. She knows what she is doing and talking about. The readings are great and she makes them better during discussion. It's been a pleasure. Taking her again for 1D this fall
Professor Capra is so good at what she does and is very down to earth. I learned so much in her class and had a blast!! Take every English class you can with her and you will get a great education
Best English professor at Delta College hands down.
She might seem easy but shes just making it easier to learn the material. I learned a lot from this class thanks to her. If you want a easy A dont take her. If you want to learn from working hardand putting in the effort y ou should take her class
My favorite professor. I feel like I became a better writer this semester because of her and improved on my reading skills. I cant wait to take her for 78B
I found her to be one of the warmest, most helpful teachers I've ever had. Beyond that, her depth and breadth of knowledge is staggering, and the class discussions were always incredible. She changed my life, my attitude toward literature, and the course of my career. Can you say that about other teachers? What an amazing, wonderful person.
Good teacher! Actually sits down and takes the time to help you with your writing and improve. Makes learning easy
She is one of Greatest Professor in the College.
The teacher told us the first day this class would be hard but she promised to go down that road with us. She was there every step of the way helping us on our assignments and teaching us to love reading again. Most days it didn't feel like work to me. Well she kept her promise and most of us passed the mastery and improved our reading scores too.
I had her last spring and her class was very good. We had two essays to write and a final essay in class. Not bad. Most of our homework was reading a novel or short story and answering questions about the reading. She grades on attendance and if you speak in class too. All together this class was fair and she lectures very well.
I had her for 1A and she's great. A lot of reading and writing and you'd better show up every time, I missed 3 classes and I got a B, I could have had an A if I didn't skip. So class is important but she does make it interesting and fun. Word of advice: DON'T slack on the essays and be prepared to work your butt off to get a decent grade on them.
Class time were discussions based on the short storynovel assigned and class was pretty boring. The readings were pretty interesting though. Assignments are also based on the reading. Professor Capra is a pretty cool professor, young, and an easy grader.
She's an amazing teacher and makes her night classes fun. If you read the stories you'll have an easy time passing the class. She makes the class fun and attending class is required.
I hate English. I hate writing papers. Professor Capra makes me forget those things. She's amazing. She listens to what you have to say and actually cares. She's also super hilarious and down to earth. Definitely take her class. It's totally worth it.
No one of my favorite .. She did not explained so well what we have to do when we had an assignment..
She is the best professor I have ever had
Professor Capra taught me how to write a proper A grade paper. I am at UOP now and I wouldn't be getting As on my essays if it weren't for her help. Her class was invaluable to my education and future. Take her class, listen, and you will get a great education.
This is my favorite professor!!! Very nice, clear and laid back. Homework wasn't hard but theres a lot to do. Made me a better writer though
Let me start and say this is the hardest English class I've ever had. We read a ton, wrote a lot of essays and had long class discussions. But was it worth it? Yes because not only did I pass even though this class kicked my butt but I am a much better writer than I could even imagine. Prof C is the best experience I have ever had
She is very cool and funny. This class was fun
79 was tough and frustrating at times, but I finally passed and got into 1A with all of her guidance writing an essay. 1A would have been inpossible without her help! Some of my classmates in 1A dropped after one week because all of the writing and 10 page papers were overwhelming for them. I would have never passed that class without taking her
She is the best teacher at Delta. I have never had any one help me with my writing like she did. If you haven't taken her yet, take her class next semester. Do it!!
Lots of reading for this course and showing up every week is very important. Shr gives a lot of information! Four essays in this course and a final but overall this class wasnt bad and her lectures are interesting. She is young and down to earth. Would take her again for 1D
I have taken her for all of my english courses at delta and hope i can take her next semester after 79. I have had other english professors and they were all horrible and didnt care about you at all. She gives fair assignments and is very clear and attentive to you. She is available and helps you if you ask. I wish i had taken her from the start
Professor Capra , is an awesome instructor she is very helpful , and more when it comes down to your essays .She is a very easy instructor and passionate for what she teaches . I would recommended her to anyone ! She is my favorite English instructor .
I'm getting like a 100% in the class. She's attractive, so you don't have to suffer, with an ugly, woman professor, haha. She's really funny, and the course would be tough if you can't write, but I'm a great writer, therefore, it was the easiest class I ever took. Best regards.
Do your work ahead of time; she is fair on grading. She gave a lot of reading, but it worth.
Greatest professor!! She assigns readings about real life things that have actually happened or are happening right now globally. With that being said, the readings are so interesting and never boring. She is so understanding that things happen in life too! Definitely would take another class of hers! Just make sure to stay on top of your work!!
She is very blunt but in a good way. She talks about things going on in the world today. I learned a lot during her lectures just make sure to write lots of notes, they will help you during your essay writing. You will write over 10 essays preparing you for the big one at the end of the semester. I enjoyed her class and would take her once again.
Ms. Capra is passionate about her subject and about teaching her students how to write correctly for college. She's pretty clear from the beginning about good and bad writing and helps eliminate a lot of the common errors or misconceptions students have about essay writing. I improved a lot and would recommend if you are serious about learning.
Super easy course. On assignments just answer each question and you'll get full credit. Discussion questions are based off the novels (which you can spark-note for answers) and a frequent question of what surprised us most on the module. Four essays are the hardest part just b/c they're broad topics, but once you know what to write about its easy.
This class was not easy but you take it to transfer so that's to be expected. Lots of reading and writing so make sure you catch up. She's clear and understanding but will make you work for it. I don't recommend taking this if you slack off because she doesn't accept late work. I found her to be a good and fair teacher and the class was fun.
The online class is a lot of work, you have to complete chapter applications along with discussions on a weekly basis. Four essays and four article reviews throughout the semester. She's kind of a tough grader and can get particular especially on the article reviews. Expect more work from this class than any other you're taking.
Good class. She made literature simple and entertaining even if you're reading the old stuff. Straight forward about grades and zero tolerance for late assignments. Glad I chose her class
I like her! I found the books/material to be interesting subjects. It really makes you think (the goal in a critical thinking course lol). My biggest complaint is the tedious application question assignments. They're so time consuming! Not always responsive to emails. Gives good feedback. Grades work fairly quickly too so you know where you stand.
I can't believe she only has an 88% take again rate! She's awesome! A lot of reading and a LOT of writing. But hey it's 1D. You do have to work for it and she does READ EVERYTHING! Good luck and you wont be disappointed if you put in the effort.
Profesor Capra is by far the best teacher that I've ever had. Show up to all her classes, and do all the homework and you will for sure get an A in the course.
Professor Capra is amazing. Wish all professors were like her. She is clear cut on what is expected and truly wants her students to learn. She doesn't make it easy, you have to earn your grade but she guides you into becoming a skilled writer.
she is a good teacher and very passionate about her work. but the online home work is the most i have ever done sometimes it is impossible to do everything. do not take this class if you intend to go part time.
Do not take her if you are lazy and procrastinate. If you dont pass her class its your own fault because shes fair and her standards are reasonable compared to other profs. I enjoyed her and learned a lot from this class. I was glad I stuck with it. Shes not really a tough grader as long as you do your work.
I cant stress how much I learned in this course and how passionate she is about literature and becoming a good writer. This course was awesome and Im so glad I listened to others when they said to take her
Eng 1D is all about critical thinking so this professor wont lecture to you about beliefs or think for you. She gives you info on things like education and the food industry and lets you make up your own mind. I enjoyed the relevance of this course and the fact that she encouraged us to think for ourselves and identify strong and weak arguments.
Her online 1B is pretty simple and straightforward. You read a short story every week from multi-cultural authors and do 1 discussion and 1 follow up. Two essays and 1 final. The readings are pretty interesting and as long as you write enough you will get full credit. Her responses are also interesting. I like this class because it is low stress
I loved this course and she taught it well. I appreciate her organization and it is not too much work. Encourages thinking outisde of the box and does not make you feel bad even if you say something that sounds dumb. The readings were challenging but I appreciated them more after she explained. Great class!
I really like the fact that this professor teaches multi-cultural authors in class since not a lot of professors have in my english courses. The readings were entertaining and I learned a lot bout multiculturalism. This course expanded my views.
Awesome class awesome teacher. I am glad I took 1B with her.
You have to work to get an A. 8 discussions. For these you read one to two stories each for every discussion. Readings are good and short. Easy discussions if you try. Two heavy based essay, 200 pts. each. So if you good writer fairly easy, just try and you'll do well. One final. 1000 pt class. Need 900 for A. Essays critical, not heavy grader.
She has a crystal clear rubric that if you mess, she can come across a little tough. However, dont be so quick to drop or judge because she has a big heart. I absolutely loved her. Take her for any English class, u wont regret it.
I took her class in Spring for 1A on campus during the evening once a week. She is very clear on what she expects out of the student and is very organized. She does not waste time and really cares about helping you become a better writer. You will pass the class if you do the readings and actually take the time to understand them.
Had her for summmer. This class is a breeze and the readings were interesting. Cheers
Professor Capra is tough but she is fair.
Took her online summer course, super easy. 6 discussions, 2 essays worth 200pts, and a final project worth 100pts. Offered E.C. Readings are interesting but can be hard to interpret. Give your best analysis on it and she will still give you full credit. Follow her rubric and you will pass!
I took her online summer class and it was great. The readings can be difficult to decipher and often you must read them more than once. There were 6 discussions, 2 essays, and some extra credit opportunities. The class is well organized. Professor Capra is awesome and easy to contact when you have questions. She has a rubric that will guide you!
I took her online 1A this fall and I LOVED IT! The readings were interesting and the discussions helped me analyze better for the essays. Her course is self-paced which I appreciated as a mom. I did not have to rush through readings and homework and took my time. I am glad I took 1A with her and know the readings will stick with me
I loved that it had no due dates and you could work on your own pace. there are 10 discussions. In each discussion, you could have 4 to 5 short stories that you have to write an analysis of what you have read. Sometimes you have to reread more than once. there are 2 papers and a project. It isn't a hard class, but you can't postpone either. easy A
She's a great teacher, but her workload is really heavy, there are no due dates so you work on your own time. She gives you approval if it looks good or not. Only take if you're confident in your English skills other than that you best have friends/tutors to help you like crazy.
Prof C's class was well-organized and the readings were interesting. Send her your work, and she will tell you what to fix to get an A. I was not a strong essay writer, but she helped me and I improved a lot. She will do anything to help if you just ask! I am so glad I took her. I noticed a difference in my writing and how to analyze texts better.
Really lovely professor. Cares about her students and is laid back but class was never a waste of time. I loved what we read. Would take her again
I took her class online. very manageable. She only gives you a few long assignments instead of busy work each week. You have to read a lot and sign in to stay enrolled. No due dates but dont slack off until the last minute. If you fail this class its your fault. Message her your assignments before you turn them in so she can tell you what to fix
Will give a 12 page paper as a final for an online class during a pandemic :)
This was the best class I have taken at Delta. Does not assign a ton of busy work. You have two discussions, three assignments and one final research essay. I appreciate her willingness to work with me and my schedule and design a manageable class.
The class was straight forward three (1,000 word papers), one (3,500 word paper) as the final, and two discussions. Everything is due at the end of the semester wouldn't recommend this class to people who don't have time management and need due dates to keep them in check. No progress updates, the final grade is not revealed till the end of class.
Easy class work load wise just do not wait until the last minute. I enjoyed the readings and the class theme. Long research paper due at the end but light on assignments during semester (only 5 things to turn in).
Don't be fooled by her rating like me! I did all the work on time. When she posted my final grade, I had an F! She doesn't let you know your grade so I had no clue. Also during the semester I had emailed her work that she said was great! Emailed her about my final grade, no answer. English has always been my best sub. so this is so ridiculous
She doesnt give you a ton of busy work, and you have a few things to turn in. The final essay is pass fail and if you dont pass it you wont pass the class but she will tell you what to fix if you give it to her ahead of turning it in. The readings are interesting and she is a nice and caring teacher. I never liked English until now.
Prof C changed my life. I was never a good writer and frustrated by the essay process. I waited to take Eng until the last minute because I hated writing. I am sorry I waited so long because this class would have helped me sooner. Her lessons on writing and drafting were clear and made sense. I learned to write, and my grades improved. Take her.
Best professor in the department hands down. Her class made reading fun and she is hilarious. I wish all English professors were like her
joined the class expecting to be excited and interested! it was boring, my expectations were definitely lowered after reading the first assignment. if you want something uninteresting and boring join this class.
I enjoyed the course and Professor Capra made it interesting
I learned so much and the work load was fair. Loved the class topic!
Easy going Professor and well organized class
Very hard to cooperate with her. Strict about grading and when you make mistakes.
You work on your research all semester and she gives you good feedback. Instructions are clear in class and she gives you credit on most assignments as long as you do them, even with mistakes, because work is just a draft of your final research paper. Gives extra credit. Would recommend because she is chill and you get to choose your own topic.
Easy class, clear directions. You work on 1 research paper the whole semester due at end. Responsive and easy grader as long as you do assignment and show effort
While Leah Capra is a good teacher, her course is too much work. If you are a high school student taking this class through dual enrollment do not take It as you will receive way too much homework and will become extremely overwhelming. Especially if you are busy with sports, community service or other commitments such as a job.
She is cool but gives tm work, her feedback is good but it is too much
Easy class you only work on one paper and it's all drafts until final research paper. You spend the semester writing 1 ten page essay. Gives helpful feedback and you have 1 assignment due every 2 weeks or month. Easy grader and relaxed
She lets you research any topic you are interested in and gives helpful feedback on your assignments. You work on 1 essay throughout the whole class so workload is not heavy. I enjoyed the class and her teaching style
GREAT CLASS! We were allowed to research ANY topic that interested us and work on only 1 large research essay the entire semester! Clear feedback and so helpful! I enjoyed this class and found it manageable. Seriously, take her! You will not regret it!
Uses Ai to grade work/ doesn't actually reviews assignments like she says she does
Great professor. Tells you what to fix to get a good grade. Recommend
Follow her directions and you'll do fine. Easiest English professor in the department but she is tough but fair.
Very responsive and nice!
Professor Capra was the best English teacher I have ever had. For starters, she allows you to submit your essays for feedback prior to submitting it for a grade. She gives you feedback on what you did great and what you need to work on to get an A. She also doesn't have due dates so you can go at your own pace.
Professor Capra has everything laid out for you to be successful in the course. Essays are due at the end of the course. Set your pace, don't procrastinate or wait until the late minute. Essays can be turned in early to get feedback to get an A on the paper. I recommend Professor Capra. Just put in time and effort and you will pass.
Took Professor Capra's course in the spring time,it was a sped-up course, so I had almost an essay a week, but had a great experience! She responds to emails, loved the way she has everything laid out, and all the readings and options that you can choose from are great. Great course, amazing professor, absolutely adored this class, highly recommend!
Took course in the spring. Amazing professor! She allows you to send your work in to her for feedback prior to your final submission to try to get the highest points possible. Loved this class for the options of books to choose from, and she was super helpful and gave me brilliant feedback to improve my writing. Definitely recommend her class!!
While she had lots of papers, that's what English is. Super easy class, just make sure to do your work. I kinda doubt she actually checks the essays, unless it has a high AI percentage. She's super cool and very kind. She also offers extra credit by the end of the semester. We read two books that the essays revolved around and the final was fun.
This class was pretty enjoyable will not being difficult at all. There was usually an essay a week and we had 2 novels to read through the semester. She provided very clear and organized instructions for every assignment which made it simple enough to get full points. Overall she is a very fair grader and the class is definitely passable for most.
