Passionate, interesting, witty and extremely helpful teacher. The exams are pretty straightforward and the term paper topics are various and interesting. She is always willing to help throughout the term. One word: AWESOME!

A very well read and well informed instructor. Dr. Ruhle's teaching style was amusing and the information she presented was easy to comprehend (if you do your readings beforehand.) One of the better instructors I've had the pleasure of dealing with.

Made a boring topic interesting with her enthusiasm and wit. Warning- she marks her papers pretty hard. Make sure you write a very organized paper- she has no issues marking you at a university level. This isn't Cap college!

Actually she's quite an intresting teacher, who recognizes that discussions will go off topic, and attempts to drag things back to a point. If your going to go into polisci, she's not to difficult cause you probably arleady know a lot of stuff. But if you don't she can be difficult, if you don't read the material. Overall though, a great teacher.

Fantastic professor; she is impeccably organized, impressively knowledgable, and completely reasonable as long as you do the required readings and participate a bit. Plus, she has a sense of humour that keeps things lively, which is always a bonus! Well worth taking classes with!

Lealle has well structured lectures with helpful overheads. Very easy to take notes with, hardly needed the textbook. She leads exellent discussions with past cases which are unusually civil. Midterms and Finals are challenging, but keep your head up in class and you should see it all coming. Papers will be carefully examined; be forewarned.

This professor is one of the best instructors I have ever met. Seriously she is not afraid of saying that she doesn't know, or that she is wrong. She is very well prepare when it comes to teachin. She is very understanding if you are facing a problem!

Great Professor. Made the class very enjoyable with her teaching style. Always made me laugh with some of her quips. She does go at a fast pace so get ready for speed note taking but the overheads she uses have the info on it too and she always leaves them for the students if they need them still. It goes without saying but study or you are doomed.

Lealle is one of the best profs i've ever come across. She is amazingly organized, helpful and fair. And she is funny as hell, i spent most of the class laughing my ass off and somehow taking in tons of information, and i left with a wicked grade. Even if you hate poli sci - she'll make you love it.

Don't agree with the participation mark, in such a complex subject matter, but do the reading, show up to class, and its an easy A.

Shes a very fair marker, and all the assignments are straight forward an easy. If you cant pull off AT THE VERY LEAST a B I think you should reconsider ever taking a political science course again. Shes funny and witty and offers prime examples. Apart from Mary Goldie shes probably one of the most recommended profs at Langara College in Poli Sci.

What's not to like? Plenty of gimme participation marks and forgiving exam format helps assure a high mark if you do your part. IMHO comments about feminist and leftist bias are exaggerated -- this capitalist male bourgoise found nothing unreasonable. High marks for personification of abstract concepts with cute voices.

If you read the homework you can do really well. Also take notes. Tests are based on exactly what she teaches. She is clear and helpful. Great teacher

I have to say she is by far one of the best profs I've ever had. Her passion for poli sci is evident through her wonderful teaching tactics. If you pay attention in class and do the proper readings for the exams, you will do great. Other than that, she is a pleasure to be around.

Leal is a great and motivating prof. She projects a clear and understandable approach to plitics and inspires the class by radiating her own passion. Really enjoyed her.

She is the most amazing prof ever! Always willing to help and not to mention one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. Take her class and you won't regret it. This class isn't about memorization it's about understanding and educating yourself. If you want an easy A, don't take this class, if you want to actually learn something, take it!

Some complaints about exam formats, as nearly questions were very dry compare/contrast questions requiring more rote memorization than independent thought. Does not provide nearly enough time for midterms (12 pages of writing in 45 minutes)Difficulty was artificial.

Excellent lecturer! She is clearly deeply interested by the material she teaches, has undying enthusiasm for explaining and discussing the subject matter, and is excellent at engaging the class in discussion. Definitely not a class you can fall asleep in. Easily the best professor (and course) I've had in three years of post-secondary studies!

Lealle is the bomb! She is one of the best profs here at Langara. She is very knowledgeable about her field of work and she is also a very engaging lecturer. It can be unclear at times as to what she expects out of the assignments. But, she is very useful if you drop by her office hours.

I usually don't rate teachers but Lealle is an exception. Extremely knowledgeable and engaging professor. Her classes are very interesting and her passion for Political Science shows. She is a fair marker even though her tests are long for a 50 minute class. Regardless of this i have taken two courses with her and have not regretted it once!

Ruhl is great! She's super energetic (I don't know how she talks so fast) and engaging. There was a LOT of reading in this class, so take it without a lot of other academic courses, but it was all super interesting and diverse. The assignments were fun to do. Lots of discussion too.

In all 3 years of my studies, Lealle is by far the best prof I have taken. She is incredibly engaging, passionate, understanding, & knowledgeable. She's also very helpful if you're struggling with an essay. Be warned, her class readings are very demanding, but she marks everything fair and you'll actually learn a lot from her class. Lealle is an amazing prof and person.She is very helpful when you ask her for help, you can tell that she wants her students to do well. I learned SO much from this class. I genuinely enjoyed going to class because she is such a dynamic lecturer, and she is so sassy!(those who have taken her will understand the extent she uses the word "sweetie")

Amazing prof!! POLI 1140 is quite intense (a lot of readings, esp. at the beginning) but she does it well. She talks a bit fast during lectures, so if you are not fast at taking notes by hand, I recommend bringing a laptop/tablet. Very clear with expectations, very helpful with research papers and questions with course material.

I've since moved on from Langara but I to this day, Lealle has been the best prof I've ever had. Incredibly engaging, intelligent and interesting. Lealle's lectures are fascinating. You don't even want to skip class. She's that good! Show up to class, do your readings, have something to say and you will do just fine.

Two hour lectures with her doesn't even feel long. She gave me a whole new way in viewing conflicts both international and interpersonal. Keep up with the readings if you want to do well. Overall an excellent course.

Don't skip on a week's readings no matter how compelled you feel. The midterm is based off of what you read for class. Incredibly teacher overall but you need to come to class prepared.

Took 1140 for casual interest, didn't care how I did but I thoroughly enjoyed Ruhl's energy/humor, I even felt like I learned something. Didn't open the text once or read a single article so class discussion/paying attention is why I passed. She brought timbits on the last day, which was pretty stellar. Would require consistent effort to get an A.

Take her class if you enjoy learning the content of the subject. She genuinely cares about student's academic performance and always transform dry materials into interesting lectures. However, don't expect to grab an easy A - because you must put a fair amount of effort into it.

Lealle is my favourite professor yet! Every lecture is interesting, fast paced and filled with valuable information. She talks fast so be ready to take fast notes. I was apprehensive in taking a feminism class however this class was the most valuable one I have taken on women hood and the female experience and how it connects to political life.

A nice, friendly and witty professor. She always gives very entertaining and yet sophisticated lectures. Tons of readings per week. Her only downside might be the fact that she is one of the toughest graders at Langara, but she also gives a lot of good feedbacks.

Lealle's lectures are interactive and informative. She readily adapted class discussion to suit student interests/current events (textbook is a little dated). It's structured similar to women's studies but with more theory. Take notes on how she says the feminist theories relate to each other for the final! Will give extensions if asked in advance.

Lealle is knowledgeable and passionate, but she is sometimes feisty, opinionated and disorganized in her lectures. The course involves a lot of reading, but the readings provide great insight through real life examples and further academic research. She incorporates weekly discussion sessions, and gives very good feedback. Participation is key!

When I took her peace & conflict course I was actually having a hard time in general but her lectures really changed how I was thinking about things. She thinks outside the box. Professor Lealle honestly changed my life. You have to be engaged in her class to succeed, but she makes it easy to stay engaged by being passionate and keeping her content relevant. POLI is a heavy course in terms of vocabulary, readings, and general concepts and terminology so it is best if you are diligent in what she assigns. She is fair in her grading and gives great feedback (also she is objective and just a joy to listen to in her lectures! you will learn a lot!!)

She is one of the most understanding profs I have come across. I really enjoyed her lectures and discussions and I think she is fantastic at her job. If you run into trouble communicate with her clearly and ahead of time. She is fantastic!
