Class "discussions" were mainly her talking at us. Often unorganized.
Ms Preston is like one of the students, which makes discussions fun.
Great Teacher, very helpful, just go to class or she will deduct points.
very fun and easy going...participate and you'll do fine
She's the best professor ever! I'm going to take her ENC 1102 class as well as her Women's Studies class. She's completely awesome and you guys - she's GORGEOUS. Definately easy on the eyes. I'm a girl and I even enjoyed looking at her lol

Three words : So Damn Hot
she is so amazing. highly recommended, as she has a true passion for teaching. her discussions leave you feeling enlightened and empowered. a devoted feminist and true activist!
Great Teacher!!!!!!!!
very fair grader. concerned about improving your writing skills, and grades based on effort. look for the tongue ring.
She is an awesome teacher! She is a really fair grader, but her discussions are awesome! I HIGHLY recommend her!
She's really devoted to her teaching. Great interactive classroom, definitely sees students as equals. Highly recommend her, just make sure you discuss either on webct or in class...and show up. Good attendance and participation helps!
Take Leandra for any class she is teaching and you will love it. She is always intersting and grades fairly. To make sure you get an A, participate in discussions and post on WebCT. She is easy to get ahold of outside of class.
A great english teacher for students who dont really like english.
Easy interesting class, open discussions which can be fun. Just read the few pages and say what you think. Atleast when I took the class, lots of feminist manifesto, but ya know. Leandra's easy on the eyes fellas (how chauvinist!).
Awesome class. Really helped me improve my writing skills. Extremely open-minded and relates to the students well. Plus she is incredibly hot. Happy visuals + good teacher = great class!
she hot guys, even if you don't like english she'll make it interesting. grades fairly and understanding. I would definitely take her calss again. Highly recommended.
She is the reason why I get up every morning to go to class (no pun intended). She obiviously loves her field and is willing to impart her knowledge. Fair grader and quite the looker. I giver her a 10. (uhhhhhh.....for being a teacher)
Amazing teacher! Very passionate about Women's Studies, really knows her stuff! Easy grader and is willing to assist you if you have any questions. One of the best courses I've taken!
passionate lady and really interesting. she opens your eyes to alot of things and she is a very fair grader and is pretty lienient on assignments.
Leandra is a doll!! Yes, she's adorable, but we women also love her for her mind and personality! She's the sweetest person and genuinely cares about people. But she's also a fighter who'll stand up for herself & for what's right! :-)
Great Teacher!!!Take her whenever you can.
awesome professor! she's a great person. take wst from her! she's gorgeous!
Leandra is one of the better teachers Ive ever taken a course with. she is also one of the most amazing people ive ever had the pleasure of knowing.
The best class ever. You will learn a lot and Leandra is a wonderful teacher. If you are not sure if you should take this class - just take it!!!

Great Professor!!!! She's very nice and she works with you if you have any problems either with the material or turning something in on time. She's very understanding and very sweet. I took her online course. It was great!!
Very difficult work-load. She expects 15 additional hours of community service work. Lots of reading. No exams. All grades are based on reading and responding. Don't take unless you have lots of time to devote to this class.
Very helpful professor. Really cares about her students' needs. There is a lot of reading, but there are no exams. Your grade comes from responses to these readings. Very easy, but a little time-consuming.
I took it online and it was an enlightening experience. She assigns interesting reading and we have some sort of discussion due weekly. She lets us use our creativity and for our mid-term we could write a paper, make a website, a magazine, etc. She is very nice and this is a great class to take.

Very excellent class. Leandra is the best teacher I have ever had. Her work is challenging and fulfilling. The service learning component really reinforces course material. Texts, discussions and projects are all extremely interesting, thought provocating and absolutely entertaining.
Inspiring person with great passion for the subject matter. Empathic and smart.
This class does involve some work and effort. Weekly discussions that involve you to read the required text...takes time but is fairly simple to do. You also have to turn in journals and complete a service learning project which involves writing a paper. You will have to do a good amount of work, but it is a good class.
She is very interested in the subject and encourages you to think about injustices that occur everyday to women. Men will also enjoy this class even though it is women's studies.
Teacher is insensitive to other's opinions even though she encourages them.

she's way more strict than she ever needs to be.
I love love love Professor Preston. Great course organization, expectations are clear, very engaging material. Take her for women's studies, you will get a lot out of it. I would gladly take her again.
Leandra was an amazing teacher! Her class discussions really encouraged the students to take ownership of the course. She had interesting outside material to bring in to class. On top of that, she is a really nice person and even came to some of our feminist get togethers outside of class. She is a fair teacher, & I recommend her to everyone!
Prof. Preston is awesome. She is organized and easy to communicate with. She love what she teaches and wants students to love it too! Take her for Intro to Women's Studies (online was even good!).
Leandra is one of the most intriguing and informative professors I've ever had. She allows for the best open discussion, and is the best facilitator of discussion and learning that I've met. The classes require a good bit of reading, but you'll want to read it, and how else would you learn? She often teaches at Cocoa but it's worth it. Take her.
Brilliant. What a college course is supposed to do: Inspire and ignite your world! Leandra is encouraging and totally fierce. (Plus: she is super smokin hotttt!!!! Hands down: THE most sexiest womyn in the worlddd. That is if you like the whole rock n roll & ears gauged look. mhmmmm.....total hottie!!!)
Leandra Preston by far is the best professor at UCF. Theres alot of reading but hello people this is college. She is not judgemental and totally into what she does. (Also: she is pretty easy on the eyes. Like super smoking hottt. I'd take another class just so i could look at her for 3 hours a week.)
The best teacher. Take this class even if your believes are different than what is being taught. This is a class that makes you think outside your own box, and it is very an uplifting class, for yourself and your spirit. I did not want to like this class because I did not know what to expect, but it turned out to be great
Online. You really get a better idea of what feminism really is. Took it in 6 week format, no tests. Weekly discussions and replies plus a film analysis, and the big one--a service learning project and paper worth half of your grade. Start it as soon as class starts and you'll be fine!
Online. Class is interesting. 3 tests, otherwise postings. Professor grades fairly easily, but is slow putting grades up. Service learning project is a big deal and requires a minimum of 15 hours of your time, and then you write a paper about the experience.
One of the best professors I have taken at UCF and it was an online class. Organized, challenging, super responsive, empathetic, and overall excellent prof. Definitely take her, even if you think Women's Studies is just for man-haters. She will prove you wrong.
Took it online. Lots of reading and writing discussions. As long as you keep up with it, it's easy. Very interesting. Sometimes it took a while to get grades back. Answers questions. Must do 15 hours of service learning! So plan ahead for that! I got an A. Good class
I took Women's Studies in the Spring of 2010 online(still in it.I don't like. She doesn't give enough opportunites for points toward your grades. 3 tests, a big project, and 5 discussions. She grades ridiculous on discussions, it's impossible to get full credit. She is slow posting grades. If your opinion is different from hers she takes it personally
She wasn't hard, but she should have been. We had class discussions but she didn't really help them along, so they didn't go where they should have. It sort of seemed like she didn't take the class seriously. She also got mad defensive when she got called out. Uses alright texts, depending on the class you might enjoy it.
I took this class during 6 weeks in the summer. It was a little fast paced but it wasn't extremely hard. The reading isn't too bad, some of it is interesting. She grades fairly, service learning was required but it wasnt alot of time. Reccommend this class if you are good with checking your webcourses regularly.
She is one of the best online professors I have ever had. Actually DISCUSSES with students, grades with feedback, provides ample opportunity for grades, is responsive and overall super attentive for an online teacher. I wish I could take her in person but she mostly teaches online.
A great professor! This was an online class. The workload is fair and she is lenient in the discussions. One paper but it was an opinion essay so it was an easy write! If you check your webcourse regularly, you'll be fine.
I took this class online. I was hesitant at first since it was my first women's studies class, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm keeping my women's studies minor. Weekly discussions, make sure you discuss with classmates and check webcourses frequently. Do the community service early!! The only negative is that she can take a while to grade.
The material may be lengthy, but so well worth it. You learn a lot and are encouraged to help out in your community and have discussions with other classmates. She gives you everything you want in a class. I plan on taking her classes as much as I can.
Good class. You have either quiz weeks or discussion weeks...both pretty easy. Discussion posts are 500 words, and you have to interact with other students. Quizzes are short and are related to readings and assignments. 15 Hours of community service, and a paper detailing and logging your experience. 5 page min. Not too hard if you do it early.
Really interesting course, especially for an elective. I took the class online and she always clarified everything that I did not understand. We had 4 quizzes total and a discussion every two weeks. Also had to do 15 hours of service learning and write a 5 page paper about it, which is not hard or long at all. I recommend her for anyone!
Great class, easy to pass. Discussion board posts are based on opinion of the readings that week, and some movies that you have to watch (available mostly on Netflix Instant). Quizzes are short answer. Also, there is a 15 hour service learning project.
Great Professor. This is the 4th class I've taken with her and I've loved each. She's very fair and wants us to do well :) Recommend HIGHLY!
This class is cut and dry. Read and post a discussion for the most part. You do have to construct 2 zines and do a service-learning project as well. Make sure you keep up with your project and get your 15 hours done. There is a 7-10 page final SL paper at the end of the semester. She grades pretty difficultly on things other than the discussions.
This was a great class and it is my 3rd time taking a class with Professor Leandra Preston. The class consist of discussion, reading from the two main textbook and a research paper at the end. I enjoyed learning about masculinity and the information provided were great. She is very nice and helpful as well.
Amazing and cares about the subject and her students
Best prof at UCF
Dr. Preston-Sidler made this class enjoyable when we talked with other classmates about each topic via discussion boards. I rarely found myself referencing the textbooks. 1 fun project that you can personalize, along with the 15-hour service project, which is pretty simple to complete (5-7 pages long). Great elective for tech/gender studies majors
This was an OK class but she is horrible at grading. She takes forever to grade your assignments. Even after the term was over I still was unaware of one of my grades on the biggest project. You have a Service-Learning Final Project/Paper which you have to complete to pass the class. Everything else is discussions, there's no quizzes or exams.
Amazing teacher. Very responsive. Emails back within 24 hours. Great topics in class.
Course consisted of weekly textbook readings, weekly discussion posts, and 2 exams. Exams were straight from textbook. Professor took a little long to grade, but was clear and consistent. Super interesting class and easy assignments
Dr. Preston is by far the best professor I've had while at UCF, her course consists of in class discussion, along with relatively easy homework and quizzes. Her concern seems to be more with having students engage in meaningful discussions than dishing out useless and difficult assignments. Best professor at UCF and I highly recommend her courses.
I learned a lot by doing the discussion posts and following the readings. The midterm and final were pretty hard but she gives you a lot of material to help you learn.
She is my FAVORITE professor at UCF, I have taken four of her courses now and they are some of my favorite courses I have taken. She packs in super interesting material and outside sources and the discussion posts are never boring. She's also so caring and compassionate. I hope women's studies becomes a full major so I can learn even more.
There was a lot of confusion around due dates and frequent miscommunication but I cut her some slack due to the pandemic and everything going on. The class was basically a few discussions and film notes plus a big service learning project - overall pretty easy, but I wish it had been a bit more stimulating since the content is really interesting.
Sometimes the assignments or assignment due dates were not very clear but overall I think the Professor cares about her students and she understands that things happen. I have taken a class of hers before and would take another one.
This is my second time taking a class from this professor because shes honestly the best! Very understanding and caring of her students well being inside/outside of school. All of her material is easy to grasp and she understands we all have lives. If I could take her classes again I honestly would! Any class with her is amazing & easy! WST3610***
Pretty easy. Very understanding professor, just email with any issues and she'll work with you to figure something out.
Unfortunately, I did not have a very good experience. Canvas was insanely disorganized. The syllabus and modules were out of date and actually caused us to not have to do half of the semester's work. If you take her, keep an eye out for mistakes. Very interesting material and very accommodating professor. Just an off-semester!
I was disappointed with this class. She absolutely cannot figure out Webcourses. Making multiple submission spots for the same thing, not responding to your email and then weeks later sending out an announcement "answering" your question to the entire class, not opening assignments until they're almost due. Just a whole semester of confusion.
DO NOT TAKE! Seriously, I took this class as an online class because almost every review was so positive and talked about how fulfilling the material was. But holy crap. Not only is she insanely disorganized, but she only gave out the instructions for a semester long term project (worth 30% of your final grade) TWO WEEKS before it was due. Terrible
Took WST3015 for an elective to top my fall schedule off and it was a mistake. The professor is nice, but extremely removed and isn't as accessible after class as students would like her to be. The material is EXTREMELY left (like radical) and the reading is like 30+ pages per chapter which has been mind-numbing. Take yoga or philosophy instead...
A LOT of reading, & the quiz was 50/50 on what was in the book. You HAVE to take notes for your benefit & a grade. There's a "service-learning" project, I couldn't complete it as I'm restricted on travel (this was a online class, I didn't find it necessary). Just get 100% (A) grades on ALL assignments, you can skip the project but get only a 77.73%
Worst professor I've had. Doesn't respond to emails and doesn't grade work for literal months on end. The service learning proposal was not graded nor given feedback on until a few days before it was due. She is basically unreachable. She needs a TA to help her with several issues.
She was SO difficult to reach, and took extremely long to grade assignments, some of which you needed graded for the final paper/project. I also emailed her multiple times and never got a response back. Not a tough grader, but lots of reading. She never even posted the grades for final project.
I've had this prof. a few times and every semester, she's gotten so much more disorganized. She hardly ever responds to emails, grades things at the last min., & is very unreachable. The class wasn't hard, but she made it more difficult than it needed to be with all of the issues. But, she's really nice and caring (if you can ever reach her)...
She has poor communication. She uses Yellowdig for discussions. Be aware that you need to get the full points each week to get full credit. She puts grades in infrequently which is not ideal. There's a project for the final assignment which can be virtual. Textbook is needed. Overall very easy class but would not recommend the professor.
Class is very easy, just do the assigned readings and notes and you'll be fine. However, communication is GOD-AWFUL so you're out of luck if you run into an issue, and classes are disorganized. I've taken different semesters (out of necessity) and she's been the same across all of them. Can honestly say I wouldn't take her again if I had a choice.
Not a bad class overall. Dr. Preston was accessible through email, answering pretty quickly. There were no tests or quizzes, just writing assignments for each module, a project & two papers under 1,000 words at the end of the course. It does take a while for things to be graded, but the criteria are clear so it shouldn't be hard to get a good grade
Lowkey really easy quizzes and assignments. Beware there is a service learning project and you will need 15 hours of volunteer work outside of class. They don't grade anything till the last day of the semester but will not grade harshly. Chill class not too much work, wouldn't take if not required/really interested in women's studies.
