Will stop during an a problem to explain if you don't understand. Does good notes on the board. Works at the math lab 4 xtra help. Gives xtra credit for hmwrk.

Dude His class is so easy! He lets you out early and explains the math Qs as if you were a 6year old. Which is what we all need! The quizes help towards the tests, and he reviews for the tests too. So his class is so straight. But come to class everyday.

I got an A in his summer 12 week class. He is not easy like some say, he requires hours of studying, I know because I studied my butt off for that A. Took him for pre cal and trig and can honestly say was the easiest math class I've ever taken. All tests are multiple choice. A lot of homework but you have all semester to complete it! Puts up reviews for exams and give you extra points for an 80% or better. Definitely recommend this guy!

Pre-Calculus and Trig was a breeze with this professor. He explains very thoroughly and really knows what he's talking about. His tests could get a little challenging but it's nothing he didn't explain in class, so study! He's great!!

He's by far the best math teacher I've had. He's fun to listen to and knows his material. The tests are tough but what do you expect? This is Calc and you are supposed to know the bases for it (Pre-calcandAlgebra). Calc isn't hard, the algebra and pre-calc is what gets people. When I took this professor I thought he was the best and his class was easy (studied daily) however I'm now in cal2 and I've realized he doesn't teach enough to prepare you for calculus. If you don't memorize all the trig identities/graphs (which he provides on exams) you will suffer later on. Take him if you're only going up to algebra.

Just finished taking MAC1140 with him, and I must say that he is a really good professor, except for when he uses the powerpoints. He sometimes tend to teach off the powerpoints and not write on the board making it harder to understand. Otherwise he is really good when doing the examples on the board. He breaks down every step and explains slowly.

No surprises, and I loved it. Make sure you study for tests. Homework can be a little difficult, but you have online help.

Easy A. 4 tests, online homework that helps with each test and then all the homework counts as a grade. one paper on a famous mathematician. Super funny and understanding. I'd love to take another of his math classes.

This professor is one of the best at MDC. Business Calc is not an easy class and He explains thoroughly until you understand. All the test are multiple choice. His reviews are very similar to exams. You can get any closer to it. Also he makes the topic funny and always has funny remarks.

What a great professor. He explains very clearly. I would take any math class with this man. His tests are relstively simple. There are no surprises.

An okay professor, It is a bit difficult to understand at first but overall, he isn't a bad teacher. He only gives out four tests with Homework counting as an extra test grade. I recommend him for a mini-semester or summer because with any luck, he'll make the final test online and at home. Grades are in points only. You need 350 to pass the class.

Alvarez is great, he explains the lectures almost perfectly, his class is based around 5 exams and a final if you need it to pass, and homework. Other than that he is a good teacher and one you should take

Excellent professor. Lectures are entertaining, tests are fair, and he explains the material very clearly. His tests are multiple-choice with no partial credit, but otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend him.

He has an accent but it's understandable. He explains the material clearly and the tests are multiple choice. He gives out 4 tests (20 questions each) and 1 extra test that is an average of all the homework. Does not give a study review before tests. Do all the homework and study A LOT if you want to pass with a good grade.

Grade was an average of 5 exams, 4 of the exams consisting of 20 multi-choice questions. The 5th exam is an avg of hw assignments on MyMathLab. I appreciate Prof. Alveraz because he took his time going over lessons. And he postponed 2 of our exams b/c we weren't ready. He had a review for EVERY test. Even gave an +credit assignment worth 10testpts

He is a really nice guy and care about his students. You might not be able to understand him at first but you will get him at the end. Overall nice proffesor.

Amazing Professor for precalculus, he explains everything step-by-step. His grading is fair, he gives you the option of taking the final if you are not happy with your grade. Overall he is a very nice, hilarious, and understanding professor.

I do not even understand how this prof has negative reviews because he is so GREAT. It is simple. If you listen in class and ask questions, the tests and homework will be just as simple. He is extremely good at teaching and will help you with any questions you may have. I wish I could take him again but I do not even need to. I recommend him HIGHLY

Professor Alvarez is amazing so Im not sure why there are bad reviews. If you have something negative to say about him, its because you did not do your part. He is very caring, hilarious and CLEAR. I took him for MGF 1106 and 1107 and I never had a problem! His tests are clear and super easy. Do the homework every day and you will be fine!

I suck at math but ended with a B. He answers all questions and explains things well. Homework is online and has a lot of helpful tools that help you pass it with 100%.

I took Professor Alvarez for a summer course so lectures were approximately 2.5-3 hours long with a 5-10 minute break in between. There's a lot of online homework but it's extremely helpful for when test time comes which there are 5 of and one final. You're allowed to use formula sheets for them.

A lot of online homework. 6 test and proctored midterm and final. Tests are very hard. If you are good at math then this class will be super easy for you. If you are like me, then you will struggle because I have to figure out everything on my own.

Hes a great lecture, makes class fun. If you study the notes, do the homework, and study your practice test you should do very well in the class.

Professor Alvarez is a great professor. The class consists of 4 tests and homework from Pearson. He's funny and accessible outside of class. He responds to emails and when I asked if he could look over an exam again to see if there was any mistakes (since we transitioned to online exams) he bumped my test score up. You will need to study tho

He's a very good teacher. Takes his time to explain & willing to stay after class. He provides study guides for all test. I am very bad at math and had difficulty not because he was a bad teacher but because i was bad. There is a lot of hw but he gives us the whole semester to finish it. No midterm, no final. RECOMMEND

This guy is a GOAT, made math super easy and the lectures ended pretty fast. If you need help dont be shy and ask him hes super nice. Highly recommend

I just want to say that I really despise math bc Im so bad at it but this professor makes it all seem so easy! I have taken him for MGF 1006 & MGF 1007 + STA2023 and I received high As on all 3 courses. Take him if you have the chance, you wont regret it

I had him for MAC and STA and he is really nice and easy going. He explains things in a simple way making it easier to understand. Sometimes a little fast but its fine. He also sends practice test before exams. Do them and study the exercises he does in class and youll do good in tests.

Professor Alvarez has great lectures, he is clear on what is expected. If you listen to the lectures and do the homework you should pass.

He is an amazing Professor for Statistics- as it is hard. He responds to your email. You just have to study VERY hard, since it Statistics. I love his test reviews and he did practice tests. W/ answer and explanation that was kinda similar to the actual test. Pearson Math Homework was the worst. 1 Midterm 1 Final 6 Chapter Test + Pearson Hw

He is very understanding because of COVID. He records the lectures to review them. He answer my emails quickly if I had any questions. I would take him again.

Considering that I suck at math, this class was not that hard. I took MAC 1105 with him and in all his meetings, he teaches very good and answers any questions you may have. 4 test in total and they are not proctored. A lot of homework though. The only thing that annoyed me is he NEVER ONCE responded to my emails. Overall, easy class & good guy.

He's not as bad as people think, some say in the lectures or lectures where he does extra work, he is rude but I slept through most of them considering the lectures were pre-recorded and they were online. It's an easy class there are around 4 tests and a final. You also have coursework that you have to do through the semester, overall good.

Prof. Alvarez is dedicated to his lectures. He is always trying to help you understand the concept and goes over the concept if you don't understand. He is accessible for office hours and wiling to help. I would take him again.

Only downside is the homework on mystatslab, not bad but the questions can be tricky and take really long to complete. Grades are 6 non proctored chapter tests + proctored midterm/final + average of completed homework. Pace yourself and you should be just fine to pass this class.

Took this professor for Spring, very good! Tested on ALEKS and 5 exam non-proctor and allows notes to be used. He is knowledgeable in teaching subject is just a bit difficult cause there is a lot of material to go over. But overall he is good.

Really easy class even if math is not your best subject.

I took this class during the summer (6 weeks), honestly the grade depends on you. His lectures are usually only about an hour and thirty minutes. The good thing about him is that he provided practice tests for all tests. He grades like this, 4/5 tests + HW. Hell drop your lowest test grade. The practice tests are your best friend for this class.

It's a huge shame this professor isn't teaching calc one in spring. If he were I would take it in a heart beat. Alvarez is very easygoing and funny, he also takes his time explaining things if students are really struggling. He also accepts feedback about the material before he writes his exams and takes the time allotted for the exam into account.

The class entirely online. He gives 6 tests that are not proctored and midterm/final are proctored. We used MyStatLab for HW's and it is worth 15% of the final grade, the tests are 30%, the midterm is 25%, and the final is 30%. Final replace your worst TEST grade. Be ready to learn by yourself. He replies to emails and he's flexible. Good luck

Prof. Alvarez is the best!!! Extremely hilarious and his classes were super easy and short too. He would finish lecturing waaay before the class was supposed to end, but he was so clear that there was no need to stay more time. He is also very caring with his students, and super accessible! Take his class!!!!

I've taken professor Alvarez twice and he is so great. He is always willing to help and re-explain anything. Super funny and teaches very well. Usually has 4-5 test and homework all weighed the same. homework is unlimited attempts. If the 160+ 5 star ratings don't explain enough, take his class you will not regret it!

Such an amazing professor! I'm not a big fan of math, but his lectures were easy to understand, he gives you reviews for the 5 tests that you have to take (which were helpful) + HW is due at the end of the semester so you have time to complete it, such an understanding and funny person that cares for his students, I enjoyed math because of him!!

Prof Alvarez is very laid back, funny and overall a pretty good prof. Lectures are short and sweet, notes are online and with videos as well, 4 tests and 1 optional final, hw on Pearson due at the end of the semester. Drops lowest test if you take final. Material wasnt too hard, he gladly answers all questions. Take him, you wont regret it.

The class consisted of a proctored midterm and final, unproctored exams, and homework. His study guides for the midterm and final are extremely helpful, the questions on the tests were the same except with different numbers. Really not a hard class if you dedicate a bit of time to getting your homework done and studying before midterm & final.

This was an online class for me. The hw was all due at the end of the term on mathlab. Proctored midterm and final. Thankfully the professor rounded my grade to a C. He is very understanding and wants the best for his students. You have to put in the work to learn the content. He gives a study guide with explanations on the answers.

Easy class, funny teacher. Tests are just paper versions of the homework we do. Gives us reasonable time to complete our homework. For someone like me who is very bad at math, I am shocked by how understandable his in-person lectures are. Anybody who complains about this class either leaves things to the last minute OR doesn't study lol.

If you're looking for an online math class teacher that is simple and to the point, look no further. As long as you are someone who can self-teach, his class is easy. He has reviews for EVERY exam (midterm and final included). His grading scale is fair and the syllabus gives all the instructions needed to pass the course.

Took this class completely online. A lot of homework but its all due at the end of the semester.Homework is only 15% of your grade, midterm was around 25% and the tests (6) and final are 30%. Professor takes a while to respond to emails but is helpful when he does. He provides review for each test that is very similar to the actual test!

Statistics for me is super hard but he did an amazing job at explaining it. If you show up to class and do the homework you will be good for the quizzes midterms, and finals. For midterm and final he gave a practice which helps A LOT

look no further You must attend his class in order to understand on what is being taught but his lectures are straight forward there is alot of homework but if you timed yourself you will be fine. the quizzes are sometime online or paper but the midterm and final are paper-based he provides you with reviews that look similar to the actual test.

Professor Alvarez is great! He is very straightforward and his lectures are easy. I took him in the summer as a short term and the class did go a little fast but if you took Stats in HS you would be fine with him. HW is due before each test, and he is very lenient with grading criteria. Overall, he is a really good professor, take him!!!

The class overall was good. If this is your first time taking statistics, prepare yourself for lengthy homework. DO NOT procrastinate. Try to do some work daily. The midterm/final are worth a combined 55% of your grade so doing well on these proctured exams can make you or break you in the class.

Professor Alvarez makes statistics engaging and manageable. With practice tests, unlimited homework attempts, and helpful lectures, you can succeed in this class. I found unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook really useful for studying. Definitely take this class if you can.

Prof. Alvarez is one of the best professors I have had. Hes very funny and jokes around he makes sure you understand everything. He gives reviews for tests with a online pratice test and a optional review during class. He doesnt really answer his emails so I do recommended asking him anything in class, but in general hes a 10/10 professor.

Prof.Alvarez is a really great professor. We had 3 quizzes and a midterm and final. We used lock down browser for the midterm and final but normal browser for the quizzes. He gives homework but all of them are accessible and pretty simple.
