Leanne actually takes attendance as class participation points, so it is helpful to attend class. However, she was super helpful on all exams and homeworks and is a blast to have as a professor. She clarifies information and presents it in a way that is not at all boring. Definitely recommend if possible (she usually teaches intercession)
Great teacher! She really cared about students and answered emails quickly.
Leanne is a fantastic professor. Took her over the winter intersession. A lot of work for the course itself but Leanne does everything possible to help you learn the material. Her lectures are organized and easy to follow. Not an easy A but not impossible if you work and stay current with the coursework. Would definitely take her again.
She is a great professor. If you show that you care about the class and are willing to work hard, she will do everything she can to make sure you succeed. The topics can be kind of dry but she does a fantastic job of making it as fun to learn as she can. The course itself is manageable and reasonable.
Class was a lot of canned material crammed in but you don't need to go, it's a pretty easy A. She's nice, and office hours were helpful. I did fine, but I wish I'd taken the regular class in the spring. At least I got it done, though I can't say I learned anything useful.
Leanne was a fantastic teacher and lecturer. She taught concepts clearly making the material easier to understand. Still, this class requires you to work and study because the exams are challenging. Read the textbook, go to class, and study using the practice exams Leanne makes and you will do well. Homework and extra credit points help your grade!
If you need to take accounting, take it with professor Adams. The questions on her handouts and practice exams are very much like the questions you'll see on the actual midterm. And she GOES OVER THOSE QUESTIONS DURING THE LECTURE. Go to the lecture, and you'll do well.
Leanne was such a pleasure for VITA. I highly recommend taking this service learning class! I actually ended up enjoying doing people's tax returns haha. Leanne was great to learn from and inspired me to become a better professional in accounting!
She is not good at explaining any of the concepts. She gives you an excess amount of homework on things that don't help/ won't be on the exam. Half the class is you just sitting there doing handouts, once again, on your own without her explaining them. She makes this class five times harder than it has to be for just an intro to accounting class.
Leanne Adams is a really good professor for ACCT 2001. She brings a lot of energy to class and gives guided worksheets which are really helpful. There are three in class exams and three online exams which are all pretty challenging. I would recommend going to office hours either with Leanne or the TAs to prepare for them.
She's great if you know accounting. If you don't you're absolutely screwed. She teaches like everyone already knows exactly what she's talking about. She's not a good teacher, and you'll have to figure out most of the concepts for yourself. This class was one of the most stressful things I've ever done. Avoid it if you can.
Professor Adams is a really nice person, but this class is really challenging. Especially if you're new to accounting concepts, this class is going to require a lot of effort. The good thing is a lot of you grade consists of homeworks and things besides exams so theres lots of places to earn points. Put in work, read the book, and you can do well
Leanne's class has so much homework and it is very poorly structured. Most of learning is done outside of the classroom, and for a subject like accounting that style of learning makes it very difficult. Tests are reasonable but stupidly tricky. Beware if you're not good at accounting.
Leanne Adams is a very knowledgeable and up-beat professor. There are many class handouts which are very helpful for understanding concepts and studying for exams. The pace is a bit fast for those who have never had an accounting background before, but the worksheets and online assignments are great help.
Leanne Adams is an incredible professor and human being. She made the challenging material easy to undestand. She was constantly looking for ways to revamp the class to make it better. Definitely would take again. She is very accessible outside of class too if you need help. Make sure you go to class though or you will not do well.
She's a great professor, but this class was boringly slow. I just showed up for clicker points and did the homework. No need to read, just do the problems. I always received 100s on every exam and didn't study at all. I'm pretty sure I ended up with more than a hundred average for the course. Many classmates thought it was hard for some reason.
Leanne is great! She does a great job to be engaging, and to be approachable. The real tricky part is the class (Intermediate I). You need to skim over the chapter, get the main point, do the practice problems, and repeat to be successful. It is VERY hard and fast paced, but Leanne is there to help you along the way.
Anyone who says Leanne is a bad professor clearly did not try in class. If you show that you're trying, Leanne goes above and beyond to help students. Intermediate 1 is a difficult class, it is expected that you put the effort into learning. If you're not actively engaging, asking questions and practicing, that's on the student, not the professor.
No late submission allowed. I was 4 hours late for an online homework, and the website choose the higher grade as a final score with a partially reduced point which is lower than the first trial, but the professor didn't give the option of choosing the first score(which is higher than the reduced score).
This is the hardest class I've ever taken. Good thing she puts the lecture slides online because she goes through them within 30sec. Tests make absolutely no sense and if you do bad on them theres not much to help come back. She thinks she's the best teacher but by far the worst. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! Exams are impossible, unfair, ridiculous.
Leanne is fantastic! Many assignments & extra credit over the semester so your grade isn't just a few exams. She works through practice problems with you in lecture so you're always studying and always prepared. Very accessible and helpful outside of class (along with the TAs). Funny and caring, like a mom :) I recommend taking accounting with her!
Very passionate (almost annoyingly), gets off topic a lot, at least 3 hw a week, grade very spread out though (lots of hw and other assignments) If u work hard and read the text youll be okay, lectures are only for clicker Qs
Leanna does not care if you do good or bad, she just spends the majority of the class trying to motivate us rather than teaching. Her tests are impossible, over 60% of the class failed the first exam and she was "so happy with the outcome". Do not take this class if you want to keep a good GPA because this will destroy yours. I wish I never took it
Shes seems to genuinely care for her students and I believe her about 90% because she is very caring but makes the exams unnecessary hard- purposely tries to trick students ! Super nice tho
Leanne is the best! A lot of people tend to dislike her just because the material itself is tricky, but she gives tons of opportunities to make up for bad test grades through extra credit/ easy assignments. Even though the concepts are tough, she tries to get everyone to understand the material by posting her lectures and having long office hours:)
Class was unreasonably hard and awful exams. Trick questions in exams, acts like she is a good teacher but is happy when kids do poorly. I don't recommend this to anyone and I feel VERY SORRY if this class is mandatory for you. Learned absolutely nothing., very disappointing.
Yes, this class is challenging, but if you put in all the work and understand the concepts, you'll be fine. There's so many online resources and TA office hours as well. Study hard for the exams, and Leanne is very accessible and upbeat.
Although Leanne is a great person, this class was incredibly difficult. Some people may say that those who did poorly didn't try hard enough but I tried so hard and couldn't grasp everything she taught. She went at a very fast pace and expected you to know the material before class. EXAMS WERE SO DIFFICULT!! Also, she counts clicker participation
This class is hard. The content is difficult and there is A LOT of homework. That being said, I thought Leanne was a great lecturer and found her to explain things well. Go to TA office hours as much as possible if you're having trouble because the content itself is hard and sometimes takes some extra work to get it to click. She really cares tho
Financial accounting is a tough class and can be hard to grasp no matter the professor. That being said, Leanne genuinely cares and does all she can to teach the material. It is a lot of work (Learnsmart activities completed prior to lectures and online assigned problems ) but if you stay on top of it and go to class it's easy to study and do well.
Currently taking her online, the worst professor I have ever had. She can not adapt to online technology and frankly is unacceptable. If you take her, Expect to be teaching yourself everything!
Professor Adams cannot adapt to online learning, if you have to take this class, try your best to not have to take it online.
I'm taking this class online, and it is the hardest class I've taken so far. There are 3 exams worth 25% each. Accounting is hard in general, but I don't think Leanne has done anything to make it better. I teach myself most of the material and going to TA office hours are helpful. I wouldn't recommend this class if you don't have to take it!
I was initially worried that this course would be super difficult, but it's turned out to be pretty manageable. Leanne provides a lot of opportunities to really grasp the material, including weekly quizzes and problems. There was initial issues with technology at the beginning, but they've been mostly worked out. I think Leanne is a great teacher.
Leanne does not understand that people have lives outside of class. The "practice" problems she assigns are nothing like the exams and take hours to complete. Exams use lockdown with webcam. She sends constant emails with useless information and assigns work during reading week. If you have the option, don't take this class with her.
If this class isn't necessary, avoid. There is copious amounts of homework every week and she has no empathy toward the students who are struggling due to the pandemic. Gaslights her students for being stressed and the problems on exams look nothing like the problems from homework/class. The subject itself is hard but she does not make it easier.
She's very friendly and enthusiastic about the topic. Extra credit built in. Did not assign work during reading week, just gave practice problems that weren't for credit, contrary to another review Test review problems were pretty dissimilar to the exam, but the exam was multiple choice and had unlimited practice exams in that format. Use Piazza!
A lot of unnecessary work that I found unhelpful. She is very nice and caring. Her lectures are easy to follow and the reef points/ bonus points really helped one boost their grade.
Professor Adams teaches a tough course but gives you plenty of opportunities to boost your grade outside of exams (which are pretty straightforward.) Definitely can't get through this class through memorization, so utilize her extra help, TAs, and Piazza as much as you can and you'll get a solid grade. She's very smart and knows her stuff.
Prof. Adams is always very encouraging and sincere about her students doing their best. This class is hard but she's always very kind and gives many resources to help like note guides, extra practice, and Piazza; use them if you want a good grade. The 3 exams were MC but still pretty hard. Every week there's HW/a quiz, but iClicker points were EC.
The homework and practice problems are quite different to the actual exam, but she is very helpful is answering all questions. Extra credit is also offered. Piazza is used, allowing you to get answers to any questions you have.
Don't let these people fool you... if you want a good grade in this class then you really need to work for it. She's actually not a bad teacher but her exams are pretty tough and tricky. You need to be prepared to put in hours worth of preparation weekly including quizzes and homework assignments. Would not take it if you do not have to. Good luck
Great lecturer and nice lady overall. The class and exams are difficult but if you take good notes and read the textbook and do all the assignments it will be very manageable. Professor Adams is extremely organized and passionate about what she teaches so the course isn't as overwhelming as it could be as long as you stay on top of things.
I understand that it was a hard year to be a professor, but Leanne Adams made me want to drop out of the school of business multiple times last semester. She had no idea how to use technology, and her assignments did not prepare us for the exams at all. Try to take accounting with a different professor if accounting isn't your major.
This class was one of the most difficult classes that I have ever taken. The amount of workload and material that we are supposed to cover seems like a lot to take in especially due to the class being online as well as the exams being very difficult to take as you will have to prepare yourself immensely before taking it on.
Professor Adams does not set you up to succeed in her class, the material on the test is a lot harder than the practice and has many trick questions and answers like (None of the above) why would you even do that as a professor? to make sure your student taking the test struggles even more? I would not take her class ever again
One of the harder classes I have ever taken. There is a massive amount of homework due every week. The tests in this class are intense, especially when the professor does not set you up to succeed. She makes the test very hard and tricky so that you will do worse. I do not recommend this class to anyone, this class is good at stressing me out.
ACCT3265 aka the VITA Program is an initiative where students complete real tax returns for those who cannot afford to hire others to do it for them. The first few weeks are intense, but after that the class is easy and you make a real difference. The tax returns are very basic, others double-check your work, and the professor is VERY helpful.
ACCT2001 is by no means an easy course, but Prof. Adams made it more manageable with weekly reminders and numerous resources. Go to lectures to get those iClicker points (extra credit), you might need em. Tests were tough, and if you're struggling, definitely go to Prof./TA office hours. Piazza was helpful too since they answered pretty quickly.
Leanne is the best professor that I have had at UConn. She is so passionate about her students and wants everyone she teaches to succeed. Financial accounting is a tough class, but she is there to help you succeed if you just go see her for help. If you work hard and utilize her you will get a lot from this class. I switched to accounting after her
She's very nice, however workload is extremely heavy and the exams are somewhat not helpful with the situation. Pep exams are useful but sometimes info provided for pep isnt on the actual exam. She does care for her students to pass but I don't see it as much of a benefit from the way the class was taught.
She doesn't realize that students actually have lives outside of her class. Get ready to do hours and hours of mandatory work everyday.
Prof. Adams really makes you work with a heavy workload, but she has been one of the only professors that actually cares about her students. The work reinforces the material and if you are willing to work hard, you will succeed in her class.
Hard class in general; however, she does not make it any easier. Simply can not teach the material even though it is obvious she knows it. Homework for the week takes hours too. Exams are impossible. The homework is nothing like the exams either. Overall awful and she does nothing to make you prepared for how hard exams are.
Heres your chance to take a class that will consume hours of each day with homework and studying if you want any chance of passing an exam. You can easily get by and cheat on every homework because she's incredibly lazy and hasn't made new material in years, but then you will not pass the exams because she loves making students lives hard.
Before the semester started, I had read these reviews of Prof Adams and if I had any choice other than her I would've taken it, but she was the only Prof available for my class this semester. I can now see why everyone leaves a bad review, and all of them are spot on. Hours and hours of homework and terrible teaching. Exams are terrible as well.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
She literally acts like her class is the only class students have on their schedule. I have been doing hours and hours of homework every single day just for her class, and she always says, "You guys should appreciate that I am giving you resources to practice and give you the weekend off." WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD!!!!!
I joined this class to have a chance to study finance but she quickly made me rethink myself. I dont see a lot of professionalism from her, she continually notificate on EVERY little thing even two weeks before the semester. Moreover, she makes completely out of sense conversations in class. First exam a 64, then a 40s after ridiculously studying.
Fantastic Professor! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. The course requires a good amount of time, but it is really to help you learn. I recommend reading the book along with going to the lectures. Her lectures build off of the book and give you an opportunity to practice.
Worst professor at UCONN, she is so detail oriented when it comes to catching students cheating, but her TAs write better content than her when it comes to content relevant to exams. The homework is in no way related to the exam content, and the only things that help your grade are TA written study guides.
She is so focusing on find the student who is cheating. When she said that you are cheating because your eyes watch out of your screen, you better are. If not, you will be as mad as I am. I have no choice to choose the professor who teach this course, because she is the only one in this semester.
Her homeworks are nothing like the exams, and she doesn't prepare us for our exams at all! I study a lot, and always get good grades in all my classes but this class is my exception. She always says that the concepts are easy, which makes students feel like if they don't understand it they are stupid. When in reality it is super tough course!
Had to take the class for credit, ended up DROPPING it after she accused me of cheating on TWO exams, getting 0's for them both (and I did NOT). No way to convince her. You look down to write on paper during an exam and you're cheating. Way too much work and thinks she's inspirational, she's just confusing and disorganized. I BEG OF YOU TO AVOID
Professor Adams is hands down the worst professor I've ever had. She makes a difficult class so much harder. The homeworks literally have nothing to do with the exams. She is so paranoid about cheating that she made us change our masks to her own kind to take one of the exams! Please listen to the negative reviews on this site ... she is the WORST!
Do not take this class. Hear it from someone who did all the homework, went to every lecture, did every extra credit, went to office hours-- to get a C. I tried SO HARD to succeed but she enjoys when her students earn a 70 average for exams. Her philosophy is having the exams be nothing like the homework, so everyone struggles and fails. Worst.
This class has been the hardest I've taken at UConn. Leanne makes it very difficult to feel confident when you are studying for an exam. There is so much work and content gone over that doesn't relate to exams. Not to mention she goes ridiculously fast through PowerPoints (she posts them online but leaves stuff out). Avoid this class if you can!!!
Her tests are extremely difficult, especially if you are new to accounting, her tests do not correlate at all to the homework that is assigned making you not prepared for the exam type questions. I would not suggest this course at all, I even changed my major because of this class, this class caused me physical and mental distress.
Prepare to dedicate your life to this class. This was one of the most difficult classes I have taken thus far. DO NOT FALL BEHIND. Lots assignments (3 due each week). Even if I failed it I would take again at a community college and not with her.
if you want a low gpa take her course
I took 2 years of accounting in high school (intro and advanced), and this class still ended up being the hardest college course I have taken. She commonly says things such as "this is easy" or "you all should get this its simple/boring", which is very discouraging to hear when you are struggling on the topic. Lots of work and hard exams.
LOTS of work every week, so time consuming. Week before tests the cumulative reviews and smart books take forever. She acts like its our only/most important class. Tests arent bad just multiple choice, no partial credit. Theres extra credit with the smart books and iclicker though which is nice. Not awful Professor, just the class is so rough.
The weekly assignments aren't too bad, most of them can be found on quizlet or chegg. That being said, if you don't have chegg yourself, find someone that does. Her tests are ridiculously hard and don't have much to do with the homeworks at all, which is unfortunate because they count for so much of your grade. Avoid taking her class.
This class absolutely blew. The weekly assignments take a while to do, chegg is definitely a necessity. Leanne herself is kinda nutty, learned some useless information about her family that I can't unlearn. She's super paranoid about covid and has absolutely no chill when it comes to masks and anything of the sort. Crazy that she's allowed to teach
Leanne is a phenomenal professor and she really cares about her students. Her lectures have a lot of information so be prepared to take a lot of notes. If you dont understand something, reach out to her or the TAs and they will stop at nothing to make sure your questions get solved. Would 100% recommend Leanne to anyone interested in taking ACCT.
Professor Adams is my favorite professor here at UConn so far. She is kind and funny and caring. Her lecture notes are easy to understand and although the exams may be challenging, they are based on everything we learn in the class. Also, I agree the TAs stop at nothing to help all students that need it.
Leanne is very funny and very inspirational. She has quotes at the beginning of each class to get students motivated to learn. Her homework and exams are easy if you study and and seek extra help. I dont understand why people dislike her, its not her problem that people dont put the time and effort to do well in her class.
Attend her lectures and you wont be disappointed. Prof. Adams is a wonderful teacher and always there for any student that needs it. I would definitely take any class that she teaches because I know that it will be taught by someone that really cares about her students. :)
Her class is hard, like really hard. Everyone told me this class is one which makes people change majors, and I couldnt agree more. Only took this class because I had to for my major requirements, would not recommend you take it unless that is the case
This course is no joke: lots of work and difficult material. But Leanne is very kind and puts a lot of effort into lectures, is passionate about accounting, and really wants students to do well. Many students hate her, but more often than not those are students who do not put in the necessary work to do well. Overall a good class to take.
I actually really enjoyed this class! It was my first ever accounting class and I think Prof. Adams did a great job of providing material and walking you through it. I totally recommend reading the textbook chapter before class each week!!! This class is hard when you put in minimal effort, but put in the work + do extra credit and you WILL pass.
Its actually crazy this lady is even allowed to be a professor. Made everyone TAKE OFF their masks and PUT ON NEW ONES SHE PROVIDED to stop cheating. shes actually insane and even accused me of cheating after giving us ASSIGNED SEATS, DIFFERENT TESTS, NEW MASKS, and MADE US PUT OUR BACKPACKS ACROSS THE ROOM!
Cares about her students and offers lots of extra credit. Acct is a hard class no matter the teacher, but she gave us tons of practice to help us learn and she taught things in a pretty straightforward manner. The people who hated her were probably the ones who didnt put much work in, didn't do HWs, etc. If you put the effort in, you'll be good.
Professor Adams is a fantastic teacher. HW and in-class practice are not indicators of what tests will look like (practice exams are) rather they are more representative of manual accounting (knowing this WILL help). Hold yourself accountable for understanding the content. If you don't in the beginning, the difficulty will only compound on itself
I have taken ACCT 2001 and 3265 with Leanne and love her! I don't know why she gets so much hate from students (it's probably the students who don't go to lectures or do any work/studying). She makes it very easy to succeed with clear lectures, in-class practice problems that mimic those on the tests, and lots of practice homework.
Professor Leanne is very enthusiastic and engaging - she tries her best to engage students through offering extra credit and practice opportunities and has gone to such lengths as offering more office hours to those who needed it. I'm sure there are other great professors to take this course with but this is a taker for sure
This is a really hard course with a very strict instructor. I would never take her again.
Don't ever take this professor for your business class, it will mess up your GPA and business GPA. Have like five assignments due each week, and many questions go from 1a - 1d very long. Lots of lecture notes and goes really quickly without us even understanding it fully. There are 7 quizzes that are worth 10% each and with a final exam worth 20%.
This class is so difficult. Many of the quizzes are so unrelatable, something there are things you don't know that will be put into the quizzes. The instructor is very strict about everything which makes many student's life stressed. I would not take this class again.
Leanne is one of the best professors I've had. She gives so many resources, notes, and practice problems for every chapter and is accessible in office hours and during class practice. There is weekly homework, but the homework is all helpful and will prepare you for the quizzes. This is one of the classes that I actually look forward to going to.
The class was very tedious when it came to homework during the week. Quizzes are every 2 weeks and are taken over the weekend.
The instructor gives an unbelievable amount of homework and has lecture that covers a part of what we need to learn. We had to read through the textbook and learn the rest of the stuff that wasn't mentioned in class. I would recommend taking some other instructor that would make me a clearer understanding. or would switch out major to another.
I absolutely hate this class. there are quizzes every other week but only open on weekends. She is CRAZY when it comes to cheating. she constantly asks for feedback in the class but never implements any of it. going to lecture is pointless bc u have to teach urself everything. be prepared for countless hours of acct!
So far this semester, I've learned everything on my own because the lecture does not teach enough, and even going to IA and office hours hasn't helped. I usually spend a lot of time restudying and relearning from the textbook and lecture slides. If you are dealing with stress and anxiety, I would not recommend this class.
Her course is insanely difficult for it being 2001. She gives HW 3 times a week, worksheets in class, and insanely info packed lectures. None of which actually help with the quizzes. Even the practice quizzes she offers don't line up with the actual quiz. After the quizzes you can't even see what you got wrong, so good luck learning from mistakes.
There is a good amount of homework but she provides videos to help, you can ask her questions, and she will answer something very helpful. The quizzes only open on weekends, which isn't the best but she opens them on fridays. The quizzes are a lot easier if you read the material she tells you to and go over the in-class participation questions.
Lectures do not help as she tends to talk very quickly and gives very simplistic explanations to complex things. The assignments due three times a week are easy yet tedious and really don't help you on the quizzes which are challenging. Quiz/exam prep lacks and oftentimes has no carryover. Found her to be quite unprofessional, would not recommend.
Not the best professor here. Quite unprofessional at some point during the semester.
The course is challenging and has lots of homework to do. The quiz study guide is mostly useless because the study guide is not aligned with the quiz itself. I heard that teacher is very skeptical when it comes to cheating. Even though 90% of the classmate use another device or notes. The lecture slide is bad because she goes over the material fast.
If you are a good math student, this class will come easy. If not, you will do good if you study and go to all the lectures. It's easy to study for the tests with the TA sheet and a practice exam with questions similar to the quiz that you can take unlimited times.
She does not adequately prepare you for the bi-weekly quizzes. Homework and classwork are completely different from what is tested on. The professor is not willing to be a little accommodating during quizzes and the final. For example, does not allow you to have a formula sheet with you during quizzes or the cumulative final.
I actually hated her at first, but I went to her office hours. SO MUCH important information that you need to know, so I would recommend going to her office hours and really reading the textbook. Lowest grades get dropped and there is a lot of extra credit. I don't recommend taking this class if you do not have the time.
Lots of time spent on your own learning material. IA office hours were helpful. Homework each week NOT helpful for quizzes, focus on practice quizzes, worksheets and concepts in textbook! You learn a new chapter each week, bi-weekly quizzes. Lowest quiz grade gets dropped. Put work in in beginning & do well on quizzes to have buffer for final.
I did not find her lectures helpful and taught myself the information before quizzes. The quizzes were not easy and required a decent amount of studying to do well (6 quizzes, every other week). 3 homework assignments are due each week but aren't hard and are mainly found online. She offers extra credit and drops the lowest quiz and homework grades
Hard class. Very strict with lockdown browser. Has IAs to watch student's environment check. Does offer a platform for instructors and students to help others that have problems with questions.
When I first read the reviews, I was really worried to take this class. Honestly, Leanne is one of the best professors I've ever had. She knows the class is hard, so she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. She is also so understanding. Go to her office hours and you will do so well. Also make sure to do smart book and practice quizzes.
Leanne gets a bad wrap from a lot of people but I loved this class. This class provides a ton of useful information that will be used outside of college. Leanne made these topics fun to learn and easy to comprehend, not just for a test but for use in the outside world. It is a good amount of work to get an A, but this class is worth it.
I was extremely nervous to take this course. Accounting is hard and these reviews seemed negative. I can honestly say Leanne was one of the most caring Professors I ever had. All you need to do is ask for some help if you need it, and she is willing to make sure you understand any concept. Attend IA Hours, and if need be attend her OH.
Lots of concepts to memorize, homework-heavy, and in-person exams that are proctored in a really weird way.
Her new grading criteria has made her an amazing professor. If you attend class and do all the homework and study hard for the exams, you will do well. She cares about her students and she wants you to succeed. Office hours with the IA's are a must if you dont understand, the class is very fast paced.
She is a good but challenging professor. If you show up to class and pay attention, you will succeed in this class.
If you want a good accounting grade do not bother with this professor. First she teaches nothing in lectures besides brief info on each topic. There are quizzes every other week, you will be studying for those longer than most exams. The HW is unrelated to quizzes. U need Chegg for HW. Extra help is useless. Expect nothing above a B on quizzes
Really helpful professor. Show up to class, do the in-class worksheets, and do the homework and you shouldn't have any problem doing well. She offers plenty of resources if you do not understand a concept which helped a lot.
This class is a lot of work - but Leanne is one of the most genuine souls out there. She is so sweet and accommodating, and the class has resources to make sure you can do well. Extra credit questions asked every class, as well as extra credit for going to office hours. Plenty of extra help available almost every day.
She is passionate about her material and is very willing to help. There is a lot of tedious homework/biweekly quizzes, making the class difficult, but if you pay attention in lecture and try (don't look up answers) for your assigned work then you can succeed. Though this class is annoyingly difficult, she provides many resources to aid students.
SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR. if you want to pass you just need to do the unlimited attempts homework, go to class, and go to office hours. If you go to office hours she will get to know you, and make sure you succeed.
It is very hard to get an A, all quizzes need to be in person with Lockdown, she has so many students so she doesn't offer private meetings. Many assignments are about basic concepts, but the quizzes are more difficult.
In person quizzes and exam with lockdown browser; 3 assignments per week, she's nice but too much homework is NOT okay
Probably the worst structured course I have taken at this University. There are 3 homework's per week, and the lectures do not really provide help for them. You are still learning new things the day before the quizzes. As someone who had a heavy load this semester, it just did not work. She is a kind person, but the class was not well organized.
I cannot stress enough how kind Leanne is as a person. However, this course was the most difficult one I've taken during my time here. 10+ hours of homework a week that do not help at all with the biweekly lockdown browser quizzes. Lectures are not helpful, either. The TA's for my section were very dismissive.
Leanne is great. Her TA Nick was kinda rude and very difficult to work with.
Leanne is an awesome person but this class will take something from you. The lectures are basically pointless but you have to go to get the participation. She talks at you rather than teach you. She tries to give you a lot of help but none of it is the right help. Three homework assignments a week that take 5+ hours and correlate nothing to quizzes
Leanne says she wants to help her students but if you go to meet with her she'll just say "we'll get you on track" and leave you with that. She will not curve quiz or exam grades even if the whole class fails. This was the worst class I have taken.
I don't know why Leanne gets such a bad rating! She is very passionate when teaching, and her lectures are very helpful. Lots of handouts and interaction between TAs, so the material is easier to understand. Biweekly quizzes and 3 HW assignments a week can be annoying though. A hard class, but a good professor. Work hard, and you will be fine!!!!
A decent amount of work each week, but made me understand the material and was beneficial. She was super nice and accomidated for people who could not take the quizzes on that day, allowing you to take it remote. Lot of quizzes, she drops the lowest grade for pretty much every category. Only professor I actually learned from this semester.
The best professor I have had at UConn so far. Leanne truly cares about her students and is passionate about the topic. Her team of TA's was very helpful and always accessible. This course will make you work and can be alot at some points, but if you put in the work you will experience the reward.
I truly think the reason Leanne's ratings vary so much is because of the course material itself, not her as a professor. I think she's a fantastic professor but there's no doubt that this class is one of the toughest I will take here at UConn. Go to office hours and ask for help if you need it and do not let yourself fall behind-you won't catch up.
This class starts off pretty easy then really picks up about halfway or 2/3 into the semester. The homework was often more confusing than the bi-weekly quizzes. I strongly recommend doing the practice quizzes and study the explanations and you'll do fine on the quizzes. The final was also a breeze. Not a fan of her TA Nick
You will doubt her methods but if you show up to lecture and do your work, there is no reason you should get below a B. Leanne empowers you to succeed and learn something, as well as being a great professor who cares about her students. Practice quizzes are very similar to the biweekly quizzes so just spam those out on Wednesday or Thursday.
Aweful, don't take. Take this at a community college and transfer the credit. Literally the most stressful 4 months of my life.
Very test-heavy course, however, if you study you will do fine! Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are participation points for extra credit, which is helpful for your grade. Leanne is a wonderful professor and I cannot imagine taking the course with anyone else. She knows her stuff and is proficient in the world of accounting.
I absolutely love Leanne and she's my favorite prof! Show up to lecture and be ENGAGED! Follow along with the worksheets and practice questions. Homework is due 3x a week; 6 biweekly quizzes are given through lockdown browser. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE REVIEW MATERIALS!! The smartbook assignments and practice quizzes are an absolute must when studying!
Leanne Adams is an amazing professor. She is like a parent ensuring that all her students succeed. She effortlessly continues to try to help her students by enough resources for students to use to help them succeed with their quizzes they take. Taking her class helps set up your foundation in learning the necessary material for accounting.
As much as she cares about her students, the way she does in class lectures and exams actually need to be looked at. I studied so hard for some of these exams and still got the grades that I got on the ones I didn't study. Honestly, if you can find another professor do it! Unless you've taken accounting in highschool!
I got a 40, 45, 50 and a 70 on the six quizzes for the semester. Sounds bad? Still ended with a B getting a 90 on the final. If you want to actually learn accounting take this class. Not hard to get a B AT ALL. So much extra credit and you get a drop quiz.
Leanne's ACCT2001 class is challenging, but worth the effort. Go to lectures, do the practice quizzes, and Unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool. With dedication, you can succeed and learn a lot. This professor cares about student learning.
Professor Adams is very caring and wants to help her students as much as possible. There is a good amount of homework but the assignments really help with understanding the concepts. There are 6 bi-weekly quizzes and one gets dropped, and opportunities for extra credit. Take this class with her if you can!!
Leanne is a nice person and easy to talk to but the way that the exams are weighted in comparison to the work assigned, they matter a lot. My exams were always at 8am so that also affected my performance but the content was a lot and the questions were always asked from a different approach than what we practiced in class. Lowest exam is dropped.
Professor Adams is by far the best professor I have had during my time at UConn. She truly cares about each and every one of us, and she wants to see us succeed. This class is difficult, but it is manageable. Everything in life is difficult if it's worth anything. I can't wait to do VITA with her next semester!
Everyone who rates her poorly is because in Suzannes class she lets people cheat. I get if this is just a req for your major, but Leanne makes sure you know your stuff. It is a difficult class, but you have to put the effort in. People hate her because she makes you work for the grade you want. Go to TA office hours. do extra credit. You will pass.
Leanne is one of the best professors I've had at UConn! Although the class is mostly graded on the 6 quizzes (lowest dropped), she gives A LOT of review materials with questions that are similar to the quizzes, so there were no big surprises once it's time to take the quiz. Definitely go to the review sessions and do the practice quizzes.
Leanne is a good teacher and a good program. She offers a ton of homework which can be annoying, however in the end it's for the best.
Leanne is a really good and caring professor, This is a hard class with tons of assignments every week. There are weekly quizzes on two chapters every other week which means for about 3 of the quizzes you learn new content the day before the quiz. you need to "make this class your life" to get a good grade but it will pay off. USE THE TA'S!!
do not rely on cheating to get you through this class. the bi-weekly quizzes which are the most important part of this class they are in-person on-lockdown browsers with at least 5 TAs proctoring at all times. study the material alot and know it inside and out and you'll be fine.
Lots of homework but she's a great lecturer and felt like I really learnt a lot. Quizzes are very heavy and participation and doing the homework pays off. Hard class but there are plenty of resources to make it work.
I went into this class very nervous but she made accounting easy to understand. Homework's were very helpful and graded by completion basically. Six quizzes, 20 MC each. extra credit for going to office hours. No midterm, final was 50 MC of recycled quiz questions. Love how she teaches and cares about students, would def take her again.
Leanne is actually a great professor and knows what she is doing. I know that three assignments a week on top of a quiz every other week might sound like a lot, but if you take the time to do the assignments on your own and learn from them, it will cut back on study time. Do the practice quizzes for every exam. The final is all the quiz questions.
Leanne is not only a great instructor but a nice person. She genuinely cares about her students, and does everything she can help them succeed. The TAs were so helpful and they were are a great resource for students! Having 6 quizzes and a final instead of three midterms made us to keep up with the material and made sure we didn't fall behind.
She is a great teacher and manages the large lectures very well. She is very strong-willed and wants the best for her students. And there was a 4% extra credit.
going to lecture and office hours extra credit. quizzes are HARD and worth all of your grade pretty much. she is nice and means well, but in order to do well in this class you have to study OVERTIME outside of the classroom. class doesnt matter its about how much time u spend outside of the class. TAs are awesome, super helpful
Professor Adams is AWESOME!! She had so much passion and great energy that it made me excited to learn. Her class was pretty difficult, but she provided so many resources to help her students out. She really wants to see her students succeed. The workload seems like a lot, but it is really to help you in the class. I highly recommend her :)
Don't take her. She decided when to cut your grades whenever. Talks very rudely to everyone and just isn't a nice person.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She's extremely mean and gets annoyed very easily.
Don't take this prof.
Professor Adams is an amazing person. She truly tries to help everyone. You can get extra credit for going to the TA office hours and for participation in class. The 6 quizzes, which make up the majority of your grade, are really hard, but doable if you study properly. There is also a lot of homework every week. I really liked this course.
Really hard class but if you really put in the work you will be okay. a lot of assignments that are annoying but they are easy points that help your grade. quizzes every other week means always studying. she really tries her best tho to give you lots of resources for help. go to TA office hours!
The class itself was pretty difficult, but she taught it well. Alot of homework (but it REALLY does help you learn it). Lectures were helpful to me. Gives good feedback if you ask and there are no dumb questions!
Accounting is one of the worst classes at UCONN but if you have to take it Leanne will MAKE you learn it. Easily the best prof for this course by far.
Its accounting so not much can be done about that, she makes the class so you have to learn the material, multiple homework assignments per week and biweekly quizzes. If you care about your studies and are willing to put your nose to the grindstone you'll be okay.
A lovely teacher who cares about the success of her students. ACCT 2001 is taught very efficiently, but be ready to study for quizzes since they make up the largest chunk of your grade. Professor Adams is nice and encourages the success of her students and makes extra credit clear at the start of the semester.
She's extremely unrealistic... Each homework takes ages to finish. 3 of them a week. She acts like this is the only class you have due to the amount of studying a day you have to do. She is nice and does care about her students but then again, it's also hard to feel that way when she just piles work on top of you every week. Would never take again.
such a nice lady and wants the best for her students! notes videos to watch over the weekend, two homework assignments every week and a chapter quiz every other week- you only have class on friday when you have a quiz. might seem like a lot of work but its honestly helpful to learn everthing. she and the TAs are all great at explaining things.
Leanne is a really sweet lady who wants her students to well and gives a LOT of resources. However, be prepared for 3 relatively long homework assignments per week with difficult quizzes every other week worth 10% of your grade. You can do well but you definitely need to put in the time and effort studying every week.
Her class sucks
Wow, she is just the best. Class isn't recommended for freshman but if you lock in, you will do great. She is so motivated about accounting, so kind, and has such a strong TA team as well. Participation isn't mandatory but GO TO CLASS. You get extra credit for answering questions she goes over in class. You also have a lot of quizzes but 1 drop.
Super nice and caring professor. The class is known to be hard because of the heavy homework and frequent quizzes, but the lowest quiz is dropped. You need to know the concepts well to succeed. She's very accessible, and her office hours really help as she patiently answers homework and quiz questions or is simply there to talk.
Yes, there is a lot of work, and it can be tedious. Accounting has a lot of content, but she does a great job teaching it. Can be cheesy at times, but she's genuinely one of the nicest professors here. Lots of TAs for office hours, and overall a manageable class. Go to class!!!
Like you will have to study to do good... Nice prof but TA are chill and helpful. Really good teacher if you actually want to learn accounting and really understand the fundamentals.
Class is obviously difficult, however she gives adequate resources to succeed. As long as you put time in outside of class to fully grasp the concepts before the quizzes, it's doable. Comes off as bubbly during lectures but can be a little harsher during exams.
