She's very helpful, easy to understand..but she speaks too long and it makes it boring sometimes
She speaks far too long, repeats herself, spends too much time on slides that are short and not enough on ones that are long. Beyond that she is a pain to listen to.
She can't remember what she said from one second to the next; haven't heard one complete thought out of her. Trying to follow and keep up is impossible. If I ever encountered her in a boardroom I would get up and leave. I think she spends way too much time with her two kids and has been 'babytized'. Laurier Profs standards are sinking!
I don't think this prof is bad at all. She does get carried away sometimes, but considering that she is new to Laurier she is pretty good compared to so many others that I had in the past. She is willing to help, and explains things as much as she can, and if she doesn't know some things, she writes them down and answers them the following day.
no comment...what more can i say...that hasn't been said already?

pretty good teacher, but its hard to understand what she's saying sometimes.
The lecture slides that Leanne gives us are pretty good. I dont take notes in class, I just study from the slides and I did well in the course. Her midterms and exams are fair..I wouldn't say it's easy but at the same time its not difficult. She sometimes has interesting stories to tell during lectures that relates to what we're learning.
Being a first year student, Leanne was a really helpful professor. I could ask her questions in and after lectures and she was always willing to help me during her office hours. You need to go to lectures because she purposely doesn't include things in the slides until lecture time. Exams are fair and she gives good exam reviews.
Come on...who you kidding? Leanne Hagarty is a wing nut!!!
Amazing prof, but for a very hard course. She is very helpful and is more willing than the average prof to go out of her way to help you. Interacted with the class a lot. The TA was very strict though, which didn't fit at all with Leanne's style. Do the practice questions, otherwise you won't do well. EXAMS ARE VERY HARD.
leanne is an awesome prof. the course material is not as tricky as everyone makes it out to be. Her lectures are easy to follow, and very detailed- very prepared.
cute sense of humour, visit her during office hours and she'll be very helpful.
I would comment on her lecture if I had time to listen! I was to busy filling in the slides! That's the only thing I didn't like about her, she leaves the slides half blank for you have to fill in as she went along, which wasn't very useful since she expected you to listen and copy down the notes at the same time.
really enjoyable lecture
A really really hard class, her lecture slides were very detailed. She left slides blank so you had to come to class and she had so much information on her slides that you barely had time to copy it all. Always yelled at people for talking in her lectures.
With Leanne you get what you put in. Yes she centres out those who are disruptive but perhaps this is for those students who are trying to learn! Very approachable and helpful. If you are struggling use the opportunity that she presents for extra marks!
best prof I've had!!
She is a great prof
Awesome
Hilarious Prof. She tries to make lectures interesting. Really nice. Midterm was really difficult though
gret prof! really fair
2group projects 1stockmarket competition 2midterms.Prof is nice but not enough to make class interesting.Always leave part of the slides empty tobe filled in class Really need to be able to write&listen at the same time and making notes of what she says if important. Unfair marking of presentation but she's not the course coordinator.
One of the best teachers Ive had. Very helpful, have her again for BU121.
Amazing Prof. Had her for the new version of BU111. Always there for her students and tried to keep them engaged. I went to several of her office hours and she was very very helpful. If BU111 was not so hard, I would definitely take more of her classes.
She's a great prof but the course its self is BRUTAL! There's a lab for the course, and it's so much work; so many assignments due every week! I spent most of my time on this course and only got a B... all my other courses I got A's.
Most helpful and approachable teacher. Does her best to help you. Tough classes and content however.
Love Leanne, hate the course. BU111 is brutal.
Leanne is a great teacher.
Stopped class all the time at the slightest hint of noise, which was really annoying. Course was difficult, but fair.
Awesome teacher, loved going to that class and it really helped me understand the material, never opened the textbook once and still did well.
The course requires a lot of work and effort, and it is not easy. Prof herself is good though.
Love HER! She's an absolutely amazing prof - my favourite by far! She actually cares whether or not you do well - don't be afraid to go to her office hours! She's super friendly, approachable and wants to help! THE MIDTERM WAS BRUTAL - GO TO CLASS.. THE CLASS WAS ALL LECTURE BASED! Don't bother reading the textbook - it's useless!
One of the best professors I have had so far! Her teaching style keeps you engaged and interested in the material. The midterm has a lot a content to memorize, but if you go to class and memorize all the slides you'll do really well! Definitely look forward to taking more of her classes! Leanne you're amazing!
Leanne was almost mom-like...she was very concerned with helping first year students. Her lectures were alright...the content was very boring and she made it slightly more interesting, but not by much.
The course material is really boring but she explains it clearly. She is a good teacher but don't take this course if you don't have to!
Love her. She is really engaging and friendly. The things she says at the lectures might seem to be obvious at that point but if you take note of those, they will be super helpful and clarify a lot of the slides. So make sure you attend classes and I recommend recording the lectures if it's a bit hard to follow up with her.
Great prof!!! Very clear and concise. Let's you know exactly what will be on the exams. Would have her again in a heartbeat!!! :D
Leanne is absolutely wonderful. She is very clear with all the topics and explains everything very well! She really cares about her students and it definitely shows! Made me interested in the material!
Leanne was clear and interesting when lecturing. Her slides are useful but you need to add to them when you go to lectures. She is friendly and helpful
Literally the sweetest lady ever. Such a great prof, she's incredibly approachable, super clear when speaking, and she actually expresses care for the students. Highly recommend taking classes that she teaches. Also pretty hot.
haha lectures were a joke. so many mistakes explaining things, forgets content all the time...i could've taught this course better. No graduate degree either, she is barely more educated than I will be in 3 years.
Amazing prof! Favourite prof of first year, better than Laura or Sofy IMO. Easy to listen to and explains things well. Hope I have her again. Class is a bit tough though, and you have to go to class and take notes on top of the lecture slides. Only read the textbook before the midterm and final.
She is terrible and i would not take her again. Legit, not even there for you
She does her best to make the material interesting, because the course is very dry and boring. The midterm test for bu111 was also very hard. Study in advance for it if you want to do half-decent.
BU111 is a course designed to be tough and Leanne is just doing her job. She always kept students up to date with upcoming assignments and extra help sessions. BU111 is boring in itself and Leanne has made an attempt to make lectures less boring. Good professor at a good pace.
Pretty long winded but that shows that she cares for the students :)
She made the lectures interesting with different ways to keep the class awake. The slides are really empty so you need to go to class to get the content.
Leanne is a great professor. She geniunley cares about the students, and makes an effort to keep students engaged in the course. Would take again!
Great prof, best possible teacher you can have for BU111. Very accessible outside of class. If your taking BU111, Leanne is the best prof there is ! However attendance is virtually mandatory, she takes notes of who attends and its easy to get on her good side if you do. She will call out people in class who never pay attention or disrupt class.
She explains concepts quite well, and you need to take notes on what she says. Just reading the slides will do you no good, so you must attend lecture. Leanne also was very understanding compared to the other business profs and it was a pleasure to be in her class. She even gave me a small boost to the next grade point for doing clickers!
3rd year student taking BU111 - hands down best prof I've had. Explains all the concepts SO well. Very engaging, easy to listen to, ignited my passion to pursue business. Seriously a gem of a prof - Showing up to lectures is necessary but she is amazing. Study, put in the work, don't expect the class to be easy. But do not hesitate for a second!
Leanne is hands down one of the best profs I've ever had at Laurier. Her lectures are interesting and she is such a nice person. I absolutely bombed the midterm and I thought I did really well, I went to go see her and she broke down my midterm and encouraged me to keep my head up. I killed the final because of her help. Get her as a prof !
Leanne is literally like a mom, super nice, super smart. Class is hard but she's around to help and is really good at responding to emails. When the course started to involve math she freaked out a little because she's not very comfortable with it. Had her for an 8:30 lecture and though it was tough getting up she made it worth it.
Although 8:30 am lectures were rough and I almost fell asleep numerous times, Leanne made it a bit more bearable. She gives good explanations during lectures but if you are unsure about a concept, talk to her at office hours. She is one of the most caring professors I've met so far and I can't wait to see her again for BU121.
I didn't really go to class but when I did she gave good examples.
Worst professor I've ever had. I've never seen someone pretend to care but actually care so little about their students than her. Loads you with work and laughs when you crumble. She gives you no direction on how to do things and when she does it ends up being wrong and leaving you with more questions. Girl bye.
Leanne was my absolute favourite first year professor. She cares about her students and it shows in the way she teachers. She truly wants nothing but the best for her students - I would absolutely take any class with Leanne as the professor!
great prof! love her teaching style as both in person and recorded lectures, she does use iclicker so make sure you are in class to get some fairly easy marks. her weekly checklists are well put together so if you follow them you will pass!
10/10 WOuld recommend. LOve Hagarty. Super lovely individual, she only asks that you try and put the work in. Never a dull moment, truly helped when asked, also a night owl responded at 11 and sometimes midnight. Does clickers in lectures, so I would recommend that you attend.
Leanne was a good prof during our in-person lecture (not as much when I had her online for half the semester). She was very good at answering questions, either during or after the lecture.
Leanne was a great professor! She was very engaging during her lectures and also very kind. I enjoyed her class a lot and I think she was a big part of the reason.
She is lovely
Leanne was very engaging during lectures and always connecting lectures to real world examples. She was able to answer any questions any students had with clarity. Be sure to attend lectures and take detailed notes as it will benefit you during midterms and finals. Like any class, in order to succeed you have to put in the work.
Very sweet woman but sometimes would go on a little too long in lecture about a topic and we would get behind the other prof. She did explain everything quite well though and was very engaging.
Leanne is very nice and fair. This course is a relief after taking Bu111 but you still have to put in a fair amount of work. Not really any complaints other than the class was pretty boring. I don't really blame Leanne for that.
all you need to know is 2 words, sloppy toppy
absolutely useless. teaching grade 6 level english as a "business course". acts like a middle school teacher as well, asking students to see her after class. everyone talks about how much better this class is than bu111, but sofy is 10x the prof leanne is, and the class was much more straightforward.
Gatekeeps content from slides garbage teacher
horrible professor. midterm average was a 54. highest grade was a 85. clearly not the students' fault if no one could even get above an A- on the midterm. gatekeeps the slides from students so she can boost up her attendance numbers and expects you to remember every minuscule detail in the exact wording that she gives you.
We're taught how to be critical thinkers and healthy skeptics i.e the idea that we must consider different viewpoints and perspectives based on evidence when engaging with new ideas. But the marking scheme for the midterm was so objectively based; they wanted such specific answers. 1/2 the kids failed and the highest mark was an 85
The 54% median on the midterm this year is literally all you need to know about her. You get docked 100% of the mark on the short answers unless your answer matches 110% with her answer sheet. She is very mean to her student in lecture as if she had it against us in the very beginning. With the way they graded the midterm you are lucky if you pass.
This professor by far is the worst teacher ever she does not know how to teach and absolutely does not know how to mark, how is an average for a critical thinking midterm 52 percent. Please fire her
very very bad
completely unfair marking scheme. I don't even think she could get above an 85 on her midterm. if you don't match what she said in passing in lecture 100% you will receive a 0 on the question.
just no
Gave everyone a bad mark on the 121 midterm because she's mad her business is failing. L leanne hope you go broke
worst prof ive ever had very clearly does not care about her students
There's a reason Leanne starts with an L! Im going to get kicked out of the BBA program because my mark was so low on the midterm. Unfair marking scheme and is a rude professor. A student asked a question about the grading on the midterm and she essentially laughed at him!
Illogical and off topic expect critical thinking not business
The grading criteria were stupidly strict, even though the first chapter was "critical thinking" teaching us that there's no "one right answer"?!?!?!
Respectfully f*ck you
Boooooooooooooooo
Let me give it you straight, she fvckin sucks. She is an absolute cvnt job. No idea how she got hired, maybe slept her way to the top with her saggy a$$ tit$.
Extremely restrictive marking style which led to a really poor average (
Brutal, disengaging, rude, annoying
Leanne fails to fairly grade exams and deflects questions when asked about course grades. Furthermore, her lectures are very boring as she spends most of her time trying to complicate simple concepts that are mostly just common sense.
Concepts are fine but really hard marking which makes it impossible do amazing on the exams
Overall, she is a good person and somebody who works hard, but her grading method for the BU121 midterm was unfair and unreasonably strict.
Honestly, she wasn't the worst prof ever but boy was she ever boring. Lectures are terribly slow and are made up by her overcomplicating easy concepts. I'd rather watch grass grow than Leanne's lectures. Simple topics but a cynical marking scheme made for a 50% average on the midterm. Still possible to do well since projects are so easily marked.
Not a bad professor, but there are two main things that she should change: a) better clarity in marking schemes and assignment expectations b) posting post-lecture slides so students have further information to refer from
Not a bad person but grades incredibly hard, nearly impossible to get all marks on midterms/finals. Attendance mandatory as questions will be asked relating to lecture content. Over-hated prof but get ready to be disappointed on your tests
She's a really nice prof, always there to support you. The lecture slides are left partially blank so you have to attend them to see the completed version of slides. Assignments are decent and marked fairly whereas the exams have a difficult marking scheme which require you to memorize a lot of content. The course average this time was a B-
Professor Leanne was a pretty great lecturer in my opinion. She taught the material well and did a great job clarifying questions. She was also really nice. I know she got a lot of flack for the midterm grading criteria but she made the final a lot more lenient. As a lecturer she is great.
very bad im still not over it
This was by far the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten fired by now based on how many people genuinely hate her. Her cynical marking rubrics are crushing the spirits of first year students at Laurier. How does she have a job? The average grade in her class is a fail.
Really enjoyed her lectures and thought she was super kind.
Professor Hagarty genuinely cares about her students. Attend lecture when required and you will do fine
Leanne is a decent prof. You can tell she is passionate in what she teaches, but the course itself is a bunch of bs and fuflah so get ready to experience some brain rot.
The course is a bunch of bs, it is more of an english course, not a business course. The profs teaching style is so confusing, she overcomplicates simple terms while it could easily be learned. Also, the midterm grading criteria is so unfair. If "there is no right or wrong answer" hows the class average for a critical thinking exam a 58??🤨
58% midterm average and she was happy about it, said it was an improvement from the 52% average last year. terrible marker
Well, let me tell you something, you have to pass the midterm or final in order to pass the class, but with the strict marking criteria of hers, its impossible to do well on both, like are you crazy? It looks like she is purposely marking things wrong, and I believe she does this only to see you suffer, the 57% average on the final says a lot.
She was very accommodating when i was going through a death in the family which I will not forget how she made it easy during such a difficult time in my life
Professor Hagarty's class is challenging but engaging. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try Unstuckstudy for great study tools - you'll do well if you put in the work.
She tryna convince us that what she teaches is real.
I don't know if it is the course or if it is the professor but it seems like both just want you to fail and drown in misery.
Leanne is an excellent professor and an extremely kind-hearted woman. She genuinely wants to see her students succeed, is very accommodating, and very knowledgeable. Hands down my favourite first year prof. Wish all BU courses were taught by her! She is also EXTREMELY clear how assignments and exams are graded and the expectations (unlike Bu111)
If you attend lectures, the midterm and final are easy; if you do not, goodluck. One of the questions legit asked was what someone said in a lecture, and you need to write their name and your lecture section to get mark.
Lectures are not engaging, students talk over her at times like she's not the professor of the whole class. Pretty wild to see. Marking scheme for this course is very weird and 55% on the exams is considered good (keep in mind this is business not physics).
Wasnt incredibly bad. But give no practice for midterms or finals, yah they give us review guides but does it hurt to give actual potential questions. Its extremely broad, however leanne is nice.
She is a very dull teacher who teaches even more boring concepts. Everyone who took the course realized her lectures were useless and wasted after the midterm. Minimal note taking and, more than necessary, talking is familiar with all of her lectures. It sets you up and prepares you horribly for all exams and assignments.
Most people dislike this class bc they think its stupid but if you actually pay attention in class/labs it is easy to get good grades. Memorizing key terms is crucial for exams but if you can do that, lightwork. She is so kind and one of the best professors at Laurier.
Attending her lectures felt like serving a sentence.
She led the development of BU 121 as it was completely redesigned from prior years. The course content was ~80% useless and unbacked AI theory. Labs, especially if your IA was bad, were badly designed and overly stressful. Get through the course as it's likely required for your program, but it won't be fun nor rewarding.
Super boring class would never take again
