Lech is literally Indiana Jones! They don't pay this guy enough, he's fantastic! Go to all the night classes, take good notes. He really wants you to do well. The midterm was a little too much on exact dates, not enough on people or inventions, but just memorize and you'll do well.
Best class that I've taken this past semester.Nothing beats having Indiana Jones as a prof, and that's exactly what Lech is.
AMAZING. This guy is crazily knowledgeable and probably one of the best profs I have ever had. This guy has been there, done that, known that, and you can feel his enthusiasm in this class. Take this class if you have a chance and need the credits. Highly recommended.
Very good professor. You must go to class as he will test specifically on that material. Chooses interesting films to show (but not test on). Very animated, very good lecturer. If you have the chance, take this class.
Had Lech for HIST 391. Great prof. Really passionate about what he teaches & great stories. Doesn't use a textbook or post notes, just his lecture slides in class. Gives plenty to time for you to write everything down, and will always wait if you ask for more time. Tests consist of MC, T/F, fill in the blank, short & long answer. Pure memorization
who knew history could be so subjective. his opinion is the only valid one. heads up
The single most interesting person I've ever met. Going to his lectures are an absolute joy. There's no textbook or online notes, so attendance is mandatory. I took ~3000 words worth of notes per class, all of which are fair game on exams (just a midterm and final - no papers). If you're good at memorizing you'll do very well. Overall, great prof.
Fantastic and interesting class, I was concerned it was going to be really boring and taught by some old guy with a beard. But instead we got a young interesting prof who made a lot of this old stuff really neat. Need to class, because there is no text and he doesn't post notes. But it's worth it to go because it is so interesting.
Fantastic prof. Very engaged, helpful and really cares about his students. If you care enough to ask he'll take all the time to help you out. Won't help you if you don't help yourself. Wish I could've taken more classes with him
Fantastic prof!! He loves teaching history and has many interesting stories and keeps you engaged and interested during classes. No textbook, his exams are fill in the blank and only cover his notes so come to class. Pay attention in class and review a little bit the exams are easy. Also no assignments! Just the midterm and final. Great Prof!!
If taking a class taught by Indiana Jones himself sounds splended to you, then take HIST 391 with Lech! It was one of the most interesting classes that I've taken at University.
This guy is awesome. Too bad the university is canceling his course...
Great guy. Changed the exam last min to essay BUT was there like 3 or 4 times to review your essays and gave you comments. The class is NOT cancelled it is just dropping to a 100 level course now. Still take it man I LOVED you will find out how PLOW CHANGED THE WORLD hahahh
I can't take another class from this guy. The mark was based entirely on the midterm and final, which is fine as long as you're really good at memorization. He also taught stuff that was completely wrong, and refused to correct it even when presented with evidence. A parrot would do well in this class.
Do not take history courses with this man if you like history or major in it. His tests are based entirely on trivia (dates of events, names of obscure figures and items) and there is no room for debate with him. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience due to how terribly constructed his exams were, and the minutiae he tested on.
Excellent prof with excellent stories to tell. I looked forward to his class every Wednesday and they were always engaging. He made a 3 hour lecture pass by relatively quickly. This is however a strictly memorization based course, so it may not be for everyone. He is a generous marker on essay portions of the course though. Average: 3.0
What happens is you have two conflicting feelings about him after finishing the course 1) he is a great dude, he is interesting, loves what he does and makes you really want to come to class and take in his stories/lectures, 2) His tests are ridiculous. he has to make the test hard, cuz we all love his class, but he makes you resent him for it. hmm
Wow. THE best prof I have ever had. Class was fascinating and I always looked forward to attending. Exams and paper were not too hard if you study/read the book. Quite a bit of memorization of years/names/events/inventions. Great stories about his countless adventures, like a real life Indiana Jones! I'd do anything to take another class with him.
Infuriating for a history major. This class is designed for engineers who take it....not arts majors. It almost all memorization, small percentage is given to critical thought and essays. History is not about the memorization of exact dates. Interesting guy and enjoyed his theories but unfortunately not designed for arts majors.
Amazing prof. It's really sad that the university might not have the money to keep him around. Hopefully he will still be around in the feature.
Very funny guy and has tons of great stories about his discoveries. Makes 3 hour night classes go by quick
Lech is an amazing prof! I took this class during the spring semester and his enthusiasm and passion for history made the 3 hour lectures fly by (not to mention all his pictures on his Powerpoint slides). His midterm and final are very straightforward if you put in the time to study. 10/10 would take again!
This guy is a beauty. Makes something really boring interesting. You can tell he really enjoys teaching. Class average was a 2.5, but clearly the majority of the class didn't study. If you actually studied the tests were really easy and straightforward. 10/10 Would recommend this prof.
Phenomenal prof. His enthusiasm is infectious and I really looked forward to class. he was able to make even the most boring material fascinating so no matter what class he's teaching I'd suggest taking it.
Good prof, really enjoys the subject and it shows in his lecture. Would take him again in the future
Dr. Lebiedowski is fantastic. He covers the material in a concise and interesting manner and shows his passion for the subject every lecture. His exams are extremely straightforward and very fair. Make sure to take good notes and you will be fine. I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
He doesnt post notes online so you pretty much have to go to every class, but I find it easier to understand and memorize to listen to his stories and take notes. Exams are based on the materials in class so no surprises. Good class overall.
Absolute legend. I looked forward to my night class with him more than I looked forward to the weekend. His last lecture was like a twist in a movie when he linked the entire course to our everyday lives and honestly had me in awe. Only issue was that his exams were very slavic (grammar mistakes) and were almost exclusively memorization. 1010 3
It's like taking a class with Indiana Jones. He cares about his students and made a long class super interesting (it's the first class I've never skipped). He taught the class for engineers, if you can memorize at all you'll be fine.
Best history prof ever. I highly recommend him for his style of teaching and passion. His exams are fair, must attend lectures and study ahead of time.
The guy clearly knows his stuff, he doesn't even have notes that he refers to. He's also actually conducted research on many of the topics he discusses. Go to class, take good notes, get an A+.
Dr. Lebiedowski really knows what he teaches. A lot of his images have himself with historical artifacts, and he even brings some of these artifacts to class. Pretty cool
Dr. Lebiedowski is the best prof I've had in my University career, he knows his stuff, his classes are interesting, and he cares about his students. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone take his Hist 115 course regardless of faculty. He concludes his course with one AMAZING lecture that will make you think differently about the world and your life.
Absolutely amazing lecture. So interesting, funny, very clear, has amazing stories to tell. Excellent first year course where you have to write down what he says (no notes provided/on the board) but he goes at a slow pace. I looked forward to this class during the week and would tell my friends about some of the stories they were that good. GREAT
Great prof. He really makes class interesting by including stories/examples from his life to the concept/event he is teaching. I looked forward to this class all the time. Gonna be honest, not the easiest course as there is a lot of information to remember so it's not an "easy" A course but it will be worth your while.
Great prof. I enjoy the lectures a lot; they are interesting and he knows what he is talking about. The exams are rather hard and I think he realizes that and he tries to make it easier. You NEED to attend his lectures and take notes to pass them. Textbooks are useless don't even bother buying one.
Lech was an amazing prof! His lectures incorporate pictures from his real life adventures, and has many personal stories to share. The lectures keep you engaged and interested for the entire class time. The textbook is hardly used, (he says he really doesn't like it) but read it anyway. I would highly recommend anyone taking a class with him!
Took History 115 as a night class. The material was interesting and Dr. Lebiedowski tells tons of great stories making the three hours fly by. I did not prepare enough for the essay midterm but was able to bump up my mark by studying hard for the multiple choice exams. Beware... he often uses "none of the above" as an answer.
hard tests. all memorization
He is a very nice person. Course material is interesting and he makes it even more interesting by including stories of his own research into it. Beware of the tests though, anything that he says in the class (even once) might appear in the tests! I took about 160 pages of notes and there were still stuff that were new for me in the test.
I love everything about this professor, except for his tests... His lectures are great, really informative and build a great understanding of the course content, however, his tests are the deal breaker. They test on almost entirely unimportant/inconsequential material and are written in broken English. The poor wording of questions/answers isn't normally a big deal except for when it could throw off your answer.
Hands down best class you will take in your engineering academic studies. Very engaging professor, he loves what he does, loves to teach as well. Tests are memorization, but honestly if you go to class and pay attention, it's worth it. Very glad I took this course, only class I actually learned something in the past four years.
I took this class as a night class elective, and it was my favorite class in my semester (and I hated history in high school)! If it were any other lecturer, I probably would've slept through the entire time, but not with his. The exams do require a bit of memorization, but if you read over your notes plenty the questions really aren't that hard.
He truly cares about what he is teaching and more than the material but the message it conveys. He adds person stories where relevant and even they are educational. I would take the course again in a heartbeat.
Lech is absolutely amazing, His tests are memorization, but with him teaching it made it super easy to pay attention and enjoy studying the material. 10/10 would take again.
I absolutely loved taking his class! it was the most interesting class i have taken because of how much He enjoyed teaching the material. I would very strongly recommend!!
As a MIS student, this is suprising for me to say that this HISTROY class is the most important class I have taken. It tranformed how I think of the technology and my career. It is probably the only class I took that I did not skip any lecture, because they are funny, intriging and inspiring!
This was my favorite course at the U of A. Lech is a great lecturer, and every lecture is a must attend. He often brings items that he found or bought to class. Anything mentioned in class could appear on an exam, so write everything that comes out of his mouth. Tests are all memorization. Definitely felt like I was being taught by Indiana Jones.
Dr. Lech Lebiedowski is absolutely amazing! He is very passionate about teaching and his lecture never ceases to attract me. His lecture is one of the few classes where you can actually learn something while you enjoy the process. Big thumbs up!
Great guy! Had a lot of fun with this course. I did not think History could be taught in a really fun way. Anyone looking for a fun and informative class, take this course with him.
His lectures were long but he kept them constantly alive with anecdotes, but would always make sure you knew what was on the test and what wasn't
amazing.
A standout professor. The beginning of the class is memorization heavy but gives a great overview of history through the lens of technology development. Exams MC. The last lecture was incredible and thought-provoking. If you ever wanted to know how we got to where we are with technology and the sociological &economic implications, this is the class
History 115 with Dr. Lebiedowski is so far the best course I have taken at the University of Alberta. Changes your perspective on life
I'm going into my 4th year of electrical engineering, and needed to do my ITS elective. I took Lech's class after reading his RMP reviews, and I can confirm that he's very inspiring and interesting. So many of his personal stories makes the course easy to do well in. The tests were each worth 50%, and were 100MC. No essays for spring term.
WOW! He is an amazing prof, so glad I took this class. I think I learned the most in this class than my whole university career. Take this class! He is amazing!!
One of the most AMAZING profs teaching at UofA who is actually passionate about his subject. His class is easy if you go to all the lectures as the midterms and finals are literally a copy of it. Sometimes he gives an essay midterm, which honestly is not that difficult. Overall, amazing class. Recommend everyone to take it!
Great prof, this was his first time teaching STS200 and he did well. This class was one of the more interesting ones I've taken and he covered a lot of interesting topics. Only exams were two open book essays, and no textbook, because of the quarantine but he didn't seem to mark too hard and was clear on how to write a good essay.
He is LITERALLY the bill nye of history. I took his HIST 115 course online (because covid). He made the class so engaging and interesting. He is a great storyteller and because of this I found that the people, events, and things he mentioned really stuck in my head. He was a very good prof and you could see the effort he put into his lectures.
THIS PROF IS AMAZING!! He is so, so nice and cares so much about what he's teaching that it astounds me. Every minute of the lectures was interesting. He seems to have lived a full life of exploring the world and collecting ancient artifacts so he can show you, first-hand exactly what he's talking about. It's impressive how good this man is.
In the boring world of online classes this course is a light in darkness. If you enjoy history you can't not like this class. He puts so much effort into making it visually interesting and making concepts clear. Never dry or dull. Exams require some memorization but there are really no surprises or tricks. Favorite prof so far in first year.
Definitely recommend. He truly knows his content, has lots of experience, makes every lecture incredibly interesting and cares about his students. Grades composed of 3 exams, which I loved, you'll get all that you need to succeed in class from the lectures.
Absolute. Beauty. Took his STS course in the last semester of my undergrad for an easy elective and was blown away. Online delivery generally sucks but his lecture videos were insightful, impassioned, interesting, entertaining, and it genuinely broke my heart to hear he was being let go at the end of the semester. Truly a model instructor.
i LOVED this class. Dr. Lech puts so much care and attention into the lectures, and they're super interesting. You can tell he's really passionate about the content and I felt like he really went above and beyond, especially since this class was totally online. I highly recommend taking a class with him if you get the chance.
Great class, exactly what I wanted in an elective. Not a ton of work and interesting lectures. Lech is a great lecturer and I learned alot from his class (and we forget sometimes that learning is what. university is really about).
His STS200 class was the single best class I have ever taken. The range of topics was astounding, and because of that, each lecture felt like a different class in the best possible way. He is most interested in presenting you with information that challenges and makes you think about the world around you in a different way. Best prof I've had.
Definitely my best elective class as an engineering major. He is super passionate, and with reasonable studying and taking good notes a good grade is guaranteed.
I wasn't really sure what to expect for this class, but I liked it overall. Lech was really into the course material and his passion showed in the lectures. The exams were fair too and he marked fairly on essays as well. As well, the lectures were pretty long at times and he didn't provide any notes, so you had to make notes based on his videos.
Awesome lecturer, no nasty surprises on exams so as long as you show up for class, this is a good GPA booster. Super interesting professor and very engaging even with online classes.
Professor Lebiedowski is truly an amazing professor. I took his HIST 115 durning the COVID-19 Fall semester. Let me just tell you WOW. He videoed his lectures in on a motorcycle, in an airplane and in a time travelling car (all relevant to lecture material). In order to do well you need to take good notes for each of his lectures.
Dr. Lebiedowski is amazing. Each lecture was a beautifully made, engaging 1.5 hr movie, and the assessments were fair. He is also very kind, supportive, and always makes time to help his students-- even when he is crazy busy himself! Overall, STS 200 was an awesome class, with an awesome prof!!
Honestly one of the most engaging, interesting, and honest professors. His class is a gem, he really takes the time out to explain everything. This is the only history class i took, but if i had take his class earlier I would have taken more .
One of the most engaging lecturers I've had the honor of listening to. Absolutely knows so much about the course. Because it was online, he filmed himself in very placed with artifacts and it made the class so much cooler. We had 2 midterms, 1 was MC and another essay. Final is essay. He has said he prefers essays.
The lectures were very engaging even though it's online class this semester. Taking detailed notes is very important for this class and I found taking notes on a word document to be more helpful. Exams are fair and he shows you how to prepare for the exams. Probably the best class I took!
Prof Lebiedowski is a true gem. His lectures are literally like watching a documentary, they are incredibly engaging and he usually brings things he collected over the years to give us a better feeling about what he is talking about, so if you are looking for a course that he is teaching I would say pick him over anyone else.
Best teacher I have ever had! Despite being online, his recorded lectures were engaging and well planned. He took us on a historical adventure to see everything from ancient bone tools to WWII aircrafts. He even recorded while in a plane, a museum storage area, and next to huge technological feats. Someone give this man an award!
Such an amazing Prof. I took STS 200 with him for my ITS Elective for engineering and I would recommend this to anyone! Lectures were online but we made amazing PowerPoints that were engaging and professional. He gave personal insight into many of the topics we discussed which made the content so much more captivating. Best class I've ever taken.
I have never had a lecture as engaging as his. He truly teaches through passion and it shows. His lectures were never boring. I found the topics VERY interesting and often thought about them outside of class. He always tried his best to help with any issues. I took it as an elective and I couldn't be happer with the class. Would take again!
He's seriously the BEST prof I've taken in my 4 years of university. Since class was online, he filmed lectures in museums, aircrafts, and always showed us cool artifacts. He is so passionate and dedicated to his work. He truly cares about his students as well. I can't recommend him enough.
The lectures are like watching the most engaging show on the History channel. I highly recommend taking HIST 115 but it definitely isnt easy to get a good grade. There is a lot of writing and memorization involved with the course but the material is very interesting, so that helps. Highly recommend over other profs.
The amount of note writing is insane. I wrote over 50,000 words of notes - but he does warn you his class is intensive in terms of note taking. Textbook only needed for midterm 1. His lectures are amazing, and you cannot skip them as he does not post notes: you have to write them yourself. First midterm was M/C, second midterm + final were essays.
Dr. Lebiedowski was one of the best profs Ive ever had. He is clearly very caring and wants you to learn and to do well. He prefers essays for exams. When I got a lower mark than expected on my first essay, he took the time to let me know what I need to do to improve- and in the next essay, my mark went up a lot. He really puts in great effort.
I appreciated his passion and effort in presenting the course material as it made the lectures very engaging. This was a tough history class compared to others I've taken. You must write down and memorize a substantial amount of information. Also, be prepared to write essays since that is his preferred method of testing.
Perhaps the most influential course I've taken in my studies at UofA. Really eye-opening. The way he makes connections between different stories and events is amazing. Hoping I can take another course with him before graduation.
One of the best professors I have ever had in my university career. He was so passionate and had the most amazing lectures where he took the recordings outside with historical artifacts. He was so knowledgeable and truly believed in his work. Tests were a bit of a different format, but were manageable (1 midterm and 1 final). Highly recommend Lech.
I took Professor Lebiedowski's HIS 115 course as one of my introductory history courses. He was by far the best Professor i had this semester. Unlike many other profs i had, his genuine enthusiasm was contagious, and after his last lecture i ended up sitting in my room for two or three hours just thinking about the material. Unbelievable Course.
I am currently in my final year of engineering, and Dr. Lebiedowski was the best one by far. I can confidently say that this was the most interesting class I've taken during my 4 years at the U of A, mainly because this is a man that is truly passionate about what he is teaching, unlike many professors who only care about their research.
This is my last semester of my degree and it is safe to say that he is hands down the most influential and amazing professor I've had. He is extremely passionate about what he is teaching and it shows. He cares so much about his students and will do anything to help them succeed. Take this class. It is worth every penny.
I had the absolute pleasure of having Dr. Lebiedowski as one of my professors this semester. He is by far the most passionate instructor I have ever had, and his knowledge and love for the material he teaches is phenomenal. Extremely knowledgeable, kind and genuinely tries to make lecture exciting! 100/10 recommend!
Professor Lech is one of a kind. His lectures are the best. The lectures always felt like a short movie/documentary. It is by far the best course I've taken in uni, I would recommend it to anyone who needs IST elective. being online we have 2 midterms (1 mcq and 1 esay) and a final MCQ. All you need is attend lectures and take notes and you're set.
If anyone says STS200 is an easy elective as you don't have to put any work it's a big lie ; it has an enormous amount of lectures that fill up all your notebooks you'll have. But, the way Professor Lech teaches this class it makes you want to dig in more in the content and he is amazing and gives amazing feedbacks during exams. Would recommend !
Though I did not ace this course, I am satisfied with his amazing lecture. This class is like refreshment in the midst of a chaotic schedule. Unlike other history classes, this class will make you look at the world bit differently and Lech did a great job inspiring us. Make a commitment to a chapter from the textbook every week. Practice his essays
This prof is really amazing! He is passionate, well-educated, knowledgable, and engaging. He also openly cares about his students as humans. This year I took his class online. There was no course work besides watching the videos, 2 short midterms (incl one paper with fair grading), and a short final. He often went above and beyond to inspire. 10/10
Professor Lebiedowski is a truly excellent lecturer; his passion for history evident in every slide. Having 3 exams make up the entire course grade helped to make time for my other courses. My only complaint is about multiple choice exams (100 MC's in 30 mins.), as they were quite convoluted and didn't always adhere to lecture/textbook information.
Professor Lebiedowski first and foremost is one of the greatest human beings I fortunately got the chance to learn under. HIST115 with him has been a better adventure than what Frodo had, allowing me to feel motivated and inspired by his lectures and antics during. Much love to Professor Lebiedowski!
ESSAY EXAMS!!!!! He is definitely a great professor, knowledgeable and tell interesting stories. But his exams are all essay exams! (At least for the term I’m taking) If you are not super comfortable and confident with writing essays in limited time, please think carefully. Otherwise I would strongly recommend him.
Amazing prof! His asynchronous online class is absolutely amazing. He puts lots of effort into his lectures and makes sure that they are entertaining. He literally flew a plane in one lecture. 1.5x speed is the way to go. Critique is on the grading system. I got an 86 on the midterm and that was only a B+ because the scale is so high.
Amazing prof. Had to read a textbook which sucked but other than that, his lectures were always fascinating and interesting. He really gets you thinking about society and life. Also there was only 3 essays and they were easy to write having followed the async video lectures. Overall amazing class and I would recommend people to take this class.
Lech is a great teacher with great devotion to his work. He requires you take your own notes through his lectures but he goes at a pace where you could easily type out important details before moving onto the next point. 3 exams worth 30%, 30%, and 40% make it stressful but the exams are very straightforward if you write good notes and study.
Professor Lebiedowski is THE best professor I've had in my 5 years at uni. I've never met a professor so caring and engaging. He is incredibly knowledgeable in the course and I truly respect and admire him.
The BEST professor at the University of Alberta hand down. Truly an inspirational individual who is passionate about what he teaches. Professor Lech deserves more credit from the University. He puts so much effort into his lectures and cares so much about students.
Dr. Lebiedowski is the best lecturer I've had in my 3 years at the university. His passion for history and teaching are clear. Despite the difficulties he faces with all that's going on at the university (i.e., not enough TA support), he works hard to make the class a great experience. He's a tough marker, but seems to scale things around after.
Most interesting class all semester! His lecture videos were the best: he would show real artifacts and recorded some at museums. The way he taught was very engaging. The mark was 3 essays; need to write 5 pages to get a good mark. The grading TA gave me a terrible mark for reasons unrelated to my essay, but when I visited prof, he upped my mark.
Dr. Lebiedowski is a great lecturer. Excellent, excellent, excellent! Learned so much from him. The essay exams did kill me though, I wish there was other ways of demonstrating my knowledge instead of just a written format. Otherwise, I would recommend this class, just keep up on the textbook readings.
Fantastic professor
His class was truly awful for me. He does not offer any lecture note and you have to take notes manually whatever he says. A textbook is there but not of much use. Unnecessary difficult question, for a course like History of Technology, where most of the students are from Science/Engineering background. Utmost tough grader. No meaning !
He teaches simple things, but lots of memorization. By asking a very difficult question based on memorization only, he makes things complex. No curving of grade and even put harsher grade threshold like A in 95....for a course like history. Only three written exam and that's all !...as much u can memorize. Very harsh grader.
Show up for the lectures and be prepared to take notes! Dr. Lech is a very knowledgable person and was a pleasure to learn from. It felt like I was on a guided tour throughout tech history, starting with Oldowan tools up to current day tech like planes, nukes, AI and it's impact on society and people in general.
Lech probably had my favourite class so far in university as he really tries to impact you, the individual with his teaching and manages to immerse you in his class. However, I cannot give 5 stars based on his tests. His tests are inconsistent and don't exactly reflect the course material as well as they should.
Dr. Lebiedowski has been the most pleasantly surprising prof of my first year. Show up for your classes, he does not post lecture notes, but he is wonderful. So easy to approach, and very kind. He truly cares about what he teaches. It was a pleasure to take his course :)
if you have the opportunity to take this course with dr. lech's PLEASE DO. not only is he one of the best professors I've had but he seems to care about his students genuinely. he makes all the lectures interesting and engaging, especially for an online course. my two complaints are two essays decide your grade and lots of textbook readings.
He is one of the most engaging Professor that I have had in UOA. If you have any interest in history then you should definitely take this course!!
Imma be honest, if your the type of person to skip classes and study on their own. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He never posts notes, he has 3 exams, no homework and 2/3 of the exams are hand written essays while 1/3 is multiple choice. His lectures are very interesting if you enjoy history otherwise you'll fall asleep. He is funny and not a bad teacher
He's a good professor and clearly wants his students to do well. He is open to feedback and will boost marks if average is low. You have to show up to every class and take detailed notes, the little details are important on tests. There are no lecture slides and only 3 assignments that make up your whole grade so don't slack on studying
Lech's passion for history makes this course super enjoyable. Highly recommend, so long as you are able to attend class and take notes this class will be a breeze. Only complaint is the essay exam, 45 minutes is not enough to write a meaningful essay given the amount of content covered.
This class was really interesting and the lectures were really cool. Reading the textbook is a MUST. In no way shape or form is it optional, but it compliments the material covered in lectures really well. Overall just an interesting class with an engaging prof
The crse covers a long period of time and obvsly mny things have to be glssed over, but his immense exprnce in the area becomes clear very qckly, as he delivers very engaging lectures. He also very effectively delivers all information and has tailored the course to fit the needs of the demographic mainly taking this course (engg/science students).
Amazing professor, the best prof i have had period.
Very passionate about the topic and he makes the information easier to engage with by making jokes and such. Only midterms and a final, you have to go to class bc he doesn't post anything. Overall great prof
I loved Lech and the lecture content, very interesting and fun class but omg the exams are hard and weighted heavy (bc there are only 3). His grading scale is also pretty harsh so it's nearly impossible to get an A (92%). 5-page single-spaced essays which you have 1.5 hours for. I could never get out more than 4.5 pages and consistently got low 80s
Awesome class. Would recommend.
Awesome class. Lectures are fun and entertaining, but attendance is mandatory. He is very passionate about his studies which makes class enjoyable. Only 3 exams which was easy for time management and planning. Loved this class, Highly recommend.
Lech makes this course super engaging. Attend lectures, take notes, and use unstuck study for test prep - you'll do great. The textbook is crucial, but the content is interesting.
Took his hist115 class during fall term, overall he's a solid prof. He's incredibly passionate about the subject, and time tends to pass quickly when you actually take a moment to hear his lectures. Although, he does enforce a strict attendance by not posting anything online, so if you miss a class you'll have to borrow notes to catch up.
A fantastic lecturer, his lectures are so much fun and you learn so much. A very kind and funny professor. Textbook is provided online for free! Exams aren't too tough if you do some studying. Notes are not uploaded online, you have to take your own and if you miss a class, you gotta find someone to give you the notes. Totally recommend Lebiedowski
Absolutely amazing professor, highly recommend! I toke this class as my elective since I'm in engineering and don't regret it. He is truly passionate about the topics discussed.Time flies because it is so interesting. I attended all lectures and didn't do anything outside that (zero studying) and still got good mark so the exams are fairly easy.
Amazing professor, very passionate and uses many of his experiences in his teaching. Lectures are very important to attend
Not a grade boost elective, but not too hard and extremely interesting.
This is a 100 level arts course; here is a list of the ONLY classes I have ever taken with a lower class average: Math 209, Math 201, Math 100, Math 102; This is the only prof who can make an INTRO arts course difficult enough to rival engineering math courses. Really fun class though. We learned about nazi flying saucers.
Made history interesting for the first time for me! Such a wise and knowledgeable professor, who really cares about his teachings.
I loved this class. All of the lectures are incredibly interesting and tests are usually pretty easy. His sample questions are usually the actual exam questions so if you take a look at those you'll be fine. There's in a very small textbook portion that I didn't bother reading so do with that what you will. Lectures are mandatory so go to class.
Super interesting and engaging, Enthusiastic about technology and history. Exams are fair but a time crunch.
