Really nice! So cute!! It's almost hard to take her seriously because of the cuteness. Used neat ways to teach she compares covalent bonds to marriages in it for the lob haul, and hydrogen bonds as one night stands...really fun! Attendance is not mandatory cause she posts the slides on Web CT but she explains them which helps.
Very professionally attired, coordinated with absolutely cute shoes! Haven't heard her comparisons in Microbiology, however, when she described th structure of an advance microscope...she made the SFX of a light sabers! An absolute adorable doctor!!!
Long blond hair and blue eyes-WOW! She's a joy, she's approachable, she's very cute! In lecture, she's interestingly enough to listen to, if not distracted by her beauty. Lab is fun!
Super Hard Teacher!!!! You will need to study at least 10 hrs. a week on one chapter. Very Hard Teacher!!!
i enjoyed her lectures
She is HOT. Biol 1441 is a weed out class so prepare to put effort into her class. She basically hands out test points in in-class projects, test corrections, and questions at the end of the lecture. She is also hot...so hot that she had to tell the class she had a boyfriend through a story...
The class is meant to weed students out so know that when you go in. Takes much study time to succeed on tests. First two tests 50% class average. Dr. Frederick is VERY easy on the eyes.
she makes class interesting, a lot of people didn't like her but i really enjoyed her lectures. i showed up every day and took notes and am doing just fine. attendance isn't required but it's really important that you go. the book is only there for your own good, if you think you can do fine w/o it don't waste the money.. i rarely open it
This is a weed out class but the tests were far above the level of an intro level bio class. For example Exam 1 was taken to the dean of bio and he explained that this was not the level we should be tested at but he could not change it without a written complaint with signatures. The only good thing was there were great curves on the tests.
She's awesome, easy and cool. If you study hard and read the slides before class you'll certainly make a good grade in her class.
Very nice professor! Great curves. This subject is very hard and you have to do a lot of studying by yourself, so you don't even have to go to class just make sure you understand what your book says. Basically her lectures are whats in the book. Good review for you though.
Yes Dr. Frederick is very pretty, but she clearly knows the subject and loves the science. If you are ready to READ the chapters, this class is great! Class isn't mandatory but as long as you read the chapters thoroughly and understand the material you should do fine! Tests are extremely difficult! STUDY!!!!!!!
Anyone who doesn't make an A with her is simply lazy. There is literally nothing she keeps a secret about if it's planning to be on the test. This is a class you have to study for, and I don't get why people feel so surprised about that. It isn't a weed-out class, it's one of the few college-level classes at UTA, get over it.
not an easy class to begin with, no matter who is teaching it. if you just read the book and study the old tests you should be fine; you don't even really need to go to class. dr frederick is sexy though!
Very easy teacher. She makes biology seem fun and her PowerPoint slides pretty much is the test. It also helps that she gives curves on all her tests and bonus points at random sometimes. Would recommend her!
awESOME
I was not at all looking forward to this class... but she took a tradionally awful college course and miraculously made it interesting. I never thought I would say this, but I am actually looking forward to 1442! Attend class and read the book, an A is easily obtainable if you do. Great teacher!
Dr. Frederick was great. If you read the textbook and learn the concepts thoroughly achieving an A is definitely possible.
Great teacher made you work for your grade was not just handed to you
love it
She is just awesome..Book is helpful...but her powerpoints, which she publishes on net, have everything....Her tests are not hard, you just need to understand the material and not just memorize it..Curves are awesome..we got 11 points curve..and class are really fun....does everythign possible in order for her students to learn and tries all her be
Very charming professor. Is very clear in her explanations. Attending class is not necessary- her lectures are almost word-for-word from her online powerpoints, which come straight from the book. As long as you study the powerpoints and book well, you can get an A.
I loved her! she was so helpful. She gave you everything you need to get an A. You just have to study a lot, but no biology class is easy.
She is a great teacher! She is there for you if you need help. I went to ask for help and she really really helped. I encourage other students to take this class with her. The class is hard, but she makes it so fun!! She's awesome. I love her!!
She is awesome. She is always willing to help her students understand the material. She gives extra credit, curves, and she drops your lowest test grade.I made an A it wasnt easy but its possible. Go to class, ready the book and study and youll be fine. If you can get Katrina Cohen for lab, she is great too.
She is one of the best professor at UTA. She is super student-oriented, constantly posting up notes/tips for success/old test reviews/etc. She explains the information really well in her class. I never liked Biology, but her class makes me actually want to learn the material.Plus she tells you EXACTLY what to study for to get an A on the final!!
Her class is extremely difficult but she is a great teacher. She goes past and beyond to help every student who wants to learn. You have to attend class to understand the material and read every chapter before lecture that will help. And when you don't know something ask her she will explain. You have to study hard and a lot for her tests.test=hard
She is a great professor! She always posts things on webct to help you, and her tests are really not that hard if you just go to class and do her practice exams! she provides everything you need to get an A, and is such a fun teacher! def. take her!
Dr.Frederick totally rocks! She even made me wish that I would become a Biology professor at one time. The class and tests are not hard at all IF you really study the materials. Everything comes straight from the book, so READ IT! Her powerpoint slides are also extremely helpful. If you can't get an A in her class, you're simply a failure.
Very helpful. Writes great charts on the board to help get a point across. Always has extra credit available
Awesome teacher just read the chapters and study the slides she provides.. And to the kid saying your a failure if you can't get an A...your a d-bag.
PICK HER!! She is seriously an amazing biology professor. I learned sooo much from her. You HAVE to study c'mon it biology, it's only easy if you study! She makes a review powerpoint for every exam and it's all the info that will be on the exam! EXTREMELY helpful she wants you to learn. She is really pretty and soo funny on top of that.
Dr. Frederick is an adorable professor! Not an easy A but her class is a lot of fun. She gives very clear examples and tells you exactly what she will be asking for on the test. You must go to class,(she gives out a few extra credit points now and then), read the book and do practice problems to do well. She prepares you with all the tools you need
Not an easy A, but not hard if you memorize EVERYTHING on the slides thoroughly. EC in class so don't miss out on classes. She's funny too so you will never be bored in class. Take her, she's just about the best Gen. Bio prof in the univ.
Frederick is about the best bio prof at UTA. Anyone who does not do well in her class is lazy. If you do your work, and pay attention, you will ace the material. If you expect her to give you an A b/c you show up, then you will fail. Other profs give terrible exams, but Dr. Fredericks exams are succint and adhere to the material covered in lecture
Yes, yes those rumors you heard are true-- take her. Even though I dislike her as a person. She has this attitude. Whenever you ask a question in class, she'll reply:" wow really?" that translates to be" wow, really? I don't know how to answer you. Because I don't know much other than my slides!" But whatever, you still take her for a doable A.
Shes a FC Dallas cheerleader, shes extremely hot. I had to sit in the back of her class bc when i sat in front i spent all my time checking her out instead of paying attention. Very good prof, helpful, charming, nice but hardcore. NOT AN EZ CLASS, had to break night for several of her test PAYING ATTENTION IS A MUST
BEST UTA PROFESSOR, SHE CHALLENGES YOU TO THINK THROUGH THE MATERIAL AND STUDY. IF YOU ATTEND EVERY CLASS AND REVIEW THE MATERIAL CONSTANTLY THERE IS NO REASON WHY YOU SHOULD FAIL... AND YES SHES HOT
I highly recommend Dr. Frederick. Class is by no means easy, but she will go above and beyond for her students. Even when she has 700+ students in one semester, she still gives individual time to anyone who needs it. Pay attention in class, study, study, study and you will do fine. As a bonus, she's very nice to look at.
Great teacher, mandatory attendance, always opportunity for extra credit, easy B, recommend her, very very funny, You might not learn as much as in Dr. Henry's class but her class is good to keep GPA high,
Had her for 1441&1442. AMAZING TEACHER. Very nice and helpful. Even on a busy schedule she goes above&beyond to help her students. Tests are easy (ONLY IF YOU STUDY. Questions come from notes) Reading the book helps for reinforcing the material. She presents the info really well and it's easy to follow her lectures. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!! :] :]
This class is very hard, but I love this professor. YOU WILL FAIL if you do not study the slideshows or read the textbook. There is no homework. She will give extra credit opportunities every now and then. She is funny and gives realistic life examples to make the content more understandable (like throwing a football around in class). She's great!
I enjoyed her class. I would definitely recommend taking her. You have to study for her class but it's manageable. Of course an A is possible in her class. Just STUDY! :)
Biology is super easy because it's all memorization. If you did bad in her class it's because you probably never studied or came to class. Her class is really laid back and she gives a lot of extra credit. She doesn't really teach though because she mostly reads off the slides..
She's easy to follow along; if you read the chapter before hand, then class is that much easier. aslong as you Study study study, you'll be fine in her class.
Dr. Frederick is an awesome professor. She tries to make her lectures interesting and exciting. YOU NEED TO STUDY FOR THIS CLASS. I recommend reading the chapters before class, but honestly, if you study the slides thoroughly, you should make an A on her exams. Lectures are directly off powerpoints & gives a lot of extra credit.
Don't assume from the other ratings that this class is easy. You actually have to study, and read over the material. If you don't, you'll fail. She's really cool though and she offers extra credit.
she is cool, makes u study, really funny, smell like poo, very nice, n also willing to help u
You really don't have to read the entire book, but whatever is on her slides is what will be on the test so read up on those topics. Also, do the practice tests they help.
Read the slides, everything on the tests come from there
Not an easy class but she made the info. very clear. Getting an A in this class is possible as long as you apply the effort. Not a weed-out class like some think. She is also pretty easy on the eyes.
Biology as a subject is hard enough as it is with lots of memorization. This class is not easy and her tests are tricky (she has some cute questions though). NONETHELESS, she is a fantastic professor who teaches with passion. Go to class for extraCred, study the slides, read up on topics you don't understand. She curves tests which helps.
Questions are very tricky on tests but if you attend lectures, she says exactly what you need to know on the test. Questions are just made to make you think but if the material is understood, ou will be fine. She drops your lowest exam grade but there isn't much extra credit at all. maybe 3 points max on each test.
She is not by any means easay, but if you put forth the time and effort it is easy to get a B, or even an A.
Dr. Frederick is the best choice especially for premed folks. You don't have a choice as to knowing your concepts in details. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities too. Just don't miss class a lot.
I made 96 in class, i never went to class but i just knew my stuff. most will drop out, its not as easy as people say it is at all! i repeat at all! go to class record lectures and you should be fine. final is copy and paste from practice tests and four tests. also for lab make sure you get As in both lab reports.
She tries to trick you which isn't cool. She even admits that she likes to write tricky questions to trick you. Study the slides and the book they make understanding the lecture a lot easier.
HARD TEACHER, MAYBE BECAUSE I NEVER ATTENDED CLASS. BUT I MADE A+ IN CLASS I PUT IN WAYYY TOO MANY HOURS IN THIS CLASS MAKE SURE YOU DO LAB REPORTS THE DAY YOU GET THEM ASSIGNED, THATS WHAT I DID AND STUDY A WEEK AHEAD BEFORE TEST . I USED THE PRINTED SLIDES AND BOOK TO STUDY. ALSO IT HELPED TAKING ROGERS CHEM 1441 FOR THE FIRST TEST.
She is bad a&&!!!! Extremely easy too... I took this class at TCU and failed epically (study about 30 hrs a week). In her class you need to study at least 20hrs before the test. Do that, you'll get an high A. Stupid easy science class.
Great lecturer. Difficult subject. Four exams are difficult. She allows one exam grade to be dropped. The final exam is easy if you study. This class moves quickly and demand considerable study time. No chance for a curve. There are always people in the class familiar with the subject who do well. I took her class online and earned an A.
Had her for both 1441 and 1442. Goes through the notes pretty fast. Thought I'll get C's since I was taking Ochem I at the same time which is a lot of memorization as well and I mostly studied for that. Ended up with B's in both her classes, though I might've gotten A's if I didn't take Ochem at the same time. Good teacher, quite the looker. ;3
Simply the best lecturer at UT Arlington. Take every course that she teaches. She was my professor for BIOL 2457 and 2458. The exams are difficult. They are difficult because the course material is difficult. She makes the material interesting.
She talks extremely fast.
Great teacher; very sweet lady, and definitely willing to assist you if you have any problems. Her corny jokes are amusing, and if you watch the lectures she uploads on Blackboard, you are set for the test.
I have never felt more tricked by a professor when it comes to tests. She'll tell you how it's going to be and what's on it and surprise! Not at all what you expect. And everything's nicely wrapped up with an attitude. Not seeing where all the love is coming from on this site. I passed, but this class was frustrating to me all semester.
Dr. Frederick's honors class is fairly easy and challenging. Afterall, it is honors. Getting an A is doable. Study, review, and pay attention is all you have to do. All her exams are based on what she covers. Most of the questions are tricky but that is very minimum. Know you material!
She is very thorough and makes sure everyone understands the material. Her test ?s aren't tricky, she just challenges you to make sure you know the material. It has been a while since I felt challenged in a good way You do have to study but I feel confident in a subject that I haven't taken in since 2003 & never taking a chemistry class i
I took Frederick for 1441, 2457, & 2458 so I know her teaching very well. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. She gives bonus points, curves exams, and has some opportunities for extra credit. Her tests are straight forward. She goes over everything required to make a 100 on exams. She wants her students to be successful. Apply yourself and study!
Dr. Frederick is a great professor. I just completed A&P I; and although it was tough, I studied hard and made an A. This is a class that you must put the work into.I studied 40+ hours a week and needed to do so to be successful. If you take online like I did, it is a bit tougher since you do not get the human interaction, but good class.
I took this class as a dynamic course and was not as bad as I expected. The lab portion is easy because the lab quizzes and practicals questions can be found on the weekly lab handouts the PAL CD. I found it more useful to just read the book and ignore the lecture slides for the quizzes and tests. Pay close attention to small details from the book!
Dr. frederick is a great teacher! I didn't realize this until after i was out of her class & moved on to A&P. She truly does care that you learn the material. She gives extra credit & curves the exams fairly. All the material for her exams comes from her powerpoints. Making an A in her class is very do-able.
She definitely cares about her students and gives 120% percent when lecturing. Sometimes she would dumb down the material too much and I would lose all understanding I had before and have to review it after class. This class is an easy A for most, especially with the reward she gives to students who make an A on all Test. Work hard, study Harder..
Dr. Frederick is the best. She's extremely clear when she lectures and tells you exactly what to focus on/what not to worry about for exams. She didn't curve for our summer class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she had participation points and extra credit that you had to be in class to receive. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Frederick is a young teacher who knows that not all students are interested in A&P. She works hard to make class interesting and posts all lectures on Blackboard. If you ever need help, go see her! She loves knowing that you are working hard. LISTEN in class, do not doze off. You will do much better if you pay attention!!
Dr. Frederick is fair & she tries to ensure you know the material.
She is an AMAZING professor. She makes the class fun and entertaining. She does everything she can to help her students succeed. She also gives extra credit opportunities. It is possible to get an A in the course.
I had her for BIOL 2457 and BIOL 2458. Difficult class. Took both online. Quizzes are easy, can use your book. Labs are easy. Lab Practicals are easy. Exams are HARD. You better study. But her class is straightforward. No curve, but she drops your lowest exam, lab, and quiz score. Final was super easy. Same questions as the quizzes.
Dr. Frederick is an excellent professor! I really recommend her. She provides everything you need to succeed. She has powerpoints and extra credit opportunities. You must READ EVERYTHING. The book is a must if you like those extra details. You can still read the powerpoints though.
She is awesome! She teaches really well and makes lectures interesting. She provides everything you need to pass her class and she does give you a lot of extra credit opportunties. Study when she tells you because her tests are tricky. Her lectures are recorded so you don't have to attend class.
I loved this class! The material is very difficult and you will have to work hard to make high grades, but Frederick is incredibly helpful, really wants to see her students pass, and will help you out as long as you're willing to put forth the effort you need to. The book is ok for extra study help but all tests come straight from the lectures
She's not awful but she isn't good. When you ask for help she says to just memorize and talk out loud about the concepts. Not very helpful. Extra credit costs alot. I studied and went to every class. Probably not going to pass this class. Yes, power points are online. Read through them and study the concepts before you go over them in class. Made me change my major. Simply an awful class with a mediocre teacher.
Dr Frederick is an inspiration! She is a phenomenal teacher and does everything she can to help you. She is not tricky but tests to see if you understand complex material. If you aren't very good with memorization, like you need for any bio class, this class will be harder for you, but you can do it.
Great teacher! Firstly, when she talks about talks about saying the material out loud, she means explaining it to someone else. If you can explain it to someone else that shows that you understand it. Secondly, tests aren't tricky she just checks if you know the material. If you wanna seriously learn biology TAKE HER!!! It's worth the extra effort
Great teacher. She is one of those people that you know is meant to teach. My only warning is DON'T TAKE HER HONORS CLASS. OH MY GOSH. Hardest class you will ever take. First exam average was a 69. Multiple choice, short answer, essays, etc. Don't do it to yourself. Take her regular. She is awesome otherwise. Highly recommended for pre-med/dental.
She is an amazing teacher. She interacts with the students and will make time to see you if you need help. The class is hard but if you study you can pass. She gives you notes, practice test exams and helpful resources to help you pass. I highly recommend her
Took the Honors Section. Very difficult, but studied hard for the final and pulled an A in the class. This class WILL be difficult, but NOT impossible. Sometimes she dumbs down the information too much. Read the powerpoint slides before you go to class and it will make it much easier to understand when she teaches! Attend class for extra cred opps!
She is really pretty but don't let that fool you. She was very hard to follow and she reads off of her slide shows. DON'T FORGET YOUR SCANTRON for your test or she will give you a death look. I failed her class because of how fast she went and I hated her class. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!
The tests are hard!!! You have to study the slides like crazy. She offers extra credit and is always willing to talk to you. She takes the time to type out review sheets and several helpful handouts. She wants you to do well, but you have to study like crazy. Her lectures are pretty fast paced, but her slides and recorded lectures are online.
A very nice professor and a great teacher. the test are very hard but she does everything trying to help out students. study hard, you will pass. NOT AN EASY CLASS. you really have to study extra hard.
Dr. Frederick is a great professor! I took her for both BIOL 1441 and 1442 and as I have moved on with my undergraduate career as a pre-dental student I have not met another biology professor that is near as good as she is. Her classes are not easy As, you will have to study but I can assure you that you will learn the material.
Definitely knows her stuff and really breaks things down to an easier level so you can grasp the concepts. Tests are tough but are very straight forward so if you know the material, you'll be fine. Just from personal experience, keep track of your assignments, grades, etc on a DAILY basis. If there's a mistake, don't wait to long to say something!
Very good professor. She know's her stuff and is very straightforward in what she requires for her students to know for each exam. Know the powerpoints very well and you should do well on the test. She gives you everything you need, so it's your own fault if you don't take advantage of her resources and ace the exams.
She is very nice! Explains the information in a way where the students can understand. She is available during office hours or you can ask questions during class. Funny! Highly recommended!
Okay to give it to you straight, it is a hard class but she is a good teacher. You need to go to class, even thought its not mandatory, and pay attention! If you put time into it you can get a good grade, she is good at explaining what she expects and she is good at teaching! Take her but be prepared to work for your grade. She is really nice too!
As long as you pay attention and study, you'll be fine. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Very fair and straight forward about expectations.
Dr. Frederick's class was my favorite this semester as a freshman nursing student. Her tests are very straight forward on the information and powerpoints given in lecture. It was also extremely helpful that the lectures were recorded online. Reading the textbook is helpful in understanding but not necessary. I would definitely recommend her.
Dr. Frederick is by far an amazing professor. She goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material. If you study hard and attend class you should definitely receive an A in this class!
Dr. Frederick is a great teacher. The only reason I made a B in her class was because I slacked off in the beginning of the year and my first two exam grades (a B and a C) in addition to my bio lab grade (B) couldn't make up for the two A's on the last exam and the final. Study for her class and attend her lectures. Sometimes she gives extra credit
Professor Frederick is a very helpful professor. However in a 50 min class, it was very hard to follow her at times. This class was tough, and her tests are very confusing. I would not take BIO with her, but I do believe that you learn alot from her class.
Take her class if you truly want to understand biology. She tells you everything you need through her lectures. After class listen to her echoes until you can fully comprehend. You must spend no less that 9 hours a week to make an A so hard work is a must. I am so thankful because Dr Frederick gave me a great foundation for biology.
Dr. Frederick is one of the best teachers I've ever had! The amount of material on each test can be overwhelming, but if you study the powerpoint slides a week or so ahead, you'll be okay. The tests can be tough, so you must work hard independently to be successful in her class. An A in her class is not easy, but it is attainable.
One of the best "teachers" I've had at UTA. She puts a lot of effort into the teaching aspect of her professorship and respects her students. Highly recommend. (Oh, and yes it's a little tough, but it's Bio after all).
Dr. Frederick is a great teacher, but I just do not understand biology in general and I struggled because of it and had to withdraw from the class. If you want a great teacher, she is the one. If you are expecting to pass with flying colors, I hope you do better than I do.
I love her. She made me realize my passion for Bio. You need to study like crazy, but it's worth it.
I'm sure that she means well. I just didn't like her attitude. To me she seems very stuck up and self centered. I had her fro the Spring 2014 semester, and school was postponed until 10:30 am due to the ice storm. Our class was at 9:30 am, so everyone assumed that the test was put off. She emailed us at 9:00 am to tell us to come take it anyway.
She has a habit of telling you to know certain topics for her tests, and then she doesn't include them in her exams. After that she will put stuff on the exam that she told you not to pay attention to. Told us the first exam would be all multiple choice. It was 12 multiple choice, something like 30 fill in the blank, and two essay reponses
If science is not your thing and it's tough for you, do not expect to pass her class. Even when i studied hard i got D's on her tests. They are so confusing. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
Her tests are based solely on the lectures and slides, but I would still read the book. She also gives you TONS of resources online that will definitely help you pass the class. Extra credit is given out to encourage attending lectures, which are recorded! I would encourage to look over the recordings before an exam to refresh your memory.
She is awesome. Biology is a heavy loaded class period, but she is giving all the help she can! Gives extra credit, so come to class. You WILL have to work for an A, but lectures, study tools, and everything you need is given to you.
We only had four tests including the final. She drops one but her test are kind of hard. Her lectures are pretty boring. I don't go to class because it's more effective to use that time to study on your own. She posts the Power Points and helpful things online. I wouldn't take her class again.
Overall this class was a major pain, I have never studied as much as I did for her class and I received a C. If I could do it over again I would set time aside for a month prior to her tests to study, that time was needed. She only curves around 5 points, it isnt even helpful. The pace was crazy and hard to follow. DO NOT TAKE.
Dr. Frederick is the best biology teacher at UTA! She provides you with all the resources needed to pass the class including reviews and practice tests. If you review her recorded lectures and study the powerpoint slides in depth, then you can definitely make an A in this course. She is phenomenal and really boosted my interest in Biology.
The material is tough; her tests make sure you really know it. She offers extra credit, but the only grades are test and lab, so STUDY! She offers her Powerpoints online and makes the class very interesting. She wants you to succeed. She's not boring you by teaching out of the book - she demonstrates and loves what she does. My favorite class ever
Four tests. Tests are hard, make sure you know the material enough to explain it. The tests are multiple choice, but the choices can be difficult. Really cares about her students. Explains material really well in class. She doesn't require attendance, but your grade will.
Her exams are moderately difficult and are directly from lecture so attending class is a must. Study her powerpoint slides! She gives a few extra points here and there on exams but you'll only get them if you go to class. Her lectures are interesting and she always tries to throw in biology humor. Overall she's an awesome professor.
-She's really passionate about what she does, so she tries to make lecture as interesting as possible. -All questions on tests come from her ppts which she posts. She also posts additional studying material. -Extra credit is given during class. -Tests aren't easy, but if you understand the concepts and commit her ppts to memory, you'll do fine.
Only made 101 average 'cause of SI. Lectures get more fast-paced as semester goes on, so class recordings save the day. Puts many resources online i.e. lecture ppts. & past exams. Curves & bonus pts. possible. Exams are more straightforward than she lets on: 50 MC for 3 exams, 100 MC for final (super easy), replaces lowest exam w final. Take her!
She is spectacular! Her lectures are amazing but her tests are hard as hell if you don't study, but let me put it this way; she's so good i passed the first test with a 70 without studying because I didn't skip a single class and payed attention, now I only wish I had studied lol
This lady is really AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She gives you ALL of the tools to succeed in her lecture class. She is very knowledgeable, full of life, and understanding. Her test aren't hard if you study for the material that she gives. I never cracked open a book so don't bother buying one, her test are by lectures and extra material that she gives.
Dr. Frederick is simply AMAZING! I had her for 1441 and Honors 1442. She wrote me recommendation letters and gives me incredible advice about medical school. Overall, her tests are not super easy. You need to know the content in order to do well on her tests. No homework; STUDY! Meet her during her office hours; get to know her!
She's the greatest professor I've ever had! She made the class interesting and was very clear and helpful. The course is hard... but she gives extra credit questions in class and replaces your lowest test grade with your final grade if you did better on it. I didn't even had the book but I did fine by just showing up to her class.
Dr. Fredrick is the best Human Anatomy and Physiology professor at UTA. Come to class, take good notes, and study those notes! She is there to help you, but if you don't come to class - you definitely will not pass.
Dr. Frederick is an exceptional lecturer. She is great at explaining concepts and going over material. In her office hours, she is very helpful. She always uploads test grades the same day as the test. Her powerpoints and SI leader are extremely helpful. She recycles a lot of questions from examples and previous tests. She also gives bonus points.
Dr. Frederick is an outstanding professor. She goes out of her way to explain things in the most simplest way possible. She might come across as an unapproachable profassor during lecture, but she really isn't. If you take the time to speak with her on one to one basis, she will gadly explain, and help you become competent. The tests are not hard.
She makes anatomy very interesting and explains everything so well. She makes it very clear how she's always there to help and she really is! I took over the summer and we had case studies, which is a group project but only that day so make sure you know when they are and go to class or you'll get a 0. Her exams aren't too bad if you read the book.
Her lectures and notes are the best and she is so sweet. tests are too tough. she likes to flip questions and you really need to understand every single concept in detail and why. Read the book dont just rely on the notes because that is not enough. i think half of her class drops. out of 150 students only 28 go As which she was excited about.
She's a REALLY good teacher! She's has a lot of resources available for you, and wants you to get a good grade. However, her tests are hard if you don't study enough. Start AT LEAST two weeks prior. Read textbook and if you need, watch lectures again online. Only problem is she moves too fast during lectures, so you can't always write it all down.
I thought this class was extremely difficult right after I took the first test, but then for the 2nd test I used all of her study tools and got an 84. If you really pay attention in class and participate she'll be very clear of what she'll expect on the exams. Study hard and plan on starting to study at least a week before. She's very funny.
She is a very interesting lecturer. She's always available and has resources for you. Very difficult class if you don't pay attention. You HAVE to study for this class!
She is amazing- funny, there for you, will do anything to help you out. But the actual studying YOU WILL have to do yourself. Study ahead of class so you have some knowledge of what you're about to learn and definitely review every weekend for a minimum of making a B. You gotta work your butt off for an A! It is possible though- but I made a B.
Her lectures are amazing and she explains it so you can understand the material. Provides many resources for you to succeed, use her resources. Come to class with lecture notes printed out and looked over before. She does curves. Set aside time to study and understand and you should do fine. Be present and attentive, your effort matters.
Dr. Frederick was a great professor. I am not good in biology but she tries to help students understand where she can help. She tells you the tests are going to be hard but she wants you to know the material.
Dr. Frederick is really sweet. She wants you to succeed but that doesn't mean she'll make it easy. Her lectures were great but her tests were sometimes tricky.. The rule of thumb of 3 hours of studying for every 1 hour of class really applies for this class.
Ms. Lee Ann explained her lectures very well. I took the class online which can be challenging. She provided different resources for study and practice which made the class a lot easier. You even get a lesson out of the jokes she tells throughout her lecture which really ease the pressure.
I took Dr. Fredericks for Honors BIOL 1441 and BIOL 1442 (before the switch) and I found her class doable but the tests were not easy. Study the detailed powerpoints and listen closely to her lectures. I never opened the textbook in these two classes and got an A overall in both classes even with a not- so great high school biology program.
It's intro Biology, you need to read. That being said, the Dr. Frederick makes extremely difficult test questions. This is not a bad thing if you know the subject as tests questions will have about 3 layers of understanding in one questions. If you do not know one part, you do not get credit. But she is am AMAZING teacher. Her slides are great.
Knowledgable/usually interesting, but can go from friendly to TOXIC when she often wrongly accuses students of cheating with 0 proof. If you somehow solve her difficult case studies, she is suspicious of you. delves into detailed processes with NO context regarding what they even mean for overall body function. Rude & snooty. AVOID if possible.
Since it is a summer class it is heavy. You have to be present and study in order to pass. if you dedicate time to class you will make an A. Her exams are from her powerpoints. Great Professor, she makes hard topics easy to understand.
Show up to class, re-listen to lectures (it's recorded), and MEMORIZE & UNDERSTAND the powerpoints. NO need for textbook, just understand the concept because the questions can confuse you, but if you know the material you'll do fine! She's amazing don't hesitate to ask for help.
Hands down the best professor I've had. Her lectures aren't stale and she clearly defines on her powerpoints what you need to know for the test (btw the tests were all based off the ppts!). You can tell she cares about her students. Really down to earth. I wish I had her for A&P 1. If you can, do not pass up the chance to be in her class.
A&P is hard, let alone taking it in the summer. If you are wondering who to take, take Dr. Fredrick. She cares so much about students. The Exams are hard, I mean come on it's A&P II. What do you expect? Hardest part of the course is lab.
Almost everyone has positive feedback about her but you get to see the reality when you go to her class. If you pay attention to her, you will note that she does not really teach rather she reads from her power points. At the beginning, the class its full but later on after the two tests almost half of the class drop. I am just being real abt it.
I took the online dynamic dated session and I can tell you that this is one of the hardest classes I have taken ( and I have a bacheolors degree already so that's based on a lot of professors.) The quizzes and lab work was easy and open book but the tests are nearly impossible to get an A on and you have to WORK for a B.
Easy class! Infectious diseases. Read the slides and show up if you want reinforcement of concepts. Great class to take for premed/pa/biomedical sciences recommend if you need an extra class. Easy A if you read read read. There is one presentation grade, two video reports, and 3 exams. EASY
What you study is not on the test. The test and quizzes are tricky.
Listen to the lectures - they help and are worth your time. This class is tons of reading & teaching yourself (b/c it's online). Labs are easy to follow. Course is easy to navigate. Expectations are clearly communicated. Good experience & I actually learned a lot!
She is an amazing professor. She really wants you to learn the material to prepare you for nursing school. You have to really study the power points and you will do amazing on the exams! Lab is harder than lecture.
Do the work and it's an Easy A..... responds promptly and is very fair!
Dr. Frederick is truly inspirational and gives amazing lectures. Her passion for teaching undergraduate students is demonstrated in the way she interacts with the class. The exam questions are not too difficult if you study her powerpoint slides and relisten to her lectures. I highly recommend her as a professor!
This class in general is draining for your mental health, but she is better than Henry for anatomy. Either way there will be tons of information is a little bit of time. You must study several hours a week to pass.
Best professor I've had in my entire time in college, just study the powerpoints and you'll get A's.
Dr. Frederick is a great lecturer! Her recorded lectures are helpful, along with her power points. I actually learned a lot in this class. The online class is well organized and clear.
I took three classes under Dr. Frederick and I am sad that there aren't anymore to take! They are heavy science classes with labs, so you will work for your grade, but she is enthusiastic about her topics; goes above and beyond to make sure you understand what is expected of you each week. Weekly quiz (one per chapter), weekly labs, biweekly exams.
The best! Take her for genetics, or anything really. She makes things very easy to understand. Offers extra credit. Amazing professor.
Dr. Frederick is the best professor for biology; she explains things very well and tells you almost everything you need to know for the exam! Her exams can be difficult as the questions have layers much like an ogre or an onion. Study her powerpoints very well and really understand them. You do not need the textbook. Use the resources she posts!
I took A&P1 online, I can't say much about her personally, I literally had no contact with her aside from reading her welcome letter which was very nice BTW. The tests are incredibly hard so be ready to work. She makes quizzes & labs open book so that really helps balance out the grade. If you take her be ready to dedicate most of your time to A&P
Took her for genetics and BIOL I. Awesome lecturer, really cares. Non-mandatory attendance, but occasionally gives extra credit to people who show up. I more or less only studied off the powerpoints.
She says you need to read the textbook but you only need to do that if thats the way you study best. I went to every lecture and took notes and then watched every lecture online and took notes again and it helped SOOOO MUCH. I also did all the study sheets and practice tests that she provides for the test. USE WHAT SHE GIVES YOU. best biol 1441
Very fair professor. 3 midterms. 1 Final. Final Exam is the easiest of them all. Just study the review she gives you and you'll ace it! Make sure to attend class since she does give bonus pts from time to time. I would've gotten an A had I attended some of her bonus pts lecture, but oh well. A B isn't so bad in genetics. Good luck y'all. :D
Amazing teacher! Very passionate and willing to help students. Study the PowerPoint slides and do the practice problems and you'll have no problem. She occasionally gives extra credit points so go to class as often as you can. You will only need to book if you need to clarify topics you don't understand.
Online course is difficult but if you work hard you can achieve an A.
She is what everyone says she is; the best A&P teacher out of Pollock, Henry, and Aranda. She actually teaches you and helps you when you need. Her PPTs are straightforward and she tells you what you need to know. I highly suggest taking her in the summer, despite the heavy time you have to put in.
Dr. Frederick is the best instructor I've had yet! She is extremely helpful in clarifying complicated systems and repeating difficult concepts. This is not a course you just want to get a good grade in and forget, and she helps her students understand the importance of the material and how to apply it in our future endeavors. Take this class!!
Hands down one of the best instructors ever! Her energy is great. Her lecture style is really interesting. She is funny! She teaches you more than just the material. You will learn how you learn best in this class. Keys to success- complete or create your own study guides, take past exams, re-watch lectures, come to class, ASK QUESTIONS.
Excellent class format. Grading is clear and ensures participation and engagement - after all you are going to be caring for others. The text book is very good - well written, great detail and illustration. Lab encourage learning - much more so than any on campus lab I have had. Dr. Frederick is a true professional and developer of minds
I took Dr. Frederick for Summer AP2 and loved it, she kept it real while also cracking jokes early in the morning. Great teacher no text book reading, gives extra credit by doing in class questions, extra questions on test, removes questions majority missed, and opportunity for a 30Q final.
Took her for Biology 1441 Honors, and she was amazing! Had to do one 'research' paper, but it was easy to write and she graded fairly easy. Lectures were amazing, she's funny, she would tie everything to real world to make sure you understood. The small class setting for the honors class was also really great. Would defiantly take again.
I took Dr. Frederick for Honors Bio. I and it was by far the hardest class of the semester. While her course is very lecture/textbook heavy, it is Bio. I, so this shouldn't be any surprise. The class is TOUGH and you have to seriously put in a major effort to get an A but it is definitely possible. Come to class, participate, and study hard!
She's a pretty good professor who makes fair tests. You really don't need to go to lecture as long as you read the text book and takes good notes from it. Made an 89.5 as a freshman and you can easily make an A if a little bit of effort is applied. (She's hot too)
Dr. Frederick is great! I'm taking two more classes with her this semester- the only time I have ever picked the same professor for multiple courses. She is very clear about assignments and expectations, and she's very organized. You will need to read the textbook and lectures thoroughly, but you will get an A if you do everything expected of you.
Took this class in a spring flex semester. Finished the class in 3 weeks. TAKE HER!!!!
Kind and helpful. Has a unique sense of humor which can make some uneasy. Very thorough and knowledgeable. Offers extra credit at random during lecture. Book helpful. Tests are all multiple choice and extremely tricky with wording, but not too bad if you study & understand PowerPoints and practice 100 hours. By far most time consuming course ever.
I loved her for AP1 and AP2. Worst mistake I made in AP1 was not listening to online lectures and taking notes, ended up with a B. The recorded lectures are great, and so easy to follow. I'm expecting to finish AP2 with an A. Highly recommend her for anything she teaches! I'm getting ready to take her for Micro in a week.
Dr. Frederick is great, I've taken 3 of her classes. She makes it very clear what you need to do, and she provides plenty of study resources. The course is test heavy, but the homework and labs prepare you very well. The online lab can be tricky- give yourself lots of time to do these.
She decides to change her whole grading scale so late in the semester even though her syllubus states differently. Difficult tests and goes extremely fast but still expects you to know everything for the exam. She does give extra credit and it's good that she does because more than half her students fail her exams. Very sarcastic as well.
I had Frederick for genetics and made an A. Know every detail fo her PowerPoints. Be able to explain the material to yourself without looking back at things, if you can do thar you got it, but if not go back and understand it. Rewatch her echo360 lectures it helps!! Always go to her classes, she randomly gives extra credit and youll need it!
I recently took Genetics with her and she really is a straightforward and fun teacher! study her powerpoints and you are good for the test! She really does want you to succeed in her class and will find many ways to do that. Extra credit is given randomly and can save your grade! She's pretty great!
Dr. Frederick is great. She goes through her lectures super super fast though. Best thing to do is take notes over the posted ppt the day before the lecture and then go to class and just listen to the lecture. Trust me it's better than trying to frantically take quality notes as she goes through 2 chapters +80 slides each in just 120 minutes.
Frederick is great. For summer 2 the only grades are 3 exams (2 units and a comprehensive final). Study her lec ppts, review ppts and practice exam questions and you will for sure get around an B to a A. She does give extra credit and she does allow the final to replace one of the unit exams, something no other A&P teacher does. A lot of studying
Took her for A&P 2 for a summer 5 week. She does a good job at compressing information, telling you what's important, and keeping class entertaining. She gives random extra credit questions throughout the class, so show up.
I had Dr. Frederick as a prof for AP I & II as well as Nursing Micro. I took these courses online so it was tough but Dr. Frederick does an amazing job of getting the material across with power points and audio lectures. She is available for her students and it is clear she wants us to do well. I would absolutely suggest taking any course by her
The absolute best professor I ever had! Her class is by no means easy, but she is an amazing lecturer and awesome person
Dr. Frederick is by far my favorite professor at UTA. She is hilarious and willing to help you if you ask for it. I had her for A&P II and Nursing micro. She lectures really fast so be prepared and on time. Study her PowerPoints and you should do well!
Great Professor! Really knows her stuff and is passionate about teaching. Her exams are based on her powerpoints.
Professor Frederick is amazing. I took her for A&P 2 and Microbiology online at the same time. She explains things very easily. Tests are 50 questions and she gives a review of what to study. She tells funny jokes to keep lecture interesting. One of my favorite professors at UTA. Review recorded lectures and study daily to get an A in this course.
exams are only based on powerpoint files. No textbook. 3 lecture exams, 1 comprehensive final. Students can study from recorded lectures alone. Highly recommend attending class because she emphasizes important concepts and removes unimportant concepts from your study pile. Class is fun and information-packed. Doesn't go so fast that we get lost.
Dr. Frederick is by far one of the best anatomy professors, she understands we all have a life aside from school. REWATCH HER LECTURE RECORDINGS, they HELP IMMENSELY. Go to her office hours, she will sit down with you until you fully grasp the topic.
She is the best professor for ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY & MICROBIOLOGY. What helped me the most was her lectures. So I would print her powerpoint and listen to her lectures and highlight them as she is speaking. Then I would go back over the slides like two more times. And listen to the lectures over and over even in the shower. Also practice on quizlet
Dr. Frederick is the epitome of the word expert. I took her honors section of Biology 1441 and it was pretty hard. It is just a tough class in general. She lectures extremely well, and expects a lot from her students. She is more than welcoming in office hours and is willing to do a lot for her students. By far the most thorough professor ever!
First off, Dr. Frederick is amazing! Take her! I had her for the honors section. She gives great lectures, provides powerpoints, and study materials online to help you pass. Biology is by no means an easy subject, so work hard, and start studying early. She's willing to go the extra mile for her students. Can't recommend her enough.
Great professor, she is very knowledgeable and has a sharp sense of humor that makes the class enjoyable. Each PowerPoint comes with an "important concepts" page that basically tells you exactly what to know. The "final" is a 6-minute presentation on a disease, so brush up on your public speaking skills and be ready to answer questions. 10/10.
Honestly one of the best professors I've had so far. She's funny, gets the point across, and lets you know what you need to know and do not need to know for tests. Her powerpoints and lecture videos helped a lot when studying and she is more than willing to help you as much as she can. She also gives extra credit points randomly so GO TO CLASS!
A real great professor! Although her lectures are long and fast, she goes above and beyond to help her students if they let her know.
material was easy to follow and great for studying. I hate science because I typically suck at it. Dr. Fredricks homework and study material made studying worthwhile and for once I actually enjoyed a science class and retained a bunch of information
Dr. Frederick is an amazing professor! Use her study tools, they really help! I had a hard time with Bio in high school, but Dr. Frederick made everything so easy to understand. I would definitely recommend taking her class. Tests are hard, but she reviews the material well and gives a ton of tools to help students retain the information taught !!
You have to read the whole textbook to pass. I felt like I was in a medical school.
I took this class online for Nursing Microbiology 2460. Her recorded lectures where nice because she likes to be kinda funny and it breaks up the boringness of sitting in a chair listening to someone through a speaker while taking notes on the powerpoint. I felt like she covered a lot of the exam material in her lectures that was not in the book.
A&P 1 took a lot of studying and constant review of lecture and PowerPoints. Powerpoints are long and include a lot of material so give yourself time to study. Class is easy if you make time to study everything!
Dr. Fredrick is an incredible professor. The class itself is difficult and the material is hard but she provides everything you need on the exam in class and in the reviews. Her office hours are also good to go and get some one-on-one time with her. STUDY. ALL. THE. TIME. She's great but doesn't hand it to you.
Dr. Frederick is hands down one of the best professors I've ever taken!!!!. She's funny and makes the material really easy to understand and gives you a heads up on what to study for on exams. Too bad this is her last semester :'( I really enjoyed her classes (and am going to miss her).
Best professor at UTA hands down.
One word to describe this professor: phenomenal! Dr. Frederick is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is helpful, kind, and cares a lot about her students. Biology is a tough subject to tackle but she breaks things down in a way you'll actually understand. Class is ok as long as you pay attention in lecture and read the textbook.
Biology is a hard subject because there is so much you need to know! Dr. Fredericks made it easy to understand! Her power point lectures/ reviews were straight to the point and she actually cares about her students! Hands down one of the best professors at UTA!
Best biology teacher at UTA sadly though, this is her last year here which is a loss for anyone who didnt take her. Her class always scores highest on tests and is evident why. Her lectures are very enjoyable and useful. Biology is departmental so she doesnt have much control on grading but does her best to make sure you pass! Study hard though!
I was terrified to take A&P 1 again. I took it at another school and made a C so I had to retake to get my GPA up. If I would have put in a little more effort I could have made an A, I slacked a little and ended up making a high B. This has been one of my fave professors, she was easy and did not fill you with busy work. Would def take her class
Beware, if taken online and you are new to the nursing field, you have to retake it a second time to improve your grade. Forget the exam or test guides, it is only of very little help. trust me your textbook will be color-coded by the end of the class. there is no referral for corrections and unfortunately the only instructor for the online class.
She's a great professor! I took her for A&P 2 and Nursing microbiology and passed both classes with A's. She really cares for her students and even provides study guides for exams. All her exams come from her power points so as long as you studied those, you should have passed the class. I would definitely recommend for other students to take her!
Very understanding prof
I studied like crazy. Read notes, reviewed PowerPoints, read book, attended SSI tutoring, and still did horribly. I went to Frederick to ask for help and she shrugged and told me that if I couldn't figure it out, I should change my major. She then told me that I could go to the office down the hall to get the major change started. Very harsh prof.
I absolutely loved this professor and class. I have struggled in A&P before, but she made it a breeze for me. Yes it is hard to earn an A, but if you put in the effort it definitely pays off. I would 100% recommend this professor to anyone.
Took her for a&p2 and nursing microbiology online. She does not care if you dont understand the material or her convoluted study guides. Her and her TA just were no help and based the majority of your grade off 4 exams and 3 lab practicals but give you no tools to learn what you need for them.
I decided to go into nursing and I was extremely nervous to do so because I have been out of school for about 8 years. I took two of Dr. Fredericks online courses which was microbiology and A&P. She is a great professor and I passed because her material is spot on. I am now registering for A&P 2 and I was so sad to see she wasn't listed this fall.
Dr. Frederick was my professor for Cellular Biology. I was hesitant about the class because of the topic but she made it so easy to understand. This isnt a hard class to pass at all, as long as you do your lab work, and actively study for the exams. She gives you exam reviews and wants to see you succeed! I would love to take her for another class.
Dr.Frederick is by far my favorite professor ! She is so kind, caring, and super funny. Cell bio gets a little hard once you get into learning about metabolism, cancer, and etc. , but she literally tells you what you are going to see on the test and she puts everything you need to know in red. I definitely reccomend her if you want to do well.
AMAZING BIO PROFESSOR!! Dr. Frederick is kind, caring, funny, inspiring, and insanely smart. The final is optional. There is 4 exams, 50 questions each, and extra credit is offered. She truly did make Biology fun and she was so kind. She replies fast and is engaging with students.
Prof. Frederick is amazing. She gives you all the material you need to succeed and more. She is readily available and very understanding. This class is VERY difficult though. The material is very hard to understand and if you don't study you will not do well. I never used the textbook although some people though it was helpful.
Professor Frederick is awesome - she makes cell bio a breeze with her clear lectures and exam prep. Unstuck study ai was super helpful for studying too!
