this teacher is totally rude and unhealpful. If you ask him questions he get pissed off because your dumb. He treat people like dumb and stupid if you keep asking him questions. He has no experience with students and his teaching was always not clear. Good luck taking his class. If your not good at your math don't take his class cuz he won't help U
I like him a lot. I am repeating this class, never got an A on a math test before, but I got a high A on the first test, along with like 16 or 17 people in my class. He doesn't like people not doing HW or don't take notes. He will get on your case so some don't like him. If you are willing, he will help you.
Chang is amazing! He is a great stats teacher. Dreaded taking this class, but Chang is very clear and explains things so well. He emailed me hours after a test to tell me how well I did! He is down to earth. If you just want an easy teacher, he is not for you. If you want to learn, he is great. Love his Hawaiian shirts & Rainbow Sandals. :) Cute.
Chang is cool when you first meet him. after that hes a terrible teacher. he never responds back to your emails, and hes pretty stubborn. even though i didnt quite pass in his class, im still gonna take him again next semester cuz i have all the homeworks.
How can ANYONE who makes an HONEST effort say Chang is a bad teacher? I have never worked so hard 4 a math class b4 & it was all cuz of him. He told me if I tried my hardest, everything will work out at the end. And it did. Got a B. Emailed me a few times just to tell me to keep up the good work. The lazy immature ppl need to grow up. Very fair.
At first i really didnt care for this teacher. When i went in for help, he criticized me for not taking notes correctly. He seems like he doesn't want to answer your questions but he really does. He cares so much and really wants everybody to get As. nice guy, would definitely recommend this teacher.
In my opinion, Chang is a good teacher, he was always there during his office hours to help and he was VERY VERY thorough and organized with his class lectures. Bottom line, if you show up and do the homework it will be easy class to pass.
Honestly, best math teacher i've ever had, takes everything slow and goes step by step. Encourages the class to know each other and help one another so no one is lost, I LOVED IT! made so many friends! he is an extremely positive person and a really awesome teacher! makes it easy to get a good grade! i'm now obsessed w/ math....weird i know.
last semester was his first year teaching at sbcc. overall he teaches very well and he knows his stuff - the only problem is that he gets REALLY annoyed with every simple question you ask! so you shouldn't even dare to raise your hand to ask something because he will get angry. quizzes and exams aren't too hard and he drops many of the assignments.
chang is amazing. at first i didnt really like him--thought he was a little short tempered. but he really wants everyne to succeed and hes a really chill guy if u actually want to learn.
I had Mr. Chang in the fall. Chang is a tough love kind of guy, very strict on late work and make up. But he is an awesome professor. Firt math class I ever liked & I wanted to take another stats class this semester because of him. He is a really caring guy, reminds me of a big panda bear you just want to hug. I miss his class already.
At first Mr. Chang was kind of intimidating. He didn't seem to really like people that much but as the course went on, he turned out to be an awesome teacher. He wants everyone to pass, and really does try and help out. Sometimes he can have a short temper, but overall great, organized teacher. Would recommend if you really want to learn.
I TOOK CHANGS CLASS AND I ADMIT I LEARNED! HE IS A GREAT TEACHER. HE IS ORGANIZED AND U DO LEARN IN HIS CLASS, BUT HIS PERSONALITY DOES NOT HELP HIM MUCH! I NEVER FELT COMFORTABLE ASKING QUESTIONS BECUSE THE ONLY TIME I ASKED A QUESTION, HE MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS STUPID!TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN, HE IS ANTISOCIAL AND RUDE!
A girl in math lab recommended Chang for Stats, and it was the best decision I ever made. He is an amazing teacher and great mentor. By far the best teacher I have had at SBCC. Very positive and motivates me to do my best even though I had some problems. If you care about learning & want to be challenged to do your best, I highly recommend him.
Lee Chang is a baller. Best math class I have taken by far. Go to his office hours and do the review problems and your golden. He drops your worst test you take and 3 quizzes. Class was a lot of fun. He loves the spurs
good teacher, once you get passed his demeaning humor you learn a lot. Warning, you should be thick skinned. Take his comments with a grain of salt.
Chang RULES! I've never had a teacher care so much about the success of the class. He really takes the time to make sure everyone is understanding the material, and although he cannot wait for those who do a half a**ed job to keep up with the rest of the class, those who show and do the work are rewarded by his great humor and personality.
he is a great teacher and for once really enjoyed his class. I love how he teaches and he will reward you if you put the effort in! great teacher!! sucks at geo challenge though
seriously AMAZING. I could go on and on about how seriously amazing he is but really there is not enough room right here. He is SO friendly and SO helpful and not just as a teacher but a real true friend. LOVE ya Chang!!! :]
DO NOT TAKE CHANG! Well, unless you want to feel like a dumb ass for not understanding the material. He talks down to his students, and makes you feel retarded if you have a question. He is mean, and cold. I feel really bad for some of the people in my class who do not understand because he makes them feel like idiots. Do not recommend taking him!
Chang is a cool dude! I took him for Math 107 and Stats and he was really helpful. Hands out (or has you print out) chapter overviews that you do in class with him that come in really handy. Definitely recommend!
i wouldnt recommend him for math 107. he makes people feel stupid for not being at his level, "cool" or drop dead stunning. his attitude gives me the impression he hates answering questions. i have spent many hrs outside of class to understand what i dont pick up in his class. he is a sour patch, unless he likes you, you'll like the class.
Chang is a good teacher, very organized & clear. He clearly cares a lot and wants you to succeed. He cares so much that it frustrates him when people rufuse to at least meet him half way. Dont know about the people below, but he spends a lot of time going over hw questions. Makes a boring subject bearable. Definitely recommend.
Hey is very cool! Don't like useless questions so think before you speak. Drops one test and five quizzes. And gives extra credit points for anything wrong he does. Goes fast but gets to the point! I would take him again any day.
Please take him. He will help you pass no matter what. He is sarcastic so I guess if you can't handle that, then don't take it. But it's all in fun. He truly cares about his students and makes this usually boring class entertaining. As long as you show interest in improving he'll do whatever it takes to make you understand. He's amazing :)
chang is one chill teacher. He really helps you alot on passing the class anbd provides many oppurtunities to pass it. Id reccomend to take him but be prepared to meet half way with this guy. He doesnt like halfass work or questions
I've taken some highly rated professors on this site, stats included, only to come away disappointed. While they were nice, they were not very good teachers. Chang is very very good at teaching stats, and makes it fun. He demands punctuality and full effort. Bottom line, take him if you really want to learn.
he is really helpful and willing to help you and get you a better grade if you pay attention in class and do your homework.
AMAZING TEACHER. I am not a math person at all but Chang explains everything so well i understood everything in the class. The in class notes he does are sooo helpful and make the class 100 times easier to understand. Definitely take him in your bad at math an need great explanation of concepts!
He is one of the best math professors I have ever had, very fair. About him breaking down in class, that was only because he cares so much about each student and shows it. I would rather have a teacher that cares, than one that doesn't. He is very clear and if you follow his lectures, do the HW and respect him you should succeed in his class.
Mr. Chang overall is a good instructor; however I feel that he favors students who are strong math learners. In our class it seemed like the students who were not strong in math skills didn?t receive as much attention.
Wow. Chang is the man. Very clear, explains concepts well, talks loud to keep you awake and alert (great for 8am classes), and doesn't deal with bulls%it (which I like in a professor) Take him! He's great
Mr. Chang is awesome! He really cares about his students and gives you every opportunity to succeed. I highly recommend taking a course with him.
Not very friendly or personable. Talks to us like we're a bunch of idiots. Treats students like we're in Jr high school. Wastes 10-15 minutes every class on motivational speeches. He's probably good at teaching stats, but wouldn't recommend him for anything else (especially calculus).
He is a teacher that will put in effort to helping you if you prove/show your commitment to the class. He is a good teacher and demands effort on your part. His class times are horrible because he is new, but it is worth it to take his class.
He is a great teacher! ignore all the negative comments he is great! Ive had him for 3 math courses. He is completely fair & truely does CARE about his students success. Do your homework & study, he will recognize it & help you out in the end. I am not a math person at all but he made it easy to understand! TAKE HIM!!dont take him if your a slacker
Chang is great! I usually get lazy in math then lost but Chang kept my attention from the start He is thorough but if you don't pay attention then he has 0 patience for you, which I agree with 100% He gets frustrated when people don't understand so he makes a HUGE effort to get the class to understand. work load is not stressful!
Great stats teacher! Knows how to explain the material and very thorough with the notes and examples. Nothing unexpected on tests. Just make sure to follow his directions exactly and show an interest in learning or else he will get annoyed at you and call you out, but he does seem to genuinely care about his students. Highly recommend!
Professor Chang is really helpful and clear. As someone who is not a fan of math, I enjoyed his class. He makes sure that his students know that they can achieve an 'A' if they chose to work hard, and he's available for help. He took everything really slow, which helped me because it takes me a while to truly understand math, so I liked this class.
Gives lots of tools - notes, calc videos, practice probs.- to ensure you succeed. Has zero patience if you don't try 200% to figure things out yourself before asking him. Be very clear when you are brave enough to ask him. Likes students to ask other students for help. Gives pep talks repeatedly. Not sure they're effective after the 5th one.
he is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. If you want to succeed, he will help you. If you are lazy and don't do the work, he has no patience for you. Overall, he is extremely fair and gives you the grade that you deserve. I highly recommend taking any class with him.
Crystal clear! Makes Stats very easy and interesting. Do all the HW, all the PP, attend class and you will get an A ! He cares about your success!
Best math teach I have ever had! He is super clear. Moves at the classes pace. Very helpfull. Great notes and examples. Had him for three classes and got an A in all of them. If you don't like math take him and you will love math.
made me love math. so amazing. love him wish i could take more of his classes. he is so clear and as long as you do the hw and study you will be fine. he wants the best for you and actually cares. great teacher
Best math class I have ever taken by far! So clear and straight forward... something I thought I would never say about an online class. no surprises on the test, all problems were straight from the assigned homework. Just make an effort and you will do fine, he gives all the necessary resources
Because of Professor Chang, I am taking 2 math classes next semester with him again. He is extremely helpful and he gets the class together. The first time in my life I've received an A in math! I'm very proud of it!
he is such a great guy. he is a dedicated teacher and really cares about his students. he explains things very well and is also funny. It was my second time taking the class and i recommend him. im taking him next year. best math teacher!
Lee is a fantastic math teacher. He is incredibly clear with what he asks of his students and provides all the information you'll need. I love his no BS attitude and was surprised by how inspired by him I was. He helped make me a better student. Truly a great teacher. I highly recommend him.
Baller, always gave out valuable information. I never received a problem on an exam that I hadn't seen on previous practice problems. Sets the bar high but the bar is very reachable. Best Math teacher have come across.
Great math teacher. Doen't have a very good personality but overall a good class and very possible to get an A in the class. He likes you if you put in the effort and he preaches about this every day of class. " you do you r part and I will gladly do mine". Recommend taking him because the notes and teacher go hand in hand. Take him only for math.
One of the best Math teachers at SBCC. Unlike other math teachers, he really wants you to succed. He will sometimes be strickt about some stuff, like he did not give me extra credit since I was late to class twice despite the fact that I always did good in his class. However, overall he is a correct person and a great professor.
Online. This class is definitely crafted so that if you do the assignments, you'll do fine on the tests. I'm really out of my element with math and this wasn't bad at all. It does require studying though. I spent from 6 to 10 hrs a week on this class.
Very, very clear on what he expects from his students. He is my favorite math teacher I have came across. I have taken him for two classes now and I have been very impressed by his teaching style. He makes it very easy to get an A if you do all the assignments and show up every class. Highly, Highly recommend him!!!
Excellent professor, one of the best I have had here. Although I didn't do too well, it was mainly my fault. He explains and reviews everything and doesn't move on in lessons until you know it. There is a lot of homework every week, but it will help you for the semi-difficult tests and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory or you will be dropped.
Although Lee Chang has pleased many students he is NOT for everybody. As a person, he was very fun to chat with. He wanted to help us succeed, but reprimanding us probably 75% of the time didn't help with our learning. If you understand math at a steady pace, then Mr. Chang is a strong choice. But if you need ALOT of time, find someone else.
Prof. Chang's instruction is appropriate to the particular class' learning speed. He's patient, clear yet stern, and has reasonable expectations. He also provides little lectures on learning skills and applications that are very insightful and help a person with math anxiety. I was afraid of this course until Prof. Chang.
Lee was such a great teacher. I was really scared to take Stats because I didn't really know what it was and I'm not too great at math but he was there for me all the way. He explains things very clearly. He drops a lot of tests, quizzes, and homeworks. So if you have a bad week, you can still get an A.
Mr. Chang spends 20 min of Class lecturing to us on how we were not stepping up to the plate as a class. He definitely has his favorites and this causes an uncomfortable atmosphere for learning. He is moody and I would avoid him at all costs.
Fantastic teacher! Very organized, clear, and doesn't like dealing with BS. This is my second class with him and I wish he teaches 120 on campus. If you want an easy A without doing much, Chang is not your guy. If you want to learn and become a better student, take him.
Very good teacher. He will give you all the tools and advice you need to succeed, but he's not at all easy. His work is challenging so pay attention and study. But if you do you'll do great. He'll answer every question you have clearly and concisely.
Best math teacher ever!! he's so easy and nice just do all the work and you'll get an A
This professor really cares about his students. He makes sure to have a loud/clear voice for his classes! DO NOT BE LATE. The way he teaches, makes the material easy to grasp. Was not a "math person" before this class, but as he will probably mention... those don't exist. Go to the tutor. Oh and DO NOT BE LATE. :)
Rude teacher. I had really tried to do well in this class and he was so mean to the point that he made me cry. Don't take his class. He is the worst teacher one can have for math and has no empathy for students who are really trying. Maybe one day he will be reincarnated as a girl and see what it feels like to be so put down.
He is such a good teacher. He is very clear and organized, answers hw questions every class, lectures at a decent pace. No surprises on quizzes or tests. I already signed up for his 130 class. Textbook rarely ever used, other than for homework.
I took Lee's immersion math class so I could get my math requirement done with. After taking his class I have now switched my major to a math based one and I owe every bit of it to him. Lee is one of the most outstanding teachers SBCC has and he really wants you to succeed. The only thing Lee needs is for you to care and put in legit effort
chooses favorites. don't ask dumb questions (try to avoid questions in the middle of class entirely). hands down favorite teacher so far, made me love math. easy class if you follow along and do your work, also easy to fall behind
I did the first 8 weeks as 107 and the second 117. I have to say he tells you straight up if you don't care then don't come. If you put in the effort he will help you. This was my third time taking 107 I dropped the last two times by it was just too hard. I passed with flying colors didn't need to take final and I also passed 117 with an A!!! Best
I've had to take this course a couple times but Chang is extremely fair with grading & helpful to those who PUT IN THE EFFORT. He sincerely cares for his students & really wants everyone to pass but he does NOT want to deal with BS. He has a good sense a humor so you can depend on a nice class. NOT AN EASY A TEACHER! PUT IN THE EFFORT! DONT BE LATE
I was worried about this class at first, especially being online because it takes a LOT of time and work, however Lee really gives you every opportunity to do well. He makes videos explaining problems, gives study guides, is extremely fair with exams and does not tolerate slackers. Do the work and you will get a good grade in this class!
I took this guy. Don't know why he's among the highest rated teachers. My friend took this class, had a tragedy come up, and she asked if she could take the upcoming exam the week after. His response: "I don't care what you're going through." She broke down into tears. "Get out of my office!" was his response. Any question's a stupid one. Beware.
I took this class online and it was really straightforward and very clear. He is very helpful but you have to ask! He likes people who put in the time and effort to seek help. Meet the deadlines for the etext readings and assignments. His guided notes really help as well. His tests and the class in general is meant for you to succeed.
By far the most intense, demanding math teacher I've had so far at SBCC. This made him intimidating at first but then I began to appreciate his teaching methods because he really wants his students to succeed. He drops your lowest scores, which really helps at the end. Do your HW everyday and it'll prepare you well for tests. Strenuous class.
His class is HARD! TONS of work & DIFFICULT concepts. But he has TONS of office hours and drops several of your lowest scores, including replacing one test score with the final grade. He basically make it impossible not to pas if you don't try. Don't give up! The resources are there!! He WILL help you get through if you're willing to help yourself!
Professor chang is one of the best math teachers i have ever had. Math is easily my least favorite subject and he managed to make me motivated. He is very clear, doesn't make you do the busy work involved in math, and is very straightforward with what is on the tests and what work he wants to see on your problems. Drop several tests, hw, quizzes.
I have hated and suffered through math my entire life, but with Lee I ended the semester with an 88% and a thorough knowledgeenjoyment of statistics. He comes off as mean and harsh at first, and you do have to follow all of his rules to pass, but he does it for a reason. He's strict, no doubt, but gives you everything you need to pass.
Professor Chang was exceptionally hard on some students and very reasonable with others. If you take school seriously he is respectful and tends to give you more credit for being serious. He does have a sense of humor and he loves his sports. His casual personality is nice for a change since the students related to him a lot. Recommend for sure!
Really great teacher. He is challenging but if you work hard it is easy to get an A. He is moody and rude but towards the end of the semester eases up on students. He demand respect but is a really nice guy. Easy to get a B or A. Do the homework and practice problems! BEWARE DON'T ASK QUESTIONS. Just go to the tutor.
I am shocked to see this professor have such a high rating on here. My experience with him has been terrible. I am a straight-A, honor roll student and a tutor (so I'm not one to expect to just get-by in a class). This professor however, made succeeding in the class very difficult. He is extremely rude and replies to emails very late! Avoid him!!
He is a really good Calculus teacher. Very clear. Class goes at a good pace. Nice set up. Very stern early, but fair. Really opens up later and is actually quite funny. He really cares about your success. Highly recommend. But don't take him if you are easily offended, as he is definitely a straight shooter.
Very tough on his students but it's just because he wants the best for you. Very understanding and considerate to students who are working hard in and out of school. His class is very student-centered; he wants everyone to succeed. Homework and tests are very reasonable to say the least.
Chang has the maturity of a 12 year old boy but makes up for it by having all the notes and everything you need to get a good grade in his class if he likes you. If he doesn't well then as I said 12 year old boy.
Mr. Chang has been my favorite teacher at SBCC. He tells you exactly what is expected of you in the class in order to succeed. I got pretty bad grades my first semester at sbcc but then my second semester I had Mr. Chang and his class taught me how important it is to put forth effort and that half-assing my work wasn't going to get me anywhere.
Summer Stats. Baller. No one has ever made me understand math and kept my attention in class like Chang did. Demanding for sure, but extremely fair and lots of extra credit if you are a hard worker.
Chang is the best math teacher I've ever had. He wants you to pass! Stats isn't always easy but he really does give you every opportunity to pass
Took Chang for stats and he was the bomb! So helpful and always willing to help when you need him. He gave extra credit and tests were not easy but not impossible. Attendance was mandatory, miss 3 classes and he will drop you. Explained things really well and was a great professor overall. I would take him again if I could.
Professor Chang's class was fairly easy considering math is a difficult subject for me. He explains everything clearly but you have to pay attention during the lectures if you want to understand the homework and tests. He notices/appreciates those of which put in a lot of effort. Overall a really good teacher!
I took Professor Chang's online class and found it to be a great way to learn the material. The class is very organized and clear about what needs to be done and how things are graded. There's three tests and the lowest score is then replaced by the score you get on the final exam. Really helpful, fair, and responsive teacher!
He can be really tough, but if you go to class, pay attention, and do exactly what he expects and show him that you are genuinely making an effort, he is awesome. I hated math, and he made it bearable. He truly wants his students to do well.
Honestly I took his online class and I suck at online classes. I don't think they work for me. He is VERY clear. like, crystal clear - he emails you exactly what to expect and his tests are based on the practice homework he gives you. It is TIME CONSUMING!!! I did my assignments last minute and got a C+. Spend adequate time and you'll do great!
He was super clear, but there was a beastly amount of homework. I think I spent more time on this class during that semester than I ever have on any class so far.
He was a really tough teacher. He was kind of condescending and anytime you asked a question he automatically got really aggressive. He called us stupid a lot. The tests are difficult but if you study hard it's okay. If you need help, find it elsewhere because he will not help you.
Chang made me enjoy stats. He is a man who stands by his word. He remembers everything. Lectures are straightforward and he has printed notes which makes it so much easier to follow and to study for homework and tests. Attendance is a big part of the class. Keep an organized binder and don't be late and you'll get a lot of easy extra credit points.
First time I ever took stats and he made me fall in love with it! AMAZING PROFESSOR!! Doesn't mind repeating on how to do a problem until you understand it. Lots of hmwk (not due until end of chapter right before exam) make sure you do hmwk he uses questions from there on quizzes and exams! Gives partner quizzes majority of the time.
Starting this class I thought I would fail. Lots of quizzes/assignments on mathlab. He changes lowest exam score with the final grade, and one chance for extra credit so despite how strictly he runs his online class he really does want students to pass. Do the work and you'll be fine. His worked through examples always end up on the exams
Love this professor!!! He is very clear on his expectations, he is very smart, funny and he will like you if you are a good student. I have always struggled with math, but I took him for stats and he was phenomenal! He does make you work for your grade, so be prepared to attend every class and to pay attention. Definitely recommend!
I took his online stats class and if you didn't get an A then you were just lazy because he made it crystal clear that if you just do the work you should get an A. And if you struggle with math, then he has lots of office hours to help kids. The only thing I will say is that he's super monotone so try not to fall asleep if you take this in class.
Good teacher if you are willing to put in the work required.
Makes students work hard for a good grade. Be prepared to devote time to this class. One good thing is that he does drop a few quizzes and homework assignments and one exam!
extremely strict teacher! He is very tough on his students and yes he wants you to succeed but sometimes he is unnecessarily rude. He is a great teacher but not exactly a great person. If you do all of the work and follow all of his instructions exactly you will get a good grade but you must be dedicated. He does offer extra credit
Chang is a great professor. Pretty strict guy, but you get your work done and actually learn the material. Definitely lecture heavy, but he outlines the notes for you and is transparently clear about what he expects from you since day 1. Do your work, show up, and ask questions, he takes his time with every single lecture and never rushes anything.
It's a shame I was actually doing pretty well, but I ended up dropping the class because the teacher had such bad attitude. I would email and ask a simple question and get an uncalled for mean response back for no reason. Very strict and not flexible also. The work was manageable, the teacher is the big problem here. Unbelievable!
Chang can be tough, but that made me a better student. He is very organized and clear. Took him for both 117 and 130. If you show interest and effort, he will work with you. He can be intimidating at first and is extremely blunt. But a great teacher and a good guy if you talk to him. Slackers stay away!
Summer online course moves EXTREMELY fast. A lot to absorb in six weeks. Be prepared to devote 10-15 hours a week. Assignments are due Mondays and Thursdays. Three exams must be taken on campus or, if out of the area, with a proctor vetted by professor. Fair grader. Wants students to succeed.
I took this class online/over summer and it was a breeze. Just remember to do all of the work each week and you'll get an A. His test are very easy and he's very straight forward on whats going to be on the Exams. He even gets rid of two of your work homework/quiz scores and if you do better on the final he'll replace an Exam score with that.
He knows what he's teaching but is condescending and talks to his students like they are stupid. He makes it intimidating to ask questions and is mostly rude when he answers questions. You definitely need to put in a lot of work but he makes his expectations and policies very clear.
I mean he is okay. A bit rude and blunt. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy who wants to help you succeed. I am sure there are better teachers out there for this class. He even comes off rude in emails!
Chang explains everything clearly. He is very organized. The class is very structured. He can be strict at times, but also has a dry sarcastic sense of humor. If you care about learning the materials, you wont find a better teacher. If you dont, there are way easier teachers out there.
Don't let the surfer getup and dry demeanor fool you, Chang is very passionate about his job. Probably the best math teacher I have had. Very straightforward, clear in both explanation and expectations, and despite what others say, he truly cares about his students. He is very fair. Bottom line: if you put in the work, he will notice.
I was terrified to take math, but this class turned out to be my favorite of the semester! Lee cares about his students and it shows in the extra effort he puts into grading. He drops your lowest scores, and gives you extra points (a 15/16 would be counted as 100%). Really responsive to emails, and wants to make sure you succeed. Great professor!
One thing that really bothered me is that he didn't go over tests or quizzes so you were left to figure out what you did wrong by asking a neighbor, not fun for an introvert. Other than that he was pretty typical of a college professor. Try not to ask questions in class cause you might get ignored. Tests were fairly easy if you don't miss class!
Chang is a smart, no nonsense kind of guy. He'll be annoyed if you ask dumb questions, however he's very experienced and explains almost everything. Very clear about what's on exams, sometimes it's the exact same problems. He does give a lot of homework, because he believes in repetition. Pay attention in class, study, and you can get an A.
He always made everyone feel bad if we got something wrong.
While most people say that he is rude, this can be true. He is straightforward and wont take any bullsh*t. If you do the work and listen in class, it is easy. Lee Chang wants you to succeed. He will help you if you put in the effort and listen to his advice. His lectures are very clear, and he does a great job.
great professor! Hes rooting for you just dont get on his bad side. Overall an easy class and its very straightforward. Quizzes are straight from the notes and homework as well as exams. Allows for Group quizzes. Follow his rules to succeed. Easy piecey. Seriously. Hes not evil just do what your told hes only honest/blunt. Do your part !!
Lee Chang is a great professor. He explains the material well and his tests and quizzes are straightforward, study the notes, do the homework, and you will succeed. Sure, hes sometimes rude and intimidating to talk to, but dont let that make you feel bad. He will always help you if you have good questions. He really wants his students to succeed.
like what everyone else said, rude, condescending, makes you feel dumb.
He does try to build relationship with students by offering to have lunch w/him and being available in office hours, but he is super intimidating and disrespectful to students who don't understand the content of the course, even when they are trying their best.
Great stats teacher. Chang is super clear in both his lectures and what he expects from you. For the first time ever, I felt like I really learned something in math. He is definitely a no nonsense kind of guy. Just follow his advice and you will do well.
If you can take stats with another professor i would suggest you choose a different professor to take it with. He is not the most helpful teacher, and he belittles you if he thinks your question is dumb.
Honestly Chang is one of the best and hardest working teachers. Some people don't like him because he is brutally honest and does get frustrated when students aren't showing effort. He does want you to succeed and be a better student. I rather have a teacher who is clear, fair, and challenges me to do my best.
Lee is a great professor, respectful with rich in experience of teaching. His lectures and instructions are clear and direct, it won't be hard to get an A if you follow all his directions, show up at the classes and spend at least some time before each of the three exams. He will be some kind of tough if you keep showing up late. TAKE HIM!!
He tends to be very vague in the SSPS assignments. Definitely go to the math lab for help. He does give tons of EC and lets you replace your final exam grade with the lowest midterm score. He's not the most approachable professor, but he responds fast to emails. If you take STATS with him, be sure to be on top of your work and quizzes! He's tough.
Not the easiest Professor to communicate with and also strict, but I think cares about student success. If going to his office hours be sure to have exhausted all efforts and have specific questions. Took this class online so you're kind of on your own, but his video demonstrations were helpful because he tell you exactly what he is looking for.
I did not even take this class, i emailed the professor and the response i got regarding the class was more than enough. This gentleman who some how got their credential in order to teach at a college level should return to elementary school and learn the basics of humanity before teaching. Whatever you do, DO NOT, and i repeat, DO NOT take this.
I wasnt sure about taking this class bc it is online and bc of mixed reviews. Everything turned out fine. He is strict on deadlines, but drops 4 weekly quizzes. Tests can be hard but he gives you free points. Very responsive to emails. Watch his videos each week as they are helpful for tests. Bottom line, do your part and you will do well
Lee Chang was a rude professor and belittled everyone. He ignored medical notes and never answered emails. Tough grader and graded peoples work even harder if he didnt like the person. He complained a lot. Get out of his class while you have the chance.
I honestly hate math because it is not my strong suit but I took this class thinking I was for sure going to fail and surprisingly I didn't (a C isn't super good either but I'll settle). Professor Chang provides a lot of homework and lectures to go over to really understand the material and pass his exams.
Worst math teacher I have had at SBCC. He refuses to try to understand students when they are asking questions and invalidates by saying that their questions don't "make any sense". DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS if you are not strong/fast at math. He openly blames/calls out students for needing more help when he is poor at teaching a subject.
Great teacher. He is very organized. He gives you note packets every chapter and post lecture notes in Canvas. He hands back HW and quizzes quickly. Textbook is only used for HW. He does demand effort from you and can be strict at times, but is fair in assigning grades. He wants you to succeed and if you follow his advice, you will.
Do not recommend registering for his MATH137 Online Summer class. Summer classes are usually condensed and fast-paced. However, professors usually tailor an online course to meet such demands. This professor does not record his lectures & assigns an unrealistic amount of problems due in a short amount of time. Exams are proctored via Zoom.
NOT A TEACHER! Let me make this clear, Lee Chang does not teach math, he only supplies material. Ive had good math teachers before him who actual know math and how to teach it, Lee Chang is the opposite and weird about doing things his way, which is irregular and confusing. Dont waste your time.
The most emotionally exhausting thing I've ever done. Online class and he just assigned videos he didn't make to teach you. Basically made to teach myself math, then graded harshly on how well I taught myself. I didn't ask questions from fear of being ridiculed. Cried every week in this class from stress. Maybe he can teach, doesn't mean he should.
He's very straightforward and plans out the class, but leaves no room for improvement. He never really taught, but then again this was an online class and he did the best he could and is very intimidating. But, understands you and when you do have questions or concerns he answers. I wouldn't recommend taking math online over the summer. Difficult.
I disliked that there was not much credit for work, so if the answer is wrong, you will get little to no points even if some of the work is correct. He clearly knows what he is doing, but I would't call him the best teacher. He wasn't very understanding or helpful. He also makes you feel stupid for asking questions.
I took him for 130 in person in Spring, it became online bc of the pandemic. Dont really get the hate. He is very clear and organized in person. None of my teachers knew what they were doing after we went online except for Chang. Because of that, I took 117 with him in the Summer and got an A. Not an easy A, but take him if you are willing to work
A lot of people hate on Chang, but for the online course he was great! Very organized/clear with what he expected. The weekly quizzes using Connect Math were not too difficult, but you definitely have to know the material. Posted lectures were extremely helpful, there are many extra credit opportunities. Don't hesitate to ask for help if needed too
This class is challenging. Chang is very stern and will not help you if you dont come in with very specific questions. He made me feel like an idiot and I cried while meeting with him. The last time I cried in class was probably 2nd grade. He does replace your lowest test score with your final if its better.
Ive only been in the class for 3 weeks but he seems like a real stand up guy who wants his students to learn. I dont know why he gets so much hate on here, if you go to office hours he is a very warm and friendly person, (outside of his sterness in class)
I am definitely not a math person and was very nervous to take stats. I am so glad I took Chang because he made me enjoy this class. He was always available to help when needed and provides great notes which really help with the exams. Along with that, his grading makes it easy to get over 100% on assignments. I really recommend his class!
I am absolutely horrible at math, but Stats is the FIRST math I've actually understood thanks to Lee Chang. I took this class online and if you watch his lecture videos and practice problem videos you will pass this class with flying colors!! He is a great teacher and very nice. I would take this class again. Thank you professor Chang!
He can be strict, you have to show up willing to learn and not slack off one bit, class can be fast paced, lots of notes, lots of studying. But, if you keep up with the workload it's a great class.
Took this class in the summer. He's a very strict teacher but o ly because he tells you exactly what to do in order to succeed. I learned by just doing all hw problems and watching the videos he posted online which are very clear and his lectures
The concepts are pretty simple and there are many opportunities to do well. However, Lee Chang doesn't make it enjoyable AT ALL. All of his descriptions on what to do are hard to understand. He is condescending when answering questions over email. He requires students to complete exams within a specific 3-hour time frame on test day.
Lee Chang was rude and intimidating. When I turned to a tutor for help, he punished me with zeros on tests and assignments for using alternative more practical methods my tutor had taught me. He insisted on using only his methods, but wasn't helpful when I didn't understand them. If you struggle in math, I strongly advise against taking his classes
Worst class ever. Offers 0 credit for late work, 0 make up exams (3-hour window), 0 understanding 4 students. He's very rude via email virtual office hrs no sympathy for students w jobs. Take any other professor unless u have no other choice. busy wrk & hard exams. Inaccessible, use of aleks reflects severe lack of effort.
I haven't finished this course yet but already there is so much homework. Every problem must be written out and hand solved. If you don't write the question down or solve it a different way, you will lose points. I had no other options for teachers for this course - don't take this class unless you want to spend hours a day doing homework.
completely PETTY and horrible to students. Will not accommodate students needs. Very strict and 5+ hours a day of homework. Take literally ANYONE else.
Tough grader. Takes off points for useless things. Way too much homework even for a compact summer class. Spent 5+ hours daily and weekends. Slow grader. Although, '23 is first time offering a 5wk course, executed poorly. Lectures/videos are very bland. Very vague and difficult to contact. Gets mad if you email instead of joining office hours.
The material is straight forward if you pay attention but its his attitude that's the problem. Very strict and expresses his dislike to my class during lectures. He is frankly intimidating and would not like to ask questions in fear of him getting upset. Students shouldn't have to feel like this when seeking help.
My 137 teacher taught only one class and had lots of time to help outside the classroom. Mr. Chang taught six classes and had no time, or desire, to help us. He always seemed irritated.
I really enjoyed Mr.Changs class and thought he did a great job of explaining everything. As long as you did the homework assigned and listened to his lectures, I felt it was very easy to do well.
Mr. Chang does not make me feel comfortable asking for help. He alway seems irritated or annoyed by something. My other teachers are much more approachable. Since his salary is close to $300k per year, you would think he would work harder at being nice.
Professor Chang is not soft and does not soften any blows, he is upfront, honest, and good at what he does. Although he can be blunt, he is an incredible teacher and I wish he taught every section of math. If you cannot handle brut honesty or uncomfortable confrontation, he might not be the professor for you. He is very talented at his job.
Professor Chang has set up his curriculum to be extremely smooth and expected. There are no surprises in his class and he is extremely upfront. If you put the work and do the necessary homework which is extremely reasonable, you will succeed in his class. Great teaching style and organization, quizzes are often open-note or partnered at choice.
Yes professor Chang can be brutal with his deliveries but he is honest and there is nothing unexpected in his class which I respect. Show up on time, do your work, and ask questions you will succeed. His brutal upfronted-ness honestly pushed me to be better. Definitely intimidating on the first day but he is really a great professor.
He isn't very understanding or helpful and his classes are extremely boring. However he does know his subject well
This guy is tough, I'm not the best at math, but he is not forgiving. Never missed one class, but he insisted I did and didn't give me extra credit because of that. Screwed up on one test at the beginning of the year, and spent the whole time playing catch-up. Regularly yelled at the class too. That being said, I did learn a lot just a lil rude
Do not take this professor if you value your time, energy, or mental stability. This professor is talented at making you feel stupid for every action/thing he deems wrong. Don't even try being nice, being cordial will not save you from his attitude. He will embarrass and/or berate you in front of the class for things as common as being distracted.
Strict. Has favorites. May be a good teacher for a very specific learning style. Discusses equations in depth. Places an understanding of the topic over how to do the actual math. Confusing and sometimes rude.
He was very condescending and not a great teacher. He makes jokes that aren't funny and at others' expense. I didn't like him. He knows his subject but the lectures are extremely boring and there is a lot of work required. Most of the class is just calculator language and you don't learn anything useful for your future except probability.
just so unnecessarily rude to people for no reason, picks favorites and makes fun of others in the class. clearly knows what he's teaching but his lectures are very confusing and there's an overwhelming amount of work he assigns.
Very rude professor. Doesn't care about the students. Gloats about using taxpayer dollars to travel around the world.
Don't take this professor unless you enjoy being degraded and want to leave every class feeling worthless. Extremely tough grader, absolutely no lenience, and downright rude. Said numerous times that if we can't do things his way then we should “go enjoy our lives”… that says enough.
Do not take this, professor, if you value your time, energy, or mental stability!!!! Plenty of office hours are available, but he's great at making you feel stupid if you don't understand a concept, as he is not great at answering questions! DO NOT TAKE WITH HIM IF MATH IS YOUR WEAK SUBJECT, AS HE IS NOT MUCH HELP!
do not take his class. thumbs down.
He knew what he was talking about but didn't know how to express it to students. He didn't know how to speak with students in a constructive way. He comes off as rude, and while that could have been offset by good teaching, he didn't offer that either.
Only nice ever talking about himself and his trips. Dude is self absorbed does not care about others.
Rude, doesn't explain what you did wrong on a test when you ask, just annoyingly shrugs you off as if he doesn't have the time of day to help you. Talks about himself a lot and is only willing to answer a question if it is about himself or a trip he has gone on. Doesn't let you make up anything, even if you had to miss class for an emergency. HATE
Just don't take this class. Makes you feel dumb for asking questions. Insufferable person to be around everything is black and white for him.
Needs a reality check on how he wants to treat people if he's gonna treat his students without caring about questions. Only ever cares to answer about his trips and where he goes. Taking 15 min out of class just to talk about his trips and be happy and then go back to being insufferable
Difficult, but fair. He's very good at explaining the course content, however, he can be really sassy, especially if you incorrectly answer one of his questions during the lecture. If you pay attention in class and do the practice problems, you should be fine.
rude man who does not treat people correctly. the workload was easy and subjects were easy if you paid attention but he needs an attitude adjustment and some more love and compassion to share wow.
This guy is so mean. Genuinely the worst teacher i've ever had. He made me cry multiple times. Genuinely awful. Please don't waste your time please. His lectures are repetitive and if you ask questions he will not slow down or take the time to help. If you go ask him questions he will begrudgingly answer them for you.
literally the rudest professer i've ever met. almost made me cry on multiple occasions. makes you feel stupid and praises his favorite students in front of you. he is a nice person but not a nice professer. reminds me of a strict asian parent (if ykyk). would never take his class ever again.
Seriously THE worst teacher I have ever had in all years of my education. I have never met someone so rude, ignorant, and proud of being a complete douche bag. He doesn't give a shit about his students and demoralizes you for asking him a question. I truly hope he reads this so he will be inspired to quit his job. I could say so much more about him
Before attending class I wouldn't look both ways before crossing the street because of how badly I wanted to be saved from this insufferable course. He is the problem, he is the reason a majority of his students drop the class or are failing by the end of the first month. I am not one to see the bad in people, but this guy made me miserable.
avoid at any and all costs. any good review on here has to be coming from a teachers pet who is already good at the subject but no hate to those people just watch out for this prof
