doesnt have cs degree
cornell is an awesome teacher....take a few minutes and get to know him.
Good professor, slightly boring at sometimes. Nice guy, makes class semi-fun
low quality teaching, but not the worst. personally he's very rude. i don't like the way he looks at girls (needs moral improvement in this area).
he is so aweful....
Class was very easy, Lee is understanding of missing deadlines if you have a good reason. I have no problem with the guy and I like that he tries to get to know his students. And to the other person, I never felt like he looked at girls weird.

One of the worst professor ever. Use favoritism. Lacks total knowledge of Computer Science. Should not be teaching advanced Computer Science classes.
He seems like a good person, but my god. His lectures are the most unhelpful waste of time. I didn't learn anything from his lectures except for about his personal life. He's very repetitive and doesn't seem like he knows what he's talking about.
Fairly easy professor. Tests are usually multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank. Nice guy.
this class is very horrible because he always talks about his family. also his lectures are very boring and mmisunderstanding. His tests are very hard. i don't recammanded anyone to take this class. He sucks! don't even think about it. he is a good guy.
funny guy, bad teacher if you are his kind of person you're golden, if not good luck, he uses a lot of favoritism, also he leaves the class to talk to people in the hallways a lot
he should not be teaching this class...going to class was a waste of time because he has no idea what he's talking about and is very rude and not understanding if u missed a few classes due to illness and health problems
Great professor. He will help you if you spend the time to actually do your work before you come to hinm with questions. Lectures are helpful if you pay attention and ask questions. HE is much better than some of the professors in the COMS department.
Tries to be a funny guy, but at 8 in the morning it doesn't work for him. Class seems pretty pointless to go to, I haven't learned a thing. Just hope the test tomorrow will be the same and I can get out of there in 10 minutes
I really enjoy having Cornell as a professor. I think he is funny, and that the only reason some people don't like him is because he discretly mocks them and they don't understand what he's talking about. If you put forth any effort, this class is simple.
His class is really hard to sit through, but he is pretty funny. I don't think he knows what he is talking about sometimes, it looks like he is reading his lecture straight off the power point. not cool.
Your pillow needs a pillow
Cornell is hilarious in a beligerant, take-down-The-Man kind of way. I enjoyed his odd, dad-like sense of humor. He seems to mainly teach the intro-level courses, so if you're serious about being a CS major, you'll do fine.
You either love him or hate him. Has a sense of humor (of some sort) and knows how to use the projector to not waste time with the white board and dried up markers. Had frequent small assignments that were easy.
i hate him, he is boring..and who care what you think about the computers system...who cares your opoion...tests are ridiculous....and he would never willing to help about the assignments...even you get extremely frustrated...i don't like him at all!
The worst class ever. Lectures are so boring. He is so boring and stupid, his "jokes" are horrible. Doesn't go over assignments and they are pretty hard. Online tests are impossible and his in-class tests are hard and his asks stupid questions. DON'T TAKE HIM!
Boring class, but you get used to it, not hard to receive an A or B, take this guy for Coms101 I hear the other professors are worse.
Cornell is a very laid back teacher. His tests arent very hard if you look over the powerpoints and study guides he gives. Some of the homework assignments were long and sometimes hard. Overall he is kind of boring but a good teacher.
horribly boring and unhelpful... doesnt even make his own tests. he gets them from a cd that come w/ his book, and its impossible. if your not gonna dedicate hours and hours on pointless HW, dont take the class
He is not a bad guy, just tends to talk to much and you lose concentration. If you don't have to take this class, dont. Its hard to make something so easy interesting. He is nice and easy to get a long with.
Boring class. DO NOT TAKE IT unless you absolutly have to. He is unclear about everything and sends you countless emails about nonsense. Jokes suck as does his class.
This class sucks, he talks for hours about nothing and anything and he gives pop quizzez. gives no help on assignments. He sends countless emails for no reason like "I will be eating at 5:30 and if there is no food in the CSU then he will be in Gage" DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM AS THE TEACHER HE HIS VERY BORING AND TALKS ABOUT NOTHING.
worst teacher i have ever had. do not take this class with Corndog as the teacher. Very boring, lectures have nothing to do with the book. read the chapters for the test and you do good, but he gives pop quizzez and long assignments. do not take this class with Corndog unless you absolutely have to.
If i get one more email from this guy i am going to take a leap off sears tower. seriously. This guy is annoying and talks about the most pointless stuff i have ever heard. Cornell = horific teacher
Are you people nuts? Cornell is the coolest professor ever! He is funny and easy to talk to. The comment that someone made about his lectures having nothing to do with the tests is comletely inaccurate! His lectures and power points come straight from the book; the book company made his power points. If you have any intelligence, you will do fine.
He repeated stories so many times. Most of the things he talked about were pointless. His class got very old. He was a nice guy but its still a horrible class.
He is a good guy, but sometimes his lectures get a little long and boring, but he'll do what ever he can to help you.

Lee is a really weird guy but I think he is fairly nice about grading. He curves the whole class at the end so if you get like 86 percent that will be an A, 75 percent a B, just an awkward scale but hey ITS EASY! His lectures were quite interesting at 8am, we just laughed at him because he is funny to listen to and look at, ask him for review ?s
What a lazy guy. His lectures are just a waste of time. If you need to learn coms to prepare for another class like MGMT 200, avoid this guy. He WILL NOT prepare you for the next level of computers. I know, I went to MGMT 200 absolutely clueless.
he is a funny guy and drinks lots of coffee. his lectures are boring and i didnt learn alot from them but he gives out alot of info about the homework and quizzes in lec. didnt talk about much stuff that i didnt already know and his tests suck
If you don't show up to class you are f***ed. he doesn't let you slide by not showing up to class. but if you are there pretty regularly it's an extremely easy class.
Its pretty easy class as long as you read an attend. If you go to him for help you can do really good.
He is a very fun guy to get to know. However class is boring, but you need to show up because he takes attendence and he gives out information regarding homework and online assignments. He also has quizes that you need a password in order to take it. He usually sends you to get help with the tutor.
He really sucks... his classes are very boring and his review material for tests (usually 3 chapters) is on avg. 50 pages long - way too broad. His assignments are easy but some are too time consuming and are only worth 10 pts. I wouldn't recommend him he repeats himself a lot in class too - soo boring!
Boring class, reads off powerpoints and then askes questions based on the book only for exams. It is pointless to go to class, but you need to attend. points... only reason why I went. take someone else for this course.

THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM CAUSE HE SUCKS!! talks about random stories all class to kill time cause he doesn't know****. Tests are hard and he is NOT helpfull
Mr. Cornell's sarcasm and harshness are priceless! He doesn't take**** from students and he has the easiest job in the world. I love it! The class is easy if you read the book and do the quizes.
Boring as hell. Reads off power points and takes exams out of the book, but you have to show up to class because of attendance points. Most peope just ignor him because he just burns up time talking about random stories that are not interesting or relavant whatsoever. I would recomment having a friend, a laptop, or a pillow to occupy your time.
If you buy the book and complete the assignments on time, you will do just fine. Sitting through class is boring because he just goes through powerpoints created by the writers of the book (but attendence is taken, so you NEED to go to class). Make sure to do the study guides he posts on D2L in order to prepare for tests.
I like this guy and I found in-class talks interesting.
Mr. Cornell is incredibly boring. Bring a computer or other homework to do in class because you cannot follow or even pay attention to his lectures. Do not take ISYS 101 unless you are going into an I.S. related field.
He is frustrating, not helpful, the assignments have nothing to do with what you talk about in class.
he was the subsitute for prof schilling. i didnt like the way he graded our programs. if our program compiles, then he grades it. if our program doesnt compile, he doesnt even take a look at them!!! what's up with that....
Horrible. His answers to questions were not helpful. Tests were easy. Assignments took forever and he takes off points for the smallest things. His lecture consists of reading off a powerpoint. He is a pretty worthless teacher.
cornell is hilarious! super easy class if you do the work. get help on excel & access assignments from the tutors if you need to, but most of the info you need is in the windows book you will purchase! tests are super easy- use the study guide, the test questions are basically the exact same questions! go to class for free/easy quiz points!
This guy is pretty terrible. Dull lecture, dull subjects, extremely unhelpful. His graduate assistants do all his work for him, and they grade extremely hard on assignments, most of the tutors are extremely unhelpful as well. Overall if you are thinking about taking this course with Cornell don't do it cause you will absolutely regret it!
this guy is a major idiot. i think he teaches just so he can hear himself talk. if you want help, forget it. he is an arrogant jerk. i really dont know how he has a job!
lectures have nothing to do with the tests. not really huge on skipping classes, havent really skipped any in 3 years, but i skipped a lot of his lectures because they are useless. he gives you a study guide for the tests, DO IT. the study guide is basically the test.
Really nice guy, other than that--he's awful. He doesn't care if you show up for class, so nobody hardly ever comes. His assignments are unclear and requirements change frequently. He is not helpful with questions, his tests have nothing to do with the lectures. He doesn't seem very credible. He doesn't know what he's doing. He majored in english..
Worse professor ever! does not teach anything...again does not teach anything try to avoid him if cant then u are doomed.
First of all, the lecture portion of this class exists because the older generations are still marveling at the advances in technology. Students sit on their laptops playing games, surfing the web, or chatting on facebook while Cornell lectures about the latest thing he was able to purchase off the internet. The computer assignments aren't too bad.
Lecture is very boring, most students in class stop coming to it half way through the semester. Study guides he gives out dont come with answers. Can seem snappy at students via email but is very nice in person. Online assignments are doable but they can be picky on the way they are graded.
Pretty easy class. The lectures are completely useless. He gives out study guides that have about 80% of the test questions. Not much extra credit, so do the assignments.
The lectures were boring, but they arent too bad. Just do the study guides and you dont even really need to pay attention or go (sometimes will randomly take attendence. He is really nice and really helpful, makes everything very clear and tells us things more than once to make sure everyone knows (deadlines, etc) Online assignments werent too hard
I won't talk here about his personal qualities, but as a teacher he is not useful at all. a) Powerpoints are from the book b) Test questions are 99% from the study guides (250 questions) c) Easy online assignments. d) Not always taking attendance. e) Better to buy book and forget about his classes. Overall a "D" grade to him.
I liked him. He gave out study guides WAY ahead of time and all the test questions came from them. He's fair and says right away there's no extra credit. If you do the study guides it's really hard to not do well on tests. The homework is easy, and since everything is from the book you don't have to worry about missing something.
He tends to ramble a lot in class, lectures are irrelevant to anything associated with homework. Basically, you can get an A without attending class, if you do your IT labs and memorize study guides
Aside from the occasional dry humorous comment, Professor Cornell has virtually no redeeming qualities. Helpful he is not; lecture is amazingly boring. Study guides are huge with up to 250 questions to memorize per exam. IT Lab assignments aren't too bad, yet the computer grading system can be impossible to please at times. Lecture is useless.
His class is very boring. Lecture really has nothing to do with the tests or homework. Tests are 50 random questions from a review packet of 200 so be good at memorizing. Homework IT labs are super easy to get 100 on all of them. Not a very good teacher.
I think he is a really good teacher. He is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. His tests are really easy if you do the study guide. Each question is directly from the study guide and from the book. He has a good sense of humor. His classes are a little boring but you can get stuff done. Highly recommend. ITlabs and quizzes are easy too!
There is no point in going to class, he just goes through the powerpoints that are available online and rambles the entire time. Stay home and study the loong review, that's all you need to know for the test. If you do go to class, bring your laptop and joint the rest of your classmates on facebook.
GREAT teacher!
If you want to find a boring class this is a class for you. He lectures about nothing about the class. And if your going to major in business your stuck with this horrible teacher. Your are forced to go to this class because he has groups so u may lose points if you dont show up. But other then that the class is not worth it.
Not a good teacher. Quiz once a week on the chapters. come to class and he doesn't even talk about it. Terrible class. He makes us go into groups so you can't skip. I feel bad for all mankato business majors
Contrary to what others are saying, Cornell is an amazing professor. He likes to start class off (especially in mornings) with some music and often walks around and talks to kids before class. He's willing to spend lots of time helping people out with questions, but you have to ask! He's fun to talk with and I wish he taught upper classes.
just read through the chapter before you take the quiz, go to the tutors for the sam assingments
good teacher! He likes to play music at the beginning of class and walk around and chat it up with students. Make sure you take the quizzes and study those for the exams, that's pretty much whats on the exam-but also read the book. pretty easy class, but make sure you come to class because every point counts in the end.
Can either be a challenge or easy. It's about your effort level, and technique. You WILL need a planner. Many due dates U do NOT want 2 miss. Check MAV email prior to the class;pre class SAM assignments. U get 2 tries 4 Quizzes, have every1 in ur group take once and compare answers B4 U all take 2nd. Go to class, attend. taken every time. GOOD LUCK
Talks a lot about himself. Quizzes and Exams are easy, if you have a group of committed friends. All Exams are from prior D2l quizzes (hint! copy them down). Schedule: attend class, group quiz, lecture, group assignment, leave (Bring something to do during lecture). You'll be working with WORD, EXCEL, and ACCESS: Prior knowledge would be helpful.
Class is easy, you must attend class everytime, exams are questions from previous quizzes, I'd suggest copying them into microsoft word and memorizing the questions. Class is pretty easy, although in class assignments are not explained in detail very well
Poor teacher, very limited guidance on what to do, a large portion o the class time students are trying to track him down to figure out what he wants us to accomplish. We are in college to learn and he does not teach us. He expects us to just "figure things out".
The class is almost useless. I can say that I learned very little during it. The class consists of a lot of busy work and pointless explanations. The homework was a little hard but the tests are easy because the questions are the exact same ones from the homework.
Overall, I though this class was pretty useless. I only had to take it because it is required for my major, but I don't even know why it is. He lectures on things that have nothing to do with anything and makes us do pointless time-consuming activities. It is pointless. You are put in groups and take attendance, so it is mandatory to go.
He just doesn't help with anything. Just comes up and looks at your questions and says, "huh! google it!" stupid....
He doesn't spend much time on you he basically makes it so you do all of the work by yourself!
He literally does nothing! He doesn't teach you how to do the hw or anything about the quizzes. You teach yourself. In class he either rambles about irrelevant stuff or you work on an assignment with your group. Go to class because your group members take attendance. Get the book from the bookstore. It comes with online access to the hw.
Awful professor. Does nothing. Lot of group work. A group behind us had a question on an assignment, he responds with "Google it." Unavoidable if business major. I would buy the text book, there's a code in it for SAM assignments, which are decent chunks of grades. Terrible professor, doesn't care how you do. Should be an online class.
Sucked. Was not very helpful. just gave us all the test questions he will pull his tests from for a study guide. Only the study guide was helpful when taking the class.
Increadibly easy class if you go to all of them. Best to do the quizes in groups becuase the book doesn't help at all. google will be your best friend because some times he won't answer your question he will just tell you to google the answer. tends to talk about boring stuff he thinks will be useful. One of the easiest classes ever
Very understanding teacher and knowledageable teacher. If you come to class most days and actually have an interest in programming it should be easy to get a decent grade. Occasionally goes on rambles but is always willing to help. He knows if he didn't explain something properly when the class doesn't do so hot & adjust grades accordingly.
He is always willing to help if you ask questions and he is very approachable. The tests are open note and super easy. He is not always clear on his directions for the programming assignments but clairfies them if asked.
Make sure you are there know what he wants and ask to many to questions because you can loose points for stuff you had no idea was needed. Tests suck read the book. programs extra credit is a joke. He will not teach you get ready to teach yourself. nice guy though
Wow. Glad that's over. This is the first prerequisite for the IT program, and it should not be this intense. Lectures: what lectures? He won't teach you in class, you're on your own. Ended up getting a B, but wow.
He does not lecture at all. He puts you into groups and makes you learn by yourself. I've never seen him code at all and if he has it's been on the board and nothing that would work on a computer. He takes attendance but it's not mandatory. He's easy to talk to but not the best teacher. Be prepared to find a good friend or tutor.
Every class period you spend doing group work & taking quizzes so going to class is a must! I took this class twice the first time I withdrew due to me taking it at 8am & not making it to class most days (bad idea). The second time it was easy! The book & your SAM assignments tell you how to do everything. Compile quiz answers to study for tests!
Lee is a very nice man and this is his last year teaching. He tends to get sidetracked very easily and will ramble for extensive amounts of time. The class I took with him is based entirely on group projects and he expects you to do your part. It was a writing intensive so it had a fair amount of decent length papers, but that's to be expected.
Be ready to teach yourself
He is not going to hold your hand all the way through this class. He expects that you have most of the basic programming skills from IT 210. If you are stuck or if you need a hand, he will happily help you out. Just ask the question and you'll get the answer. He's strict about assignments being done on time, but pretty easy-going otherwise.
I hope you're ready to teach yourself Python, because that's what you will be doing in this class. While Cornell is a nice person, as a teacher he leaves a lot to be desired. Don't expect to know what you're doing when he assigns programs and quizes, he won't actually lecture on the required material until a week after the program is due.
avoid him in all costs
I found programming to be difficult, but Cornell was always willing to help during office hours. Grade consisted of 3 exams (45%, programs (30%), chapter quizzes (10%), and participation (15%). Makes you work for a good grade and will not help those who skip.
