Dr. D seems intimidating at first but then you realize he is very easygoing. He is always interested in what you have to say. He wears the same blue denim shirt every class! :) He's a great, inspirational teacher.

I know I'm not alone when it comes to my opinion of Dr. Dorbad. He is a great professor, and although I have only taken him for speech class, I have recommended him to people I know that need to take their ENC1101/2 classes, and to those needing speech:)

I took Dr. Dorbad for two semesters. He was great! He was very clear about assignments. He was always ontime for class and always in a good mood. His syllabus was very clear about what he wanted from students and he followed the syllabus.

He's pretty interesting and will get the class into many philosophical discussions. I don't really mind these discussions, though. He makes me think about my life and my surroundings more than any other teacher. He knows what he's doing. But he does tend to say "Quite honestly" a LOT.

Mr. Dorbad is a very good teacher, he makes the class laugh but never loses control of it, he explains every paper we have to do and tells us exactly what he is looking for. Talk about discrepancy and unreality!!! 7/15/05 sounds like the student felt incredible distance between prof. and student. Perhaps the student should have made more of an effort in getting to know a professor who is exceptionally personable and caring. This is the comment of someone who is alienated and doin dirt on the word "chummy."

Dr. Dorbad is a wonderful asset to DBCC. Before I took this class I hated english in general, now that I have been exposed to Dr. Dorbad's teaching of the subject I can safely say that I have a new outlook on english. Dr. D is a wonderful professor, if one could even call him that. He teaches like no other, and truly inspires his students in a way that's very rare. I enjoyed him thoroughly in 1101 and plan to take him for 1102 in the fall.

He is a GREAT TEACHER!!!! i hate English but he made me want to come to class and read the text!!!! I Strongly Recommend taking him!!!! His essays are a bit challenging but they make you think!! Dr. dorbad is a wonderful teacher, just do the work and you'll pass. The journals are the easiest and the work is very easy. Quite a few easy essays, but a piece of cake. Plus we engage in great class conversations.

Dr D was great! Took him in Spring 07 and wish I still had him. He really opens your mind. I think I was "creatively repressed" before this class. He makes poetry interesting and helps you understand it. He also respects students and is always there if you need help with anything. A+ all around!

Dr. D is the bomb. I hated English in HS after ENG 1101 I can know say I love it. He has a very weird style of teaching but it works for him. Love his dramatics used in class. He works with anyone who is willing to learn. He puts goof offs in their place and keeps them there. A must take instructor.

It's refreshing to have a teacher treat me like an equal, and that accepts everyone's views in opinions. He's a funny, intelligent man. Unlike most teachers he's a man I'd like to sit down and have coffe with. His way of teaching is not a stressful one, it allows you to enjoy learning. Dr. Dorbad has probably been my favorite professor thus far. I've taken both english 1 and english 2 from him. His class is stimulating and he encourages his students to think outside the margins. The homework load is light to none and there are only about 4 or 5 essays assigned throughout the semester.

One of the best classes I've taken at Daytona State College. I really was not looking forward to reading poetry and writing essays on them. But, he picked easy ones and put them in ways that you could understand. Also, the in class discussions can get very funny. Just make sure you do the essays.

Dr. D is the best! His class is overall very easy. Only like 6 essays to write all semester with no other homework. He class is always a big discussion and not book work. He is very knowledgable. Always gets to know you as a person, and not just someone sitting in his clas! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

He is one of my most favorite professors. You only need to get the patterns book. He gives you plenty of time in between essays. You only write 6 for the whole class. Two are actually in class and that includes the one that counts as a final. He is great I really recommend him!

Very funny guy! Nodded off a couple times during class, but there were some interesting days! Only did a couple essays and watched a lot of videos - easy grader. He's really laid-back and cracks a lot of jokes. Tends to go on tangents, but they're always hilarious! I definitely recommend him!

I had Dr. D for ENC 1101 and took him for 1102 because he is such a great teacher! The class is really great and he gives you plenty of time in between essays. He also does all the reading in class which nice because you don't have a lot of assignments outside class. His class load is very light.

"Don't be a surface dweller" is Dr. D's philosophy, and that's why I've taken him twice. He's a professor who disturbs the surface and isn't afraid to probe much deeper. Besides, he has the sexiest voice on campus and its effect can be haunting.

He has a great ability to promote freedom of thought and not make you feel inadequate regardless of the thought. He just wants you to think and express your observations deeper than surface level. I am afraid I will not get another teacher that will help me explore thought as well as he did.

AMAZING teacher. He really does try and promote deeper thought and intellectualism. You definitely want to keep up with your 13 page journal, I ended up having to write more than half of it the day it was due because I never updated it. The guy is good because he understands how dark serious art really is--other teachers just quiz on stuff like who did what in Act II. Not him.The good doctor rocks your world--he lets the art speak for itself.

He's definitely different since he deals with the inside man and woman, not the outside. He's working on a deeper level than other teachers. He loves "intellectual tension,"and enjoys saying why write or paint if everything is alright?" But most important of all, he knows that modern art is dangerous,even subversive. He's a gem !!

I've taken this man twice and still feel amazed at the inside changes I feel as a direct result of his intellectual influence-no other teacher has ever had the same effect. I learned how reality mixes with illusion and how darkness has its own unique beauty.

Taking Dr. D has made me realize what I've been missing in my earlier English classes: he's the first teacher I've ever had who believes students are capable of deep thoughts. Dr.Dorbad is a great teacher if you come to class and do your work you'll get an A. Though I wouldn't recommend this class in the morning cause he talks a lot about the works we read and can get a bit boring. But if you have an interesting class like me you'll have great conversations. Oh you have two oral reports too but they really are easy.

I only had him for 6 weeks, but it was fun. We wrote four essays, and there's a 13-page journal. But he' pretty lenient on the journal, just make sure it's 13 pages or more. He laughs like a mad scientist, and shows a bunch of movies. Some of his comments are a little chauvenistic, but he does that on purpose, to make you argue.

Best professor I have had in a while. Turn in all your work, regardless if you think it is good work or not and you. Doing that you will make a good grade easily in the class

I took Dr. D for ENC1101 and Again for 1102! He is seriously THE BEST! Funny and definitely keeps things interesting. Turn in your essays when they are due and you will get an A no problem! He is the GREATEST professor I have ever had.

Dr. Dorbad was a fun teacher, and the classwork was minimal. We mostly just had discussions and read from a packet he gave us, we only used the actual book a handful of times. His essays can be challenging but he's a fair grader. 5 essays, a 15 pg journal, and 2 oral presentations. after that, you just watch Hitchcock movies.

This was my second time taking English1102. I'm SO glad i took it with Dr. Dorbad this time! His class was very easy compared to my other one and his assignments were clear. One time i missed class when a large assignment was due but he let me email it to him and i got an A on it. He likes class discussion more than anything. I highly reccomend him

He is an excellent professor, and I took him again in ENC1102. His class is very lax however there are several papers that I do not recommend leaving til the last minute. As long as you have an opinion and are willing to have a respectable conversation then the class is fantastic.

Dr. Dorbad is honestly a 1 of a kind teacher. He really leads the class into countless discussions on topics - we as people - have all pondered about before. He's kept me so fascinated w/his English class that i absolutely do not dare to disappoint him on his assignments. Be prepared to write essays in his class tho, the essays r fun & interesting

Dr. D. is the best. I had him for LIT2000 and it was so easy. There was only 4 assignments for the whole class and we did all the reading in class. He is very funny and a little odd. He thinks highly of himself but he's awesome. He always opens his class with jokes or pickup lines. He's a great teacher and answers any questions you might have.

Dr. Dorbad was HILARIOUS! His lectures had me snickering to myself the whole time. He opens his class with pickup lines and jokes. May seem intimidating at first, but trust me HE IS NOT! No homework assigned ever except there is a 15 page journal, 6-7 page critical essay, and two speeches you give based off of the poems/plays you will read.

I've taken Dr. Dorbad 3 times and he is one of the best professors I've ever had. He purposefully makes the syllabus lecture to be intimidating but once you get into the class he's relaxed. In ENC 1101, we do 3 papers and 2 Orals; ENC 1102, same - Essay 3 is 5 pg; LIT 2000, 2 Orals and 6pg essay. For all of his classes you do a 15 pg journal.

Dorbad is a great Professor in my opinion. Not many assignments and grading criteria is easy.

Enjoyed how the professor starts with jokes. The class keeps you busy but nothing is overbearing unless you leave the 15 page journal essay to last minute. Attendance and participation is key to receiving a "Cadillac" grade. Loved the synergy of everyone in the class. Would take again 10/10

I took him for ENC1101& 2, best professor so far in the English department trust me. Put in the work and youll pass with an A.
