To much solilique
She never finish the material on time!!!!
VERY VERY good prof...good notes...easy to follow pretty easy midterms and final
very unorganized and she tricks you on her tests
No Comments
not interested, not interesting. knows her stuff well but more enthusiasm would be appreciated.
Cares about students. Awesome person. Awesome teacher. I wish she'd take over D'Auria's courses.
VERY IMPATIENT!!!
Gets real pissed at the class when we get up to leave at the end of lecture when she hasn't finished rambling on about whatever she's covering.
YES! SHE IS VERY IMPATIENT!!! So cocky when she's answering your questions. Her notes are quite useful and tidy, but somewhat not too organized. :)
She's SO BORING!!! It's not a wonder why she wants to keep the lights on to full blast.. She doesn't care about how hard it is to see the screen w/ that light on....
tought midterms and finals...she wants her students to know each and every single concept in the world for chem. midterms and exams are way too tricky. She gets pissed if you don't do stuff properly in the lab. EXAMS AND MIDTERMS ARE HARD HARD HARD.
teach slow, but good for those that don't read the text. exams are fair as long you do the homework yourself.
Class is not as hard as some make it seem. First midterm was entirely based on review from grades 11 and 12. Could have done better on 2nd midterm, but if you know the vocab, it was easy. Final was pretty simple. Only problem was the pace; a bit slow.
Awesome teacher...explains things well....totally understood what she was saying. Kinda got boring near the end though....Midterms and final was EASY!
Very clear on the topics. kinda scary to approach for help but she is Uber E-A-S-Y!!!
Always willing to help out in the labs. But because of her slow lectures at the beginning of the semester she had to go lightspeed at the very end, making the last few chapters pretty unclear. I still thought she was a pretty good prof.
She's a mean and bitter person. She likes to blame anything other than herself for whatever goes wrong (eg. it's the projector thats not working, and not that I'm too ignorant to work it myself). I'm not writing out of spite, I got a B+.
wtf r u ppl talking about she is awsome she was clear and she knew wut she was teaching her notes her awsome all screw the text book all i did was study off her notes and i did fine.... she was patient in the labs one of the best proff i had
she is too boring....her notes are too brief(like reading textbook than her notes). Her midterms are too long and tough
She is so mean. But then, she is pretty dedicated. So I dont no. I think though deep-down she is a nice person:).
midterms were somewhat long, but wasnt that hard. Seems like reading her notes and finishing the lon-capa assignments is enough to do well in the course.
Her notes are helpful, exams are not that hard. However,ENJOY THE SLEEP IN HER CLASS
her lectures are boring, but the notes are good. midterms were fair. the final was pretty fair too except for a few hard questions. she was so slow in the beginning and began speeding up at the end for the harder chapters..overall, she's a pretty good prof!
Despite being tremendously boring, she wasn't a bad professor. Midterms were easy but the final was kinda brutal. But the course is scaled and you'll probably end up with a good mark. Take CHEM 121 with her!
She knows what she's teaching and her notes help. Only downside is that her multiple choices are kind of hard.
Very clear and her lectures were understandable. Notes posted on web, so you could at least follow along easily.
She is not that 'FUN' as students want. But, she is such a GOOD prof. She knows what she teaches, and her lecture notes are really helpful and understandable. Her exams are fine. For exams, you better study her lecture notes, and solve problems in the textbook. Then, you have no difficulty on the test.
very clear about her expectations concerning examinatable material, and a fairly generous marker
-Good Lectures, Fair marker, really helpful and not that hard midterms/final. So, overall GREAT prof.
Treated us like cattle, but the work wasn't too hard.
I liked the labs, they were fun and not too difficult. She was friendly and helpful via emails, but I've never talked to her.
Easy midterm but not enough time. Can be rude and curt during lecture. Wouldn't want her again for a Prof.
she was so great, really would go the distance to explain things in lab as well as outside of lab... way better than Kreis. WAY
Her tests are so tricky. And she talks and skips the slides too fast. I keep missing all those pages that we have to copy down, even though my writing is a bit slow. Still, wouldn't want her as prof again
She's very helpful. Although she may seem a little bit cold at first, but go and ask your questions, and she will gladly explain them to you. Sometimes the explanations are too long, but she knows her stuff. Overall good prof I'd say. A bit boring in class, but tolerable. Notes are great, Midterms were a bit tricky.

she's ok. her tests were a bit tricky..esp the first midterm but after that it gets better. u could say that her tests are fair
She's nice enough, fair, well organized, midterms are tricky. I think i did better guessing on the multiple choice than i would have done if I attempted the questions myself. Final wasn't as bad though.
pretty nice, good lectures
Had her for this lab in Fall '04. Quizzes pretty tough, but the final exam was quite easy. Major complaint is that the marking is unclear and it's too easy to lose marks in your lab reports. Other complaint - unlike Kreis, if you really NEED an answer and you just can't get it, she won't tell you, she'll keep talking around it.
She is okay, not too hard, but not easy either.I find that sometimes she presents the lecture information in a very unclarified way.I just have no idea what she is talking about. In my opinion, my TA teaches way better than her.
midterms were too long. lectures were not very helpful. had to rely on TA's to explain everything from scratch.
Her lectures notes are clear and straight forward. Also her lectures are very very very easy (they are a joke), but the exams are tough, tricky and hard to finish. If I wanted an A or A+, then I wouldn't be in her class.
Not a good prof. Never answer your questions directly. The lecture is miserable. Final is hard and tricky. Wanna learn sth? Don't take her course!!
have her for chem121 lab, so mean, i didnt get how to do one part in an experiment and she was like "you shoulda read your lab manual!" you shouldnt say that to a student lady!
Not really helpful when you want to get a direct answer. She can easily spend up to 10 minutes going around in circles forcing you to assume what she's thinking and leaving you completely confused than before.
I thought she was a good prof, her lectures were clear and helped for the lab reports. Im not the student who goes asking for help after class, so i don't know how helpful she is but based on the lab time she was a great prof. Quizzes were a joke, the final was hard but fair. If you spent time doing the lab reports this was an easy at least B+
Had her as a lab instructor. She is organized and will help you out if you are having problems. Be sure to read your lab manual BEFORE going to the lab, it will get you out of there early.
great prof! midterm was fair and short and finishable! it covered everything she's taught...no tricks! she is also crystal clear during lectures!
O-M-G. Avoid all cost. Class avg for midterm = 50%. More like just barely because it was rounded. Do not take unless you have to. Lowered my GPA a lot.
Very helpful, good lab introductions. She expects you to already know your stuff but she is very helpful if your stuck. Overall, excellent prof!
If you want a high mark dun't take her course!!!
im still surprised i pulled off an A-. she spent too much time reviewing the content for balancing equations, stoichiometry and rushed all the new, hard subjects. if she went into more detail on the new material, the class would have been better.
Terrible prof, does not understand her own examples. if you approach her with a question she simply says "oops that's a hard one, skip it" ignores many students. AVOID THIS PROF
She was always behind in schedule. Finally ended up ding a whole chapter. Lectures were quite boring but if you were seated at the front you could get something out of it.Attendance is mandatory as does iclicker questions
A good prof who gives a lot of hints on what types of q's will be on midterms and final. Attendance was importnt for iclickr and because she was able to explain concepts well. Her exams were fair, but you have to know the concepts inside and out. Do the LONCAPA, read her slides carefully and you will do well. The chptr q's in the txt are veryuseful
She's a good prof. She gave us a lot of examples on what types of questions will be on exams. Also explains her examples very well. The multiple choice questions on the exams were a little bit tricky, but after all it is a class that you need to study for and understand the material.
Taught the lab component, obviously lab manual was required. No final/midterm, just quizzes and labs. Quizzes varied in difficulty, mostly difficult. Labs also varied in difficulty. However, she was helpful and patient. Mostly got help from my TA though. Clear and concise with her instructions.
Great professor. Light hearted and easy to approach with questions. The only problem was the material in the lab - it did not agree with lecture material and the T.A. was terrible.
Very approachable. If you don't understand something, she is so easy to go talk to and she helped me a lot this way. She gives a lot of hints of what will be on the exams.
I found her to be crystal clear with her lectures. I suggest reading the textbook before exams for more understanding but its not necessary, neither is attending tutorials. Exams were straightforward and covered what we learned in class; not hard at all if you studied! ended up with an A after 3 after of not doing chemistry.
Terrible Prof......Lack of teaching skill in the class....horrible exams and two midterm.....avoid this prof.....
Very clear in her slides and had many practice problems/examples in class. She gives ALOT of hints about what types of questions will be on the midterm/final. Has pretty easy icliker questions. Wound up with a B+ without really studying, found this class easier than I expected.
Dr. Hanlan was a very nice prof and seemed to genuinely care about her students, however her lectures were sometimes very fast pace and her explanations were often unclear. Would definitely recommend thoroughly working through lon capa assignments to get a good understanding. Tutorials were not mandatory however I found them to be helpful.
She is a horrible prof. A periodic table was given for our exams but HALF of it was blank as we were expected to memorize the whole table. None of the other chem professors implemented this USELESS rule. Her lectures are always behind schedule/super easy compared to her exams (HARD. I am not being bitter as I received a fairly decent grade.
She hints you what is on the exam if you go to class.. She's clear at explaining. All notes and examples are directly pulled from textbook. Final exam and midterms was hard and not similar to her practice exam that she posts. Make sure you do a lot of practice! Overall an alrigh professor.
She was overall fair as an instructor. She, however, really needs to work on that attitude... Her rude, cold behavior was infectious (and not in a good way) contributing to a toxic cesspool of an environment. Whenever she was coming to start the lab, the first thing I thought of was hundreds of drums leaking radioactive waste into a lake.
Her midterms are easy; however, the thermodynamics section tends to be really confusing so I recommend going to her office hours for further explanation. Although, her lectures are pretty dry and boring.
She goes through lectures super fast, and they are quite boring too. I always need a cup of coffee before her class. If you go to her office hours, make sure you already know at least a little bit about the topic as she can get rude and sarcastic if you don't know anything. Study from the text and go to tutorials, and you'll do fine.
A good prof but doesn't put much effort into teaching.
Can't really complain about this class. Lectures sometimes feel very long and drawn out but exams are very fair, no surprises. There's a super annoying snowboarder chick that yaps all class with her friend but if you do so much as cough she will attack you like an angry bear so watch out for her. Otherwise, great class with nice people.
BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER EVER. Midterms and exams were super easy (but you actually have to study)! Lee Hanlan is super organized and explains concepts in lecture very clearly. As long as you attend lecture and put in some work you should get a decent grade! She does get a little sarcastic when you ask her "stupid" questions though.
She reads off her slides most of the time and doesn't quite explain things her own way. What she teaches is whatever is in the text. Sometimes she uses similar examples from the text as well, which isn't very helpful when they are easy examples. She tends to put harder examples in her exams, so watch out. Must attend lectures to complete notes tho.
Lectures are so dry. So so dry. Honestly it's like having an audio book because all she does is read off her slides which primarily are based off the text book. Her tests are fair, and she is a pretty nice person, but so.. so.. dry..
i didn't really rely on lectures for my learning, i rarely went bc they were so dry & waste of time. She can come across as rude. You will have to do majority if not all ur learning on your own. MT and Final were tough but no surprises.
Dr. Hanlan has kind of a boring voice. Her lectures are helpful, and she does not fill in the blanks on the powerpoint slides as an incentive for you to attend lecture. Her midterm and final were pretty fair.
Her lectures are pretty dry, but she is super helpful if go to her office hours. Midterms and finals are easy if you studied.
One of the best CHEM course I ever took. She is super nice and very helpful. Her lectures make your life way easier than you think. Just need to read the textbook if you missed the lecture, otherwise her lectures are way better than textbook. Highly recommend this instructor to those who hates CHEM. You will love this instructor.
Always take notes on the in-class problems because they don't appear on the online slides, and the midterms are fairly rushed so make sure you're prepared to solve equations quickly. Other than that the labs aren't too difficult and the concepts in class are clear. The Lon Capa assignments are a good indicator of what questions are on the tests.
Had a three year break from my most recent year of Chemistry (grade 11), Lee was able to do a great job of getting me back up to speed! Can be a bit sarcastic if you don't already have a bit of an idea of what is going on, but is very kind and happy to help you out!! Lectures are great, but lots of blank slides for inclass examples!! So don't skip!
Lee was an amazing prof, although her lectures became boring her teaching style is great. she knows how to get information across and assignments are fair.
She goes through lecture slides way too quickly. Boring tone
Pretty poor prof. Her lectures are so boring if you can even hear them due to her mic not being turned on. During her lectures, she only does a calculation example every once in a while compared to the homework online that's mostly calculations. Labs were fine because the TAs were bros.
Her lectures can get a bit boring, but other than that I thought she was a great prof! She often gave real world examples for each topic and was always available outside of class. She didn't do many calculation problems in class, however, they were talked over during tutorials. Lab was pretty easy, same with final. Midterm is what wrecked my grade.
The most uninteresting prof ever. She has such a monotone voice, it could put you to sleep in the middle of lecture. There was one midterm 2/3 of the way through the semester, so there was so much info on it but the content from the beginning of the semester was already forgotten. The final was a little easier. Her labs are also stressful.
I had Lee for the lab part of the CHEM121 course. The amount of knowledge she has makes her a little intimidating and she definitely has a low tolerance for stupid questions and people who don't listen. If you ask thought out questions and show her you're interested and you care, she is really nice and approachable. She explains concepts clearly!
