His lecture is so easy, boring and obvious stuff you know from high school. But his tests are hard as crap! They are very flowerly and around-the-point. He does offer tons of extra credit and only took attendance twice.
Nice guy!!! He's very sweet and helpful. He took attendance like three times. His lectures were given on powerpoints, so basically you write A LOT of notes straight from the overhead. Here's the kicker: Hard tests! Study right from chap.!One paper due
hes funny and nice. I got a b in the class but tests are hard. final was easy bc it was questions straight from the other tests. the paper was pretty crazy..ten pages or something but it was definitly a dueable class and i would reccomend him
Nice n Easy but borin class if your doing 3 hrs. good thing let u go early. LOL. Tests are little hard but Final is straight up from the test Questions so it pays off even. YOu do gota write 10 pg paper I did it nite before n made a B but did research earlier. Discuss and Participate majore bonus
good teacher to have a disscussion with if you are a conservative but can be boring for time to time.
Professor Jones was a nice guy...the class could get boring with the notes and a lot of the time the notes went really fast. Tests were a little hard and the paper was well laid out so it was easy to do if you followed his guidelines. Final was straight from the other tests...good class overall.
Pompus
His tests are out of context and pretty impossible to do well on. The rest of the grading can't make up for them really so if you don't do well on the first, DROP the class NOW. You will not improve. It's just that his methadology is somewhat misleading to some people's expectations of the material and needs to be revised. Otherwise he is great
Before taking this course I had a 4.0 average. I'm an A student, Professor Jones gave me my first B. Let me tell you that his tests are harder than any biology test or chemistry test i've taken. His questions are worded to trick you. He sucks, don't take him, avoid him at all costs! THIS ISN'T A JOKE, STAY AWAY FROM JONES!!!!
His tests are impossible. I recieved a B in the class eventhough I studied like crazy for his tests. The tests are worded to trick you and the man for some reason thinks that he is Martin Luther King Jr. when he is far from it. The man uses a large vocabulary just to trick you and for some reason I dont believe he actually knows the meaning of them
His tests are ridiculous! They are all multiple choice but every provided answer can be justified! He uses a large vocab in class and encourages class discussions, which can be interesting. 3 tests, 1 paper, and a final. No need in taking notes.. they are useless. STUDY THE BOOK! If you can take another professor you would be better off!
I was not really interested in political science before I took this class, and now I like it even less. He is a really nice guy, but his tests are very hard and he makes you write a huge research paper. It is also almost impossible to keep up with his notes because he goes too fast
Jones’ classes are not a walk in the park and he does go a bit fast with his notes, however, if you utilize his study guides in conjunction with the book you should be fine. Don’t worry too much about the notes.
CLASS IS BORING
This class was incredibly easy, but you have to attend and participate every now and then. Compiling the portfolios is time consuming, but he grades them easy. As long as he can match your name to your face and you do the work you'll be fine.
Great TeacherMakes you think
Prof. Jones is very humorous and facetious, thus I enjoyed his class. His tests are pretty difficult: meaning its good to study. He requires a major research project, but grades it pretty leniently. He also offers extra credit: its a lot of work, but makes it easier to get an A if your test scores aren't cutting it.
All arround great guy. his lectures are pretty dry, but he will make a joke every now and then to lighten the mood. don't let his joviality fool you, this man is all business when it comes to tests, so use the study guide. his final is compiled of the exact questions used on the previous two tests so use those to study and you will do fine
Very good teacher, classes get boring sometimes, but he makes them really interesting.
I thought Mr. Jones was a great teacher, his lectures get the best of you sometimes but if you read before going over that content in class you will be able to keep up and understand so much better. His tests are somewhat hard but as long as you read and study you should make a pretty good grade. I would recomend him!
Jones is one of the most interesting teachers I had all semester, and I absolutely loved it! I talked, listened, participated, wrote my paper, got an A. I am not a good test taker, so the extra credit, paper and participation made it for me.
I hate politics and have no interest in the american govt, but he made it super fun. He is hilarious and I enjoyed his class. He is fair in his grading and gives extra credit. I would love to take another one of his classes!
He's a nice guy but I really did not like the class. His lectures are long and boring. He uses a wide vocabulary which tends to be confusing. I was interested in the class before taking it but afterwards I wasn't at all. The tests are difficult and the material usually has nothing to do with the notes taken in class.
Anything you read about this guy thats negative is out of line bc prof jones is really funny and knowledgeable and its not more clear when he uses words like venacular and when he is able to bridge gaps in discuessions of race between the extremely conservative and the liberal If you think he is hard go back to pre-k. He teaches the class perfectly
He's alright.. 3 tests that are ungodly hard, a 15 page paper, and a final. His notes have hardly anything to do with the test. Study guides are very vague. Basically you've got to read the chapters and take you're own notes.
this is one tough teacher. A great lecturer that knows his stuff, unfortunately in his large class size environment, it is often difficult to focus and definitely can be boring at times
Reading the textbook is absolutely imperative in this class. THE TESTS ARE NOT HARD unless you fail to open the textbook. Prof Jones is very charismatic and lenient, but take his tests and the final paper seriously. Lecture is supplemental. Focus is really on the book so class attendance is not absolutely necessary to do well. Recommend this class!
Was a little disappointed, at first he seemed really liberal and wanted to trash talk radio and Foxnews an yet held The New York Times as truth. But let me tell you the guy knows what he's talking about and I learned a lot. Turned out to be a great class and would recommend it to my friends. Good job Prof. Jones!
Wow... all I can say is I worked my bum off that semester! The tests are hard if you don't study but it you do, it definitely pays off. He gave extra credit at the end of the semester and that definitely was the reason I got the A in that class. He's a nice professor, but that class was incredibly confusing many a-time.
Prof. is smart and knows his stuff! He makes lectures entertaining, but it's not absolutely necessary to go. Tests are 90% based off the book!! YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!! He does give a chance for extra credit at the end and it is a HUGE opportunity! Overall, an enjoyable class.
He's a really good teacher. You MUST read the book, I learned my lesson from the first test. The Final and the Extra Credit is what helped my grade the most. Attendance isn't mandatory, although he took it near the end. Coming to class helps for clarity, but reading the book is imperative to pass.
Amazing teacher! The first day of class I left thinking I would hate this class, but within a few weeks, I actually started to enjoy it. He is very knowledgeable, his classes are funny, and he inspires students to think. The only thing I can say I didn't like is his repetitive use of "literally" and "however." lol.
TAKE THIS CLASS! It is an easy, easy A. Jones is insightful, knowledgeable, and really passionate. The class is fun if you get involved. He hands out study guides & notes- study those to get an A.
Professor Jones is the absolute BEST!!
This is absolutely the best professor! He gives clear notes and study guides. I made an 82, 68, and 88 on the only three test in the class, and at the end he gave extra credit for 5 points on the FINAL grade! thats half a letter grade..I made an A in the class!!! Great Professor!
He is very knowledgeable about politics. He wants to know your opinion during class. Prof. Jones answers emails quickly and enjoys talking to students. You MUST read the text book for this class, otherwise you will get behind. He gives extra credit opportunities and is overall a great teacher.
Extremely difficult, had to drop. Doesn't put material covered in class on test; ridiculously hard i wouldn't advise taking his class
i'm not a government person at all, but i absolutely love this class. his notes are detailed but very clear, however you MUST read the textbook to do well on the tests. he's very passionate about what he teaches and engages his students. very eager to help and encourages discussion in class, definitely one of the best professors at KSU.
it's a pretty easy class already, but he is a good teacher. he's interesting to listen to even tho the material is boring. the tests are tough but straight from the book and notes. no attendance, but if you come to class and get notes and read the book you'll do good. i'd recommend him to anyone.
Easy to understand, difficult tests. It is a straight lecture class and attendance is not mandatory. He gives reviews online for each test but none of the stuff on the review is ever on the test. I got a 64 and 50 on the first two tests and then dropped the class. I do not recommend taking unless you love to study and read.
First test I studied his notes and got a low B. Then I studied the textbook and got A's. Very interesting and relevant. Tests are hard. You have to attend class, study the textbook.
The greatest professor ever! I loved his class. Great examples made it interesting and easy to understand. You must read the book and study guides in order to do well in tests.
Pretty easy! I got Bs on two tests and an A on the last test and Final. Only took attendance about five times. got an A in the class. KNOW YOUR DEFINITIONS AND READ THE BOOK! Its also good to pay attention to what he reads straight out of the book in class
Loved him. Very witty and a really nice guy. Gave study guides before the tests so if you know that material, you will do fine.
Great guy and very sarcastic. Uses powerpoints and does NOT post them on GAVista. Make sure you READ THE BOOK and know your DEFINITIONS. If you hate reading, I wouldn't recommend him. Does 5 points extra credit added onto your letter grade towards end of semester. Study guides are also given before tests.
Awesome class! I loved it! Lots of reading and you have to do work, you definitely have to spend alot of time outside of class to prepare and I wouldn't call the tests easy. He is an interesting character. If you read the chapter before you go to class you understand what he is saying more. Take him if you like a challenge, and want learn.
prior to this class, I had little interest in political science. However, Dr. Jones this guy is HILARIOUS!!! He makes the subject fun and interesting. But you MUST study like mad to pass a test. Attendance isn't mandatory but you won't pass the test if you don't go. There are 3 tests and one final, and he does offer extra credit assignments.
professor Jones is funny and engaging. He has made Poli sci fun. he gives 3 test, 1 final, a paper and extra credit work. and if your out or miss a test he'll let you make it up.my advice is to read book and participate in class alot. You should be fine.
YOU WILL USE THE BOOK. BUY IT. The tests are literally out of the book and definitions. If you do NOT read or study, you will be SCREWED. The first test WILL kick everyones 'butt'. He speaks with a low almost monotone voice, but does inject a flare into it. He cares very much about the topics he speaks on and is a very good teacher overall.
GREAT PROFESSOR! 15% of grade is class participation, 3 50 question exams worth 20%, and 100 question final worth 25%. All are multiple choice. And he gives a study guide before each exam! Extra credit worth 5 pts on final grade. You will NEED to take notes & study the week b4 the exam. Very funny, laid back, easy going. A must take professor!
Good professor. His tests are multiple choice, but they are hard. You need to study and understand the material. You have to write a paper at the end. I found the final to be a bit easier than the previous exams. Makes class interesting and is willing to help you if you need it. I would recomment him.
Great Professor. Easy if u take notes and read the chapters. All of his test are multiples choice and his final is multiple choice. Has a great personality and likes individuals to speak opinions in his class so don't be afraid to speak up.
Great professor!!! Take him if you can!!! 3 multiple choice exams + the final (also multiple choice). He is an excellent speaker and really works to keep the students interested. Stop by his office and he WILL help you out...best professor I've taken at KSU so far.
Great teacher. Not very easy, but fair. Go to class, study your notes and you'll do fine. If you're confused just stop by his office for a good chat. Graded on 4 tests only, no projects or papers.
Boring teaching style, just reads out of the book and powerpoints.Very hard tests, wants you to memorize constitution section numbers, article numbers and other useless things that in the real world you would be able to look up and reference.I understand having to know the constitution, but this is a whole other useless level.plan to work for grad
A great teacher. Always keeps things interesting, likes to get the class involved in topical debate. Only four exams, no projects or papers. His exams can be difficult but if you just pay attention and take good notes you'll do fine.
I thought Professor Jones was an amaznig teacher. He helped me alot and worked with me and i recieved an 'A'. Read the book and do the study guide, everything on the study guide will be on the test. 3 exams then the final i made a 72, 82, 94, 80, and did the extra credit. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT and ask him for help, he is very helpful and funny.
Confusing lecture style, I was always unsure how he was going to put stuff on the test. Overall easy class if you work for it. Gives extra credit at the end of the semester which will bump you a half a letter grade on your total grade.
His test are not clear. He gives study guides and extra credit. Good class but you have to work for it.
I enjoyed this class! Never been one to actually be interested in politics of any sort, but he actually got me interested. he likes a responsive class. it did help to read each chapter and study his power points. Made a steady B in his class with the minimal effort. if I had made more effort bet it would have been an A
This is the best teacher for upper level polbsci.I enjoyed going to class and to hear what we would be talking about. He talked about daily problems facing us, let us voice our opinions. It was like we were all involved in a meeting focusing on problems in the cities. Its the prime example of how a college class should be. Not easy, but def worth it
I made an A, but i had to read all the chapters, go over notes and powerpoints, and go to class. You can make an A, you just have to work hard at it. The tests are hard, you just have to make sure and study. I enjoyed his class, he is funny, and likes what he teaches.
You'll need to come to class, read, and study the ppts to get an A in this class - but at the very least, the teacher is worth watching. He keeps class interesting and has a fun style of speaking/teaching. I'd encourage recording his lectures to re-listen to before tests. Test reviews are very helpful.
Not the easiest course I've ever taken. Definitely loves what he does.
This professor knows and loves what he teaches. He is always willing to help you whenever possible & great at going over things when one may have trouble understanding. He makes class interesting and gets the students involved. DO NOT expect an easy "A" you HAVE to study and keep up. The book and his notes will help you A LOT! I recommend him 100%!
easy A if you read the book and take notes. make sure you show up every class. he is funny to watch and tells you what you need to know for the 3 exams you have. I don't care to much for the subject and managed to make a 96, 94, and 96 on the exams, but I studied. he gives study guides which are helpful. Easy A if you work for it
At first I was a little behind. He talks really fast. He posts every PowerPoint online so I would suggest either printing them off or taking those notes at home. I love listening to this guy. He is funny and you can tell he's really into the subject
Professor Lee has a very dry sense of humor. He's a very nice man and will help you with anything you need. However, he only takes 4 grades the entire semester, so STUDY FOR TESTS!!!
Professor Jones is very knowledgeable. The class is rather interesting and I enjoyed it. You will definitely need to study and read to do good. He loves class participation.
Dr. Jones is a great professor; you can tell he's really interested in the subject matter, and he has a dry sense of humour. It's not a super easy class, but if you read the book, study his powerpoints (which he puts online), and take notes in class, you'll do fine. The study guides don't always have everything, so be sure to read the book, too!
He is funny, and tells you whats on the test. Come to class and pay attention. Reading the book also helps. He is very passionate and likes to challenge you. I didn't work to my full potential and left with a B.
Class is extremely boring and it's hard to focus without getting sidetracked because he rambles and he tries to be funny but he's just not. He seems nice but if you even glance around..NO ONE is actually paying attention to what he's saying. Very hard to keep up. Would def not recommend him.
There are no suprises on his test. Exactly what he lectures on. He puts up his notes on d2l. Good speaker and funny guy.
Unless you have a bazillion hours in the day to study for his ambiguously worded tests, don't take his class! Impossible to take notes b/c of fast talking, jokes, & storytelling. Likes to hear himself talk. Kind of pompous.
He is extremely helpful but his tests are nothing like the study guides and can be very confusing with the way they are worded. He does offer extra credit but it is very difficult and the only other grades are from the 4 tests throughout the semester. If you are really interested in government then he is the teacher for you .
Funny guy, but his lectures are fast paced. He has a huge vocabulary! You really need to be in class to take notes. Lots of study time was dedicated to the tests, but he is very thurough and likes class discussion. He posts his powerpoints and studyguides online to help you study. Hard tests, but you will learn alot.
Has a good sense of humor but his class in incredibly boring. SO difficult to pay attention or awake even. Tests are worded roughly and if you do not come to class you will not pass. Does not give any other grades except test grades. Would not recommend.
Dr. Jones is a funny and entertaining guy. He does like to use big vocabulary and his only grades are tests. I recommend not taking him unless you are interested in governement.
Jones uses a large vocabulary to get simple points across. He doesn't beat around the bush and keeps class fast paced and fairly interesting. Tests are easy if you study and he does provide study guides. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! It seems tedious but it bumped me from a low B to an 89 and he rounded it to an A. Worth it.
STUDY! You can't beat around the bush and expect an A out of his class. Not a lot of memorizing; more applying concepts. Read the chapters, review the powerpoints online, do the study guides and you should be fine. Being that I'm not totally interested in government, found his class a little challenging.
Professor jones is great, However his class can be boring since his lectures are from power point. Test are worded weird, but if you do the study guides, read the chapters, and go over powerpoints, you will definitely get an A.
He's a very difficult professor, I worked my tail off to receive a C in his class.
Good teacher with a sense of humor. His exams can be challenging. The class does become boring after awhile. Study powerpoints & study guides & you can pull a B out the class. Oh and consider doing the extra credit that he gives at the end of the sememster. It sounds worse than it is.
Highly recommend. You will need to attend class and read your book. Tests are challenging but if you do the above you'll be fine. Getting an A will require studying book and spending time to complete the test reviews he gives. You will not be bored in his class, he is interesting and very knowledgeable about the subject matter.
Amazing man, intelligent, wellspoken, challenging, definitely knows his subject and presents in a way that has made me want to be much more knowledgeable about our government.
Dr. Jones is fantastic. He is a lively, interesting man with endless stories. He is passionate about what he teaches and really makes the class feel relevant. I feel I came out of the semester a better informed citizen. He also will make you laugh!
Professor Jones was literally one of my most favorite professor's I have ever taken. He keeps you interested in his lectures by his witty remarks! Study for the tests with the study guides, ppts & book! If you need help there isn't a question about getting it! I recommend this teacher to anyone, he's a nice guy and very helpful.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND- Prof. Jones is a very entertaining lecturer. His love for political science creates an exciting atmosphere to his lectures. He throws in many stories and jokes related to the material that keep you interested. You must do a lot of reading, but the tests are straight forward and he gives you a study guide.
From my experience, Dr. Jones' class was very easy and very entertaining. Every test we ever took (including the final) was %100 multiple choice. Also, he sends out study guides on D2L. To get an A+, all you have to do is show up, study a little bit, and take the exams. Honestly, I never read one page in the text book and I still got a B+
Funny and seemingly nice, however, many may find his class to be a bit difficult. He goes off topic and uses big words in his lectures, and his power points are not note-taker-friendly, but if you pay close attention in class and read you book, you will pass. He grades almost entirely on tests, but offers extra credit towards the end of the course.
Wonderful lecturer! Class only involves four exams and a final. It was such a joy not to stress over worthless assignments and be able to study at my pace with the wonderful study guides and powerpoints that were posted on D2L.
He likes to joke sometimes and he has an incredible vocabulary. His lectures are pretty boring but you don't need to listen all the way because he has power points which can be vague and study guides. The book is essential to help with study guide. There are 4 exams and 1 final and he grades on attendance. You have to work to succeed which he says
Enjoy music by Bob Marley, a proponent of Rastafarian awareness, taking their music out of the socially deprived, and he used vices such as him to articulate issues of USA's political injustices, but he do not play one side or the other. He keep you guessing which side he's on for the class. Test vocabulary doesn't match book but does PowerPoint.
if you miss class you will be ok but attendance is part of the grade. He is interesting but subject matter can be boring. LISTEN if you want to make a good grade without reading you MUST do the study guide. Anything he hints in class you must remember. If youre a reader and a note taker you get an a.
Professor Jones sometimes likes to sing, dance, and use lots of metaphors. He's very funny and nice, but don't let that trick you into thinking this class is easy. He wants you to know the information very in-depth. Read your book, take notes, print out his powerpoints, and do the study guides. Even then it is still a bit hard.
This class was a little boring if American Government doesn't interest you, but Jones made it really easy. You don't even really need the book. Just do the study guide and it's an easy A. Jones reviews questions in class sometimes, so write those down! He also gave ten bonus points on one test and extra credit at the end of the semester.
Great instructor, enjoyed lectures but very tough grader and test. Even though its 200 people in class, attendants is mandatory.
He is a nice guy with a big vocabulary but is not afraid to share his extremely left-leaning views about very touchy subjects which is dangerous and unprofessional in a class of 200 where attendance is mandatory. Approaches his class as a preacher rather than a teacher and spouts unfounded, racially-fueled views that don't relate to the material.
Dr lee is a very entertaining professor to say the least. he has high energy during lecture, and tells u if something is for sure going to be on the test as he covers it. Easy A, but would not recommend this professor to someone who, shall we say, has a hard time listening to people with different racial views than you.
5 tests. No midterm, just 4 tests and a final. tests are 50 multiple choice. Fairly easy, Gives studyguides and all powerpoints are online. Just do the study guide and you should do well on the tests.
Professor Jones is an amazing lecturer and is very well spoken. He makes it clear what will be on this test, however, his tests are very difficult. I study the notes, the book, and use outside sources and I still have yet to make higher than an 82 on a test. I definitely recommend him because he is a very good teacher, but just note it isn't easy.
If you want just an overall great professor then take him. His 4 tests are pretty hard so you need to study, but if you work hard you'll get an A. He makes the lectures really fun and is really funny. Please take him!
I loved his class. His lectures were incredibly interesting, and he is really funny. The tests are not too bad if you go through the study guides and read the chapters. He tried to keep the class engaged and encourages discussions about current events. Take his class, it's the best!
He was a pretty good teacher. Class was never dull and he would encourage class discussion on various topics througout each class. Having the textbook is a must as many questions on tests come from there instead of his powerpoints. Tests were always multiple choice and on very specific points, so they were pretty easy if you study.
Wonderful teacher. Very enthusiastic about teaching. Only does lectures, using PowerPoint to backup his lectures. He teaches the basics of the political structure of the United States in a way that makes you look at it from multiple perspectives.
Take this class! Take this class! There are 4 multiple choice exams and a final that is cumulative. But don't be fooled. His questions invoke critical thinking! You will enjoy him and he will challenge you as a human being. Very intelligent, entertaining, passionate, and HOT! I could have gotten a better grade if I just studied harder.
I would NOT recommend this professor. His tests are ridiculously hard and this is coming from an A student. I made a 96 in my calculus class and 97 and 98 in both history classes. Do NOT take this professor. I am shocked at how many good reviews he has. He is very nice, but hand down the worst professor I have had.
There was a total of 4 test in this class, plus the final. There are no other assignments, just the tests. He does give extra credit. It's 10 essay questions (one page per answer) and it's worth 5 points to your overall grade. At the end of the semester I was 1.7 points away from a B in the class, and he refused to bump my grade.
Class was not hard at all as long as you pay attention in lectures. Tests are basically power points. Take good notes, read and pay attention in class. Offers extra credit that's 10 essay questions that adds 5 points to your grade. People who don't want to do basic work and show up for class will give him a bad review. Takes attendance.
He is a great lecturerr and his tests are not hard if you study his powerpoints. How can you get less than a B if you just study a little?
He gives extra credit and is a great professor. I would take him again in a hearrtbeat.
He makes jokes a lot and teaches very well. Make sure you read the book or at least look over it. He puts his powerpoints online. He has four tests and a final. Tests are 15% and final 25%, attendance is worth 15%. (so its a good idea to show up just to help your grade). Gives study guide and 50 question multiple choice tests.
Dr. Jones is probably my favorite professor this semester. He's really into what he teaches and he can be absolutely hilarious. Attendance isn't completely required, but he does take attendance and I've seen him give extra points to students who come to class (and on time.) Definitely go down and introduce yourself on the first day of class.
Hard tests. That's all I have to say about that.
Professor Jones is great. I would absolutely recommend him to any who is taking American Government. He really knows his stuff and keeps his lectures interesting!
Dr. Jones is a good teacher, he knows what he's talking about but his views are VERY clear in his lectures and whenever anyone else disagrees with him you can tell he doesn't want to listen to their side. Also, the tests are very hard. He does provide a study guide but even then anything in the book, his lectures, his power points are all game.
Good at teaching but tends to get off topic with making jokes and making the lecture harder to keep up with. Only 4 tests and one final. Test are extremely hard and sometimes do not relate to the chapters. Really need to focus and attend each and every class in order to pass. I will not take him again!!
All it is is a lecture class. 4 test and 1 final that are super hard. He does give extra credit for a 10 page paper at the end. I wouldn't take him if you can avoid it. There are no other assignments other than test
He gives a study guide for the tests, however, they can be tough so studying is essential. He does give an extra 5 points added to final grade in class by a ten page paper. I personally would not take him again since everyone is struggling from his tests, including myself.
Professor Jones is such a nice guy. The tests are tough, but not impossible. He requires you to think and apply the information on the tests. Take good notes and study and you will be just fine. He gives you study guides before every test that are extremely helpful. Exactly what a college course should be. Attendance is part of your grade.
The lectures are long, he likes to go off on tangents at times. Takes attendance every class. The only grades are 4 tests plus a final. There are always study guides and he offers extra credit at the end of the semester. 5 points on your final grade... This class is an easy grade. Defiantly would take again.
Jones was a great professor. His tests were a bit tough, but, aside from a single extra credit project, tests and attendance were the only things he graded. Attend class and take notes and you should get an easy A or B! I appreciated the spice he threw into his lectures outside of the curriculum; no one likes a dry lecture. Highly recommended!!
Professor Jones is a quality dude. His lectures were pretty interesting and he's got a sense of humor. Grade is 4 tests for 15%, final 25% and participation 15%. If you don't go to class you will not do well! Gives study guides for tests that are straightforward. Class should be an easy A if you take notes, pay attention and review study guide.
He was my least favorite professor. I could never pay attention in class because he was so boring. I would have skipped class, but he took attendance even though our class had 200 people. I barely passed the tests after studying the study guide nonstop for four hours every time
Hands down my favorite professor at KSU. Very animated & passionate about the course. It's hard NOT to pay attention because of how enthusiastic he is. Provides study guides and posts all lecture powerpoints on D2L which are a bit long so take detailed notes & pay attention. Encourages participation and will boost your grade if you show him effort.
Passionate-often goes off on rants about things that have nothing to do with what we need to know for tests. Tests are very specific and you're expected to REALLY know all the material. Reading the books gets you most of the information, but he purposely adds things not in the book to tests so that you can't skip class.
Prof. Jones will get you to think in ways you never have before (that is if you pay attention). What he has to say on current events is very thought provoking. His tests are very difficult. I would study very hard for them and end up getting a C. It's more than just memorizing terms. He actually makes you conceptualize everything.
Very difficult to pay attention in his class. Often gets off topic with his discussions and has very difficult tests. Gives extra credit at the end of the semester though
One the best professors that I've had at KSU. He makes boring material interesting. His tests are not the easiest and it's VERY important that you read the book and DO the study guides. However, I will warn you. If you are the sensitive type that gets offended easily, don't take this professor. He says it like it is but that's what makes class fun.
Lee Jones was a fantastic professor. He is able to keep lectures interesting. Extremely knowledgeable about the subject and was willing to answer any questions. 4 multiple choice tests, Final, and an extra credit. Read the book and do the study guides and this class is an easy grade. Definitely recommend.
Tests are hard but if you follow study guide they aren't that bad. Very hardcore liberal and spouts off about various liberal institutions such as black lives matter and racial rights. While those are important issues in today's world, they do not relate to the course and it is as if he only cares about his ethnic students.
Prof. Jones is a very serious but funny professor. His lectures are very clear and you will do fine as long as you study the powerpoint and read the chapters. You can only miss 4 classes before it seriously affects your grade. The class is not hard unless you don't study. I would take him again.
I mean it was the easiest A of all my classes. there are 4 test all of which he gives a study guide for and they are easy. the test were a little difficult but i mean really if you didn't complete the study guide you're not going to pass duhhh. He tends ramble on but its interesting current stuff, he really was the best prof i had all semester.
He was a great teacher, and you can tell he really enjoys what he teaches. His tests are multiple choice and easy to pass as long as you do the study guide and actually study. He truly is a great professor!
Very well spoken and makes the lectures interesting. The tests are not hard as long as you put in moderate effort into studying the material.
Really knows his stuff. Makes lectures engaging and does a great job of it. Bonus points at the end of the semester. The study guide he gives is basically the test, the study guide answers are on quizlet (hint hint). Book is not a bad read at all, gives students the opportunity to talk which always makes it interesting, especially with the election
I love Mr. Jones! He is definitely a great professor and is enthusiastic and engaging. The study guide is beneficial! and i would suggest introducing your self to him and making yourself known, because he makes for interesting conversation after or before class. Tests are not hard, you juts have to study the study guide and and the powerpoint!
Dr. Jones is an amazing speaker. His classes are very enjoyable. He has a pretty good sense a humor. But, don't get me wrong you'll have to work for your grade. He uses study guides for his tests and they are really helpful.
Very intriguing lectures ! take good notes on things he hints. Do the study guides he gives with detail and then you will pass for sure! I's take him again in a heartbeat.
It's just four tests and a final. The tests are the study guides. Study Guide answers are on quizlet and in the book. Also in his ppts he posts on d2l. Study your study guide answers for a week and then that's an easy A or B. YOU HAVE TO STUDY TO PASS. He's really down to earth and cool. Interesting lectures.
Professor Jones has a teaching style that I don't work well with. He just stands in the same place reading from a black and white power point. Don't get me wrong, it isn't too bad, but I get bored very easily. He's a funny guy, though, and offers extra credit. 4 tests and a final. study guides match tests. I would still read the chapters though.
He was a great teacher overall that was truly showed he cared. His tests are hard and they get harder as the year goes by, but the class was extremely enjoyable overall.
Prof. Jones is one of my personal favorite professors. He only gives 4 tests other than the final, but if you pay attention to the lectures you'll do fine.
He is a good teacher and lecturer. He likes to talk to you and ask you questions about the material. All the grades are from tests or attendance so there are no writing assignments.
Dr. Lee Jones was a great professor! You'll need your textbook to complete the test review sheets he creates for every test. The tests are hard, you have to pay attention in class and take notes. He does offer extra credit at the end of the semester though.
Funny guy, but the lectures got pretty boring at times. I like Government and was interested in the stuff we were learning, but the tests were really difficult. I tried hard in this class and ended up with a B.
-4 tests and a final -Extra credit offered at the end that can positively impact your grade -Has a sign-in sheet for attendance -Long lectures -Tests basically came 80% ppt and 20% book You will do fine as long as you study, very funny guy.
He is an overall great professor. I studied the night before every test and still managed to pull and A in the class. He gives extra credit at the end of the semester. He is always able to answer any questions you have.
Professor Jones was so funny and taught the class very well. He relates the lectures to things you can understand, like Kanye West. He gives out study guides but you need to study more than what is on the actual study guide. If you just study the study guide, you will get maybe a high C on the exams. Just pay attention and read the book.
This class was way too challenging for me! He is an awesome professor, but kind of moves around a lot making it hard to keep up. I am no good at history, so I made sure to study for a week prior to the exam and I still walked away with a 56. If you are willing to put more than 10-12 hours a week into this class, you should be fine. It was rough.
Good professor. Attendance is mandatory and there's sign-in sheet for each class barring test days. Very approachable if you may have any questions about the content. Tests aren't easy, but if you study the study guide/powerpoints 2-3 weeks prior to the tests (and understand the all of concepts) you'll do just fine
Professor Jones was one of my favorite professors during the Spring semester. I highly recommend taking his class. Only take 4 tests and then the final, which could be a good or bad thing depending how well you do on them. 50 multiple choice, and he provides a study guide a few weeks before the test. Really cool professor
If you are not a good test taker, DO NOT take his class. That is all your grade is made up of (4 test (50 multiple choice questions) and the final, plus attendance) He does give extra credit toward the end of the semester. He lectures from power points. Good professor, but just not for someone like me who studied 12+ hours each test to earn a B
There's a bit of a learning curve to Jones tests, so follow the lecture power points over the book because he writes the power points and they are pretty close to the actual test but the tests are still difficult and specific so study! at the end of the semester he gives a ten page extra credit paper for half a letter grade aka 5 whole points
I really enjoyed his class! He provides study guides for each test and at the end of the semester he gives an extra credit opportunity that adds 5 points to your class grade. If you study the study guide, then you will do good on the tests.
Good guy. As everyone said, the tests aren't easy, but if you complete/study the study guide and read over PowerPoint slides a week or two before the tests, you should do well. He provides an extra credit opportunity, and he will add five points to your final grade if done correctly. It made the difference between an A and a B for me!
His class is difficult if you don't like history or govt. You have to study a lot to pass but there are SO MANY quizlets that will help you study for the tests. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT (10 pages but worth it) it will CHANGE YOUR GRADE by 5 points! Talk to him and he might give you extra points. Rounded by 89 to a 90 so he does care. Funny guy also!
He is a greate prof, if you go to class and study a you can get an A on the tests. American govt has always been a good subject for me though, some people had trouble with the class. but he gave an extra credit assignment that added 5 point on your overall grade.
I normally don't like government, but he made this class really interesting. I enjoyed the fact that he incorporated current events into our discussion and allowed for the class to debate. Super funny guy which helps the class go by
Professor Lee Jones is a great guy, loved going to his class everyday. I Enjoyed his lectures, even though his exam were pretty hard, so be ready to read and study weeks in advance.
If you're good at government or are somewhat interested, you'll probably do fine. If you're not, you will struggle! Thankfully, he does have extra credit, but it's 10 pages so if you're free during finals week and can squeeze it in, then good for you. Overall very nice and can be interesting sometimes, but his tests are pretty hard. Not an easy A
Gives an extra credit at the end of the semester that is 10 pages but worth 5 total points on your course average. Very much focused on civil rights instead of just government. Creates tension in class with things he says. The tests are 50 questions each and the final is 100 and they are not easy.
Dr. Jones is a great professor. He takes attendance every class and if you miss 3 or more classes he takes points off your grade. There are 4 tests and a final. the first 4 tests are 50 questions each and the final is 100 questions. He gives an extra credit paper to lift your grade 5 points at the end of the semester. Would take him again!
Dr. Jones is a great teacher. Attendance is mandatory and he only has 4 tests the entire year. He gives an extra credit assignment at the end worth 5 points onto your final grade. He gives amazing lectures and is a nice guy. Do the study guides and read here and there and you'll be fine.
I definitely recommend taking Dr. Jones for American Government. He makes it interesting and connects the material to current events. He assigns five tests based mainly on the powerpoint slides he uses, but the vocab words in the book are good to know as well. He also assigns a 10 page extra credit paper worth half a letter grade.
He related topics to current events. He lectures based on slides, but makes it very interesting and lets you out early. Only 4 tests, attendance, and a final exam grades. Extra credit is worth it, based on multiple questions. I never read the book, I just used his study guides to write outlines from his slides. Tests are a bit hard.
He is a good guy. The work is not hard. All you have to do is the study guides. Everything is on quizlet. I literally study the night before and would get 92 on the test. If I didn't study I would get a 78 So if you don't care about poly sci and your are just taking this class for credit take his class.
Not a big fan of him myself. I never went to class because he just went on and on and on. It was so boring for me. His tests are too tough for a basic required class. All about the amendments. His extra credit assignment wasn't too bad, but I am pretty mad that I basically did a 10 page essay and it didn't bump me to an A. Lots of quizlets.
one of my favorite professors! gives extra credit that adds 5 extra points on your final grade. as long as you study quizlets and read the book, you should make an A. Lectures a lot.
Professor Lee is a wonderful teacher. His lectures are interesting and easy to keep up with. Test are somewhat difficult but if you study and keep up with the readings youll be fine. Extra credit was EASY.
My favorite professor I have ever had. Funny and interesting dude. Tests are exactly what the lectures and study guides are. 4 tests (50 multiple choice), a final (100 multiple choice), and a ten page extra credit assignment for ten bonus points.
Challenging class but I loved it. There was only 4 test, a final, and extra credit at the end. Definitely take him.
This man takes attendance in a 250 person class. Skip 3 days? Lowers your grade. His tests are stupid hard if you're taking this as a gen ed course and don't find history interesting. Lectures are boring and gets off track easily. 10 page extra credit assignment though. Would not recommend to anyone taking it as a gen ed course.
Lectures are drawn out and boring, you can rarely skip because attendance counts for your grade, tests are 50 questions and extremely difficult, final is 100 questions, but he does give an extra credit paper for a whopping 5 extra points or some nonsense. Would never recommend.
Dr. Jones was a dope professor, a really nice guy and really wanted his students to succeed. He made sure to point out information that would be on the tests. If you paid attention and did the study guides then it was a solid A. He always stayed a bit after class to address student concerns. Gives extra credit opportunity, +5 pts to total grade
dont get the book. Go to class, he gives you examples and hints of what will be on the test that are not on the study guide. study guide is like 70 percent of the test and the rest is lecture based and applications of things in the study guide. questions on test are worded differently from studying but same concept. tests are hard but doable.
Dr. Lee is wonderful!!! His lectures are super interesting. He really cares about Political Science and wants students to be able to participate in Politics and understand. He gives a 10 page extra credit assignment for 5 points on your final grade. He is a great personality and a great dude!
Such a great and passionate professor. Tests are hard, just make sure you do and understand the study guides. Great lectures.
If you're a Liberal student then his lectures won't be so bad, if you are a Conservative student, then be prepared to get criticized for your viewpoints. He is really nice other than that and his extra credit paper is 10 questions with a page long answer each and it adds 5 points to your final grade. I don't think he reads them so just do it.
Dr. Jones makes class very entertaining. 5 tests make up your grade, so if youre not a strong tester, I would advise against. I found his tests to be difficult, and I usually dont mind testsactually prefer them as opposed to projects etc. He gives a great extra credit opportunity to add 5pts to your final grade. Great prof. but not an easy A
He's a very caring and funny guy and you can tell from his lectures that he's not trying to trick you. I think if you're not willing to listen when he lectures then you won't make an A. Tests are 70% lecture 30% book give or take.
For me, it requires work to get good grades that I have to really understand the flow like if I'm politician or something. But overall, the tests are all multiple choice and the best thing about this professor is extra credit 10 pages. You can just write your opinions and just make it 10 pages, and you'll be fine.
Professor Jones is very passionate about political science. He keeps his lectures nonpartisan and objective. His tests can be hard if you don't pay attention to lecture or read the book, but they're really not that bad. And he offers a nice extra credit assignment at the end of the year for five point to your overall average.
Good guy! Tests are all multiple choice, study guides are clear and relevant to the test. Go to class ask a few questions, look at the study guides the day before you will be fine.
He's a great professor and makes you enjoy the class and the material you're learning. But his tests are very difficult so be prepared for lots of studying. I give him TWO THUMBS UP! :)
One of if not my favorite class I have taken in college so far! His classes are mandatory but they are worth going to. His lectures can be long but they are always interesting. Go by the study guide for the test and you should have no problem getting a decent grade. He teaches politics in a way to make you more interested in it. Take him!
Professor Jones very clearly enjoys his job. He's passionate when he teaches. The class is very lecture heavy and it can be very easy to zone out. Also, attendance is taken in every single class period. I feel like you really need to know how to teach yourself if lectures aren't your thing. He gives nice extra credit! 10 pages, 5 points added
Dr. Jones was a really good professor but his tests are heavily based off the bolded phrases and words on the powerpoint. The class consists of 4 tests, the final which is 100 questions and extra credit that adds 5 points onto your final grade in the class. He is very passionate about politics and the class was very fun and a little difficult.
Dr. Lee truly knows what he is talking about! He is an amazing professor of Political Science. There are 5 tests, an optional 10 page extra credit assignment, and participation/attendance. You are required to attend class and he will pass around a sign in sheet. I would recommend him to students who have a strong knowledge or want one in POLS.
Dr. Jones is super funny and caring. However, if you don't like lectures, this class might not be for you. Almost all of his classes are powerpoint presentations. Even though lectures can be boring, he makes the class interesting. The tests are kind of hard, so make sure to study a lot before going into a test.
Dr. Jones struggles to teach the class without shifting the majority of the material to support his extremely liberal views. So, if you are a conservative student, I would advise against taking his class because you will be disagreeing with almost everything he says. You will be so tired of hearing his extreme leftist views. Would not recommend.
Even if you're not taking Pols for a core class, take this prof. He may teach off ppoints but he is very open to conversations. Loves answering questions and hearing your opinion on the material. Thought provoking. Shows video related content and will make jokes but does stick to the lesson. Keeps it moving. Four tests and a final. STUDY for them.
Really cant stand his lectures, he gets way off track. His study guides are nothing like the test.
Dr. Jones is a good guy. Hes hard to get in contact with if you want to look at past tests. His tests dont really relate to his study guides so youre going to have to study a lot. Gives a 10 page extra credit opportunity for 5points on final grade. The extra credit is the only reason I got an A. If youre willing to study, take him.
Dr. Lee Jones is a wonderful professor. I failed to to do my course evaluation on time, so to make up for it I am giving him an A+ on this website. Dr. Jones engage his class in many discussion over varies topic that affects our current political climate. There are many readings and some are long, but the contents are so engaging you won't notice.
Prof Lee is so funny, and his class was a breeze. He doesn't give any homework, quizzes, anything. We only had 4 tests and then the final and he always gives you study guides to help you out. Plus he gives extra participation points if you comment on his tweets, and a 5 point extra credit opportunity and the end of the course. 10/10 recommend.
Dr. Jones is a good professor. He can get carried away with his lectures but the study guide outlines everything thats on the test so if you complete it youll have no issues. Ppts are on D2L. No quizzes, hmwk, or papers, just exams. Exams are very straightforward and lecture based. Hes pretty funny and liberal. do the study guides!!
Prof. Jones is extremely smart and kind. Tests take no time to take if you come to class everyday and take thorough notes. Downside was his lectures were long as hell and most of the things he said weren't on the test. Not easy to reach outside of class, but always willing to hang around after to answer questions and show you your grades.
I liked him he gives detailed lectures he tell stories but they still go with what the lecture is on. Tests are philosophy and quite heavy. He has extra credit at the end of the semester for 5 points on total grade which helps A LOT. He answers emails quickly and he tweets so you can get your participation from that if you dont talk in class.
Overall was a good professor. He tended to get carried away often but made sure to cover all of the material before the tests. Also has good study guides. If you are conservative you will definitely not be a fan of this professor at all though.
I was very excited to learn more about American Gov. But not with him. A lot of preaching of his political philosophy. One sided. Allowing students to hoot and holler through out the class. Very distracting. He said if he goes off topic for an hour, he will still hold us accountable to the chapter that he did not lecture/teach.
Professor Lee is a solid teacher. He can make jokes and still knows what he is talking about. I came into his class not knowing anything about politics and finished his class w/ a B. His test are worded confusingly however if you read the questions carefully, you'll do fine. BTW make sure you study the powerpoints.
Dr. Jones is a pretty great lecturer, so even though attendance is mandatory, it goes by quickly and doesn't feel like schoolwork. He definitely knows his stuff and will crack jokes throughout lectures. Only 4 tests and the final, so make sure you study hard and know your stuff too. as long as you show up, you should be fine.
Prof Jones was great. He cares about getting people involved in government and his tests are easy if you do the study guides. He does a massive extra credit assignment that's just completion. I personally loved him.
This guy is very one-sided. If you don't believe what he believes in, you might not like his class. He puts a lot on the slides and tests that aren't circling political science, but more of his own opinion so you have to answer how he would. Be prepared to talk about slavery because that ate up weeks of class. His political views sway the material!
Professor Lee lectures every single day for the entire class. His lectures are very boring, but he is funny. Do the extra credit at the end of the semester. I was going to get a C and did the extra credit to get a B. The tests are hard and can have confusing questions.
Professor Jones is a solid choice. No homework; just do the study guide. Study the study guide and study ALL of his slides. He lectures from the beginning to very end. Pay attention to the details of what he says during lectures. Tests can be difficult but attendance and the extra credit 10 pg paper is what helped me get a B. Take him, he's funny!
Overall a great professor. 4 test and a final. He gives 1 opportunity for extra credit but you will have to put in some work. Dr. Jones will keep you updated on concurrent events, which is nice.
Jones lectures everyday, and the power points he puts up are mostly to guide the lectures. He specifically states "for your notes" or "for the test" and it will be in your best interest to write the words that follow next! study guides are really helpful and prepare you well for the test. Great professor
I was really skeptical about this Professor Jones at first but I actually really enjoyed his class. It is very lecture heavy with power points. You get some 'extra points' for actually participating and having class discussion. Test are hard and you actually have to study, use the study and go in depth! Extra credit at the end of the semester!
I love this professor. He is easy to talk to and always open to questions. He has a very animated voice that keeps my attention during lectures. I definitely recommend him!
Lee Jones is a great professor that inspires discussion about relevant topics. If you're signing up for POLS 1101, give him a chance. I still remember his discussions and teachings a year later.
He was a very fun and outgoing professor. Powerpoints did not have all the material needed on quizzes but most of it is common sense. Quizzes were assigned every week along with discussion posts but they were not very hard. Some questions on the quizzes seemed opinionated but other than that it was all good! No tests were given other than the final
You can really tell he loves what he does. He is really funny so lectures are not boring. Had two lectures a week. Had to read the PowerPoint and the chapter in the textbook which he gives you the pdf so you do not have to pay (Never read a word in that textbook and still had an A). Had a quiz due each week ?'s worded weird and discussion post.
He is very opinionated, so if you don't like his style you won't like his class. In online class, we had a quiz every week & went over 1 unit a week. His wording on some quizzes were confusing. Discussion posts were fairly easy to do. He was engaging, but it is a lot of information.
He is a super cool guy and understanding. I loved his lectures, they were hilarious and informative. You can tell he is passionate about his job. We had a quiz each week based on his powerpoints. Lectures were helpful for the quizzes. Overall, one of my favorite profs so far! I recommend his class.
Dr. Jones was a great political science prof. He always involved current political news into in-class discussions. His lectures are long but quite funny and engaging. Not much homework, other than a few discussion posts. He is very hard to get ahold of.
Professor Jones is a good teacher, but he's very opinionated. There is a quiz every week and the material comes from a mixture of his lecture, the powerpoint and the book. You will need to take detailed notes of what he says, because the power points have minimal information. There is also a discussion every week that is graded on participation.
I took Professor Jones during my fall semester and he is one of the best professors I had yet! Hes super cool and for the most part his lectures are engaging. I was never interested in politics but he made me engage in politics more once I took his class. He has weekly quizzes, discussion posts, and tests. Theyre not hard.
Super funny and cool, passionate about government, and a great professor overall. Everyone in my class loved him and was interested in the topic bc the way he taught. He posts the powerpoints but you gotta take notes during the lecture if you wanna do well on the weekly quiz. There are weekly discussions and the final is multiple choice.
Absolutely hilarious guy, very clearly loves talking about our government and how it works and just wants to make it interesting for everyone in class. Pretty test heavy but I found his tests to exactly mirror the notes taken off of the PowerPoints. He's definitely a character but is willing to help all his students to make sure they do well.
I have never enjoyed a teacher/professor as much as I have with Professor Jones. I wish I could have him forever- his lectures are really really interesting and he is so funny! He really knows how to grab a rooms attention. He is opened to and respectful of any opinions, and really really loves what he does. He is the best.
Dr. Lee Jones was the highlight of my Covid freshman year in college. His teaching was fantastic and truly made me love what was being taught. His lectures truly kept me involved and loving the subject. He would show great movies and videos and it also helped that it was during the presidential election.
I've never been interested in ANYTHING political, but Dr. Lee made this class so engaging! Attendance is mandatory but it wasn't an issue for me since I actually really enjoyed going. The tests are based straight off of his lectures, so if you pay attention and take notes you'll be fine. He tells you what you need to know in a fun, engaging way!
Such a great professer. His lectures are really good and provoke thought. He is very non biased which I think is really important for a political science class. The power points can be organized a little weird but the tests are easy
Class is easy and basically is a lecture. Only homework is discussion questions. Quizzes are easy. Attendance is not necessary.
Professor Jones is a good insight (if you're a first year) to see how college professors are. He is really funny and makes class enjoyable. You are only graded on attendance (so attend), tests, and discussion posts; but tests are a little difficul do to weird wording. Just study & do the work, and you'll pass. Just be responsible about your work.
This is a lecture class, but not bad at all. He grades discussion posts (your opinion), attendance, and tests (open notes) based on the power points and what he says in class . Key to passing is going to class and actually listening and taking notes on what he's says. He really tries to make class enjoyable/ helps you out, so definitely take him!
Really a funny and smart guy. He was well aware a lot of us were there for only the credit and he found a copy of the textbook online for us to use for free (we never used it but it wasn't a bad idea to glance over it if you wanted to make an A+ on a test without cheating) Amazing teacher and extremely easy class, never studied and still got a B+
Great professor. Very funny and has a great personality. Listen to lectures and do the weekly discussions and you'll be good to go.
I really enjoyed this class, professor Jones has a very engaging and fun teaching style and the test questions are usually straight out of the lectures and powerpoints. It is important to attend class as attendance is graded, but also because he will tell you specifically what is important and will be on the test.
Prof. Lee made the class enjoyable & threw in jokes and laughs that made the class go by quick. You do have to stay on top of discussion posts because he'll rarely mention them. If you miss class, make sure you look over the powerpoints & ask a classmate for the notes. He tells you what's on the quiz/test so that is VERY helpful! HIGHLY recommend!
Attendance mandatory! A really good guy and he genuinely cares about his students. He makes his own tests and they're hard if you don't study his ppts extensively.
easy class. you have to show up and the tests are word for word what's on the ppts. no reason to fail. however, his entire lecture is just a political rant based on his personal opinions. hard to sit through.
He had a textbook that you could get for free. All his tests are on Quizlet and he is a really interesting guy and is willing to work with you. Provides great insight into what is happening in the world. Do have weekly discussion posts, and basically monthly test which are the only real two things he takes for a grade
Professor Jones is a very intelligent man. He is EXTREMELY passionate about what he teaches. There are some political biases here and there, but what else can one expect from a college professor? Plus, the things he discusses are VERY important to the current time. His lectures and the information he gives us become a bit disjointed after a while.
I'd say he's almost overqualified for his position. He's clearly a very smart guy with really strong opinions. The entire class is lectures, and he really tries to engage students, which is hard in a class of over 50. The class was overall very enjoyable.
He doesn't talk about the class at all... mainly just his personal beliefs. Doesn't put grades in... ever actually. I emailed him and he raised my final grade to what it should be. Discussions every week, 4 tests and a final: not on lockdown, and extra credit at the end of the semester. The only grades he put in were the tests and final.
The online exams sometimes had weird mistakes in the questions ("both A and B" answers on multiple choice when the answers were randomized), but his lectures were phenomenal and eye-opening, and he knew how to make the whole classroom laugh. His political views come through a lot in his lectures which could put people off, but I didn't mind them.
Personally, I don't care for his lectures, which is what most of the material is dependent on. Goes on constant tangents, has a clear political bias, and flat-out skips material that will appear on the tests. His test questions are too specific at times, so be prepared to take detailed notes. I'd find a different professor for this course.
He's weird, and not in a good way tbh. Idk but I can never pay attention in his class. The way his talks is just like, bleh. His power points don't really make sense to me. Like, I really don't like him. You can find someone better. Pros: no lockdown browser and exams are all online. That's the only good thing tbh. Anyways good luck.
Not the best but not the worst. His lectures can be engaging with his tendency to crack jokes, he also has a tendency to ramble about unrelated topics that don't have anything to do with the topic of the lecture. His tests are also vaguely worded and there is no denying that a lot of the content in this course is based around his personal beliefs.
He makes attendance a grade when you can learn almost all of the content for this course simply by reading the powerpoints. He makes you come to class to listen to him rant about his political views and tell stories about unrelated topics. He is nice and knows how to engage a class, but he also does dismiss beliefs different from his own.
Exams are super hard
Will give you extra points if you participate with him in class, the test we're hard but you can get through. I suggest going to class since all the ratings are saying he does grade attendance, I never go and I have a B but yeah easy class just boring lectures that I don't think are necessary if you're just going to post the PowerPoint online.
Professor Lee was super funny. Lectures do have super boring content to sit thru though. Attendance is required and for every 3 days you miss (unexcused) he takes 5 points off ur grade which sucks. I'll prob finish with a high B but only because my attendance is low. Quizlets online have what's on the test. 4 tests, final, discussions are ur grades
4 tests, a final (mostly derived from the presentations online), and weekly discussion posts. Lectures are long-winded; you'll be studying whatever he doesn't cover in class at home. Real-world examples feel like off-topic ramblings that don't appear on tests. He's alright, at least tries to engage the class, but wouldn't be my first pick.
This professor was really nice and he only had a few discussion posts and tests to be graded. The class was pretty entertaining because he would throw in a few jokes every lecture and you could tell he was very passionate about what he was teaching. He even gave us chances to make up missed exams. I would def take his class again!
Boring class because im not into history but hes a nice guy. there were 4 exams and 1 finals and like 12 discussions. easy. i didnt go to class.
Lee Jones is someone you want to take. He makes his class memorable. Just make sure to skim over the chapters in the textbook and study the power points and you got this class in the bag. He wants his students to leave being more politically active and overall kinder people. I would defiantly take him again.
Professor Jones makes sure to entertain you. He likes to tell stories and make jokes to help you understand the political context of things. The discussion posts and tests are very easy. Open-note and the study sessions are very helpful.
Professor Jones was a pretty decent professor. Your whole grade consists of 4 tests and a final so make sure you do good on those and you should get a good grade. Class wasn't necessarily mandatory but you DEFINETLY need to go because the test questions come specifically from the lectures. He was a entertaining guy and made it pretty easy to listen
Professor Jones was and alright professor. The entire class was based on test grades and the tests were not based on the book, but rather his own personal opinion on the material. All tests are online with a time limit and no lockdown, but make sure you take notes on what he say instead of the power points or the book.
Take him if you want an easy A!!!
The tests were extremely difficult and often formatted incorrectly. Mr Jones frequently talked down to his students and really seemed to like making us uncomfortable, he also seemed really proud of the fact that 30% of students fail his classes. Shout out to the group chat for its stellar memes and being the only thing that kept me sane.
Only based on 4 tests and a final. Most of it is based on lectures so be ready to take notes. He's funny and for the most part made it entertaining but it can get boring. Tests are timed and no lockdown browser. He makes his political opinions known as well. Offers extra credit if you really need it but it's a lot.
Easy class for the most part. You are graded by your attendance, discussion posts, 4 test, and a final. He tends to call on people even if you don't raise your hand. I say you take him.
very funny and chill teacher. As long as you take ppt notes and show up to the review sessions before exams, youll do fine. Only 4 major exams and a lot of discussion posts. Id take him guys
Took Fall Semester 2023, He is passionate of this subject so be well informed if you wanna give some opinion out. Tests are open book/notes, highly recommend to note the things he says to note because it WILL be on the test. mandatory to be at class as he will use apps that you have to sign in for your attendance. He's not difficult.
Show up to class and you will do fine. Tests are open notes. 4 tests the whole year and then the final. he takes attendance on attendance apps where you check in. defiantly recommend.
Great course and an even better teacher, very informational while also being entertaining.
He requires you to check in through an app. It is a part of your grade, but added at the end of the semester. You don't really have to pay attention/answer questions. Has PPT that you use for notes, uses the PPT for questions on exam. Easy class, took only 4 exams offers 3 extra credit opportunities.
Engaging and respectable lectures, he gives a very clear opinion on his view of the current status of the world and is extremely knowledgeable about the work he does. Dr. Jones' lectures can be disorganized and difficult to understand, it is CRUCIAL to show up to class to understand his slides. Overall, 10/10!!
Brought awesome attitude and charisma to the class. He was open to views and discussions from people with different perspective. He knows a lot about government and made the class very engaging. The overall grade in the class was made up of about 4 or 5 tests that weren't hard. Overall great professor.
Very easy class! Made the class fun and enjoyable. Useful to be there since he gives you a lot of the answers that will be on the tests. Attendance is taken and added to your grade at the end.
Professor Jones is a great professor for POLS 1101. His lectures, unlikely most other politics teachers, are quite fun and engaging. He is very funny and is forgiving if you accidentally missed a class or test. His tests are not difficult, but they do contain some stuff not learned in class so it can help to read the textbook. Definitely recommend!
LITERALLY one of the easiest classes i've ever taken. no lockdown browser stuff, just attend the lectures and take notes. i'd take this class & professor again in a heartbeat. no homework at all, literally the only assignments you have to do is the tests assigned every few weeks.
He has slideshows for everything and you can access them all on D2L! You technically have to be in class BUT you can get away with not being there if you join the IClicker and say you were there. He's funny, generally unbiased, and thankfully not a bigot. This man teaches the truth of what's going on and what's always been happening. TAKE HIM!!!!!!
DR. Jones was truly the best social studies teacher I feel like in my whole education career. Attendance was optional, but coming to class helped you on the test because he explained the PPT fully, providing great examples happening in modern culture. There were 4 test for the whole semester, so no homework or weekly quizzes. TAKE HIS CLASS!
HIghly recommend you take this professors. The lectured are so engaging, he makes you want to come to classeveb though attendence was optional. Only 4 tests , no homework or weekly quizzes. He's so knowledgeable and will really give you new perspective on social issues. Take his class, you won't regret it
Good lectures, decent quizzes, never boring. I'd recommend him.
Loved this professor, you can tell he wants students to care about what he's saying and is very open to personal conversation. His lectures usually last the whole class but are pretty insightful. He doesn't cover every topic in these lectures though, so you will need to go the book for those topics. Definitely would recommend for a required class.
I loved his lecture style; he's incredibly funny. However, his lectures have little to do with the test and you will basically have to teach yourself all of the material. I was a junior taking this class, so I had a pretty easy time keeping up, but this is meant to be a freshman course and he does not teach it as such. Find someone else if you can.
Amazing professor, he's funny & engaging. There are 4 tests and a final. Make sure to take notes of everything he says. Attendance is done via online, try not to forget to "clock-in" to class.
Like a lot of people say, if you don't go to class then you're not gonna pass. You're graded on attendance. Not only that, but most if not all of his exam question come from his lectures. He's an incredible professor though. His lectures are engaging and he's very passionate about what he's teaching. Definitely gonna miss his class.
Took him spring '24. Nothing difficult about this class and he makes it pretty easy for a student to succeed.
Professor Jones is engaging and charismatic. His lectures are insightful, though can be disorganized. Attendance is mandatory but easy with the online check-in. Unstuckstudy AI was a great study tool alongside the textbook.
Attendance is mandatory, and the first few weeks are informative. However, as the semester goes on, Dr. Jones strays more and more from the curriculum. In the last 3 weeks of class, the only this he taught were left leaning news articles and picked on students for having differing values from himself. I didn't learn anything of value in this class.
It was one of the last few slots open for late registration. Cool guy and will cut you slack if you show that you care. Rad class and loved my time there.
Just take this class if you want to vibe - 4 tests - All online - Attendance, just know how to "go" to class
Made the class easy and was funny as well. Would recommend if you need a class with not a lot of work and only tests.
Attendance is mandatory. He loves to talk about the subject. He uses students to read in class. There are There are five tests in total, including the final exam. They are easy tests based on lectures and notes. 50 questions for the tests 90 minutes to finish and 100 for the exam 120 minutes to finish.
4 test and 1 final exam. Great professor, great class.
You'll never meet a guy who can joke about politics while also informing the class about the recent political climate like he can! Your grade is based on five tests since he gives no homework, but if you're okay with that then you'll do fine. He gives information about the politics of the past and the present, which is awesome. Would take again!!
Dr Lee is a good professor he is very funny and my favorite professor his class was kinda boring but he made it very fun. He is a little bit political though. He has 4 tests worth 15% 1 finals worth 25% and attendance on iclicker that he usually does before class starts worth 15%. All tests online no lockdown no camera. doesnt respond to emails.
Good professor, take this class to secure that credit. He has four tests and a Final. Attendance is on iClicker, and many people have said he doesn't respond to emails. All tests are online, including the final.
He was a very kind and respectful professor. He was hilarious and made class very interesting and entertaining. I would recommend him!
Caring, engaging professor. Grading is tough: based on attendance and tests. Tests are hard to prep for, with gatekept study guides and subjective questions. Doesn't represent work put in. Lectures are entertaining but disorganized. Clear bias in class made it hard to express differing views (dismissive/mocking/belittled). Would avoid if possible.
I love this professor; passionate and his lectures are engaging. He gets you laughing every class. No assignments or quizzes, just 4 tests that make up your final grade. He gives you the pdf of the textbook you need for class. Prepare to take notes during lecture and study for tests. Uses iClicker for attendance, but I was able to check in at home.
Mr. Jones was a great teacher and i would highly recommend! His class was all lectures and there are 4 tests and 1 final exam. he does take attendance that is part of the grade. His exams have no lockdown browser and are online. My only complaint is that for test 3 there are no substance in the lectures and does not match the test.
I had Professor Jones for American Government, and he was a great teacher. He had me laughing at the majority of his classes and loves to talk to students during the lecture. There are 4 tests and a final, all online, no lockdown browser. He takes attendance on ICLicker for a grade, but half the time I just log in at home.
He's a great professor, makes class go by, and also makes us laugh. This is a good course to take to get it out of the way if needed. There are only 4 tests and a final; tests are online with no lockdown browsers. Attendance isn't mandatory; he uses iClicker for attendance, and you could check in from home.
Lenient with attendance for those who come to class. For every 3 missed lectures he deducts 5 points from your final grade. Overall great lectures, only criticism is the material that is tested over is not accessible unless you attend SI sessions. Some lecture material is also gatekept. Composure of final grade was Attendance, Exams, and Final.
no lockdown browser on all tests hilarious lectures every three times you miss class is five points taken off
Would 100% take again. He only grades based on attendance and tests. The attendance is taken online along with the tests. Fortunately the tests are not lock down browser. Literally haven't been to class since august and got a 91.
Hilarious dude, a little political bias is shown in his way of teaching, but overall, Great professor. Grades based off attendance (taken on iclicker) and tests. I would definitely recommend taking him for credit.
One of the smartest people I think I've ever heard speak. Class was so easy, he cares about teaching and educating rather than proving you can memorize a subject.
the whole class is based on 4 tests, the final, and attendance. i loved coming to class, as he tied current events into a lot of the curriculum. i will say, he has a huge bias in his politics (dem), but the class is engaging nonetheless. the lectures don't fully prepare you for the tests, so it's on you to look at the study guides
