Just study his notes, forget about the homework.
Enjoyed this class very much! Keep up on the reading and you will do fine!
Great Teacher! learned a lot, easy exams
Easy teacher with east tests! Just study your notes and know the KEY events of the readings and you'll ACE the course.

Great teacher!!! Very clear and very interesting lectures!
Very good teacher, very helpful and easy tests! Recommend highly.
He's a very interesting teacher. He can relate all of the hard concepts in a way so that you can understand them. The class is all note taking but, they cover EVERYTHING on the test.

This is a great teacher with a great sense of humor.. Philosophy is kind of weird.. but he makes it enjoyable. There are TONS of point opportunities (tests, quizzes, and homework). I highly recommend him!!
Good teacher
Take his class because its easy, understandable, interesting, helpful,& sometimes fun.Great teacher, his lectures make u think of reality.I think he just a teacher, but i do not know if he believes in the philosophy crap.Highly recommend him, u will not regret it.
He's an EXCELLENT teacher. His class is easy if you pay attention (which isn't hard to do in his class) and do all your homework. He's very helpful and nice.
you need to study a little bit to get a good grade but everything is pretty straight forward
He is a small-minded person with a huge ego semi-covering his very limited self-esteem reserve projecting a public persona with the opaqueness of distilled water who peddles others' paradigms with no passion whatsoever.
Very Straight foward . All you need is his class notes and very easy homework assignments to pass the class with an A .
Best teacher at Palomar! Second time taking this guy, and I HIGHLY recommend taking him for philosophy. You will leave class with a better understanding and a higher knowledge of this subject- he's VERY helpful and VERY clear about things. You'd have to be very lazy OR stupid not to get an A.
One of the clearest, and most organized teachers I've encountered at Palomar. I was nervous about taking Philosophy, doubly nervous about taking it as my first online class. Assignments are easy if you do the reading, minimum participation is also easy. Clear, detailed writing will help you with tests. Easy A, interesting class!
This guy is an Ass. He make you sit there and listen to his Deocratic Babble for an hour. It was not fun.
Never was much into philosophy, but he made it really interesting and we had very lively discussions in class. He can relate philosophy to the modern world which really helps. Great professor!
He is the best teacher I've had at Palomar! He will help you out the best he can if he knows that you care. His structure of teaching is very easy to follow... notes + homework = A. Just study, and ask questions... He is very laid back, REALLY nice, and makes his classes very interesting. He was recommended to me, and I recommend him to you all
I took his online fast track course. There is alot of reading involved. Reading assignments everyday, homework every other day. The test are difficult, but not too much. If you do not have time to dedicate I suggest you do not take this course. Response to your inquiries quickly.
i too took the 8 wk fast trak course. the guy canceled 1 class, and let out early alot. If you ask ?'s he would answer. He wants you to do good if you do too. There was not as much homework as the prev. review. I gave 2 hours a week to the course and got an A. lets u use cheat sheet for tests
Interesting class, easy A
i took the class online, there's a lot of reading but i just did enough to answer 1 question 3x a wk and then what i needed 4 the tests which are 4 essay q's (750 words). just meet requirements 4 participation (3 questions a wk) and met word requirement on tests & ull get an A. the only trouble i had was reading descartes, he gave me a headache!!!
Took online. I really enjoyed this class. Not much homework...just interesting and short readings and weekly discussions. More interesting and a lot easier than the dull philosophy classes I have taken at UCSD. So if you are looking for a fun and relaxing class, this is for you
I took his online fast track course and it was doable. All I had to do was participate in the db 3x a week. No tests, just a midterm and final they were each 4 short essays. I didn't read the actual books I just looked on the internet for the info and got full credit on everything! Pretty easy A.
Made a somewhat tedious subject fun and easy. Explained everything really well and made sure that the class understood all new material before we moved on to anything new. He really cared if the class was learning the material correctly
Hard subject.. But this teacher is pretty good.. tries his best to explain a diffucult subject. homework just about every class. cool thing about him is that on tests you can use a 1 page cheat sheet.
Took the fast track online course and it was a breeze. Post 3 times a week and take a midterm and final. If you actually read like I did its an easy A, I got 100 percent in the class.
This was an online course and he is very organized. You need to post 3 times on different days. There is a mid-term and final. If you are organized and do the work the class will be easy for you. If you fall behind and are not disciplined you will not do well.
This guy is sooo hard. I took his online course and went to 3 out of 4 Sat study sessions and still didnt pass. I have never failed a class in my life. It was awful!!!
Great class. Took online summer class. There is a lot of reading involved. Two tests, 12 pages and 3000 word min. each. Very simple class if you read and like to think. You must also participate in Discussion board 3x a week. Straight forward. Great class.
i also took the online summer class. wish i took it during the school year, BEWARE OF SUMMER ONLINE CLASSES even if they are super easy they make you read endlessly and they are wicked fast paced. but this class was easy, fun and interesting. so take it, you wont regret it!
Kerckhove is worth taking. His lectures are clear. Willingly answer any question and he make sure that every one understand the concept before move on to the next. The material are hard but with his instruction and your input time (read you book and practice on the CD), you should get an easy A.
Dr. Kerckhove, aka "Lee" was one of the most inspirational professors that I have had the privelage to learn from. He is extremely enthusiastic, and loves his job (which is, to me, the most important thing). I am going to be a professor myself, and besides learning about the material taught, I learned skills to be an excellent professor. Thanks Lee
Took the online class and it was by far the hardest class I've ever taken! Tests were between 22-40 questions long but graded out of 100 points so if you missed more than 5 questions, you would get a low B or below. Your grade was majorly based off the 4 tests so if you failed one then you were pretty much screwed.
such a great teacher, i enjoyed him the most out of all my professors.
Took this class online and it was by far the one of the best I've ever had. Fast track, but all you do is post twice a week in the discussion board and do 2 essays. He is very helpful and nice, all the resources are on BB. I personally hate the subject, but the class is a very easy A if you just do the work.
Professor Kerckhove is AWESOME! He makes the material very relatable and is always available to answer questions. Other than studying and light reading, there was virtually no homework. He gives a few simple quizes to verify that you are keeping up with the material and the tests are a cinch if you attend class regularly.
Great class, doesn't take attendance but you HAVE to show up if you plan on passing/understanding the material. Good lectures, takes tihngs apart bit by bit making it easier for us to understand. Grades pretty easily, is very understanding and very helpful. Goes over test material before the exams...VERY clear and very helpful. Easy A.
online fast track class very easy posts twice a week and then a midterm and final with 4 questions and 750 words required per question only bout one book all others were online for free easy class and teacher helpful
Kerckhove was by far my favorite professor this year. He is a great guy, his class is fun, he has a wonderful sense of humor. he gives advice on scholarship opportunities and general life assistance. You can tell he loves teaching and his students. Take his class, and don't hesitate on stopping by office hours. It'll be a treat.
i love his teaching style and he is a very humerous and kind person. he will help you with anything philosophical!! fantastic and fun teacher, reccomend him to anyone reguardless of their knowledge of philosophy :D
BEST TEACHER EVER. hands down. maybe even best person ever. loved every minute of it. he is a great teacher, tests are easy, no homework, learned ALOT. love him love him love him!! sounds like vincenni from the princess bride. take the class, you wont regret it
He is a great professor. He teaches more than just the subject material, but life lessons. Not just any life lessons you've probably heard of before, but how to use philosophy to help you in what is really important in life. After taking philosophy, I've really reassessed the things I want in life. I got an A, but you have to work for it.
Easy fast track class.
Easiest fast track professor. His assignments are crystal clear and very easy to follow. Definitely recommend.
Awesome philosophy teacher! Very interesting material, and he KNOWS what he talking about. Even though I gave easiness a "5" on the rating, there is still hw, but it isn't an obscene amount. Pay attention, do the reading, take it seriously, and you will pass this class with a good grade. and the bonus of a spiritual reward.
Best proffesor Ive ever had! He knows his stuff and helped me so much. He is very funny and interesting, I wish other teachers would be more like him. He takes time to notice every student and learn their names. He is very sweet but not a push over and hilarious in class.
Really cool guy, there is a lot of homework and it is hard to comprehend. His test are really tricky, but just make sure you take the final it was super easy and he went straight off old exams (so keep those)
Interesting teacher and class. Had a great time learning philosohpy and looked forward to it every meeting. Homework was due almost every class meeting, but was very straightforward. Study the material, attend the lectures, and have some interest to earn an A.
He's an amazing teacher! There's a good amount of homework for the class but it's fairly easy. His tests are easy but based primarily on in class lectures so if you skip class alot, this isn't the class to take. He grades fair, as long as you get the homework in on time he'll give you full credit. Overall he was the best teacher I've ever had and made class so fun! He has a great sense of humor!
Super great professor!! I've taken this class twice before :/ but he really explains the material so you can understand it. He drops the lowest quiz grade and if you're satisfied with your grade, you don't need to take the final. Also easy grader and gets to know your names which is nice
I took Logic. Heavy book work, you must be good at algebra to understand it! Dr. Kerchove is not good at explaining himself to answer student questions.
I didn't like him very much and his tests are pretty hard...I wouldn't take his class again.
His Philosophy 100 online class was very enlightening and interesting class that had a lot of homework, but .Instructor was very helpful and there were lecture notes & videos to assist in answering the homework. Very organized class.
I enjoyed the class more than I expected. He was very clear in what he expected, and with the big tests, basically gave you what you needed to do to get it right! I took many new ideas with me, but it wasn't the hardest class. He's a nice guy.
One of the best professors I've had. I hated philosophy and have taken it 3 times. This professor really makes it understandable. He writes his own textbook and you do all the homework from that. Tests are hard but the quizzes are easier (all short answer). It's not hard to pass this class. Fun and funny professor really recommend!
Very straightforward class. If you actually attend every class and put in a little study time before exams it will be an easy A. only downside is there is homework due almost every lecture
AWESOME PROFESSOR!!Crystal clear ethics VERY helpful! Needs at least 3+ hours of reading each week. The work load each week was extreme. A lot of reading and writing. Although, if you have the time to read the material and turn it in you will get an A, easily. Basically, read, write, follow the directions and meet deadlines and you'll get an A :)
Great professor! His lectures are very clear and he covers everything that is on the test. He cracks jokes often and has a nerdy sense of humor, so that's amusing. He writes his own textbooks. Roughly 3 quizzes, 3 tests, 2 essays, and 1 cumulative final. Don't bother with the reading, he covers the topic in class the next day.
Really passionate you can tell he loves what he does
This professor conducts his class so that even the most fail prone student has a chance at making a decent grade. The homework is 1-2 pages a lecture and is extremely straight forward. He is very clear at explaining concepts and explains them again if anyone has any questions. He is overly polite to people who love to talk. Tests are easy.
This class involves a lot of reading. He writes his own textbook, and you do all the homework from that. You also have to participate in the discussion boards online twice a week. It's a lot of work, but is actually very easy. The reading can be the most difficult, but he puts the main concepts into simpler words. Highly recommend him!
This dude's hella chill, and very clear when he is lecturing. He doesn't have a mandatory attendance, but it's recommended considering that he might extract questions from the lectures. He has an entertainingly dry sense of humor, and is very kind. He won't tread on your beliefs or shove his down your throat. The subjects fascinating as well. Take!
He is probably the easiest and most understanding proffessor I've taken. I didn't even buy the book I just used the library one. The work is easy and bb is organized! Easy A!!! I had no interest in the subject but it was straight forward which made it easy to pass!! take him!!!!
good teacher
Among my many great philosophy professors, Mr. Kerckhove is among the best. This is due to the fact that he's always willing to discuss philosophical ideas in general during service hours, even if you have little knowledge about some material. He's not abrasive at all, he knows his material, and if he didn't, he's good at pretending he does.
A great lecturer! He's very serious about his office hours; if you're lost I'd seriously recommend taking them. The man knows his material and will be honest with the material he isn't. Great class for someone who wants a great introductory philosophy class. Unique class structure that makes perfect logical sense.
You definitely need the textbook for class lecture and homework. You have homework for every class but it's not hard. He'll help you if you ask him directly. Kinda dorky but overall an easy going teacher. Tests are hard but if you do the homework and take notes in class you should do just fine.
Took this class online. Get everything done and there is no way you dont get 100%. Heavy book use
He's a great guy! His teaching style is a little confusing but once you get used to it, his class is really interesting. If you do all the assignments (it's not a lot), you'll be fine. If you take notes for quizzes, you'll do great. And he posted the textbook online so there was no extra money spent!
He's very funny. His lectures are super interesting. Take notes in class to help you for the quizzes. Do the homework, it's not very hard or long.
Okay seriously... he was the best professor I'd ever taken a class from in my life. The topic was one of my favorites but the way he conducted his class was the best ever. SO ORGANIZED! never surprised you with crap you'd never heard about, and really gave you encouragement. Taking a class over summer by him. favorite by far!
Best professor I'v worked with. NO powerpoints which was a huge plus. Homework nearly every week, but it was super simple and short. He came up with the quiz questions on the spot, which were usually directly related to homework questions andor lecture material. Show up to class and you'll get an easy A.
he is a extremely nice and caring person. understands when students have trouble in class. I is extremely difficult to fail his class.
Took his online class, which was pretty self explanatory. I got an A, but I really had to sit and read the book to understand. I probably would have benefitted to take this class in person to have someone explain these concepts and ideas in person. My only complaint was that it took him almost a week to respond to an email.
Professor Kerckhove is a very neat professor. I took his online class and everything was clear and concise as to what he expects and wants. There was a midterm essay and final essay. They're basically 5 questions, 300 words each. This class is very doable in 8 weeks if you follow his instructions.
I took this class online but I didn't listen to his PowerPoint lectures, I just read them. I did fairly well on the quizzes (sometimes using the 3 chances). My suggestion would be to take the quizzes the max times because most of the exam questions come from the quizzes.
He's a pretty good professor. His organization was pretty nice except we fell behind so halfway through the class stopped looking at the syllabus. I understood almost all the concepts beforehand but he did explain them very clearly and organized the thoughts neatly.
This class is super simple. Read the book, answer the questions, and do the essays. The answers to questions are in the back of the book as well. The professor is very helpful and understanding.
Professor Kerckhove's class was filled with eye-opening, informative lectures and fantastic class discussions. He took great care to be unbiased in his lectures; this is, perhaps, the most important quality a professor of philosophy can posess.
You can tell he loves his job and loves what he teaches. It makes the class more interesting. He encourages questions and if you need help in the class he is very willing to help you (it may be hard to see him though, depending on your schedule). Show up to class and take notes. That's all you need to pass.
Online. No software or book! Each week has three 15 page PDFs to read and about three 40 minute PPoints. Professional, gets back in a few days on email. One 10 question mult choice quiz (3 tries) quite easy. Once month exam of 18 mult choice questions and 2 short essays, fairly easy. 2 discuss board posts required each week. Very informative.
Very inspiring teacher, definitely likes what he does. Besides one major essay (that you have tons of time to do), keeping up with some minor reading and showing up to class is all you'll need.
Easy class but there's a lot to do. Homework due every class and 1 essay due. 1 presentation due based off a play and participation points are at random. PowerPoints are helpful but the info can get confusing at times if you don't ask questions. You'll literally sit in class the whole time listening to him talk and no one else will talk.
Dr K. is the best professor I've ever had! The class consists of weekly quizzes that you can retake, a midterm, and a final! All multiple choice with few essay questions. The class is straightforward and is not hard if you read the required materials. Take this class and you will learn a lot!
An amazing professor, you can tell that Dr. K loves what he teaches. He loves students that ask questions or engage with the lecture. There's homework and participation every class, but it's easy. We fell behind so he ended up doubling our participation points and made every quiz a take home, even our final. One of the best at Palomar.
His online class is straight forward, maybe 4 essay questions on exams overall. He was agreeable to my schedule changes when I asked in advance.I wish I didn't have him for an online fast track because I wanted more time with this material! Great class. His slides were a lesson in organized chaos--listen to them if you can.
Took class online. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Great online class structure, simple, straight forward. Power points are well put together and clear. Would definitely take another class!!!
Easy A, allowed multiple attempts on quizzes and overall an interesting class.
I took both PHIL 111&122 online with prof. K no textbook needed, outstanding class, very easy as long as you do all your assignments. Quiz and Exam have multiple attempts, 100% would take class again.
Took Phil 111 online, was very easy and resources were always available. Grading was fair and discussions were interesting and easy to contribute to.
I took his class online and it really is an easy A. I really loved how structured the class was and he is clear on everything he expects on discussion boards. You also have multiple attempts for the online quizzes. I definitely recommend!
PROS: easy a, gives you 100% on most tests and quizzes even if you are wrong, funny, easy tests, everything is clearcut, on tests he gives you 10 questions and you have to answer like 4. no final. 3 tests, like 6 quizzes CONS: none, he's amazing take him
Assignments were very simple, one quiz and two discussion posts per week (make sure you do them on separate days or you'll only get half credit). About six lecture videos per week, ranging from 30 minutes to an hour long, so make sure you plan our your week well. Overall, I learned a lot about the topic and it was interesting. Good luck :-)
Professor Kerckhove is a pretty easy professor. I took his fast track class online and it had very simple guidelines. Participation in discussions each week along with a quiz on the chapter covered. No textbook needed as it was all provided through canvas. Along with that, you get 3 tries for each quiz but it is timed and the questions are altered.
I took this as an online class. He is a really good professor. I enjoyed his lectures which lasts 30-70 mins (3-4 lectures per two weeks). The material is clear and to the point and he also offers explanations. I learned a lot from this class.
This online class is a lot of reading and lecture material. Lots of material so plan ahead and stay on top of it. 3 chances to take every quiz and 2 discussion posts due each week. 2 Exams with 2 tries each. This class is designed to allow you to pass. I had a C and Prof Lee allowed me to do extra work to bring it up to a B. Awesome guy!
Favorite professor I have ever had! He is fantastic! A lot of reading, but nothing unattainable. Discussions were fun! Hes inspirational and wants to hear what you have to say and actually cares. Exams werent difficult and essays were super chill! I highly recommend taking this course, awesome professor!!!!
Professor Kerckhove is a very nice professor! Easy grader and there is not much homework to do. There are 3-4 lectures (ranging from 15-50 mins each) a week, one discussion post, and one module quiz. There are two short papers to do (he was a very easy grader), a midterm exam, and a final exam. All quizzes are based on the lectures.
Teachers usually cripple with work. Not him. They do not put concepts into forms we can grasp. He does. He summarizes key parts of philosophers and gives 2 chances to take each test! No matter what your major, he IS the best in the nation. You OUGHT to TAKE HIS CLASS. Want an easy A? And learn fascinating stuff? You owe it to yourself.
His lectures were very interesting and put complex theories into easy-to-understand, practical terms. I enjoyed listening to him speak because it's made me a more critical thinker in regard to individual conduct, contemporary society, and metaphysical topics. You can get a lot more out of this class than an A if you just read, listen, and ponder.
This class was fast track, so it was 8 weeks long. So for fast track, there is usually 4 lectures a week and they range from 20 minutes to an hour. There is 1 quiz, and 1 discussion too. Those are easy. I was able to finish by Monday. The lectures can be a bit long-winded but I also found them interesting and he seems passionate/knowledgeable
Professor Kerckhove is the professor to take for philosophy. He grades on 6 quizzes, a short term paper, midterm, and final. At least for my class the quizzes and tests were open note. He doesn't rush through the content, and he doesn't require reading. Best advice is to take good notes and listen to the pre recorded lectures.
8 week fast track and it was incredibly easy. Each week there are 4 lectures totaling about 90-120 mins. Each Sunday there is a quiz and a discussion post due. 2 papers and 2 exams. He allows 3 quiz attempts and 2 exam attempts. Watch the lectures at 1.25x or even 1.5x cause he talks pretty slow
The lessons were almost entirely video lectures, ranging from 15 minutes to a little over an hour long. But speaking as someone who can't sit still for a TedTalk, this guy's lectures were RIVETING. He's clearly passionate about what he's teaching. Perfect pacing, clear info on the slides. His enthusiasm was contagious.
I took his phil. 200/critical thinking class and it was great since the material was all video lectures and the weekly quizzes were based off of the practice problems and it was very easy to succeed if you made an effort to.
To anyone wondering if they should take his class, the answer is Yes. Easy yes. He is super laid back, mostly philosophy classes are mainly opinion based, so most of his grading is on completion, and his quizzes and tests are all true or false/ multiple choice. If you are strong in those areas, then you'll do just fine.
He's honestly so easy going and the discussion post are fun to think about. The whole course was great and 100% recommend.
Bro is such a sigma. 7 quizzes, two papers, 8 discussion posts, a midterm and a final. This class was pretty easy and as long as you turn in stuff before the deadline you will have no worries in this class. Take it
This class was very easy yet quite informational. If you want easy credits but still want to learn something that can potentially help you, take this class. At no point in time did I find any assignment very difficult. The only negative thing I can think of is that his lectures can get kinda lengthy but obviously, that's not that big of a problem.
Took Phil200 in the summer and the class was a breeze. Video lectures are very easy to follow, and most have a text summary to go with it. Most videos will also have a practice set to follow with it. The weekly quizzes have 3 attempts, and are like the practice sets. There is also a discussion every week with an essay paper every few weeks.
I took this class for the first 8 weeks of my fall semester, and it was not stressful at all, I found the topics pretty interesting actually. By the end of each week, you would have to complete one discussion board and a short quiz. In total, there were 2 short papers 5-7 pages which she graded fairly just follow her instructions.
This is a great class taught by a great professor. The lectures are long but very informative, so time never felt wasted. Grading is fair and it was easy to keep up with assignments even though time was limited (8 weeks for Phil111). He is very understanding of technical problems and very easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this class.
I've taken two online courses with this professor and it has been by far the most organized class. There are clear grading criteria, weekly quizzes, and helpful handouts posted, and the lectures are thorough with good real-world examples so they are easy to understand.
Very generous man! Technical difficulties mid final (the course kept continuously deleting from our canvas and deleting takes) so he just gave all of us 100s. However, be aware that the tests are difficult, so study well! Make sure that you understand all the fallacies and that you are able to read a sentence and know what fallacy goes with it.
One of the most understanding and organized online professors I had so far! The lecture was long but very interesting, the exams were kind of difficult, and the discussion boards were standard, nothing hard to do. Overall great class and professor.
This class is a breeze! Engaging lectures, easy assignments, and unbeatable flexibility. Use Unstuck ai alongside the free resources to ace this course.
I took this class online for 8 weeks over the summer and it was very manageable. The assignments and quizzes were relatively easy, and the way his class is structured makes it very accessible. Most of what you see on the exams are based on the lectures, so as long as you pay attention to the videos, its very easy to get an A in this class.
He was incredibly understanding when I forgot to take a weekly quiz while I was swamped with homework from other classes. Great professor, exams/quizzes were straightforward and the only other assignments were either discussion boards or 2, 5-6 page essays. (8 week course)
Prof. Kerckhoves course was a great one and for being a fast-paced first 8 week course I would say it very managable! There was a quiz and discussion post each week, and 2 papers and exams within the whole course. Do a bit of studying before each quiz and you will be great! he always gave good feedback and cared about students! Take this course!
