He's a nice professor. May say some critical things about your writing but it's just to help you become a better writer. If you could endure his class, you will become a better writer.

He seems very harsh at first but he s very patient and understanding. He is very funny and makes his classes a pleasure to be in with simple group quizzes and readings. If you need help with your grammar then look no further, Schreiber is the professor you need. PS: He is a very fair grader.

He is the man. Great sense of humor, a lot of homework, helpfull with grammer, fair grader, and one of my favorite professor's yet :) I recommend you take him!

GREAT PROFESSOR! This professor is very critical of your writing but FAIR! Will make you go to turoring and gives lots or reading and writing assignments, however, nothing you can't handle! Test are also fair and easy if you do the work. Ohhh DONT BE LATE, he's not fond of tardiness, other than that you're good to go!

I personally haven't learned anything in his class. He is cool though. He tries hard to make his classes interesting and to build up a good relationship with his students. I had an issue with his grading just because I was concerned about my grade. But overall, he is an easy professor.

One of my favorite professors hands down! It was a very relaxed environment, he was extremely reasonable about the work load, and gave really helpful criticism of my work. Tough enough for me to improve my writing-funny enough to make the process easier.

One of the BEST PROFESSORS @ JJAY. If you seriously want to improve your writing and bring it to a professional level without the difficult papers and harsh grades than this is the prof to take. He is very fair with grades and make up assignments. So go ahead and take his class whatever it is, promise it will be worth it. Made every Sat worth it.

Best Professor EVER!! He enforces the lessons by games and group quizzes. Win the games and you get a 1/2 star. 5 stars and get an automatic 1/2 letter grade bump-no questions asked. Assignments are never more than a 1.5 pages and if you do them well...half star. Overall,its a really fun class and very laid back.

The professor really knows his work. Yes, he can be tough sometimes but which professor isn't though when you don't do his work. By far my favorite professor. The first english class I have ever taken, that I was willing to wake up at 7 am for. Everyday is a new adventure in this class. The longest paper i wrote was 2 pages, double spaced. There is no reason not to take this class. Amazing.

Professor Schreiber is one of the best, if not the best, professors I've ever had. He makes class fun and he grades very fairly by giving you two classes to hand in assignments and opportunities to get stars to get your grade up. He's comical (kind've corny but it works) and he creates a very option environment in the classroom. Overall he's great.

He is the expect of grammar kings. He will shape your grammar and make you realize that English isn't as bad as you think. He will make you love English, even if you hate it to your death.

I definitely would not say he is an "easy A". You will work for your grade and get what you deserve undoubtedly. The opportunities to better yourself as a writer are endless in this course. If you do nothing else- you will learn. The hw assignments are curt and trivial. Two papers? A midterm, and a final exam. TAKE HIM!

Truly an inspirational and great professor. Really turns the class into a community and was one of the classes I was actually excited to go to. Gives a Midterm, Final and a couple of readingpage long assignments. Textbooks are like $15 each (2). He grades fairly but gives a lot of extra credit. Actually going to miss having him as a professor.

Professor Schreiber is not a very easy grader. Fair, but not easy. Don't get upset -you will be given lots of opportunities to receive extra credit. You just have to work for it. Loves giving assignments via group quizzes, which sometimes sucks, depending on what group you are going to be assigned to. Midt, Final, and two papers for a grade.

Easy English class. He is very big on grammar. He is very reasonable with the work load. The midterm and final are very similar to the review. It's easy to pass this class if, especially if you participate. I enjoyed being in his class this semester, definitely would take him again.

His class is enjoyable and he makes the learning environment fun if the students go along with it as well. His class is made up of a midterm, final, and two papers. He is without a doubt one of the best professors to have. The class was was straight forward and engaging. He's big on grammar so prepare yourself for that. Honestly, you either like him or you don't! I'd say about 80% like him and his teaching style. He tries to make class fun and often times he succeeds. Get ready to be roasted at times, but you can also roast back! He grades somewhat tough, but if you show up and actually put some effort into the class an B+/A- is def. possible! You'll have fun!

Professor Schreiber (spell it right) is the perfect definition of a Pedagogue. He is very passionate about his work, students, and the course. Be prepared to read, some archaic and others somewhat contemporary, reading from an anthology of oeuvre based on New York. Yes, you will learn grammar and words; however, relax, just do the work!

He's a great professor. Very funny and sarcastic. 2 grammar exams (midterm/final) and two papers (each with minimal research) make up most of your grade. Do your homework, write amazing papers (and I do mean amazing) and do well on the exams and you should get an A-/B+; he is a very tough grader when it comes to the papers.

He was a very interesting man, his class was extremely fun and entertaining. From when we had a debate in class, to when we had Question Day, and then the party on the last day. He was caring and very knowledgable. At the end of the semester you basically come to an agreement with him on what your grade should be for the semester. very enjoyable

You'll like this class for sure. At first he seems sarcastic and rude but as the semester goes on you notice he's not. It's his way of caring. Not a lot of work b/c you're actually enjoying it and he's helpful when you need it. Not a lot of papers or lengthy, as long as you're doing the work in a short amount of pages. He was a really great professor, but the class is very boring if you don't participate. He didn't give lots of homework; we had about 6 homework assignments and 2 papers. There were two test; a midterm and a final, which was fairly easy, since its just based on grammar.

Great professor but the class gets boring if it's just him talking the entire time. Two exams and two papers. Not much homework. You need to purchase two books on your own for this class but they're cheap. Great class.

Doesn't get much better. Professor Schreiber genuinely cares about his students' ability to write on a practical level. Both major papers leave room for creativity. Small assignments between classes. Fun walking tour of the High Line. Avoid if you think sarcasm or dry humor is rude. He uses it to create a relaxed setting and connect with students.

Prof Schreiber was quite literally the best English professor I have ever had. His class is about how to be practical in your writing, to reduce the repetitive. He may not give many assignments but the Major ones are no walk in the park. You must be prepared to work and participate to get a good grade.

Professor Schreiber is the best. He is very reasonable and helpful. He is not here to stress you out but to help you grow instead. He starts the course of with an assignment to see where you are academically. Then, he will focus on grammar until you master the basics and more. By the end, you will be able a GREAT writer.

Professor cares for all his students and respects everyone in the classroom. He gives plenty of chances to earn extra credit, which can be used at the end of the semester. His feedbacks are always great and helps improve your writing. Definitely would take his class again.

This is by far, hands down, the best Professor. He's funny, caring, straight forward, does what he has to do and is understanding. Im not sure if attendance is really necessary but its better if you do go because it shows respect. Treat how you want to be treated. Tried getting his class for next semester but it was full! If you can, get him.

Professor Schreiber's class is focused on grammar, which was very helpful when I had to write papers for his class or other classes. He made us work in groups, and do board quizzes, so we could learn more the grammar symbols, and how to write correctly. We used one book that cost around $8. Overall, very helpful, and 10/10 would take him again.

Professor Schreiber is literally the best English professor at John Jay. He is so patient and caring for his students. Took ENG 101 and ENG 201 with him and it was simply amazing.

Cheap textbook. Rarely any homework, even when there was it was easy. He did give a group project around the middle of the semester, pretty easy (if you have active group members). Tests are based on grammar and he does the review before the tests. He may seem sarcastic at times, but he does mean well and wants us to do our best.

Hes laidback for the most part. Not a lot of homework, if there is its fairly simple. The class is very grammar oriented. He makes an effort to engage with the class. Lots of group work.

Professor Schreiber is very grammar oriented, it may seem ridiculous to you at first but taking the class with him pays off. He knows how to encourage students to engage in the class setting, and apart from the loads of homework given, he makes sure you are learning at the same time. Would definitely take again!!

I took Professor Schreiber for 2 semester. He is a great professor. He loves to keep the class engaged and can be sarcastic often. Some may find him rude, but I say he is just straight forward with what he wants. Lots of reading for 201 but the homeworks are based on those, not hard. 101 wasn't as much reading. I'm really glad I took him.

Great ENG 201 Professor, cares for all his students and doesnt give excessive work. Be present on time to all your classes and do your assignments on time and you will definitely pass with a good grade. Ill for sure miss him.

I signed up for this class at the last minute and I am so thankful I changed my schedule and was able to have Professor Schreiber as my English 201 teacher. His grading is very fair and if he sees that you actually are trying to do well in his class then he will pass you. However, don't expect to pass if your not going to show up or do the homework

By far the best professor I have ever ever ever had, no doubt! I genuinely enjoyed this class. BE ON TIME because he does not like when his class is interrupted. Overall, he is not tough. Do the work & you'll do more than fine. We used digitation which made the class even better. Everything was posted on digitation (papers, midterm/final project).

I really liked his mix of asynchronous and synchronous classes. Professor Schreiber is an extremely caring professor and is understanding. He gives you the grade you deserve. I really enjoyed his class . The material is very grammar heavy and digication is a very big portion of your grade. Would totally recommend.

I loved how organized he was. It is an insane amount of work but as long as you follow due dates and show effort, he'll give you a fair grade. Gives back great feedback. Digication is insanely important to him. Don't take if you don't like participating or are lazy. In my opinion, there was too much group work. I would take his class again.

Its not a hard class if you do your work on time. No extra credit opportunities but he does have a point system in which if you get a lot of points you get half a grade bump.

Whether its about a serious topic or a stupid joke, he will have something(wise and/or funny) to say. I regret not failing his class so I could have him as my professor again. I was so close, too.

LISTEN! to all of you that want to know if Schreiber is a good prof. HE IS!! for both 201 and 101. This is not your regular boring English class for sure. You will gain a lot from his lessons. It's not your typical writing nonsense essays class. He goes back to the roots. I promise you, it's so worth it.

For my first semester of college, he was my favorite professor. In terms of work and writing, there is somewhat of a load but it's nothing too crazy. He may also seem critical and judgemental, but it's only because he genuinely wants to help students with writing skills. If you're choosing an eng101 class, 100% definitely go for Schreiber.

Very hip and FAIR guy. I'm a strong English student, yet Prof. Schreiber pushed me to my full potential. He gives helpful feedback if you ask him. Your grade is earned, don't expect an A- or A grade if you leave out parts of the E-Portfolio (that's 40% of your grade). Don't miss classes, and PARTICIPATE. Your experience will be "Painless."

He is that Professor that is all about "Tough love" at the end of our semester he dedicated a whole class period of us simply asking him questions we also had an end of the year mini party with snacks , music , etc. I 1000% RECOMMEND you to take this class , you won't regret it. Oh also! the only textbook needed is "Painless Grammar" ($5-$9)

I took Professor Schreiber during the Fall 2021 semester, so this is way overdue. Freshman year was rough for me, and I was in danger of failing his class. But he saw my potential and did everything he could to help me pass, giving me resources and accommodations when needed. Tough yet compassionate, he truly cares for his student's success.

Professor Schreiber is an honest professor who teaches well and wants his students to succeed. He does his part and expects his students to return by committing to hard work and studying. He uses Digication and all the work done is posted there. Make sure to proofread all your writings, use proper grammar, and always study the proofreading marks.

Professor Schreiber is hit-or-miss with a lot of students because of his relaxed stature. He is extremely tough-love, but you can tell that he cares about his students and their work. I definitely did not expect this professor and class to turn out the way it did. The work is simple enough. You absolutely must participate. Try your best to attend every class. You get opportunities to improve your grade. The professor can seem odd and sometimes calls on people suddenly, but you get used to it. Overall, a strange but fair class.
