BLAW3311 - 5.0 rating“Took him for law 1&2 and real estate law, great professor and exams are easy, I never went to class except for review days, he basically tells you whats on the exam and just study that, not sure if he curves or not, and exams are all M/C and they are the only grades you have, attendance is not mandatory, but the book is a must, lectures are boring”

Easy class. Read and regurgiate. Scantron exams.
No homework. Scantron tests. Schwemer is not the most entertaining lecturer, but he answers all questions to the best of his ability. Read the text carefully and you will make an A or B.
A good teacher, does a good job. Has a nice review, says everything that is on the test. You have to study a little for the tests, and you should get a B. Highly recommended.
Teaches straight out of the book. Tests are fairly straight-forward. Animated lecturer keeps you at least awake for the late evening section.
this prof. is the most born prof. I ever had. read straight from book.an advise... just stay home and read on your own b/c thats what he does in class....and i must not forget sometimes he mumbles then all of sudden he yells...very annoying.
He lectures straight from the book. The materials can be boring at times but he tries to give interesting case examples. Tells us exactly what will be on the test. Read your text and you will do good on tests. Never try to rush thru materials, will postpone tests.
He knows his stuff. Materials can be dry at times. But you MUST read the book to do well on the test. Be ready to read about 25 chapters for this class(it's not as bad as it sounds.) Does give out extra credits which is really easy. Also curves if the class average is low. Overall it's a do-able class.
Gives killer reviews for the tests. Tells you exactly what you do and do not need to know. Do not expect to have much class discussion. He knows what he wants to talk about and doesn't like to get interrupted. Good prof overall.
You must read and study the chapters to do well on his tests. He goes over the chapters fast so if you want to do well on his tests then read, study, and memorize ahead.
Took this professor for gift & estate tax & we was fabulous. Only 2 tests (both 50 questions on a Scantron) & a 10 page paper on a topic of your choosing. In class, he tried to use interesting examples to liven up otherwise boring material. Really enjoyed the class & he seems to be a nice guy as well.
you will need the book for this class, but you don't need to attend class. he gives an extensive review the day before a test. however, he does tend to move his tests around so you might show up to class a couple days before the test just to make sure you get the review. he gives 3 tests and a final, pretty straight forward, easy A
Great teacher! Nice and funny guy and he trys to keep lectures entertaining. Easy tests! He literally tells you exactly what will be on the exam.
you will need the book but an old version will be sufficient.he gives great reviews, go to class b-cuz he gives out test questions. knows what he is talking about. is a nice man.
I had him in grade school. His a very nice prof, but he just talks a lot. But overall I would take him for other classes
Just show up and you will make at least a B+. He gives you questions on the test on the class before the test so you can just look them up in your book the night before the exams! You must have your book though to pass!!
I did not buy the book and attended class on every other occasion(or less). He gave a review be4 the test. He goes quickly so write fast. Test were roughly 40 TF questions. He also would give out case review assignments(if no book use google) These only help your grade. Thought I had a C for sure, got a B instead. Would reccomend as MANA elective.
Very easy class. He tries to make the subject interesting. make sure you attend class and take notes or record test reviews.
Great prof. Very interesting class. Gives awesome test reviews. Highly recommend taking him for blaw.
Hi Guys! Do not take his class. He is thinking he is smart but he is not.. He insults everyone when someone ask question, no reviews or powerpoint presentations online or anything to study..He is fast and telling reviews verbally.. which is not fair..Do not take his class
he is better than Jere Turner. enjoy his class. His lecture is pretty fast pace even for reg. semester. 3 MC tests. lectue are entertaining. test @ has quite a bit of tricky Q's, not intentional, bt the wordings can be tricky. give xtrs credit easy assignment if class insist on it. helpful & willing to answer q's and help student, unlike Turne
Great professor, very helpful. He definitely has a way of making his class interesting. Holds the attention of the student very well. His vocal fluctuations made me giggle sometimes as he will suddenly get loud. Very excitable, but great prof!
good prof. def recommend taking him for blaw gives good review before tests, curves tests, and is pretty funny during lecture. straightforward class no tricks!
Really loved his class. Lecture is really helpful, tells what wil be on the coming test. His reviews are the best. He tells you exactly what will be covered and what you should focus on. The book was really helpful to me. He bases his reviews and lectures from it. He tells jokes and stories. Made a boring subject fun!
B law 1. He is GREAT! Definitely take him. He follows the book and his reviews are so easy. Tests are the easiest out of all the B law teachers.
He's a good lecturer and very funny. Lectures straight from the book and gives really good reviews. He tells you what will be on the test, which are situational. You still have to know the information though, to do well on the test. Extra credit assignment end of semester. He goes too fast sometimes and two of the tests were 9 chapters long.
The class itself is hard, but he makes it as simple as possible. The class requires a lot of reading and plenty of studying, but it is not impossible to get an A. His reviews before the exam are very important. He tells you exactly what will be on the exams. He uses no visual aids, all verbal lectures. Gives extra on final average (3pts). Take him!
His text were very straight forward and what I would recommend recording his class then listen to it again. I took his class this past summer and it was worth it because he let you out early but Jere Turner is more entertaining then him.
He is so boring. If you want to keep your sanity please do not take him. He has a 25 page paper due midway through the semester. He speaks all 2 hours and 50 mins of the class with a 5 min break in the middle. He speaks so fast that you cant even always get the notes down. Save your self if you have a choice or bring coffee every time if you don't.
He tells you exactly what is going to be on the test, question by question during the review so you don't really need to show up to class but it is recommended so that you can understand the material.
Easy class, but a lot of work. At least 50 pages of writing (essay and mid-term combined).
EASY PEASY! Attend every class, record his test review days, take class notes (vocabulary + examples given.)Super easy A! What's on his review is EXACTLY what's on the test - no surprises!!
The course material is pretty boring but he explains it well. Overall it's a fairly easy course, make sure you show up for the exam review the day before a test and you'll be good to go.
Great class. Great teacher. He gives great reviews. Go to class and take good notes and you will be fine. Easy A. Gives extra credit--4.5 points added to your overall grade for the class if you do a short (5-10 minutes) powerpoint presentation about anything involving real estate. Can earn additional 1.5 points by watching others presentations
Great Professor, gives reviews for every exam which cover exactly what will be on the test! 3 test and the final, he drops lowest test grade from first 3 test... he also makes the class interesting with his examples
Great professor! I enjoyed his class very much. Gives reviews for tests, a total of 4 tests and drops the lowest test grade.
Take his class. He loves the law and it shows in his teaching. He also wants you to get an A. He happily answers questions, gives an opportunity for extra credit, explains things clearly, and tells you what's on the tests down to the page numbers each question came from. Go to class, especially on review days, take notes, and you'll ace it.
I had him for BLAW I & II. I went to class everday but others didn't. It's helpful if you go to class bc he will give tips on test questions. Most importantly, show up for review bc he gives the page of the book to study for every question. He is funny at times and talks about 2 min before class until the very end of class.
I would recommend this professor. He was entertaining, clear, grades consists of 4 tests and extra credit. Tests are semi-hard but make sure to come on review days! Final is NOT comprehensive.
Loved loved loved him! He's funny, interesting, helpful, and you'll really learn a lot! He'll answer your questions, gives great reviews for tests, and all the stuff is really applicable to every day life. Loved him. Loved this class. Highly recommend!
His lectures are great. But he never responded to any of my emails. So I would not recommend him. Seems very hard to communicate with.
2ND time taking Prof and I love his class. Very helpful and clear lectures. Clearly explains all concepts and cares if students understand. I feel like he wants us to be successful and not just a means to a paycheck. Come to class and get the book. Don't skip out because you'll miss out on great material that will matter in life. Take him!
only gives 4 tests then final, gives out a review of the test, but none of the questions or answers appear on the test..
No attendance taken, no curves on the exam and no pop quizzes. Book is a must-have. Attend test review days bc he literally has a copy of the exam he will be giving and tells you what to study and gives you the page number. No reason not to pass, even with a C (unless you're daft, lazy or just don't put in any effort at all).
It is helpful to go to every class. But the only class you really have to go is the review day. He does very detailed reviews for his tests, pretty much goes over every question. Great teacher. Makes the subject interesting. Would definitely take him again!
Good Prof. tried to apply as much of the material to real life. Attendance not pertinent, show up for review day (he lets you record) goes over what you need to study and what page to find it on. sometimes seemed like I was cheating bc I made a 100 on 2 tests and a 98 on the final. Read for test 1 got a 92 because I had to much info in my head.
I took this professor based on these ratings and let me just say he is NOT an easy test giver. His reviews are giving you a term and saying heres 6 pages its on know it. His tests are worded in a tricky way at times. Yes he gives curves which is how most of us passed. Please look into other options don't rely on this being an easy A, it wont be.
Real estate law had 3 tests ALL truefalse but his reviews are legit. If you go to class, pay semi attention and study, youll be fine. He lectures from the book but you dont really use it too much. He tries really hard to make a boring subject interesting and his personality helps. Hes a great guy! Great class
Go to class every time. Take lots of notes and highlight your IRC. Don't bother to answer in class, you are in fact wrong. 10 page paper (do your best, use lots of references), midterm and final (I relied on the IRC itself and did well). Class is long. We got out "early" at 9:45 a few times, but mostly it was to the bitter end.
Relatively easy "A" if you read before class + attend lecture (for more clarity&examples) + ATTEND REVIEW DAY. He looks at a copy of the test and gives you the topics + page # for each question. 4 exams that require application of concepts learned. Multi. choice & T/F if 50min class, multi choice if 1hr20min class, no hw.
Amazing Professor. Very good at lecturing, but you need the book in class because he follows the book as he talks. Can go a little fast sometimes, so I recommend a laptop in class, but overall awesome professor. Gives reviews before tests which is 100% what you need for the test. Gave an extra credit paper at the end of semester. Made me like law.
Come to his lectures and listen, you'll remember the material better because he likes to emphasize. He also tells you exactly what is on the exam on review day. Don't think that you can just go to class on review day and make an A or B on the exam. Multiple choice and T/F 50/50. Pretty easy class.
Professor Schwemer was definitely my favorite professor this semester. I had his 9:30AM class and he was extremely chipper and attentive every class. He gives excellent examples to help you understand relatively difficult material. He gives reviews before every exam and gives the exact page number in the textbook where you can find the answer.
Very good professor, absolutely recommend. You don't have to show up for class but it is good to. Follows the book so alot of reading is required. Gives a review before each exam where he basically tells you exactly what you need to study and what page of the book it is on, allows this to be recorded. If you read and come to class you will get a A
Awesome professor! You can tell he loves what he does. 3 tests, all T/F questions. You must come to class the day before the test because he tells you exactly what will be on it. He gave an extra credit assignment at the very end worth 5 points towards your final, it saved my butt! I never got the book but I would highly recommend getting it.
2nd time taking this professor. 8-week summer classes, 5 hours every Saturday. Not as bad as you'd think! If you listen to the lecture and take decent notes, you can pass without a problem. Only 3 T/F exams. Gives reviews the class period before exam day. I hardly looked at the book. You will not do well if you skip lecture. Tests are 99% lecture.
Does not always give extra credit. Grade based on 4 tests. Writes the tests like the lawyer he is, with trick wording. A hard A, unless he gives extra credit, which I heard he does sometimes, not in my class. Must attend the "review" days. Must have textbook.
This is the second time I've taken Lee (blaw 3311 and 3312). Very educated in business law. Classes are not mandatory. Provides review the day right before class. Easy A if you show up and listen. Fascinating real life stories he tries to literate with relevant sections. Would recommend for business electives.
Awesome professor, I will take him again. His lecture is amazing. I can say that I learned in his class.
By far my favorite teacher ever!! He loves teaching and is so good at it! He goes over every single question on review day so don't really need to go unless review day. Book definitely recommended as he doesn't have any PowerPoints and just goes directly from the book. Easy A and I learned so much. Wish I could take him for all my classes.
Has Review Days for his exams, where he lists every topic covered for it! No quizzes/hw. Exams are mult choice, 50 questions! Read over the topics he talks about for review day, and you'll be fine.
Only need to show up on review days. He knows that, and doesn't seem to mind that. He'll tell you what pages to read, and give a hint as to what the exam question will be about, and the next class will be the exam. You will need to read a LOT for the exam, but it'll be fresh on your mind and you'll do well. Especially if you have Greek connections.
The review he gives the day before an exam is basically the test. He tells you where to look for things he'd be testing on. Only 4 tests all semester; no outside homework. He lets you write a 5 page double spaced paper over a topic that we've discussed in class for an extra 5 points added to your overall final grade. Would take him again for sure!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but I still attended every lecture. Take good notes during lectures, likes to give test questions/answers for the people who actually show up. Has a review before each exam which is very useful, but his tests are extremely tricky since he's a lawyer. 50 MC *IMPORTANT TIP RECORD THE REVIEW BEFORE EACH EXAM HELPS ALOT.
Easy A. Always attend test review sessions - -tells you exactly what to study. I enjoyed his lectures. It's a lot of reading. Every chapter in the book was covered. He's a smart guy that likes to talk so show up and listen to the lectures. He tells good stories that help make sense of the content.
Took him for law 1&2 and real estate law, great professor and exams are easy, I never went to class except for review days, he basically tells you whats on the exam and just study that, not sure if he curves or not, and exams are all M/C and they are the only grades you have, attendance is not mandatory, but the book is a must, lectures are boring
Professor Schwemer knows what he's talking about. Class attendance isn't required, but it's helpful. Lots of reading involved - several tests, no homework. He does reviews the class before each test, which are very helpful. Nice guy, willing to work with you in extenuating circumstances.
The review are useless. He goes over the basics, but you basically have to think harder in the exams.
My favorite professor I have ever had. Seriously. He makes the material interesting and he never fails to make the students laugh. There's 4 tests and he gives a good review before each one. He also gives an extra credit assignment. Highly recommend taking his class!
So far the only ethical business professor I have taken at UTA. His tests are fair his reviews are good and his lectures are fun. This is one passionate fair professor so far my favorite class and professor of this semester. Highly recommend him.
Super easy-going guy. Doesn't try to ruin your life with homework. Test are 50 T/F questions which is a bit rough because the wording is strange. The book basically includes every case he goes over in class, so I recommend not getting it. He explains the cases better anyways. Final wasn't cumulative. Definitely don't miss a review day.
His class is just based on tests, which I like, because I have a lot of homework in other classes. But you need to read the textbook and go to the lectures to pass. His tests are challenging, but doable. I like how he is a straight-forward professor. Overall, I would take him again.
You don't have to show up but it helps taking notes, they will help for the review. His reviews are very thorough and as long as you study the review well, you will pass! The book is a must. He will tell you specifically where to find the answers for the reviews. Pay attention to the wording of the questions and you're good!
Only test. Gives great reviews!
He is really good. Listen to the lectures. The book would probably help a lot but if you can't get it its probably not the end of the world. His reviews are thorough and you can definitely do well. He does extra credit at the end.
Teaches well and gives great test reviews. If you want to do well on his exams, take good note of his test reviews. Easy B but can be a hard A. Only flaw is that he can be very lazy with uploading grades. Sometimes takes a week for you to get your test grades back.
He is a great professor and a lecturer, but you can't simply pass his class by just showing up. In fact, a lot of students gave up on attendance after the first test, and just study on their own time. His tests are extremely tricky, and not straight forward, a lot of concept and critical thinking questions. Gives extra credit and help, just tough.
He is a great professor! Take him! Gives reviews the class before exam day and the review is basically the exam! Love him.
*DONT BUY TXTBK* unless you need too, but you can find a pdf online for free. He has 3 exams including the final and thats it. Your grade is based off those 3 exams. His lectures are hella boring, just come on review days and he tells you exactly what to study. Do that, and you'll be fine.
The grade is determined by 6 exams only. The exams are easy if you read the textbook and study his review. The review basically covers the concepts that will be on the test and if you make sure you know those concepts, you'll do good. Professor Schwemer's lectures are helpful but not mandatory.
Professor Schwemer has a great personality! Read your book and go to the lecture and you'll do fine. Reading can be boring but during a lecture, he makes it interesting and helped you understand the material. He is awful about responding to emails. Just read, go to the lectures, pay attention, and you'll be okay. Don't stress.
He is a very nice professor. He's really chill & understanding. Lectures were live but he records them. Exams were all true or false w a few multiple choices sprinkled in. No lockdown/webcam. Great teacher & interesting class. You can find the book online for free if you want to follow along w/ him during lectures. No ppw provided, only handouts.
AN AMAZING PROF. He just has lectures and 4 exams that arent hard because of the amazing detailed reviews he has. Exams are not lockdown or proctored.
Professor Schwemer was an amazing professor. His lectures were a bit long and had a lot of information but it was very helpful for his exams. He only uses the grades from the exams so really study. His exams are not proctored and they arent on Lockdown Browser.
Great professor! I missed a test and ended up with a 66. But, his lectures are interesting and full of helpful information. Goes by the book! With real world application. Go to class, follow with the book, and meet him outside of class - never responded to e-mails. The exams weren't too bad! Had alot of time for it and no lockdown.
He does a great job of using real life examples that help understand the material. Fall 2021 consisted of 4 online exams and that was it. I read the chapters, went to a few lectures, and the exams were not too difficult.
A LOT OF READING. Material can be boring if you do not have any interest in business law. Professor Schwemer gives great examples and tries to make the class fun. I suggest taking him and try to make 80+ on the exams. The exams were online for my class.
Lectures were all recorded so attendance wasnt mandatory. Test were all online and material was straight out of the book.
He's easy. Records all lectures, no homework, attendance optional, gives recorded review before the exam, flexible exam times. It's no way you can fail his class. The lectures are boring and he's not very interesting as a person, but the course has very low stress.
All lectures were recorded and attendance wasn't mandatory. Tests were online and not proctored.
Easiest Blaw professor at UTA. He is an easy A because the exam is the same as the review. 3 exams (lockdown and in-person with access code). no other grade. Lectures are dry but he uses echo 360 so you can watch at your own time. He is also bad at responding to emails so don't bother asking for anything.
You can tell he knows what hes talking about, lectures are kinda boring but he goes in order and straight out of the book. Not very accessible outside of class. The grade is based on 4 exams, which makes it hard to keep it up if you fail one. Unfortunately I failed the class because I wasnt prepared for the PROCTORED exams that were overwhelming.
One of the best professors in UTA. Hes a walking law encyclopedia! loves his job, cares about students and wants them to understand. 4 lockdown browser tests(a bit challenging but makes you know exactly what goes on in business world),no HW or extra credit. basically, go to lectures, study material & review = you'll pass!Definitely taking him again!
The exams are very difficult; the exam reviews are not helpful and he will not let you retake an exam or do anything for extra credit. He also does not communicate, making attending study hours hard. Make sure you study the whole textbook to pass.
Class was hard to get a good grade on because it only consist of 4 test grades. The reviews aren't really helpful and there is a lot of material to cover. Lectures can get really boring but are straight from the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory, he records and posts the lectures, I would recommend looking for a more engaging professor.
As long as you go to class or watch the lectures online and take notes you'll pass! Most of the time he talks about different cases. There are only 3 exams in the whole semester, but he does really good reviews. No need to buy the book, you'll pass without it. LOVE this class and professor.
Graded by 4 exams throughout the semester. Do NOT bother reading the textbook, instead sit through the lecture and take good notes since he goes over material and cases straight from the book. REVIEW TEST REVIEWS!! Make sure you know the topics thoroughly (this is when you should go straight to the textbook). Does not answer emails, ask in person.
Great professor! Take him!
show up to lectures and take good notes, he tells u what will be on exam if u go to lectures. he also gives test reviews before them and THEN this is when u should read textbook if u dont understand something. grading is only 4 exams.
I would recommend taking this professor for "BLAW 3314" or basically "Real Estate Law". It is vital to study the videos and they boring but they give good info for the test. ACTUALLY WATCH THE REVIEWS. His tests are easy as long as you watch the review before He actually does base his tests off lectures which is AMAZING. I can't give enough praise!
4 Tests. Don't mess up. He really is a walking law reciting/knowing machine. He knows what hes talking about, and to help of the test, WATCH THE REVIEWS. Show up to class because sometimes he'll let you know if somethings going to be on the test beforehand. Textbook is also VERY important.
He really isn't that bad. For real estate law, do not buy the book, you don't need it. Only a few tests. He does curve them. Pay attention to the reviews! He only teaches from his own notes, no powerpoints.
Professor Schwemer does not offer tools to help the class succeed. His only recommendation is to read, and attend class. If you can learn on your own then this class is for you. Only 4 test for grades. He either arrives late for office hours or does not show up.
You have ZERO resources. All he does in class is talk and it gets very boring. You have to take notes of everything he says. ONLY 4 exams, its so easy to fail the class. No extra credit. Exams are tough. Attendance is not mandatory. Only good thing was class was being recorded so you can listen to it at home and take notes at your own time.
Professor Lee is straightforward - his lectures cover the textbook, and he makes it clear what will be on the exams. While dry, the material is manageable if you attend class, take good notes, and use resources like unstuckstudy for study prep. Overall, a decent class if you put in the work.
I read the textbook and listened to the recorded lectures online. It's an in-person class, but he records it to be accessible outside of class, which is great for those with busy schedules (especially since there are not many options for class times). Graded by a few exams and an extra credit paper. He's a lenient grader; minimal study time.
Recorded lectures attendance optional he may change that bc ppl didn't attend after said it. Only 4 exams podcast reviews that are semihelpful curves no homework no quizzes.Trys his best to make lectures funny adds 70's & 80's history I learned important info. Easy to put this class on the backburner of todo list bc no assignm READ TEXTBOOK or else
Very difficult course that requires a lot of reading, do not be like me and cram reading the night before a test. Lectures come straight from textbook, posts a 40ish minute video review on Canvas a few nights before test where he runs through concepts of test. Do those and read the book and you should get by ok
